So, I had a little fun on Canva creating John Foster's book covers.
It's by no means perfect but I like the look of them :)
Also the last one isn't a book mentioned in The Blue Castle but is inspired by this excerpt :
ā€œHereā€™s a patch of dandelions,ā€ said Valancy, unsubdued. ā€œDandelions shouldnā€™t grow in the woods, though. They havenā€™t any sense of the fitness of things at all. They are too cheerful and self-satisfied. They havenā€™t any of the mystery and reserve of the real wood-flowers.ā€
ā€œIn short, theyā€™ve no secrets,ā€ said Barney. ā€œBut wait a bit. The woods will have their own way even with those obvious dandelions. In a little while all that obtrusive yellowness and complacency will be gone and weā€™ll find here misty, phantom-like globes hovering over those long grasses in full harmony with the traditions of the forest.ā€

Pines are the trees of myth and legend. They strike their roots deep into the traditions of an older world, but wind and star love their lofty tops. - Wild Honey, John Foster

Consider this:
Pines are the trees of myth and legend. They strike their roots deep into the traditions of an older world, but wind and star love their lofty tops.
Quote from one of John Foster's book Wild Honey.
How I love the pines! They seem to strike their roots deep into the romance of all the ages.Ā
Anne to Gilbert while they out on a walk to a park in Kingsport.
Anne Shirley and Barney Snaith have similar thinking.

ā€œFear is the original sin,ā€ suddenly said a still, small voice away backā€”backā€”back of Valancyā€™s consciousness. ā€œAlmost all the evil in the world has its origin in the fact that some one is afraid of something.ā€ Valancy stood up. She was still in the clutches of fear, but her soul was her own again. She would not be false to that inner voice.
I like that Valancy did waver here. Even when dying, making changes would be hard to confront when so many people in your life are trying to shape you a certain way. But how perfect is it that her favorite author's words that gave her the courage to go to Dr. Trent in the first place is now an anchor against Dr. Stalling's final test of her resolve to live her life on her own terms!
