Currently reading the first Shady Hollow book. Absolutely delighted by it! If you like cozy mysteries, adult fiction with middle grade vibes, and talking woodland creatures... have a go! It's adorable, exciting, and Vera Vixen is my new favourite sleuth in more recent detective fiction 🦊

Happy Valentine's Day! A day to celebrate love in all it's many forms be it romantic/platonic/self-love! Recently finished reading the cozy murder mystery series Shady Hollow by Juneau Black and loved the chipmunk husbands Geoffrey and Ben so just had to draw them!

Recently finished the two Shady Hollow short stories. Man, are they short but I liked them! My fav was the Phantom Pond, I really liked the atmosphere and really felt like a cozy mystery with Halloween (Gate Night), the legend of Creeping Juniper, etc. I enjoy a quick read personally, and I like how it's not stressful to read the series. They don't spoiler the books in the main series, which is a nice touch.

I like to imagine the animals as Animal Crossing, Fantastic Mr.Fox or Hoodwinked. I saw some reviews complain about the characters being animals doing human stuff which I'm like? Personified animals are quite popular in media.

Anyway, I'd love to see a stop motion movie on any of the series, specifically Phantom Pond. Couldn't tell you why that one specifically, but I imagined it as stop motion. Has anyone else read the books? I wanna talk about them, but no one else I know has read them 😔 I'm going to start Twilight Falls soon, and I'm eyeballing Summer's End coming out this year.

Well, I got to go to the local book store today and I found some books to add to my ever growling TBR list, some I was expecting while others where a surprise. I did end up buying a couple of things for my hubby while I was there. That’ll be a nice surprise for him when he gets home from work later this afternoon. Now, I ordered two more books online because I was unable to find them at my local…

Just finished the coziest of cozy mysteries, Shady Hollow by Juneau Black.

A small town of animals who act like humans, a murder to be solved, and a fun read.

Lenore, the bookstore owning raven will probably be any avid reader's favorite character.

If you like fast paced books, but are tired of people, pick this up.

So I'm reading the blurb to a cozy mystery and the main character's name is Vera Vixen which having lived in the Balkans is a vowel change away from finding out that a foreigner's name is Walmart Walrus. Waluart Walrus.

Cozy with a high stakes conflict, didn't know you could have both! But in the world of artists, of course there are those breaking the norms and rules! Shady Hollow starts so quaint and cute and even with the reveal of the untimely death at the center of the story, stays that way!

Shady Hollow Mysteries

Introducing the village of Shady Hollow, a place where woodland creatures live together in harmony - until a curmudgeonly toad turns up dead and the local reporter has to solve the case.

Reporter Vera Vixen is a relative newcomer to Shady Hollow. The fox has a nose for news, so when she catches wind that the death might be a murder, she resolves to get to the bottom of the case, no matter where it leads. As she stirs up still waters, the fox exposes more than one mystery, and discovers that additional lives are in jeopardy.

Vera finds more to this town than she ever suspected. It seems someone in the Hollow will do anything to keep her from solving the murder, and soon it will take all of Vera’s cunning and quickness to crack the case.
