THE LITTLE THINGS (2021) Grade: C-
Very vanilla considering the cast. I thought it will be a hidden gem. Kept thinking a bigger twist will happen or a great ending. Neither happen.

Film after film: The Founder (dir. John Lee Hancock, 2016)
Tumblr media Tumblr media Tumblr media Tumblr media Tumblr media Tumblr media
Keaton was one of the biggest names of my VHS-dominated childhood and teenage years, the star of the few good Burton movies, the lead of a few interesting (The Paper, Clean and Sober) and sappy (My Life) dramas and a charismatic presence in so-so comedies (Speechless, Multiplicity). His career ebbed and flew, with one big high (agent Ray Nicolette in Out of Sight and Jackie Brown) and a lot of lows. The Founder came in the midst of the rebound section, just after two strong films (Birdman, Spotlight) that served as a reminder that he can carry a film effortlessly. However, this one is a massive Oscar bait, a bland story about a problematic and charismatic character, one that could play on TV in perpetuity. Luckily, this didn't put an end to Keaton's revival, which most recently got another boost through Dopesick.
