Thank you, OP, these are a lot of fun, even if it means I’m procrastinating on my other writing.

♦ - quirks/hobbies headcanon - Hisagi

Hisagi is that guy who discovering hobbies, getting superhype about them, buying a bunch of supplies (he is terrible with money), and then losing interest before he actually gets any good at them. This sounds kind of awful, but the upside is that he usually learns something from just about everything he tries. He might not be the best cook, but he can feed himself, and he knows the basic principles of how flavors go together. He never finished that first landscape painting he tried, but he learned enough about color theory that he was able to pick out a cool color scheme when for the motorbike. He’s always generous with his leftover supplies, so if you need to borrow a sticker maker or some board wax or some brads, Hisagi is your man.

Also, Hisagi loves to hear about other people’s hobbies, and he’s really good at asking insightful questions and tapping into people’s enthusiasm for the stuff they love. It’s honestly a shame that he’s always trying to be a Serious Investigative Journalist, because he’s just an incredible interviewer. His puff pieces almost always go over much better than his harder hitting stuff, much to his eternal chagrin.

ൠ - random headcanon - Ukitake

Ukitake is literally old as balls, and he gets really confused by what’s going on in the Living World, but he loves movies. He was particularly fascinated with them when they first came out, and would try to squeeze one in whenever he had a trip to the Living World. He particularly likes films that portray ordinary people’s lives. When I took a Japanese film course in college, we had to watch this movie called Good Morning that was about family life in the suburbs and involved a lot of little boys farting, and I think Ukitake would have been just delighted by it. Ukitake isn’t as taken with more modern films, but he always encourages his officers to go see a movie whenever they can, and come back and give him full play-by-plays.
