Then came a knock at the door, followed by a collective groan, loud and annoyed, “I swear by the moon, that you will tell us your little secret” Johnny said, as he walked to the door opening it a crack. You smiled, glad for the interruption not wishing to be isolated so soon, not sure if you could take another pack icing you out, you had hardly had any time to enjoy having a pack before you were iced out. Your nose twitched at the smell of another alpha, the hair on your skin rising and your skin prickling, when you heard the offending alpha’s voice “I want your superior officer” the voice said, as the intruding alpha pushed the door, forcing his energy into your space without ever stepping foot inside, it both pissed you off and frightened you. John tensed as he turned his head to the offending Alpha, “Why? They haven’t done anything, it was your man who stepped out of line, Captain Wells” he said, as he slowly crept his way in front of you, shielding you from the Alpha’s view. “The little breeder hurt one of my men” Captain Wells gritted out, you cringed when he called you a breeder, the word sounding like venom to your ears. “They only defended themselves, they have every right to do so since the OFARC was introduced in 2006,” John said, as he casually crossed his arms, trying to make himself appear larger. Captain Wells growled, “Not on Military ground, we have rules stat-” he cut off by Gaz “ORO, subsection D paragraph 2 Line three ORO allows Omegas to assert their autonomy against unwanted Alpha interactions, ensuring their safety and dignity. And encourages them to defend themselves from aggression or coercion” He says, not looking at the Alpha only at you his eyes scanning over your body. You like Gaz, he was a sweet alpha, a kind alpha, and he knew to check in on you in situations like this, to make sure you were ok, the growl from Captain Wells snapped you back to the danger you were in. “We have rules for a reason, so mutts like that don’t get in between us” Captain Wells spits, as he takes a step into the room, the resounding growl he received was deafening, as you pulled away from the sound that seemed to be coming from the very walls you leaned against.

John raised his hand into the air before closing it into a tight fist, you could hear him grit his teeth in anger as he spoke “This is an omega sanctuary why are you trying to get inside” he said half growling, you peaked over his burly body to look at Captain Wells, his left being the only one inside you little barrack, your little den. “Omega’s don’t aren’t rewarded with sanctuary, especially little shits like them who think it’s ok to hurt those purer than them,” he said as he lunged for you. You were faster, lunging for him as you used your pitiful body weight against his far larger and far stronger one, it wasn’t the best fight, with you pinned under him, doing your damndest to reign in several punches, your NBOC training kicking in, as you block the majority of his punches. You hear, arguing and growls, while you give as good as you get, it wasn’t long until you heard more arguing and more growls, and the sound of flesh hitting flesh, a sound you didn’t want to hear again not at least for some time came crashing into your ears. You managed to find your way on top of Captain Wells, giving you a chance to see two other Alphas in your space one had Alejandro pinned to a wall while Simon was trying to pull him off, and John was pinned to the wall the intruding Alpha’s back to his chest while Johnny and Gaz took turns punching him, you gasped as Captain Wells had grasped your throat in his tight grip squeezing it. You panic from the sudden loss of air, your hands reaching up and clawing at his hand instead, trying to pry his fingers off your throat you try and produce a growl, a whine something anything, that would get your teammate's attention but Captain Wells was squeezing too hard. He brought you close to his face, “Now lookie here if the big tough omega, isn’t reduced to snivelling, snotting bitch” he spat, in your haze of panic you claw his face, he yelled as he let go, allowing you the chance to scramble backwards, your hand grasped your throat, it now marked from his grip. You slide away from him, finding a spot under one of the beds sliding under it, you hear a growl and then a body hitting a wall before it slides down, you watch their legs and boots, and you yelp when a hand grabs your hair dragging you from under the bed. You twist in their grasp your hands trying to find purchase on something, hell you’d take a pillow if it meant putting distance between you and your attacker, Captain Wells growled as he pulled you up to his face level. “Pathetic, really the MI5 sent you here” He growled as he punched you, your head not giving much room to reel back from his hit.

It wasn’t long before he dragged you further along the floor as you scrambled to scratch him, he laughed as he moved towards the door, “Drop them James” John growled as he threw the younger Alpha to the floor. “Why? They’re pathetic, weak even” he said shaking you as you clawed at his hand, “Drop them, James, I won’t ask again” John said, as he stood standing between you and the door.

Captain Wells, growls and grits his teeth as he shakes you again for a final time before he throws to John’s feet, “I don’t get why we breed with such mutts” he says as he gives you a final kick to the stomach. As he steps over you laughing at the grunt you made, John grabs Captain Wells, hauling him over you completely, bringing him close to his face, “Listen here James, they didn’t do shit wrong, they defended themselves from shitbags like you” he grunted as he threw Captain Wells out. Followed by Captain Wells's two henchmen, the curtsey of Simon and Gaz, John huffed as he turned to you eyeing where you lay on the floor.

FLASH REPORT THIS MORNING: Calambanon Radio Announcer 'DJ Johnny Walker' gunned down from an Unnamed Suspect during an Online TeleRadyo Broadcast of Gold FM (updated as final!!!)

(with reports from 106.1mhz's FMR Babe Radio: Dipolog and DWPM-AM's Radyo 630: Manila)

CALAMBA, MISAMIS OCCIDENTAL -- In a shocking and tragic incident that is recently unfolded in the morning on Sunday (November 5th, 2023 – Calamba local time)… Juan Jerrebel Anggoy Jumalon, popularly known as “DJ Johnny Walker”, a 57 y/o part-time hard-hitting local radio announcer and Disc Jockey [born on August 2nd, 1966], morning radio host and on-board provincial station manager of 94.7mhz’s Gold FM: Calamba was shot dead inside on his own home radio booth at Purok 2, Brgy. Don Bernardo A. Neri, Calamba, Misamis Occidental during an exclusive Facebook live video broadcast of his local morning radio program 'Pahapyod sa Kabuntagon’ (Early Morning). This devastating event has sent shockwaves throughout the local Calambanon community and the radio broadcasting industry in Misamis Occidental.

DJ Johnny Walker, a beloved not-so-fictional figure in the local radio scene, was a prominent personality on 94.7 Gold FM: Calamba. His real name “Juan Jerrebel Anggoy Jumalon”, was known to very few as he went by his radio alias, which had become synonymous with the morning airwaves. More than several years or decades of experience in radio broadcasting, Mr. Jumalon had become an integral part of the local community, providing entertainment, information and a sense of connection to his listeners each day.

94.7 Gold FM: Calamba is an affiliated local FM radio station of the Kalayaan Broadcasting System Inc. (KBSi), and DJ Johnny Walker played a pivotal role in its success. His morning radio program, 'Pahapyod sa Kabuntagon’ was not only known for its entertaining content but also for its community engagement, discussing local & regional issues in Misamis Occidental, and bringing the community together through various interactive segments. This made Mr. Jumalon, a cherished figure among his listeners and colleagues.

In 2014, his personal broadcasting setup of the aforesaid local FM radio station within a decade before the male suspect gunned down to Mr. Jumalon during an exclusive televised interview of DXTE-TV 8's TV5: Cagayan de Oro for News 5. In his personal health reasons back then, Mr. Jumalon was part of the Persons with Disabilities (PWD). Several years later aside from murder case, local and regional issues to be followed when discussing land and business all across the Misamis Occidental area as a motive.

Per the exclusive spot report as obtained by 106.1mhz’s Favorite Music Radio: Babe Radio Dipolog and the selected KBP-member stations in Misamis Occidental, in cooperation with DWPM-AM’s Radyo 630: Manila, when the tragic incident took place during the said LIVE Facebook video broadcast of 'Pahapyod sa Kabuntagon’ around 5:35am on that fateful Black Sunday. This was the world's first online horrific, TeleRadyo-like broadcasting history in Southern Mindanao.

Outside the CCTV video as mentioned, another suspect to be illegally trespassed, who were pretending in disguise as a local listener for a potential public service without a security guard on-duty.

Within the final moments develop, the unnamed male suspect who remains at large and carries a firearm of caliber .45 pistol, disrupted the live FM radio program and shot twice to Mr. Jumalon (even in audible transistor radio simulcast in general), leading to his untimely demise by shooting his lower lip towards his back portion head, then stealing a gold jewelry worth PHP150,000 (U$D2,682.45), and quickly fled off the scene shortly after. Overall, two or three suspects have yet to be later identified on national internet TV. The aforesaid live video on the radio station’s Facebook page on 94.7 Gold FM: Calamba, captured the horrifying event as it unfolded, leaving online viewers in shock and disbelief.

As we gather a lot of information and investigate the circumstances surrounding this tragic event, there is an outpouring of support and condolences from the listeners, avid fans, friends and colleagues of Mr. Jumalon on various disclosed social media platforms. The incident has prompted discussions about the safety of media professionals, particularly in the realm of live radio broadcasting and online media.

Local authorities in Misamis Occidental have embarked on a detailed probe, and the motive is suspected to be a work-related situation. He was now confirmed dead on arrivial (DOA) from a physician doctor named Dr. Geopeter L. Manisan at Calamba District Hospital (CDH) in National Highway, the said city.

A hot pursuit operation of the Calamba Municipal Police Station (CMPS) is on its way, in relation to a brutal murder suspect from an unidentified gun man.

The untimely demise of “DJ Johnny Walker” is a profound loss to the local radio industry and the community he served for several years or decades. His legacy as a passionate radio personality who connected with his audience on a personal level will be remembered and cherished on him. He is one of the 199th journalists killed since 1986 until the present, which includes Central Visayas, Eastern Visayas, Dumaguete City, Mabinay and Negros Oriental, as according to the National Union of Journalists of the Philippines (NUJP).

As the investigation unfolds from the Calamba-Philippine National Police, the community and his fellow broadcasters mourn the loss of a beloved figure and await justice throughout the weekend for this heinous act.

EDITOR's NOTE (as of November 7th, 2023): We edited out for clarification from our previous update, as we all learned from our media friends at Radyo 630: Manila and other KBP-member FM, AM and TV stations in Mindanao to come up with a conclusion.

Week 5-6 of Interviewing Different Businesses

Me and my groupmates, Angel Jean Obsioma, Ian Gariel B. Ramas, and Francen P. Sellote, roam around the city to look for businesses that we can go to and ask the business owner or staff if we can ask a few questions regarding their business, so that we can gain knowledge and in-depth understanding about how business works, and we also asked permission if it is okay to take a picture.

Here is the list of the businesses we interviewed and the key information we gathered for week 5-6.

1. Johnny's Auto Parts

Johnny's Auto Parts is a car spare parts seller that is owned by Mr. Johnny Ibala which established in the year 2004. This business is solely owned by Mr. Johnny. It located at Vamenta Boulevard, Cagayan de Oro City. They consist of seven staff and their operating hours from 8:00 A.M. to 5 P.M., Monday through Saturday.

For compliance with the legal documents, the business is DTI and BIR registered. It is a DTI registered since it is just owned by Mr. Johnny. They also have barangay clearance and a business permit, ensuring that the business is legally compliant and can legally operate.

2. Royal Glass Supply

Royal Glass Supply was established in the year 2005, owned by Sherwin Lo, and located at Cruz Taal Street Corner, Rizal St. Cagayan de Oro City. They offer glasses, aluminum, and accessories for glasses, and they do home service for installations and also caters walk-in customers. They have a total of 13 staff that will cater the customers, and operating hours from 8:00 A.M. to 5:00 P.M, Monday through Saturday. And they get their supplies from Cebu and Manila.

As for their legal documents, the business is a DTI and BIR registered. Since it is a sole proprietorship, it is a BIR registered. Additionally, the business has a business permit and a Notice to Issue Receipt/Invoice, which ensures that the business maintains proper records and gives the customers their proof of transaction. And these are the legal documents for them to be able to operate their business.

3. Tech-Converge I.T. Solutions

Tech-Converge I.T. Solutions offers IT products, repair devices, and doing home services, like the installation of CCTV. It is owned by Ms. Mae Catherine Nadal and established a physical store recently, last year, in 2023, in Room 105 De Leon Bldg. Yacapin-Velez, Cagayan de Oro City. Operating hours are from 8:30 A.M. to 5:30 P.M., Monday through Saturday. 

The business has the documents to be able to operate. It is DTI registered, and since it is solely owned by Ms. Mae, it is also a BIR registered. They also have a business permit, sanitary permit, and fire safety inspection certificate, ensuring that the business premises are safe for both the employees and customers. And they also have Notice to Issue Receipt/Invoice, ensuring that the business has proper records and give the customers their proof of transaction.

4. Honyun Computer Store

Honyun Computer Store offers laptops, computer sets, and accessories, and these are surplus items. It is owned by Ms. Cathlea May G. Pontiano and established just this year, in July, and it is located at Brgy. 08 Jr. Borja, Don Apolinar Velez St., Cagayan de Oro City. They have four staff, two salespeople, and two technicians, and they operate from 9:00 A.M. to 6:00 P.M., Monday through Saturday. And they also shared with us that their supplies are from Manila.

The business is a DTI and BIR registered. Additionally, they also have a barangay clearance, business permit, sanitary permit, and Notice to Issue Receipt/Invoice. These documents and permits are the key for Ms. Cathlea to build and operate this business.

5. NWOW Electric Bicycle

NWOW Electric Bicycle offers E-bikes. It is owned by Ms. Jessica Seda, and the one that is located at J.R. Borja, Capistrano St., Cagayan de Oro City was established in the year 2019. They have six staff, and their operating hours are from 8:00 A.M. to 5:00 P.M., everyday. 

As for their business to operate and offer their products, NWOW ELectric Bicycle is a DTI registered. It also has barangay clearance, a sanitary permit, and a fire safety inspection certificate. Additionally, they have Notice to Issue Receipt/Invoice to ensure that they have proper records and give the customers their proof of transaction.

THIRD PART OF BUSINESS INTERVIEWS

Last October 4, Jessa, Francen, Angel, and I conducted the third part of our interviews with five business owners, each with a different type of business. Before starting the interviews, we asked for their permission to take video or audio recordings for documentation purposes. We prepared a set of questions for them to answer, focusing on their businesses. ----------------------------------------------------

1. JOHNNY'S AUTO PARTS

The first interview is with Johnny's Auto Parts, a business established in 2004 and owned by Mr. Johnny Ibala. It is located on Vamenta Blvd, Cagayan de Oro, and specializes in selling car spare parts. This business is solely owned by Mr. Ibala and is registered under the DTI. They do not have any existing partnerships. Their operating hours are from 8 am to 5 pm, Monday to Saturday.

Regarding legal documents, they have acquired the necessary permits for business operation, including a business permit, DTI registration, and BIR clearance. The business was started because of Mr. Ibala's knowledge of the industry, as his previous work experience was also in this field.

2. ROYAL GLASS SUPPLY

Royal Glass Supply is owned by Sherwin Lo and was established in 2005. It is a business that sells glass, aluminum, and accessories, located at Cruz Taal - Rizal Street, Cagayan de Oro. The business is solely owned by Mr. Sherwin Lo. Before it became Royal Glass Supply, it was originally called Tay Chin Glass Store, established in 1965 by Mr. Sherwin's grandfather. As the name suggests, Tech-Converge IT Solutions sells IT products and also provides repair services and home service installations. The store is open from 8 30 AM to 5 30 PM, Monday to Saturday. They have two branches, with the other one located in Opol. Regarding legal documents, the owner has acquired all necessary permits for the business to operate, including the business permit, DTI registration, and sanitary permit. One issue the business occasionally faces is customer complaints about delayed services. Currently, there are no plans to expand, but they are hopeful for future growth.

4. HONYUN COMPUTER STORE

Hunyon Computer Store is owned by Ma'am Kathlea and operates as a sole proprietorship under DTI. The business was established in July 2024 and is located at Brgy 08 Jr Borja, Don Apolinar Velez St., Cagayan de Oro City. We interviewed Ms. Shella Mae Tobito, who serves in an all-around role in the store, and she provided details about the business. Hunyon Computer Store sells IT products, surplus items, laptops, and accessories. They have four staff members - one guard, two salespeople, and two technicians. The store currently has only one branch and operates from 9 AM to 6 PM, Monday to Saturday. Regarding legal documents, the business has acquired all the necessary permits for operation, including a business permit, DTI registration, receipt invoices, and a BIR certification. They source their supplies from Manila. One challenge the business sometimes faces is gaining customer trust, as they sell second-hand devices, and the functionality of these devices may not always be perfect.

Week 5-6: Business Interview 👩‍💻

Hello everyone, I'm back again with more insights and information about various companies and businesses. My groupmates—Jessa, Ian, Francen—and I had the opportunity to interview another five different businesses: JOHNNY`S AUTO PARTS, ROYAL GLASS SUPPLY, TECH-CONVERGE IT SOLUTIONS, HONYUN COMPUTER STORE and NWOW ELECTRIC BICYCLE. During these interviews, we gathered valuable insights into their operations and the stories behind how each business was established.

JOHNNY`S AUTO PARTS

Johnny’s Auto Parts, owned by Mr. Johnny Ibala and established in 2004, is located on Vamenta Blvd, Cagayan de Oro. The business operates independently without any existing partnerships. They employ seven staff members and focus solely on selling car spare parts, without offering any repair services. Their operating hours are from 8 AM to 5 PM, Monday through Saturday.

In terms of business setup, they have secured all necessary documents, including a business permit, DTI registration, BIR clearance, and other required paperwork for legal operation. The owner also carefully considered the business location. Johnny’s expertise in the auto parts industry and knowledge of running such a business served as the inspiration behind starting this venture.

ROYAL GLASS SUPPLY

Royal Glass Supply, owned by Mr. Sherwin Lo and established in 2005, is located at the corner of Cruz Taal Street and Rizal Street, Cagayan de Oro. According to the manager, Ms. Emilou Tumilap, the business has a rich history spanning three generations. It began as Tay Chin Glass, established in 1965, later rebranded to Golden Glass, before evolving into its current name, Royal Glass Supply. The family-owned business operates as a sole proprietorship and employs 13 staff members.

Specializing in glass, aluminum, and accessories, Royal Glass Supply caters to both walk-in customers and those seeking home service installations. They source their supplies from Cebu and Manila, and operate from 8 AM to 5 PM, Monday through Saturday. The business has secured all the necessary permits, including a business permit, DTI registration, Certificate of Registration from BIR, and other relevant documents such as receipts and invoices. TECH-CONVERGE IT SOLUTIONS

To ensure smooth operations, the company has secured all the necessary documents, such as a business permit, DTI registration, receipts/invoices, a sanitary permit, a PhilHealth certificate, and a fire safety inspection certificate. These steps have enabled Tech-Converge to remain compliant with local regulations and provide reliable IT services to its customers.

HONYUN COMPUTER STORE

During an interview with Ms. Shella Mae Tobito, who describes herself as an all-around staff member, she shared insights about the business operations.

Honyun Computer Store specializes in selling surplus items such as laptops, computer sets, and accessories. They offer repair services only for units purchased from their store. The business sources its supplies from Manila and has secured all necessary documents, including a business permit, DTI registration, receipts/invoices, BIR clearance, barangay clearance, and a sanitary permit. Ms. Tobito mentioned that their location is advantageous due to the limited competition and good foot traffic in the area. The business operates on a cash or GCash basis, with no installment options available.

NWOW ELECTRIC BICYCLE

NWOW Electric Bicycle, owned by Ms. Jesica Seda, was established in 2019 and is located at J.R. Borja, Capistrano St., Cagayan de Oro City. The business specializes in selling E-bikes and operates from 8 a.m. to 5 p.m., Monday through Saturday, with a team of six staff members.

The business is registered with the DTI and holds a sanitary permit, barangay clearance, and a fire safety inspection certificate. They also have a notice to issue receipts/invoices to ensure proper documentation of purchases. This allows both the seller and the customer to keep a record of transactions, facilitating easy verification if any issues arise.

Johnny Pacheco, fue músico, compositor, arreglista, director, productor, y creador de la banda esencial Fania All Stars y el sello Fania Records, además de uno de los creadores del concepto musical "salsa". “La Melodía” abrió pegajosamente el fantástico primer LP de Pacheco y su Charanga con Elliot Romero en 1960. Johnny falleció hace tres años en Nueva Jersey.
