Train to Busan (2016)
Train to Busan is a South Korean action horror movie directed by Yeon Sang-ho, and starring a large cast including, Gong Yoo, Jung Yu-mi, Ma Dong-seok, Kim Su-an, Choi Woo-sik, Ahn So-hee, Choi Gwi-hwa, and Kim Eui-sung. It follows Seok-woo (Gong Yoo), a workaholic divorced father, who at the request of his daughter Soo-an (Kim Su-an), boards a train to Busan with her to take his daughter to see her mother for Soo-an's birthday. However, a zombie outbreak quickly throws the train and the rest of South Korea into chaos, and the self centered businessman is forced to work with other passengers to survive.
The movie was very interesting, some spoilers from here on out for the review. Seok-woo's arc in this movie is really good, he starts out the movie as very focused on his career, and once things go badly he only tries to save himself and his daughter, who he tells to only watch out for herself in situations like this. It is only through the actions of others however, that he even survives so long in the first place, such as the husband Sang-hwa (Ma Dong-seok) who Seok-woo almost let's die earlier on, but fights to save him and others, not just including himself and his pregnant wife regardless. Also side note here I like the little fake out earlier in the movie with him and his wife before anything insane happens you would expect his ill wife in the bathroom to be infected, but she was actually just feeling sick from her pregnancy. We even see that the traumatized homeless man (Choi Gwi-ha) who Seok-woo does nothing to save in an earlier scene, throws his coat over a zombie about to eat Seok-woo showing even a man so terrified is more selfless than Seok-woo at this point. The movie is really about collaboration, most people don't just die randomly they die as a sacrifice to help others, or die due to a lack of cooperation, such as everyone who is screwed over by the conductor (Kim Eui-sung) an antagonist of the film. Helping others is the only way people can really survive in this movie, and I like it a lot more than the usual "Man is the real monster" narrative, because even though there are people at odds with each other, it's whether they help others or not that the film focuses on. My favorite scene is when on one end of one of the train cars Seok-woo and Sang-hwa are barely holding off a group of zombies, while the rest of their group try to get into the car on the other side, which is filled with people who are convinced by the conductor that Seok-woo's group may be infected, and too dangerous to let in, there's an amazing visual parallel between the zombies reaching their arms in, and the people trying to force their way into the next car.
In conclusion, this movie was amazing I completely recommend it. I hope subtitles don't scare people away from amazing movies from other countries, I think anyone, especially those who like zombie movies, must watch this one.

Values that made ‘Curtain Call’ look new
Tumblr media
KBS2’s Monday-Tuesday drama ‘Curtain Call’, which ended on the 27th, was a heart-warming drama. In it, the message of family love and love left behind by Geum Soon Geum (Go Doo Shim) when she passed away clearly shone. The family love that could not be broken even in the midst of war formed a beautiful sumi relationship and completed a depressing impression. So, the remaining families were able to draw a lively future in search of their own happiness.
The final episode recorded a rating of 5.7% (Nielsen Korea), and the scene where Seo Yoon-hee (Jung Ji-so) honestly confesses her feelings to Yoo Jae-heon (Kang Ha-neul) recorded the highest rating of 6.7%.
'Curtain Call' is the story of people involved in the greatest scam on earth by a man (played by Kang Ha-neul) who received an unprecedented special mission to make the wishes of a terminally ill grandmother, Geum Soon-soon, come true. However, looking at it now that the final episode has been broadcast, I have found more value than just a scam. It wasn't cheating, it was a play.
Neither Jae-heon Yoo (Ha-neul Kang), the fake grandson of Jeon Geum-sun, nor Moon-seong Lee (Sang-hyeon Noh), her real grandson, made everyone realize their roles and values. Geum Soon knew that Yoo Jae Heon was not Ri Mun Sung. However, she did not detect, report, or punish fakes. Rather, she made me understand the role of fake. She made me realize that even a fake could become real if she was sincere.
Her real grandson, Lee Moon-seong, eventually let go of her hatred and resentment and honestly conveyed her words that she missed her, warming the heart of Geum-soon, who had suffered from her cold heart.
Her wealth, left behind by her net worth, was divided equally among her southern grandsons as well as her northern true grandson Li Wencheng. She left no legacy to her fake grandchildren.
However, the property that the real grandson Li Moon-seong will receive was entrusted to Jeong Sang-cheol (Sung Dong-il) until she acquired Korean nationality. It was the will of Jeon Ji-soon that Ri Mun-seong would take root in the south and settle down well. In doing so, in the end, Geumsun's great will to unite her family as one without the sale of the hotel, which was her eldest grandson Park Se-joon's (Ji Seung-hyeon) plan, was embedded in her legacy.
‘Curtain Call’ showed the difference as a K-drama in that it dealt with the pain and separation of the nation. In addition, the 'play within a play' setting, in which theater actors act in real life, was selected as another differentiated charm from existing works.
This distinction has received word of mouth not only in Korea but also abroad, and has received attention as it consistently rises to the top of the world through various OTT services such as Amazon Prime Video, Rakuten Viki, and iQiyi International. It is proof that the healing message of family and love, which are universal languages, was conveyed to people around the world through Korea's special history, leaving a deep lingering impression.
The synergy of famous actors also played a big part in the work. Kang Ha-neul, Ha Ji-won, Go Doo-shim, and Seong Dong-il each performed a high-density performance worthy of the 2022 Acting Grand Prize.
Kang Ha-neul took on the role of Yoo Jae-heon, an unknown theater actor who became the fake grandson of Jang Geum-soon, and captivated viewers with his monstrous immersion. Ha Ji-won showed a more mature performance as Park Se-yeon, the charismatic general manager of Hotel Nagwon and a warm and kind hearted person.
Go Doo-shim took on the role of Geum-soon Geum-soon, the founder of Hotel Nakwon, who has an upright mentality even with a time limit of three months, and impressed with the expressiveness of characters on a different level. With Go Doo-shim at the center, the actors' performances were able to gather.
Seong Dong-il brilliantly played the role of Sang-cheol, the assistant to Geum-soon, who arranges everything for her to make her happy and let her go.
Romance wasn't the sorting out winners and losers like real and fake fate. Yoo Jae-heon (Kang Ha-neul) decided to have a serious meeting with Park Se-yeon (Ha Ji-won) as a theater actor, not a fake sister. Seo Yoon-hee (Jung Ji-so) said that she liked Yoo Jae-heon, and she chose her trip to the United States as planned. Bae Dong-jae (Kwon Sang-woo) first proposed to Park Se-yeon to break off her engagement, then asked for a new chance. Both Kwon Sang-woo and Jung Ji-so were cool characters in the melodrama.

You can be a bad bitch but not for long when Saturn is influencing you:
1) Realistically, Saturnians can have a natural mean streak. People don't want to talk about how Saturn can bring chaos. Actors, writers and directors carry out themes and behaviours of their prominent planetary-influences in their Art. And those characters embody negative traits of Saturn. Oppressing other characters and stealing opportunities from others through very controlling behaviour. They don't like it when somebody is better than them, if there's even such a thing to them. They don't like it when someone is even on their level, they want to be the single powerhouse. Whether or not they worked hard for that spot.
Saturn is powerful, and so their natives can have some kind of position of power over others and they will abuse this power. Devoid of remorse or any empathy. And it's funny, after all the shit that some of these characters pulled, there's always karma snatching their ass. Saturn carries out karma even to their natives. All the chaos they have caused, all the hurt and suffering or living off of others, can actually be a lesson to the native. Saturn is also about maturity. That's why sometimes the characters can redeem themselves or go through some form of suffering to learn to be humble.
Another perspective :
2) Ironically, Saturn women — specifically Saturn-nakshatra natives — are the least problematic and most pleasing women you'll ever encounter. Generally, they are well-mannered and caring despite their distant nature which makes them come off cold to others. So how can the most expectedly goodie-two-shoes girls play these type of roles?
Saturn makes it's natives reserved and emotionally-restrained. They contain their emotions better than natives of other planetary-influence. So it's not surprising when Mandy Moore's co-stars have said she is literally the sweetest person you'll ever meet; but then she's a total bitch onscreen (Princess Diaries). In their roles, they can go all in, because there's no longer a need for containment. Saturnians play really good antagonists because of this, since the restrictions of Saturn disappear in Performance Art, they'll go all in and take audiences by surprise. The spoiled, chaotic/psychotic bratty character is especially suitable for the native in a watery rashi (Anuradha, Pushya, Uttara Bhadrapada), water making them more unhinged and unpredictable – much like a hurricane.
And it's interesting, the girls I've mentioned in my first post also have Saturn influence:
Megan Fox might also be an Uttara Ashada/Shravana Ascendant (Capricorn), her possible Magha Ascendant aside. Emma Roberts is a Dhanishta Sun (Capricorn) and Sasha Pieterson is a Dhanishta Sun too (in the Aquarius rashi) and she has an Uttara Ashada Moon (Capricorn).
See I've literally covered every element; all my water signs, earth signs, air signs and fire signs can be mean, ruthless bitches. Lmaoo.
Anyways 🌚 that's it for now.

Mystic Pop-up Bar
Have you guys watched Mystic Pop-up Bar? I watched it in 2020 and I'm rewatching it again. Probably one of my favorite K-dramas!
Mystic Pop-up Bar tells the story of a mysterious pojangmacha (outdoor drinking establishment) run by an ill-tempered woman named Weol-ju (Hwang Jung-eum), an innocent part-time employee named Han Kang-bae (Yook Sung-jae), and a former afterlife detective known as Chief Gwi (Choi Won-young) who visit customers in their dreams to help resolve their problems. Kang-bae has a unique ability that is useful to Weol-ju - with a touch, he can make people pour out all their troubles. This is very useful to Weol-ju who needs to settle the grudges of 100,000 souls. (Wikipedia.com)
Don't expect an in-depth review here, just wanted to gush about how much I enjoyed this drama. I guess I tend to have a soft spot for TV series about afterlife (ahem, The Good Place).
It's not as popular as its 2020 peers (Sweet Home, The King: Eternal Monarch), but I think Mystic Pop-Up Bar mainly owes its charm to its zany characters, fictional dream realms that borrow Freudian concepts, and slapstick sequences that combine the mystique of Korean shamanic mythology and over-the-top whimsicality of modern Korean humor. It's light yet complex in its own way—not as fleshed out as The Good Place in terms of world-building but you have to give it to them for packing all of that under twelve 1-hour episodes. I understand why it may not be everyone's cup of tea, but I'll always fall for campy and kooky!
