Hello! I really enjoy your cdrama posts and I was wondering if you could recommend any period dramas that aren't, idk... murder-forward? 😂 I'm often watching with my kid in the room and I don't want her seeing people get stabbed! Shows like Nirvana in Fire where the violence is mostly limited to a few episodes where you see it coming are also fine - I can save those eps for after the kiddo is in bed. 😄 Thank you!!
hiiiiii 💕💕💕💕 you are so nice AND YET you have given me a mission impossible 💀
Chinese period drama without wanton violence? ?? I've been racking my brains.
I will try to rank options, based on my memories, on least frequency of violent scenes.
Less overt violence:
Legend of Zhen Huan aka Empresses in the Palace: a palace drama that's fantastic but dialogue heavy. There are deaths but not many bloody exchanges that a kid would grasp the significance of. You can work around it. Warning: historical drama with strong FL, but not a romance
Story of Minglan: like Nirvana in Fire, the violent episodes are there but it's 25% of the drama and 75% is violence-free.
Legendary Life of Queen Lau: this is a comedy-first rom com that keeps this tone all the way through. So when there is violence, its fairly cartoonish. Not meant to truly scare. PG rated, in american terms. Maybe 2 episodes to skip.
The Flowers are Blooming: at the very end in the climax there's a couple Danger Episodes. It's blurry for me tbh. But this is primarily just female lead centered romance.
Medium Volume Violence:
A Female Student Arrives at Imperial College: That particular cdrama tone where it's primarily an age gap, female-empowerment rom com... But then occasionally assassins and murder pop up! So you will need to skip some episodes. 60/40 ratio of rom com to murder attempts
Believe in Love: a pretty-people showcase first, everything else second. There is definitely some violence to skip but maybe you can fast forward around it? um she almost dies from good sex tho 😂😭
Sword and Brocade - there are a couple episodes I can think of with disturbing violence but it's perhaps low frequency enough that you can work around it, like with Nirvana in Fire. Though I never finished it so hard to say
Truth or Dare - didn't finish, it bored me and I didn't love any of the actors. but I don't recall it seeming super bloody either. Check further before watching.
Royal Rumors - tbh this drama is a blur to me. I only completed it for the lead actress. I seem to recall that though there was violence, it was lower frequency? Check further before watching.
Higher Volume/Disturbing Scenes for Children:
The Ingenious One
Legend of Fuyao
Legend of Fei
The Royal Princess
A Dream of Splendor
The Ghost Bride
The Imperial Coroner
Under the Power
Blossoms in Adversity
Love Like the Galaxy
The Double
Story of Kunning Palace
These are still in my watch queue so idk:
Autumn Ballad
The Blooms of Ruyi Pavilion
Heart of Loyalty
Decreed by Fate
I've Fallen For You
@dangermousie @renewedmotionforjudgment @dreamyklutzs @aysekira please consult, it's FOR THE CHILDREN

i agree with a lot of your points about knives, i do also think he is aroace of some kind (demi imo), but the way he ignores bodily autonomy wasn't a theme that was new to stampede. the way he consumes other plants and forced vash to use his angel arm are examples of it, though less explicitly 'sexual'. either way, his actions weren't born out of sexual attraction, he simply thinks that all plants are an extension of himself and he can use their bodies as he pleases since its for a 'greater purpose'. he is not a predator but he isn't innocent either
Oh no no no no no no no I do NOT wanna give the impression that I am genuinely defending knives is ANY way. 😭
I completely agree with everything you're saying. He is inarguably abusive. Saying he's not would be a wild ass claim to make. 🙏 My only argument here is that it isn't specifically sexual, but I'll get more into that in a bit. 😝 I have SO MUCH to say abt this...so I'm gunna use this as an excuse to word vomit on y'all. Thank you for bringing this to me I am itching.CRAVING to talk about my favorite girls always. 🤗💖
INSANE ESSAY POSTING LETS GOO !!!
I think your point on Knives seeing the plants as an extension of himself is SPOT ON!!! He does the same thing with Vash too. He's doing it because hes so stuck up his own ass he seriously thinks there is no possible way he could ever be wrong, everyone else is just too blind or stupid to see it his way. That's why he does the whole "eternal suffering for Vash the Stampede" bit. He genuinely cannot comprehend that Vash just fundamentally disagrees with him. He thinks if Vash goes out and sees every horrible thing a human can be he'll finally give up the hippy dippy act and face this false reality Knives made up as a coping mechanism so he never has to actually face any of his problems. Cause stabbing all your problems away is waaaaay easier than actual growth or change. Top ten girls who are trapped by the horrors of their past 😂!
Knives has a blatant misunderstanding of people's worth outside of himself. He disregards the lives of others constantly, he literally murdered 20 mil+ and was genuinely confused when Vash was mad at him for it. He doesn't take anything seriously. He especially doesn’t take physical pain seriously, unless it’s happening to himself. [DID YOU ACTUALLY SHOOT ME!!?] He's said that he knows none of the crazies he sends after Vash can ever kill him. He thinks if they can't kill him, then none of the hurt Vash experiences during these fights really count. Its always a game to him. He knows Vash will be fine because he has faith in his ability to fight. (He's complimented his fighting skills several times lol.) Yet he’s consistently shocked and disgusted when he sees Vashes scars, like he didn’t play a role in that ??? He just never thought of it until it was literally staring him in the face.
HE THINKS EVERYTHINGS A DAMN GAME !!!!!
Knives never really wants to force Vash to agree with him either, he's literally waited decades for him to come around to his point. He's definitely lashed out violently before, and has disregarded his safety. But I don't think he actually even likes seeing Vash in pain 😭 (maybe a little in a Itoldyouso brother kinda way lol.) He's completely horrified when he sees his scars. This panel speaks absolute VOLUMES to me. He is angry that Vash would allow people to hurt him this much. (Bro is for sure a victim blamer 🥱 Vash OBVIOUSLY should've known humans are evil and would do this to him. 🙄 HIS FAULT !) Those scars solidify in his mind that his brother is reckless, and clearly doesn't know what's best for himself. That's why he feels the right to "save" him from humans. Knives out of anyone in the world knows how much Vash disregards his own life. He's angry that his own brother would choose the perceived violence of humanity instead of the safety he has worked SO hard to cultivate for over a hundred years. After everything they learned from their childhoods, Vash would have to be deaf and dumb to keep crawling back to them. (From his perspective anyway.)
Everything Knives does he thinks is to better Vashes life. That's what makes him such a tragic character to me. He genuinely believes he's in the right and doing everything he has to so him and his brother can feel that safety that was never guaranteed to them in childhood. He loves Vash, (PLATONICALLY !!!! 😰) He wants Vash to be happy. He just doesn't understand why, that despite everything, living alongside the humans is what makes him happy. Something he only accepts at the end of trimax when he literally trees himself to assumed death so Vash could have that. Knives is unambiguously in the wrong, but I do think his thought processes are sympathetic. WRONG. But like .I get it girl. Besides, he acts more like a toxic mother than anything. How DARE you be so ungrateful after everything I've ever done for you that you've never even asked for. ✋😒 and EXPLICITLY told me not to do. Ugh. 🙄 you don't even love me…guess im just a terrible brother than huh…🥀 BITCH SHUT UP !!!!
Now about the asexuality, not only...do I think Knives is aroace. I think he's completely sex REPULSED!!!!! Sex is a mark of human degeneracy, animals clinging for power over each other. Hed think hes above it !! It would disgust him, I don't think he's ever had a sexual thought in his life. He’s also a Jesus freak he'd think procreation in general is a sin 🙄‼️ik his interpretation of the bibles gotta be INSANE. Exploring sensuality is like a normal and healthy thing to do no fucking WAY Knives is self aware enough to do all that. If he could experience any kind of libido, his hatred of humans would never allow him to explore it anyway. Since sex is such a huge part of human culture. He probably thinks consensual sex is a myth humans made up to assault each other easier…😭
this is literally him bro I can't see him any other way...🚬 He's literally a pearl clutching mom who refuses to understand anyone else's experiences because he doesn't understand them.
I can't imagine him being able to feel romantic love either...I actually think it would be pretty out of character ngl. Plus I think it could be an interesting element of why he feels so disconnected from humanity in general. It would be part of why he feels the need to define himself as alien. Knives would rather die than admit this, (and he did) but all he's ever wanted was understanding. The same way Vash does. Knives doesn't understand sexuality/romance, or deep empathy, or most social confinements at all. That's clear by his inappropriate emotional reactions and lack of a filter. He can't feel emotions the same way Vash or Rem can. It makes it very difficult for him to relate to and connect with others. Especially Rem. He feels too wrong, too broken, too alien. But he's convinced himself that this is actually a superiority. So he can sleep at night. But he's far more human than he'll ever be willing to accept. The familial love he feels for Vash is the only thing that makes him feel normal. And it's why he clings to it so desperately. I think that feeling being explicitly familial makes the most sense for the story.
(cut for explicit talk of SA/CSA)
Im never one to dismiss bad actions from a fictional character. If I thought Knives was a sexual abuser, id say it. I even considered it before I watched/read Trigun and kept it in mind the whole time because of how prevalent of a take it is. If anything, I feel like theres more evidence for metaphorical depictions of Knives BEING sexually abused than being the sexual abuser. I mean his literal whole thing is how plants bodies are used and abused against their will. Solely for the humans gain. While it's slowly and painfully killing them. And how afraid he is that they'll do it to him too....😭 He would be absolutely HORRIFIED by SA. I just don't think it's an abuse he'd perpetuate. It goes against literally everything he stands for. I get he’s a hypocrite and all but I could just never see Knives of all people doing anything sexually ever. ESPECIALLY for his own pleasure.
Both Vash and Knives read to me as CSA victims. This would need to be a separate post all together because there is entirely just too much to say. But I feel very strongly about this interpretation and it's why I'm so firm on this. Sexual abuse is a huge theme in trigun OBVIOUSLY!! And Vash and Knives can easily represent different ways people cope with trauma like that. Knives gets angry, and bitter, and lashes out. While Vash shuts himself off, and tries to run away from it all. Two extremes from two brothers. Two sides of the same coin and all that. They've been victimized, I think it's the main reason why Knives would be so angry and distrustful of humans. Now I know Steve was kind of a throw away character from the anime- but I believe long term interpersonal abuse from a human early in life would explain a lot of the deep rooted hatred Knives has for humanity. Along with his hatred for Rem if she failed to protect them, and his deep sense of entitlement to protect Vash if Vash couldn't protect himself. (Tesla was the last straw for Knives bc at least for a while he thought he could trust Conrad till all that happened and he realized the only person he could ever trust was Vash, and that fear never really left him even 100+ years after.) (My interpretation of Conrads role is also a different post gerrrrr TOO MUCH TO SAY.)
Knives' ideology has always been inconsistent, I can easily see him disregarding autonomy in some ways but refusing to in others and never making a mental connection between the two. Plus Knives would think Vashes scars are shameful and disgusting. He probably cant even make himself look at him let alone touch him be so fr. Knives' definitely has an unhealthily attachment to Vash but not in a sexy sex or ROMANCE way 🤦♂️ ITS JUST HIS BPD YA’LL 😝‼️#favoriteperson #extremefearofabandonment #vashkeepsleavinghim (also another separate insane essay post) there is no argument here that Knives isn’t extremely bad at emotional regulation. Familial/platonic dynamics like that happen literally all the time it’s just not evidence of anything to me. I can't even see Knives directly punching someone let alone be capable of sexual violence against his own BROTHER ? I'd argue he's far more verbally/emotionally abusive than he ever is physically anyway. He doesn't even kill directly, it's always either done without a second thought by his powers, indirectly by starving the population out, or by making other people do it for him. He doesn't seem to actually enjoy seeing people in pain, more the satisfaction of a job well done. I don't see why this wouldn't apply to Vash too? He doesn't even usually initiate their physical fights. Vash does. (He has every right to, for the record. Knives just doesn't comprehend why Vash would be mad so he always tries to talk like everything is normal. Lol.) And when they are fighting he always puts his hand on his face ?? More annoying than a direct indication of violence. He could just punch him or something but he doesn't? Like violence in Trigun isn't a thing known to happen. Idk I think that's interesting and worth exploring a bit yk ???
Obviously he chopped his arm off I'm not saying he's innocent there either, just that he's more likely to be emotionally manipulative than explicitly interpersonally violent LOOLL. He didn't chop off his brothers arm because he enjoyed it, to him that pain is neutral. It was just a super casual reminder. But SEXUAL violence is completely different, sure it'll leave scars but you can heal from physical pain all day and night I mean commooon it barely even COUNTS as real pain. (Because he rarely has to experience it.) (A certain someone's got a major empathy problem.) And if it kills you it doesn't matter cuz you're already dead 😝!! But SA is different. It's his worst fear and greatest agony. It's something he knows sticks with you your whole life, he doesn't think that's a wound capable of being healed. (So he never tries and chooses to live in constant fear and anger instead.) That's how I see it anyway...🤕 Again it's not like he's a reasonable guy he is known to be a bit unstable idk if u knew...
Actually if anything, I think Vash would be the more interpersonally violent of the two. (Vashes abuse is always reactionary tho he would never act like that if Knives would just be normal lol he is not the aggressor here.) I can't see Knives punching Vash but I could VERY easily see Vash punching Knives ykwim ??? (For trimax anyway, ik kid Knives beats the shit out of him in 98 which I DO think is funny. But I don't accept into my personal canon okay LISTEN we are talking about a lot of conflicting characterizations here. JUST HEAR ME OUT. ✋) Knives never even really blames Vash for BLOWING HIS LEGS OFF in July too, which I always thought was so interesting. It makes me think this is actually a common thing for them to the point that they don't even argue about it outside of "are you actually aiming at me again 🙄?" Which is more bitchy than angry. Like ugh I can't believe you. Typical, typical Vash. 🥱 He'd probably use it as a way of proving to him that they are the same. And despite denying it, Vash would actually agree and feel a deep sense of shame abt it. He's had 150 years of pent up anger after all. He almost killed him with a rock once lol. I'm tired of everyone woobifying Vash as some kind of perpetual uwu victim. Vash is fucking mean sometimes. He is just as capable of violence as Knives is. The same way Knives is just as capable of great kindness. It is known that Vash is in fact physically STRONGER than Knives. (With his plant powers and id assume in general because Vash actually goes outside while Knives reads in his garden all day.) I truly believe that the only reason Knives ever wins the sibling fights is because of Vashes constant hesitance. He's not a battered wife stereotype. All Vash wants is control over his own life, the last thing he'd want to see himself as is a helpless victim. It's why he always pretends nothing is ever wrong with him. It's why he doesn't accept help, and values other people's problems far above his own. His kindness was always an active choice and that's why he's such a powerful character. And Knives would bring out the absolute worst in him LOOL all that work he's done to better himself is instantly thrown out the window the second Knives' very punchable face walks in the room.
He was fighting absolute demons not to run over and beat tf out of Knives in this panel
This is why I feel so disgusted by stampede and the way they handled their relationship. They've dumbed down these characters to the point that they are unrecognizable. Literally every aspect of stampedes portrayal of them feels like a first conclusion based on a synopsis of their goals and personalities. I get there's only one season but that's a LOT to fuck up in one season bro. 😭. There is absolutely no salvaging Nai as a character for me. I'd cover my drink around that guy I find him genuinely repulsive. At least with trimax, you can read around an initial sussy reading if you wanted. How anyone defends Nai, I don't even know. That whole plant insemination thing is pretty on the nose y'all. Literally doesn't even make sense for him to do that like? Why would he want more independent plants??? It's like they tried to make Knives' motivations make sense when the whole point should be that they don't. He's fighting ghosts out of fear. Stampede wasn't even good enough to justify its own existence by how it looks. Adding peculiar plant pregnancy preggo fetish incest bait is just the turd on the turd cake. They ruined the most compelling part of the story for me. Pfft.... But whatever...🚬 not like I care ....🚬
Not to mention Legato y'all don't even get me started. The guy that HATES humans more than anything in the world taking in a HUMAN -SEX TRAFFICKING VICTIM. The one time he's ever taken pity on a human being and it was someone who was the victim of a violent sex crime. Yeah guys that dude. Total raper. Defo a brother diddler. What the fuck are we talking about right now y'all. I genuinely feel like sexual violence would be the last thing knives would ever do ever. I understand that there are sus scenes in the manga that could be interpreted this way, but considering the many themes in Trigun and his place in the story as a whole, I think it is such a misrepresentation. And it frustrates me to see it as one of the only things talked about in regards of his character. If I could, I'd rewrite every scene in the world so people could understand what I see, but I can't. And I know I can't control how other people see the media I like. Trigun is extremely interpretive, and I understand why this is a common conclusion. But I guess I just can't shake the feeling that it's more complicated than that. I have criticisms with trimax and ESPECIALLY 98. And there's obvi a lot id change to fit what I'd find most interesting. (Also why every headcanon revolves around Knives somehow teehee) BUUUUUT I do think all of my analysis is pretty based in canon. I can't stress how insane I am about this and how much I've thought about it 🤕🤕🤕🤕🤕. Believe me, I've considered every obstacle. And I've stayed consistent.
Knives is a raper feels like the easy answer to me. To be completely blunt, it's just not as compelling. Vash and Knives would both have very complicated relationships with their bodies and sensualities and gender and their relation to their plantself and their humanself and blah blah blah whatever. I'd much rather explore that as a separate result of the same abuse than default to supercestsimulator69. Knives is already an abuser. Making him a sexual aggressor too doesn't really add anything to the story besides diminish and dumb down his very complex motivations. Vash and Knives should be very good friends who know each other better than anyone. (They are trauma bonded like CRAAAZZY, very codependent like y'all get it.) I think that would make their conflict SO much more interesting. While providing some great context to why Vash is so willing to give every horrible person he meets a second chance at life. If I saw my brother, who I love, and is my best friend in the whole wide world, slowly deteriorate under the pressure of the abuse we we're BOTH experiencing; go fucking crazy and kill everyone. And I KNEWW. He genuinely believed he was doing what he had to do to protect the both of us...I'd probably also give everyone the benefit of the doubt idk. Vash understanding Knives' motivations but still holding on to that (justified) resentment and anger is ESSENTIAAAL to their dynamic and also literally all of Trigun. Sexual abuse throws a rock in all of this. If anything I think Knives would tell Vash "I'm the only one who WOULDN'T assault you. They're human, they'll only see you for how useful you are. It's what they do. It's what you know they do. You're choosing them over me the same way Rem chose Steve over us." Knives' abuse is complicated and multifaceted, not just some gross display of power. He's not even the most power hungry character in the world. He's got a whole cult dedicated to him that he canonically IGNORES.
And he sure as shit doesn't respect people who are desperate for power over others!! He'd think he's above that too. Just more evidence of human deviance. (Like the scene in 98 where kid Vash and Knives are watching the humans fight over water. Animals who think one is more deserving of resources than the other.) He's narcissistic in the literal diagnosable sense but definitely not some kinda megalomaniac. I think that's a huge mischaracterization. He doesn't want to rule the world, he wants to destroy it. And he wants Vash to be his equal in this, he respects Vash. (as far as someone like Knives can respect anybody at all) He doesn't understand why Vash would choose to be so "dumb" because he's never allowed himself to feel the vulnerability of potential harm that Vash wants him to understand is worth it. It's why he locks himself away from the world, he's afraid of being victimized again. Knives' morals are all over the place, he genuinely doesn't think murder is bad but would consider sexual violence to be the worst thing anyone could ever do EVER. It's not like we're talking about the beacon of reason and consistency here y'all, Knives is cray cray sauce.
Anyway that's my thoughts, sorry this took forever to answer. 😿 And ended up being SOOO long.. I've on and off mauled over this writing and rewriting again trying to make any of my garbled thoughts make any sense. Hope it resonates with anybody at least bc I genuinely feel like I've been taking crazy pills lately LOOL. Take care of yourselves everyone. 💖 Never an easy subject to talk about.
#tw sa mention#theres more to say with knives and the plants too but thats an entirely different essay post LOLL#thank you again for the ask I was itching for some kind of excuse to get my thoughts together like this 😭🙏#my based takes#asks#vash the stampede#millions knives#trigun#ive been putting off posting anything else to force myself to finish this...sorray yaaalll.....hope it was werth it thoo....#do NOT let him talk about trigun yall. 😂 !! you'll never hear the end !!!!#trigun maximum

Idk if you were talking abt bnha canon in your post but i have that issue with hawks so much lmao Like yeah the bird is cool but also he is an ass and mostly a manipulative fake bih!!!! So many fics out there make he seem like a super nice guy with great genuine social skills and im like noooooooooo!!!😭😭 he is a LIAr dhhdjsdhhsjjahasjsjs
that's true, fanon!hawks is a lot more emotionally well-adjusted and capable of rejecting hero propaganda and have critical thoughts about society and its flaws. I'm of two minds about him tbh. On the one hand, I love deep dives into his canon brainwashing because it's so all-encompassing and deeply rooted he basically doesn't have a personality underneath anymore. He's fully a tool, knows it, hates it, but at the same time violently rejects being anything else. He plays the victim while tightening the metaphorical rope around his neck (and around other oppressed people's that have it worse and better than him). He's such a freak. How can you not want to study him under a microscope.
On the other hand, I also get why fanon completely discarded that part of his writing. Canon shot itself in the foot when it made him so resistant to change he basically became a mouthpiece for the series' confusing and self-contradictory messages. He's so resistant to critical thought and so depersonalized he doesn't feel like a character anymore, but just a plot device, you know? all the ideas he was introduced with (that were later discarded if not trashed) stuck with the readers tho, so I don't blame them for rounding him out into a full person. Sure, it's unfortunate that it came at the cost of overwriting his equally interesting void self... but ultimately fics exist as an exploration of things that the fans didn't find in canon, so it's understandable imo. I am guilty of doing this too in my dbhwks fics so I'd be a hypocrite to criticize it 😂
at the end of the day everyone writes the stories they want to read, and I support that. I'm also a massive nitpicker tho, I'll admit 😂 personally I can tolerate fanon!hawks much better than fanon!dabi because I like canon hawks much much less than canon dabi aklsdklassk
#it's one specific trope that annoys me so it's only my fault for continuing to read about it#I do this to myself and then I grumble about it because there's no one else to get mad at lol#ali replies

I get now why Alicent is standing by a lake or frolicing in the grass:
https://t.co/v9ooj39C9t
Based on the trailer, it looks like she’s still trying to be the voice of moderation on the Green Council, the name given to the faction which supports Aegon’s claim to the throne. “Who can she trust? There’s no one around her,” said actor Olivia Cooke. “Everyone, it seems, has been spying on her. It’s this sense of peak paranoia within her own home. That had to really permeate throughout my performance. All of a sudden she’s of no use to anyone. She’s done what she was supposed to do — put her son on the throne — and now she’s discarded. Who is she if she can’t be the person to implement wisdom?”
However, in a way, her new role is freeing: “Oh, I could do whatever the f--- I want and no one cares. All of a sudden I’m not important. I’m not a player,” Cooke said. In a very giddy way, that’s really novel and exciting.”
REMEMBER WHEN HER DELUSIONAL STANS SAID THAT ALICENT WILL CONTROL AEGON, THAT HE’S JUST A PUPPET AND FIGUREHEAD, AND ALICENT WILL BE THE REAL RULER AND THE POWER BEHIND THE THRONE 😂😭
I’ver NEVER EVER hated a character as much as I hate her, oh my god, she crowned a man while knowing he’s incompetent, sadistic and unfit to rule, she started a massive and devastating civil war that will result in hundreds of thousands of deaths, her daughter fell into madness after her child was beheaded in front of her, but she happily choose the “Après moi, le déluge” approach, she choose to let everyone down and force them to clearing up the mess SHE created.
"Après moi, le déluge" -- "After me, the deluge". An expression meant to convey a nihilistic view or dismissal of what will happen after and/or in consequence of your actions after your death. Or removal from a situation.
I agree, she's still trying to moderate everyone as if she hasn't been the one to participate in their coming to power out of her own jealousy, and I hate that the show has tried to make us feel sorry for her or think her relationship with Rhaenyra is in anyway real, since it also seeks to validate Alicent's bigoted jealousy against Rhaenyra for not being compliant with "the rules" enough.
Some might say "that's the point"; I'm saying that the way it's written--thus the thing itself as there is no other version of this relationship--we are encouraged to commiserate with Alicent or feel more amenable to her feelings and her role as "peacekeeper" while being as unobservant as her about the state of affairs surrounding and determining Rhaenyra's conditions. I have never seen more people so sexist towards the girl and woman who tries to find her own happiness in this violently patriarchal world than in this fandom, and yes there is illiteracy and bigotry regardless but it is also because:
The show has both made Alicent much younger when she married Viserys AND much less intelligent/scheming--this more vulnerable & genuinely trying to make peace and "girlfail" for sympathy points. We don't witness a pattern (basically not enough scenes of how she regards and treats people around her during the time between the wedding feats and Joffrey's birth) of the jealousy the show claims she has for Rhaenyra.
We've had to had this show explained to us by the actors afterhand AND/OR/BECAUSE some of us have had to really sit and go over the plot holes, inconsistencies, quick character switch arounds, etc. -> to trace how exactly Alicent got to a point where she thinks Rhaenyra "tramples" duty and sacrifice "under her pretty foot" and her resentment for Rhaenyra not being as unhappy as her/not acquiescing to her queenly authority that she hangs onto to justify her own suffering
As for Olivia's words:
However, in a way, her new role is freeing: “Oh, I could do whatever the f--- I want and no one cares. All of a sudden I’m not important. I’m not a player,” Cooke said. In a very giddy way, that’s really novel and exciting.”
....Yes, I know we've only gotten trailers...but nothing we've so far seen from those trailers AND how they have already characterized Alicent as wanting her Queenship to mean something because of her suffering and thus her resentment towards Rhaenyra for not also complying in season 1...this is, let's say, very odd and contradictory.
Yeah, this is good to show TG stans that Alicent is not the power they think she is. It also portents--in my eyes--of more logical inconsistencies in the writing for season 2.

grimmichigrimmichigrimmichi >:3333 (pairing meme)
heheh okay- so shiP IT ofc 😂 .. but here's the answers;
What made you ship it?
so... I have a very specific list of qualities I look for when it comes to my favorite male characters. And Grimmjow fit them all 😂💕
When I first watched Bleach the only thing I shipped was IchiRuki, bc naturally that was the only way to go for me tbh, but then Grimm appeared and I was obsessed. When it comes to otps for me, first I find a fave character, then I consider the possible pairings. Not any other way. And with Grimmjow... well the only option for me was Ichigo tbh.
Not to discredit any other Grimmjow ships, I've done a few of them myself, but with how passionately these two throw themselves at each other I truly couldn't look any other way. Lol
So tldr; Grimmjow's got slut potential and I dig that, and they're too into each other for me not to see "gay" plastered all over them 💫
2. What are your favorite things about the ship?
Hmmm 🤔maybe how inherently feral it is, canon-wise. Also how harmonious their overall designs are together, there's nothing nicer than a pair that looks good together, at least as an artist. Also how easy they are (for me at least) to write/draw; I have a hard time focusing on one thing for long enough to get good at things (hence the many AUs lol!) so for me to have a ship I draw constantly for more than four years now... is truly astounding lmao. They helped me grow soooo much so they hold a dear dear place in my heart just bc of that alone.
And because of that last one: how easy it is to apply AUs to themmmm ;w;<33333 I can legit think of anything and make an AU out of it and not struggle too much to find the perfect place for them in it.
And also,, sort of fave sort of least fave- that it's not an overly popular ship in general (ik it's popular in the Bleach fandom itself, but rather; not popular like a ship from BNHA or JJK). Why; bc I get to have my quiet space where I draw all the ideas I want and yet have had verY few people throw insults at me for some of my darker stuff 😂 Bigger fandoms I've interacted with (as a viewer mostly) have had issues popping up left and right, people getting upset over dumb shit and letting that grow to huge proportions, "antis" everywhere... yeahhhh no thanks 😖
but also-- it gets verY quiet at times specially for someone who's so picky. Like, if I could find a fandom space like the exclusive bottom Bakugo enthusiasts I followed on twt (and even bought a whole zine about) but for GriMMJOW??? WOOF😭💕 so yeah,,, love-hate situation on this last bit lmaooo
3. Is there an unpopular opinion you have on your ship?
A few 😂😭 everyone who's followed my art for a certain amount of time can probs tell how the 'tism really affects how I enjoy ships lmaoooo I have to enjoy them a very specific certain way so... that means I don't partake at all on a good few of the popular tropes for the ship. Some I can think of rn; damsel-in-distress!Ichigo, overly hurtful!Grimm (although this one is more old fandom I think 🤔? I remember, in a lot of fics back then, Grimmjow was portrayed a lot as this violent rapist adgdfddfdff not for me lmaoo), ofc top!Grimm, Grimmjow acting all macho relationship wise, and too much angst (I think this ship (and Ichigo in general lets be honest) can call for a lot of angst in fic so I totally get it- but ...meh, if it's not romaticized/sexualized angst, idc for it adgdfgf I don't like it when they actually suffer 😭)
OOH OH! ALSO --- making them OOC in AUs CAN be great actually (to me at least). I know a lot of people (not just here, but in any ship/fandom/etc) don't love OOC characterizations of their fave characters/ships (hence why it's a tag we use tbh) but I personally love that at times??? I won't do it all the time and all over the place... but AUs where there's space to make Grimm less violent? or Ichigo less friendly/loving??? While still within their canon character potentials--- hecC yes. >:)ccc
Also ofc; that I wish it was still common to tag ships as top-bottom like it is with HoEn/EnHo (bnha), VK/KV /trigun, KRBK/BKKR (bnha) etc or at least tag it some other way along the ship.... it would be sO much easier to filter out stuff i don't want to see instead of having to mute/block a whole person I would still love to see stuff from.
BuT I am aware most have no preference whatsoever lmaO so... yeah nothing I can do there except not follow people pfFFF 😂😭 (and wait until I find peeps with similar tastes aasdfs)
#ask meme#Ichigrimm#grimmichi#一グリ#bleach#ship ask#ikik I'm a bit crazy it's okayyy i'm aware#pffff#I also have baD anxiety so I enjoy things like a trembling chihuahua afraid-yet-excited about it's own toys pfFF#if the flavor changes I stop eating is what I'm sayinnnggg adsfsdasfsf#*sniff tests everything*#answered

i hope they explore almond's idolisation of daemon (flop) vs daeron looking up to ser criston and how the latter besides his one in a blue moon rage fits is the much more reasonable of the two
still kind of funny to me how daemon could intimidate two kingsguards with a dragon and everyone just moved on because ser criston has been somehow bestowed with the role of violent masculinity and when daemon does it he's the rOgUe pRinCe.
btw still trying to wrap my head around the whole aegon/alicent anal r*pe rumours what in the hell where they cooking 😂😭 they were probably going to steal the whole mad king aerys "we cant protect her from HIM" line
That's a thought.
I would guess they'd tie into the Second Son syndrome and how Daemon and Aemond relate to being the spares to brothers they view as bad kings and believe they deserve the Iron Throne for themselves. Yet, they're handicapped by an inherent love and care for that older brother.
But while I think Daemon does what he does to get Viserys's attention. I think Aemond does what he does cause he knows, even from a young age, that his job is to protect his family - Alicent and his siblings. So the more crazy stunts that Aemond does, the more he's flexing as a warning to anyone who wants to fuck with his family. But those crazy stunts are inspired by the antics of Daemon who no one really knows but maybe Rhaenyra are just for Viserys's benefit.
On the other hand, I think that Daeron perhaps isn't as inspired by Criston as he is by Alicent. He is the most like her in look and personality. And I think they'd probably draw more of a line between Young!Alicent from 1x01 - 1x05 and Daeron than they will about any overlap in his and Criston's storylines. But I do think that Daeron is absolutely 1000% Alicent and Criston's son, maybe not biologically, but in terms of how he was raised and what his values and principles are. I would expect Daeron to look at Alicent and Criston as his parents, and Alicent and Criston would view Daeron as their child together.
Daeron strikes me as being in the same position as his teenage mother was at his age. He had no designs on the crown, he doesn't want power, he just wants everyone he loves to be safe. He will give good advice and a legendary commander of strategy, but will be very moral centered and will try endlessly to do the right thing. But just like Alicent finding out about Criston and Rhaenyra in 1x05, the death of Maelor will trigger Daeron to become a lot more hardened and darker. I think Bitterbridge will be his transformation from Young!Alicent in 1x05 to his own form of Adult!Alicent we meet in 1x06. And from then on he'll have to grapple with doing the right thing and the violent ruthlessness of being the last Green standing in a apocalyptic grade total war.
I think there's a lot of surface level comparisons between Daemon and Aemond ...
But I think there is a lot of soul deep comparisons between Alicent and Daeron as characters - there is a reason that GRRM goes out of his way to conflate Alicent and Daeron together.
Yeah, that rumor has been going on for awhile, ever since GOT Con during the Aegon panel. There is a scene in the Sapochnik treatments of Season 2 where Aegon reveals something to Aemond just before they fight Rhaenys at Rook's Rest ... and a lot of people suspected that it was either Aegon saying that he knew about Aemond and Helaena's relationship or that he had been having sex with Alicent the entire time. And it was bad enough that Aemond hesitates to help Aegon and later loses control of Vahgar and she ends up attacking Aegon and Sunfyre instead of Maelys due to Aemond's anger toward Aegon.
I hope it isn't true ... I'd like more nuance in these characters and much less nihilism in Team Green.

hello!!!!! hair anon here!!!!! i’m so sorry i haven’t commented the last few chapters, i’ve been in thesis-writing hell and also doing other things hell. BUT!!!!!!! I am here because I missed responding to your last few chapters and also because I am DEAD over the newest chapter. DEAD. but also VINDICATED. because sokka’s hair is finally long enough to put back in his wolf tail 😭 all that time stressing about their hair, and he and i are finally free 🙌🏻🙌🏻🙌🏻
just. AHHHHH. oh man also POOR MAI!!!!! so a crazy thing that happened is about ten or so chapters ago i got the crazy idea that what if ozai and mai got married? because i thought it was going to be azula and zhao initially but then i wasn’t sure that’s where that was heading. and then i was like, well, mai and ozai would make sense in the world of the fic and would be soul-destroying… so maybe…? and then kind of dismissed it bc it felt too far-fetched and like you were going the azula marrying someone route. let me tell you. I have never felt worse in my life about being right about something 😭😭😭😭😭😭😭😭😭😭😭😭
but ajdksk AHHH. I’m never going to get over how you write all these characters!! I LOVE sokka and zuko, as always, especially them touching foreheads right in the middle of the camp 😭 and i LOVE how katara and zuko interact, holy shit. that convo they had in the last chapter?? i LOST IT. Also I’m OBSESSED with the potential future interactions of toph and zuko. I’m really excited for them to interact more!!!!!!!!!! And maybe bond over being visually impaired/Blind and maybe working on using bending as an accessibility aid together?? 👀👀👀👀👀👀 also IROH AND AZULA. AZULA AND KAZUMA. Their last conversation had me biting my nails and ALSO laughing. this poor man can’t catch a break 😭 also I LOVE azula’s sudden and violent turn against ozai. you know. less so the reasons for it. 😬 but i’m very pro characters being anti-ozai! so….. yay?
anyways i have so much more I want to say and I know I’m forgetting things but I want to keep this shorter so THANK YOU, SO MUCH, AS ALWAYS!!! You are an inspiration and I am so, so in love with your story and writing. I hope you’re having a good day when you see this, and I am waiting patiently but SO eagerly for the next chapter 💖💖💖💖💖💖💖💖
Hello, Hair!Anon!
I hope things are going well with you and the thesis hell has not been too hard on you! As you can tell from my late reply, my life has also been a little hectic, and my brain is at a barely functioning level 😂
And yes, Sokka's hair is nearly at the point of being back as it should be, your long wait is over!
Glad you enjoyed the chapters! Katara and Zuko remain great fun to write, and there will be some Toph & Zuko coming up soon too, as a treat.
Azula and Iroh, and Azula and Kazuma have been the surprise most fun team ups (well, team up and victim of blackmail) to write. I have been enjoying plotting out their interconnecting stories a lot.
I hope you enjoy the next chapter too (its done, just needs a beta read, so should be out this weekend, oor next depending - its a long one)
Thank you as always for the lovely comment! Hope you are having a great week! ❤️

I act normal but I'll be struggling not to chomp on my screen when the next chapter drops. Pls sigh me up for the greedy coconut club😔✊
If you could describe the chapter's vibe in a phrase or sentence what would it be👀👀
my beloved jules💛 welcome to the greedy coconut club😂💕 (admission is always open to anyone who wants to join🥹) i can say without a doubt that i will also be struggling not to “chomp on my screen” when the next chapter drops💀 (hopefully sometime very soon, i had originally planned on posting this weekend but i’ve been struggling with editing it so it might end up being closer to next week sometime..but we’ll see..🥹)
as for now..to describe the chapter’s vibe i decided to use three little quotes from the chapter itself which are as follows:
1. “violent rush of emotion” (pretty self explanatory..let me just apologize in advance for what is to come lmao)
2. “It gets easier with time.” (literally, it does get less stressful as you read...just trust me okay?🥹)
3. “..thinking about it, talking about it, it’s not easy for me.” (i had to include this one because it pretty accurately describes my current feelings about the chapter rn😂😭)
ilysm buddy, hopefully these little spoilers didn’t give you toooo much stress😂 this was so fun btw, you’re always so creative🤭💕💕

After Kettleburn I wanted more and continued on Ao3. I wanted to just go at your tumblr pace at first, but now I needed more. Anyway I was typing a comment that got out of hand and thought it might be better for here 😂
But I had to stop and comment here (chapter 15) because omg Merula just let Jacob get away with torture. 😭 I hated him when he hit her and then she said she could never do it to him 💔
How dare he. She did not deserve it. And how dare she let him get away with it.
I was already miffed when he inmediately assumed the worst in Little Bird, but he was still simping hard as well at that point and I liked that. Go be a simp Jacob! Not a torturer.
Also I feel like I'm missing information. What was the betrayal? Why was he a prisoner? Why is she a deatheater if they are on the same side? What made him so mad? I looked through your other stories and couldn't find it. In English at least 😅
Sorry if these are a lot of questions. I have a lot of feelings. 😅 You have such a way of evoking emotions with your writing. I mean you had me laughing at Kettleburn, goosebumps for Tonks, crying for Badeea and Talbott. Ugh so many emotions.
I'll stop the comment here before I go on any further 😂
(If you get a notification about me following you. I followed too much. So I unfollowed many blogs and accidentally yours too.)
Hello, 🙂
No worries. Feel free to share your thoughts wherever you feel most comfortable. I'm flattered that what you've read here has made you want to know more and I'm happy to answer your questions. I'm sorry if everything wasn't clear when you read it (I guess it's the disadvantages of the limited POV and the fact that the chapters do not follow each other😅)
Jacob went undercover with the DE to spy on them, and then to kill Nagini on Snape's orders. Jacob and Merula, daughter of Death Eaters who does not denounce him because she is torn between her desire to reconnect with her parents and her own values, get closer during this period until they fall in love.
Alas! Jacob is discovered at the moment he was supposed to kill Nagini and the DEs want to question him about his motives - most of them are unaware that Nagini is a Horcrux - and about the presence of accomplices. In these circumstances, the Cruciatus Curse is usually used by the DEs on their prisoners. To avoid this and in the hope of having an opportunity to free him, Merula takes over the interrogation and inflicts various abuses on him, less terrible than the Cruciatus Curse but torture is still torture.
She plays her role of executioner so well that everyone believed her, even Jacob. And after hours, days, of mistreatment by the one he has grown to love, he feels betrayed and thinks only of revenge, hence his violent reaction when he is released. When Annie reveals that Merula could never have used the Cruciatus Curse on him because it is imperative to take pleasure in the suffering of one's victim in order to cast it, Jacob realises his mistake.
And if there's anyone in my HPHM universe who knows what it's like to do bad things for good reasons, it's Jacob so he goes back to Merula.
As for Merula, she knows what it's like to want revenge after a betrayal and she recognizes the ambiguity of her own actions. Moreover, torturing someone you love yourself in the hope of saving them takes a lot of guts, and now that Jacob has figured it out, he recognizes her value and offers her what Merula has always wanted: recognition. It gives her wings and encourages forgiveness.
Beyond their good intentions, they have done a lot of damage to each other but their relationship has never been and will never be a smooth one so... 😅
I hope this message answers your questions. If not, don't hesitate to ask for clarification. Thank you for your kind comment. 💙 I am very flattered to see such engaged readers.

Aw I loved these two. This was a straight couple I actually thought were appealing together. Probably because there were very little gender stereotypes.
I like very few straight couples but the ones I do like are because they’re equal partners and they show it.
I can’t stand the hero/damsel-in-distress dynamic unless it mutual and they’re both heroes to each other.
This goes for both straight and queer couples. But obviously, if it’s a queer couple, there’s less of it even when they’re the stereotypically butch/femme thing.
And the best example I can give there is with Corky and Violent from the movie Bound. They’re the epitome of Butch/Femme but they can’t stereotype one or the other as being more heroic or the damsel because it’s two female characters in the fight together and even though the movie itself is absolute dogshit, they make up for it with the insane chemistry.
But yeah, I’m always big on the ships that are equalized whether they be straight or queer.
Spuffy for example is great for this. They may be toxic as fuck but you can’t say they don’t equalize them because that toxicity goes both ways. They’re both absolutely awful to each other at the worst of times.
And even if you can’t ship a ship like that, there is still value in watching it because there’s so much there that’s complex and deeply layered - which is the draw.
And I think that’s what I like most about watching a ship. It’s the journey. It’s both the positives and negatives because it all informs all that that ship is and when it’s written well and carefully, that can really be a benefit to the ship rather than what ruins them.
When there’s really great conflict resolution in them in that the going into the conflict and then resolving it is all natural and organic and logical. That’s when it hits!
And that’s Xena and Gabrielle for me. Besides the fact they’re a queer ship, what I really love about them is just how brilliantly they resolve conflict between them and it never feels like you’re watching a soap opera.
But you might get an actual opera. 😂
Ah shit. Here I go again gushing about Xabrielle.
This post is about fucking Rick and Evie. Geez. 😭

Man I was reading through your blog and I saw one anon talk about bettering a friend's builds and I'm like....
I WOULD BE SAID FRIEND! My builds are so bad! Most of my team, minus Chongyun and Barbara, is C1. My most powerful baby is Ei but she's a little squishy without Zhongli to protect her. I try, I really do. However, that being said, I don't mind it. My builds get the job done and I'm always extremely proud when they take down a powerful enemy. Took me forever to get the confidence to fight the bosses, no lie. While my damage may not be up to snuff, I got a good team dynamic so teamwork makes the dream work 😂.
Thinking about this, it's given me an idea that I wanted to share with you. A genshin creator who doesn't really know how to build but they're just having a good time with their team. The creator selects characters in teams to accommodate each weakness and support everyone.
The characters may not be the strongest but the creator is proud and loves them nevertheless. They don't have to be the best to earn their creator's love, they're already loved for who they are. The creator simply values the time spent with them and the wonderful teamwork they display with each other. It definitely would make some of the more stubborn characters get along with each other (cough cough Icy Hot cough cough).
Though I do feel so bad as I used to main Ningguang and then Zhongli and then they both got replaced when I got best girl, Ei. I love them all but Ei is just so fun to fight with.
I feel you 😭 I had to co-op the big bosses up until I was in ar45, I think? I didn't even know Genshin was that much of a fighting game (my gamer friends encouraged me that it was like pokemon and less violent than the pubg they introduced me to 😔)
Anyway back to your ask but a genshin creator who prioritizes the journey and experience rather than the combat power is honestly probably what most of the characters would want. A lot of them aren't even combatants (they're chefs and businessmen etc), they focus on team building and tries to get everyone to work together.
THIS IS WHY I DIDNT BUILD KAEYA UNTIL I GOT DILUC, OKAY? WAITED TWO YEARS. Now I've built them both and they have to endure reaching friendship lvl 10 together hehehe
I'm currently a Ningguang and Zhongli main to!! they do amazing and quick damage (I only need to work on Zhongli's normal attack a little more and they'll be my overpowered duo!)

"this h*ler in disguise" 😭😭😭😭🤣🤣🤣🤣 were the conquerors also h*lers? Aemond is not even as cruel as Maegor, Maegor murdered women and Aemond was sparing them, and you call him misogynist😂
It seems "misogynist" has lost its meaning for you.
misogyny: hatred of, aversion to, or prejudice (an adverse opinion or leaning formed without just grounds or before sufficient knowledge) against women
Nowhere in this definition does it say that you have to murder women in order to be misogynist/sexist. If you think it requires a person to kill a woman in order to be a misogynist, then you imagine the world to have a lot less sexism and misogyny than it actually does.
What makes a person (man, woman, nonbinary, etc) misogynist/sexist is that they:
believe women to deserve less thought, consideration or rights than men
are inherently inferior and should be held subordinate to men
think that women -- as a group and separate entity -- all or generally have undesirable or awful qualities that make them "opposites" to men and/or, again, less than men
Canon!Aemond has shown uber misogyny, male entitlement over female subordination, and thoughts of women being inherently lesser in both word and action. Here is the proof:
Quote #1
Quote #2
Quote #3 (that he took a war prize to "congratulate" himself)
Aemond is a misogynist because he:
used Rhaenyra's gender and motherhood as the basis for her supposed weakness
targeted Alys Rivers and made her his sex slave/prisoner of war
was going to try to rescue Alicent and Helaena or at least "free" King's Landing from Rhaenyra, but changed his mind entirely when Criston Cole left him to go south, so he then decided to burn down while castles and villages in the riverlands to make a point about his own masculine "strength" and military prowess....pritoriticing that over the lives of his own mother and sister
left Alys River -- the war prize/woman he chose and impregnated -- totally behind when Sabitha Frey took Harrenhal (shows his disregard)
(Mind you, he takes a sex slave/war prize already choosing to marry Floris Baratheon and not being married to her yet. So if greens/anti Targs argue how Rhaegar "humiliated" Elia, that he is misogynist towards Elia and Lyanna [and he wasn't: Elia {written by dragonsfromthemoon} and Lyanna {written by me}] and then they turn around and say Aemond didn't humiliate Floris by doing this actually worse and actually sexually violent thing with Alys, those greens/Aemond stans) anti Targs are hypocrites and conservative-patriarchal advocates. Not here trying to point out injustices.)
Going back to how you try to limit misogyny to murder, Alicent displays misogyny when she uses Rhaenyra's gender's sociopolitical value against her, tries to shame and depose her though her sexual activities (men can have as many bastard kids as they please), and even allows or at least never protests marrying her own 13 year old daughter to her rapist son. She doesn't murder Helaena, but she is still using her daughter's girldom and reproductive faculties as a means towards power for her son and herself over her daughter's well being.
You really remind me of this anon who tried to criticize how people called Aemond an Incel.
Maegor did a lot more to women than murder:
sexual violence, rape
murders for heir husbands (Jeyne Westerling -- possible, Elinor Costayne -- possible, and definitely Rhaena Targaryen's first husband, brother , and Maegor's own nephew Aegon the Uncrowned)
dismissing and disrespecting Tyanna of the Tower entirely (before he murders her) for not being able to give him children and making it an inherent fault of her being despite her saving his life and serving as his mistress of whispers for a long time
and through the murders of Tyanna and Alys Harroway, display his belief that they are totally subject to him, body and soul, with the cruewat and most violent deaths and torture instead of just straight and quick executions
So yeah, he was also a misogynist. But Aemond is still misogynist without having to the very specific things that Maegor did. There are no one-hit wonder misogynists. It is a mindset and ideology bolstered by patriarchal systems and privileges, of which both Maegor and Aemond felt very entitled to.
This is what happened to Alys Harroway:
For a brief while in 44 AC, it seemed as if the king might soon have that son he desired so desperately. Queen Alys announced she was with child, and the court rejoiced. Grand Maester Desmond confined Her Grace to her bed as she grew great with child, and took charge of her care, assisted by two septas, a midwife, and the queen’s sisters Jeyne and Hanna. Maegor insisted that his other wives serve his pregnant queen as well.
During the third moon of her confinement, however, Lady Alys began to bleed heavily from the womb and lost the child. When King Maegor came to see the stillbirth, he was horrified to find the boy a monster, with twisted limbs, a huge head, and no eyes. “This cannot be my son!” he roared in anguish. Then his grief turned to fury, and he ordered the immediate execution of the midwife and septas who had charge of the queen’s care, and Grand Maester Desmond as well, sparing only Alys’s sisters.
It is said that Maegor was seated on the Iron Throne with the head of the Grand Maester in his hands when Queen Tyanna came to tell him he had been deceived. The child was not his seed. Seeing Queen Ceryse return to court, old and bitter and childless, Alys Harroway had begun to fear that the same fate awaited her unless she gave the king a son, so she had turned to her lord father, the Hand of the King. On the nights when the king was sharing a bed with Queen Ceryse or Queen Tyanna, Lucas Harroway sent men to his daughter’s bed to get her with child. Maegor refused to believe. He told Tyanna she was a jealous witch, and barren, throwing the Grand Maester’s head at her. “Spiders do not lie,” the mistress of the whisperers replied. She handed the king a list.
Written there were the names of twenty men alleged to have given their seed to Queen Alys. Old men and young, handsome men and homely ones, knights and squires, lords and servants, even grooms and smiths and singers; the King’s Hand had cast a wide net, it seemed. The men had only one thing in common: all were men of proven potency known to have fathered healthy children.
Under torture, all but two confessed. One, a father of twelve, still had the gold paid him by Lord Harroway for his services. The questioning was carried out swiftly and secretly, so Lord Harroway and Queen Alys had no inkling of the king’s suspicions until the Kingsguard burst in on them. Dragged from her bed, Queen Alys saw her sisters killed before her eyes as they tried to protect her. Her father, inspecting the Tower of the Hand, was flung from its roof to smash upon the stones below. Harroway’s sons, brothers, and nephews were taken as well. Thrown onto the spikes that lined the dry moat around Maegor’s Holdfast, some took hours to die; the simpleminded Horas Harroway lingered for days. The twenty names on Queen Tyanna’s list soon joined them, and then another dozen men, named by the first twenty.
The worst death was reserved for Queen Alys herself, who was given over to her sister-wife Tyanna for torment. Of her death we will not speak, for some things are best buried and forgotten. Suffice it to say that her dying took the best part of a fortnight, and that Maegor himself was present for all of it, a witness to her agony. After her death, the queen’s body was cut into seven parts, and her pieces mounted on spikes above the seven gates of the city, where they remained until they rotted.

omg your collar snippet was SO GOOD!!! i am desperate to know more! had jonny ever tried to wear a collar before pat? i'm guessing he hasn't explained all of the internal angst to pat, so for pat it's just a little quirk of jonny's, and he doesn't really mind? but for jonny it's this huge foundational thing that is crushing him in self-doubt and loathing 😭😭😭
when pat realizes what this means to jonny will he:
a) come hell or high water find a collar or collar substitute that jonny can wear
or
b) make it his personal mission to disabuse jonny of the notion that there could ever be anything wrong with him and show him how little the collar matters to him
or both!
Aw, thank you so much 😊
I don't think Jonny tried wearing a collar before Pat, or he wouldn't have been so surprised at his own violent reaction to it. Then again a lot of his reaction is colored by what he went through his rookie years, constantly feeling nauseous and his body essentially giving out on him in the playoffs (I get very emotional when I remember that it's canon 🥲). So I think at most he's tried one on maybe when he was young, like in his teens, just to see what it was like, horsing around with friends, and it was fine. It didn't mean anything. But with Pat, whoo boy, hell yeah it means something.
Jonny's also someone who doesn't share when he's feeling crappy (the bigger the thing the less words he'll lose about it), so I think Pat doesn't realize the extent of what's wrong until he really makes Jonny sit down and talk to him about it.
We've discussed a couple of the collar alternatives in the the other posts, so let's say in this verse Pat tries to offer some suggestions for alternatives but they all get rejected by Jonny. If he can't wear a collar, he doesn't want a substitute bracelet. It's not the same thing, Pat, and Jonny's not in the habit for settling for second best. If he can't have a collar, he'll tough it out without one.
Which means of course that Pat will have to make it his personal mission to get it into Jonny's thick (omg so thick 😂) skull that he loves Jonny no matter what and ffs Jonny is not 'failing at being an omega' (that's admittedly the tougher one of the two). I think that'll probably take a lot of reassurances, both verbal and physical, not just from Pat but also from Seabs and Sharpy and Jonny's family, maybe even some therapy on Jonny's side, working through those issues on the road to accepting himself.
And it's not always gonna be smooth sailing. There's gonna be the patches where Jonny's hung up on something like wearing a tie for a photoshoot and Pat's like "not this again", where they snap at each other over the kitchen counter and go to bed angry, their patience with each other thoroughly exhausted. There's gonna be setbacks, even years down the road, like Jonny seeing Dylan collar his girlfriend and leaving the ceremony because he suddenly needs some fresh air. But eventually Jonny's bare collar stops being a story and he's still the captain of the Hawks and Pat's his alpha, no matter what anyone else says. And you know what? I think they'll be okay.
Also, as a friend of mine pointed out: have they considered perhaps wedding rings instead
Which LMAO d'uhhhhh yeah okay maybe they'll just go that route, once it occurs to them. Maybe they, too, like me, need a friend to point it out first. Idiots (all of us) 😂
#no collar round my bones#maybe at some point some juniors omega comes up to Jonny and quietly tells him 'thanks for making it okay to not wear a collar'#and that's when jonny realizes he's not alone - and if he could make some baby hockey's life a little easier then that's worth something#i think seeing how he inadvertently affected others and helped them would be a big step in jonny's healing#together with copious trips to sedona and costa rica and probably some weed or shrooms or whatever the fuck#i am always here for hippie jonny learning how tf to chill in his old ripe age of 34 🥰#also i need you to know i wrote all this with a crab keeping me company 💜#1988#neb writes#dixie12#hockey baby

Do you notice that Gwynriel are trying so hard to paint Elain as this weak person. Its like they need to convince themselves that Elain will always below female characters like Gwyn or Mor just because she likes gardening.
Ohh and notice that they only used gardening as Elain only attribute and not her seer abilities. Like I never once see any Gwynriel misogynistic argument took her seer power in consideration. It always Elain the gardener and nothing else😂
I think they afraid to acknowledge Elain’s cauldron power bcoz yk that will make Elain less boring am i right? And they couldn’t stand it😭
The interesting thing about this is that they've done a similar thing to Gwyn herself. Because what is Gwyn? Gwyn's 'profession' is probably the least violent one in the history of the world--she is a librarian! (Btw, does anyone else think that she is based on Evie from 'The Mummy'? Or just me?) And the most interesting thing about her, her biggest contribution, is that she learned about the Valkyries, she learned about the ribbon and how it was a a standard of excellence for the Valkyries, and she learned about the mind stilling techniques that helped Nesta. NONE of her contributions, really, have anything to do at all with her so-called military knowhow. She used her brain and knowledge during the BD, to outsmart the warriors and send the beasts to them. She never even fought with anyone. She never even handled her dagger or sword really.
Yet the Gwynriels have made her into some caricature of a character, who is drunk on some bloodlust and who wants to fight and kill everyone. Just look at the so-called 'jokes' that they flood the tags with. Again, no appreciation for her intelligence, for her skills which have nothing to do with fighting anyone.
Same with Elain. When it was necessary, Elain fought and Elain killed. When it was necessary, Elain Saw and Elain helped. And Elain is just as valuable as a character, even if she doesn't fight.
Was Nesta to be discarded as a being and as a character before she picked up a sword? Or learned punches and kicks? All her other contributions were null?
Cressida, btw, was specifically described as not a fighter, but she helped out in disguising an entire army. And was loved by the troops.
Viviane wasn't a fighter, yet she shielded and protected the whole Court from Amarantha for 50 years.
Amren isn't a fighter, yet she saved the world.
Women, as a whole, have a lot more to offer the world than just waving sticks around. If it wasn't for women and 'gardening', we'd still be living in caves. We moved from hunter to farmer because women learned how to grow crops, wheat, learned how to mill it and make bread. And that's how civilization began.
I wish some women gave other women as a whole a little more credit.
