Lowkey surprised American Girl hasn't come out with a line of next generation dolls. Girls who had the original dolls are having kids of their own. Think how awesome it would be if their American Girl was too. Get new historical dolls as well as a twenty year update on your American Girl. Maybe a new book franchise for adults. Think of the bonding. The generational healing.

American Girl's Site is Broken as Hell

Thanks to @lesbianleaclark for finding a bunch of their bullshit for me

SO. American Girl’s official site is absolutely awful right now. Whoever’s running it is either not paying attention or does not care at all about what’s going on but here’s a quick list of mistakes that literally anyone with eyes can catch:

1. Easily Noticed Spelling Errors

On the Create Your Own page, you can choose the face mold of your doll, from Classic, Josefina, Jess, Sonali and Addy molds. However, they spell Josefina as “Josephina.”

There’s no excuse for this, she’s not even retired. You’re still selling her, you shouldn’t be able to afford to spell her goddamn name wrong. It’s your own trademark!

As well as this, @desertdollranch​ pointed out here that Kaya’s second book, Smoke on the Wind, is listed as Smoke in the Wind.

2. Incorrect Doll Listings

Since American Girl has gotten into stopmotion videos, they’ve started using Truly Mes for the characters who don’t have dolls; fair, makes sense. Except... they’ve listed the wrong dolls TWICE.

For Courtney’s stepsister Tina, they link to Truly Me 25 for Tina; however, in the stopmotions, she is portrayed by Truly Me 68.

Truly Me 68 has a completely different face mold to 25- Josefina vs Classic- and has brown hair parted to the lift, while 25 has black hair parted to the left.

And this isn’t all! And the second one is honestly more upsetting.

The site lists Kira’s friend Alexis as Truly Me 55; however, they got this wrong twice over.

Truly Me 55 is a light-skinned Classic Mold with freckles, dark brown wavy hair, and hazel eyes.

In the Kira stopmotion, Alexis is portrayed by what seems to be literally Josefina Montoya- aka? Medium-skinned Josefina Mold with no freckles, straight black hair and dark brown eyes.

And in the promotional material? Alexis is definitely not even an existing doll, but a Create-Your-Own, as proved by @the-ag-boarding-house​ with these photos from the store display

The CYO doesn’t even look like TM55 either; she clearly has darker skin, brown eyes, and black hair- and most importantly, a Jess Face Mold.

If you’re not hip with the American Girl lingo, here’s what the major face molds are used for:

Classic: White dolls

Josefina: Originally intended for Latine dolls, now used for White as well

Jess: East Asian dolls

So... AG is advertising a white doll for a character that is portrayed either with a latine or east asian face mold.

Yikes.

3. The Archives are a Mess

On AG’s page for archived dolls, multiple mistakes can be seen.

For one, Elizabeth’s retirement year is listed as 2014 with the other best friend dolls... except Elizabeth was retired with Felicity in 2011.

The first three Girls of the Year also have their retirement years wrong: everyone else has their retirement year listed as the year after their debut (see Chrissa and Tenney below), but the first three are listed as:

Lindsey 2002: she was retired in 2003, as she lasted for two years

Kailey 2004: she was retired in 2005, as she lasted for two years

Marisol 2005: she was retired in 2006

As well as this, when Molly and Emily are shown in the archives, they are shown together with full names; all other best friend dolls are shown separately.

However, with Tenney and Logan, Logan’s name is not listed at all, and with Chrissa, her best friends Gwen and Sonali aren’t even pictured.
