when i was sick my mom would just give me a plastic basin to puke in if i was in bed and couldnt get to the toilet in time. it was like a shitty plastic basin or whatever that could be washed out easily

designated plastic basin for puking in is one thing, i also feel like using a bucket or a garbage can (with a liner obv) is pretty normal. but a Bowl???

7. What triggers nostalgia for them, most often? Do they enjoy that feeling?

oh God lmao caine's entire character arc is so centered around nostalgia and the experience of being caught in the past. they are so very big on holding onto like the artifacts of their past so to speak, like they carry around their brother's scarf and their sister's knife everywhere. they hate the pain of actually looking back at the past (which is like what nostalgia even means) but they also romanticize the past heavily.

15. How do they speak? Is what they say usually thought of on the spot, or do they rehearse it in their mind first?

caine's manner of speaking is what i usually call "pattertalk" in the script--their internal monologue is really well-put together but when they get nervous or stressed they start speaking really quickly and without filter. they do rehearse in a sense by monologuing but that doesn't mean it actually translates

34. How hard is it for them to shake a sense of guilt?

OH GOD everett you chose such targeted questions. literally the next episode of @undertheelectricstarspodcast is about dealing with and handling guilt. caine feels like the whole weight of the world and a sense of abandonment tied with guilt (if i was better, they would have stayed) so they are so bad at shaking it, they just carry it FOREVER until someone pries it out of their vice grip

E. Are they someone you would get along with? Would they get along with you?

caine and i are so similar. i think they might think i was a bit of a pussy but like otherwise we would get along very well

G. What trait of theirs bothers you the most?

caine stop running away from your problems challenge

H. What trait do you admire most?

caine has a very strong sense of conviction and justice that even i don't have. like i think the story is certainly less nuanced than real life BUT i like that caine will jump to people's defense and to the pursuit of justice without hesitation

Roswell Dimitriou [she/they, late 40s] is an escaped convict from Mars. She claims to be a doctor, but she doesn't seem to actually care all that much about her own health.

Extremely blunt, to the point of being rude. Has the magical ability to both rend people asunder and also knit them back together, at the cost of her own flesh. She's almost always hunched, and can be found chainsmoking in almost any scenario.

Julian’s stuff needs a story. I always felt like his quarters seemed kinda spartan and impersonal. Other than Kukalaka and maybe the books, what even is this stuff? It’s like he said, “I need to look like a human adult, let me get things” and then raided a Space Home Goods.

re: on line vs in line in NYC, its so bizarre cus ive almost always used '[waiting] in line' but the more i think about it the more i realize people also use 'on line' down here equally too. help

YEAH i definitely hear both also but i think “on line” is more common, or at least more common from people i can tell are locals (NY accents). had no awareness this sounds weird to other people until i went to college in MA and was suddenly the Funny New York Guy who said Funny New York Things

I would go with wildcard. Sloan is like the Missy to Julian’s Doctor from Doctor Who, so that makes sense.

Ways to get around Sloan’s death in post-canon fics:

Sloan clones (either he’s always been one or he now has one)

Julian put him in stasis after, managed to repair his brain damage and revived him; Sloan then escaped/was let go

AU: Julian found and deactivated the termination device before Sloan could use it

AU: Sloan’s device was faulty and didn’t activate

AU: another agent was sent instead and met the same fate (Sloan almost went and is salty about it though)

Wildcard: everything in the episode happened exactly the same and no explanation for how/why Sloan isn’t still dead is given
