Hi!! I just found your blog and I love the way you write your headcanons! I was wondering if there's anyway you could write how each of the company in the hobbit would cuddle? or how they'd show physical affection? If not, that's fine, just thought I'd ask! (sorry if this is a bit weirdly worded I don't actually request things often lol, I've just been in such a the hobbit mood and found your blog and loved it immediately.)
Thank you sweetie and I'm so glad you love my headcanons 🥰 but this imagine YUS YUS YUS!!! My Hobbit mood has been coming in big ol waves of late heck yeah 🫡
Thorin’s Company + Physical Affection
Balin
✧ If you fall and he catches you, you may notice the way his hands wind around your waist and keep you for just a moment longer than absolutely necessary.
✧ Always the one who does your fastens for you and helps you into your coat, lingering touches therein as well.
✧ Sometimes his hand will just creep over as he listens to you, taking yours and drawing encouraging circles upon the back of it.
✧ Pulls you closer into his chest in the cold, whispering that it's alright, don't be shy as you melt into him.
✧ Almost always at your side with a hand placed gently but firmly upon your shoulder, half guiding, half guarding.
Dwalin
✧ This guy...is not very physically affectionate. You're going to have to coax it out of him like a stray cat.
✧ He enjoys sparring with you if you're down and you may notice he prefers pinning you or wrestling you down to, say, literally any other member of the company, but that feels like something beyond affection...
✧ "Are you hurt? Let me see." For the strength of his hands, he cradles your head, your arm, whatever it may be, so gently and warmly.
✧ Acts exasperated when you show up at his side to cuddle, accepts only “because it’s so cold, I suppose it’d be right”, then wraps his arms around you and holds you against his chest as tight as he can.
✧ Seated at a table, Dwalin will keep an arm draped over the back of your chair at all times.
Thorin
✧ His hands go to you first after any sort of danger, holding you back initially then laying a hand on your shoulder as he checks you over, ensuring no harm came to you.
✧ Asks for your hand, taking it in his when your travels get difficult so as to lead you along the safest path he can find.
✧ Wraps you up in his coat, his hands sliding down your arms after he drapes it upon you, staying like that for a moment with his chest to your back.
✧ Big spoon. That feeling of care, of presiding over your warmth and safety and everything Thorin can give absolutely translates to your sleep, your solace. It means the world to him if he can be your comfort.
✧ Even in idle times, Thorin tends to stand with a hand wrapped around your waist, not grasping you tightly or restricting you in any way, but simply enough to keep you near and make it clear that you are his.
Oin
✧ Offering massages is basically a love language for him. The others are always asking him and sometimes he gets annoyed or just does it grudgingly, but when it is you? He takes his time, uses your favorite oils, savors the connection between you two and your hums of pleasure.
✧ Oin loves asking you for help just as an excuse to have you near, your hands darting beneath his to grab supplies or holding down his work, his own coming to cover yours as often as he can spare them.
✧ In the moments you get to sit next to each other, his hand will gingerly rest over yours. If you tense up at all, you can feel his grip tighten just a little bit, giving you a reassuring squeeze.
✧ Likes loose cuddling, simply your arms draped over his side as you rest alongside each other. Also not-so-secretly enjoys being the little spoon- indulge him every now and again!
✧ Has been known to give your cheeks the occasional affectionate pinch or squeeze, just smiling and chuckling giddily to himself at the sight of you before he leans in for a kiss.
Gloin
✧ Always fussing over your hair, whether it's getting things out of it or even knowing its entire care routine and performing it for you if you let him, his hands dressing it practically reverently.
✧ Gets bored, forgets himself and plays with your hands. If you wear rings, he probably slides those around or spins them a bit. He enjoys intertwining your fingers again and again and keeping both of your hands in his as he peers at you.
✧ When simply standing around, he sometimes will stand behind you and drape his arms over your shoulders as if claiming you.
✧ Will practically wrestle you into position if you try to make him little spoon. You have to get him tired enough before he’ll accept not being the one to hold you.
✧ Grabs you up into the biggest, bone-crushing in the best of ways, bear hugs you've ever had the pleasure of being swept into.
Bifur
✧ Speech can be so difficult, the feeling of trying without success so frustrating that a meaningful touch is simpler and infinitely more calming. A favorite of his is a simple hand on the shoulder, a gesture of care.
✧ He also loves teasingly elbowing you to get your attention, whether it's to show you something or just to say hello!
✧ Tracing each and every line and curvature of your face is his guilty pleasure; it is as though he is at work silently memorizing your every feature.
✧ Looser with cuddling, the feeling sometimes suffocating, especially if he has a nightmare. Rather than cage you in or be caged in, Bifur prefers the simple feeling of your hand upon his chest or your head leaned against his while you sleep.
✧ Absolutely loves decorating you, feeling like an attendant to royalty as he slides rings onto your finger, bracelets and necklaces he made around your neck or wrist. Such moments are some of the most tender between you, the way he looks at you afterward and the way his hands caress you after each beauty is set to magnifying yours.
Bofur
✧ Has a little habit of just taking your hand and twirling you when you stand together, almost as if you're dancing in place.
✧ When you truly are dancing, you know Bofur will be dipping you down for a kiss nearly every time!
✧ Cuddling is all over the place. Snakes his arms around you and pulls you into his lap when he’s feeling particularly merry. Lays facing you before sleep, your legs tangled together in the most wonderful mess.
✧ Bofur has this little habit of falling onto you when you’re laughing together, playfully shoving you before his hands fall into your lap or grab your knee.
✧ Hugs from Bofur often turn into him picking you up and spinning you around!
Bombur
✧ As I've mentioned, he is the best with a partner who has anxiety, basically becoming a living weighted blanket atop you.
✧ Though shy and subtle he can be with his initial affections, Bombur is very cuddly. The greatest cuddler, in fact. Your shared bedroll is the coziest one of the whole lot.
✧ Has been known to, upon being in a bolder mood, turn his head when you lean to kiss his cheek, capturing your lips instead! Has the biggest smile upon success, so you can never be upset.
✧ Pulls you into a hug the moment you say or do something cute.
✧ Great acts of service fellow as he is, Bombur will often offer things like scratching your back or rubbing tension from your neck as a means of getting closer while still providing for you.
Dori
✧ Small, subtle touches, like letting his hands cover yours when you accept the steaming mug of tea he hands you.
✧ He also loves running a thumb over the back of your hand when you sit side by side, sharing that one point of connection between you two.
✧ Always does a cute little tap to your knee after he laces up your boots for you, a little wink topping the endearing gesture off.
✧ The type who loves to lay with your heads against each other, cheeks brushing, especially as you look at the stars, discussing everything beneath the sun and very well likely some things not beneath it at all.
✧ Shocks you when you sit at a table and you feel his hand on your knee, and again when it moves up and down, tracing a little pattern on your thigh.
Nori
✧ I still maintain that Nori would be the main perpetrator of the classic yawning or stretching as an excuse to put an arm around you. Once you're pulled in, though? Good luck getting back out! You are nothing if not secure in his grasp.
✧ Cheekily sliding his hand into your pocket, especially if you have a back pocket, is his favorite.
✧ If there is any possibility of him not being able to hear you, Nori will lean in as close as he can, possibly even drawing you forward with a hand beneath your chin, grinning if you get flustered.
✧ Ideal cuddling position, you ask? Why, with him on top of you, obviously! Enough said.
✧ When it isn’t in your pocket, he nearly always has a hand at the small of your back when you walk. He occasionally uses it to guide you, but mostly he likes to run it up and down your spine, occasionally running his nails down too, giving you a cheeky look when he does it.
Ori
✧ Oscillates between being too shy to show physical affection and a natural propensity to misunderstand personal space. For example, he'll probably not want to kiss you in front of his older brothers lest they tease him, but when he gets excited about his latest drawing he practically throws his arms entirely around you to show you his sketchpad.
✧ Shares his scarf with you, winding the two of you both into its long, thick warmth and flushing as you lean in closer and closer beneath it.
✧ The kisses you share in private are almost desperate, hands clinging to whatever fold of fabric they can reach to draw each other in.
✧ Enjoys pretty much any way you lie together, facing each other, back to back, you name it, Ori is eager for it!
✧ Rubs your hands between his own to keep you warm, straightens your clothes up for you, little tending touches that lead to kisses upon your hands or head.
Fili
✧ Gives amazing hugs, pulling you into his arms and soothingly, lovingly sliding a hand up and down your back.
✧ So sweet, he loves swinging your joined hands between you both if you are granted the opportunity for a leisurely stroll.
✧ Always wants to be the big spoon when you guys cuddle, that position feeling much more protective of you, secure as he can hold you.
✧ Sneaks up behind you to cover your eyes, asking ‘guess who’ and chuckling at the way you startle if he catches you by surprise.
✧ Offers you his arm when you walk together and smiling when you link yours with his and rest your hand upon his upper arm.
Kili
✧ In love with physical affection. Who cares who sees you? Not this dwarven prince, that is certain! Completely unafraid to pull you into his lap and hold you, pride crossing his face.
✧ Pulls your joined hands into his pockets as you walk side by side.
✧ When he teaches you how to shoot, he guides you smoothly by the hips, hands running down your sides and along the length of your arms until you reach the proper stance.
✧ His favorite way to cuddle is you lain upon his chest, your head against his heart and right there for him to place kisses atop.
✧ You two are a tangled mess at fireside, someone’s legs always thrown upon the other’s lap.
Bilbo
✧ Rather than show you over-the-top affection, Bilbo is the sort to just stay glued to your side, joining you at the hip for even the most mundane tasks even if it’s under the guise of “getting a break from all the dwarves”.
✧ Similarly, he’ll offer to hold your hands “because it’s quite crowded” or “just so you don’t fall, it’s a bit steep here and all”.
✧ When you sit together at the fireside, he may get flustered but he absolutely loves it when you lay your head upon his shoulder.
✧ He also favors being little spoon, not that he would necessarily tell you that out loud, but you can feel the way he relaxes, hums in contentment against you.
✧ Bilbo gets surprisingly protective, though, shifting you behind him or moving you aside by your waist when danger strikes.

Just Five Minutes More - Fili x Reader | Fluff
Summary: It'd been a long day for both you and Fili. You both just need each other to get through the night
Word Count: 618
Date Posted: 05.27.23
TW: AFAB language used
|| Masterlist || Request Here || Ask Me Stuff ||
Fili had had a long day of his princely duties. Meetings had dragged on and on. Thorin had yelled at him not once but three times that day. Fili felt awful, but he didn’t blame Thorin. The King was having a hard day too. The worst part was that the meetings hadn’t even felt productive. It was just around and around the table arguing the exact same points over and over again. It was exhausting.
You’d spent a long tiring day in the Erebor clothier. A cold running rampant under the mountain had befallen the other two seamstresses you worked with. They’d be fine, of course, but you had to pick up the slack for the time being. Thorin’s cloak wasn’t going to line itself, along with the six other projects that were piling up. The workload had started to become overwhelming, and you’d be a liar to say that you hadn’t locked yourself in the fabric closet to have a good cry.
By the time you could drag yourself back to your quarters, you wanted nothing but a good bath and to disappear deep beneath your thick blankets. You settled for crawling beneath your covers as the effort to draw a bath at the moment was just too much for you. Not even a full ten minutes after you had gotten comfortable did you hear a knock at your door. You groaned loudly as you approached the door, wanting to bang your head against it and curse whoever was on the other side.
“Fili?” As you pulled the door open, you asked, “What are you doing here?”
“I know it’s not proper, Y/n, to just show up at your door like this when we are unwed, but I needed to see my little hobbit. You’d not believe the kind of day I’ve had.”
You nodded, stepping aside to let him in. You needed his touch and the feeling of his skin against yours. He stripped down just to the thin under fabric that acted as underwear, though dwarves were not known for their modesty. You copied him, stripping down to a thin slip dress with an open back. Fili climbed into bed, spooning you and tucking his head against your shoulder, just taking in the way that you smelt like freshly baked bread and lavender.
You’d always admired the way that Fili seemed to be fearless, even from the moment you’d met. He walked right up to you and asked your name and what had brought you to Erebor. Though he wasn’t as much of a relentless flirt as Kili had proven himself to be. He’d taken his time, ripping holes in his tunics and trousers just to have an excuse to visit you. Fili eventually asked you to accompany him for a drink.
Ever since that night, Fili had been smitten with you. It didn’t take him long to realize that you were the one for him. He carved you two beautiful beads, one a lion, representing himself as you saw him; one a sunflower, representing your beauty as he saw you.
You don’t know when you fell asleep with Fili’s thick arms wrapped tightly around you. You were woken by the rumbling in your stomach, having gone to bed without dinner the night before. You slowly tried to remove yourself from Fili’s grasp.
“No,” He groaned, pulling you tightly back against him, pecking kissed along your shoulder blades, “Stay…”
“Fi, I’m hungry. We didn’t eat dinner last night.”
“Five more minutes, Amralimé. Then I will have the kitchens send up breakfast.”
You chuckled to yourself, loving the affection that he was showering you with. You let yourself relax further into his grasp.
“Five minutes.”

TREAT!!
Thorin please
I'm sorry for waiting so long with this, but ultimately it worked out well because I need an excuse to write something happy tonight!
So I had this idea once upon a time of what if there was a friendship between Thorin and Legolas pre-fall of Erebor...
Thorin stood next to his father, trying to resist the urge to sigh. He gripped his sleeves and squirmed in place until his father’s firm hand landed on his shoulder. He looked up at the older dwarf who only gave him a small shake of his head. Even though pouting was not ‘princely behavior’, Thorin could still feel his brows pulling together against his will. It’s just that this was so booooooring.
“On behalf of Mirkwood, Erebor welcomes: King Thranduil and Prince Legolas, to welcome Princess Dis to the world.”
Thorin felt his father tense beside him, and there were grumbles from the rest of the royal dwarves at having to deal with elves. Thorin, on the other hand, immediately perked up in anticipation. This wasn’t his first encounter with Prince Legolas. When he had come for Frerin’s welcoming, Thorin had thrown his wooden sword at him because he had heard elves had super fast reflexes and he wanted to test it out.
Of course, Thorin had gotten in trouble for it, but once Legolas realized Thorin was not trying to attack him, he ended up forming a game of sorts with Thorin. Thorin would pretend to shoot an arrow at him, and somehow Legolas always saw, caught the arrow, and was able to shoot it back at him. Their game always ended with Thorin getting a small swat on his backside to behave, but he was convinced he could catch the elf off guard this time.
Thorin waited until Legolas was handing over their gift to his mother for Dis. (He still didn’t understand why a baby needed all these presents.) With his back to Thorin, the dwarf prince saw his chance to strike. Pretending to draw back a bow, he quickly released. With perfect timing, Legolas opened his hand behind his back as if he were catching the arrow. He then made a motion as if he were twirling it around his fingers, before pretending to fire the arrow back. All without having turned around. Thorin still caught the smirk on his face.
Jumping out of the way, and slightly behind his father, he carefully avoided the imaginary blow. The real one came from the hand around his neck as his adad leaned in close to his ear.
“Thorin, zubdabudê (my tiny lord), I need you to be patient just a little while longer.”
“Okayyyy.” Thorin grumbled trying to shake his hand off.
Thrain gave him a small squeeze before letting go. Thorin sought out his opponent again, only to see he and his father were beating a retreat. A little disappointed and frustrated that their game was ending so soon, Thorin huffed before pulling back his imaginary bow a lot quicker and less sneaky this time. He thought for sure he had him, until Legolas took a step to the side, pretending to catch an arrow as it would have sailed right before his face. Thranduil gave him a confused look before turning back to see the pout on Thorin’s face. Legolas smiled at him and waved goodbye, not even bothering to return his “arrow” until they were almost to the door.
It was so aggravating. Stupid elf.
“Thrain.” Thorin’s mom murmured to her husband.
“Hmm?”
“The elf prince just made the oddest request.”
“What did he say?”
“He wants to offer Thorin archery lessons.”
Thorin perked up in surprise as he looked up at his parents who wore perplexed expressions.
“Adad, can I?” Thorin pleaded, tugging on Thrain’s pant leg.
“We’ll…talk about it later.”
Thorin went back to standing there, trying not to fidget too badly as he practically vibrated with excitement. A real bow. Surely he would get that pesky, tricky elf then!

8. Situation
They passed one trouble, only to run into a bigger one yet. The company was being tracked by a pack of orcs, but luckily another wizard had come to their aid. Radagast the brown drew the orcs away, while Gandalf lead the dwarves another. To their unfortunate luck, one stray orc had discovered their hiding spot, but Kili shot it down. Unfortunately, the murder was quite loud, drawing the attention of the pack. Gandalf lead them down a hovel, and Thorin and Kili slid in just as a stampede went by.
There sounded war horns and clashing swords, then a shot Orc rolled into their hiding cave. Thorin pulled out to the arrow in its chest, and growled at its origins.
"Elves," he grumbled to Gandalf.
Dwalin found a trail which the company was eager to follow, but much less eager to cross. It was a narrow and tight path in itself, their discomfort rising when the Durin boys quarreled.
"You hand's touching my butt!" One whined, whacking the other's hands away.
"Well, your weapons are in my face!" The other one whined back, pushing his brother hard.
"Boys!" Aria scolded. "We're all cramped! You're not making it easier."
They continued to walk on, until Kili shoved Fili again.
"So help me Mahal, I will cut you both in half!" Thorin yelled this time. "Shut up and behave! We're almost there!"
They came out on top of a hill, a waterfall trickling beside them. In front of them was a hidden valley, with plenty more waterfalls that lead into the river below.
"The valley of Imladris," Gandalf announced as everyone else was lost in its majesty. "In the common tongue, it is known by another name."
"Rivendell."
As the rest of the company went on closer, Thorin went back to Gandalf, Aria following.
"This was your plan all along. To seek refuge with our enemy!"
"You have no enemies here, Thorin Oakenshield. The only ill will to be found in this valley is that which you bring yourself."
"You think the elves will give our quest their blessing?" Aria asked.
"They will try to stop us!" Thorin grumbled.
"Of course they will. But we have questions that need to be answered. If we are to be successful, this will need to be handled with tact, respect, and no small degree of charm."
Aria looked between Thorin and Gandalf, and smiled.
"Which is why you will leave the talking, to me."
Gandalf lead them to the courtyard, where they were corralled in by war horses, lead by their host.
"Gandalf!"
"Lord Elrond." Gandalf acknowledged his friend.
"Strange for Orcs to come so close to our borders. Something or someone," he eyed the dwarves, "has drawn them near."
"That may have been us." Thorin walked up to them.
"Welcome, Thorin, son of Thrain."
"I do not believe we have met." Thorin coldly answered the elf's greeting.
"You have your grandfather's bearing. I knew Thror when he ruled Under the Mountain."
"Indeed? He made no mention of you."
Aria pulled on Thorin's shoulder and drew him back, while Elrond simply smiled and turned to Gandalf, speaking in his native tongue.
"What is he saying?" Dwalin asked.
"Does he offer us insult?" Gloin struggled to the front.
"No, Master Gloin, he's offering you food." "Well, in that case, lead on."
They had dinner with the elves, annoyed by elvish music and disappointed at the lack of meat on the table. Still, they enjoyed each other's company, laughing at another's expense. Thorin and Gandalf sat aside with Lord Elrond as he introduced to them the elvish swords they had picked up from the troll horde. Soon Gandalf became too chatty, and Elrond too inquisitive, and the dwarf king excused himself from the table.
Aria meanwhile, had welcomed the elven hospitality, enchanted by the legend of Imladris. Lord Elrond had graciously welcomed them into his home, allowing them to rest and bath before dinner. There were quarters offered to them; some had to share, the king got his own, and Aria, being the only lady, was given her own room as well.
She changed into the clothes her hosts provided her with, and enjoyed a snack of fruits by herself in her room. When she left to join the company, Aria found them merrily singing on the tables, making a mess out of Lord Elrond's dining room. She found Thorin missing from the gathering, and instead decided to seek him out.
Aria instead snuck around the halls of Rivendell, exploring Imladris until she came across the room Thorin was in. The doors alone were beautiful, but the room took her breath away. Fit for a king indeed. There was a giant four poster bed at one side of the room and windows leading to a terrace on the other. But straight ahead of her was a light curtain, that wasn't doing much to hide what lay past.
Without making a noise, Aria crept up and pulled the curtain aside to take a peak: there was a bathing pool in the middle of the place, made of salmon marble. In it, she spotted Thorin's hair spilling out over the edge as he sat in the water, probably asleep. Carefully and thoughtfully she picked up her skirt and worked on stepping around to the other side of the pool, but the cool and wet floor made her lose her footing.
Her right food slid and she squealed before she could stop herself, and fell left side first into the pool. Aria wasn't under long before big, strong hands got her up right. She let out a loud gasp as Thorin pulled her out of the water, shock and water in her nose put her brain into life saving mode.
"You're alright, cough it up." Thorin coaxed gently as Aria roughly forced the water out of her breathing tubes.
"Aria?" Thorin's confused voice asked as he peeled off the hair sticking on her face. Since the past minute, this was the first time he'd got to see who had fallen in.
Aria flipped her hair back and grabbed Thorin's shoulders as the water bobbed her up and down. Finding her eyesight, she blushed and let out a nervous laugh.
"Well, then! I assume that has got to be the least attractive attempt someone's made towards you."
Thorin smirked a laugh. "Not the most attractive perhaps, but the most amusing." He laughed at her childishness and grabbed her waist, attempting to take her out. "Let's get you out of here before you catch a cold."
He'd already turned to the ledge before Aria grabbed his shoulder and forced him back. He let out an unconscious growl, meaning to be threatening, but it only made butterflies in her stomach.
"What are you doing, Aria?" His hand fisted at the clothing on her waist, obviously knowing what she was doing.
"Taking advantage of you." Aria replied suggestively as she pushed herself closer to Thorin, the water rippling around them.
"Taking advantage of your... situation."

Braids and Misunderstandings (Thorin x Reader)
Requested by @elia-the-bibliophile: Hi can I request a Thorin x fem human! reader where they’re married with 3 little dwarfling & they’re having a family time in their quarter in Erebor when their children ask them about how they meet each other, maybe it started with a misinterpretation between the 2 of you when you asked for Thorin’s help to braid your long hair but Thorin sees it as an invitation to court you (as per dwarvish custom) thank you!
Fandom: The Hobbit
Warnings: none just a load of toe curling fluff
A/N: I'm backkk. Felt like doing some writing and this request was too cute to not write, although it was a bit hard because I don’t like children and can’t write endings. Anyway hope you like!
Your bedroom is in chaos. Your chambers mess was a result of getting your three children ready for Kili and Tauriel's wedding. The stress of each child changing their outfit three times or kicking their shoes off every five seconds, resulted in clothes lining every surface and shoes scattered haphazardly on the ground. And yet, coming home from the wedding and getting them to bed proves to be an even bigger task for Thorin and you.
"Ouch amad that hurts!" Your youngest, Melva, squeals on your lap as you try to brush her unruly locks.
"I'm sorry ghivashel," you hush her, gently bobbing your knee, "I'm nearly done I promise."
"Tyrig stop tugging your buttons, your mother just sewed them back on!" You look up at Thorin scolding your son, while he struggles to get Elaina into her nightgown.
"There, all done." You announce proudly as you clasp the last bead.
"No! I don't want braids!" Melva cries pulling out the braids you had just finished.
Sighing in exhaustion you pull her hands away from her head. "Good girls have neat braids nathith."
"How come Elaina doesn't have to!"
"Elaina's not ready for bed yet," Your eyes go to her sister, warning her to listen to her father. "She still needs to put her nightgown on and wash her face. Then adad will do her hair."
"Adad can braid hair?" Melva looks up at you, her eyebrows raised.
"Melva!" Thorin exclaims, hands clutching his heart feigning offence making his daughter giggle in your lap. "I taught your amad how to braid!" This gets the attention of all three children and both you and Thorin make use of their distracted state and get them ready for bed as you talk.
"Is that true?" Tyrig asks getting under the sheets.
"Yep," You nod. "Your father and I met because of braiding too."
"What are you telling them now amrâlimê?" Thorin asks coming out of the bathroom with a clean Elaina in his arms.
"Just about how we met."
"Ahh you mean when you proposed to me the first time we spoke."
"What?!" All three children scream in unison, making the two of you laugh.
"That's not true!" Slapping Thorin's chest. "It was just a small misunderstanding." You say as you put the last child in bed.
"What really happened amad?" Elaina asks. You look at the three sleepy dwarflings and back at Thorin who smiles softly, perching next to you on the bed. "If I tell you will you promise to go to sleep straight after."
The three of them nod enthusiastically ready to hear a new story, satisfied with their answer you lean against your husband and begin to retell it.
--
After the destruction of Erebor and your home in Laketown, you had fled with your best friend, Dis Durin, and the rest of her kin. Feeling more at home amongst the dwarves than your own kind.
Your friendship with Dis had grown since your days in Erebor, you were there for the dwarf-woman when her brother died and father left. You were there when the dwarves barely made it to the Iron Hills alive, and you were there when Dis had found her One.
You were ecstatic when she announced her engagement, and asked you to help with wedding preparations. You fulfilled the role of maid of honour proudly, and took it upon yourself to make sure every detail was executed to perfection.
Slipping into the lavender dress you sewed yourself, after finding nothing in the dwarven markets that would fit you for the ceremony, you move onto braiding your hair into the updo Dis had drawn out for you and the bridesmaids.
Brushing your long locks you stare at the drawing in bewilderment, what is it with dwarves and braids?
Hesitantly, you start off braiding sections of your hair, weaving them together to recreate Dis' design. Thinking you had done well you look in the mirror eyes flicking back to the drawing and sigh at the mess on your head. Untying the braids and restarting again.
But after several tries and aching arms you give up, huffing on your stool in frustration. Not having much time before the wedding begins, you grab the drawing and leave the room to seek help.
You wander frantically around trying to look for anyone who can help, when you finally spot Dis' brother leaving his own room.
You'd never really talked to Thorin before, aside from the polite greetings in corridors or grieving condolences at funerals. You made sure to keep out of the King's way, because even if Dis had profusely told you Thorin didn't mind your company, you still weren't sure if he was okay with a woman joining his kin. Right now, however, you could use all the help you could get.
"Thorin!" You hiss after him, taking in his appearance. He was dressed in his finery making you stop short as you admire him. His hair and beard neatly braided, fur coat sitting proudly on broad shoulders and you can't help but admire the muscle on the dwarf.
When he calls your name you quickly come to your senses and smile bashfully up at him. "I was hoping you would braid my hair for me?" You ask nervously, tugging on a loose lock oblivious to Thorin's crestfallen face.
"I-uh-m-me?" He stutters taken aback by your question.
Having only ever admired you from afar Thorin would never have thought his crush was requited. This was the longest conversation he's had with you, and though he's dreamt of this countless of times he never thought you would propose to him so casually.
"Yes!" You blurt out. "Please Thorin, I can't think of anyone else to do it." You grab his hand in desperation, and Thorin has never felt so conflicted.
"Your hair is always so neatly braided, and Dis told me to recreate this," You wave the drawing in his face "and you know how she is, I just want it to look right."
Thorin gingerly takes the note from your hand, his callous fingers brush against yours, inciting goosebumps to travel up your arm. His eyes flick between the drawing and you, scratching the back of his neck and chuckling in embarrassment, before nodding his head at your wide eyed expression.
"Of course, Y/N." He says softly, leading you into his room.
You try to calm your nerves when you follow the king into his personal chambers, who quickly moves the pile of clothes on his bed, shoving them into a wardrobe.
"Uh- sorry about that. I hadn't really planned on what to wear." He excuses himself sheepishly, face burning when you giggle at his antics.
He moves you to the dressing table, sitting you on the stool and begins lightly raking his fingers through your hair. Your back goes rigid when his fingers tickle the back of your neck.
Thorin can't breathe. Just looking at you through the mirror, hair flowing over your bare shoulders makes his breath hitch. He had only ever seen you with your hair up. And yet here he is, fingers brushing through your long locks, mind cloudy as your lavender smell invades his senses. There is a reason why braiding is an intimate act.
He shakes his head of any impure thoughts and grabs the brush ready to start on the detailed design. Sectioning and braiding he falls into a rhythmic pattern and begins to ease up. Stopping short when he sees you shiver, glancing over to the open window.
"Apologies for the cold y/n, the furs were making me hot." he says breaking the silence, shrugging off his coat and placing it on your shoulders.
You smile and thank him snuggling into the thick fabric that smells of him. You begin to forget it's the king who's standing behind you, and start to relax into his touch, making light conversation and playing with the bits and bobs lying on his dressing table. Or staring at Thorin as he focuses on braiding, hiding your smile when he sticks his tongue out in concentration.
You inspect a box full of beads, recognising them as the ones Thorin wears in his hair. Up close like this, you can tell each intricately carved bead is different. The newer, shinier ones are probably gifts whilst the worn down and smoother beads must be passed down from generation to generation. You wonder if Thorin would allow you to wear one to the wedding and rifle through them.
A particular bead captures your attention, the carving seems slightly rougher than the others but you can see the effort and love put into it. You pluck the bead from the box marvelling at the craftsmanship. Did Thorin make this?
"Ok Y/N I'm nearly done." Thorin says softly, your eyes snap to the mirror and you stare in awe at what he's managed to achieve, finally understanding what Dis' drawing meant.
"Thorin it's beautiful!" You gasp eyes meeting his through the mirror, the beaming smile lighting up your face making Thorin's heart beat a little faster.
"You look beautiful Y/N." He nods in agreement.
You blush heavily and quickly look down so as not to embarrass yourself in front of him. Your attention going back to the bead clasped in your hand.
"Thorin," you gaze back up at him to see him already looking at you, "Could I put this in my hair too? I've always wanted the dwarven beads and you have so many…" You trail off hoping you haven't stepped over the line. You know dwarves take their hair very seriously.
Thorin nods enthusiastically, repeating over and over in his head that you don't know the dwarvish customs, that this isn't you reciprocating his feelings. Even so, his face falls when you turn and place the chosen bead in his hand. What was wrong? Had you overstepped?
He looks up to see your concerned eyes and clears his throat uncomfortably. "You want this specific one?" He asks tentatively. You nod not knowing if you had done something wrong.
"I didn't mean to offend you," you rush out. "I just thought it looked very pretty, the carving is beautiful did you do it yourself?"
Thorin nods silently and you can feel the awkwardness rising. Clearly it meant a lot to him.
"Actually it's fine. My hair looks beautiful as it is and it was rude of me to ask, I know beads and hair mean a lot to dwarves, I didn't mean to overstep." You apologise reaching for the bead, but Thorin moves his hand away from you, a strained laugh escapes his lips as he does so. You look up at him and see determination replacing his hesitant eyes.
"You truly have no idea on what braiding means, do you." He asks and you shake your head. "To braid someone's hair is to promise to court them."
Oh, that actually makes a lot of sen- OHH! Oh Mahal no! Had you really been this stupid?! Realisation hits you and you apologise profusely to Thorin, the horror evident on your face makes him laugh. "Don't worry Y/N I know you didn't mean it that way."
You look up at Thorin and take in his amused expression. You try to hide your embarrassment and turn on your stool. Avoiding his eyes in the mirror, you allow him to finish your hair.
However Thorin hesitates, deep in thought. His entertained expression falls as he grips the bead tightly in his fist. Do you feel embarrassed about the idea of being courted by him?
"I made this bead when I became of age to start courting." He begins. "It's carved from stone found in the mines back in Erebor. It's rather ordinary, my father was surprised and tried to persuade me to use gems instead. But I insisted because it's a piece of me that I would want to gift my One. It's home."
Thorin's eyes are still on the bead when you look at him, his face marred into a conflicted expression. You turn and thread your hand through his, drawing his attention to you and giving him a rueful smile. You felt touched he was sharing this with you and it spurred confidence within you.
"It's so precious Thorin. Any girl would be honoured to wear it." Your voice hushed as all you can hear is your heart pounding.
I want you to wear it. The sentence seems so simple, so innocent, but stuck on the tip of his tongue. Thorin doesn't know your heart or feelings, he doesn't know how you'll react to him proposing to you or how Laketown men propose to women. How he wishes he could just say it, to see the joy in your eyes when he does. Opening his mouth, struggling to find the right words the sentence tumbles from his lips.
"I want y-"
"Thorin have you seen…" The two of you jump apart when Dis bursts into the room. "Y/N! I've been looking for you! Where have you been?!"
"I-I can't braid hair and that drawing you did was complicated so I got Thorin to do it." You stutter slightly, eyes flying to Thorin who keeps his gaze fixed on his sister, scratching the back of his neck in embarrassment. What was he going to say?
"I'll finish it off for you later. The florists just got here and he's brought the wrong shade of flowers I mean how difficult is it to…" The soon to be bride carries on ranting, taking you by the arm and leading you out of the room before you can utter a word in reply. You throw an apologetic look to the King before the door shuts behind you.
Thorin slumps onto the stool you had just been sitting on. Raking a hand through his hair he looks down at the courting bead still clutched in his fist. Sighing he places it back into the box and picks up the coat that slipped from your shoulders, your lavender smell still lingering in the fabric. Making himself presentable again he leaves his chambers and goes to help with the last minute wedding preparations, determined to be the first person you dance with.
--
"That's it?!" Tyrig demands hands flying in the air. "You didn't even propose?" The three dwarflings lie in bed unhappy with the ending.
"Yep aunty Dis ruined it all." Thorin says casually earning a whack from you. "What it's true if she wasn't there these three would probably be about two years older." He defends earning another whack.
"Two years?!" The eldest shouts, catching onto your husbands remark. "You waited two years!"
"Timing is everything ghivashel, I regret nothing." You say getting up. "No more questions now, you'll have to save them for breakfast you promised you'd go to sleep remember." This earns a chorus of groans from your children.
Kissing them goodnight you leave their room, Thorin taking your hand as you make your way to clear the rest of the mess in your chamber.
"Did you mean what you said." Thorin whispers into the dead of night, when you're both curled up in bed. "Do you really regret nothing?"
Snuggling into him, wrapping an arm round his neck and giving him a long chaste kiss you lay your head on his chest.
"I wouldn't change a thing. Menu tessu." You whisper back, happily falling asleep after a long and tiring day. You feel Thorin press one last kiss to your hair, before he too gives into the darkness.
And just as you both close your eyes in bliss, your youngest starts crying making you both groan.
Ghivashel = treasure of all treasures
amad/adad/nathith = mother/father/daughter
Amrâlimê = my love
Menu tessu = you mean everything to me

Commission @rowandor
Note: @rowandor here it is, love! I hope you like it ❤
Thorin:
It took a little while for Thorin to get to know you, as he wasn’t really focused on forming friendships but rather on the quest ahead of him. And with yourself being rather shy and introverted the two of you didn’t really talk, at first.
However during the quest he started to notice more and more things about you, like the fact you carried a lot of different notebooks with you. He became intrigued and when he stole a glance he saw you sketching the most beautiful drawings, and before he knew it he had asked you about them and the two of you started a conversation.
When Thorin and you were on night watch he would often ask you about your many talents and interests, thinking it was amazing that you could do so many things (not that he’d tell you that, of course). He found your shy demeanour endearing, and he felt a small sense of pride when he noticed your growing more and more comfortable with him, eager to hear more interesting facts from you
When in a relationship with you, Thorin would get you all kinds of (courting)gifts having your talents in mind; expensive paints and brushes, beautiful handbound sketchbooks, gorgeous writing supplies for you to write your stories with (please read them to him, he loves to hear about your stories).
He would also take you to all kinds of theatre shows, and encourage you to participate in them. And you can bet he will always be there to see you perform.
Thorin knows he’s hit the jackpot when in a council meeting, you come up with the most creative ideas and solutions for rebuilding Erebor, and they work. He’s grinning to himself like heck yeah, look how smart and creative my wife is.
Thorin is pretty introverted as well. Like yeah, he arranges council meetings and attends feasts, but often only because he has to as the king of Erebor. He’d much rather spend his time with you cuddled up in your shared chambers, just talking and enjoying each other's company while you do your own things.
Thorin would never get mad at you if your depression made you incapable of doing your daily duties. He’d tell you to take you a few days off to just relax and take your mind off things. When your anxiety acts up during a council meeting, you’d just have to give Thorin a sign and he’d come up with an excuse for you on why you have to leave.
Fili:
Fili quickly became intrigued by you when he noticed that, although you were always polite and nice when talking with the others, you would often sit by yourself and do something for yourself. Every now and then he would sit with you, and ask you about what you were doing. He knew you were a bit shy, so he tried to take it slow, but he really wanted to know more about you, and when you finally let him in he was so happy.
He thinks it’s so amazing you can do so many wonderful things, and he’s not afraid to ask you to teach him some things, and he’s more than happy to teach you some cool tricks with his blades, if you are interested, that is.
One time he jokingly asked you to make a painting of him, and when you actually did it he fell in love. He shows it off to everyone, saying “look what she made! It’s beautiful!!”
Fili respects that, because you’re introverted, you don’t like to attend big gatherings and such, and he often helps you out avoiding such events, making up excuses for you. The fact that you are an introvert who prefers to spend most of her time in her room is a bonus for him too, because that means he gets to have you all to himself.
He think you’re so amazing, with your strange and mysterious aura, and he thinks it’s so cute when you ramble on about something you’re passionate about, and he will ask you a million questions about it, both because he’s genuinely interested but also because he loves seeing that excited spark in your eyes.
Please tell him everything about what’s going on in your imagination. Fili is so fascinated by what’s going on in your head and he wants to know everything.
He would be so honored if you let him proof-read your stories.
Fili knows when you start feeling really anxious. He will take your hand in his and try to direct as much attention as possible away from you to him. If you need to leave the room he would simply kiss your forehead and lead you outside, helping you calm down and telling you it’ll be alright.
When your depression gets too much, Fili would hold you tight, softly swaying you and letting you pour your heart out to him. He would dry your tears, kiss you and whisper sweet nothings into your ear, reminding you that you’re not a bad person for being mentally ill, that things will get better and that he will stay with you until they do.
Kili:
Oh he was infatuated with you since the moment you two met.
You were just so mysterious and interesting! How could he not want to know everything about you?
He thought your shy demeanour was adorable! And it only made him want to get to know you more.
He’d try to find out as much as possible about your interests and talents so he could talk about them with you, and he loves it when you tell him all kinds of different facts.
Kili would want to spend as much time with you as possible, but when you tell him you’re an introvert and need time alone he respects that, and gives you space when you need it.
Kili is your number one supporter in everything you do; you’re performing in a show? He’s gonna be on the front row cheering you on and being mesmerized by you. You’ve written a new story and need someone to proofread? He’s right there! You made a new painting or drawing? Kili’s gonna show it to the whole of Erebor and then hang it somewhere in your room where you can always see it.
I can totally imagine Kili asking you if he can draw with you, and then when you show each other your drawings you made a beautiful portrait of you and Kili made something that looks more like a stick figure with hair but he tried very hard and you love it.
Kili loves your hyperactive imagination, and if you were to help him come up with fun and creative ways to prank someone he would be the happiest dwarf alive.
Kili is an extravert, but he understands that you, because you’re an introvert, need some time alone to recharge. He loves to cuddle with you in those moments (actually kili always loves to cuddle you, he thinks you’re so amazing and he wants to hold you because of it).
When you feel particularly anxious and need to leave a crowded place, Kili is more than ready to act silly and attract all the attention to him, so you have a chance to slip away unseen. After that he will check up on you with something to drink and your favorite snacks.
He hates to see you sad, and always tries his best to cheer you up, but he understands that when you feel really depressed sometimes all he can do is hold you and be there for you, and he does exactly that. He hugs you, kisses you, tells you all the reasons he loves you and promises that you’ll be happy again.
He understands that life isn’t always great, and sometimes it can be really hard to reach out to the good things, so he brings the good things to you. He sneaks all kinds of good food from the kitchen, so everyday he can surprise you with a different meal. He picks colorful flowers so you have something pretty to look at when you don’t feel like going outside, and he reminds you everyday how beautiful you are and that you are enough the way you are.
Dwalin:
What can I say? Opposites attract.
Dwalin really doesn’t know what it was that pulled him toward you, but something did
He wouldn’t admit it, but he thought your shyness was cute, and though he wasn’t really a creative person himself, he wanted to know all about your talents and interests.
He isn’t very good with words, but he tries to compliment your work as much as possible, and ask questions when you tell him about one of your hobbies.
Dwalin is a dwarf of action, so to show you he loves you he takes you out on dates to the theaters, and buys you new paint when you mentioned you were running out of it.
Dwalin loves your paintings. He hangs them all around the house, and they remind him of you when you’re not home.
It’s very good you’re emotionally intelligent, because Dwalin tends to bottle things up. You help him be more open and express his emotions in other ways then anger and food.
Like I said before, Dwalin isn’t the best with words, but he does his best when trying to comfort you, and you can bet there’s no way he’s gonna let anyone treat you like shit for having mental illnesses! If someone even thinks about making you feel bad for not being able to do daily tasks he will not hesitate to punch them in the face and give them a piece of his mind.
Dwalin loves you, and your happiness is his number one priority.
Bofur:
Ohohoho this dwarf adores you!
Bofur is a joyful dwarf who finds joy in many things, most of all creative things. And you can do so many things! How amazing is that? Bofur wants to know everything about you, your mysterious aura only adding onto how much he wants to show you he likes you.
I headcanon Bofur as someone who’s good at carving things from wood (because his cousin is a toy maker, I’m sure he must have picked some things up from that) and he likes to make you little wooden figures.
When you tell him you do theatre he’s over the moon. Bofur loves to entertain others (I mean, just look at that one scene with the dwarves in Rivendell, where Bofur gets on the table and starts singing). He’ll definitely drag you up at least twice to do some kind of show for the company during the quest.
Bofur enjoys hearing you talk about your many talents, and he likes it even more when you infodump him about something! He thinks it’s so cute to see you rambling, looking all excited. But what he loves most of all is to just watch you do your thing. You could simply be sitting by the windowsill, writing away in your notebook as the sunlight falling through the window makes it seem like you have a halo around you, and Bofur would have the most lovesick look on his face.
It’s easy for Bofur to lift your spirits, even when he’s not trying. He’s always smiling, because most of the time he feels genuinely happy. He’s always cracking jokes and his laid back nature creates a calming atmosphere. When you need him to be there for you, he will be there. He’ll caress your cheeks, call you sweet nicknames and remind you of all the beautiful things in life.
Something Bofur likes to do when you’re feeling particularly down is to take your hand, hum a sweet song and just sway around the room with you. He’ll shower you in compliments and cheesy pick-up lines and won’t stop until you’re laughing again.
Bilbo:
You’re an introvert? Bilbo couldn’t be happier. We all know this hobbit is a gigantic introvert himself, and he’s more than happy to just spend all day with you inside or in the garden, enjoying each other’s company and a good meal.
You both share a love for writing, proofreading each other’s work and supporting each other when writing stories.
Bilbo is fascinated by your drawings and paintings. He himself tends to draw some sketches every now and then, but it’s nothing like the things you create. He’s always in awe when you show him your work, and he covers every wall in his hobbit-hole with your paintings and drawings.
You’re the one that got him to love theatre. He would always come and watch when you performed, bringing you a bouquet of flowers from his gardens to give you after your show, and after watching some of them he realized he actually really liked theater shows.
His favorite pastime is to sit in the garden with you watching the sunset, as he smokes his pipe and works on his book, and you sitting next to him drawing the many flowers surrounding you.
When your depression gets extra hard to deal with Bilbo will spoil you as much as possible. He’ll bring you breakfast on bed, fill the room with flowers, take over your chores and just lets you rest until you feel like you can face the day again, and he will never make you feel bad for sometimes not being able to. Bilbo loves you, all of you, and he wants you to be as comfortable and happy as possible.

[ficlet, bagginshield] all’s fair in love and war (bridgerton au)
If there had been days between the Great Smials Assembly and the Bywater Ball, Thorin doesn’t notice them. The sun rises and sets as always, while he goes on visits to the Tower Hills and the Elostirion, talking with the wardens who maintain the white towers looking out to Sea.
He’s seen so much of Eriador that he’s almost sick of it, but he just needs to tough it out for a couple more weeks before the hunt season starts in the Ered Luin. They’ll be getting there just in time for the Firebeard Midsummer Feast as well, which will be quite exciting to see.
On the night of the Bywater Ball, Thorin forgoes his usual coach and pony. The venue is within walking distance, after all, and the night is wonderfully warm. Other people seem to have had the same thoughts, because the roads are fairly clogged with ball-goers dressed in finery.
The dance is down by the Water, not far from the Party Field where the season-opening ball had been. Thorin can’t help but chuckle at that, remembering Bilbo colliding with him while trying to avoid Miss Bracegirdle. Why had he been so rude? He could kick his past self for it.
“Thinking about our first meeting?” wonders Bilbo’s voice at his elbow. Thorin turns, unable to stop his smile when he sees the crown of daisies in Bilbo’s hair.
“Where did you get that?” he asks.
“Oh, this?” Bilbo chuckles. “My cousin Prim.” He laughs. “It’s not clashing with my outfit, is it?”
Thorin’s heart skips a beat as he takes in the blue-and-silver ensemble for tonight. It’s so close to Durin blue that it hurts.
“We almost match,” he says instead. “One of us is going to have to change.”
“You should try wearing red once in a while,” replies Bilbo. “I think it would be quite fetching on you.”
Thorin huffs in amusement, as the next dance for the ball starts to play. “Dance with me, Bilbo,” he suggests. Bilbo nods happily, and Thorin takes his hand and leads him out into the crowd.
This dance goes in lively circles. Bilbo lets him take the lead, spinning in and out of Thorin’s arms without a second thought. Each time, Thorin counts down the seconds until Bilbo is in his arms again, his heart still weighed down by the choice he has to make tonight.
He has to tell Bilbo his feelings. He has to apologise for breaking their agreement. And he has to prepare himself for the possibility that maybe Bilbo is still pretending, and doesn’t truly love him back.
Thorin is so lost in thought he makes a wrong step, colliding with the other couples in their group as he does so. Bilbo apologises on his behalf, smoothing over ruffled feathers without a second glance. Thorin falls back in line quickly, gripping Bilbo’s hands behind their backs for the promenade.
Bilbo’s gaze doesn’t leave his own, not even when the lanterns in the trees surrounding the Water begin to flicker into life, drawing excited gasps from the other revellers. In the golden lantern-light, Bilbo’s face seems to glow ever-so-softly, his lips slightly parted as he continues to hold Thorin’s gaze.
It’s not the first time Thorin has imagined what Bilbo’s lips would feel like. He’s certain it won’t be the last, either.
“Something on your mind?” wonders Bilbo as he spins out of Thorin’s arms again, changing hands with their neighbouring dancers. Thorin chuckles, especially when Bilbo returns to his side.
“You have keen eyes, Master Hobbit,” he remarks.
Bilbo laughs. “Well, your smile is a little sadder tonight, that’s all,” he replies, and Thorin almost freezes on the spot at that.
“Sadder?” he echoes.
“You tell me.” Bilbo gives him a bracing smile. “If I were a betting Hobbit, I would say it’s because you miss your home.”
Thorin chuckles at that. No, if there’s something he’s going to miss, it’s probably Bilbo. Bilbo and his eggs and paintings and wit and smile — every aspect of him almost perfectly tailored to what Thorin thinks a home should be. Happy. Full of laughter.
(No magnificent stone pillars or fluted golden banquet halls. No fear of dragons or gold, and no grief over long-lost fathers.)
The tug-of-war between his heart and his duty is making his head spin. As soon as the song ends, Thorin makes his excuses and pulls away from Bilbo’s side, striding away from the lantern-lit venue of the Bywater Ball towards the Party Field and the stately oak tree at its centre. It doesn’t take long for him to seclude himself underneath its boughs, sitting down among the roots as he tries to catch his breath.
He’s suddenly brought back to the garden of wisteria at Long Cleeve Hall, just before Bilbo crossed paths with him that night. He’d been cornered by so many inquisitive Hobbit-lasses at the time that he’d given them all the slip at the first opportunity. This time, the only person he’s running from is the same person he wants with all of his heart to run towards.
“Thorin?”
Mahal’s beard, thinks Thorin in frustration. How did he know I would be here?
“I just wanted to make sure you were okay,” says Bilbo, suddenly appearing in front of him, kneeling down a little ways away. “You did seem a bit peaked, and... and I wanted to make sure it wasn’t through some fault of my own.”
“No,” says Thorin quickly. “It was not.”
Bilbo nods solemnly. “Okay then. I know we have one more dance, but if you needed to leave early, I can make your excuses to the rest of the lot.”
“That will not be necessary,” replies Thorin, already rising to his feet. “I do not require your pity.”
Bilbo’s eyes narrow as he rises to his feet as well. “Well, pardon me for my concern,” he replies a little peevishly, and Thorin realises a little too late that his desperation to put some sort of kingly affect to his words has evidently hurt the Hobbit. “None of this is part of the charade, if you must know. I was genuinely concerned about you, because for some Giver-forsaken reason, I’ve come to genuinely care about you.”
“I cannot afford to look weak,” says Thorin, even though this is the weakest his resolve has ever been. With his figure silhouetted by the lights of the party, Bilbo looks not of this world. Ethereal. A true-life Giver of Fruits.
“No one said anything about you looking weak!” exclaims Bilbo, now stepping closer to him, topaz eyes flashing dangerously. “I know most of your existence is putting on a brave face for Erebor, for the Shire, for everyone else in Middle-earth, but — have you thought — have you considered that maybe there are people out there who would think you even braver if you’d step back and let them worry about you for a bit?”
Thorin is briefly struck by the sheer absurdity of it all. This Hobbit is but a brief spark in the timeline of his own life, and yet that brief spark of his is all that’s needed to set the rest of himself aflame.
And with that flame now burning into a bonfire inside him, Thorin steps forward and captures Bilbo’s lips with his own.
~~
Bilbo cannot believe this is happening to him. Of all the possibilities out there for how this conversation between them would go, he had not seriously considered kissing to be on the table. And yet, here they are.
Alone. Together. Kissing.
When they break apart, the Dwarf-king’s eyes fly wide open, almost apologetic. Bilbo quickly disabuses him of that notion, stepping forward and pressing Thorin into the trunk of the Party Tree. Thorin’s hands come up to tangle in his hair, pulling him close, pulling their bodies flush against one another.
This is everything Bilbo has ever dreamed of, and more.
There’s a sudden pause, and then the world moves so fast Bilbo’s head spins at it. The trunk of the Party Tree slams into his back, the momentary shock bursting back into white-hot pleasure as Thorin captures his lips again, and then ventures away from his lips down the curve of his jaw, the line of his neck. Bilbo gasps, arching into Thorin’s touch, his hands tugging Thorin forward by the lapels of his coat. In the distance, the Bywater Ball plays on, and they are ensconced in the distant shadows of the Party Tree, mostly hidden —
Bilbo freezes. Are they mostly hidden? What if someone saw? His respectability would absolutely come crashing down. To be caught taking such liberties without a betrothal? Why, that was absolutely unheard of for a Hobbit of his pedigree!
Almost as if in response to Bilbo freezing, Thorin freezes too, reality crashing into him just as quickly. He steps back from Bilbo, wiping his lips with his hand.
“My deepest apologies, Mr Baggins,” he says, the formality of his words like a knife to Bilbo’s gut. “I did not mean to behave in such an unseemly fashion.”
“N-nor I,” stammers Bilbo, his heart still rabbiting frantically in his chest. He inhales, though the very act of it feels pained at the sight of absolute misery on Thorin’s face. “But I did enjoy it.”
Thorin’s expression somehow sinks even further at that. “As per our agreement, this courtship cannot go anywhere. Even though... even though...” His expression pinches, like he’s choking on the words he needs to say. “Even though I hold you in the highest regard, I still do not intend to marry.”
Bilbo wants to laugh at that, laugh at how un-Thorin these words are even though they’re coming out of Thorin’s stupid mouth. He wants to tell Thorin to take those words and shove them where the sun doesn’t shine. But instead, all he manages to say is:
“So you would sooner see the Golden Hare hunted for another season than marry me?”
“Bilbo.” How can his name on Thorin’s lips sound so much like a prayer, even when he’s in the process of hammering Bilbo’s heart to pieces? “You know that is not what I meant —”
Bilbo sidesteps him, stumbling back from the Party Tree. “I’m sorry, Your Majesty,” he replies, with an almost comical bow, “that I could not be of more use to you.”
And with the pieces of his heart still rattling in his chest, Bilbo turns away from the Dwarf-king and heads back towards the party.

She’s the man
fili x reader
Also please send in prompts, it would help dearly. You know like lines like "uhh what exactly do they do? kick names , kick ass."
Summary: Gandalf tells you to hide the fact you are women ;to allow you come with the company without Thorin rejecting you because you are woman. I have seen this idea a bunch of imagines so I decided I'll take a kick at it , making it my own. Word count:2464
You had been apart of the company a couple of weeks , nine months now, yet your identity is still hidden. You barely talked to anyone; if you did it was to Gandalf or Bilbo. You knew Bilbo was smart he knew something was up with you, every month there was a couple of days where your face screwed up frowning ,or you clutched you're stomach. Bilbo was no idiot, he took in the small details, not bathing at the same time, always wearing a hat ,scarf and oversized clothing.
He decided to confront Gandalf about it, in which Gandalf brought you over and you told Bilbo your secret , and concluding that he was sworn to secrecy. This caused you to grow close to Bilbo, he would take watch when you bathed so no one saw you , you would ride next to him on the pony, and you would make fun of of the dwarves behind there backs.
The Two princes caught on about your close bond with the hobbit and decided they need to confront you. The two princes stood behind you smirking as you bent down to grab your bedroll packing it up. Oh you just know they stared at your ass , even though you were a 'man'. You had chosen the name Jared , as your male name , you didn't know why , you knew how to read and you weren't a moose. Yeah.
"Mister Jared?" Kili has called out , making you stand up right facing them, towering them slightly , because simply you were a human. You had just finished packing your bedroll ready to be on the road again when they had gained your attention. You had nodded trying not use your horrible excuse of a mans voice.
They had taken in a big breath, before fili spoke "uh.. we were wondering if you and Bilbo were um-""are you fucking master boggins?" You had gasped at their question, and their use of words , "why would you think that?!" You had whispered shouted at the princes , as there flashes flashed red , well mostly fili , kili was smirking. "Well you always take him to keep watch when you bath so..." he had grinned at you, you scoffed.
"Bloody hell, maybe I just don't want prople seeing my body, it's called privacy." You spoke quietly not trying to draw the others attention.
"Why wouldn't you be comfortable?" Kili had continued not convinced really, he was really annoying you now. "Because I don't have the typical male body-""how so, you don't have breasts.” you had gasped "maybe I don't want dwarven princes seeing my cock out , then bloody wanking to my big ass cock." And with that you walked away with your bag hoping on your pony ready to continue your journey, leaving the princes stunned.
Now you were at Rivendell, you were finally able to bathe in peace and walk around in a elven dress and no one would recognise you. You and Bilbo had decided to share a room, he had been writing in a book on the bed as you went to bathe. However once you had gotten out wearing just a robe ; Bilbo was no where to be found. So you had dressed in a mint green dress that Elrond had given you , knowing your secret. You would have worn your own clothes, but Bilbo had taken them to wash them for you , what a nice hobbit he was.
You were very much grateful for the friendship that bloomed between you had Bilbo. You could not deny the attraction you felt towards the golden haired prince, you had no chance he liked women but you had to be a man. You wish he could get to know you , y/n a women , That had been admiring him the whole journey.
So now you were in search of a little hobbit , in a fancy dress which showed more of a bust than you were use to, you know being a 'man' and all you didn't show anything. You spent around an hour searching for him; before you found him at a fountain with your clothes all laid out to dry.
Unknowingly to you two dwarven princes were following you , in awe of your beauty , hiding in bushes and such. "Bilbo!" You had called out , making the hobbit turn and smile at you. "Look at you all dressed up!" He had called, you smiled widely at him before bending over picking him up placing him on your hip like a toddler, as he had just bunched up all the clothes placing them in a bag which you took and placed on your shoulder.
Whilst fili had whispered to his brother , "I know that bottom, kili." Kili had looked at him confused. "I don't know who's it is but I know it." The brothers stayed hid thinking where they could know you from, surely they would remember such a beautiful girl , they had thought.
You had headed back to your room to change , sending Bilbo to dinner to make sure no one went looking for you , he would just tell them 'no he is just getting dressed he had just bathed he will be here soon.' But it was too late Thorin had already sent fili to your room to fetch you. You were half dressed, in your trousers and undershirt which was a thin white vest which showed you definitely had breasts even if they were small or huge, no hat ,hair down.
Knock, Knock, Knock. You had assumed it was Bilbo telling you to hurry up, he always knocked just in case , but he seen you in a vest and pants before so it was fine. "Come on." You had raised your voice so Bilbo could hear. The door creeked open , and the shuffling of feet was heard soon after a gasp. "Um..excuse me but why are you wearing Jareds cloth- wait." You had turned around to see a red faced Fili , you gasped throwing on your shirt.
He thought about it and it all made sense. "You are Jared. " he spoke you nod, "yeah, um but that's not my name, it's Y/n." You spoke looking down at the floor in embarrassment. "Y-your a women..why lie?" He asked still shocked , he knew he liked you since he met you , but it wasn't common , well it was rare for a male to like another male so he pushed it off. "Your uncle wouldn't have let me come, plus if anything it was Gandalf's idea." You sat on the end of the bed , Fili shut the door , and walked to next to you taking a seat.
"Is that why you would only talk to Bilbo rarely anyone else? Because he knew?" He questioned you, you had simply nodded. "So are you going to keep this a secret still? I don't think Uncle will abandon you on the side of the road. The company like you, plus if he tries to kili and I will hide you in our packs. Mahal I will develop ale belly over night just to hide you like that.." You giggled at his words, small blush on your cheeks , he smiles at you.
"I guess ;I must now." And with that he grabbed you hand pulling you up , saying we already late for dinner and there won't be any left if we do not hurry. He lead you down the stairs and to the company who were sat at two tables, they all had looked at you and fili confused. "Who's the lass,Fil." Bofur had shouted with a smirk looking at your interwoven hands, which you tried to drop but Fili kept a hold. "You already know y/n." Gandalf looked mortified , looking towards Thorin , who's lips twitched up for a second.
He wasn't stupid just like Bilbo he had figured out that you were not a man, he didn't push it because you stayed out of his way and in fights you tried your best even though you had barely any experience. You didn't know why Gandalf had requested you on this trip, nor did anyone else apart from Gandalf who forced you on this trip.
The company had sat staring still until Bilbo stood up, throwing his arms up in the arm. "You bloody idiots , it's Jared ," he had shouting , as the dwarves whipped back to you eyeing you up and down. " you have a cock?" Kili had enquired only for Dwalin to slap him in the upside of the head. You pull fili by the hand sitting down on the next empty seat. "Y/n been pretending to be male this whole time, so that you would treat her the same, I did not want you treat her like a burden, when she is not." Gandalf spoke up making the dwarves turn their attention to the wizard , no reaction at first.
Well that was until Fili stood up from beside you with a cup of ale ,"I say we welcome her , as we did before." "Aye to that." And with that they drank.
That started your friendship with the oldest prince ;however it was not like the one you had with Bilbo. When you had all been kidnapped by Goblins he had shield you from the whips , and once you were running to escape he had grabbed your hand pulling you along with him.
Then when the orca had ambushed you he became your shield again , even though you told him not to and tried to push past him but he would not budge. After that the eagles came he had almost suffocated you , to hold you , trying stop you falling off the eagle. Which you would not have.
I am not joking when I say this , when Beorn started chasing you he had thrown you over your shoulder , Turning into sonic to get you to safety. This is exactly what Gandalf meant about being treated like a burden, you didn't know that wasn't why he was doing it.
Anyways you all had been captured by the elves of the Greenwood realm , and you were stripped down to your underclothes not the dwarves, thrown in cells but then Bilbo had broke you all out. Your vest see through from the water , as you out swam the orcs. Legolas the kings son stopped watching you all go. You had turned around in the barrel "get shagged by an octopus, princess!" You shouted towards him, you were pissed off by the fact they had stripped you to such a level. He had looked at you like a little puppy turning his head side to side, you turned away to smirking company.
"She's got a mouth on her lads." Bofur had shouted out smirking, not that you saw kili or some of the other dwarves raising their eyebrows suggestively. He sent them a look that said fuck off. As you reached land stepping out of the barrels soaking wet, hair sticking to you , clothes sagging down due to the water weight.
You had noticed your problem moving your hands ove the fabric of your vest ,which your nipples were visible, crossing your arms. No one had any coats as they were only stripped of them. Fili had walked over to you ready to strip himself of his tunic, you shook your head no. "I'll be fine once it dries, don't worry." You had spoken quietly to the dwarf . Before he could say anything a barge man had appeared firing his bow at the rock kili held in defence.
"Do it again and you're dead." Damn his voice sounded like pure golden domination, and stern. Fili had placed himself in front you, you had groaned at his action, which he ignored.
Soon enough you were all upon his barge, only then did you confront fili, who left his injured brother to follow you around like a lost puppy. He stood close next to you,you could almost feel the heat radiating of him ,oh how you wished for warmth. Goosebumps mapped down your bare arms like snow, even the barge man had looked at you in concern. You glanced at fili's frowning face, "Fili?" he had turned to look at you letting out an quiet 'hmm?' you had broken his thoughts of you,but you didnt know that."why do you seek to protect me ,when I dont need protecting. I thought you knew I didnt want to be treated like a burden." you had whispered not wanting the company hearing your petty moans.
Fili took his gaze off the icy lake ,looking at you like he didnt know what to say,he knew a bit over the top."its not like that, you aren't a burden...its just that..uhm"his flashes lightly with a blush. "fee,please..." your tone sincere and worried as you turned to him gripped his rough hands, you couldnt believe you had touched him you go got move your hands but again he keeps them in his hands. "the reason I'm like that is because you are my one y/n,its my duty to keep you safe, even if it costs my own life." he had looked away in embarrassment back to the cold water ,but you hand moved so you were directly infront of his lips ,pressing yours to his ,delivering a short kiss.
"if you die then I die with you,now keep me warm with those strong arms." and with that a chuckle left his mouth quiety as he cupped your cheeks pressing his lips to yours like you did he gasps in shock after. "god you are freezing, darn lucky im wearing two tunic?"
"you are wearing two? I would have took one earlier ,Ijust didnt want you to be cold. seriously everyone has seen my nipples through my vest." you groaned in annoyance but fili soon shedded one of his tunics putting on you ,you thank him before he wraps his muscular arms around your body,as you both look out to the lake. However the whole company had watched in awe.
You already know you have the princes and Thorin you also know fili gonna get hella jealous when you have to pretend to court bard in about 0.03 seconds.

The oneshot I lovingly call “Fuck you Thranduil”
Just a little oneshot that has been floating around my head for a few weeks. Its set after BOTFA where everyone lives / nobody dies (YAY) during the negotiations regarding reparations.
Warnings - if you couldnt tell from the title it contains a few swear words, mentions of assault/abuse of power, mention of bloody death
-------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------
"Well, if you do not agree to our terms then the Arkenstone will remain in our possession."
"Listen here you pointy eared bastard! " Thorin raised a hand to silence his cousin, then brought it to his furrowed brow. The meeting continued to go around in circles, as it had the past few days, no side willing to budge on their demands and no concessions being made.
"I think it time we all took a break." Bard, ever the peacemaker, huffed. He was already out of his chair and pouring himself another drink. Dain was all worked up and angling for a fight, which with guards and armies assembled would undoubtedly lead to another war leaving countless more dead.
"Amrâlimê, you have barely spoken work since talks began." Thorin turn to you stood next to his chair and kiss your hand.
"I'm sorry, I didn't want to overstep the mark"
"I think we are well past that given the bickering that is occurring. If you would like I can have Dwalin go to back to the mountain, at least then one of us can have a reprieve." he chuckled through a pain smile. His patience was wearing dangerously thin.
"No, it's okay." you smiled back. A flash of relief washed over Thorin's face. "Plus, I think I have an idea, but it is going to be umm well a bit insane, possibly a little dangerous, and it might make things a whole lot worse. Do you trust me?" you whispered into his ear.
" Do I trust your judgement? Undoubtably! Your ability to keep yourself safe? Well, that is why we have a small army of guards overseeing the negotiations. If you think it will work, go at least put an end to this, then you have my blessing" Thorin whispered back.
"Excellent!" your hand reached up and caressed his face. As he turned his lips met yours. " if you'll excuse me, I just need to fetch something" you kissed him quickly then left.
"As I have said before, operations you are requesting at out of the question!" Thorin growled cutting Thranduil off.
"Do you mind if I cut in?" you asked before Bard or Thranduil could begin again. Thorin smirked and ushered you forward. "My lords, I think it is important we address your request individually as our current approach is getting as nowhere. Lord Bard I hope you do not mind, but I will be addressing the elven king first.
"Very well" Bard seemed a bit taken aback for a moment that consented regardless.
"For my benefit could you please reiterate your demands Lord Thranduil?"
"The necklace made of jewels of Starlight, pay for my soldiers, and compensation for those lost defending the Mountain!" Thranduil snarled.
"and in exchange you will relinquish your claim on the Arkenstone?" Thranduil tilts his head in your direction, his smug way of agreeing. " brilliant!" you now turned your attention back to Thorin. " as part of my employment contract I am entitled to one fifthteenth of the treasure in Erebor, correct?
"Yes?" everyone was now looking in your direction, confusion plastered across their faces.
"Then I would like to claim this as part of my share" you gesture towards a very distinctive elvish box. " it was after all an item of treasure from within the mountain." Thorin leaned back in his chair, eager to see where you are going with this, while Thranduil’s expression flashes from shock to distain. Your attention now returns to the elven King. "It seems I am now the owner of this beautiful, jewelled necklace that you so desire and unfortunately for you I do not desire the Arkenstone nearly half as much as the dwarfs you were previously dealing with." Thranduil clenched his jaw, trying to keep his composure. He knew he had just lost the upper hand. You knew the calmer you acted the more frustrated Thranduil would become. Afterall, the last time you had engaged the elven king have almost slit your throat trying to get information about the quest from Thorin and yourself. Now you all that scar with pride but still you held a grudge and would do anything to see that entitled elf brought down a peg or two. " Now from where I am standing, I do not see why you are entitled to anything you're requesting. See it was you who assembled your army against us. You were only caught up in the war because you marched on the mountain for selfish reasons!
"THOSE JEWELS BELONG TO THE ELVES!" Thranduil rose to his full height, likely as a means to intimidate you. However, though he was nearly twice, your size your rage was far greater. You would stand atop the table if you must, to show that Thranduil did not have the upper hand.
"Those jewels belong to me! Regardless of who they belong to in the past after the dragon attacked, anything in that mountain belong to those brave enough to try and reclaim Erebor and since I am counted among those few these jewels on mine." a smirk crossed your face knowing that Thranduil was struggling to keep dignified. " now the deal on the table is these jewels for the Arkenstone."
"I cannot conduct such a trade. My men -----------” before he could even finish his sentence you cut Thranduil off.
"That is a pity. Oh well, I am sure this necklace will look lovely when I wear it to my wedding” you took the Jewels out of their box and drape them over your neck. " my love do you mind?" Wordlessly Thorin stood, brushed your hair to the side, fasten the necklace and placed a kiss with a gems of Starlight grazed your collarbone then sat back down. It seems he was enjoying how flustered Thranduil was becoming, and he did have to admit he did find it rather attractive when you took charge. “Thank you.” You once again switched your attention to another. “My Lord Dain, what do you think?”
“You look divine my lady.” This earned Dain a quick judging glance from Thorin, you were his one after all.
“Hmmmm I don't know, it doesn't sit quite right with my scar. “Your hand traced across the stones, feeling their position on your neck as you turned back to the elven king. “No, I think it would be better if we broke it apart for different jewellery. “
“YOU WILL NOT!” It seems that had caused Thranduil to finally snap. the tip of his sword was now firmly pressed against your throat. all had jumped into position. Dwarves, elves, and men all ready with swords drawn. worry exuded from Thorin however he trusted your calmness and held Dain back.
“Go ahead. Spill my blood all over your wife’s necklace. Did she die wearing it?” A single drop of blood landed on one of the sparkling stones. “Did her blood tarnish the jewels as mine now seems to?” You wiped the warm, sticky blood from the gems and tapped Thranduil’s sword to the side, which he lowered in shock. “Oh, did you not expect me to know the history and why you covet this piece of jewellery so much?“ No words were uttered, the entire tent was silent even Thranduil was speechless. “Now I repeat again, the Arkenstone for the necklace. Or I break it up piece by piece it's that simple.” You gave the elven king a sweet smile, but he said nothing “No? Okay. Thorin my dear, do you reckon it is possible to get one of these gems out with just a knife? or will I need a hammer? I want to do it personally you see.” You had already unclasped the necklace and held it firmly in your grasp.
“A knife should work on some of the smaller stones, aye” Concern had not left Thorin. At any point this could turn deadly. You are pressing buttons that even an orc dare not press. Still, he knew interrupting now would only lead to disaster.
“Great thank you.” You reached down to your boot and took a small knife from within, then placed the necklace on the table ready to take a stab at disassembling it.
“Wait!” Thranduil shouted drawing everyone's attention from you. “You have a deal!” He almost sounded defeated. Almost.
“I will give you this necklace and in exchange you and your army will leave this land. Agreed?”
“. . . . Agreed.“ Thranduil responded flatly.
“and the Arkenstone will be returned?”
“. . . . yes.” Bard and Thranduil exchanged a look but agreed nonetheless.
“Don't worry Bard, I still acknowledge your claim on the Arkenstone as well.” He gave you a slow nod of acknowledgement. “Then it's a deal!” Thranduil watched as you gently placed the necklace back into its box, then held out your hand to shake on the deal. Apparently, that was not how deals were usually ended in Middle Earth.
“Come, we should leave these accursed lands!” Thranduil took the box from the table and quickly turned on his heels, not even acknowledging the other Kings at the table.
“Oh! Thranduil” you called after the elven King. As he turned, you flung a single gold coin at him. “I'm feeling generous. Here, consider this a donation towards your troops.” He scowled and swiftly left, causing Dain to burst into bouts of uncontrolled laughter.
“Up yours! You gangly bugger!” Dane managed to pant out through laughter. Thorin looked at you full of love, pride, and bemusement. You moved across the room and sat on the table across from Bard. He looked vaguely terrified but concealed it well.
“Back in Laketown Thorin gave his word that the wealth of the mountain would be shared. Bilbo and I vouched for him.” Bard nodded, not entirely sure where you were going. Your calmness unnerving for all now. “If he does not keep his word it would reflect poorly on me. Now I cannot have that. You will receive enough gold to rebuild Dale and Laketown.” You quickly glanced at Thorin to ensure he wasn't already scowling. “Your people will be looked after through the winter and they will receive compensation for the dragon attack and the battle. Is this acceptable?”
“That is very generous my lady.” Thorin and Bard locked eyes. Thorin’s usual scowl had returned causing Bard to shift his attention back to you. You briefly returned Thorin’s scowl, letting him know this was happening whether he liked it or not.
“If the King doesn't keep up with payments please inform me. I will ensure everything is taken care of. I took the Liberty of bringing a chest so that you need not leave here empty handed.“ Bard gave you a quick bow and took the chest from one of the dwarven guards, leaving the Arkenstone behind on the table. Turning back to Thorin and Dain you could see they weren't nearly as happy as when Thranduil left.
“That was far more than I was willing to give, amrâlimê”
“When you failed to provide adequate compensation, you called my honour into question Thorin. Thorin looked slightly ashamed at your remark. “At least I earned you back the Arkenstone my love.” Since you weren't in a caring mood you took the opportunity to sit on your Kings lap.
“You were very impressive ghivâshelûh” Thorin tilted your chin up to inspect the wound on your neck. It was only minor. and required no further attention.
“Remind me not to get on the wrong side of the future Queen” Dain chuckled.
“You might have to remind me the same cousin.” Thorin smiled giving you a kiss.

OHHHHHH 🥺
Thank you dear ❣️
Be sure I will always cheerlead for you 😤
And cursed dragonball au has a special place in my heart already, let's chat about it anytime you want 😂
Of course friend! 😊 Also, I may have gotten a touch carried away with the Thorin's Fourteen AU...
Incomplete and Unedited Drabbles Below!!
Thorin’s fingers drummed against the table as he waited. He took another sip of his drink, relishing his first taste of alcohol since getting out of jail. A few seats down, a couple of off-duty cops laughed and looked around the room enjoying their own drinks. Thorin tried not to tense every time their eyes rested on him. It was ridiculous that drinking was a violation of his parole, but Thorin had to remind himself that here in Bree, he wasn’t in danger of being recognized by every officer. Just when he was about to get up having enough of the unnecessary anxiety attack, he finally sat down.
“Thorin Oakenshield. I thought you had ten years left on your sentence?”
Thorin could have killed the old man, but realized his voice wasn’t loud enough to carry behind him. The cops threw a few bills on the table and left, allowing Thorin to breathe easier. He glared at Gandalf.
“I got off for good behavior, no thanks to you.”
“I did everything I could as your lawyer. The evidence was stacked too far against you to get you anything lighter than a twenty million dollar fine and fifteen years.”
“Meanwhile, I had to watch that snake get away with framing me for embezzlement and take my grandfather’s company out from underneath me. Do you know what he’s turned Erebor into? A fucking casino, Gandalf!”
Real pain shined in the old man’s blue eyes making him look tired and his wrinkles longer.
“I know, lad. I know. If there was anything I could do, believe me when I say, I would.”
“That’s why I’ve called this meeting, Gandalf.” Thorin smirked, leaning in slightly. “I have a plan. A plan to steal the Arkenstone and topple Smaug, once and for all.”
“Oh?” The lawyer raised his eyebrow. “And is this plan something accomplished by legal means?”
Thorin gave him a hard glare, refusing to answer that. Besides, he knew Gandalf could already guess his answer. The older man nodded at Thorin’s silence and took a sip of his drink.
“What you are suggesting is very dangerous and has a very little chance of succeeding. Furthermore, you’re going to need quite a few extra hands to pull this off. Hands that may not exactly be clean.”
“So Balin, Dwalin, Oin, and Gloin are still loyal to me. I know where to find my old cellmate, Nori, and I think I can get him on board, possibly his brothers too. And, unfortunately, my nephews probably have too much time on their hands and I can’t imagine them listening to me if I try to keep them out of it anyways.”
“That makes ten.” Gandalf nodded. “I have a client by the name of Bifur who has two cousins who would probably aid you well.”
“There’s thirteen.” Thorin shrugged, thinking that was more than enough.
“I think we need one more.” Gandalf argued. “And I know just where to find him.”
***
Bilbo was trying to keep his eyes to his book as he rode the train back to the Shire. He went to Bree for a nice shopping excursion, but he was ready to be back in his armchair in his quiet, comfortable parlor. He hated crowds. Years of conditioning had him constantly aware of his surroundings. Who would make good marks? Who would be less likely to notice a missing wallet or jewelry? Who are the people watchers who would notice something amiss? He shook his head and tried to concentrate on his book again. However, the man directly across from him with the wallet careless stuffed in his jacket pocket almost seemed to be begging for it. The train announced the Hobbiton station, and Bilbo hopped up to move towards the door, ready to get off as soon as possible.
“Excuse me.” An older man apologized after bumping into Bilbo.
He gave a tight smile while subtly checking that his wallet was still there. When everything appeared to be in order, he gave a quick ‘it’s fine’, and jumped off the train. He was a couple of blocks away when he looked down to see a slip of paper had been inserted in between the pages of his book. He pulled it out to see it wasn’t a simple piece of paper, but a business card.
Gandalf Grey, Attorney at Law
Written on the back was a single sentence that had his blood running cold.
I would have expected Belladonna Took’s son to have made that lift.
A location was given after that. The Green Dragon. Who the hell was this Gandalf Grey?
***
“So lad? How did it go?” Balin asked cheerfully after Bilbo made it back to the warehouse.
“I’ll tell you. You lot can certainly pick them.” He complained, earning Thorin’s attention.
“Were you seen?” The taller man demanded.
Bilbo scoffed. “What do you take me for? Of course, I wasn’t! I’m just saying this man is as meticulous as he is ruthless! Do you know he has his own elite, questionably legal, security detail he lovingly calls the orcs? The last person who tried to steal from Smaug was gutted and then had his brother-in-law’s bakery seized!”
“Oh yes, I heard that as well.” Balin nodded.
Thorin frowned. “I thought it was the uncle’s gas station?”
“Maybe his son’s car wash?” Balin offered after a moment of thought.
“Does it matter?!” Bilbo attempted to pull their attention back to the main issue.
“Are you scared?” Thorin mocked with a raised eyebrow.
“Are you suicidal?” Bilbo shot back.
Thorin smirked almost grudgingly before shrugging. “Only in the mornings. Now, what did you find out about Smaug?”
***
Everyone started filing out of the back of the van, quickly and quietly. Bilbo moved to follow only for Thorin to put his hand on his shoulder, pushing him back inside.
“You stay here.” He growled.
“Are you serious?” Bilbo demanded.
Thorin glared back. “Yes. I need to be able to predict everyone’s movements in order to pull this off, and frankly you’re too much of a wild card. Stay, and maybe I’ll trust you with more.”
Bilbo glared at the man long after he disappeared inside the university.
“Cheer up, Mister Boggins.” Kili tried to appease from the front seat. “Uncle made us stay behind too.”
Great, he was nothing more than a child in Thorin’s eyes.
“You want to play twenty questions?” Fili offered.
Bilbo groaned as he held his head between his knees.
“Alright. I’ll go first!” Kili volunteered.
“Are you a man?” Fili asked.
“Yes. Nineteen.”
“Are you dead?”
“Yes. Eighteen.”
“Durin the Deathless.”
“...Damn it!”
Bilbo let his head hit the side of the van. This would be the longest twenty minutes of his life.
“Hey, Mister Boggins? What’s that?”
Bilbo looked over only to see a flashlight sweeping the grounds, followed quickly by another.
“Shit! Those are guards.”
“What do we do?” Fili asked nervously.
“You two stay here and try to remain inconspicuous. I’ll draw them off.”
Bilbo was out of the van and across the lawn before either brother could protest. Not even thirty seconds later, the rest of the crew appeared with the device in hand. As they loaded it into the back, Thorin’s eyes scanned the van realizing instantly something was amiss. Where was Bilbo?
“Fili! Kili! Where’s Baggins?” He demanded.
“He went to lead some guards on a wild goose chase.” Kili offered nonchalantly.
Thorin groaned as he punched the door.
“What do you want to do, Thorin?” Dwalin asked with a knowing look.
“Drive down to the end of the road and give us twenty minutes. If we’re not there by then, just go. I’ll get the damn idiot.”
***
Bilbo took a few seconds in the elevator to catch his breath. Smaug was more terrifying than he ever imagined.
“Alright Bilbo.” Ori spoke through the earpiece. “You are disappearing from their feed in three, two...you are now the invisible man.”
Bilbo nodded as he shed the glasses and jacket. Time to get to work. The elevator came to a stop, and Bilbo jumped up to open up the ceiling tile under the light. Only he shorted it by two inches.
“Come on.” Bilbo groaned to himself trying again.
This would be terribly embarrassing if he couldn’t get out of the fucking elevator because he was too short. He reached down to get the grappling hook out of his briefcase. It was supposed to be used later, but desperate times. When he looked back up, he gave a quick yelp of fright to see Thorin’s smiling face.
“What the hell?” He demanded.
“It’s my stone, my building, and my plan. You didn’t really think I was going to sit this out, did you?”
“Didn’t trust me?” Bilbo snipped as he took Thorin’s outstretched hand.
The taller man gave a slight grunt at the strain, but Bilbo was too mesmerized by the flexed bicep inches from his face. Once he was close enough to the top, Bilbo reached out and helped Thorin out by pulling himself out of the elevator. When he finally got his footing, he looked up to find Thorin uncomfortably close. Bilbo’s throat became dry as he tried not to focus on the sweat gathered in the hollow of his throat.
“You should know by now, Mister Baggins, that you have my full and complete trust.” Thorin growled.
Bilbo swallowed and tried to focus on Thorin’s eyes, and his eyes only. Not how beautifully fit Thorin was in that tight black shirt, and certainly not on those lips the man’s tongue had just wet.
“Bofur’s just about ready to go. Are you and Thorin in position?” Ori’s voice brought him back to the present.
Bilbo cleared his throat several times with the promise of later. This could all be explored later when they weren’t in the middle of a job.
“Close enough.” He mumbled back.

Tagged by @curiousartemis , thanks!! Love this :)
Here is the intro to a long-abandoned WIP about HeavyMetal!Thorin & NotsoMetal!Bilbo, a concert AU that I started in 2017. I hope to return to it soon!
The first time Bilbo saw him, it was a dreary Monday morning. Bilbo had just moved to the city not two days before and was taking the bus to work for the first time. He was nervous about all of it and hoped that there wouldn't be anyone at the bus stop, but instead found a figure already on the bench. Bilbo debated not sitting down and instead just standing outside, but a light mist had started during his walk and he had forgotten his umbrella.
He slid onto the bench next to the stranger as quietly as possible. He peered at the man next to him as best he could without drawing attention. Dressed in all black, his long dark hair was neat and hung down his back, twin braids hung on either side of his head. The man had a cropped beard and was nodding his head along to music coming out of his earbuds, not quite a scowl on his face, but he definitely didn't look happy.
Bilbo looked at his watch, it was quarter past, which meant that the bus for downtown should be pulling up any moment, if he had read the map online correctly. He was hoping to be early his first day, but not too early as to seem overeager. He looked down the street, tapping his fingers on his knee as he once again looked down at his watch. A minute or two late wasn't a big deal. He took out his phone and went back to the transit website for the 100th time, just to reread the schedule.
He glanced up, right bus stop, right time. Where was it? It was now nearly 25 after. Had he missed it? Bilbo worried and felt his stomach tighten. He glanced over at the man next to him, who hadn't moved or even glanced at Bilbo it seemed. What if he was waiting for a different bus? Bilbo toyed with the idea of disturbing him. He hated the idea of it. He had known what it was like to want peace and quiet and for someone to bother you in the middle of it. He stared down at the face of his watch as the minute hand crept towards the half hour mark. He sighed and rubbed a hand over his face, what a day and it was only 7:30 am.
Bilbo breathed in deep and puffed up his chest, he would ask he decided matter of fact. He looked over at the man fully, but received no acknowledgement. Bilbo cleared his throat.
"Excuse me?" he started quietly. Nothing. "Um, excuse me?" Bilbo started a little louder this time. The man blinked but didn't look at him.
Bilbo let out an exasperated sigh and leaned over and tapped the man on the shoulder lightly, "excuse me?"
The man didn't move except to pull out the closest earbud and look over at him, "sorry, what?" he asked, tone flat, his lips a thin line.
Bilbo stumbled, having expected to just be ignored. "Oh, sorry, sorry. Do you, um. The bus? Do you happen to know if the downtown one stops here?"
The man nodded, "it does." He stared blankly at Bilbo, his eyebrows moving up slightly as if to question why he had been bothered with such an inane question.
"Oh. Well um, isn't it supposed to come at quarter past?"
"It's always 20 minutes late," he stated, putting back in his earbud and turning back towards the street.
Oh. Bilbo looked back at his watch. It should be there in less than 3 minutes then, hopefully. He tapped his fingers on his knee, his briefcase sitting on the ground next to him. Exactly 20 minutes late, the bus rolled to a stop in front of them, letting out a groan as it settled. Bilbo stood and approached the door and climbed on board, depositing the required change. He would have to get a bus pass soon. He sat in the first open seat, right behind the driver. He watched as the man, who was quite a bit taller and broader than he had initially guessed, flashed his bus pass and went to the back to sit near the window. Bilbo spent the rest of the ride wondering where the tall, dark, and admittedly handsome stranger worked, his name, but mainly what was he listening to?

Thorin Drabble - Sleepless
A/N: Missing my baby from this damn quarentine. I miss sleeping next to him and so I'm going to write this one to get some feelings out in a healthy and creative way!
Summary: After Erebor is reclaimed and everyone's made a (close to) full recovery, you are suddenly cast into a big wave of insomnia and can't quite figure out why. Thorin knows there is something wrong.
Warnings: Lots of fluff.
"Y/N!" The barking of your name has you jerking upright with a start. Your cheeks burn and you suddenly feel like a little kid getting scolded by your teacher in front of the class. It wasn't far off.
Only now it was Thorin scolding you in front of the council that had been strung together. Thorin always had Balin and Dwalin by his sides for these meetings, just as Dain always had his own dwarrow. Other than that, Thorin insisted you and his nephews join them in these lengthy (and less than entertaining) meetings.
"Is your king boring you?" Dain demands harshly. He always was looking for any way to rub his heel on your face.
"No," you manage softly, "I'm sorry, my king. Please continue."
"Dain, it is not your place to dicipline." Thorin's voice is tight and you can't stop the swell of pride in you. It draws you away from the back of the chair and upword. You would give your beloved king a reason to be proud by serving him well.
The meeting continued to dwell on. Glances always being casted your way. Thorin's face unreadable and you swear Dain's scribe was purposefully reading slow and monotonous. In the last stretch of this meeting, another meeting regarding the trade routes to the Iron Hills, Thorin leaned into his hand, letting his fingers cover his mouth as he watched you. The last words were barely out of the scribes mouth when Thorin practically roared to end the meeting, obviously fed up, he excused everyone.
You sigh in relief, climbing to your aching feet. Still, you felt embarressed to have fallen asleep at a meeting. This was the first time all day you could sink from your heels and rest. That must have been why you dozed off.
Sleep had been evading you enough lately. Maybe you could skip dinner entirely tonight, just crawl right into bed. The thought repulsed you a bit and you don't know why.
Finally, after months and months of fighting and surviving the adventure of a life time, you could reside in the reclaimed city of Erebor. The one you helped claim! (Sure as hell not King Dain of the Iron Hills). A bed was like a dream here. After the dragon and the battle and the terrifying process of almost losing the last of the line of Durin, since the end of the orcs and goblins and spiders, you could finally rest easy. Or so you thought. Sleep evaded you like Bilbo evaded Smaug. Caught, but craftier than expected.
"Y/N, don't leave just yet. I wish to have a word with you." You almost panicked when you saw Dain sitting beside Thorincs spot. Looking hella smug. Your king had stood and moved toward the fresh tea in the corner. "Alone, if you would, cousin"
"I have matters to discuss with you further, Thorin. I'd prefer not to have to track you down again later." Dain's eyes hadn't left yours as he spoke, a smirk slipping on his face.
"We will reschedule. Y/N, come take the seat beside mine." His voice is even. He is making tea, something you've never seen him do before. You don't hesitate, but his cousin does. He glares at you over the table.
"These are affairs of state-"
"And they can wait until after dinner. Go about your business." The snapping of Thorin's voice startles you both. Dain reluctantly stands and steps out of the room, narrowing a glare on you as he grumbles a curse in Khudzul. You ignore the word you don't know. When the door clangs shut your left with a sense of dread.
The silence incredibly loud. Thorin continues with the tea for a moment before carrying the tray back over to the table. "You like honey in your tea, yes?" You blink in surprise as he sets the cup in front of you.
"Ah, yes, thank you, Thorin." He smiled at the name. Insisting you call him that whenever it was just you and the company. The formal titles were just for appearances. He was kind and warm to those who had served him well on the journey.
"You look exhausted. Are your chambers not to your comfort?" He asks. Oh. He was not angry. He wad concerned. His face showed it.
"They're wonderful, Oín just thinks I'm not used to living underground. He says I'll grow used to the cycles." Thorin tskes his seat again, not drinking any tea himself. It warmed your heart that he made it for you.
The king hums, doubtfully by the look of it. "You do not agree?"
Shaking your head you sip the tea and smile. It was a white tea, one of your favorites. "No, I'm not prone to insomnia. Even when we were being chased by orcs I managed more sleep than this." Setting the cup down you rub the corner of your eye weakly.
"When did this begin?"
"Almost a full week now. I go to bed exhausted and wake out a dead sleep just as much as before. Then I can't sleep anymore."
"It wasn't affecting you while you took care of me?" After his fight with Azog and the chest and foot wound he gained. He still limped, but last week you cleared him. You slept in spurts on the sofa in his chambers for months to watch over him. A particularly gifted healer you were. But you still got more sleep, especially toward the end of it when his ever weeze didn't give you a heart attack.
Shaking your head you reach for the tea again, finding comfort in it.
"I find my own chambers rather quiet these days. I miss waking and finding you below the window." He gives you a warm smile and it has you grinning back at him. "The mountain has a stillness to it. A quiet that builds unease. It does not surprise me you cannot sleep."
His words make sense to you. You miss the quiet, even breathing he gave. The first month after the battle, the tiny amount you slept, it was spent with a hand on his shoulder, feeling the heaves he dragged in. You refused to leave his side and he never wanted you to. It made you grow closer.
"I'm sorry, Thorin." You sigh to him. You try to push away the tears in your eyes, feeling a bit frustrated.
"Could it be you are uncomfortable sleeping alone? Didn't you speak of having to share a bedroom most of your life?" You nod.
"That actually makes plenty of sense. I guess, I do miss Bilbo always managing to find a way to rest his head on me at night." The memory has the both of you chuckling fondly. The hobbit always found you approachable and often cuddled into you for warmth (you were by far the coolest in terms of temperature). Thorin watched you sip your tea quietly for a long moment. The both of you basking in the presence of each other.
"I would have excused you from this meeting today if you had told me how you were feeling." He murmurs softly. "Dain is particularly ruthless."
"I don't know why you want me in these meetings. I'm a healer, Thorin." You offer.
"I value your input. You always bring another light to the table and it should do you well to learn." He gives you a gentle smile and you can't help but reach a hand out to cover his.
Flipping his hand, your fingers end up in his wide, calloused palm. He gently closes his hand around yours. There is so much warmth in it, you let your eyes close and his touch sooth your frazzled nerves.
"I should probably be going on. Balin said he could use some help in the library. Thank you for the tea."
"Balin can manage on his own. Go to bed. Try to rest while you can. I'll send word to the old dwarf." He rose from his chair, leaning forward, your heart fluttered as he kissed you forehead gently. It made your cheeks pink and you melt into a puddle.
...
Your warm sheets are miserable to leave when knocking sounds. Carefully, you drag out of the bed and shlep to the door, dreading the knocking. You'd barely fallen asleep. You opened it to reveal one of Thorin's royal guards.
"Hello."
"Goodevening, Lady Y/N. The king is requesting your immediate aid in his chambers. It is urgent." Your eyes fly wide. What did her do now?
Without hesitate, you snatch your bag of supplies from the door and throw on a robe, sliding into slippers. You barely remember to lock the door behind yourself. When Thorin calls clearly from beyond the door, you rush in. He's at his desk, looking over papers and his room is delightfully warm in comparision too yours. Tending the fire always seemed to slip your mind.
"What did you do this time? I didn't clear you for any sparring yet, Thorin." You announce as you step up next to him. Thorin casts an amused look as the door to his chambers close.
"I'm sorry, you misunderstand. I just wanted to propose a solution to your problem." You find yourself arching a less-than-funny eyebrow. "Spend the night here. You can rest in my bed." Your eyes widen.
"I couldn't, Thorin. You said you've been struggling to sleep, too." He draws himself up from where he was leaning over the desk and smiles down at you.
"You can. I find your presence a comfort. Now go and rest."
"Not in your bed. I'll take the couch. I don't want to intrude."
"The bed is plenty large for the both of us." He offers and you see the rare mischevious glint in his eye. The one his nephews inheirited.
"Would that be proper, my king?"
"It is just us. No one should be intruding on the king."
You sigh and glance toward the enormous bed. A nervous thrill filled you. He grins at the little nod you give and pecks your forehead, making you into mush again.
"Thanks, Thorin." And with that he leads you over to the bed and draws back on the sheets for you. You laugh and climb into them as he tucks them up around you. The night wears on a bit as you doze.
When Thorin himself retires a short while later, you reach a hand out automatically. It rests on his shoulder again. And you were out like a light. So heavily that you didn't even hear the entry of Dain (and it was quite something).
Thorin glowered at his cousin's intrusion and sat up in his bed, nearly on the edge of sleep himself before this. "So this is why she's aways in the meetings? I can't believe you, cousin."
"That is enough, Dain. You speak to your future queen." He rumbled quietly.
"I don't see any braids. Why is she in your bed?"
"To sleep if you cannot tell. Just as I was prepared to." Dain shakes his head. In your sleep you give an adorable little whimper, face crumbling as your hand reaches. It quiets the room and they watch for a moment. Thorin slips a hand over the sheets, offering you his arm to calm you. It does the trick.
The king of the Iron Hills frowns and sighs. "Alright, I see. But this does not mean I trust her."
"You don't trust the woman who worked tirelessly an saved your kings life?" Thorin demands, carefully scooting closer to you in the bed, uncaring that his cousin caught him.
"She's not dwarrow!" Thorin pulls on your wrist, dragging your arm across him. It made him grin proudly when you curled happily into his side, effectively waking just a bit.
Not realizing Dain was standing at the foot of the bed, you buried your face in his chest and yawned. "Mmm, you're like a furnace." Thorin took the oppertunity to wrap his arms around you. His future queen. His one. Snuggled happily aggainst him.
"It matters not, cousin." Dain sighed, shaking his head.
"Fine. Just don't keep her up anymore. I won't hold back the next time she falls asleep in a meeting. First thing tomorrow, we need to speak."
"Aye. Goodnight." And Dain left, leave Thorin to pull you even close and give a lingering kiss to your head, not missing me goofy smile that spread on your still sleeping face.

A king’s crown – Thorin x reader
Summary: The reader is just fucking adorable and makes Thorin a flowercrown every night, but our oaf doesn’t… get it.
Warnings: Fluff. Fluff. Fluff.
Taglist: @jeemalou @dabisburntnut @soradragon @pistachiozombie @legolaslovely @tomisbaeholland @swoopswishsward @fizzyxcustard @deepestfirefun @ruthoakenshield @mariannetora @thequeenoferebor If you don’t wish to be tagged anymore, please let me know! Or if you’re not on the list and want to be tagged: check out my lists and I’d like to hear which list you want in on!
Now this happened. Again!
Thorin had just opened his eyes after a long needed sleep, only to be greeted by a bright bunch of colors appearing right in front of him. He wouldn’t say that he knew everything there was to know about life, but he was sure that this object hadn’t been there when he finally had closed his eyes to rest. This was the third time in a row and he was starting to feel ridiculous.
Thorin sat upright and carefully held the flower crown that had been placed on his bedroll. He had to admit that the blossoms did smell nice and it was a pretty thing, but somehow he couldn’t shake off this feeling that someone was mocking him. And the only sensible conclusion in the valley of the Imladris, was that the pointy ears were behind it.
The king in exile huffed. If they thought that Thorin, son of Thraín, son of Thrór would play their games, they were mistaking! He’d never wear something they regarded as pretty. If one wasn’t careful enough, one might end up looking exactly like those self-righteous immortal bastards.
He quickly glanced around (no one seemed to be there, excellent!) and cast the crown into the thick bushes a few meters away from his bedroll, a place where hopefully their hosts didn’t even care to look. Then he got up and strolled in the direction of the group (or that is, the direction he guessed he had to go). Luckily Bofur’s laughter and Kíli’s excited chatters were quite distinctive, so it proved to be not a task too difficult this time.
Thorin rubbed his hands together. He really hoped that Bombur would offer something else for breakfast than the green food he had to endure yesterday during dinner, and the night before that. He wasn’t sure he could stomach more leaves.
The cooking smells were surely promising. The king followed his nose and it led him to a small clearing, where the others were enjoying a splendid breakfast. Thorin smiled faintly as his comrades greeted their leader with joyful cheers and friendly banter. Bombur grinned while handing his king a bowl filled with a variety of delicious meats.
‘Here you go, my king. I’d say this meal is a lot tastier than the elves have arranged us in days!’
‘I know it will be.’ Thorin agreed. ‘Thank you, Bombur.’
He moved throughout the group, holding his bowl carefully against him like it was some precious gem. Fíli saw him coming and shoved his brother aside to clear a spot on the bench for their favorite uncle. Kíli, who was just about to reveal the punch line of some grand joke, did not expect his brother’s move and it caused the youngest brother to fall flat on his face. The comical effect was huge and everyone was roaring with laughter, though this was hardly what the youngest Durin had aimed for in the first place.
‘Oi!’ Kíli snapped, while scrambling himself together. ‘Did you have to do that?!’
Fíli chuckled. ‘You had to make room for uncle, brother.’
The youngest Durin muttered something under his breath and disappeared in the forest.
‘Don’t be so hard on him.’ Thorin told his eldest nephew, though with a grin. ‘He still hasn’t recovered from the fact he did fancy an elven lad.’
Fíli smirked. ‘Nor have we.’
The king shook his head and turned his attention towards his meal again. His stomach churned and the smell of meat was mouthwatering. Before anyone could disturb him, Thorin quickly took a bite.
‘Good morning to you all!’ You announced yourself to the group with your usual excited chirp.
If Thorin had been paying attention, he would have noticed that your bright smile was especially directed to him, but as the king was too engrossed in his breakfast he didn’t even notice you were there anyway. He did nod vaguely in your direction, indicating that he didn’t give a rats’ arse who was there, not even if lord Elrond himself was standing before him.
Others did see your smile though- first beaming, then slowly dying away as the dwarf you cared for ignored your presence. A few in the group exchanged looks and wondered in silence how long this could go on. Thorin usually was quite perceptive, but figuring out that a lady was madly in love with him proved to be a challenge. They glanced over at their leader who was enjoying his mealtime, blissfully unaware of the things around him.
He would figure it out some day, wouldn’t he?
After breakfast, members of the company disappeared slowly, going about their business in the valley and enjoying the last of their spare time before they would leave for the road tomorrow. Before the king knew it, it was just you and him who were left.
Thorin suppressed a sigh as he watched you rummage through your bag. You, the latest addition to his company, were the cutest thing he’d ever laid his eyes on. You had all the curves in the right places, knew your way around swords and your sweet, though sassy temperament made everyone smile. Even Dwalin was delighted to have you as part of the group, and that said something.
It had begun so slowly that Thorin didn’t even notice it was there. With every day that passed, he admired you more, to the point where he had become quite attached to you as well. Though your lovely smile and your distracting backside should get some credit, it was all of you that melted his bones. You were simply the whole package, the partner he had longed for most of his life. Sometimes he even wondered what would happen if he’d ask you to be his.
But for now, you were unaware of his affections and thus the king watched you curiously as you opened your sketch book and started to work. Thorin got out his pipe and searched for tobacco in his pocket.
‘It’s in your left pocket.’ You said quietly without looking up and Thorin reached his hand in there. Huh. He furrowed his brows together when you proved to be right. How did you know that?
‘Thank you.’ He replied. ‘How did you-’
‘It’s where you last left it.’
‘You have an excellent memory.’ The king said. ‘I don’t remember putting it there.’
You merely shrugged.
‘How did you know?’ he pressed, but he was met with silence. You were hunched over your work as if you were trying to shut him out. Thorin busied himself with cleaning and filling his pipe, all while keeping an eye on you. You on the other hand made no inclination that you were aware of presence.
The king cleared his throat. This was nothing compared to the usual, joyous interactions the two of you shared and this silence didn’t sit well with him. Had he done something wrong?
‘Is something bothering you?’ he inquired while he lit his pipe.
‘Nothing special.’ Your reply was soft, but he heard you. ‘Can’t wait to be on the road again.’
‘Me too.’ He agreed. ‘I’ve had enough of elves for a few years.’
You shrugged again and continued working on your sketch. Your hands were smudged from the charcoal you liked to use. Absentmindedly, you brushed a lock of hair from your face. It left a black smear on your forehead.
Thorin stood up and with his pipe in one hand, he reached the other forward to gently brush the stain away. You did look up this time and your E/C locked with his sapphire ones. He always had known that you possessed the most beautiful eyes in the entire universe and it was easy to get lost in them, but nothing could have prepared him for the pain displayed in there. It shot straight to his heart, leaving a dull ache which surely was nothing compared to your agony. He could see you were holding back tears as best as you could.
It was not enough, but all too much. Thorin couldn’t bear to lose his composure in front of you, nor did he want to embarrass you. He broke away and shifted his attention on your sketch book instead. You were drawing flowers that were almost as breathtaking as you.
‘Love.’
The phrase gushed from his mouth before he could control himself and he clenched his hands into fists. The last thing you needed was a love confession right now. ‘I mean- Would you mind telling me what’s going on?’
You shook your head.
‘You don’t have to.’ He carefully took a seat next to you and gestured at your drawing. ‘This looks amazing.’ He breathed slowly, but his voice was still too shook for his liking. ‘It looks like a real bouquet.’
‘Thank you.’ You murmured. ‘But it’s more a-’ You hesitated and stared at your sketch instead.
‘More like a what?’ The king encouraged.
‘A crown.’ You whispered.
Silence.
‘Will you excuse me, my king?’ you said abruptly, jumping from your seat and causing the book to fall from your lap. Before Thorin could stop you, you had disappeared in the forest. The king blinked a few times before picking up the book. When he eyed the drawing a second time, it daunted on him.
Oh mahal.
He had been an idiot. A total idiot. How could he be so stupid, so oblivious to the fact that you were the one who had left him these flower crowns each morning? If he hadn’t been so obsessed with the elves’ presence, he could have seen that- Thorin groaned. No matter now. The damage had been done and there was no taking it back. A better question was: how was he going to make this up to you?
‘Good morning.’ He grunted and glanced around the group. He saved his special glare for his nephews, to warn them for the hell they would have to pay if they dared to make fun of their uncle. So far, it worked. Fíli shifted uncomfortably in his seat and looked away. Though Kíli’s face was distorted in an awful grin, the lad was smart enough to keep his mouth shut.
‘New attire?’ Dwalin smirked and Thorin roughly pushed him aside so he could be seated.
‘Make way for your king.’ He rebuked.
His eldest friend laughed. ‘Ye’re suddenly the king of foliage now, huh?’
‘What can I say…’ Thorin grinned. ‘A mountain isn’t enough.’
Dwalin shook his head. ‘Those pointy idiots are rubbing off on ye, I tell ye.’
‘Hello everyone!’
They both looked up and Thorin’s heart missed a beat. You were standing before the group. Your hair was still a bit frizzy from bathing, the untamed locks roaming freely over your shoulders. You were wearing his favorite breeches, the ones that supported your excellent ass. You clasped your hand over your mouth when you noticed the king’s new crown.
‘You made this?’ you said breathlessly as you made your way towards him.
‘I did my best.’ Thorin acknowledged ruefully. ‘But I can’t get it quite right like you do.’
A giggle escaped you and you reached out to inspect his work. ‘There’s leaves in it, Thorin. And… branches.’
The king heaved a sigh. ‘Guess I need your help, my lady.’
You bit your lip and held out your hand. ‘Fine, let me help you fix this mess…’
The cheers of the company followed you and the king into the forest. There, you showed him how a proper flower crown is made. Amongst other things…
Thank you so much for reading my humble story. Feedback is always welcome. Did you like my work? Spread the love and reblog! :) And here’s my Masterlist.

Return Her pt. 1
The Company (and friends) x Reader
Not being from Middle Earth has brought you some amazing moments, but this should’ve been expected.
You knew going into Mirkwood after Gandalf’s warnings was a horrible idea, but for some reason you didn’t think to stay behind.
First everyone went nuts, yourself included (you could barely remember your own name at some points, it was ridiculous). Then there were the spiders, thankfully you got to avoid being webbed up by those disgusting arachnids but you got lost on your way to help.
By some luck you found everyone while they were attempting to leave their confines of the webbing, but then the spiders came back so your luck didn’t feel so good anymore.
You guys kill a bunch, Kili gets separated… oh, and there is also the elves who are speaking in their own tongue.
The blond elf who appeared to be the leader of this merry group of losers was talking about one of the swords you all acquired after everyone was searched (the only thing they found on you was a small weapon and your backpack from home, also a smack to the hand that was frisking you) when he noticed you.
The male elf mouthing off to Thorin stops his little liar thief speech abruptly though when his eyes fall on you and your strange clothes and weird colorful backpack held by the elf who searched you.
“You. Come here.“
Uh oh.
Simply staring at him dumbly for a few moments, you turn your head from side to side and then point at yourself. “M-Me?”
He nods his head once, annoyance and a trace of amusement showing on his face. You twiddle your thumbs together and shrug your shoulders, taking a step forward only for a large hand to pull you back, “What do you want with her, pointy eared freak!” Hisses Dwalin next to you
The elf says nothing and continues to stare you down.
Everyone is looking between the two of you at this point, and you begin to feel that all to familiar mixture of anxiousness and awkwardness creeping up on you. “Um… I’d rather not…”
He still stares, as if he’s looking into your very soul. “I will not repeat myself.” Now he just looks annoyed.
You huff indignantly and shake Dwalin’s hand off your shoulder, “Fine! Whatever.”
You shuffle over awkwardly, ignoring the protesting of some of the others as you go to stand next to Thorin and in front of him.
His intense blue eyes drill holes into you as he sizes you up, “An odd human girl with 13 dwarves. Clothes I’ve never seen before and a bag that is otherworldly. Interesting.” You do your best to hold his gaze, keeping your face as blank as possible.
“That isn’t any of your concern.” Thorin states next to you, but the elf still doesn’t turn his leer from you.
So what do you do?
What you do best.
“Is that a dagger in your pocket or are you just happy to see me?” Your expression doesn’t change as you say this, face remaining neutral as he falters.
Ding ding, Y/N 1, this guy 0.
“Excuse me?” He looks to be shocked by what you say, but you only shrug your shoulders as some of the others behind you laugh.
But your witty victory is short lived because now everyone is being hauled off to some elf kingdom where you’re sure Santa must live.
When you go to rejoin the others though, the blond elf puts a hand on your shoulder and states in a demanding tone, “You stay with me.”
Thorin turns quickly upon hearing that, “Leave her be, elf! She is one of us, and she will remain by our sides.” Some of the others shout their agreement.
The elf doesn’t listen.
And thats how you end up trailing behind the tall elf right in front of you while some of the others (Thorin, Fili, Dwalin, some others) look back to make sure you’re still there from time to time.
It warms your little ole heart! If only you weren’t all being led to imprisonment that is.
When the elf palace (you aren’t quite sure what else to call it) comes into view, it takes your breath away. Yeah, these guys are kinda assholes, but the architecture is astounding!
You couldn’t keep the awe from showing on your face, and when the elf glances back at you he chuckles. “Never seen an elvish structure before?”
You saw Rivendell which was also lovely, but they’re both beautiful in their own ways you suppose.
Yeah this guy is the enemy, but you just can’t keep yourself from mumbling how stunning it all is. He laughs again, seemingly a bit more friendly towards you than your dwarven companions, and continued on his way.
Upon entering the structure, you find that the outside is not nearly as awe-inspiring as the inside though.
The twisting trees and twinkling lights inside mesmerize you. It’s so grand, you almost forget that these elves are basically abducting you from your company by keeping you separated so far from them.
Your eyes fall upon the red-headed elf who helped out Kili, and your mouth runs before you can stop it. “Woah, shes freaking gorgeous."
At your sudden speech the blond male elf guy looks down at you with confusion, his eyebrows knitted together. "What?"
"Er, your friend over there is really pretty.” You restate, looking away as a flush darkens your face.
He doesn’t get a chance to say anything else before said she-eld falls into step with you and the blond.
She says something in that Elvish language of theirs and looks down at you, and once again you speak before thinking.
“Excuse me, do you have a map? Because I’m afraid I’ve gotten lost in your eyes.” It’s cheesy where you’re from, but here you’re a damn poetic genius.
Her face tints red at your words and she looks up at the blond guy briefly before looking at you again, “I-I’m sorry?"
"Oh, forgive me that was so forward. I just can’t help myself around someone so lovely.” Yeah, you’re laying it on thick, and it seems to be working in your favor pretty well cause she’s blushing and- oh, is that flattery you see?
“I don’t think I’ve ever been addressed in such a way…” She states breathlessly, looking at Mr. Blond again.
“How is that possible? My dear you have got to be the most beautiful-"
"Y/N!” Thorin states sharply, looking at you completely baffled (and he’s not the only one).
A pout comes to your face at the one word scolding, but you get the hint. “Man… Freaking Thorin…"
You look straight ahead and ignore the glares and confusion from your friends, crossing your arms over your chest as you continue to walk along silently.
"What a cute little thing.” She comments after a moment of observing your sulky form, reaching down to ruffle your hair. And, embarrassingly enough, you find yourself leaning into her touch slightly.
Hell yeah, this bitch is in. Maybe too much…
Yeah she actually is drop dead gorgeous, but you’ve gotta get these fools trust so you can crush them later. It’s essential to your 45 step escape plan.
“Me?” You ask, actually feeling a bit nervous to be getting as good as you gave. “C-Cute?"
There’s no time to answer verbally, because suddenly they split the group into Thorin, and everyone else, but you can see from their faces that it was meant to be taken seriously. You remain standing with the elves, a bit shy and confused as to why you haven’t been led to the others yet.
Some of them give you looks of concern, but you only flash bright smiles each time you make eye contact with someone. You can tell a few of them are annoyed with your lack of fear for the situation, but you hold onto the hope that Thorin will use his brain.
You break away from the elves and begin to follow after where the majority of the group is headed, but a firm hand landing on your shoulder stops you in place.
Glancing up at the blond elf, he only shakes his head, "You will go with him”, he nods his head over to Thorin.
The confusion shows clearly on your face, but you listen regardless and change your course as you join the leader of the group.
When you step up beside him, he looks at you with deep set confusion, “Why are you not with the others?"
All you do is shrug in response.
And then the two of you are being brought before the king.
At least that’s what the blond elf said because all you see is a woman on a chair-
Oh, wait. No, no, that is the King.
Turns out, you’re quite the jokester because you make yourself laugh with this line of thinking which earns you a sharp look from Thorin and two pairs of confused elf eyes on you.
You clamp your mouth shut and shrug your shoulders again, and then you and Thorin are being left with the elf king.
When he gets up from his chair you’re shocked by how tall he is. Even the other elf who was bossing you around doesn’t reach the height that he does.
When he begins to talk to Thorin about things you care little for, your gaze wanders away to view the lovely scene before you. The structure of this place is simply amazing. There is nothing like this from your home, all you had were huge neighborhoods, strip malls, and google images that provided you with things not even half as pretty as this.
While you gaze around someone clears their throat which effectively breaks you out of your little trance.
You turn your attention back towards Thorin and the large (and very pretty) elf quee-king.
Much to your dismay they’re both staring at you expectantly.
You blink your eyes a few times and stare dumbly as you rack your brain for any clue as to what just occurred, but you only draw a blank. "Um… ‘sup?” Thats all you could come up with? Really?
You mentally berate yourself for not paying attention, but it only seems to amuse the blond guy. “Interesting. You are not from here, are you?” He asks curiously. Thorin’s expression is sharp, and your eyes lock on him for a moment because you don’t know how much to reveal.
He shakes his head.
“Well obviously not. I’m a human. Have you not seen my ears? Or my height? Or anything?” Your sarcasm earns a snort of amusement from Thorin, but it seems that the king only found your sarcasm funny as well.
“You know what I mean. And the look you two shared only answers my question for me.”
You release a long and over dramatic sigh, crossing your arms over your chest. “Well.. It’s not your business where I’m from. So stop being lame and let us leave."
He stopped listening though and turned back to Thorin, "Where did you find such a person? Because I can most definitely tell that she is not from Middle Earth.”
Thorin only turns his head away and responds to something else probably stated while you were busy. He starts ranting about abandonment and how he wasn’t helped. He yells something in one of their languages, and then Thranduil is all up in his face.
“Do not talk to me of dragon fire! I know… its wrath and ruin.” The king makes a weird face and you find yourself become uncomfortable as his face warps and reveals horribly scarred skin.
“I have faced… the great serpents of the North.” He then steps back and stops leaning over as his skin quickly returns to normal. “I warned your grandfather of what his greed would summon. But he would not listen. You are just like him.”
Two guards seize him suddenly and you protest loudly, “Hey! Leave him alone!” You only get ignored.
“Stay here if you will… and rot.” They start dragging him down the stairs and you move to follow after, but the booming voice of King Thranduil stops you. “Not you. You stay where you are."
Thorin yells at him in his tongue, then yells out in an outrage, "She comes with me!” He only gets hauled further away as you look between him and the blond elf who is standing at the steps to his throne.
You take a few steps forward towards where Thorin is being dragged off to, but your arm is grabbed and yanked back towards him harshly.
The king under the mountain continues to rage on until he disappears out of your sight, the hand on your arm not releasing you even after he is gone.
You turn a glare up at the king and snatch your arm away, “What do you want? I have nothing to say to you!”
He only smooths his robes back down and steps away. "You and I have much to discuss…“
Thorin regains his composure long before he reaches the dungeon down below, not wanting to alert his company of his obvious distress. Though he does brood more than usual and the constant scowl on his features immediately worries those looking upon him.
"Where’s Y/N?” Is the first thing he hears after he’s shoved into his own cell. He looks over towards the area the question came from and sees Kili standing there with his hands on the bars.
“That pointy eared pixie wouldn’t let her come here with me.”
Someone exclaims their anger loudly in a cell not far from his, but he only continues. “That elvish garbage refused to let her come with me, and when she tried to follow he grabbed her arm as if he had any right-!” He cuts himself off and sits down, hands clenched into fists as he thinks about it.
The others yell out their own anger at that, and then Ori speaks up softly, “What does he want with ‘er? She’s only a human…"
Balin speaks up next, "Does he want to know about where she’s from…? Perhaps that be the reason right there! She speaks oddly and her clothes are suspicious”
Nobody wanted to even think about that. If you refused to give them the answers they wanted, what would they do?
Everyone is undoubtedly sharing the same dark and worrying thoughts.
“Mahal…"
They all understand the feeling.
