Okay, this may be a little niche, but... "Hatchet Town" with the people of Melonville, where SCTV is supposed to take place.
"LaRue was in the school! We all know he's the local mule, selling drugs to our children!" "I'm a volunteer counselor!" "We know he loves killing!" "I certainly don't love killing."
"Friendly's on the loose and he's got a gun and he's got a motive to kill!" "I'm a cop!"
"Shanks has got his hand on the hatchet handle, swinging on the youth from his high mantle!"
"Careful, or your kids will end up on Lola's plate!" "Excuse me! How dare you?!"
"Until Gerry (Todd) went on his murder spree!"

I've seen close to 4 seasons of SCTV, and I think I know what they should probably do (or what I would do) if they did a reunion special: I'd want to do a Mockumentary film or miniseries. A where are they now type thing. Since I think I've heard the show ended with SCTV going off the air because they didn't have enough money, I think it'd make sense to do a fake documentary covering what happened to all their many stars. I could still see a comedic tribute to John Candy and his characters being written in, because I could see Johnny LaRue dying in some embarrassing way (like David Carradine).
I really think I'm onto something here. At the very least, it seems like a fun idea. Who wouldn't want to see where SCTV's many personalities ended up?

MK1 Christmas Headcanons🎄🎅🤶✨🌨️
Do I care that it’s only November 1st? No, no I don’t.
-Claudia and Johnny used to love Christmas as kids, but Claudia stopped celebrating it after they fell out and left home, while Johnny was famous for his big Christmas parties during the high of his career, but secretly missed how he used to celebrate it with Claudia
-now that they have made up tho, the Carltons are definitely planning to celebrate it together this year
-among the Lin Kuei, holidays weren’t banned, more of like barely celebrated as they were viewed as “distracting” towards being trained to protect earthrealm, so some would exchange some gifts for Christmas but that was it
-in the Shirai Ryu tho, they go a little more festive for Christmas, and Tomas actually convinces Kuai to put up and decorate a Christmas tree
-there actually is a Christmas equivalent in Outworld! It is called “The Feast Of The Winter Moon” and unlike on earth, a blue moon is extremely rare in Outworld and only happens once a year, on the day that corresponds to Christmas on earth
-Outworlders would exchange gifts on this day, eat to their heart’s content, dance and drink until they fall down, the feast is known to go from starting early in the morning and ending not until the next morning
-Ashrah, being from the Netherrealm, had no idea what The Feast Of The Winter Moon was and when Syzoth first introduced it to her, it actually became her favorite holiday
-The Feast Of The Winter Moon actually does have a mistletoe equivalent! And does Johnny use it? Yes he does! Does this end with him probably getting injured? Yes, absolutely!
-The Feast Of The Winter Moon also consists of a one giant feast in or near the Palace for the residents of Sun Do, one of the few times where the public gets to enter or be near the royal residence
-Kung Lao, Johnny, Min Le, Claudia and Tomas are all “Christmas music right after Halloween” and Kuai Liang and Kenshi are strictly “no Christmas music until December 1st, and Raiden doesn’t really care
-Claudia and Johnny start a tradition where they do a livestream on Christmas Day, leading many people to speculate they were dating (as the world had no idea they were siblings) and when asked about it, Johnny is just “can’t a guy hang out with his sister in peace?” and the internet loses their minds
-I’d like to think that Liu Kang and Geras have their own little Christmas Day celebration, just a little breakfast together, something simple
-Christmas Eve celebration at Madame Bo’s!!!!

I posted this is comedy yaoi but actually I need everyone to see it because I’m an educator. In lieu of the mass grief following the recent US election here’s my complete unabridged opinion piece on both the RPF and character-based SCTV yaoi-verse✊
Okay so here’s my introduction paragraph for those now in the know — second city television was a sketch comedy show that ran from ‘76-84 originally in syndication, later on CBC and NBC. It was basically the Canadian ‘underground’ version of SNL except the framing for all the skits was a fictitious dysfunctional television station (SCTV) run by a handful of recurring characters and starring Dave Thomas, John Candy, Catherine O’Hara, Eugene Levy, Joe Flaherty, Andria Martin, Rick Moranis, and Martin Short though in various combinations over the years. Oh and also Harold Ramis but only for the first two seasons so no comment.
I’d say Flaherty was kind of the big brother for everyone else in the operation— he was in the original theatre troupe and part of the show since day one. That’s not to say he was at all authoritarian though, Joe was definitely a soft spoken democratic leader. Maybe like Woodrow Wilson. Or Dumbledore, if that’s more relevant to you personally. I wouldn’t say he has any particularly strong yaoi ties to anyone else in the cast except I guess Eugene Levy since they were kind of each other’s creative muses. HOWEVER…. in terms of SCTV characters their respective newscaster personas Floyd and Earl are undoubtedly boning in a toxic nasty way on station property and probably are also the #1 SCTV couple in a Stefon and Seth sort of way (see below)
youtube
I almost forgot they also play classic 70s talk show hosts and there’s a lot of fan-fiction about them getting each other pregnant okay that’s all.
NEXT. John Candy was also one of the original members and while he wasn’t necessarily involved in either type of yaoi, his characters were integral in giving especially season 1 a very homoerotic flair. It was mostly his washed up actor-sona Johnny LaRue constantly and publicly struggling against the gay allegations since his segment in the very first episode. While trying to find that clip I actually instead found this SCTV Reddit image with a poorly overlaid huge Ariel caption that I like better. (See below)
I don’t have a whole lot to say about Catherine O’Hara, I think she was too self respecting both on screen and irl to get involved but I love her. She wrote a lot with Joe and Eugene so they were kind of like a platonic power throuple in my awesome mind. Andria Martin…. I am less sure about. She played the butch lesbian A LOT and I think has confirmed actually had sex with another woman (YURI) but I won’t say anything……. See below. Also interesting photo to use for that particular article.
NEXT….. Okay Dave Thomas, I really am not even sure where to begin with him but he was also one of the chief writers and original troupe members who ended up meeting Rick Moranis and bringing him on in season 3. The whole thing was partly his brainchild and he did author a book on the group’s history however I don’t see Dave as being as serious as Levy or Flaherty writing and production-wise. He’s kind of very theatre guy goofy silly on screen but also has an aura of sociopolitical jadedness that starts coming through in his Bill Needle sketches (a fictional miserable entertainment critic slash commentator I’ll discuss later) but especially once Dave started doing Doug McKenzie after Moranis joined.
They met at some comedy-based party in Canada (the gayest place you can meet) and really hit it off and immediately preformed as a musical duo that night (the gayest activity you can partake in. It’s like Simon and Garfunkel). Rick was kind of the new kid of the group after he was brought on but since Dave was a senior member they ended up working together a lot. The Great White North AKA the McKenzie brother skits are for sure no question what made SCTV anywhere near as well known as it is today and that was Thomas and Moranis’ comedy child. Okay and you might be thinking ‘how are they the most real life yaoiful couple on the cast but also are famous for playing brothers’ — that’s a good question and the answer is just don’t think about it too hard. I think Bob and Doug are more a testament to Dave and Rick’s day 1 original pure beautiful friendship that then laid the path for more later on. Like in this except from Dave’s book ⬇️
Anyway yes they’re 70 year old best friends now and still talk on the phone all the time and it’s awesome. But they were probably the closest out of anyone and both had to simultaneously deal with their sudden and overwhelming joint fame after Great White North blew up, which was unpleasant for both of them and involved a lot of travel and hotel rooms. (See below: an interview photo, their radio appearance promoting their comedy album, and whatever’s happening in the last one. Also notice how Dave’s face is a perfect circle he’s so cute)
Okay circling back to Bill Needle — he was a character Dave started doing in early on that went on until he left the show and he’s kind of irrelevant except for a few yaoiful details. He’s constantly having marital problems and has a weird friendship with the sleazy semi-creepy SCTV station president Guy Caballero whom Flaherty plays, and would I say they’re OFFICIALLY a yaoi couple not really but it’s there.
But yeah anyway in conclusion Rick and Dave show up in a bunch of each others sketches throughout the series and they write together and talk together and have play dates together and kiss and everyone else on SCTV absorbs their faggotry either by free will or by association and I think that’s what’s really important to remember and also I love them and I love you too. Oh and also Martin Short’s there near the end but he’s irrelevant except for inventing Ed Grimly and being Steve Martin’s de facto wife later in life. THE END

so i'm reading The Invisible Life by Addie LaRue by V.E. Schwab and it got me thinking about Simon and Johnny in that scenario.
at this point, you're centuries old, having made that pact with the dark gods a long time ago; all to escape a life that would've killed you. maybe not physically, you would've still been breathing but every day would've filled with agony, with the desperate wish to cease to exist, just so you could finally get a break.
the deal you made had saved you from that but the price you paid, now after having lived it for so long, almost didn't seem worth it. after all, what is a life if you cannot be remembered, if people forget the moment you're out of their sight, incapable of writing down the final letters of your name before the first ones were already disappearing, your name never to be spoken out loud, forever imprisoned within yourself.
you cross paths with Simon and Johnny because of the latter, an aspiring artist, and the loophole you've found yourself. You might never have a spotlight on you, but you could exist in a particular set of brushstrokes, exist as the missing notes to a masterpiece, exist as the muse of creative genius.
you knew Johnny would become big, had all the telltale signs of having his name spoken with all the other great minds. it just so happened that whenever you met up with him, a new name and reminder on how you met ready for him, Simon was also always there.
not that you minded it. Johnny was loud, filled with all the excitements life had to offer, it filled his veins and came as easy as breathing to him; like a sun you couldn't seem enough of after your lifetimes of darkness.
Simon was much quieter, didn't feel the need to fill silence unnecessarily but when he spoke his mind you were hanging onto every word he said; like the first rain after a drought, nourishing the wilted parts within you because as long as they both remembered you, you felt seen.
if you allowed yourself to dream, you could imagine being with one of them, maybe even both of them, but you knew it was a race against time. sooner or later, you'd be forgotten. your touches washed off their skins, your presence a phantom memory until even that would disappear into smoke as the hours ticked by.
you had made your peace with it.
so why had you been cornered by both of them in this bar, Johnny's hand gripping your wrist too tightly as they both watched you; Johnny with a haunted but desperate look in his eyes, mouth open to beg for something he failed to vocalize; Simon seemed just furious, as if you were a threat he had no clue how to defeat when he spoke, surprising not just you but also himself.
"We know you..."
It was unsure, more like a question, but seeing them both, seeing their confusion and the toll it's taking on them, you knew it to be true. Somehow they had managed to not fall victim to your curse.
They remembered you.
#for someone who thought i'd simp for simon before knowing anything about the games i sure write so little about him#crown mumbles#cod mw2#cod x reader#cod#johnny mactavish#johnny mactavish x reader#simon riley#simon riley x reader

eldritch god! Ghost and most loyal and devout follower!soap
yeah. anybody here read the invisible life of addie larue?
thinking about soap, who's miserable and suffering (for whatever reason), and finds himself calling out to anything that can help him. he started with God, but when He didn't respond johnny wasn't so loyal that he'd let himself continue suffering
he's not really sure who he's praying to, and he's even less sure who's responding. but they make his life easier, help him sleep at night and ease the pain in his head, his knee, so he keeps praying
and he finds that he's not fully content with just hearing his god's voice. the pain in his head is worse when he's not communicating with him, and there's a heaviness in his bones that only exists when he can't feel the deity looming over him like a heavy jacket
((which is all very intentional, of course. ghost soothes soap's pains, but only when he asks, only when soap invites him into his head. it's all too easy to make humans reliant on gods, and johnny is particularly lonely))
yadda yadda soap keeps waking up exhausted with scratches all over his body and bruises on his wrists. he has no idea where he's been going in the night, but ghost is always a little more talkative the mornings after, always gives him a little bit of a rush of comfort through the odd mental bond johnny still can't quite understand
the first night johnny ties himself to the bed (his feet are torn to shreds), ghost abandons him entirely. johnny has to leave work after only a few hours, throwing himself on his knees and shouting to the sky, begging for ghost to come back and take his pain away, make him feel better
that night, johnny doesn't tie himself to his bed. the next morning his feet are bandaged
anyways. johnny's gonna sell his soul to the weird voice in his head eventually, but i don't have the brainworms to tell you how it happens <3
#one of these days i'll be brave enough to finish midsommar#asks and answers#canyoubethestalkertomytango

Wrestling World presents Wrestling Maniacs: JUNE 1999
UNDERSTANDING RAVEN
In his journey to find his inner peace, Raven must be allowed to expand. He must be as outrageous as he has to be. He must be extreme. And above all he must be accepted for who he is–a man plagued by personal demons who takes it out on his opponents!
By P.S. LaRue
RAVEN is extreme in thought and action. If allowed to, Raven could make the NWO look tame. But Raven is sinking into a depression so deep that he may not be able to come back.
“WCW doesn’t understand Raven,” said one ECW insider. “He doesn’t respond to rules and he hates any type of authority. He won’t fulfill his true potential anywhere but ECW where Raven can be as complex as he needs to be.”
Complexity is what Raven is all about. He has sides and angles that contradict; and this inner dispute governs him in a way that no organization (wrestling or otherwise) ever could.
Fans can remember Raven (Scotty Levy) from his other wrestling personalities: Scotty The Body, Scotty Flamingo, and Scott Anthony. As Raven, Scott has integrated his own life with a magnetism that has grown over years of adversity. Raven is Scotty’s most extreme personality.
Scotty Levy began his career in 1988 in the Pacific Northwest as Scotty THe Body. With his good looks and growing skill in the ring, Scotty hoped to be a headliner. He had worked hard to build a body that would get him noticed. Scotty was a hit. In only three years, Scotty had held all the major titles and he thought it was time to move on.
The career had given him the love and acceptance which he had not yet experienced in life, and Scotty wanted more.
Scotty Flamingo was born in the WCW. Scott Anthony, in the USWA. With his devotion to duty, his inner strength and his desire to learn, Scotty did his best to keep it all together. But he wasn’t feeling the warmth that he had in the beginning. Scotty needed more than he was getting and he had to move again.
Then came Johnny Polo. During the WWF days, Scotty tried his hand as a manager and (with exception to his choice of accessories) tried to imitate Jim Cornette. It didn’t work as well as planned but Scotty won some time in the production room. His education continued, but behind the scenes Scotty felt only coldness. It was time to reach out once more for what he needed.
[Raven’s sad, if not morbid, poetic messages are a mixture of his struggles and his delight in taking the unpopular side of an issue.]
But as Raven, Scott has pulled together a combination of fantasy and fact that could rival any of the great personalities of the past. His sad, if not morbid, poetic messages are a mixture of his struggles and his delight in taking the unpopular side of an issue. Not unlike a young Kevin Sullivan, those messages draw the fans into a world totally different from their own. Kevin apple of the devil. Raven speaks of personal demons. He speaks of an unhappy childhood and the pain of betrayal. Although many of us cannot relate to Raven’s words; we can relate to his pain. Larry Zbyszko claims Raven just blames everyone else for what has happened to him, that Raven points his finger in shame. But Raven is to all the neglected and abused children a type of anti-hero. He may not be a face (Good-guy in the ring) but he is still someone to look up to, someone who will speak out about the horrors of the past. That will make Raven the man of the masses. But we, the fans, have to understand where Raven has been and where he hopes to go. In his journey to find his inner peace, Raven must be allowed to expand. He must be as outrageous as he has to be. He must be extreme. And above all he must be accepted for who he is.
At his best, Raven has abundant physical vitality and he doesn’t hesitate to use it. He is forceful. He is hard-hitting. He can wear out his opponents with his tireless endurance. Raven simply overwhelms. His erratic and explosive independence can drive some people away; but when Raven has a vision of how things should be, he goes after that vision. Sometimes that vision is a tidal wave and goes over his head so Raven needs someone to keep him focused in reality. But not to clip his wings.
Having a sensitive side to him, Scotty can feel imposed on emotionally. Maybe this is why he tends to select underdogs as his friends. The Flock is a good example.
When Raven and Stevie Richards first showed up in WCW, Raven saw several young athletes who were being sacrificed as glorified jobbers. He sat ringside for weeks as he studied these men. As Raven constructed his plans to help others; the Flock took shape.
[Raven tends to select underdogs as his friends and The Flock was a perfect example.]
It was hard work to make WCW notice. The company had replaced Raven’s neglectful parents and he was determined to open WCW’s eyes before they created more disenchanted men like himself.
[Raven simply overwhelms and his erratic and explosive independence can drive some people away.]
Raven spoke his mind during his interview time. He poured out his tortured soul. But instead of listening and learning from his past, Zbyszko and other announcers accused him of whining. Raven then had to get brutal in defense of his idea.
Raven became an unforgiving father to the happy-go-lucky Richards. If Stevie doesn’t do his best in a match (through Raven’s eyes) then Stevie has to be punished. Raven would cross over the guard rail. He seemed intense and purposeful as he comes eye to eye with Stevie’s opponent. The crowd expected him to aid his fallen friend. Or at least they thought he would the first time it happened.
But Raven couldn’t handle Stevie’s loss. And the fans were horrified to see Raven Pull Stevie to his feet and dump him on his head in a painful DDT. Few People understood why Raven did this to someone who was supposed to be his closest friend in the organization; but Raven did it because Stevie is his friend. In psychology they call it “tough love.” Raven knows tough love better than any other type.
Raven feels that most people are unsympathetic. So love has become a sacrifice and Raven thinks that pain and suffering go hand in hand with love. Suspicion is the order of the day. But Raven needs love and he can be a very loyal and thoughtful man. The key to this complicated man in understanding. Whether you’re a fan or hoping to become a friend, you must take the time to really know Raven. This is also the advice I give to WCW.
First Stevie left. Raven understood, It didn’t hurt him too deeply since the Flock was frowning and Raven had other followers to watch over. But last fall when Saturn left the nest and started encouraging the others to strike out on their own, it hurt Raven profoundly.
Billy Kidman left and shortly afterward he became the Cruiserweight champion. Did he go back and thank Raven for opening the eyes of ECW? No. But would he have been given a shot at the title without being part of the Flock? It’s doubtful. Even his Shooting Star Press couldn’t get Kidman the recognition that he got when he joined the Flock.
[“What about me?” has been Raven’s motto since he has been abandoned by The Flock.]
“What about me?” has been Raven’s motto. And it’s understandable when Raven has lost all that was once his. Now he spirals downward in a bottomless pit of pain.
To say that Raven has a death wish isn’t far from the truth these days. Since being abandoned by the Flock, Raven sits in one corner of the ring. His eyes show a sadness; otherwise his face is void of expression. He lets his mind drift out of reality much as he did when he was a child.
Disassociating himself from the pain as his opponent kicks his legs or taunts him verbally, is his only way to survive. It seems that Raven loses himself for a while then out of nowhere comes a surprise move that floors his opponent. Then a chair is placed in the center of the ring. A drip toe hold lands Raven’s victim on the chair head first.
[When Raven had The Flock, he had the acceptance and the love he has always craved!]
In the beginning, this move was so awesome. Now Raven sometimes becomes the victim of his own move. It couldn’t have happened when Raven had the Flock. Not just because they could have come to his rescue. When Raven had his Flock, Raven had the acceptance and the love that he craves. He was backed by a feeling of approval. He was not only the leader but a part of the group. By adopting the Flock, Raven had found a home. Now Raven feels alone.
In his mind he regresses back to that painful childhood. Raven feels unwanted and neglected once again.
It is that the WCW, the fans, and everyone who has a heart to reach out to Raven. He is too sore from the years of abuse to pull himself up. He can’t do it alone.
[To say that Raven has a death wish isn’t far from the truth these days!]
“What about me?” Raven is asking for help in the only way he can. He may be pouting. He may be rebellious. He may be hurting himself. But Raven is asking for love and acceptance the only way that he knows how. He hasn’t forgotten the early days in the Pacific Northwest. He just can’t remember how to get that esteem back.
Raven wants to be loved for himself. But in that quest he has sunk so deep inside his pain that he no longer shows his lovable side. As he continues to sink he is letting go of all of his other abilities. It is up to the fans to toss Raven a lifesaver. It is time that someone saves Raven from himself. It is time that someone just tries to understand.

would love if you could talk more about the goth sg ceciliaverse is it like a worldbuilding thing uve got?
HAHA... YES!!!!!!!
ok so the ceciliaverse is just my catchall for my weird melodramatic overwrought myspacecore "dark academia" short stories set in sg lol. it's called the ceciliaverse because originally they all took place in st cecilia junior college which is an Extremely Thinly Disguised version of my old jc no points for guessing which one
anyway! our cast:
unhinged catholics x1 (you look so good in blue)
YOU CAN ACTUALLY READ THIS ONE!!!!
st cecilia jc, 2008
two kids from single-gender schools + a complete and total lack of chill = murder
au of sheath and knife by maddy prior
i almost failed a levels because i was so intense about writing this but it was worth it
unhinged catholics x2 (the singing bone)
st cecilia jc, 2023
girl drowns her best friend slash academic rival and either Spirals or Gets Haunted about it it's unclear
consisted mainly of me and my friends arguing in the canteen about which subject combi would be the most likely to snap (it would be the hybrid students)
but we could not figure out for the life of us how killing someone would help you get 90rp
au of binnorie by custer larue/the winding stream by the carter family (i've linked the johnny cash cover)
unhinged catholics x3 (and now we are at partings)
st cecilia jc, 2016
just the divine comedy. but in sg.
hamilton kinnie theatre kid realises she can talk to dead people and promptly summons the ghost of her favourite writer, an obscure 1970s asian-american activist
i never finished this because i dont really know enough about sg to write it. but in someone else's hands i think it could be really cute
not actually technically In the ceciliaverse but it has the vibes
unhinged anglicans (little emperor)
cambridge, 199X
unsuspecting british woman starts dating weird rich acs boy and realises she's in over her head
[FIC PENDING]

Since I'm still largely stumped on what could happen in this mockumentary, I'll ask you (maybe we can get some sort of idea discussion going). Where do you see the characters from SCTV today? Where do you see Bobby Bittman? Guy Caballero? Lola Heatherton? Etc.
