LEAKED Voicemail: The End Of Trump?
>> in order we all know the Mueller file was released in April and due to Trump’s talking features what most americans heard from it was that there was once no obstruction and no collusion, no collusion and then no obstruction. Robert Mueller simply during the report he special many circumstances of the obstruction circumstances which lots of you can also not have read. Including one certain back and forth between Trumps attorney and Michael Flynn’s attorney. Of course, Michael Flynn used to be the disgraced countrywide security guide for Trump at some point. 4K Ultra HD Review: Mad Max
Much like actors are prone to typecasting, so too are filmmakers often pigeonholed in the genre in which they first find success. When doctor-turned-director George Miller made his propitious debut with 1979's Mad Max and followed it up with two sequels over the next six years, he seemed destined to continue to work in action. Instead, the Australian filmmaker explored comedy (The Witches of Eastwick), drama (Lorenzo's Oil), and family fare (Babe: Pig in the City, Happy Feet) before returning to his roots with Mad Max: Fury Road, earning six Academy Awards.
Miller's skill in the visual medium was apparent from the start with Mad Max. Rather than highlighting Australia's lush landscapes, he and director of photography David Eggby (Pitch Black, Scooby-Doo) show a desolate, muted Melbourne. While it's often overshadowed by the ostentatious, post-apocalyptic dystopia of its sequels, the original film depicts a near-future that takes place prior to - but on the cusp of - the complete collapse of society. Miller and co-writer James McCausland maintain a sliver of normalcy, but an energy crisis has triggered the beginning of the end.
Mad Max wastes no time getting to the madness, opening with a reckless, high-speed chase in which the unruly gang wreaking havoc on the streets of Australia kills one of the few remaining members of the disheveled police force attempting to uphold the law. Leather-clad lawman Max Rockatansky (a young Mel Gibson) joins the hunt, and it becomes personal when the gang's ringleader, Toecutter (Hugh Keays-Byrne, who also plays the villainous Immortan Joe in Mad Max: Fury Road), targets his wife (Joanne Samuel) and infant son. The rage-filled Max takes his supercharged car and seeks vengeance against the leader and his loyal acolytes.
Mad Max may be tame by today’s standards, particularly when compared to the insanity that would follow in the franchise, but consider the context upon its initial release. This low-budget, independent film from a first-time filmmaker with an inexperienced cast and crew in Australia unexpectedly delivered 93 minutes of the most death-defying stunts committed to celluloid at the time. The cast and crew threw caution to the wind, resulting in a palpable sense of danger, while dramatic elements accentuate the action.
Mad Max drives onto 4K Ultra HD and Blu-ray from Kino Lorber Studio Classics. It has been restored in 4K from original elements with Dolby Vision High Dynamic Range, resulting in a sharp, vibrant picture that blows the previous Blu-ray releases from Scream Factory and MGM out of the water. Three audio options are available: the original mono Australian track, a 5.1 lossless Australian track (in which the many explosions and crashes sound massive), and the American dub. A slipcover with alternate artwork is included.
Both the 4K UHD and Blu-ray discs include a casual, enjoyable audio commentary by Eggby, art director Jon Dowding, and special effects artist Chris Murray, while the Blu-ray houses the rest of the special features. Most notably, Miller sits down for a new, 30-minute interview about the film and its legacy. It's filmed via video chat due to Covid-19, but it's great to have the director's input, as he was absent from previous editions. He discusses the movie's origins as a contemporary story, being smitten by Gibon's audition, the guerilla filmmaking tactics, and more.
Scream Factory's 2015 interview featurette with Gibson (who looks back on the film with fondness and honesty), Samuel, and Eggby is ported over, as are two mini-documentaries produced by MGM in 2002: Mad Max: The Film Phenomenon, a 25-minute piece about the movie's impact, and Mel Gibson: Birth of a Superstar, a 16-minute featurette about Gibson’s rise to fame featuring Eggby, actors Piper Laurie (Carrie) and John Jarratt (Wolf Creek), and more. Other extras include a trailer commentary by writer Josh Olson (A History of Violence), two theatrical trailers, three TV spots, and three radio spots.
Mad Max is available now on 4K Ultra HD and Blu-ray via Kino Lorber Studio Classics.

Forget the Emmys...Check Out the Deggys! My own personal awards for the best in TV
The best thing about being a TV critic – besides getting paid to watch television, of course – is that you get the chance to correct the industry’s mistakes by telling them what they should do. Sometimes even before they actually do anything.
Which is why I came up with my own way of honoring the best writing and performances on TV: The Deggy Awards.
I’ve only picked out a few of the most contentious categories for my Deggys here. you can hear an audio version of this story on NPR Sunday morning; check my twitter feed @deggans for more #Emmy stuff, where I’ll live tweet the whole broadcast and let the snarkiness really fly!
So, drumroll please…
Best Comedy Series
Nominees: Atlanta (FX), black-ish (ABC), Master of None (Netflix), Modern Family (ABC), Silicon Valley (HBO), Unbreakable Kimmy Schmidt (Netflix), Veep (HBO).
And the DEGGY goes to…Atlanta. Yeah, I’m saying this, even as Donald Trump’s shenanigans make Veep look like a documentary. Among all the nominated shows here – and I would have dumped Modern Family to nominate NBC’s The Good Place or FX’s Better Things instead – Atlanta best reflects the spirit of today’s cutting-edge TV comedies. It’s an ambitious vision from creator Donald Glover that takes viewers into a very specific culture to tell stories with a universal resonance. He’s focused on the story of three young black men trying to get ahead in life in Atlanta; a city you think you know, but really don’t. He’s also poking at issues like policing in communities of color, classism, cultural fetishism and celebrity excess in ways that make you think before you even realize you’re thinking.
Okay, but who will win? I think Veep actually will win here, because HBO’s political comedy is: a) still a vibrant force, b) increasingly beloved by Emmy voters, and c) never been more relevant.
youtube
Best Drama Series
Nominees: Better Call Saul (AMC), The Crown (Netflix), The Handmaid's Tale (Hulu), House of Cards (Netflix), Stranger Things (Netflix), This Is Us (NBC), Westworld (HBO).
And the DEGGY goes to…The Handmaid’s Tale. TV drama was so ridiculously good this year, any of these nominees could credibly win (except for past-its-prime House of Cards, which should have been bounced for HBO’s The Leftovers or FX’s The Americans). Still, The Handmaid’s Tale stands out by deftly updating a classic dystopian novel about women forced to serve as breeders for an American theocracy. It spoke directly to modern day misogyny and oppression of women. And star Elizabeth Moss has become the queen of quality TV thanks to her fearless, supremely authentic and relatable performance as the handmaid Offred.
Okay, but who will win? TV industry cynics say Westworld will win this category, because it is the most-nominated drama. But my money is on the dark horse nominee, This Is Us, to win as a widely-seen network TV hit with lots of industry love.
youtube
Best Actress, Comedy
Nominees: Pamela Adlon, Better Things; Tracee Ellis Ross, black-ish; Jane Fonda, Grace and Frankie (Netflix); Allison Janney, Mom; Ellie Kemper, Unbreakable Kimmy Schmidt; Julia Louis-Dreyfus, Veep; Lily Tomlin, Grace and Frankie.
And the DEGGY goes to…Pamela Adlon. Some Deggys are about more than the performance we see onscreen. Adlon wins here one for the singular voice she brings as co-creator and executive producer of a bracing, authentic comedy about a single mom struggling with a faltering showbiz career, challenging kids and her own misanthropic tendencies. Frankly, this is a category which should have had fresher names among the nominees, especially Issa Rae from HBO’s Insecure.
Okay, but who will win? I can’t quibble with the woman who will win this trophy, Veep star Julia Louis-Dreyfus. She’s the lynchpin of TV’s best fictional political series and a win this year would set another Emmy record; six consecutive wins on Veep would give her the most Emmys for playing the same character in the same series, and eight wins over her career would tie her with Cloris Leachman for most Emmys won by a performer.
Best Supporting Actress, Drama
Nominees: Uzo Aduba, Orange Is The New Black (Netflix); Ann Dowd, The Handmaid's Tale; Millie Bobby Brown, Stranger Things; Chrissy Metz, This Is Us; Thandie Newton, Westworld; Samira Wiley, The Handmaid's Tale.
And the DEGGY goes to…Ann Dowd AND Chrissy Metz. My awards show. My rules. Basically, I couldn’t choose between Dowd’s chilling headmistress of sexual slaves in The Handmaid’s Tale and Metz’s poignant sibling struggling to cope with her weight, her romance and her father’s death in This Is Us. This was also a category where a lot of great eligible performances were overlooked, especially Aubrey Plaza’s mesmerizing turn as a sentient mental parasite in FX’s Legion and non binary performer Asia Kate Dillon’s work as a non binary executive at a massive hedge fund in Showtime’s Billions.
Okay, but who will win? If Metz doesn’t actually win this award, then I think Millie Bobby Brown might earn the only acting Emmy for Stranger Things.
Best Supporting Actor, Drama
Nominees: Jonathan Banks, Better Call Saul; John Lithgow, The Crown; David Harbour, Stranger Things; Ron Cephas Jones, This Is Us; Michael Kelly, House of Cards; Mandy Patinkin, Homeland (Showtime); Jeffrey Wright, Westworld.
And the DEGGY goes to…Michael McKean, Better Call Saul. You didn’t miss anything; McKean wasn’t nominated in this category. But he was amazing as Chuck McGill, a brilliantly dysfunctional lawyer and older brother to the main character, Bob Odenkirk’s Jimmy McGill. Chuck was a total snake who worked hard to undermine a brother who loved him, because he was convinced Jimmy was a toxic person who would only hurt those around him. And the fact that he was right, made Chuck McGill TV’s best tragic villain of the year and one of the Emmys’ worst snubs.

Trump Lawyer John Dowd Demanded ‘Heads Up’ On Flynn Cooperation In Disturbing Audio
[ad_1]
Disturbing audio was released Thursday of a quietly insistent voicemail from Donald Trump’s former personal attorney demanding a “heads up” about what Michael Flynn’s was telling Robert Mueller investigators that might “implicate” the president.
John Dowd’s call to Flynn’s attorney Robert Kelner also appeared to hint at a pardon for the former national security adviser if he stopped…

Trump dropping back into harsh reality after royal treatment abroad
President Donald Trump will return to a host of political problems in Washington after his five-day stint in Europe. | Charles McQuillan/Getty Images
White House
The president is returning to a feud with Pelosi, oversight probes and high-stakes trade wars after a relatively smooth European trip.
SHANNON, Ireland — He was treated to full royal pageantry in London, an aerial tour of the sites of the Normandy landings in France and a round of golf at his luxury resort on the coast of Ireland. Now, it’s back to reality for Donald Trump.
A growing number of political troubles will greet the president as he returns to Washington, fresh off a five-day swing through France, Ireland and the United Kingdom, where he and his adult children enjoyed a series of elaborate affairs. Trump’s lengthy foreign trip — one of the last he’s expected to make before launching his reelection campaign later this month — was seen as a roaring success among his aides.
Story Continued Below
But it didn’t take long for the president to refocus on former special counsel Robert Mueller and his feud with House Speaker Nancy Pelosi as he wrapped up his visit, trampling on positive news coverage he had received for his speech on the 75th anniversary of D-Day.
In a series of early-morning tweets, Trump quoted Fox News’ Sean Hannity describing Mueller’s report on Russian election meddling as “pure political garbage” and claimed the report was “totally biased” against him. His comments came just hours after he received acclaim, even from longtime critics, for the remarks he gave in front of hundreds of World War II veterans gathered near a cemetery for American soldiers at Omaha Beach.
“This is perhaps the most on-message moment of Donald Trump’s presidency. … He stayed on script, stayed on message and, I think, rose to the moment,” CNN White House reporter Jim Acosta told the network after Trump’s remarks.
Conservative commentator Bill Kristol, who has actively sought for a GOP candidate to challenge Trump in a primary 2020, tweeted: “A good speech.”
Such praise from Trump’s critics is not expected to last long.
His recent threat to launch new tariffs against Mexico, unless the country ratchets up its interior immigration enforcement, has caused an uproar on Capitol Hill, where Republicans are discussing ways to block the move. And when Trump declared Thursday that he’s considering raising tariffs on China by another $300 billion, Beijing responded sharply.
“If the United States willfully decides to escalate tensions, we’ll fight to the end,” Gao Feng, a spokesman for China’s Commerce Ministry, told reporters at a briefing Thursday.
Then there’s Trump’s rapidly deteriorating relationship with Pelosi, with whom the White House is supposed to be working on a $2 trillion infrastructure plan.
Pelosi, who was in the crowd Thursday at the D-Day ceremony in Colleville-sur-Mer, France, told senior Democrats earlier this week that she prefers to see the president “in prison” rather than impeached. Pelosi’s colleagues on the House Judiciary Committee further stoked the president’s ire this week when Chairman Jerry Nadler (D-N.Y.) revealed Trump’s former communications director Hope Hicks had partially defied a White House request to ignore a subpoena from the committee when she agreed to hand over documents related to Trump’s 2016 presidential campaign.
It was the latest setback for Trump as he and his aides battle a barrage of oversight and ethics investigations led by House Democrats.
And Trump appeared especially piqued during an interview with Fox News’ Laura Ingraham that was recorded before the D-Day ceremonies began but didn’t air until Thursday evening, after the president had wrapped up his public obligations.
“I think she’s a disgrace. I don’t think she’s a talented person,” Trump said of Pelosi. “I’ve tried to be nice to her because I would have liked to have gotten some deals done. She’s incapable of doing deals. She’s a nasty, vindictive, horrible person.”
It was a jarring contrast with the posture of Pelosi, who told reporters in Normandy, “I don’t talk about the president while I’m out of the country.”
Even before Trump left Europe, the reality of the political landscape he was returning to had set in with news that his first national security adviser, Michael Flynn, had abruptly fired his entire legal team — the same group of lawyers who arranged a plea deal with Mueller in 2017 in which Flynn agreed to cooperate with the special counsel and his team. The development came as audio surfaced from a voicemail that one of Trump’s personal attorneys, John Dowd, left for Flynn on the eve of his plea deal. The voicemail, in which Dowd advised Flynn to keep the White House looped in throughout Mueller’s investigation despite his position as a cooperating witness, has been described as potentially incriminating by some legal experts.
Trump’s homecoming means the end of a trip he’s described as particularly memorable. At a bilateral meeting Thursday with French President Emmanuel Macron, Trump described that morning’s ceremonies to honor D-Day veterans as “a special day.”
But it was his numerous interactions with Queen Elizabeth II that Trump appeared to truly revel in.
“I found this to be a very — sort of an amazing period of time, especially having spent so much time with the queen, who I think is an incredible lady,” he said to laughter from Macron. “It was very interesting talking to her, being with her for so many hours. I feel like I know her so well and she certainly knows me very well right now.”
Trump brought along his four adult children for the trip and was joined by more than a half-dozen senior staffers — nearly all of whom attended the lavish state banquet at Buckingham Palace on Monday night, at which they were seated among members of the royal household and Parliament.
One senior White House official claimed to have been approached by several U.K. officials who said they had rarely seen her majesty or her son Prince Charles so jovial in the company of a foreign leader.
Trump echoed that sentiment in his interview with Ingraham. “There are those that say they have never seen the queen have a better time, a more animated time,” he said.
Some of Trump’s remarks overseas underscored his tendency to make sweeping statements without first considering the consequences. During a news conference with British Prime Minister Theresa May, for example, Trump said “everything” would be on the table in post-Brexit trade talks, prompting fear of U.S. meddling in the U.K.’s National Health Service. And his tirades against London Mayor Sadiq Khan were comparable to the way he treats political opponents in Washington.
By the end of the trip, however, the consensus among Trump’s aides and allies seemed to be that the success of his visit, according to their view, might mitigate some of the domestic problems he continues to grapple with.
“By Trump’s own standards, he has not behaved particularly badly on this trip,” said Amanda Sloat, a former State Department official who covers European issues at the Brookings Institution. “He clearly enjoyed the pomp and circumstance of this visit, which was focused more on ceremony than substance.”
