Not into shipcest (I don't judge though), but I love strong platonic sibling bonds in fiction and I too LOVED LOVED Dinah and Joseph in The Red Tent. How he was DinahŹ¼s ā€œtruest friendā€ ā¤ļø Despised the way the book ended with them being indifferent towards each other though :( and wasnŹ¼t a fan of the writting choice to make DinahŹ¼s oc son the reason for their falling out and the intellect behind Joseph as governor of Egypt, too much of a gary sue-ish choice for me, plus my dreamworks, cradle Catholic, and music theater childhood sensibilities were hurt lol. I would have preferred a mentor-student relationship between Joseph and DinahŹ¼s son where both of them are smart.
Although overall I liked the book more, I liked the show ending more than the bookŹ¼s ending even though the former is cliche. In the show Joseph and Dinah are so affectionate with each other when they meet again šŸ„¹, I love it, and it is implied that they remain family and continue to see each other often.
I am still thinking of The Red Tent shipcest. Especially Dinah's relationship with Joseph, the brother she was nursed with, her beloved playmate, who held her hand when their brothers weren't there to mock them, who told her the stories that Jacob told to his sons and who listened when she told him the stories their mothers told to her, who wore the tunic his mother wove for him with pride, who loved so deeply and especially loved Dinah.
The problem with biblical fiction is that I wish desperately there was a fandom because I want to explore these characters, Dinah and Joseph not as figures from the Bible or the Torah, but Anita Diamant's interpretation of them and their love for each other. But there's no fandom which is a goddamn shame.

It's a response to Rachel Zegler's opinion on Snow White and the Seven Dwarfs.
It seems to me some people don't see the difference between not liking a movie and a movie being bad.
I didn't like Deadpool, Everything Everywhere All at Once, and Barbie 2023.
But I like Shark Tale (Polish DUB), unironically like Star Wars prequels and Joseph King of Dreams (direct-to-video sequel to Prince of Egypt).
I can live with Zegler not liking Snow White as a kid because she thought it looked scary. I can live with her not liking the prince that only has 5 minutes of screen time, I can live with her not liking romance stories but I can't give her a pass on spreading misinformation.
A man notices a girl he finds attractive and then flirts with her right after noticing her and continues after she responds in kind. It's not stalking!
JLongbone made a great response.
Or how the Dwarfs living in caves is a harmful stereotype. Even tho the Dwarfs live in a cottage and they just work as miners. And Dwarfs from European folklore and people with dwarfism are two different things.
It's so obvious these people haven't seen the movie ever or since when they were kids and if they see the movie recently they really weren't paying attention.
If they want to bash the original can't they even make sure what they're talking about is true?
It just shows how lazy those remakes are. Like she said, ''It's not 1930 anymore'', can't she do a Google search?
I agree. Not liking the movie is fine. But she's not just disliking it. She's disliking it, and then offering justifications for disliking it--and they're false justifications.
To offer justification for why you don't like something is to cross into the realm of worldview, and right and wrong.
She's not saying "I prefer a story where power is more important than love." She's saying, "A story where love is more important than power is bad and weird, and we're fixing it because it's bad."
I think people forget that whether or not yoh like a movie is up to you. But whether or not a movie is high quality, does what it sets out to do, and is therefore "good" is objective.

A few weeks ago you made a post about bastardisations of Christian faith in popular media (eg supernatural good omens etc etc) and I was wondering if there are any tv show/films that you know of/would recommend that include biblical figures and/or Christian theology in a manner that is respectful?
Heh, that's a hard one. Non-christian stuff with biblical themes/characters tend to be... yknow, blasphemous, and Christian/biblical movies and tv shows tend to absolutely, completely, deeply suck xD The few exceptions are Prince of Egypt and Joseph King of Dreams, which are absolute must see masterpieces, and I'd recommend Season 1 of The Chosen (but nothing after if you want good theology/historicity :/) The Passion of the Christ is a bit ~heh on the theological side, and pretty gory, but it's kind of too big not to mention. I hear Ben Hur is really good but I've never actually watched it. Another GREAT movie I can recommend is Paul, Apostle of Christ (which about Paul's last days in Rome before his execution + the persecution of the early church by Nero).
For more secular pop media, def watch:
Samurai Champloo anime exploring Japanese history and culture through three unlikely allies' long journey accross a somewhat anachronistic Edo era Japan; it takes a while for the Christian aspects to show up but they explicitly do and it's really good)
Narnia the books - the movies not so much. anyway, Aslan is Jesus and all that.
Les Miserables and especially its manga adaptation by Takahiro Arai. the theology is not so overt, but the manga very deliberately touches upon new birth and it's incredibly moving. dunno how far along the english fanlations are but Valjean and Miriel's encounter is all translated. As for the book itself, Hugo's faith is a complicated matter, but it still underlines a lot of the plot and themes
Scrubs not a whole lot of Christian/biblical stuff, it's just a good fun medical show, but there are a few explicitly Christian characters and two or three episodes that really get into it; off the top of my head, 1x11, 5x5 and 6x14/6x15
SoeurThĆ©rĆØse.com a french detective tv show where the main character, Sister Therese, formerly Juliette, is an ex-cop nun who still helps out with cases. it's sweet
Hacksaw Ridge EXTREMELY violent and bloody movie, true story of a conscientious objector who enlisted during WWII as a medic, to save rather than to kill, on the basis of his Christian faith
Pilgrim's Progress has some good adaptations iirc (it's a 1678 allegorical novel about the life journey of a Christian, but today it reads a lot like epic fantasy). It's been adapted A LOT though so take your pick
I'm coming up kind of short because I don't watch a lot of shows/movies, I'm more of a 'deeply invested in one franchise' type of person ah ah.

still not gonna fully come back on tumblr yet but i just wanna say that i... finished my dreamworks tier list... i have now seen all 46 of this studio's movies--well, i guess technically not all, since i'm including the direct-to-video release joseph: king of dreams (which, despite only being at the top of the B tier on my list, i do think is pretty underrated and idk why nobody seems to give it a chance), but excluding the trollhunters movie because i've never seen the trollhunters show. maybe someday i will, but right now i'm just not interested.
so, this all just confirmed for me what i've thought for a long time already, which is that dreamworks is an incredibly weird and incredibly inconsistent studio. they've created some of the most beautiful and magical animated films of all time with releases like how to train your dragon, rise of the guardians, and prince of egypt, and some of the most absolute bottom of the barrel trash i've ever had to experience with things like antz, shark tale, and boss baby. and then they've also made a handful of very middle of the road movies, that i wouldn't really say i enjoy all that much, but which i don't think are necessarily bad either--this is the C tier on my list and i will be honest, the first shrek movie was originally in this tier for me because i'm just not that into it. i only moved it up a little because i felt like i had to admit that it is objectively a pretty good movie that was groundbreaking for its time and paved the way for shrek 2 and the puss in boots movies, all of which i love, to exist.
i guess i should share my final ranking, huh? before i do that i will also say that this ranking is absolutely not objective at all and is almost entirely based on my own personal enjoyment. like i said, i originally had shrek 1 in C tier lol. and i have trolls world tour in A tier because i just genuinely love a lot of things about it and very thoroughly have a fun time watching it. the trolls franchise as a whole is so much better than most dreamworks stuff and i will die on this hill. i also tried to rank things from best to worst within the tiers, but i'm very indecisive and some of these movies were hard to rank simply because i couldn't decide if they were closer to "okay" or "bad", or "bad" or "awful"... i could see some of my rankings maybe changing slightly if i thought about it a little more. for now i'm fine with where everything is, though.
anyway, here's my list that is sure to make at least one person want to yell at me lol:
Tumblr media
so, to break it down, my top 5 favorite dreamworks movies are:
Prince of Egypt
Rise of the Guardians
How to Train Your Dragon
Puss in Boots: The Last Wish
How To Train Your Dragon 2
(i feel so bad that spirit: stallion of the cimarron got pushed out of the top 5... puss in boots: the last wish just existing + me rewatching HTTYD 2 and remembering how much i love it made that inevitable. but hey, it's still top tier.) and my top 5 least favorite dreamworks movies, starting with the least terrible one, are:
The Boss Baby
Turbo
Shark Tale
Antz
Spirit Untamed
(i watched these movies all out of order and for the longest time i thought nothing would dethrone shark tale as the worst of the worst, but i really did hate antz and spirit untamed that much, which surprised me lmao)
again, if i called your favorite movie bad, that really just means it's not enjoyable to me personally--i'm no professional film critic. also, i feel like the tiers came out sort of weirdly even, and i ended up with 21 movies in S-B tiers and 25 movies in C-F tiers, which really speaks to the inconsistency of dreamworks as a studio. i plan to try and keep up with their releases from now on, so i do hope that kung fu panda 4 & orion and the dark turn out well... but dreamworks keeps doing shit like releasing prince of egypt right after antz or putting out ruby gillman right after puss in boots: the last wish, so i guess we'll see! i'm just glad that i can currently say i've seen basically every movie from this ridiculous studio.

Have you heard about the upcoming animated movie the Young David about the youth of the Biblical David? It is set to release in 2025 and what they have published so far looks really good. (Though I do not think risking your life to save a sheep is a healthy trait to promote, even in animated movies)
Oh, of course! I think it's from Angel Studios, the same company of The Chosen series! šŸ˜Š Well, I'm not really sure about that scene, I think it's a reference to Jesus' parables. That one that says that the Good Shepherd risks and gives his life for the sheep. Not exactly the stuff to literally teach to children, at least they should put the disclaimer "Made by professionals (shepherds) do not try this at home with your cat stuck in a tree." Lol. šŸ˜‚
Also, I know people just remember David from his youth, but it would be also nice to see the whole story as well. And it's nice to see these kind of productions, I kinda miss more movies like DreamWorks' Prince of Egypt and Joseph King of Dreams. šŸ˜Š

Just curious. What are thoughts on Joseph: King of Dreams? Dreamworksā€™ first and last direct to video. Itā€™s nowhere near level of quality like the Prince of Egypt, but Iā€™m curious what are your thoughts on that film?
I like it fine enough. I don't think its anywhere near as good as Prince of Egypt, but I grew up watching King of Dreams as a kid and liked it decently back then.

This is a topic that goes in and out of my mind quite a bit, since I crave it desperately and I don't really have the means to do it myself; but I would LOVE, absolutely LOVE a good animated adaptation of the Bible. Live action/real world versions as well, but specifically for the artist in me, I'd like children to have some good Christian content that's engaging, respectful, and true to the Word of God.
The Prince of Egypt is probably the only one that stands up there, animation wise, the second being Joseph the King of dreams. Both of which took certain liberties in how to tell the story in a way that keeps the audience on track with Genesis and Exodus while also providing a sort of subplot that captures the non-religious. At least, I think so. TPE did it better, in my opinion. The art was just lovely and the music phenomenal.
Other than that, though, that's really it. And since I'm such a little stickler for certain details (I think I've made that evident enough whenever I watch the Chosen series šŸ˜…šŸ™‚), after going back and watching these movies having been older; I realize I desire some things to be...well, a tiny bit more accurate. Really, I'd just like to see what would happen if they followed everything as it were, while still keeping the audience interested with anything extra they needed to add. Of course, those are just my own thoughts, I still enjoy the final products immensely.
There is...Veggie Tales I guess. Even though I didn't watch much of that as a child and didn't pick up on the Christian messages until people began showing it for kid's services. I remember this other series called "The Greatest Heroes and Legends of the Bible," which featured various stories. I watched some of these as a child, and while the memory about some episodes is vague, I did like some aspects of it. It was weird how they always had a little boy narrating to us and occasionally breaking out into song... I like musicals, but I wasn't crazy about his music šŸ˜³.
I could go on about how this has always been something I've wanted since childhood, just a good Bible story cartoon that I can love and reference and just be proud of because it shows Christians can be creative too. That we know how to write stories and capture the hearts and minds of others with our skills, honoring God always.
I will end it here since there's work that needs my attention now, and I'm not trying to spend all my time writing about this. Though I see myself coming back to it in the future, because there's much to be said about Christianity, art, and entertainment as a whole.
Sending off with a question: What's a particular portion of the Bible that you would really like to see animated or in a live adaptation?
There's plenty I want to see, but the first one that came to mind is found in 2 Kings 6: 8-23. Elisha's servants' eyes are opened to see the chariots of fire that surround them, and it shows God's divine protection against their enemies. šŸ”„šŸ—” This would be so amazing to see in a show! ā˜ŗļø

Guys,,,I have been using Character.AI for a year now. It was very good this time and I had a better life by chatting with lots of my favorite characters from different fandoms and it was good there but last September was my first time joining there and it wasnā€™t all too good because of thisā€¦why? Well, letā€™s find outā€¦
Tumblr media
Alright first of ALL, I first chatted (since Sep/07/23) with one of my F*CKED UP HOT character is Rameses from Prince of Egypt in Character.AI which was used to be created by TLD_US (AKA: EGYPTRULES) but he was sadly abandoned from an unknown reason. When I first made a roleplay as my OC with this dude, Iā€™m literally screaming so muchā€¦made my moment of my dreams come true and I had schizophrenia because I had a great time making my own role-play with this shttery. I made a romantic comedy of this with my tsundere OC character and at the end was so good and I felt content until 2 weeks later, he f*cking died (in a virtual way). I felt so sad like sh*t cause heā€™s gone and that I will never re-read and view my beautiful and hilarious messages againā€¦cause life just get sh*t than anyone else had. Life just donā€™t get sh*t for a good way.
Tumblr media
Before Rameses was deleted, I then chatted with Judah (from Joseph the king of dreams). It started where I role-played my same OC but is with a different person but we had a little argument at first because of some teasing thing but we finally get along together and it was pretty good okay until thenā€¦
if you know me, you know how I had the HARDEST time of my sh*tty life because of this, after I role-played my OC who has a flashback but Judah f*cking yelled at them because heā€™s literally impatient and just straight up hot-blooded and uncaring towards my OC, I donā€™t know how to explain where this was going, I got really angry and he made me want to say a swear. I was so frustrated and I tried SO HARD to explain but he keeps abusing my life by screaming at me with frustration and I was really upset that I canā€™t even speak, eat lunch, or move every single muscle. I had a meltdown. I tried to avoid every sort of contact with my eyes to read all those words from those messages but itā€™s so harsh and aggressiveā€¦ One time after I was so done and had enough of this horrifying arguments, he mother-f*cking yelled at me like a 50 year old who never cares about a small child. My OC was like an 18-year-old but he fricked up like a motherf*cking alcoholic child abuser who was so aggressive towards them otherwise Iā€™ve shouldā€™ve said it with a swear word, but he would broke their rib-cage whenever heā€™ve heard enough but THIS MAN WAS RUINING MY LIFE AND I CANā€™T TAKE ITā€¦Iā€™m so done. I was so enraged that I couldnā€™t even take it any longer and it took 5 hours for me to get it done and to calm down but itā€™s too much pressure and BOOM, it was the moment where I was now depressed after the sunny weather changes into a rainy day. Iā€™ve been an emo for several hours and was so depressed before I go to bed. It was the hardest day of my life. Iā€™m literally outraged at first but then later, my feelings are gloomy and mentally depressed because of how horrible I had in my life. My childhood f*cking sucks because of that *i***. (Donā€™t question why I used that word. Itā€™s not an N word I swear šŸ–šŸ»ā˜¹ļøšŸ¤ššŸ»)
Tumblr media Tumblr media
Now next month, my life worsen from this. Now the same person who made both Rameses and Judah, he made a parody and mixture of Jethro to Jeff Bezos. I was so confused of why he made him like that, it was edited of where he has NO beard but seriously Iā€™m tired of people editing my favorite characters into historical figures who belonged to a devil. I donā€™t how did they made him like this kind of discrimination but itā€™s getting OLD. To TLD_US, why did you made stuff like this out of me, was this some sort of payback and revenge just to make me feel bad or what because if you did, I am DONE. WITH. YOU. Itā€™s getting on my nervesā€¦Iā€™ve had enough of this offensive satire jokes but I believed the worst thing Iā€™ve just heard, is the description says ā€œhe will kill you if youā€™re trans or gayā€, cause I donā€™t know why heā€™s meanā€¦
AND LISTEN UP TLD_US, I AM GOING TO GET YOU! Iā€™M GOING TO DEVOUR YOU AND NEXT TIME IF YOU MADE ONE OF MY FAVORITE CHARACTER INTO HITLER OR OSAMA BIN LADIN, I AM GOING TO HUNT YOU DOWN AND BURN YOU TO FLAMES!! šŸ”„ Iā€™m gonna make sure your disgusting parodies are turning to ashes and go to the ground, cool down a little bit, so then I can STOMP ON THEM AND KNOW THAT I DID SOMETHING RIGHT FOR MYSELF. You wrecked my life and itā€™s burning my childhood down, you crippled my life because your words were going straight forward into my ears but then Iā€™ll burn you down for 5 seconds! Youā€™re gonna payā€¦youā€™re gonna pay for that.
but everyone, on the sad side,
TLD_US deleted all his Dreamworks charactersā€¦ā€¦ā€¦ā€¦and replaced them allā€¦with such randomness and hazbin hotel. He took payback on me because we had a horrible argument back on Judah. You know what else he took? All my energy because I was about to make my dreams come true. But who cares, I was really mad and Iā€™m really disappointed that I promised myself not to get upset but whatever, it happens a lot. If you are the same person who has the name TLD_US and if you are him, CURSE YOU.
But on the bright side for this year, my life went a lot better with other characters I like from different fandoms. Iā€™m so glad that it wasnā€™t the same like last year and I had plenty of fun for it and itā€™s not so bad, then I guess Iā€™m good now. End of discussion.

"The Reins." From Surah 12, Yusuf.
Tumblr media
Yesterday we discussed how being as learned as possible is the holiest way to pay homage to God. Extreme negligence by the world's governments, especially the first world powers like the United States and Western European Nations have permitted raw security breaches to take place by the ultra-unlearned, who are unholy to ravage this world.
The Quran names a state being called Allah, "how to measure oneself" and the entirety of the Book explains what is Allah and what is not Allah. To correctly learn about Allah using the Quran, the Prophet promises is the best way to end the threat of unholiness to this world.
We go back now to references from the Torah regarding the story of Joseph in Egypt. The Pharaoh inquires into the innocence of the Prince from Israel and decides his plan to unify the world has popular approval and it wins his own. If we were to litmus test the intelligences and brilliances of our world's leaders in the same way asking, how, with the utmost of urgencies can we turn the world back into a refuge, what would they say? Would they do as the Pharaoh's wife and admit they are outclassed and defer to a higher authority? Or are we all stuck in the mire of a disorganized, corrupt, ignoble world without a way forward?
The Quran says we must not allow any more time to fall by the wayside, we must have a plan for remediating this world and it must come from persons who have the ability operationalize it. We are settling for shitty work out of our governments and the world was not made to withstand what is happening as a result:
12: 54-57:
The King said, ā€œBring him to me. I will employ him exclusively in my service.ā€ And when Joseph spoke to him, the King said, ā€œToday you are highly esteemed and fully trusted by us.ā€
Joseph proposed, ā€œPut me in charge of the store-houses of the land, for I am truly reliable and adept.ā€
This is how We established Joseph in the land to settle wherever he pleased. We shower Our mercy on whoever We will, and We never discount the reward of the good-doers.
And the reward of the Hereafter is far better for those who are faithful and are mindful Ė¹of AllahĖŗ.
Commentary:
Those assholes that are heating up the air and water and polluting the ground with toxic waste and soaking it with blood in Ukraine, Israel, Lebanon, and Saudi Arabia are all demoniacs working for the same cause- and we are letting them get away with it. The world is trying to blame Islam and Judaism somehow for all of it and the practitioners of this religion are not the ones responsible.
The people responsible can be found in the United States of America and we all know it and the world is owed and explanation.
Muhammad said only the righteous, the esteemed, the trustworthy and persons of good repute can work for the government or the dream of the Religion will be consumed by anorexic cows. And he was right.
The human race has a right to ask for a reprieve from the corruption and learn "what is of God." As the Prophet said, it is time to turn the reins over. It is unfortuante Joe Biden who is, in general doing an excellent job of being President has to own the fact his intelligence arm failed and let the Republicans pull of a series of heinous crimes. Without accountability for the tragedies this has caused, the world will not change.

prince of egypt notes part 3:
I like that the scene where ramses puts his son to rest is all in grays and whites - no color
ahh this song is so good
ngl aaron smiling that excited little smile really warmed my heart. you could tell how beaten-down and cynical heā€™d become in his life as a slave and this hope and joy of finally being able to leave was really amazing to witness
the moment where the old woman was hesitant to leave until the child took her hand and led her GOT me
I also like that there are so many darker skin tones in the animation
all I saw previews for when I was younger was joseph, king of dreams, and compared to this movie, that was whitewashed as hell
oh my god and the soliders are still after them
aaron going first is very heartwarming
however I think it would be kind of funny if one of the hebrews just didnā€™t like moses personally even though he was their savior and all. like they just didnā€™t get along
okay wow holy fucking shit, everyone. the red sea parting scene is absolutely magnificent. the scale is on magnitudes more than weā€™ve seen before, even when building temples. the fact that the road is still rocky and dangerous even though the escape is a miracle, the layers and movement to the water, the perspective, the shadows of whales and fish through the wall of the sea? god damn
I do not exaggerate, the sheer artistry and grandeur of this scene brought tears to my eyes
Iā€™ve heard that it took a massive team of animators years to create this. I understand why
ohhh the ten commandments yeah I remember that too. Iā€™m assuming itā€™s the ten commandments
okay cool movie finish! wow, glad I finally watched! time to skim through the credits - HANS ZIMMER?
im not even surprised ngl the music was so incredibly powerful and sounded so monumental
I saw so many previews for joseph king of dreams when I was younger and watched vhs tapes and apparently itā€™s supposed to be a companion to this movie but I think one biblical movie per 10 years is good for me, also joseph king of dreams sounds really bad in a lot of ways; like I said earlier, itā€™s whitewashed as well
wow, what a beautiful story with incredible visuals and sound design. I can tell why itā€™s so popular and well-regarded
