Gloria began basic nursing training at a hospital to prepare for becoming a volunteer army nurse and going to Korea to serve. Some afternoons after her classes, she met up with Betsy, Naomi, and June to stroll around the city and look in the windows of their favorite shops. Meanwhile, between his college classes, Salim enjoyed writing short stories for the campus literary magazine, as well as reading, often stopping by the Morales apartment to do so.

As the date for her to leave for Korea neared, Gloria found her conversations with Salim becoming more serious, with a sense of underlying urgency. Though he hadn't proposed yet, he had broached the topic several times. "After you come back and after I graduate, we should get married, Inshallah."

"Of course. Nothing would make me happier, my love," she said. Emboldened by his promise, Gloria felt herself confident enough to take the next step. Shortly before she was set to leave, one thing led to another, and any anxiety Gloria may have had melted away in Salim's arms.

Ahriman: So you're already in your wolf form today?

Rory: I figured it'd be okay, since you're the only one who lives in Glimmerbrook, and I didn't want to scare you this time.

Rory: Anyway, Happy Winterfest!

Ahriman: What?

Rory: It's from me, my family, Lou, and Celene. I'm not sure if you'll like it, but we think you might need it.

Ahriman: Oh, um, thanks.

Ahriman: This is a phone, right?

Rory: Yup. I added the numbers to everyone you know, so that you can contact us. I'll show you the basics before I leave.

Rory: … and this is where you send text messages. Now you give it a try.

⠀

Ahriman: What kind of sorcery is this!?

Rory: Calm down a notch and it will go much better.

⠀

Rory: You'll also need to charge it sometimes.

⠀

Ahriman: As in running electric current through it?

⠀

Rory: Exactly. You can charge it at our place if you want, since you're off the electrical grid.

Ahriman: Maybe I could do it with Zipzap instead.

Rory: Maybe be a bit careful with casting spells on it. It might break.

Ahriman: I'll just use Repairio if it breaks.

Rory: ...

⠀

Rory: It's getting early, so I should go home. I guess we're not on hugging basis yet?

⠀

Ahriman: I've never been on hugging basis with anyone, so don't hold your hopes up for that.

Nothing will deter June from accomplishing her goals in life, even if they are a bit erratic. She once got WAY into woodworking… random, right? But she followed through; months of hard work in the gym built the muscles she needed to carve every piece of furniture in her home from a solid oak tree. Something else she realized she wanted was Steve Fogel—they're an odd couple, but ambition is a trait this pair will never find themselves short of.

Yet another favorite! Again, I think it's the color palette, but she also has such a cute face.

LET’S INVESTIGATE! - Episode 2 

Emma took the cake for flying to Ohan’ali, technically the capital of the newest US territory (Sulani/Selvadorada) and partner town of Detroit, but even so not quite adjacent to it.

Emma: “What happened here?”

June: “What HAPPENED here? You still have to ASK?”

Say, Jin, did you properly remove the summoning circle you drew behind the bar during your vacation...? Nope. Doesn’t look like it. And Emma, who also has maximum Medium skill, is not allowed to remove it, because that would mean tempering with the crime scene.

I still don’t get a clear picture of what exactly happened, just that the spectres were to blame and that graffitti is everywhere now. And that a certain someone isn’t welcome in Ohan’ali town anymore.

Gloria's Diary

Salim asked me to our school's Senior Dance and I accepted, of course! I can't believe it's finally my turn to attend with my boyfriend after I was the one who told Sal to ask Mary to his dance in the first place. I wore a beautiful yellow patterned dress and Salim looked dashing in his suit. The gym was transformed with balloons and streamers. I spent a lot of time with both my friends and my boyfriend. Dancing with him felt like a dream!

We stole away out back to the courtyard and he told me, "I don't know how I got so lucky to have you, Gloria. You're beautiful, smart, confident, friendly— and I don't know what I'm going to do after school."

"We're only seventeen, Salim," I told him. "We have time. The night is still young. Will you help me make it last?"

And he did.
