Jack returns to Matthew and Diana in the 21st century, a blood-rage vampire troubled and hurting. Matthew is all guilt and sorrow.

Peter Pan & Wendy has lightning-related strobe effects during the first few minutes, all shining in distant windows. One scene is lit by a flickering flame.

There is some disorienting camera work when flying is depicted, including high speeds, extreme heights, barrel rolls, and some handheld-style camera work. Scenes taking place on a ship include a constant gentle rocking. One sequence shows the environment turning upside-down.

Flashing Lights: 5/10. Motion Sickness: 6/10.

TRIGGER WARNING: Children are threatened throughout the film.

Movie #1,231 • KIDZONE

Unceremoniously dumped on Disney+, I can’t fathom why this hasn’t gotten more love. Look, I watch a lot of kids' garbage and this is worlds better than most of it. Maybe my admiration/appreciation for David Lowery clouded some of the obvious criticisms but I was glued to this for nearly all of the very generous 90-minute runtime (what should be the max runtime for childrens movies!). I don’t go deep into the Pan-Verse and the various iterations/differences in the millions of adaptations at this point (although it’s a fascinating, strange and subtly deep tale). Do whatever the hell you want with the Peter Pan story is my take. And I’m glad that Lowery did just that.

[Ed. Note: On the ole blog, I used to grade these movies on a very different sliding scale based (almost) exclusively on how much my own kids enjoyed them. But I won’t be doing that here! Everything is fair game for my scorn now hahaha!!]

Jack has a nightmare and Matthew rushes to comfort the little lad. 

Bit hard to make this scene visible ( so dark and hazy) but it's one of my favourite bits in episode 3 coz we see a facet of Matthew that we have not really seen before - father.  OK we saw Matthew with Marcus but he's an adult ‘child’.  Sometimes I forget that Matthew was a father to young son Lucas and the pain of his loss must remain  AND from this little scene we see how tender and protective he is in daddy mode.  Aww.

You’ve been here for seven months. You’ve conceived a child. The longest I’ve ever spent in the past is two weeks. You aren’t timewalkers anymore. You’ve succumbed to one of the most basic transgressions of anthropological fieldwork: you’ve gone native.’

‘I was here before, Stephen,’ Matthew said mildly, though his fingers drummed on his thigh. That was never a good sign. ‘I’m aware of that, Matthew,’ my father shot back. ‘But you’ve introduced far too many variables for the past to remain as it was.’

Mmmh, Stephen has got a point. The hardest part of this story for me is that Matthew and Diana adopted Jack and then left him behind. This is so heart-breaking. I can't 😭😭😭
