🚨#STOPWILLOWPROJECT The Biden administration has approved a controversial $8bn (£6bn) drilling project on Alaska’s north slope, which has drawn fierce opposition from environmentalists and some Alaska Native communities, who say it will speed up the climate breakdown and undermine food security. • The ConocoPhillips Willow project will be one of the largest of its kind on US soil, involving drilling for oil and gas at three sites for multiple decades on the 23m-acre National Petroleum Reserve which is owned by the federal government and is the largest tract of undisturbed public land in the US. It will produce an estimated 576m barrels of oil over 30 years, with a peak of 180,000 barrels of crude a day. This extraction, which ConocoPhillips has said may, ironically, involve refreezing the rapidly thawing Arctic permafrost to stabilize drilling equipment, would create one of the largest “carbon bombs” on US soil, potentially producing more than twice as many emissions than all renewable energy projects on public lands by 2030 would cut combined. • More than 1 million letters were sent to President Biden and petitions gathered more than 4 million signatures. This is a slap in the face. In fact, Biden only shaved off about 8% of the original plan proposed by ConocoPhillips. • It's 2023 and we are already on the verge of destroying Earth in a way that cannot be fixed. By approving this project, we will see an unprecedented amount of lost jobs and homes, sickness, and community displacement. • (Slide 1) #RickFraustoFineArt Greta Thunberg Portrait, 2019 #OriginalDrawing on archival paper Dimensions: 6 X 9 inches • ✍️Source: The Guardian & @genzforchange (slides 2-5) • #TomorrowIsTooLate #JustStopOil #DivestFromFossilFuels (at Teshekpuk Lake) https://www.instagram.com/p/CpvOX3Lp924/?igshid=NGJjMDIxMWI=

Environmental activists affiliated with the Just Stop Oil movement have made headlines once again, this time targeting private jets at a U.K. airfield. The audacious act, which saw two individuals breach security and deface multiple planes with orange paint, raises crucial questions about climate activism, celebrity carbon footprints, and the effectiveness of protest tactics. Environmental Activists Arrested Breaking In, Spraying Up: Just Stop Oil Makes a Statement On the morning of Thursday, June [current date], two Just Stop Oil members, Jennifer Kowalski (28) and Cole Macdonald (22), gained unauthorized access to a private airfield located near Stansted, England. Their objective: to make a bold statement against fossil fuel use by spray-painting parked private jets orange. This action closely followed a similar protest at Stonehenge, the prehistoric monument, on the previous day. The activists employed orange paint, a signature element of the Just Stop Oil campaign. They claim the paint used is cornflower-based and readily washable. However, the act itself sparked immediate controversy, with concerns raised about potential damage to the targeted aircraft. Arrested and Under Scrutiny: Just Stop Oil Faces Backlash Essex police responded swiftly to the Stansted Airport incident, apprehending Kowalski and Macdonald within minutes of the protest. They now face charges of criminal damage and interfering with national infrastructure. This arrest underscores the legal ramifications associated with such disruptive activism. Further scrutiny arose due to the apparent presence of Taylor Swift's private jet at the airfield earlier that day. While the group insists Swift's plane was not their primary target, a social media post alluding to her jet and referencing her song titles suggests some premeditation. Just Stop Oil has yet to clarify its specific intentions regarding Swift's aircraft. This incident reignites the debate surrounding celebrity carbon footprints. A recent study identified Swift as a significant contributor to carbon emissions through her frequent private jet usage. However, Swift's representatives maintain that her plane is often loaned out, and the carbon emissions attributed to her alone are inaccurate. Additionally, they claim she has purchased carbon offsets to mitigate the environmental impact of her travel during her current tour. Fossil Fuels in the Crosshairs: Just Stop Oil's Urgent Plea The Just Stop Oil movement advocates for a drastic shift in global energy policy. Their core demand is for the U.K. government, in collaboration with other nations, to implement a complete ban on fossil fuel extraction and usage by 2030. They believe this drastic measure is necessary to avert a climate crisis. The activists' choice of protest targets – private jets – is a deliberate attempt to highlight the extravagant lifestyles of the wealthy and the environmental cost associated with such luxury. They argue that the current system, allowing extreme wealth accumulation for a select few while jeopardizing the future of the majority, must be dismantled. Beyond Headlines: Evaluating the Impact of Just Stop Oil's Actions The Just Stop Oil protest at Stansted Airport undoubtedly generated significant media attention. However, the effectiveness of this tactic remains debatable. While it has sparked conversation and raised awareness about climate change, concerns remain about potential property damage and the legality of their methods. The activists argue that their actions are necessary to jolt society into addressing the urgency of the climate crisis. They view traditional lobbying and political processes as insufficient. However, some critics argue that their disruptive tactics alienate the public and ultimately hinder their cause. The debate surrounding Just Stop Oil's tactics is likely to continue. Undoubtedly, the group will continue to push for their agenda, raising awareness and urging immediate action to combat climate change.

Based on the search results, there are a few key points regarding how to properly clean and restore an ancient stone monument like Stonehenge:
Use gentle, non-abrasive cleaning methods:
Avoid harsh chemicals, acids, or high-pressure washing that can damage the porous, ancient stones[3][4]
Mild detergents, soft brushes, and low-pressure water rinsing are recommended for surface cleaning[4][5]
Specialized stone cleaning products like calcium carbonate nodules or fine particle abrasives may be used with care[3]
Thoroughly test cleaning methods first:
Always test any cleaning method on a small, inconspicuous area of the stones first to ensure it does not cause damage[4]
Assess the condition of the stones (mineral deposits, erosion, cracks) to determine appropriate gentle cleaning techniques[4]
Hire experienced professional conservators:
For a monument as significant as Stonehenge, it is crucial to hire stone conservation experts and professionals with experience working on historic sites[4]
They have the specialized knowledge, techniques, and equipment to clean ancient stones safely and effectively
Avoid sealants or coatings:
Sealants are generally not recommended for ancient, porous stones like those at Stonehenge as they can cause unintended damage over time[5]
Thoroughly rinse and dry stones:
Any cleaning residue left on the stones can potentially cause further deterioration, so thorough rinsing with water is essential[4]
The stones must be completely dried after cleaning to prevent moisture penetration and damage[4]
Document and record all conservation work:
Extensive documentation of the cleaning process, including before/after photos, condition assessments, and methods used should be maintained for such an iconic heritage site[3]
The overarching principle is to use the gentlest, least invasive methods possible to clean Stonehenge's prehistoric stones while preserving their integrity. Proper testing, hiring qualified experts, and detailed documentation are critical for responsible conservation of this irreplaceable ancient monument.

Eh, they used cornstarch at Stonehenge - it didn't damage the plant life or rocks and it'll wash off with rain (or a hose I guess if people want to clean it before it rains next). They did it to bring attention to the lichen on the rocks, which is at high risk of dying out with increased temperatures due to global warming. I don't think it worked (and I'm not saying JustStopOil and their techniques are flawless or anything), but the Stonehenge thing was harmless to the site itself.
Omg. Just Stop Oil just broke into the private airfield where Taylor Swift’s private jet was parked and spray painted it orange
