More dramatic scenes from Operation: White Snow Continues, and some analysis of Geomeunjogjebi.
Geumsaegi discovers that Juldarami has been kidnapped, and proceeds to, possibly implied via the title card, jump out the window.
Tumblr media
He then runs around screaming in the woods, punching trees, wondering how he and the Flower Hill plans could go on without Juldarami.
Tumblr media Tumblr media
Never mind the fact that he could have been the next target, and should have considered that, given his position. He went out into the woods alone, and could have been captured as well for that mistake, which could make for an interesting episode AU if he has to work from that angle.
Tumblr media
It is actually General Commander Jogjebi who actually does something useful first. He immediately freaks out, because the soldier he sent out to investigate a possible traitor ring came back injured, and then was abducted. He understands the greater connotations of a group of individuals kidnapping someone who might have the information on who is a threat to the Weasel Unit. With the Regimental Commander missing, who can he trust if he goes outside?
If anything, traitors are more dangerous than scouts from Flower Hill, especially since they have a more vested interest in killing him, whereas Flower Hill could use him as a hostage. Naturally, Commander Jogjebi immediately has his soldiers start searching the base.
Tumblr media
Which is something Geumsaegi should have done at the start, instead of running around in the snow.
Meanwhile, the concept of Geomeunjogjebi is interesting in general.
Tumblr media
This weasel appears as Aekku’s replacement in The Pact, throwing himself into the role with enthusiasm. He appears in Operation: Snow White Continues, having performed an autopsy on his own brother, and discovered that the bullets that killed him were of Weasel Unit make. Therefore, it was obvious to him that Juldarami had killed his brother, instead of the Rabbits.
Tumblr media Tumblr media
Clearly, he wants revenge. But how did he know Juldarami was a scout? Apparently, he was not part of The Pact or the Rebels of Mt. Rock beforehand (he did have the secret insignia, though, so at least he was not playing a large part). There are two possibilities.
One, he was part of the rebels all along, and it had already be determined that he was to be Aekku’s backup. He was just not seen, since as a doctor he had to work in a specific area, and could not join the rest of the rebels immediately. This does not explain why he would know Juldarami was a scout, considering Aekku only figured it out in Rabbit Village.
If anything, Geomeunjogjebi would have known that Geumsaegi was a scout, since thanks to Mulmangcho they already had that information.
It would have been prudent to grab Geumsaegi as well, but revenge on Juldarami apparently took priority.
The second possibility is that Aekku was suspicious of Commander Jogjebi and Juldarami, wondering if there was a plot to have him killed in Rabbit Village, and decided to leave all his information behind for his brother to find, in a hidden location only the two of them would know about. Perhaps a dossier on everything The Pact was doing, so Geomeunjogjebi could pick up where he left off.
Problem with this is, while Aekku should have known about Geumsaegi being a Flower Hill Scout, he did not figure out about Juldarami until Rabbit Village, which means that bit of information should not have been in any left behind notes.
Tumblr media
Unless, of course, Aekku make some sort of phone call from the hotel room, informing his brother on where to find the notes, and the possibility that the Regional Commander was a Flower Hill scout.
Tumblr media Tumblr media
Obviously he just assumes Commander Jogjebi is compromised at this point, so Aekku could not make a phone call to the base and tell Jogjebi that the plan was in Jeopardy.
Which makes calling Geomeunjogjebi a higher possibility. Naturally, the phones would be wiretapped, but Aekku, as the Scout Commander, might have the knowledge on how to remove the wiretap, or at least speak in a friendly and specific manner that his brother would recognize as a message that the Rabbit listeners would not understand.
Since Geumsaegi ran off into the forest alone, Geomeunjogjebi, as a doctor, could have easily followed and grabbed him with some chloroform or other sleeping drug, moved him, and then claimed that he lost Geumsaegi when that one tree fell down. And then they would have two hostages in order to get close to General Commander Jogjebi. But, apparently, revenge may have taken priority at that point.
Also, Juldarami was injured, and Geumsaegi had proven himself a formidable opponent in fighting weasels, let alone two grieving mice.

Lt. Vixen: Well, that was shroom tea. So I guess you’re tripping with us now.
Assistant Jogjebi: Heh heh, um, I don’t think so. I’ve done a lot of drugs in my day. And it’s gonna take a lot more than a cup of tea to get all this water out of the rowboat I’m suddenly in…

One small thing I recently thought of…
I think Commander Jogjebi
Tumblr media
And Aekku
Tumblr media
Are somehow related.
Not in the sense that I think they’re like father/son or brothers. Depending on if they’re the same age or if Jogjebi is a generation older, I think they’re either first cousins or Aekku is Jogjebi’s nephew or something.
I have exactly one reason for this.
Jogjebi is aware that Aekku started a coup…and he doesn’t immediately execute him for it.
Like Jogjebi orders an execution because someone implies he might not have the correct information, I think literal fucking treason should have gotten Aekku immediately executed. And the only reason I could think of for why he wouldn’t be is that this would be detrimental to Jogjebi in some way. Like sparking some serious family drama.

Fowl Village and Guard Commander
In hindsight, the whole journalist plot in episode five is kind of funny.
Tumblr media
The appearance of the small group that is let in suggests that quite a few journalists in the area are birds, like chickens and ostriches. Either that, or someone (Geumsaegi) deliberately called for birds.
Tumblr media
Bold move for Jogjebi to allow them in, considering the grudges that might be held given Fowl Village (ignoring the bird in the cage behind him, no one comments on that).
Tumblr media
Naturally, they don't trust him one bit, and are likely to be a bit biased. And reporters and journalists are nosy, which allows Geumsaegi to obtain some information.
Tumblr media
But it is likely that the birds ALSO hold grudges towards Flower Hill for what happened to Fowl Village, considering Flower Hill did not step in to stop or even help.
When Squirrel Village sends out the invitations in episode one, Fowl Village noticeably does not receive one.
Tumblr media
Considering the fact that the squirrels could SEE the devastation from their own village, suggests that Fowl Village would have normally received an invitation.
So not only does Fowl Village get attacked, any survivors would find that their closest neighbors are now quietly pretending that they do not exist, because acknowledging them being attacked would force them to think about maybe needing to protect themselves, when it was easier to pretend it could not happen to them, or Uncle Gom would take care of it.
Has to sting, and make birds around the world a bit salty at Flower Hill as well.
Guard Commander
I haven't really seen anyone talk about this much, but it is implied that Geumsaegi was hanging around as the Guard Commander for quite some time before he was sent to specifically get closer to Commander Jogjebi and gain more of his trust.
Tumblr media
He is in charge of guard duties, naturally, including maintaining the sentry posts. All of the sentry guards know him well enough to give him any information he desires that might have been classified otherwise, such as the location of the General Commander.
Tumblr media
I wonder what his time infiltrating the guard was like? And how many other squirrels were positioned in the area that could have been sent in instead of him?
This is also why he has to use the journalists, since he did not have a high enough position to know about the Special Corps and their plans at the time. Once he becomes Envoy and Special Aide, people just tell him things, or he can get in and bug the area.
But as Guard Commander, he would have had to network in order to gain information. Which means there are some mice who think they know him very well as their superior and friend.

How about the general weasel commander?
Tumblr media
Oh yeah! Here you go!
I was about to post this when I remembered I should try to push myself a little bit again. So I tried the hard round brush. Every time I use it I hate the outcome. I just don’t know how to use it. This piece I would say looks okay. I like how it added a bit more 3 dimensionality to him. Especially in the face. This time I also thought specifically about from where the lighting is coming from. It looks like he’s practicing kendo in the early morning.
A while ago I started watching Revolutionary Girl Utena where I learned about it (I knew about it before vaguely). Amazing anime. 16 year old me would have loved it. I mainly made him do kendo because I like to imagine him fighting my OC Shiho Tenshi. Who would win? Kendo or fencing? I’m sure someone made a YouTube video about it.
Commander Jobgebi is from a royal family in my AU. Probably descended from that world’s samurais. He’s very traditional due to how he was raised. He also likes to read and is highly educated. Most weasels don’t like him, finding his views outdated. Because of that he’s lonely. His only friend being While Weasel who shares similar opinions. But with him working on Sturgeon they don’t get to see each other often. Lastly Commander Jobgebi has an off again on again relationship with my OC Shiho Tenshi. Their main conflict stemming from him wanting them to adopt a more feminine presentation and become his wife.
I thought I would also go into a bit of a history of my Squirrel and Hedgehog AU in this ask. It would be useful to have it somewhere written down.
SO! The land we know as Flower Hill used to be a bunch of separate villages. A lot of them with long standing conflicts. That was until the Mouse Kingdom occupied the villages and called the new territory Flower Hill. OG Mouse Kingdom was south of Flower Hill. I made up some sappy story that the mouse king named the territories Flower Hill because they were a romantic gift to his wife.
Now I dunno. That was about 500 years before the events of the show. 20 years before the events of the show Flower Hill liberates itself from the Mouse Kingdom. There’s a lot more detail I could go into about that as it involves the wolves. But in the end they managed to send the mice back to the south.
This caused a crisis for the Mouse Kingdom. All their agriculture was being done in the north while the south was industrial. Leading to the Mouse Kingdom suffering a food shortage. The workers stopped going to factories. Instead going to the streets to protest. Everyone is fed up with the monarchy. Even the military.
The weasels see a chance to heh weasel their way in. Sending COMMANDER JOGJEBI! Remember when this post was about him? He goes to meet with the mouse king. Along the way bumping into the crown prince Mulmangcho. The weasels offer aid with the unrest. Provided they get something in return…
The king isn’t stupid. He might be delusional, thinking he can solve the situation by himself. But he knows if he took the offer he would become nothing more than a puppet.
It didn’t amount to much in the end. The weasels backed the rebels who eventually over threw the monarchy. Bringing us to the time the show takes place.
Damn. Did not expect this post to be so long. Oh well. Hope you enjoyed what I wrote.
