I've been rewatching Shadow and Bone because I miss it and also because it was Freddy Carter's birthday recently. And I have to admit, the part where Kaz was explaining to Inej about the Grishas' light reflecting off the glass was so funny my stomach hurt from laughing so much.

Because on one side, you have Kaz probably trying to impress his crush with how smart he is.

And then Inej just looks at him and walks away 💀

It happens in episode 5, which is my favorite episode of season 1!

I've been reading through a bunch of Kanej fanfictions, and I've noticed with almost each one that includes kanej eventually healing and having children, Kaz is always 27 when the kid is born.

As a traumatized (in my early 30s) year old I find the fact that a man(character) who was far more traumatized than i, is mature enough for a kid by 27 an absolute mind boggle.

Also, while I'm not totally onboard with the idea of kanej kids, does anyone have any good fan fic recs about inejs healing journey, and her thoughts/relationships on kids?

I resonate with “maybe there were people who lived those lives. maybe this girl was one of them. but what about the rest of us? what about the nobodies and the nothings, the invisible girls? we learn to hold our heads as if we wear crowns. we learn to wring magic from the ordinary. that was how you survived when you weren’t chosen, when there was no royal blood in your veins. when the world owed you nothing, you demanded something of it anyway,” a lot. it has to be one of my all-time favourite quotes in literature, it was so powerful and true and spoke to me so much. for one, I understand being overlooked, neglected, and practically invisible, on a very personal level. and two, unlike the chosen ones and the special ones in stories who never had to fight for their place in the world, I will always be able to get those that had to prove that they had a right to exist and that they deserved recognition and respect, all on their own, much more. also I feel like part of my girlhood was represented in this scene, and I share that with inej <3
