Lindor, Mets Dominate Athletics
Wow, did Fransisco Lindor come up huge on Friday night in Oakland. The Mets superstar shortstop went 2-5 with a whopping seven RBI’s in the team’s 17-6 victory. Lindor first hit a Grand Slam in the second inning off of Athletics pitcher James Kaprielian. He later followed with a base clearing double, collecting three more RBI’s. He also walked once, Lindor is now slashing .245/.377/.531/.908…

Bimbo’s 365 was a fancy San Francisco supperclub during the Mob-run era of showbiz. Remarkably, the venue survives to this day.
Comedian Jackie Curtiss: The 365 had the "Girl in the Fishbowl." I don't know if you know about that. It was a famous thing.
Comedian Ronnie Schell: Bimbo's 365 was a Vegas type venue. They had showgirls and they had commercial acts. A typical bill would be Mel Torme and Shecky Greene. It was like a Vegas nightclub with dinners and that.
Jackie Curtiss: They had this in their lobby - a fishbowl with a nude girl about four inches tall that swam around. Down below, out of sight, there was a velvet turntable and a nude girl would lay on it. They used one of these reverse lenses where if you look in one end - everything is big, and through the other end - everything is tiny. It was a major draw for people to come to the club to see "The Girl in the Fishbowl."
Comedian Lou Marsh: I did a show with Frank Sinatra for his fiftieth birthday at Bimbo's.
Ronnie Schell: I worked there while I was on Gomer Pyle. I worked there with Al Martino for a month in December 1968.
Comedian John Barbour: I had worked Bimbo's in San Francisco, which was sort of a "hood-ish" club. I worked there with Dionne Warwick. There was some guy from the William Morris office who took umbrage at one of my jokes and talked Dionne Warwick into canceling me from the Copacabana.
Jackie Curtiss: I had an affair with “The Girl in the Fishbowl.” We'd turn out the lights and we'd make it right on that turntable.

Okay basic questions time before I get a bunch of anon asks
“Two of these are women.”
Father figures also count
“Some of these doesn’t have their own kids”
See point 1
“Why is there only a few characters from the same franchise going against each other but sometimes they aren’t”
Because I only recognized fire emblem, Pokémon, and JJBA at first.
“Aus doesn’t count”
As a previous undertale fan. I could care less. And I am not replacing Tim with BAMSE.
“Replace x with Bamse”
Sorry but. Findus and Skalman have already won. 3 times are a bit too much for us sweds.
“911 is copaganda”
You see Brooklyn 911 (picked by wheel) and you go against fireback mountain. Shame on you anon.
“Dad council these aren’t all random”
Yeah but Neon J vs Wubbox = chaos
Code of conduct
EXTRA BATTLE

I saw your one post and will absolutely be intrigued to hear more about some upcoming MotA OCs if you’re interested! ☺️ I know we are all getting very excited about the end of January release haha! :)
I am trying so hard - SO HARD - not to be that person who starts writing fic before the show even starts.
But my brain keep coming back to this scene where Cord - and I know it's Cordelia because it just is - is running from …somewhere to yell at John Egan, and he's just smiling at her while she does it. She's wearing trousers, because of course she is, she's got places to be and stuff to do, and she's shoving him backwards like she's got something to prove, and he's just laughing and taking it until she's done giving him a piece of her mind, and then he makes a joke about just kissing him already, which really sets her off.
It's obviously outside - there's lots of people around, and he's aware of that, and entertained by that, more than she is. Maybe they're coming home from somewhere? Maybe he had a messy landing? In my head he's got his crusher cap on, but maybe there's a life vest and flight suit and bomber jacket, too. There's a lot of affection here, from both of them, and it just manifests in different ways. He's not secretive with his - I don't think she quite knows the extent of hers yet.
Cord Callaway grew up on a factory floor in Dayton, Ohio, helping her dad test planes for Curtiss-Wright. While she's a fine pilot in her own right, she joins the WAC knowing that learning to read a radar screen or run a control tower are the best ticket she'll get to getting into the war.

Today I got a bit teary eyed when I read about Lieutenant Thomas Selfridge’s death. Tom was a member of the Aerial Experiment Association, a group founded by Alexander Graham Bell that included Glenn Curtiss. I have been researching the AEA for a couple of days and I knew that Tom was the first air casualty in the U.S. but reading the details about the airplane crash that killed him really hit me in the feels. I know I’m not the only historian who has found themself mourning someone who died over 100 years earlier. I guess we’re just weird that way.

Four in-house Bullpen Options
Bullpen? That will probably look the most different out of any part of the Mets roster. With an off-season where the Mets have 6 of their main 8 bullpen arms from 2022, becoming free agents, there is a lot of questions about the bullpen. In a recent article I mentioned one arm the Mets should accept a mutual option on, but it’s still a question if Givens will accept. Right now the Mets have two…

My Own Private Idaho (Gus Van Sant, 1991)
Cast: River Phoenix, Keanu Reeves, James Russo, William Richert, Rodney Harvey, Chiara Caselli, Michael Parker, Jessica Makinson, Flea, Grace Zabriskie, Udo Kier, Tom Troupe, Sally Curtice. Screenplay: Gus Van Sant, based on plays by William Shakespeare. Cinematography: John J. Campbell, Eric Alan Edwards. Production design: David Brisbin. Film editing: Curtiss Clayton. Music: Bill Stafford.
When is a cult film not a cult film? The term is bandied about so often, that I have to protest when people use it about My Own Private Idaho, which seems to me to transcend the label. To my mind, a cult film is one that reaches an enthusiastic audience despite its apparent limitations as a serious work of film art. They Live, for example, John Carpenter's 1988 movie, is a cult film because it's part of a genre, the horror/sci-fi flick, looked down on by “serious” critics, made on a shoestring, with some really awful acting and cheesy production values, but carrying a potent subtext that continues to be appreciated by audiences years after others in its subgenre have been forgotten. What lifts My Own Private Idaho above cult level is its wit and intelligence, which should have been obvious from the start, and the sheer brilliance with which its director and actors carry off its audaciously ironic vision of what lesser filmmakers would have treated with message-movie earnestness: The lives of street hustlers. Gus Van Sant's decision to work in an analogy with the coterie surrounding Falstaff in Shakespeare's Henry IV, Parts I and II, and Henry V is a stroke of genius. (Shakespeare is credited -- tongue-in-cheek, I think -- with “additional dialogue,” even though most of the borrowings are paraphrased into contemporary English.) But it's only the most obvious of the film's surprises, which multiply with every viewing. My Own Private Idaho will also continuously engender a sense of loss, from what may be River Phoenix's finest performance, as the narcoleptic lost boy, hopelessly in love with Keanu Reeves's controlled and conniving Scott, a character that makes its own wry comment on Shakespeare's Prince Hal.
