CONFESSION:
I hope when people saying they want better hairstyles, they include men as well. I mean we had a man bun, a mullet, 10 types of bald, and a dragon age version of Justin Bieber's hairstyle from 2009. Please give us something decent this time.

Have you played EXALTED ?
By Robert Hatch, Justin Achilli, Stephan Wieck, Andrew Bates, Dana Habecker, Sheri M. Johnson, Chris McDonough, and Richard Thomas
Tumblr media
Exalted is a game of epic fantasy set during the Second Age of Man, a time before our own. It is an age of magic and adventure, when heroes of legend are reborn into a time of woe.
At the dawn of the First Age, the gods gave power to men that they might slay the gods' Primordial enemies. Anointed by the gods, these beings were thereafter known as the Exalted.
The greatest of the Exalted were the Solars, the Chosen of the Unconquered Sun, the mightiest of the gods. So great was their power that, when a Solar died, his power was quickly made manifest in a new individual - a reincarnation of sorts, but into a mature adult rather than a newborn.
The Exalted triumphed over the enemies of the gods, and in reward, the gods gave the Exalted dominion over the Earth. For a timeless age, the Exalted ruled justly over Creation, and their kingdom was invincible.
But the enemies of the gods had pronounced a terrible curse against the Exalted. This dark magic ate away at the hearts of the Chosen. The benevolence of the Solars turned to tyranny, and peace turned to civil war. It was prophesied that the madness of the Solars would bring about the destruction of the world. Seeing no other alternative, the lowliest of Exalted, the Dragon-Blooded, murdered the decadent Solar Exalted and locked their souls away.
And so, a Second Age descended upon Creation.
The greatest of the gods' servants no longer walked the earth, and the Realm of the Dragon-Blooded was but a shadow of the lost old Realm. Solar Exalted whose power escaped to be reborn were slain by Dragon-Blooded inquisitors known as the Wyld Hunt, and the Realm claimed dominion over Creation. For more than a thousand years the Solar Exalted remained imprisoned and defeated - until now.
The Scarlet Empress, the Dragon-Blooded ruler of the Realm and controller of the Wyld Hunt, vanished five years ago. Without her might to enforce order in the Realm, the Great Houses of her Scarlet Dynasty have fallen to squabbling over the reins of power. And in this time of crisis, the Solar Exalted have returned. It is as if a gate was opened and the heroes of old rushed through it and returned to the world.
Your character is among those individuals who have become Solar Exalted. You are a being of legend, as mighty as a demigod and as cunning as an asp. Will you be the savior of Creation or one of the terrible menaces that beset your world?

Thinking more about the Meredith Inquisition Antagonist AU and how it would've affected the world and story of Inquisition. Because of instead of a Tevinter Magister, you've got the Knight-Commander of the Templar Order. Not a mage a Templar. One of the Chantry's own. Like. Imagine how this would affect the Chantry and the Templars, when the world finds out that not only had a Templar blown up the Temple of Sacred Ashes—a holy site for those of the Andraste faith—but also killed Divine Justine V and many others, and is now one of the biggest threats since the Archdemon and the Darkspawn of the Fifth Blight. Imagine the Inquisition's new mission is now not only to defeat Meredith and close the breech, but to also investigate the Chantry and the Templars for answers on how Meredith came back and if they had anything to do with it—and it's given to you by both Orlais and Ferelden. And in the end, after the defeat of Meredith, you can pass one more judgement to Orlais and Ferelden before the game ends: The fate of the Chantry. You decide whether to let it remain as is, serverly limit their power to the point they are no longer the religious powerhouse they are, or completely get rid of it and rebuild from scratch. The pros and cons are yours to weigh and the outcome is yours to decide. So what will you choose, Inquisitor?

Evaludate Episode 99: The Devil Is Real (Tyril I Lister of even if Tempest, Part 1)
Summary:
On today's TWO HOUR EVALUDATE SPECIAL, we're getting into the real-world history of witch hunting and witch trials around Europe and North America, Madelyn insists that everyone else insisting that she would like Tyril is still wrong, and being a murder suspect is boring now--it's time to get deputized.
Content Warnings:
Discussion of antisemitism and islamophobia: 13:23 - 14:45, 54:28 - 54:55
Sexual Assault: 25:17 - 25:59
Emetophobia: 1:06:08 - 1:07:31
CSA: 1:16:50 - 1:17:20
Suicide: 1:16:50 - 1:17:20
Incest: 1:30:43 - 1:31:05, 1:34:04 - 1:34:16
Corrections, Notes, and Sources:
Air misspoke when saying Pope John XXII’s declaration of witchcraft as heresy in 1320 took the form of a papal bull. Though the pope eventually described witchcraft and announced that anyone who engaged with it would be excommunicated in his 1336 papal bull Super illius specula, his initial 1320 judgment was outlined in Cardinal William of Santa Sabina’s “Letter of 22 August 1320, to Inquisitors of Carcassone and Toulouse”
In the episode, Air stated that Matthew Hopkins charged around £20 per town, in reference to how much he was reported to have charged the town of Stowmarket in A.G. Hollingsworth’s History of Stowmarket (1844). According to the records, he charged £23 plus traveling expenses. Hopkins himself, however,  stated that he only took “twenty shillings a town” (A History of Witchcraft In England from 1558 to 1718)
Please note that some of Air’s sources are primary documents, and tread carefully. There are a lot of hot stoves in this source list.

31 Days of Dragon Age
Oct 06 - Favorite Origins NPC
My favorite thing about DAO is definitely the incidental NPCs! It's a game where I want to talk to everyone, even if they're just a quest giver or a lore node or some background flavor. The pair of gossips, Liselle the flower seller, Kaitlyn and Bevin ... hell, even Jowan and Shianni fall into this category if you don't play a certain origin! And I think that's what makes it really special to me... how fleshed out the world feels with the idea that somewhere, in a slightly different story, each of these characters is a vital player.
And my absolute favorite of these is Justine. She is a Chantry scholar, a passionate and skeptical woman, and my unquestioned NPC fave. I don't care that she's just there to pay out a fetch quest. I don't care that she only has ~20 lines. She talks about FAKE ANDRASTIAN RELICS and has an Irish accent and the fact that she didn't get to be an Easter Egg in Inquisition when she is an ACTUAL RELIQUARY INQUISITOR is a crime against me specifically!!!!!
Tumblr media
Sister Justine, please just one chance 😔🫴

Cato’s “I’m sorry; that was unworthy of me,” moment:
I’m imagining they’re all having a family style dinner or something, and the Inquisition comes up. Now, Cato turned himself in to the Inquisition very early on in the war, so he got to be in everyone’s way during most of Inquisition, occupying approximately the same grey zone between prisoner and recruit that Varric did originally. He wasn’t in the cells, but he was not free to leave. By the time they got to Skyhold, he was on the Inquisition’s side and chose to stay.
Harding: “Whatever happened to you and that other mage boy you were always with at Skyhold? You two used to be so cute together.”
(Davrin gets quiet. His focus shifts from his food to Cato, and Cato feels it.)
Cato: “I don’t know. Whatever happened between you and the university professor?”
Harding: “Oh. I—”
Cato: “I’m sorry. That was unworthy of me.”
Harding: “That’s alright. Good to know that it’s a sensitive subject.”
Neve: “Well, I never realized there was so much relationship gossip in the Inquisition!”
Varric: “With the Inquisitor getting knocked up by a mysterious apostate who turned out to be the Dread Wolf and the Magister sneaking into the Qunari Mercenary’s room at night? It’s a wonder we did anything but gossip.”
-
Follow-up conversation later in Davrin’s room:
Davrin: “You know I don’t care if you have a past, right? Everyone’s got a past. Me included.”
Cato: “I know. Thank you. I never thought you’d be upset.”
Davrin: “What, then? You still sweet on that boy?” A small smile; an attempt to hide the question behind a joke.
Cato, quickly: “No. It’s…” He sighed.
Davrin: [Body language softens. He approaches Cato.] “He hurt you?”
Cato: “Only in the way that he always told me he would. Somehow, that makes it worse.”
Davrin: “Because you can’t just be angry at him. You have to feel like an idiot.”
Cato: “And then I get angry at myself.”
[Davrin touches his shoulder. Cato looks up. Their eyes lock.]
Cato: “He’s a nice guy, for a born politician. If we asked him for help, we’d get it. I would like to say he’s a good friend, but I haven’t spoken to him since I left for Tevinter.”
Davin: “Not a decision he supported, I take it?”
Cato: “We argued about it more than once. But that’s not why I ended things.”
Davrin: “You ended things?”
Cato: “He wants to be Grand Enchanter. It’s all he’s ever wanted, and I met him when we were kids.” [Cato looks at Davrin’s hand on his arm, then back up at Davrin’s face.] “I told you: I enjoy the hunt. And I was never really what Justin was chasing. It’s not that he had a career in the Circles; it’s that he cared about that career more than he cared about me. It wasn’t exactly rejection, but after a while, it started to feel like it.”
Davrin: “That’s a shame. You deserve to be chased.” [Davrin starts to close the space between them.] “I promise to always chase you.”
[They kiss.]

Top 5 pieces of video game music
Yay!!! I'll fully admit that I told Miles to send me this after I saw @arendaes get the same ask because I'm not just going to make these posts unprompted lmao.
1. Eothas by Justin E. Bell - When I played Deadfire, I remember posting about how much I loved the music that played whenever Eothas showed up and wishing I knew what the song was and someone replied something akin to, "I've got hilarious news for you." (Spotify) (Youtube)
2. The Sky Wheels Slowly Spin by Brad Derrick - Yes, another soft song for another sad god. What can I say, I'm nothing if not predictable. Sotha Sil is easily one of my favorite TES characters and Clockwork City is...I don't have words to describe how I feel about it. (Spotify) (Youtube)
3. In Hushed Whispers by Travis Morris - What would this list be with IHW? I've been obsessed with this song for years. I love this quest. It hits for me in a way the other one doesn't. It feels me with a heaviness, dread, and sorrow that I know my Inquisitor carries after the quest because she remembers. She'll always remember. I love that brand of creepy. (Spotify) (Youtube)
4. The Cosmic Balance by Dmitry V. Silantyev - The Aeon theme absolutely slaps and gives me goosebumps when I listen to it. Angel may be my canon path but Aeon was ridiculously interesting and though I didn't take the path to completion, I'll continue to love it and this well done song. (Spotify) (Youtube)
5. Mist in the Mire by Henrik Oja and Frida Johansson - I've never played Unravel, but I'm obsessed with this song. I happened across it on Spotify when I still had a subscription and that was All She Wrote. :D (Spotify) (Youtube)

end of year asks! 18 and 25
18- A memorable meal:
An absolutely wonderful meal I had this year was had over a prewritten adventure of the Yellow King RPG we were playtesting for Pelgranepress. Seeing that the game was set in 1890s Paris, we decided to go for a light French them, with absinthe, and this lovely sausage dish Dorothy prepared. A lot of eating was done in character, and the players absolutely stomped the scenario we were assigned. All in all, a fantastic time.
25- Any characters made this year?
I’m always making characters, be it for roleplay, writing with my wife, or general story-use. I have a few stand outs that I really like, from a pair of soul-bound inquisitors for a future Dark Heresy campaign, trolls, an awfully named but lovely lady, to a jerk-ass brother-in-law & rival to one of my Runequest players, but the one I’m really into right now is sorta an older character given new life… by becoming a completely different character. My Herbert West-type mean, chubby doctor, name of Corrin D. Ashurst, was recently retooled into a nun for an AU. This new gender swapped Corrin took me and my wife by storm, and it was decided only a week ago that she’s too good to just be a gender swap of Corrin, she needs to be her own character entirely. So, more work has been put into her, some distancing from the source character, and she now exists separately with the new name of Justine. We haven’t gotten to use her in a story yet, but she’s burning a hole in my brain wanting to get out.
Bit of a rambling answer, but I’m doing night audit at work on Christmas night so I’ll allow myself a wee bit of a ramble.

I love Gallifrey: Mindbomb because Darkel is hell-bent on becoming President and then boom, Chancellor Braxiatel shows up to her complete surprise and for once she is actually speechless because she did not expect his return or for him to become President so soon and it’s all her fault because she is so strict on tradition and the old ways and it all comes back onto her and it’s fantastic to see.

If you’re curious about Europe’s witch hunts and what Europeans believed about witches in general, Dr. Justin Sledge has an amazing set of videos on this topic: Witchcraft - The Witch Flight to the Sabbat - From Inquisitional Myth to Psychedelic Flying Ointment
Witchcraft - Malleus Maleficarum - The Hammer of Witches - History and Analysis of the Inquisition
Demonology and Demonologists - Scholastics and Inquisitors - Foundations of the Witch Trials Witches Witch-Hunting and Magic in Early-Modern Europe (FIA Lecture) The Witch Trials and the Rise of Modernity and Capitalism - Sylvia Federici - Caliban and the Witch These are all great videos, and I recommend them because they go into depth that’s hard to find elsewhere. If the history of magic and witchcraft interests you, these will not disappoint!
