What does your OC do when they have a crush on someone?

🌌 MILKY WAY - what was the inspiration behind your oc? what was the first thing you decided about them?

Josiah: My inspiration for Josiah was my ideal type at the time, mostly basing it on otome and anime characters that I'm usually drawn to. Blond and Black hair, green eyes, and a gentle and soft disposition. Cottage-core aesthetic with androgenous features - long hair, long eyelashes, soft facial features. Josiah's story is always evolving, so inspiration comes and goes randomly.

Orion: I chose to base him off Orion from the otome game, Amnesia. Orion was a cute, little spirit that would guide the MC through different routes and experiences. Essentially being her only trusted friend. I didn't want to fully copy him, so I thought of things that I liked and put a twist to it. Orion is an "alien" from the planet Katentea, in the constellation of Bellatrix. His real name is Atlas. Again, for his physical appearance, I just chose what I liked on anime characters - white and black hair, red and purple eyes. The gemstones on his head was a spur-of-the-moment decision.

Sage: I don't even remember how I found inspiration for him. Maybe I just wanted a circus-type character after watching/reading Black Butler. A British, dark academia aesthetic was something I really liked back then.

Hikage & Alani: I remember seeing a Crobidoll Zion with white hair (sort of like a wolf-cut style), and instantly thought of a Prince. Since I loved both Crobidoll Zion and Zia, I figured I could just make them twins, and make them royalty. I remember being intimidated at first because there's a lot that goes into royalty aesthetics and politics. For Alani's character, I wanted someone who would make a prefect queen. Someone girly, bubbly, and outgoing. Yet someone who was strong-willed, stubborn, and decisive. For Hikage, I wanted the opposite. I love twins who look the same, yet feel like two complete strangers. Someone who was introverted, yet strong, brave and confident. Someone who could blend into the shadows and collect intel to his sister. I also love siblings who get along well, especially when the brother is the protector, whether or not the sister needs the protection. He'll always be on his sister's team. Later on, I wanted to incorporate ninja somewhere in my story, and I thought the easiest would be for Hikage. As time went on, Alani's side was pretty straight forward with her girly and queenly aesthetics, but Hikage's character became darker and darker. I originally wanted him to be this, happy-go-lucky character with great humor and loved teasing his sister. Now he's all serious about work lol.

Constance: His character was just based off brainstorming. I want to make a ton of more characters, and on the list was a fairy or pixie. And I chose that for him. I also wanted to make a poor character and an orphan, so I put those on him too. I guess I thought I was being too light and bright on my other OC's.

Nowhere says “the Establishment” quite like St James's Square. The replacement, a neo-Georgian office block by Alfred & David Ospalek, has some pleasing stone relief panels by Newbury A Trent depicting cries of London. They hardly make up for the loss though.

And if you think that was vandalism, Nos. 1-2 on the corner of Charles II Street was Ossulton House, from 1753. Until the Westminster Bank acquired the site and, in 1950, demolished it and built themselves an office block. Which in turn has gone, to be replaced by the current gem, which is as pure an example of the City of Westminster’s preferred contextual building style as to make you want to scream…

Scream away. No. 8 follows the same recipe. Look how discreetly it blends its modern credentials with these Georgians. The original no. 8 was Josiah Wedgwood’s showroom in the C18, but you can’t stop the tide of change. Indeed, for most of the C20, no one bothered trying, it seems…

🤥 LYING - are they good liars? do they have tells to show they're lying?

The good liars are Sage and Hikage. Hikage is in a business where he needs to lie to stay safe. Sage has been alive for so long, he's mastered the artform. Alani is a middle level liar. You can easily see that she's lying once you find her quirk - tapping her pinky finger one time after the lie has been told. Orion is just an all around honest person, and doesn't believe he should lie about anything. He's lived a lot longer than Sage, and understands that lying isn't worth the headache later. Constance is too pure. His starts to squirm and shift, fidget with his sleeves and avoids eye contact. Josiah is a middle level liar too. However, his is more noticeable compared to Alani's. He just doesn't make eye contact, and his voice gets softer.

Henry II, Edward I, and Edward III are the only really valid options, if we're accepting Henry II as the first and Richard II as the last Plantagenet.

Richard I was too busy crusading to be King and Bartlet, for all his religious devotion, puts the needs of the country first. John was too incompetent and Bartlet is anything but. Henry III trusted the wrong people, perpetuated his father's incompetent dealings with the barons, and nearly got replaced by King Louis, only to be rescued by his son, Edward I, but only by losing that which he had been fighting for. Edward II was deposed by his Queen and her lover after an ignoble reign where he put his personal attachments over the good of the country. Bartlet puts the country first. Richard II was a child leader who rose to the occasion early, but had an ungovernable temper and killed his opposition until he was killed and his throne taken.

Edward I was a good king, but a tad too militaristic-he was the hammer of the Scots. Bartlet uses the military when necessary, but it's usually more of a defensive measure. Edward III had to take power from his mother and kill her lover, but he did have a long, fruitful reign and had many children.

I think I'll go with Henry II, however. He had a strong, capable wife. He had a temper, but he repented for his mistakes and sought to atone. His favorite child was his youngest (son). He fought with his children, but there was still love, though his relationship with his second (son) was troubled. Yet he made great administrative progress, improving England's bureaucracy and courts of law. He could be very diplomatic when necessary. He was a flawed man, but a great king, who did what needed to be done.

So yes. I'd say President Bartlet is closest to Henry II out of all the Plantagenets.

Don't know much about papal history so was wondering "What if" at 1550 papal conclave Englishman and cousin to the Tudors Reginald Pole had won which in real life he nearly did? He seems to be not completely fairly viewed as conservative because he opposed the Act of Supremacy and his own life outside of the Tudors gets overshadowed.

I don't particularly know much about Reginald de la Pole's intra-Catholic religious politics (where did he stand on the Counter-Reformation? Was he an arch-traditionalist or more of an Erasmian reformer?) but I think he's generally viewed as someone with strong Catholic beliefs, given his position on the King's Great Matter let alone the Act of Supremacy.

To be honest, I think the main impact of de la Pole being elected Pope would be the rapid acceleration and intensification of English Anti-Catholicism.

If the Bishop of Rome is not merely attempting to assert a foreign jurisdiction in England, but is a Yorkist Pretender to the throne seeking to bring down England's Josiah, things are going to get very dicey very suddenly because now being an open Catholic or having Catholic sympathies is going to be seen as high treason pure and simple. In this timeline, exclusion from the succession is not going to be enough for Mary, and she will probably go down in history as a willing martyr for the True Religion.

With Queen Jane I and King John II jure uxoris leading the charge after Edward's death, there will be no room for the more Catholic-friendly elements of the Elizabethan religious settlement - England is going to go full Calvinist along with Scotland, the Netherlands, and the Huguenots. In fact, England is going to get stuck into the French Wars of Religion and try to detach as much of coastal France as it can in the name of Reformed Religion.

josiah's eyes narrowed slightly as he took in the scene before him, the tension in the room palpable. he let out a slow breath, forcing a smirk to his lips despite the unease curling in his chest. “avoid you?” he drawled, stepping further into the room with a casual swagger that belied the weight of the situation. “now why would i ever want to do that?”

his gaze drifted to the gun in her hand, lingering for just a moment before he met her eyes again. “looks like you were ready for anything, though. miss me that much?” his tone was teasing, but there was an edge to it, a hint of something darker beneath the surface.

josiah leaned against the doorframe, mirroring her stance with his arms crossed over his chest. “or maybe you just like the thrill of keeping me on my toes,” he added, his voice dropping to a low, almost intimate murmur. “so, what’s it going to be? you going to shoot me, or do we skip the drama this time?”
