My OUAT Rewatch -- S2E15 -- The Queen Is Dead
Link to Rewatch Review and Ranking archive
So um . . . . . do we get to blame OUAT’s downfall on Rena Sofer then?
Tumblr media
In case you don’t know what I’m talking about -- back when there was a website called “Jump the Shark” one of the telltale signs that a show was doomed was the addition of actor Ted McGinley, and many suggested that his female counterpart was Rena Sofer, because she HAS shown up and tanked MANY a show.
And it’s funny, because I’ve known her since her General Hospital days.  Hell, I MET HER.  I have a picture with her from a soap event.
I didn’t dislike her, but I also never did think she was going to be one of those “wow she’s gonna leave soaps behind and be famous” actors though.  Then again, I saw Demi Moore when her first job was on General Hospital and I thought she sucked.  So what do I know?
Anyhow . . . . . aside from the Rena Sofer curse (and honestly she wasn’t horrible in this episode) . . . . . this episode was . .. . .  okay I guess?  But I will say this . . . . . I think I have pinpointed the exact episode where A&E got the rights to their Neverland toy and decided to abandon their original plans in order to play with it immediately.  And this be it.
So first of all . . . . the Hook issue.  Let’s chat about this. Again . . . . I’ll repeat myself . . . .
Why in the ever loving FUCK is Hook NOT IN JAIL????
No seriously -- WHY??  He was IN CUSTODY.  In HANDCUFFS.  After he led the Charmings to his boat, what --- did they just let him go cause reasons??????
Idiots.  Way to police officer there, guys.
Second . . . . all the stuff in New York.  We got some great Papafire and Swanfire stuff, but I want to call out the line where Rumple yells at Henry.  Because that is definitely a line written by David “I’m a hack piece of shit who doesn’t deserve to write for this character EVER” Goodman.  You will NEVER convince me that Goodman didn’t write that shitty scene/line, which I have always hated.
Third . . . . boy, Snow was a little shit when she was a kid?  And it only took what, about 12 years or so before her mom put an end to that crap?  Because that couldn’t have been the first time that Snow acted like an entitled brat -- just the first time she got CAUGHT.
Fourth . . . . . all the Storybrooke stuff, with the Charmings and Cora and Regina.  I’ve mentioned be for that it took me waaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaay longer to warm up to Regina than others.  Episodes like this are why.  She was NOT my favorite person at this point and I’m not excusing away her behavior because of mommy issues.  She made a choice, and not a good one.  I just couldn’t root for her at this point in the series.  And in a rewatch -- nope, still can’t.  Sorry.
And damn David, practically drooling over the prospect of controlling the Dark One.  But then, David’s immediate reaction to pretty much EVERYTHING has always been “punch it now, ask questions never.” So I’m not surprised.
And poor Johanna.  :(
But the whole “we changed course” thing from the writers . . . . . here’s the thing.
I don’t think that Cora was meant to be killed off in the next episode.  I think she WAS meant to be killed off, just . . . . not this soon.  I think they were saving that for the season finale, and I still think Snow was going to do it.  But I think that they had to get rid of her to pave the way for Neverland, and this was where it all started.  This is where they changed their plans with Tamara and Greg too.  And I know that Tamara was just introduced in this episode, but I’m 100% convinced they had a different storyline planned for her, and Greg, and the entirety of the next 7 remaining episodes of the season.  I think we saw SOME of what they had planned because it worked with their new and amazing Neverland trajectory, and as we move forward in the rest of the season I will comment on what I think was an original plan and what I think was an addition to accomodate their new toy.  But I also think some of it got tossed because they needed some things to be done or never happen.
And Cora needed to be done.  ASAP.  And this is EXACTLY where that began.
Also -- anyone who, the first time watching, actually thought before the “that was Cora” reveal that yup, that really COULD have been the Blue Fairy being that fucking shady to a little girl?

Points tally:

10 points deducted for no Belle

Bones and All anteprima a Milano: Timothèe Chalamet incontra il pubblico in Italia
Tumblr media
Bones and All anteprima a Milano: Timothèe Chalamet incontra il pubblico in Italia. #notizie #news #breakingnews #cronaca #politica #eventi #sport #moda Read the full article
