Some artists that I think Arthur would really like cuz I'm kinda bored(aka, an excuse to show art history):
John Singer Sargent (1856-1925):
John Singer Sargent is an icon and his composition is legendary. He wasn't that focused on very intense detail as he was with form and it's amazing what he was able to do. Eye catching, yet unrendered. Realistic, yet simplistic. Though he paintings were phenomenal, I think Arthur would enjoy his charcoal portraits the most, though. They are so beautiful and I feel like Arthur would be fascinated by how Sargent was able to use tones to give the allusion of detail rather than actually drawing out the detail. I think Arthur would adore how Sargent made them feel so real with how simplistic the composition is.
Tumblr media Tumblr media
Thomas Moran (1837-1926):
Thomas Moran is a landscape artist whose main muse was the vast American frontier. His most famous paintings are that of Yellowstone National Park and the gorgeous Grand Canyon. His oil paintings are colorful and vibrant and have so much emotion to them. Given that Arthur is often outdoors and is super connected to nature, he'd probably really enjoy Moran's oil paintings of higher elevation like canyons and mountains.
Tumblr media Tumblr media
Alexandre Cabanel (1823-1889):
Alexandre Cabanel is a portrait artist who created some of the most iconic oil paintings to have ever graced our eyes. His academic style of painting focused a lot on detail and precise rendering, unlike Sargent. Given the general gloominess and the melodrama of his oil paintings, I feel like Arthur would really like the figures that Cabanel painted, especially considering how emotional they are. Arthur, being emotionally repressed, might connect even more with them because of it. Cabanel was a damn genius.
Tumblr media Tumblr media
Ulysses S. Grant (1822-1825):
I know some of y'all are like "what the hell is Civil War hero and US President Ulysses S. Grant doing on this list?" Well, cuz he was a pretty dope artist too. In the few drawings we have from him, his main medium seems to be watercolor and his watercolor drawings are really unique. They focused more on composition than detail and they remind me so much of Arthur's own drawings, except they are in watercolor rather than lead or charcoal. I think Arthur might also enjoy how personal they all feel and how simplistic.
Tumblr media Tumblr media
Winslow Homer (1836-1910):
Homer was an impressionist painter whose main muse was the everyday man and woman. His oil paintings are vibrant and full of life as they depict the everyday life of workers rather than people of leisure. Unrendered strokes from the brush put so much personality into the paintings and even life. Beautiful and bright paintings, all of them, but I feel like Arthur would connect most with the ones that depict land rather than the ones that depict water.

Jim Moriarty is a tricky man to work for, yet you do. After meeting you while you were a seventeen year old that had gotten involved with the wrong crowd, he had seen potential in you. So, after some training from his right hand man, Sebastian Moran, you became one of his best. He even gave you a nickname, Spike, after your personality. When you initially started working for him, you were quite spunky and talked back whenever you felt like it. Now that you’re older and have worked in his organisation for a couple of years, you’ve mellowed out a bit when it comes to business and listening to Jim. Now, you’re a ruthless assassin that will do whatever you’re told to by a certain Irishman in the blink of an eye. Currently, you’re on your way to his estate out of town. The sleek car that picked you up is quite lavish, something you’d somewhat grown used to as he tends to enjoy showing off. You watch the trees flash by you as the car speeds up while music plays through your earbuds. It had been a while since you last were at the estate, as you’d been out of the country for business the past couple of months. The car eventually comes to a halt and you quietly get out.
‘My dearest Spike,’ Jim smiles when you step into his office, ‘it has been a while hasn’t it?’ ‘It has, sir.’ You smile back at him. ‘Business in Hong Kong has been settled without too much issue.’ You glance at Sebastian entering the room. ‘The target has been eliminated and you are now in control of the biggest criminal network.’ Moriarty’s smile turns into a grin. ‘That is wonderful to hear, I didn’t expect any less from you.’ His face suddenly becomes serious again and he turns to Moran. ‘Sebastian, do you have the files I requested?’ The other man only nods before putting the files onto the desk. ‘Good, good.’ He starts looking through before his eyes turn to you once again. ‘Spikey dear, come here. I want you to look through these documents and photographs today, I have a new assignment for you.’ You approach the table and file which is filled to the brim. There’s mostly pictures of and reports about consulting detective Sherlock Holmes. Jim walks around the desk and stands next to you on your right, while Sebastian is already on your left. ‘I want you to get close to Sherlock Holmes and his Brother, Mycroft.’ He points out a picture of the two of them. ‘Keep and eye on them for me. Gather as much information as you possibly can, I do not care how, as long as you don’t reveal your identity.’ Turning to him, you finally look the shorter man  in the eye. ‘Of course sir.’ Sebastian shoves another file into your hands before he starts talking. ‘We’ve arranged for a new identity so you’ll be able to fly under the radar. Name: Charlie Moore, age: 27, occupation: intelligence analyst at Scotland Yard. Any other information you may deem necessary can be found in this file. You’ll move into 221C Baker Street tomorrow morning. We’ve already arranged for you to be able to stay there.’  That night you spent looking through the files that were given to you. Sherlock and Mycroft both seem quite interesting in their own rights. Sherlock is a high functioning sociopath that seems to get a thrill out of showing off his intellect and skills to others. His skill is quite incredible, but nothing you hadn’t seen from Jim before. Besides, deduction is a skill a person is able to learn, quite easily in fact. You’d been taught by Sebastian when you first joined Moriarty’s organisation, though your skills have been sharpened over time, with some help from the Irishman himself when he thought you could do better. Now, you rival Sherlock’s speed and skill when it comes to deduction. Still, you understand why your boss is such a fan, that is what he calls it anyway. You think it’s more of an obsession. Contrary to his brother, Mycroft doesn’t seem to enjoy showing off as obviously as Sherlock does, yet he does enjoy flexing his power from time to time. The files you possess show how Sherlock’s newest acquaintance had been picked up by the man’s secretary multiple times and driven to an ominous location so he could talk to John. Supposedly, he offers money to those that get close to his brother, so you’d be keeping that in mind. It does become clear, however, that Mycroft didn’t just hold a minor position within the British government. Clearly he, like your boss, constantly keeps an eye on the consulting detective.
The following morning you arrive at Baker Street using a cab, so as to not have any suspicions arise. You have two suitcases, mostly holding clothes, books, and other essentials. Your larger weapons have already been delivered to and hidden in your new flat, so you don’t have to worry about those. After knocking on the door, you’re greeted by Mrs. Hudson, your new landlady. ‘Good morning dear, you must be the new tenant.’ She smiles brightly. ‘Yes, very nice to meet you Mrs Hudson.’ You smile back and stick out your hand for her to shake it. She does so before letting you in. Before she leaves you be in the flat, to which some basic furniture had already been delivered, courtesy of Jim, she warns you about your upstairs neighbours. ‘I do hope you’ve read the warning about the noise carefully dear. Sherlock can be quite a lot with his antics.’ Despite not being too worried about the noise, having had to deal with plenty of situations which were significantly worse than a single man could accomplish, you make sure to assure her you’ll be fine. ‘Yes, of course Mrs Hudson. Noise does not tend to bother me very much and I’ll be away for work during the day, so I suppose I should be fine.’ You smile at her again before closing your door and starting to unpack. It is Sunday morning, so you want to try and unpack most of your things before the start of the workweek, tomorrow is your first day at Scotland Yard after all. Before you start unpacking though, you put in your earbuds and put on Radiohead’s album In Rainbows.
The day went by without much issue, or noise from the upstairs neighbours. Probably because Sherlock was on a case, as your employer had let you know. During that time, you’d hidden the last of your weapons in places which aren't deductible and gotten your image in check. Your persona was quite a boring one to be fair, and while there’s always a hint of truth in them to make it believable, your own life has a lot more excitement and risk. Still, that is something you have to intentionally hide from the brothers and their acquaintances. Looking at your watch, you decide it’s time to go to the shops, as you’d be likely to arrive once Sherlock’s already back and you’d have a reason to introduce yourself. ‘Bye Mrs Hudson. I’ll be back in a few.’ You close the door behind you and head out. When you return with a bag of food, you’re met by two men standing at the door. You immediately recognise them as Sherlock Holmes and Dr John Watson. ‘Excuse me, could you please step aside so I can get to my flat?’ You deliberately make your voice softer and quieter than it usually is as to come across as somewhat shy. The doctor steps aside without much hesitation while the detective just turns around and starts trying to deduce you. ‘You must be the new tenant. Nice to meet you, I’m John Watson.’ The short man smiles at you. You shake his hand before introducing yourself and turning to the taller man, though he isn’t much taller than you. ‘Sherlock Holmes, consulting detective.’ He looks you over once again. ‘You’re in the police force but no officer, your nails are too clean for that. You’re dressed as if you have a new job despite it being a Sunday, you’ve only brought clothes you wear to work, which means you don’t go out much or meet people in your free time. You prefer listening to music and reading books to social interactions.’ You feign surprise but are glad, those were all the markers you’d set for him to read. He turns around and heads up the stairs to 221B. ‘I’ll see you at Scotland Yard tomorrow.’ John quickly turns to you and apologises for his friend’s behaviour before following him up the stairs. He’s certainly a character. Didn’t notice a thing though. -S
I told you so, and that’s why I wanted you to do this. -JM
I’ll keep you updated. -S

One Night in Palermo: Chapter 1
Hi, Everyone! I haven't done this in ages and I hope you'll all jump on board again for another story. It's 18 months after Sherlock jumped from Bart's and he's busily taking down Moriarty's web. He's also pining and worried for John, who thinks he's dead. Sherlock's trying to make his way to the Moran, the web's center, when another assassin comes on the scene. Find out what happens!
----------
One year to the day Sherlock leapt off Bart’s, his best friend watching in horror, found him creeping into a dank warehouse in the middle of Belgrade, Serbia. The dead detective had been all over the country in the last year, as well as those sharing its borders. Hungary and Romania, Bulgaria, North Macedonia, Croatia, Bosnia and Herzegovina, and Montenegro; all extensively traveled in the name of destroying Moriarty’s web of terrorists and murderers. He had just come through Kosovo from an assignment in Albania and tomorrow would take him to yet another location.
James Morairty may have died on the roof of Bart’s one year ago, but his criminal organization remained intact and Sherlock could not rest until Greg Lestrade, John Watson, and the beloved Martha Hudson were safe. Then maybe he could return to his old life of London and 221B and cases and John. Sherlock missed John most of all and had not been dead long before realizing the true extent of his feelings for his flatmate. Every moment not chasing down Moriarty’s criminals was spent wondering about John and what he was doing, or how he was doing. Worse yet, he dreamt of his flatmate as well, and they were becoming increasingly explicit in nature.
Sherlock gave a slight shake of his head to clear it. This was certainly not the time to go down that route of thinking. Mycroft’s intelligence indicated ten men in this building, making Sherlock’s full attention to the matter at hand imperative. The year’s assignments marked the longest period of time the detective had ever worked with his brother and there was at least another year to go before it would end. Remarkably, it had not been utterly intolerable as Sherlock had expected. Mycroft understood how Sherlock’s mind worked and gave him only the relevant information for each assignment. They met over virtual calls on a secured platform after each assignment was finished to discuss the next. Sherlock had needed serious medical attention on only two occasions and was immediately taken to a secret facility possessing everything required to address his injuries. The same short, blonde doctor cared for him each time, no doubt hand-selected by Mycroft to ensure Sherlock’s cooperation. The elder Holmes even made an appearance in both situations to make sure his baby brother was all right. He did not make himself tiresome either, much to Sherlock’s surprise, despite spending quite a lot of time by the detective’s side the second time around.
Sherlock had been caught during his last visit to Serbia. His captors quickly determined the usefulness of keeping him alive, but had no compunction with torturing him for the six weeks before his rescue. Mycroft even deigned to perform the extraction himself, he and his team infiltrating the base and killing every man in the bunker before carrying Sherlock out. It was at least a week before the detective could hold his eyes open for more than a few blurry moments at a time. When his senses and powers of deduction had returned, Sherlock was certain Mycroft had not left his side once. Oddly, the two brothers had grown closer as they worked together, but neither spoke of nor acknowledged it.
Having found no one in the warehouse thus far, Sherlock proceeded down a long hallway that led to a large meeting room. Intelligence supplied by Mycroft’s spies had shown it was where the ten men spent most of their time. A door at the left side of the room opened into an office used by a man named Markovič, the indisputable leader of this terrorist cell. He had worked closely with Moriarty on more than one occasion and murdered countless people around the world.
Two other doors entered the meeting room; one that opened to a hallway of small rooms wherein the men slept and the one Sherlock was steadily approaching. The ideal situation for Sherlock was finding all ten men in the meeting room. Slightly less ideal, was Markovič in his office and the other men in the meeting room. Some of them having a kip in their individual rooms was the least ideal, but this time of night typically saw them all together planning the events of the following day. Regardless, Sherlock was prepared for any eventuality, or so he thought.
Sherlock slowed his step as he approached the room’s half-open door, rendering his footfalls completely silent. While each of the ten men was a very skilled killer, all were also dim-witted. Even Markovič, though intelligent, was no more than slightly above average. Sherlock knew his appearance would be surprising, but once the first few shots were fired, he would have to act quickly to avoid retaliation. A scant few feet from the door, Sherlock angled his body for the best view of its occupants and what he saw boggled his mind.
Eight men lay sprawled on the floor, face down on the table, or slumped back in chairs. All of them were covered with blood still oozing from pin-point bullet holes in chests, throats, or heads. None of these men had a chance to do more than consider reaching for their own weapons before they dropped. Sherlock analyzed the scene and deduced the events as they had happened while he moved through the room to Markovič’s office.
The door was also ajar. Sherlock pushed it open slowly, already knowing what he would find. Markovič was sat at his desk, leaning back unnaturally in the chair. His eyes were wide open and unseeing as they stared blankly at the ceiling. A hole was perfectly placed in his forehead, creating an isosceles triangle with his eyes. Blood stained his face where it ran down his nose and cheeks, over his throat to soak his shirt. Significant spatter and gray matter decorated the wall behind him in a sickly red glow.
Without delay, Sherlock went to the third door in the meeting room to check bedrooms for the final missing man. Finding him was not difficult. The first door in the hall was the only one open, so Sherlock let himself in cautiously. He found the man on the floor in a pool of blood, bedsheets twisted around one leg, and a pistol held loosely in one hand. He had obviously been only halfway out of bed when the door was kicked open and fired one shot quickly, the evidence of which marred the door frame next to Sherlock’s left shoulder. The intruder had not done more than twitch his head slightly to the side before expertly placing a bullet in the man’s forehead and watching him drop.
*****
Hours later, Sherlock sat at a desk in a safe house across the border in Hungary. He had changed into jeans and a plain t-shirt in dark green. His eyes were fixed on the screen of a laptop as he waited for his brother to accept the call. When the connection was made, it was Anthea’s face that appeared instead of Mycroft’s.
“Sherlock,” she greeted him. She looked tired. Perhaps the last year had weighed heavily on her shoulders as well. “He wasn’t expecting you for another hour.”
“Nor was I,” Sherlock replied dryly. “The assignment did not go as anticipated.”
“But you’re alright? It’s done?” Anthea asked with a touch of concern in her voice. The two of them had become far better acquainted over the course of Sherlock’s assignments and now had a certain rapport.
“Unconditionally,” Sherlock answered and watched as the subtle creases at the corners of her eyes smoothed away, only for them to return when he asked, “how is John?”
Anthea opened her mouth to reply, but Mycroft entered the room before she said a word. He moved to the screen swiftly and sat, studying Sherlock’s face. He was wearing his usual three-piece suit minus the jacket, and his sleeves were rolled up. A haggard expression dominated his features, but a sense of overall relief washed over them at seeing Sherlock in one piece. Mycroft let the indifference that hid whatever modicum of emotion he had slide into place and sat ramrod straight, his typical persona fully recovered.
“You were able to complete the mission,” Mycroft said with only the hint of a question in his tone.
“In a matter of speaking, yes,” Sherlock replied vaguely.
Mycroft cocked an elegant brow and leaned in.
“What do you mean?” He asked with keen interest.
“I found the bodies of all ten men upon entering the warehouse,” Sherlock said simply.
“An opposing faction?” Mycroft speculated, sounding unconvinced.
“No,” Sherlock said flatly, “it was precise and clean. None of the torture and delay seen between these enemies. A single man walked in quietly, just as I did, and murdered them all with one shot each.
“He killed all eight men as he moved through the room, three before they could rise from the table. Markovič was in his office and posed no challenge to dispatch. The last was in a bedroom.”
Mycroft had narrowed his eyes while Sherlock spoke, considering each word carefully. When the detective finished, his brother raised his gaze to regard him in silent contemplation.
“The work of an assassin where there should only be one,” Mycroft muttered.
“Indeed,” Sherlock agreed, “and it had occurred within the hour.”
Mycroft caught Sherlock’s eye and considered him carefully.
“Sherlock,” his tone took on a condescending characteristic that always made the younger roll his eyes, “while the situation is unusual, it is not out of the realm of possibility.”
“Oh, please,” Sherlock began, but Mycroft cut him off quickly.
“You have a mission that cannot be delayed by a… mystery, no matter how intriguing,” Mycroft said snidely. “Need I remind you of its particular importance to you, brother mine?”
Sherlock closed his mouth with a snap and pressed his lips into a thin line. Closer though they may be, Sherlock hated his brother for consistently adopting this air of superiority at a perceived weakness.
“Fine,” Sherlock spat, “but you will find out who it was. If I’m known to this assassin, I want to know his every movement. I will not tolerate interference.”
“Of course, Sherlock,” Mycroft assured him smugly. “I will use every resource at my disposal.”
****
As confident as Mycroft had been, his channels found out nothing about the assassin in the coming weeks. No one was able to determine where the man came from or where he got his information. One thing became abundantly clear, however. He also seemed to be dismantling Moriarty’s criminal organization one piece at a time.
Sherlock completed two assignments over three weeks before encountering the assassin again. The circumstances were much the same as the first time. The target called Romania home and spent most of his time terrorizing every community within a fifty mile radius. He had assisted Moriarty several times over the last decade and had often welcomed the man into his home. If James Moriarty ever had anything even vaguely approaching a friend in his adult life, it would be this man.
Sherlock watched silently from the shadows as his target entered a small room and closed the door, leaving his guard outside in the dimly lit hall. They were inside a massage parlor not far from the man’s home. He spent four nights a week in this place, making rather dubious visits to a certain masseuse. Fortunately for Sherlock, the man’s guard made similar visits to the owner of the shop.
A quiet whistle echoed through the hall twenty minutes after Sherlock’s target entered the masseuse’s room. He watched as the guard looked right, then left, and then disappeared down the hall. Sherlock waited another five minutes to be sure the guard would not return before moving silently toward the door his target had entered. He stood next to it for a moment, his back to the wall, already knowing it was unlocked. He had spent the last seven days watching his target and tracking his movements. Sherlock knew every habit and routine in the man’s life, right down to leaving the door unlocked while he got a massage and a blow job so he could exit quickly if one of his enemies interrupted.
All Sherlock needed to do was open the door and pull the trigger. He had become quite a good markman over the last year and his gun was equipped with a silencer. He wouldn’t miss and no one would hear a thing. The only thing that made him hesitate was the masseuse. He had not yet decided what to do about her. He could kill her along with the target to prevent anyone being alerted by her screams, which were certain to follow her lover’s untimely demise. He could find some quick way to render her unconscious while she and the target were distracted. He could simply shoot his target and run, risking a successful escape. Sherlock was likely to be tortured if caught, a situation he could not afford. He scowled, the words ‘a bit not good’ echoing through his mind. The only option was knocking out the masseuse and hoping no one noticed him before he did it.
Sherlock looked up and down the hall, just as the guard had, and then moved to face the door. He twisted the knob silently with his left hand and pushed it open. The scene before him was nothing like he expected. Instead of finding the two of them fucking on the massage table, the woman was lying on the floor, unconscious and fully clothed. The target was clearly dead on the table, a bullet hole in his temple. Spatter decorated the wall next to the table and Sherlock could hear the quiet drip of blood as it fell from the headrest to the floor. Curious, he entered the room and squatted cautiously next to the woman. He might have risked touching her to find a pulse, but could see it clearly enough on her neck. The assassin had left her alive.
Sherlock’s gaze darted around the room until it came to rest on a small window near the top of the back wall, the only outside wall in the room. It opened on a hinge, a glass pane that lifted up and it was ajar. Several telltale scuffs left by opening and closing it marred the bottom of the pane. The assassin’s entrance and exit point.
Sherlock narrowed his eyes and stood. The guard would not return for another ten minutes, but the detective could not afford to be seen by anyone. He walked swiftly out the door and closed it behind him, looking up and down the hall again. Seeing no one, but hearing faint footsteps, he crept into the shadows to wait. Sherlock heard a faraway door open and the footsteps fade away slowly. After a few minutes of silence, he left the building and made his way to the next safe house.
A few hours later and a good two hundred miles away from the massage parlor, Sherlock stood in front of a laptop set in the small bedroom of a cozy flat. He had just relayed an account of the evening’s events to his elder brother and moved on to deductions made about the assassin. Mycroft’s less-than-enthusiastic response was quickly grating on Sherlock’s nerves.
“He has a conscience,” Sherlock argued vehemently. “He could have simply killed the woman, but chose not to.”
His brother’s unimpressed face looked back at him from the laptop screen, thoroughly unconvinced. Sherlock wished, just for a moment, that they were in the same room so he could grab Mycroft’s lapels and shake him.
“Very informative, brother mine, but I fail to see how it will help to find this mysterious assassin,” Mycroft intoned dismissively, glancing at his perfectly manicured nails.
“Finding him, no, but it goes a long way in determining what kind of man he is,” Sherlock sneered. “He is not a heartless killer and that tells us quite a bit.”
“Oh, very well,” Mycroft conceded impatiently. “He may not immediately put a bullet in your head should you meet, but will introduce himself first.”
Sherlock sighed loudly and rolled his eyes.
“I will take care of him,” Mycroft continued sternly and it rankled Sherlock. The tone was the same used to scold him as a child. “You concentrate on your assignments and put an end to this dreadful business so you can return to your precious doctor.”
“How is John?” Sherlock found himself saying. It wasn’t what he meant to say, but Mycroft’s words squeezed his chest so completely that saying anything else would have stopped his heart entirely. He hadn’t even been thinking about John and was blindsided by the rush of sentiment, though he tried to keep that hidden. Mycroft, for his part, looked very disconcerted at the slip. His frustration had gotten the better of him, something that happened far more often than he would like to admit since he and Sherlock began “this dreadful business”.
“Sherlock,” he said with a long suffering sigh.
“Don’t patronize me, Mycroft,” Sherlock snapped. “Just tell me what I want to know.”
“He is…unaltered,” Mycroft replied carefully.
“Unaltered?” Sherlock repeated through clenched teeth.
“I said unwell the last time you asked,” Mycroft straightened his spine and looked down his nose at his brother. “You have not returned to Baker Street. Do you imagine he is any different?”
Sherlock glared at his brother, blood boiling, but said nothing. He didn’t trust himself to speak. He knew his brother wanted to infuriate him. It was a distraction. Mycroft did not want to answer questions about John. It was nothing unusual, but affected Sherlock differently this time. Sherlock suddenly felt exhausted and homesick. Every bit of energy left his body. He was sick for John and if his brother didn’t want to talk about John, Sherlock had no desire to pry. He was not prepared to hear that the doctor had teetered ever closer to a crumbling precipice that might give way at any time.
“Fuck off, Mycroft,” Sherlock snarled. He shut the laptop forcefully just as his brother closed his eyes in disdain at the vulgar choice of words.
Sherlock paced furiously. He was restless and frustrated and frightened out of his mind. Dozens of storylines played out in his mind as he took each step. The most disturbing thought ended with John’s broken body on the pavement at Bart’s, the same place they had both been just over a year ago, and it made Sherlock’s heart stutter in his chest. He gasped at the pain and stumbled into the loo to be sick. He splashed water on his face once he could stand again without retching and tried to calm himself, but his chest only felt tighter. He buried his head in his hands and prayed to whatever deity would listen that John Watson be alright.
When Sherlock raised his head again, his movements were stilted and his face remote. He cleaned his teeth and changed into pajamas mechanically, getting into bed and turning out the lights. Staring into the darkness, he parted his lips and breathed slowly. If he didn’t let his thoughts out of his mind, didn’t give them life, his brain and heart would surely burst from his body.
“Wait for me, John,” he whispered into the darkness. “Please.”
****
The next time Sherlock ran into the assassin, the circumstances were quite different. It was three assignments from the last and in Montenegro. The target had not been difficult to finish, but her brother had spotted Sherlock as he made his escape and set off after him. They ran through the compound, ducking this way and that. Every corner the detective turned should have put more distance between the two, but the man behind only grew closer. Sherlock was getting tired and he knew it. On impulse, he ducked into a stairwell and barely tripped as he flew down the steps. He quickly pushed open the heavy wooden door he found there and hurried into an open courtyard full of towering shrubs and fountains. The moon shone brightly, dazzling stars surrounding it, lighting a path of escape. Unfortunately, the man following Sherlock was too close not to make a move for him.
The man dove for the detective and caught him around the waist with his arms. They went down hard, but Sherlock rolled swiftly and struck out at his attacker. They exchanged a few blows before strong hands wrapped around the detective’s throat. Without hesitation, he slid his own arms in-between his attacker’s and wrenched them outward. The other man’s elbows bent, giving Sherlock the leverage to pull his hands away and ram their foreheads together.
At first, only the other man was dazed, so Sherlock shoved him to the side and hopped to his feet. However, the after-effects caught up with him after one or two steps. Suddenly, his head swam and his sense of balance failed completely. Tumbling to his knees, Sherlock tried desperately not to fall any further. He gasped for breath and felt incredibly hot, but resisted the urge to tear the mask from his face. He preferred assignments that did not require a mask, ones where he could maintain a safe distance from targets and their associates. On this particular occasion, his passage through the compound could find him face to face with anyone and he could not be recognized.
Sherlock took a few deep breaths until his vision began to clear. Getting to his feet, he glanced around to check that his attacker had not similarly recovered. He saw nothing as rough hands grabbed his right arm and twisted it behind his back. A cold knife blade touched his throat before he could make any move to free himself. He was trapped. His mind raced, analyzing his options and discarding them; all the while, the blade pressed into his throat, breaking the skin ever so slightly. He nearly jolted at the sound of hoarse laughter in his ear.
“You thought you would get away?” The man holding Sherlock steady chuckled loudly. He pulled the blade more tightly and the detective winced. “You killed my sister, you son of a bitch.”
A gasp filled Sherlock’s lungs, but not for fear of his life as his attacker assumed. It was what he saw in the dark window in one of the tall buildings that lined the courtyard. A sight Sherlock never would have seen, if not for a glint of metal in the moonlight. As soon as he saw that flash of light, his eyes made out the figure of a man with a gun. Standing in the tall window was the assassin, covered in black from head to toe. His face and hair were covered with the usual balaclava. Any other details were lost to the darkness of his clothes and surroundings. His gun was aimed and ready, if the location of the reflection Sherlock had seen was anything to go by.
Sherlock stood very still, not even listening to the rants and threats from the man holding a knife to his throat. One way or another, Sherlock was going to die tonight. If the idiot behind him didn’t do it soon, he would be robbed of the pleasure by the assassin, who would certainly shoot them both. Sherlock could get away from only one of them, not both. He kept his eyes on the assassin as time ticked by and wondered why he hadn’t pulled the trigger twice already. The man couldn’t be weighing his options. It was simple: Aim and fire.
Just as Sherlock thought the word “fire”, a bright flash of light appeared from the assassin’s weapon and Sherlock felt a whoosh of air on his cheek. He expected pain or instant oblivion and got neither. The air around him was suddenly quiet and his mind registered his attacker’s hands going lax. The knife tumbled to the brick floor as the man leaned heavily against the detective’s back. Going down slowly, Sherlock maneuvered the man onto his back and looked at his face. There, between his unseeing eyes, was a perfectly placed bullet hole.
Sherlock’s head shot up to the window to see the assassin, but the man was gone. The pane held nothing but darkness. Without a second thought, the detective gathered himself and stood. It wouldn’t be long before his target’s body was discovered and the compound filled with people who would be happy to kill him. He crept through the courtyard and silently made his way out, encountering no one as he went.
Hours later, ensconced in one of Mycroft’s safe houses, Sherlock booted up the waiting laptop and entered his credentials. His mind was awash with deductions and questions and theories. If nothing else, the evening confirmed the standing deduction that the assassin had a strong moral compass. Quite a bit of additional data had been revealed as well, but Sherlock had not yet sorted through it. He needed to spend some time in his mind palace, arranging the pieces.
The laptop screen caught his eye when his brother’s face came into view. Sherlock had hoped to speak with Anthea first, but had no such luck. He leaned forward and placed his hands on either side of the keyboard, a posture he often adopted when speaking to his brother.
“The assassin was there,” Sherlock stated without preamble. “I beat him to the mark, but he was there.”
“And you know this because?” Mycroft asked with an arched brow.
“I had a knife to my throat and he shot the man holding it,” Sherlock replied without hesitation.
Mycroft’s eyes widened and he leaned in closer to his own laptop.
“He saw you?” He probed with an edge to his voice.
“Not as such. I was wearing a mask. My whole head was covered,” Sherlock answered evenly. “There was nothing to give me away. I was merely a man in distress.”
He could see his brother relax a fraction and then noticed that his eyes were locked on the small bandage Sherlock had fitted to his own neck. The detective furrowed his brow and shook his head dismissively.
“It’s fine,” he told Mycroft in a dull tone. “Superficial. I’ll be able to go without the bandage in the morning.”
“Good,” Mycroft approved, looking more at ease. “That is to say, I am glad you are safe. I must admit, however, I am somewhat troubled by the assassin’s actions. Surely killing you both would have been more to his advantage.”
“Precisely,” Sherlock replied with satisfaction. “It would’ve been easier as well; hitting my attacker with pinpoint accuracy to ensure his demise before he cut my throat requires much more skill than shooting us both. It proves my point.”
“That the assassin has a conscience,” Mycroft supplied in a long-suffering tone. He sighed. “Sherlock, you are a romantic.”
“I most certainly am not!” Sherlock objected, his good mood quashed in the blink of an eye. “I have merely analyzed the data and reached the logical conclusion, as I have in countless other situations.”
He glared at his brother, who returned the look with a smug smile on his face. Sherlock didn’t feel the need to continue the conversation because his pig-headed brother would not relent. He never had before and would not start now. Growing weary of him, Sherlock rolled his eyes.
“Tell me about the next assignment,” he demanded, wanting nothing more than to move the call along so he could retreat to his mind palace.
“Yes, of course. Let’s get down to business, shall we?” Mycroft smirked and began debriefing Sherlock on the next target, The detective both listened and imagined how best to have revenge upon his return to London.
****
The following assignment was easily completed in as much as it was finished before Sherlock even arrived. Four days after Montenegro, the detective stealthily entered a caravan dealership that was closed for the day. His target and a small band of men in his employ had taken refuge there, believing no one would find them. After entering the dealership, Sherlock followed music lilting through the air until he reached an extra-long caravan, knowing what he would find before reaching it. While the music played loudly, the absence of all other noise led him to one inevitable conclusion: The assassin had been faster this time.
Five of the six men Sherlock expected lay dead in the caravan’s central room. It occupied more or less the entire vehicle, housing a kitchenette along one side, a narrow couch and table on the other. Two seats and the steering column filled the front of the room, windscreen before them. A small loo cut into the back of the room with closets opposite. In between the two was a narrow hallway that led to a bedroom. Judging by the positions of the men and the angles of the bullets that killed them, the assassin had come from the hallway. He must have climbed in a bedroom window and used the element of surprise.
Sherlock moved cautiously into the bedroom, expecting to find the body of the sixth man, but the room was empty. It was also a mess. A lengthy struggle had clearly taken place in the cramped room and Sherlock could read it all in the broken and overturned furniture. The upper hand had shifted a few times throughout the fight. A stray shot was fired once, twice, and then Sherlock’s eyes came to rest on a piece of bloody glass lying on the floor near a cabinet on the far side of the room. He went to it in three long strides. It was part of a broken mirror that had been affixed to the wall above a waist-height cabinet. One of the two men had grabbed hold of it and stabbed the other, but which was which? Sherlock’s eyes tracked their movements through drips and smears of blood. The injured man eventually broke free and tumbled out the room’s only open window. The other man must have followed because the caravan door would have been left open had he used it.
Gun still at the ready, Sherlock hurried out the door and around to the back of the caravan. He walked silently along the trail of blood and shoe prints. More and more of the sticky, red substance stained the concrete as he went. There wasn’t enough to indicate that the injured man was bleeding out, but was still a troubling amount. Sherlock quickened his pace, anxious to learn which man was injured. He found himself hoping it was not the assassin. It made little sense, but he felt some odd camaraderie with the man. They did seem to have the same goal and were inextricably linked by it.
Sherlock wove his way through the parking lot, around one caravan and another, until he turned a corner and stopped dead. Twenty feet ahead of him, next to a chain link fence, was the body of a man. He was on his back and was obviously dead. Sherlock’s throat went dry and he quickened his pace. He and the assassin had narrowly missed one another for almost three months. They didn’t know the other’s identity and hadn’t even been in the same room together, but had come to expect one another. At least, Sherlock had. He supposed the same might not be true of the assassin, but he liked to think it was, especially after Montenegro. The man had blatantly made the decision not only to save, but also spare Sherlock’s life and the resulting sentiment had softened his heart toward the man. The detective would have considered these feelings a weakness in the past. Now, he saw it in a completely different light. The assassin gave him something familiar to look for, to count on. He couldn’t have John or home, but could at least have something, though it paled in comparison.
Sherlock was jogging by the time he reached the dead man. He couldn’t see his head properly until he stood right next to him. Once he did, Sherlock breathed a sigh of relief. The man before him was not wearing a mask of any kind, nor was there one near the body. Instead, he matched the description of one of the six men Sherlock was sent to kill. The assassin had escaped.
Relief quickly turned to trepidation, however, as he got a better look at the dead man. He had no stab wounds on his body and looked to have been killed by blunt-force trauma. Sherlock’s eyes darted around the scene, picking out a heavy metal bar and more blood. He followed a trail of it with his eyes for a short distance. It led to, and passed through, an old opening in the chain link fence. Something had weakened the links and broken through long ago. The assassin must have used it to sneak inside or he would not have known to use it as an escape. Sherlock looked as far beyond the fence as he could see, but saw no body and no large pools of blood. It seemed the assassin had escaped, indeed. But how far had he gotten and how badly was he injured?
When he recounted the night’s events later for Mycroft, Sherlock left out the possible extent of the assassin’s injuries and hid his concern for the man. He knew precious little about the man. It made no sense for Sherlock to feel at all connected to him and yet, here he was. He couldn’t stop himself from viewing the connection as a separate but united force against what was left of Moriarty. As such, not knowing the assassin’s fate unsettled Sherlock in a way he couldn’t explain and he hoped their paths would cross again soon.
****
The next assignment was long and tedious. Sherlock spent nearly three weeks just garnering enough trust through various acts of theft and bullying as assigned by the target’s second in command to even be told the target’s location. He then spent another six days planning out how to neutralize successfully. His frustration grew day by day at having to waste an entire month on this one target, lengthening his time away from John. John, who he knew was struggling. His last few conversations with Anthea were vague at best, but informative enough to know that John’s grief had renewed.
The knowledge slowed Sherlock’s progress with the assignment and he knew it. He couldn’t bring himself to care. He would rather know at least something about John and be distracted than know nothing at all. He dreamt of his friend every night again; comforting him and assuring John he would be home again. He awoke each morning with renewed vigor at having spent the time with John, even if only in his mind. Part of him hoped dreams did the same for John, but they more likely only discouraged him. Sherlock had the advantage of knowing they would meet again, whereas he was dead in John’s world. Sherlock tried to ignore the regret and guilt that ate at him for it.
Motivated by the desire to end his exile and return home to John, Sherlock lost his patience and brought the assignment to an abrupt end. While in the target’s bunker for a debriefing, Sherlock broke into his office and waited. Nearly two hours later, the man and his second opened the door. Sherlock greeted them politely with one bullet each and left as fast as he could.
His work done, after the agonizingly long month, Sherlock wanted nothing more than to move on to the next assignment. He grimaced as he logged onto the secure server he and Mycroft used to communicate, knowing his brother would berate him for his slowness. Maybe Sherlock would get lucky and Anthea would debrief him. He hoped as he pushed enter and waited, then sighed when Mycroft’s smug face came into view.
“Mycroft,” Sherlock murmured in greeting, saying nothing else. Mycroft more than made up for it.
“Good evening, Sherlock. I am glad to see you have finally finished your assignment. I was beginning to think that your target had persuaded you to stay on,” Mycroft’s snide words pushed Sherlock over the edge. The last thread tethering his frustration over the assignment snapped and he nearly swept the laptop off the table.
“Fuck off, Mycroft!” Sherlock shouted. “You know this is not how I wanted it to go. Just tell me about the next assignment and go back to your cake. I wouldn’t want to keep you from your greatest pleasure.”
“Sherlock, has it really come to this?” Mycroft began with an epic eye roll.
“You started it!” Sherlock interrupted. “Just tell me what I want to know.”
“In due time, brother mine,” Mycroft dismissed Sherlock’s anger out of course, “I have come into some information about your mythical assassin.”
“Oh, yes, perfect. Just what I want to know,” Sherlock snarked back, crossing his arms. “Tell me, Mycroft, how many assignments has he completed while I’ve been stuck on just one?”
“On the contrary,” Mycroft said blandly. “It seems both of you have succeeded in doing nothing. I have no indication he has made any movements during the last forty-two days.”
It was then that Sherlock remembered the trail of blood he had followed so long ago and the strange sense of loneliness he had felt. He had mentioned neither to Mycroft after that assignment.
“He was injured,” Sherlock stated almost without thinking, “in that caravan dealership in Skopje. I followed a trail of blood. He must need time to recover.”
“You failed to mention that in the debriefing,” Mycroft answered, his tone rife with skepticism.
“It was not relevant,” Sherlock replied haughtily.
“Wasn’t it?” Mycroft speculated. “Hm. I wonder.”
“Is there a point to this, Mycroft?” Sherlock snapped, growing tired of the conversation. His brother had a certain knack for analyzing his motives at the most inconvenient times.
“Could it have been a more serious injury, brother mine?” Mycroft continued calmly, unfazed by his baby brother’s outburst. “We have no evidence of him at all in the time between today and that night. Could he have been neutralized?”
“Neutral- he’s not our enemy, Mycroft,” Sherlock countered. “He saved my life.”
“Because doing so suited his purpose,” Mycroft supplied, condescension slipping into his tone. “You are very obviously on a path similar to his own. Why would he want that assistance to end?”
Mycroft was right. It was only logical for the assassin to keep Sherlock alive so the man didn’t have to hit every target himself. The detective had allowed sentiment to color his views of the assassin and if Mycroft didn’t know before, he certainly did now. Damn him.
“No,” Sherlock gave a slight shake of his head after a moment of thought, “there wasn’t enough blood for the injury to have been life-threatening. He will appear again. Just give him time.”
Mycroft pressed his lips into a thin line and took a deep breath through his nose. He had more to say, but obviously debated on whether to do it now or save it. Sherlock knew Mycroft had chosen not to wait the moment his lips parted.
“You will have to deal with him one day,” Mycroft said carefully. “The time will come when you are no longer useful to him.”
Sherlock fought not to roll his eyes. As if he hadn’t considered that particular inevitability already.
“I will handle that when the time comes, not before,” Sherlock said flatly.
****
As if on cue, Sherlock found his next target in a private train compartment with a bullet in his head. They were on a train in Hungary. The man’s two most trusted associates were at his side, also shot dead. The assassin was back.
The corner of Sherlock’s mouth curled as he stood in the compartment’s doorway. He gave a subtle salute to the scene, closed the door, and casually walked back to his own compartment. As he went, he was filled with a sense of satisfaction and hope. With his own efforts coupled with those of the assassin, his timetable would change for the better and he could return home to John earlier than expected. Mycroft may have been right about an eventual confrontation between Sherlock and the assassin, but until then they would each enjoy the other’s usefulness without question.
****
Another handful of assignments came and went, Sherlock and the assassin working in tandem, but never encountering one another. Shortly after leaving another scene in which the assassin beat him to the mark, Sherlock calculated their joint progress once again and found that their current rate would see him back in London a full four months early. He was delighted.
A particularly successful month for both of them resulted in another revision of the time required. They had shaved off a few more weeks, much to Sherlock’s satisfaction. That was how, at eighteen months post-Fall, Sherlock found himself in Palermo, Sicily with only two targets remaining before he could return home to London and his life.
------
I know it was a long one, but I hope you enjoyed it. Thank you so much for reading and for all your support! I've missed you all so much! Tune in next week for chapter 2 and remember, keep your stick on the ice. We're all in this together.
Love, Jane

I watched Musicals of Moriarty (Op1-3) and those were amazing, everything I wished anime had in matter of plot and characters was there. And no I don’t mean Truck of the sherliam that Musicals have (it’s nice add and I love it, but if they didn’t go so hard for it I would be still happy) because it had what I think was important in manga, small details of story and characters that made me love Moriarty so much now. Like the matter of taxes in Durham and how William fixed it right away to help poor, overworked people living there. I really don’t like how anime makes him for first few episodes “the devil” who only whispers on others ears and pushes them to kill and he himself doesn’t dirty his hands. He always put himself on the first line of his plans, like with “Kidnapping of noble” chapter, he kills Albert’s brother on his own etc. Like how Baskerville arc was SO important for Louis, Fred and Moran characters. Like in anime because of lack of it you can change those three to any other characters and it wouldn’t matter. Miss Hutson is amazing in musicals, gosh, poor women, how she didn’t get a stroke or heart attack yet I don’t know XD and musical doesn’t skip on that scene between her and Irene with dress that I found quite funny when I first read it in manga and thought this adds a lot to both women characters.
You know you did wrong when your anime has less action scenes then musical... Like really, the person who did script for anime did so many strange changes to plot and cut so many important ones while adding own one it's crazy and I have no idea why it happened.
As for character, the best from the start was Sherlock for me, he’s amazing.  I think Liam's one was little too stiff and not enough emotional in Op1-2 but in Op3 he finally is perfect Liam, smiling, hurting, sassy and I think his vocal got better. As for other characters they were amazing too. I only couldn’t get used to William and Albert but only because their anime saiyuus did so amazing job. Louis had the best vocal at the start I think. From songs I think the middle one in Op2 made most impression for me, I need to rewatch it and remember names of songs for future. The “Catch me if you can” scene in the musical was the only one weaker I think in compare to anime and manga, but when at the end of Op2 they come back to theme “Catch me” it did earned a few points back in my eyes. And wow Op3 songs were so much longing of William and Sherlock to each other it’s just wow, I didn’t think they will go so hard for it and I’m not complaining. I guess Op4 focuses more on Whiteley and John&Mary arcs so probably there is not so much sharliam there, but if Op3 was like this then I can image how hard they will go with William visit at Sherlock’s place, letter and bridge scene. And I will only need Op6 with hospital and marriage vows to die happy XD.
ps. If anyone knows if it’s possible to pay and see Op4 somewhere online, please let me know. Buying stuff from Japan is always very expensive for me because of shipping cost, if I can avoid it the I would gladly watch it this way.

2023 Year In Review
This year once again I invited some friends and colleagues to reflect on 2023
JG Thirlwell Composer Foetus Xordox Manorexia Steroid Maximus Venture Bros Archer
2023 was an intense year. The year began with the premiere of my symphony for Alarm Will Sound and ended with guesting vocalizing with Dinosaur Jr on some Stooges classics. I completed the final season of Archer. Wrote a lot of material for new Xordox and Foetus albums. Released an album of string quartets and scored a Venture Bros movie. Worked with some great singers and premiered my Ensemble project in London. I spent several months traveling and set up a small studio in Melbourne for a bit. Road tripped through NZ with my partner, Dora. I played some excellent shows in London, Colchester, Auckland, Wellington, Melbourne and Sydney. I still woke up 5am in a panic on too many occasions. And I saw some great concerts. It was difficult to whittle down this list but here are a lot of albums I enjoyed in 2023, in no particular order.

Alexander Tucker (Microcorps)
I started off the year by releasing a project very close to my heart: Fifth Continent, a collaboration with the late Keith Collins, partner and collaborator of film maker and artist Derek Jarman. The album was partially recorded in Jarman’s cottage in the desert-like landscape of Dungeness, on the South East coastline of Kent, in the UK, with elements constructed from Collins own spoken word pieces, and environmental recordings. The album was released on James Ginzberg’s Subtext label, and we also produced Fifth Quarter, an anthology publication of writing, recollections, photography and newly commissioned artworks about Jarman, Collins and Dungeness.
Although I probably made more music than usual this year, and had a greater focus than ever on the various projects I have underway, 2023 felt like a weird and often frustrating year for me and music. About five years ago I set about teaching myself modular systems, experimenting, and recording the results as I went along. This culminated in a new solo guise primarily for electronics and the synthesis of voice and acoustic instruments, MICROCORPS (the debut album Xmit came out on Alter records in 2021). Using these systems is at the same time liberating and incredibly frustrating. For a while this year nothing felt good enough: I could feel the potential of my ideas glimmering in the distance but was unable to catch up with them. I decided to take a short break from the modular, and focused upon compositions for cello, saxophone, and clarinet. But the pull of electronics is never far, so I began processing these recordings, using granular synthesis to stretch, mutate and reorganise the audio into new pieces. As soon as you want more from your practice and yourself, things can become more laborious - it’s difficult to be in the moment and focus on what’s in front of you. I used to be happy with the immediate effects I produced, but I think this is being replaced by a different approach, something more considered, which is exciting and, in some ways, sobering - even if the results are far from what you would describe as sober. I’m also so lucky to have many friends and fellow artists around me to offer help and suggestions, to whom I’m eternally grateful. As R.Crumb says, “Keep on truckin”.

Comics: In 2023 I produced a new issue of my ongoing oblique and nonlinear comic series, Entity Reunion. For this issue I drew upon my love of HP Lovecraft, using the repetition of the comic format to peel back layers of the everyday to reveal omnipotent entities underlying all reality. The viewpoint of each page is from the point of view of the protagonists, who hold an electronic device, photographing their surroundings only to capture the blurred features of some insidious face. There are also references to Lovecraft’s own fictional grimoire the Necrononmicon. I wanted that dreamlike sensation of being the protagonists of the dream but also viewing yourself as separate entity.
Books: I read nearly all of Patrica Highsmith’s ‘Ripley’ books, a bunch of John Le Carré novels, Mark Kermode’s book on The Exorcist and I’m currently working my way through the spy novelist Eric Ambler’s books. I also re-read Bruce Robinson’s analysis on Jack the Ripper and Victorian society, ‘They All Love Jack’.

Music I made a (very) long list on my wildly popular blog, Abundant Living. But, for kicks and with the understanding that maybe you don’t feel like reading (or subscribing to) my wildly popular blog, here’s some stuff I included and some stuff I forgot (with particular attention paid to albums I think might be of particular interest to JG friends/fans but which may have slipped through the radar) (meaning: I mainly put the stuff that wasn’t on too many other lists). Fatboi Sharif Decay (Backwoodz) Skech185 He Left Nothing for the Swim Back (Backwoodz) Zohra Murder In The Temple (American Dreams) The Native Cats The Way On Is The Way Off (Chapel)  Geese 3D Country (Partisan) Gold Dime No More Blue Skies (No-Gold) Algiers Shook (Matador) EXEK The Map and the Territory (Foreign) Skinhead Everything Was Beautiful and Nothing Hurt (Closed Casket) Débruit & Alsarah Aljawal الجوال (Soundway) Fairytale Shooting Star (Toxic State) Among The Rocks and Roots Pariah (Cacophonous Revival)  Full of Hell, Nothing When No Birds Sang (Closed Casket) Uniform & Boris Bright New Disease (Sacred Bones) Sleaford Mods  UK Grim (Rough Trade) Money&King Act Unnaturally (self released) Blu Anxxiety Morbid Now, Morbid Later (Toxic State) Nana Benz du Togo  AGO (Komos) Citric Dummies Zen and the Arcade of Beating Your Ass (Feel It) Ghösh  Prismassive (Ramp Local) Peasdez  Fenomenologia Del Espiritu Agonico: De La Existencia Sordida Al Pendulo De La Nada (SPHC) Upper Wilds Jupiter (Thrill Jockey) Death Valley Girls Islands In The Sky (Suicide Squeeze) Raphael Rogiński Talán  Body Void Atrocity Machine (Prosthetic) Feeling Figures Migration Magic (Perennial) Ryan Davis & the Roadhouse Band  Dancing on the Edge (Sophomore Lounge) Nosaj from New Kingdom & steel tipped dove House of Disorder (Fused Arrow Records) mclusky unpopular parts of a pig / the digger you deep (self released) Advertisement Escorts (Feel It) King Vision Ultra  Shook World (hosted by Algiers) (PTP)

BOOKS My phone has pretty much eliminated my ability to read. I did read the first 100 pages of more books than I care to admit. I finally finished Mark Andrews’ Paint My Name In Black and Gold: The Rise of the Sisters of Mercy and I recommend it if, like me, you think The Sisters of Mercy are better than the Beatles (or whatever inane comparison annoys your friends the most). I also discovered Gene Wolfe and read the first book in the Book of the New Sun trilogy. Otherwise, it’s pretty much been just using Louise Glück poetry as inspiration to write terrible versions of Louise Glück poetry.
TV Doom Patrol Pokerface Rick and Morty (idc idc idc idc) HasanAbi twitch stream  A ludicrous amount of Britbox mysteries and—passively, yes, but not without a fair amount of emotional investment—various Real Housewife shows/spinoffs
Movies Didn’t watch any new movies this year but I did have a lot of youtube videos playing in the background while I did other things, and sometimes those videos would be three hour long screeds about what was wrong with a number of movies I’d never heard of. So I feel like I got the gist.
LIFE Converted to Islam and married Zohra in January. Both choices have proven to be rewarding as all hell. Cashing in my “as a Jew I…” argument card—while simultaneously being too new a Muslim to reasonably claim either special knowledge and/or marginalization status—has really fucked with my ability to be self-righteous online. But the love that Zohra and her family have shown me has more than made up for my newfound inability to really wipe the floor with a motherfucker in the instagram comments. In fact, I liked marrying Zohra so much that I did it again in December (first time was a religious ceremony, the second time was our rendering to Caesar etc). If you know me/us and weren’t invited to either that’s because essentially no one was. As my parents couldn’t attend (on account of being dead) I didn’t really see the point of a big party. That was perhaps selfish. We love you (probably) and will have some sort of to-do in 2024.
Otherwise, I am still very much enjoying working for the new CREEM Magazine (please subscribe) and doing my newsletter (please subscribe). Musically, I lived vicariously through Zohra and the release of her first solo album. Murder In The Temple, with amazing production by Ben Greenberg and contributions by Lydia Lunch, is a synthesis of so many of Zohra’s obsessions. It’s unlike anything in the post-goth-dark-whatever sphere and I can’t express how proud I am of it and her. As for my music, I did some neat-o Scientists-esque stuff with Telematics (Sohrab Habibion, Robert Austin, and Alexis Fleisig) and Zohra and I did a Sheer Terror cover in the style of Tindersticks to commemorate Paul Bearer’s marriage. Also, I’m pretty sure my most successful band (Publicist UK) got dropped by our label (apparently taking eight years to finish a demo is a long time) so get at me if you have a low-to-mid tier label and want to put out an album of eight minute gothic metal songs with zero mosh parts, about an aging hipster loving his wife and cats and missing his dead mom and dad. C’mon, do it. You’d be printing money.

If 2022 was the Return of the Show and the Return of Travel, 2023 was about Building Stability (i.e. making my teaching studio a primary income source), Hunkering Down to Finish Two Albums, and Re-Learning How to Be a Human Being. I also played a bunch of cool shows with Dither (collabs w/ Carla Kilhlstedt, Lee Ranaldo/Brian Chase, Amirtha Kidambi, AJ Santillan, and Laurie Spiegel; playing Electric Counterpoint on GFA), a couple fun Scarcity shows (playing with Liturgy, improvising on graphic scores by Anthony Hawley) and did some performances with Whimbrels and Contemporaneous.

Grace Bergere
(songwriter / singer / performer)
This year was full of firsts for me!
Definitely the most musically eventful year of my life to date. I went on my first tour playing bass with my great friends in COP/OUT, supporting Days n' Daze (A band I'd been listening to for years as a young punk kid.)  I immediately realized touring is really all I want to do.  I also got to tour alongside Subhumans in Cop/Out. Meeting them and getting to know them was mind expanding.  They were all kind and humble thoughtful individuals, completely down to earth and engaged with everyone they spoke to. Every night across the midwest they brought the crowd to a cathartic screaming euphoric mess. Working with COP/OUT, whose message is so clear; to be good to each other, question everything even when it means swimming upstream with every bit of strength you have, filled me with hope.  Playing on that tour with them, and watching Subhumans every night reminded me the power of music to affect real social change which is something I believed to have been  lost in recent years.  I met my great friend Jessica Mills on that tour and we still talk all the time.
I also started playing guitar in The Art Gray Noizz Quintet. One of my longtime favorite bands (that my very talented cool boyfriend happens to play bass in.) We went all across the West Coast, landing in Las Vegas. Playing with them has demanded I advance as a guitarist, stepping into Andrea Sicco's shoes. Andrea is a complete beast of a musician and all of his musical projects are awesome. Check out MOVIE MOVIE, his most recent project.
I also joined Crazy And The Brains on second guitar. They’re a super fun high energy punk band. I love being around such positive fun loving musicians and watching them bounce around while I do my best to keep up.
I recently finished recording my album at HOBO SOUND in Hoboken by James Frazee. The time and effort it took over the several years since I started, was at times grueling. But James never stopped caring or checked out. He helped me shape this album into something I am truly proud of, along with Richard Dev Greene, one of the first people to ever believe in my music. I am so grateful to both of them.
I started spending time with Victoria and Kay of Puzzled Panther. They quickly have become two of my best friends. It is so meaningful for me to have found such badass, driven young women to share a dream with. Puzzled Panther is raw and hypnotizing. They have a unique strong hold over their audience and every show of theirs I’ve been to has been fantastic.  Victoria has joined me a few times on a song at my shows, and every time I believe has been one of the strongest points in my set.
I Met Eugene Hutz of Gogol Bordello (the first huge band I ever went to see as a young teenager.)  He will be releasing my upcoming single and video for “Come And Go”  on his label Casa Gogol Records in early 2024.
I just played the biggest show I’ve ever played with my solo project that plays under my name.  We were on a bill with Gogol Bordello and JON SPENCER (Also one of my favorite artists.)  Being on that stage standing there in front of more people I’ve ever seen in an audience from that vantage point, I felt like every second of my life was leading to that moment. Each song brought me back to the time in my life when Id written it and it felt very much like watching my life projected in front of me. It was indescribably satisfying to be on that stage. Later, in the audience, I screamed along to Gogol and watched my mom dance to songs she'd heard me blasting through the house as a kid, and felt just as moved by them as I did as a young teenager the first time I saw them.
I am so grateful to be working with Eugene. He is kind and thoughtful in his feedback and hugely supportive of me and my dreams.
I will be playing New Years Eve with the Art Gray Noizz Quintet before Kid Congo Powers and The Pink Monkey Birds !!
This last week I can honestly say, has been the best of my life to date. Like looking out over a valley after climbing for years.
BEST SHOWS
(other than the ones I was lucky enough to play at listed above)
RICHARD DAWSON
I got to see Richard Dawson three whole times!!! it was his first US appearance. He is a completely unique force. I’ve never seen such a captivated crowd. we all cried and screamed along with him.
PIGS X 7
One of those times he was playing with Pigs x7. They quickly became another favorite band of mine despite having severe technical difficulties. it was actually kind of a highlight because their front man just started joking around and had the entire audience laughing along with him and talking for about 10 minutes. I got to see them two other times that went perfectly. What a band..
JON SPENCER AND THE HIT MAKERS
I saw them at TV Eye. I had been able to squeeze myself into the DJ booth for their set. They hammered away into some kind of magical hypnosis that made me feel like I'd taken MDMA. (I had not.) I had to lean against a wall to keep my balance. They played with Licks, a badass 60s garage rock inspired band fronted by my friend Skunk.
LYDIA LUNCH RETROVIRUS
Also driving and hypnotic and loud as hell. I was left with a similar feeling of having been dosed with something at all of their shows…
JOSEPH KECKLER
The first time I saw Joseph perform was at TV eye with Lydia Lunch. He’s completely unique. He writes gorgeous songs that he sings in an incomprehensibly wide range, sometimes in languages that he has invented himself! His seamlessly mixes humor with honest beautiful songwriting.

I want to thank JG Thirlwell for inviting me to submit my 2023 Year in Review. I had never done one of these before and it's been a fun challenge to go through my calendar and social media to remember and realize how much I was able to pack into this year! Selecting and writing down all of these things also helped me further grasp and understand how tremendously privileged and lucky I am to be able to do what I love all year around, year after year, and to live my life to the fullest and according to my own wishes and my own design. I don't take this lightly and I don't take it for granted. I am very aware that it comes from hard work, limitless passion and unweavery dedication, not just luck and good fortune, but nevertheless I am grateful every single day for this life and for being healthy, being able to do all of this, and for all the people in my path who trust me, inspire me, support me, challenge me, and enlighten me!
STUDIO SESSIONS, ALBUMS & PRODUCTIONS When compiling this list, it really dawned on me how fortunate I am to be working with such incredible talents and how priviledged I am to be able to witness, participate and contribute to the creation of exceptional works such as the following:

SOUND DESIGN GIGS & LIVE SOUND MIXING GIGS Similarly to the list above, I am eternally greatful for the fact that all these wonderfully talented people trust me with designing, mixing and amplifying their sound so that the rest of the world can truly and fully experience their art in the most complete, sonically articulated, detailed and full spectrum way there is! Some of these highlights include:
Mixing a 90-piece orchestra + 90-piece choir playing the score to Stanley Kubrick "2001: A Space Odyssey" live-to-picture  conducted by Brad Lubman in the Auditorio Nacional of Mexico City to a sold-out crowd of 10'000 people
Mixing the Grammy Award Premiere Ceremony in Los Angeles and being there to amplify and mix the immensely talented house band led by Cheche Alara and the performances by musicians such as Samara Joy, Anoushka Shankar, Arooj Aftab and more…
Mixing the Robbie Robertson tribute concert & memorial organized by Martin Scorsese at Village Studios in Los Angeles with artists such as Jackson Browne, Jason Isbell, Rocco DeLuca, Citizen Cope, Angela McCluskey, Blake Mills and Jim Keltner
Mixing the National Christmas Tree Lighting Ceremony concert at the White House with artists such as Dionne Warwick, Samara Joy, Joe Walsh of the Eagles, St. Vincent and others.
Sound Designing and Mixing the world premiere of "Perle Noire: Meditations for Joséphine" at the DNO Dutch National Opera House in Amsterdam, a beautiful performance/concert/opera directed by Peter Sellars, composed by Tyshawn Sorey and performed by Tyshawn Sorey and ICE International Contemporary Ensemble with soprano Julia Bullock
One of my sound design pieces inspired by Icelandic nature sounds and folklore was presented at the "Le Son 7" Art Gallery in Madrid between the 3rd and the 13th of May 2023, after it was presented the year before in London and will be presented in January 2024 in New York

MOVIES There are soooo many movies I still want to / need to see… I love movies but I prioritize work and live music in my life and I will only watch movies on planes, on (very very) rainy days or those rare times when I don't have a concert on my calendar, so here are a few of those rainy/non-concert films, in no particular order:
Killers of the Flower Moon (for the story, the acting and the soundtrack)
Equalizer 3 (because aside from its Hollywood-ish story and ending, it's a realistic look at how organized crime works in Italy)
Little Richard: I am Everything (for his story, his character, his music and his courage!)
Psychedelicized: The Electric Circus Stroy (for the amazing portrait of a time that's past but that changed NYC forever!)
American Symphony (for the amazing story, talent, spirit and courage of Jon Batiste)
32 Sounds (because my life is about sound…)
Hallelujah: Leonard Cohen, A Journey, A Song (because Leonard was an amazing artist and songwriter and singer and so many friends are in this movie)
Oppenheimer (because that history is so complex and so divided as the country in which it took place)
TRAVEL Travel is the richess of life! I travel SO MUCH that I am on a plane AT LEAST once a month and usually it is to an international location… This year was no different, so I've decided to only list 12 trips for this section:
January: Ringing in the year in a medieval tower in Barcelona and spending the first 4 days of the new year trying all the tapas bars, restaurants, food stands this beautiful city has to offer and seing the Sagrada Familia cathedral for the 3rd time in my life
February: Living in Amsterdam for 3 weeks visiting all the musuems, all the music venues and all the while working at the Dutch National Opera with some amazing folks (see list above)
March: Snowboarding the Swiss and the French alps
April: Visiting Knoxville Tennessee for Big Ears (easily the best independent music festival in the US!!!) for the 2nd time in 2 years, and hopefully the beginning of many more visits in the future!
May: Spending time in sunny Los Angeles and plotting a way to spend more time there and make music
June: Visiting London twice in one month to work and see amazing music shows, theater shows and art exhibits
July: coming back from London on July 6th only to realize that strangely there is no travel for the rest of this month! So weird and unusual!
August: Spending the month in Puglia, Southern Italy eating good food, kitesurfing in the Adriatic and Ionium sea, seeing tons of concerts and playing one myself!
September: arriving in Mexico City and getting my very own police escort motorcade to make it in time from the airport to the theater
October: On tour with John Zorn in Italy, France and the Netherlands
November: Flying to Los Angeles with a 36 hour notice for a concert I was hired for in secrecy having been told "we need a mixing engineer who can mix music for a room full of musicians" and showing up for the Robbie Robertson tribute orgnaized by Martin Scorsese with people like Joni Mitchell and Leonardo DiCaprio in attendance
December: DC-to-DF aka flying to Washgington DC to work at the White House and then flying straight to Mexico City I've finished the year with travel to my motherland of Switzerland, my fatherland of Italy and my second home of London UK!

Jolie’s thoughts on
Silver Blaze Part 3 & 4
(Sherlock & Co. podcast)
No, I tell a lie, because I still have stuff from part 2 that I wanted to point out, too:
I‘m a tiny bit obsessed with John's "doink - doink - doink" sounds after they cross the river.
I also laughed out loud at the Romans clearing out at 3:45.
And there’s a very sweet moment, too, that I didn’t really notice before, when they look at the victim‘s body with Inspector Gregory and Watson goes on about possible reasons why a single blow with a stick could have inflicted such damage, osteoporosis etc and Gregory thinks he’s just rambling, but Sherlock absolutely knows he’s not and nudges him back on track with that gentle "What are you thinking?" Because it’s not just John who wants his Sherlock to shine on a case, it’s the other way round, too!
And I honestly hadn’t noticed until the third relisten that at the very end of part 2 when they’re sneaking around Mapleton, John is basically solving the whole effing case just when Sherlock turns up and interrupts him!
Well, on to part 3 & 4!
Sherlock getting a black eye this time rather than a broken nose, yay, we love variety in our hero whumps. I could listen to entire episodes of Sherlock getting hurt and John looking after him.
Sherlock and John faking a legit job to get the information out of the local bookie was such a classic ACD scene, the way they work together completely seamlessly in situations like that is so great. I’ve also seen it pointed out that Sherlock can be so awkward with people when he’s being himself, but he’s always so confident and at ease when he’s just playing a role and being completely fake (without needing a break afterwards or telling us it’s exhausting, too!). That’s a totally fascinating contrast.
Part 2 had John accidentally solving the mystery of the murder weapon. Part 3 has John basically paving the way for the dog deduction. I love a competent Doctor Watson who knows exactly what he’s doing, but I also love it when he’s truly being Sherlock’s famous conductor of light.
John being canonically a Bond fan, love how they’re still incorporating so much BBC Sherlock fanon into this show. I‘m now eagerly waiting for Moriarty and Colonel Moran to be hot young men who have hot sex with each other, too.
"No more than you’re being human" - "Me more than you, mate" - Can ALL the John Watsons of this world please instantly stop dehumanising their Sherlocks and calling them robots or machines. I can accept it maybe up to their third case together, but in any adaptation that I know, the Sherlocks have proved themselves to have a big heart and to have it entirely in the right place, too, by case 4 at the latest. I don’t like to see any Watson regressing to the cheap laugh of "Sherlock’s a machine and doesn’t have feelings" after that, and I dislike it especially in this version where we get a Watson who is particularly well-attuned to and tolerant of Sherlock’s neurodivergence. Sorry, rant over.
Hey and I was right in my prediction that Sherlock didn’t drop John's phone at Mapleton Stables by accident but left it there on purpose! Even if I assumed it would be recording audio evidence rather than be used as a tracker. Which of course begs the question, did Sherlock really manage to somehow connect his phone to John’s and enable tracking in the very few seconds he had before Silas Brown turned up with the gun? Or is he always tracking John‘s phone as a matter of course? And if the latter, does he do it out of care/worry for John‘s safety and wellbeing, or is he doing it in a creepy/possessive way?
Anyway. After listening to part 4, I must admit I am somewhat underwhelmed by that bit… I don’t know what it is, but parts 1-3 are positively bursting with humour and action, while by part 4 I felt they had kinda lost the momentum. There’s nothing really wrong with it, and maybe it feels different when you’re not familiar with the original story and every revelation is truly jawdropping and not just ticking a box. Maybe I‘m also a little underwhelmed that the final denouement at Aintree is so… private. The horse whose disappearance - we are to believe - has GRIPPED THE NATION and is THE news story of the year is just back, and everyone’s just fine with it? No comments from anyone involved in the case? No congratulations from the owners? No bittersweet relief from Edi and Ned? No genuine relief from Fitz? No acknowledgement from the official police? No tearjerking speeches in parliament? I‘d say if you start a story on that kind of epic scale, you shouldn’t end smaller. I really wanted all those loose ends nicely tied up and got… none.
I also either missed something important, or we never really learned the reason why Mapleton kept hiding Silver Blaze? I see how they took him in at first, maybe thinking they’d get a big reward or ransom, or wanting to pass him off as one of their own, but the way it is, they just hide him for no reason and then give him back for no reason?
Am I being too critical?
The thing with the "S" and the "5" was clever though. And poor John and his abysmal Air BnB rating was hilarious, too.

This is my first entry for @ficwip's All-Ships Ship Week. I've never written for this pairing before, but I always wanted to. Snippet below with the link to the fic at the end. Please enjoy!
“And you just happen to have my number…how?”
John’s phone was tossed back to him so unexpectedly that he fumbled with it before finally securing it.
“Maybe don’t leave this out for just anyone then. I took the liberty of saving my number in there as well. It’s under Sexy.”
John rolled his eyes. “Great, it’ll be a fun guessing game for me to determine if it’s you or one of my many ex-girlfriends.”
Moran gave him a real laugh which had the corners of John’s mouth twitching to respond. Maybe if he hadn’t been such a dick earlier.
“Seriously, John.” Moran stopped just on the stairwell, pinning him under his deep blue eyes. “I know how it sounds. I know you’ve had a rough time of it. But I came to you because I trust you. And that’s the sum of it.”
John huffed out a breath and hummed in response as he waved the man on. Trust was a bit of a complicated feeling for him at the moment, and he really did not want to get into it with Sebastian Moran of all people. He watched him make his way down the stairwell and out the door with a wave back at him before disappearing from view. John really didn’t know what to think about the last few minutes. His mind was in a whirlwind of emotion and negativity. However, before he could completely self-implode, his phone released a ding. He looked down to see he had a text message from “Sexy”.
I’m not an ex-girlfriend.
John couldn’t help it. A bark of laughter bubbled up, suddenly loud in the too silent room. He slipped his phone back in his pocket without a reply as he contemplated the full ramifications of Moran’s offer. He was certainly no Sherlock Holmes, but he could give Moran some back up. His fingers hesitated before pulling the phone back out. He stared down at the screen for a long hard moment before he finally texted out his reply.
What exactly would I be doing?
All he got in return was a smiley face.

Five Fics Friday: May 3/24
Happy Friday everyone! Hope you guys had a wonderful week and are looking forward to settling down with one of these fantastic fics to read! Enjoy!
RECENT MFLs
Hyperballad by PlantsAreNeat (G, 893 w., 1 Ch. || Angst, Feels, Drugs, POV Sherlock) – Sherlock has bought cocaine after his doubts and fears about his and John's new relationship prey on his mind. Not exactly a danger night, but not not one either.
Conductor of Light by rsong912 (E, 8,513 w., 1 Ch. || Developing Relationship, POV John, First Time, BAMF Irene, John is a Mess, Sherlock's Big Feelings, Hurt Sherlock, Angst with Happy Ending) – After the incident with Moriarty at the pool, John is amazed at Sherlock's reaction to John being in danger. He never flirted with the detective again after that first night at Angelo's, but maybe it's time to try once more. He does, with spectacular results. But when Irene Adler enters their lives, it has a disastrous effect on their budding romance.
A Midnight Clear by khorazir (T, 13,120 w., 1 Ch. || Christmas-Carol Inspired || Post S3/Post-TLD / TFP Doesn't Exist, Christmas, Angst, Fluff, Pining, Canon-Typical Violence, Friends to Lovers, First Kiss, Implied / Referenced Drug Use, Magical Realism) – It’s Christmas Eve, and Sherlock is working. Because that’s what he does. He doesn’t need Christmas, or holiday cheer, or even company. He’s fine on his own, thank you very much – until a series of strange encounters on his way back to Baker Street makes him reconsider.
Best Laid Plans by TheMadKatter13 (E, 57,366 w., 9 Ch. || Omegaverse AU || Post-TRF Rape/Non-Con, Graphic Violence, Angst, Marking, Scenting, Time Skips, John's Blog, Nesting, Hurt/Comfort, Torture, Mounting, Biting, Breeding, Bonding, Knotting, Mpreg, Mating Cycles, Alpha Sherlock, Omega John, Omega Jim, Possessive Sherlock, Alpha Moran, Kidnapping) – After the detective's suicide, anyone with eyes could see that there was no John Watson without Sherlock Holmes. Only a rare few even realized there was a flipside to that coin: that there was no Sherlock Holmes without John Watson. Unfortunately, Jim Moriarty is one of those rare few, and while kidnapping his blogger had drawn out out the genius so well the first time, new intel on the 'alpha' doctor has the omega criminal arranging a little bit of 'playtime' between his alpha and his bait while they wait for the not-quite-dead to arrive.
RECENTLY BOOKMARKED LOKIUS FICS
Are We Dating? by AindyGhosh (G, 2,288 w., 1 Ch. || LOKI SERIES || Lokius, S02E05 Rewrite, Flirty Mobius, Flustered Loki, Fluff) – Now that the thought had taken root in Don’s mind, it refused to let go, clinging on to him like a limpet. As it was, Don was infamous in his friends’ circles for his lack of a brain-to-mouth filter. Therefore, it didn’t come as a surprise to him when he just gave in, and verbalised the one doubt that had been making rounds in his head since the moment he had talked to Loki. “Are we dating?” It was only logical to deduce that. And Don couldn’t believe this God-like person had been interested in him enough to agree to date him.

Some thoughts about The Remains
Tumblr media
Every time I see this panel it made me thinking about the one particular moment from the light novels.
Beside them, a Brougham four-wheeled carriage drove past.
“…………” “Is something wrong, Sherlock?” The light clop of hooves could be heard as the carriage vanished in the distance — but out of the blue, Sherlock had stopped as he stared at it, and John called out to him. Yet the detective quickly shook his head, and assumed his usual nonchalant expression. “——It’s nothin’.” “? ……You’re certainly acting strange.” Sherlock swallowed the odd feeling that had arisen within him, then carried on walking as if nothing had happened. His assistant kept pace beside him, looking the very picture of bewilderment.
✦ ✦ ✦ ✦ ——That’d been……. The man riding in the carriage — William James Moriarty — had caught a glimpse of the figure that went past the window; and unconsciously, his eyes widened slightly. To think he’d happen to catch sight of that detective, while on his way home after that “caper”: even for William, this had been unexpected. However, his astonished look quickly morphed into a mysterious smile. ——He was certain that man had solved yet another mystery tonight. “Oi, what’s wrong, William? Did you see something interesting?” William was silent as he gazed out the window, and Moran asked after him. Something interesting. Moran had been right on the mark, but their passing by one another had honestly been sheer coincidence. And William decided to keep that encounter to himself. “——It’s nothing, Moran.” Strangely enough, his words of denial bore a close resemblance to Sherlock’s.
I can't explain why but it seems very similar to me even though it's not so accurate.
It will be interesting if the Remains will includes Sherlock-gang stories as well and maybe then we'll see the representation of this part.
I am curious if somebody has any thoughts about this.

Okay, gimme a drabble for Sherlock and Moran. Or John and Mycroft. Or both, idk.
Sorry for taking so long. It's not morning, but here we are, John and Mycroft + shield! It's about 200 words... I think I just am too verbose for true drabbles. And all the tea stuff ended up barely being used in the final version 😅
Mycroft Holmes was already a dark man, but despite the color of his clothing changing little, mourning somehow looked darker on him. John attributed it to the dark circles and heavy bags under his eyes, as opposed to the extra band of dark cloth upon his arm.
Mycroft looked as though he’d aged ten years since John had last seen him. That had been just months ago, sipping tea at a comfortable cafe within walking distance of Baker Street. Warm lights and laughter had dulled at the time: Irene Alder’s body had been dredged up from the Thames.
At Club Diogenes, there was no sound to dull, and there was no body to be found. Sherlock was as alive as Adler had turned out to be; but John had no way to communicate this to Mycroft amongst the harsh and gilded silence.
He wondered, briefly, if some quirk of his body language might give him away, or if the silence here would shield his secret forever. Was Mycroft even meant to know?
And so, he simply sat, drinking bitter tea, hoping his companionship provided at least some solace in Sherlock's absence.

A random, kinda crack pjo x mtp crossover
Random little PJO x MTP thoughts but William and Louis would be children of Hades. Before someone rocks up with "They're children of Athena" I simply want to avoid the whole "Sherlock and William are technically siblings in that vein of thought."
Following on from that, Sherlock could only be a child of Athena for me, unless there is some god of detectives and critical thinking or something.
(Maybe Louis and William are students of Athena on Olympus because they were cool or something, idk)
Moving on though, Albert is a child of Achlys and he carries it around as the most depressing burden ever. The man would not be able to get over it. Mostly, this connection comes through poison and Achlys being the personification of Sorrow (his dramatic ass in the tower is the only proof I need).
Mycroft I'm 30/30/30 on. One hand, he's Sherlock's half brother and the son of Zeus (cause he has that whole leadership thing going on), on the other hand, he's the son of Athena and Sherlock's full brother, and on the other other hand, he's a child of Ares and represents battle strategy. So while Sherlock is normal intelligence, Mycroft is strategic intelligence. The most probable one would be child of Athena but it's fun to think about.
James is a son of Aphrodite and has the most beef with Hera for being all "femininity this, masculinity that." He loves Artemis and her hunters, briefly considered joining her hunters when he was Irene, then found he didn't fit there. He's still invited on hunts sometimes.
Jack and Moran would be kids of Ares, with Jack being some legacy type guy, one of the very few Greek Demigods to survive to old age. If it were set in the Percy Jackson Universe, Moran would but heads with Clarice a lot and Jack would mentor her.
Herder is a son of Hephaestus, done.
Moneypenny gives off the vibe like she'd be a child of Hestia but I'm fairly sure Hestia has a virginity vow so maybe she's just a follower? If not, then maybe a child of Demeter (cause she provides) or Hermes (cause she's a secretary).
John's a child of Apollo in every Will Solace aspect of the gig. The man's a healer, a ball of sunshine and a soldier in one breath. the only thing he probably couldn't do is play music. Billy is also a kid of Apollo and takes on more of the aspects of the "archer" since he's a gunslinger.
Miss Hudson is a dryad or some other creature from the camp.
Patterson, weirdly, is also a child of Athena. He, Sherlock and Mycroft aren't particularly close as siblings but they do see eye-to-eye (Sherlock gets jealous of him a lot).
Fred would probably be a child of Persephone, which makes a strange relationship between him, Louis and William.
Bill is a child of Hecate for all the mystery around him. He can hide things and is extremely smart in doing so. He natural math skills are just his and have no connection to Hecate (I really tried to find a god that relates to him but Athena is the only other one and it just bothers me how many of them would be children of Athena).
Adam Whitely would be a child of Zeus but he'd die trying to protect his human brother.
Wiggins would be some mischievous little forest creature that bothers Sherlock for food.

Thinking about writing an one shot full of clichés where the M16 members (including Sherly and John) go on well-deserved break in Mycroft’s forest mansion.
There’s Liam, Louis, Albert, Bonde, Fred, Herder, Moran, Moneypenny and Billy.
Suddenly Fred is kidnapped and they found that the perpetrator gives them conditions to clear games if they want to save him. Now, since they are on a vacation, there are only two braincells in the group and Fred has one of them.
Perpetrator : You need to sacrifice whoever you think is the most privileged among you
*Everyone looks at Albert*
Albert : Seriously ? While Moran is a whole French noble ?
Moran : Don’t bring me into your je ne sais quoi.
Albert : See ?
Albert : There are literally five blonde men in the room. A woman. And a famous author.
John : So I can write about this, we need a testimony.
William : You actually choose to go in jail for three years, even after The Queen said you didn’t have to. Mycroft called you Rapunzel in her little tower
Bonde : I’ve always felt that way.
Moran : If the old man was there, the choice would have so much easier
Moneypenny : I beg your pardon ???
Sherlock : I agree with Liam but we should pick Louis
Louis : We should pick Sherlock, he also chooses to live...*side eye*..like this, even though he’s clearly an Oxbridge man. So privileged and full of himself.
Bonde : I’ve always felt that way.
Herder : Also his brother is the Gouvernment
Billy : You came back into society while Will-kun couldn’t
Sherlock : You’re American
Moneypenny : So is Bonde.
Bonde : I can prove that I’m not privileged : the Gouvernment wanted me dead in my past life but now he’s okay with me.
*everyone nods*
Moneypenny : As a woman I second this-
Bonde : You are a backstabbing witch with myopia, get your own alibi
Herder : Don’t let it distract you from the fact that we all need to choose between Albert and Moran
Albert : I can prove that I’m not privileged : I drink a lot... to forget...
Moran : Forget what ? Arson ????
Albert : You probably slept with the whole country and ran away from punishment for three years give me a break
Sherlock : Using alcohol as an excuse is so low of you
William : Please you were a crackhead when we first met
*Louis snorts*
John : I second this. Lemme write that down *takes his notebook*
Sherlock : I don’t know how to do a neck tie or whatever
John : I second this
*William remains silent*
Louis : As if my brother did not teach you how to do it, while you were roommates for three years
Billy : Lol roommates
Louis : ???
Herder : Don’t let it distract you from the fact that we all need to choose between Albert and Moran
Moran : Shut up you have a whole blindfold on your face
Albert : I agree, the fact that you are living peacefully like this gives us the answer we need
Bonde : I’ve always felt that way.
Herder : You wear shoes to cover your feet, so why are questioning me covering my eyes ?
John : Interesting *writes it down*
William : Wait...let him cook
Sherlock : I mean he got a point
Louis : Can I add that Moran never does any house chores ?
Moneypenny : I second this
Albert : Also, he’s always naked, because he is soooo confident about his bottom
Moran : Maybe if you used some body lotion, your butt skin would have been bouncier
Sherlock : So it’s Sebastian then
Bonde : Sebby actually
Moran : Albert, screw you, we were supposed to be allies ! Ugh !
*Moran loses*
(the perpetrator is just Mycroft trying a new toy)

One Night in Palermo: Chapter 4
Greetings , Friends, the weekend is going swimmingly! I have dug my patio hole, it's my wedding anniversary, AND I'm actually getting this chapter out on schedule. Yippee! I hope things are going as well for all of you. Now, without further ado...Enjoy!
--------
Sherlock bounded across the roof, knowing John was on his heels without looking back. His mind swirled with all the new information it had gathered in the last few minutes. John was the assassin working in counterpoint to his own efforts and had helped shorten his time spent away by five months. Only Moran remained. While it was a relief to see his homecoming surging closer to the present, consternation and confusion welled up in his mind. So many questions surfaced unbidden, even as he ran. How had John come to be in this situation? Why would he hunt Moriarty’s network? How did he find them? He didn’t have Mycroft’s resources at his back. Twenty more questions that quickly doubled popped into the detective’s mind, but he warded them off with a shake of his head. He hadn’t time for them now, not with three armed men on their heels.
He and John were approaching the edge of the building, their first jump nearly upon them. The sound of frantic footsteps and shouts in Italian reached his ears. Costa’s men were on the roof and, while they could not immediately catch the detective and his blogger on foot, their bullets could.
“John!” Sherlock called as the projectiles flew around them.
“Shit!” John shouted without slowing or turning to fire back.
With the first jump upon them, they couldn’t afford to lose any speed. The gap between buildings was about ten feet wide on average. The next building was roughly the same height as their own, which could pose a problem, given the rate at which they would begin to fall once in the air, but they did have a good running start that might make up for it. It was a risk they had to take. With a great leap, Sherlock flew from one roof to the next with ease. His pace did not let up once he landed on the other side, nor did the vice around his heart loosen until he heard John’s feet touch the concrete one by one.
Looking to the next building, Sherlock saw that the gap was just as wide, but the building was shorter. It would be easy to jump to it. However, it might make the following building difficult if it was taller. As his eyes darted further ahead, Sherlock noticed that the ever-present bullets no longer whizzed around him and John. Apparently, their attackers had realized that firing their weapons only slowed their pursuit. Pity.
When Sherlock’s silvery gaze settled on the gap two buildings ahead, he noted with a sinking feeling in his gut that the building was a full three feet taller than the one before it. The gap itself was shorter, which would help. Would it be enough? Calculations began flashing through Sherlock’s brain as he jumped down to the shorter building. He didn’t miss a beat, his feet still pounding the concrete as soon as he landed. Again, the tightness in his chest loosened when he heard John land behind him. A lighter sound of footfalls hit the building they had just vacated with a flurry of thuds. Their attackers were roughly one building behind. Sherlock would have preferred more distance, but he took what he could get.
The detective turned his focus back to the formulas working in the background of his mind, already devising plans of attack for the next building. He needed the solution to be less than forty-two for John to make the jump. Sherlock would have little trouble, but John was the rub. The doctor’s general fitness and the power he typically hid beneath layers of loose-fitting clothing guaranteed success in most situations, but not all and Sherlock’s time to run equations was running out.
Sherlock’s mind raced as the edge of the roof fast approached. He grit his teeth in fury, silently cursing a mental speed that far outperformed almost any other, but was achingly slow under the current circumstances. He fixed his gaze on the gap and willed his brain to work faster, trying to shut out all other stimuli. Numbers and symbols began to float through his vision, changing to numbers greater or smaller as he calculated until all but one disappeared: Thirty-three. The answer finally came to him and a grin spread across his lips. He turned his head slightly to address John.
“John, the next building is taller, but you can make it,” Sherlock called urgently. “Just don’t slow down.”
“Gah! Right. Got it,” John answered, looking ahead to see the jump.
“At all, John. Don’t slow down at all,” Sherlock insisted.
“I got it! I got it!” John shouted in a growl.
Unable to say more before the edge, Sherlock jumped and crashed onto the roof, colliding with a heating unit. His shoulder and left side of his head hit the roof with a sickening thud when he tumbled away from the unit. Fortunately, the roof was made of wood instead of concrete and it softened the blow. The detective would have been knocked out cold, else. He was certainly dazed, however. Sherlock blinked his eyes and forced his mind to sharpen as he raised his head. A pair of strong hands wrapped around his biceps and pulled him up.
“We have to keep going. Come on, Sherlock,” John told him hurriedly, his eyes on the men following them. They came upon the side of the previous building with startling speed. “Now!”
John pushed Sherlock forward, which seemed to stimulate his brain and his thoughts snapped back into place. The detective set off running again, his blogger just behind. Sherlock needed to get ahead of this. He had to plan ahead, figure out which building would be their last and what to do when they got there. He had to bring the chase to an end.
Sherlock’s eyes fell on the next gap and the one after that. Each was approximately ten feet and the buildings had evened out in height, posing no immediate trouble. He jumped to the next building with little difficulty and John followed suit. Four rooftops ahead, Sherlock found what he was looking for; a newer building with more air handling units and a rectangular room that housed a full-sized door at one end. The room was roughly five feet by ten by eight feet tall and covered a staircase that led into the building below. It was a maintenance entrance and their escape. If he and John could get inside and down the stairs before the three men behind caught up, they could end the chase.
Sherlock leapt to the next building and listened for John before turning his eyes forward again. With three rooftops in between, the detective quickly assessed each gap and top. In line with all the rooftops so far, none of the upcoming buildings had side walls around its perimeter and were roughly the same height. The final gap, however, was wider by half. Before panic could set in, a younger version of Sherlock popped out of a door in his mind palace. He was wearing a black leotard and leggings, his hair in unkempt curls instead of slicked back as Madame Farnaby had always insisted.
“You can jump that easily,” the boy bragged. “You didn’t agree to these intolerable lessons for nothing.”
“But John Watson can’t,” a familiar voice lilted from somewhere far beneath the palace, down in the depths of hell where Sherlock kept memories he could not delete and never wanted to see again.
Sherlock jerked his head to the side instinctively as he jumped, trying to shake the voice from his thoughts. He landed safely on the next rooftop and heard John do the same, as well as the three men on their heels. Sherlock’s gaze shot ahead to the only gap between them and the last. Knowing it would pose no threat, his eyes fell on the wide gap again and that voice continued to speak.
“John Watson can’t jump that, no matter how fast he runs,” the voice almost sang. Its tone was intense and dangerous, dripping with glee.
Sherlock ran as if in slow motion now. Every step was heavy and echoed loudly over the rooftops. He could see the next gap coming closer. The vague sound of other footsteps floated somewhere in the background, but that voice drowned them out almost entirely.
“John Watson is in trouble,” it said with quiet excitement.
Sherlock shuddered. He knew exactly who it was.
“After all you’ve done to save him,” the voice taunted, suddenly very loud, “and this is how it ends.”
Sherlock’s feet pounded on the rooftop as he picked up his pace. Behind him, he could hear John do the same in preparation for the jump. If the doctor had any doubts, he wasn’t showing it.
“Keep pretending, Sherrrrrrlock,” the voice crowed triumphantly, “but I win.”
“Shut. Up.” Sherlock growled through clenched teeth as he leapt off the building. His legs stretched out, perfectly straight, one in front and one behind like a proper ballerina. The position gave him the lift and hang time he needed to reach the next roof. He knew he would feel the muscle strain later. They already burned with the stretch.
Sherlock felt like he hung in the air for five minutes, his mind barreling ahead to the landing and his next steps. It was more like five seconds before his right foot hit the rooftop. Sherlock twisted his body to face John and Costa’s men as soon as his foot touched the roof. John had just jumped and had gotten more air than the detective expected. The last six months of exploits had obviously added more power to the doctor’s legs, as well as his stamina. Unfortunately, not enough to make the jump. Sherlock watched as John’s chest slammed into the side of the building, his arms landing on the roof. Even though it knocked the wind out of him, John kept his wits about him and scrabbled for a handhold.
With his body turned to face the four men now in front of him, Sherlock let himself fall backwards onto the roof. He looked past John as he went down to see the three men approaching the side of the previous building. He could have let them jump and fall to their deaths, but could not afford one of them flying far enough to grab John. Sherlock pulled his gun as he tumbled backwards and fired three quick shots. Two of the three men fell on the rooftop and the last fell off, as Sherlock’s back hit and slid a few feet on the smooth concrete roof. Fortunately, two layers of clothing protected his skin from scraping and tearing as he went. Sherlock lay there for a few seconds, staring at the sky, before dropping his gun and scrambling to his knees. He lunged for John, who had slowly slid backwards off the roof until just his hands were visible. Sherlock clutched the doctor’s wrists hard. John twisted his own hands to grab onto the pale wrists and stop his body from sliding farther.
Without speaking a word, Sherlock pulled and John walked his knees up the textured brick side of the building. Once fully on the roof, both men fell side by side to lay on their backs. For long minutes, the only sounds that could be heard were harsh breaths gulping in air. Looking up at the night sky, John huffed out a breathless laugh and peeled the mask off his face, wiping his hands over his sweaty features. Sherlock watched him, greedily drinking in every inch of the face he had only seen in his dreams for the last eighteen months.
“Christ, Sherlock,” John gasped and laughed at the same time, “that was the most insane thing I’ve done since…”
“And you invaded Afghanistan,” Sherlock joked between breaths when John trailed off, harkening back to their first case.
John turned his head to look at the detective and they both erupted into snorts of laughter. Sherlock rolled onto his side, laughing harder than he had in months. He honestly wasn’t sure he had laughed at all after the Fall. It felt so good. Sherlock opened his eyes and looked at John, a genuine smile on his face. John grinned back.
“That jumping thing,” the doctor began, gesturing toward Sherlock. “Where the hell did that come from?”
“Ballet,” Sherlock shrugged. “Mum insisted I take lessons for years.”
“Of course she did,” John chuckled, shaking his head and rubbing at his left shoulder. “Only you would use it for something like this.”
Sherlock laughed quietly and ducked his head. Both men looked sharply in the direction they had come when the sound of emergency services began to fill the air. John pushed himself up to sit and Sherlock followed suit.
“Sounds like they’re heading this way,” John commented.
“Indeed,” Sherlock replied. “Someone must have seen our final pursuer on his way down.”
“Right,” John said as they both stood. “We can go to my hotel.”
“Did you leave any of your belongings there?” Sherlock asked, taking hold of John’s arm.
“No?” John answered with a question in his voice.
“Come with me. It’ll be safer,” Sherlock told him in a commanding tone while his mind secretly begged. He did not want to let John out of his sight ever again and Mycroft’s safe house was far more secure than any hotel.
John fixed him with tenuous eyes for a moment. Sherlock held his breath while feigning nonchalance, hoping the doctor would not argue. John’s eyes hardened, but he did not object, giving Sherlock a curt nod. The detective nodded back and led the way.
--------
Me imagining your inner monologue: Oh, thank god, Jane, you didn't leave us at another cliffhanger with John slipping off the roof or Sherlock in mid-air! Yes, that's true, but does that mean you'll pay later? Da da daaaaaaa!
I hope you enjoyed the chap and can easily recover from the suspense. Hahaha. Until next time, Friends. Thank you for your support
Love, Jane

The Sniffling Tiger
A/N: I have loads of things that I should be doing. Am I doing those things though? No. No I am not. Instead of getting work done, I am writing a fanfic. :D This one is another incorrect quote by the lovely @devil_in_westwood on instagram.
Pairings: Sebastian Moran x Jim Moriarty
Summary: Sebastian is taken by the Virgin and his Soldier. All that he can hope for is a swift death before Jim finds out that he’s gone.
Or,
“Sherlock: Where’s your owner.
Sebastian: I aint’ tell you SHI—wait what you call him?
Sherlock: *to john* After all the blows to the head he must be losing his hearing… Your OWNER, Colonel where is he?
Sebastian: Oh fuck you virgin, I heard what you said. But he’s my Boss not my owner.
John: Tell that to the GPS microchip in your neck.”
Word count: 924
Warnings: Violence, possessive!Jim, dark!Jim, brief mentions of torture, brief mentions of water boarding, language,
Sebastian was going to catch a cold. He just knew it. He should’ve put on the jumper that Jim had been nagging him about. But he had wanted to be a brat and now he was paying for it.
The sniper didn’t actually think that Sherlock was going to waterboard him. He thought that it was an empty threat. The pale, lanky man looked like a swift breeze would blow him over, let alone be capable of torturing anyone. If anyone was going to draw blood, Sebastian had thought that it would be Johnny boy.
Boy was he wrong.
The dirty water was soaked into his clothes, clinging to his skin. His hair was damp. His gooseflesh had gooseflesh. A draft from an open window made him shiver. Sebastian hated that he knew his skin would be flushed red right now. The cut on his lip wasn’t helping his appearance either.
Suffice to say, Sebastian wouldn’t be winning any beauty pageants in the future.
“Where’s your owner?” That came from Sherlock. The man was in his signature overcoat, a scarf snuggly tied around his long neck.
“I ain’t telling you SHI—wait what did you call him?”
Sherlock turned to look at his soldier. “After all the blows to the head he must be losing his hearing…” His head turned on a swivel back to Sebastian. Blue-green eyes glared down. “Your OWNER, Colonel, where is he?”
Sebastian spat venom, “Oh fuck you virgin, I heard what you said. But he’s my boss, not my owner.”
John gripped Sebastian’s sandy hair in a vice. He tugged Sebastian’s head back, exposing his neck. “Tell that to the GPS microchip in your neck.”
Sebastian laughed at a punchline only he knew. It wasn’t the happy kind of laugh either. It came with thick mucus and sniffling snot. “Jim likes to keep track of his assets. I’m not a fucking dog, I’m a weapon he doesn’t like being misplaced.” Sebastian laughed again, his voice rough. “A dog would get better treatment.”
“Oh I bet you get treated just fine,” Sherlock said with a condescending tone. “You probably get to sleep at the foot of his bed if you behave, don’t you?”
Sebastian tensed up, wrenching his head out of John’s grip and glaring at the floor. His breaths were coming in heavy. “Fuck you. You know nothing about me.” Sebastian was going to break his hands to get out of his bindings if he had to. He really did not want to be here.
“But I do, Colonel Moran. Or…what was it Jim called you again? Panther? Lion…? Ah, something with patterns.” Sherlock held his chin as if deep in thought. He had a shit eating grin plastered on his face. “That’s right. Tiger.”
“Shut up!” Sebastian snarled. “You have no right to use that name.”
“Well if you prefer pussy cat, I can call you that too,” John added with a smirk of his own.
“Tiger’s a much better fitting name for him. You should see his lovely strips sometime…” Jim said in a singsong voice. “Then again, I’d have to kill you after. His strips are for my eyes only.” The gun pressed to John’s head was for theatrics, but the present audience didn’t know that.
They could all hear when the safety was off.
“Sherlock,” Jim sang. “You know better than to take away my toys. I wasn’t done playing with him just yet.”
“Kill John and I will stop at nothing to end you,” Sherlock threatened. Everyone present knew he meant it too.
“Take away my tiger again and we’ll see what I’m capable of. You’ve seen nothing, Sherlock. NOTHING.”
Sherlock seemed to debate the odds in his head for a second. All was quiet.
“Fine…Take him and leave. No one has to get hurt.”
“He’s bleeding, Sherlock. You’ve already broken my toy.”
Sherlock gestured to his own lips. “Do the same to me. Then we’re ev—”
Jim took the opening before Sherlock was even finished. Only Jim didn’t aim for the mouth like offered. He went for Sherlock’s nose. He felt his knuckles ache, knowing with certainty that he broke bone.
“Now we’re even.”
*****
Sebastian couldn’t stop sneezing as he got off the elevator. He was definitely sick.Which made an already shitty day worse. Jim didn’t like anything to do with germs, let alone spend time with someone with the flu. He was going to make Sebastian sleep on the couch or have him stay at a shabby safe house with no heating.
Sebastian hugged his arms to conserve what little heat that he could. “Thanks for getting me, boss.” He coughed, the action causing more pain than it was worth. “Let me get some warmer clothes and then I’ll head out.”
“Where do you think you’re going?”
“To a safe house…? Cause I’m sick?”
Jim pressed his lips together into a straight line. He had never looked so visibly angry, “If you think I’m going to let you out of my sight then Sherlock must’ve hit you harder over the head than I thought.
“B-but I-I,” Sebastian stumbled at a loss for words. “But I’m sick?
“All the more reason for you to stay close to me. You can’t defend yourself in this state.” Jim pointed into the direction of the bathroom. “Go. I’m running you a bath.”
“Really?” Sebastian couldn’t keep the hopeful smile off his face.
“Don’t look so happy. The minions will accuse me of abusing my pets. Don’t make me change my mind.”
Sebastian never ran so fast.

Sherlock and Moriarty should rub their bellies together
Rating: Explicit
Fandom: Sherlock Holmes ACD
Characters: Jim Moriarty, Sebastian Moran, Sherlock Holmes, John Watson
Content: feedee/feeder relationships, weight gain competition, extreme gaining, immobility, johnlock ACD, mormor ACD
Summary: Moriarty invites Sherlock to dinner in order to regale him with an extremely tempting offer.
“Are you sure this is a good idea, love?” John said discreetly as he walked into the Glass Gate beside Sherlock who leaned on his modified, reinforced walker that was fitted with a platform for his gut. It was an exclusive ‘All You Can Eat’ buffet that catered to a very specific market. It became immediately obvious to John what that clientele was when they entered - it seemed many of the customers were at varying stages of obesity, particularly immobile obesity. Apart from the wait staff and the carers, Sherlock may have been one of the smaller attendees. John could see the frown on Sherlock’s plump lips, he clearly did not approve of that. John stroked Sherlock’s black curls causing them to turn into a small smile and focus on the matter at hand.
“Probably not, but I believe we won’t be in any danger. I think most likely scenario is we will leave annoyed- ah, yes,” Sherlock said to a waitress who approached them both. “The other members of our party have already arrived it-”
“Right this way, it’s Mister Moran’s usual table, Sir,” the woman interrupted with a thick East London accent. Sherlock cast a look to John, he expected this introduction. It was immediately obvious the woman knew Sebastian intimately. They followed her to a side room that had a more intimate and hedonistic feel to it. As soon as they entered there was a loud noise like meat slapping against slabs of meat and a familiar high pitched giggle. Sure enough, their the bloated hog of crime was.
“Locket! You actually showed,” Jim Moriarty laughed spraying food over his chest and hitting Sherlock’s front as he spoke. Sebastian Moran sat next to Moriarty, despite his muscular frame and height he seemed almost small next to the enormous pile of adipose next to him, very unsatisfied by the meeting. He had a scowl on his soft lips and his bright green eyes were narrowed. When he looked at Sherlock’s walker however he gave a small smirk, Moriarty was sat in his specially made wheelchair showing he was far heavier.
“Yes, well, you gave me little choice,” Sherlock wheezed dismissively. John stood next to him, he leant on his walking stick but didn’t wish to sit in case he was needed. He rested one hand on Sherlock’s shoulder protectively, Moriarty didn’t even glance towards John but Moran stared intently and suspiciously.
“Oh, yeah. The little threat we made to your doctor,” Moriarty giggled. “Anyway, what’s the craic, eh?” He asked, eating another from his large pile of cheeseburgers and shoving it into his mouth. Moran barked at a waiter to bring more, John politely asked for a menu, causing Moran to roll his eyes.
“I am fine thank you, why am I here?” Sherlock pushed. When the waiter came back he turned to him. “I’d like an extra large portion of everything, please,” he added cordially. Moran snorted and folded his arms as he slouched in his chair.
“I thought you might be interested in a little competition,” Moriarty hummed, one of his hands began shaking his gut. Sherlock’s cheeks turned pink as he felt Moriarty’s stomach rubbing against his, the soft adipose pushing against Sherlock’s girth. He let out a small gasp causing a state from John and Moran, John frowned at Moriarty in disapproval and Moran nearly hissed possessively in disgust. Sherlock wanted to kick Moriarty away, but against his better judgement he began rubbing his stomach against Moriarty’s. Both of them rubbing their soft bellies together was oddly intimate and hidden, not that they would ever admit it.
“A contest. Curious. What kind?” Sherlock asked tilting his head into his fat neck.
“Who can become the fattest.” Moriarty continued stuffing his face, not bothering to stop to speak and thus making a mess over his newly tailored bespoke shirt.
“Hm. That is … Not uninteresting.” Sherlock sighed and rubbed his gut as his food was placed in front of him as he sat comfortably in his gigantic reinforced chair. “And how would a winner be chosen?”
“I was thinking we have monthly check-ins where we’re both weighed and the amount we’ve gained is compared.” Moriarty said calmly, as if he hadn’t pushed his gut into Sherlock’s, almost causing him to let out a small moan.
“You are currently heavier I believe, that would be an unfair starting point.” Sherlock grew flustered but his it well, he had one hand gripping his top roll and another beginning to make a start on his food with as much dignity as he could muster.
“Fine, fine. If you’re gonna be a baby, based on how much we’ve gained.”
“Hm. Why? What do you gai-” Sherlock scowled as he saw Moriarty grin from the almost uttered accidental pun. “How does me getting larger benefit you?”
“I gain loads and seeing a pretty boy getting fatter, duh,” Moriarty snorted. “What a stupid question.”
“That can’t be all it is.” Sherlock was incredulous but he actually believed him, it was frustrating. He couldn’t see anything else this meeting could be about.
“Well, since I’m going to keep getting fatter for as long as feels good … You don’t have to decide now. But the longer you take the bigger I get and the more of a challenge it’s gonna be for you, little Locket.” Moriarty shrugged, smirking as Moran gave a small irritated huff. He began shaking his belly, causing Sherlock’s cheeks to grow pink as he felt their fat rippling together. “Seb, try some of the chicken wings, they’re delicious.”
“I- I will consider it,” Sherlock conceded, trying to ignore the growing wetness in his cunt. He had to admit, becoming fatter than Moriarty was a rather exciting prospect.
