Joana bas Strome, the Coeurlfist (MNK)
“If I were to judge someone, and I’m not one to do so, I would because of their motives. The side in which we fight is but a whim of the circumstances.”
Daughter of a family of Ala Mhigan high dignataries, Joana was born in Gyr Abania, but her parents shortly fled their homeland after her birth when the Garlean Empired occupied it. The Strome had participated in the rebellion against Mad King Theodoric, and well-aware of how the people treated those who accepted the Garlean authority, they decided to settle in the Ilsabardian provinces, in a town called Imenor. The family was welcomed in Garlean territory and their position and respect towards Garlemald certainly helped their situation. Beralt Strome and his wife Regina Wyke were soon granted Garlean citizenship and the according title to their status, and so was Joana. She had been born almost blind, and in the years to come magitek would prove quite important to help her overcome this handicap. Two years after the Strome arrived to Imenor was born Joana’s sister, Aelnora, and as Garlean citizens they were taught in Garlean schools and, in their teens, they received military basic training. Joana was especially good at martial arts, because despite the magitek visors she used, they were not perfect, and relying on her heightened senses greatly helped her in fighting with her own body. Besides, her parents had told her tales of the legendary Fist of Rhalgr, the Ala Mhigan monk order; Joana was proud of being a Garlean citizen, but she felt great curiosity for the culture of the land in which she was born.
When Joana was eighteen years old, the Battle of Carteneau happened in Eorzea, and the stories about what came to pass spread through the provinces like wildfire. Joana understood neither why the Empire was so keen in conquering Eorzea nor why the Eorzeans hated the Empire so bitterly. Her parents never picked a side out of prudency, and that left Joana with more questions in the air. She wanted to understand both sides of the conflict, and so she decided to travel to Eorzea as an adventurer and learn why they opposed the Garlean Empire, and when she finished her military service at twenty-three years old she left Imenor and journeyed to Ul’dah, where she enlisted in the Pugilists’ Guild. Of course, she hid her full name, Joana bas Strome, which would have marked her as a Garlean citizen, and simply went by Joana Strome, even though she wished she did not have to.
She quickly rose through the ranks of the guild, and eventually this led her to be recommended as one of two bodyguards to the eminent Professor Erik. The other was the Ala Mhigan monk Widargelt, and during the mission he felt Joana’s potential. He offered to train her in the way of the monk in their missions with Professor Erik, and Joana accepted, eager to train in the discipline she had heard so much about. Despite clashing with her mentor more than once, they came to understand one another, and Joana gained a lot of insight from an Ala Mhigan about the Garlean repression in Gyr Abania. When she was deemed a full-fledged monk, she traveled the land, more than once acting as a mediator in conflicts between the stranded XIVth Legion and the locals because of her knowledge of the Garlean customs and ways.
Then the Eorzean Alliance began preparations to war and liberate Ala Mhigo from the Garlean Empire. Joana would have not entered a conflict that would have set her against what she considered her homeland if the Scions of the Seventh Dawn had not been searching for adventurers gifted with the Echo to form a special unit under the Warrior of Light’s command. Ever since she was a child and dreamed of a starshower, Joana had the gift, and during her travels she found a Light Crystal of Lightning, and so she was a perfect candidate. However, she was the last to answer the call, hesitant to go to war against Garlemald, but she ended up reasoning that this unit might need her knowledge if at some point there could be an understanding between both sides. She traveled to Rhalgr’s Reach, where she would meet her comrades the following night. She incidentally spent that night with a Roegadyn woman that happened to be one of these comrades, Leona Wyznloef, and it would become nothing more than an anecdote of sorts, and amusingly enough brought them together as closest friends. As the Eorzean Alliance and the Ala Mhigan Resistance fought the XIIth Legion and the cruel viceroy, crown prince Zenos yae Galvus, Joana came to believe that in freeing Ala Mhigo and Garlemald both of him, she would be doing a great service to her homeland, now that she had seen what could become of the Empire with him in the throne. Later on, and now part of the Guardians of Light, after Ala Mhigo and Doma’s liberation, learning of the internal conflicts in politic affairs, Joana was convinced that peace would only be possible if the Empire was ridden of corruption, and as citizen, it was her duty to make it come to pass.
However, Garlemald’s problems would have to wait, for the Call to the First reflection of the Source had to be answered. The Guardians of Light, the Guardians of Darkness come from an averted future and the Order of Wayward Echoes joined forces to save the shard from the Light, and Joana and her comrades crossed the Rift aboard the Order’s interdimensional ship, The Ouroboros, for the Warrior of Light had been the only one summoned by the Crystal Exarch. Never in her wildest dreams Joana would have thought that her homeland would be present in a different world, much less in the form of First Emperor Solus zos Galvus, or rather the Ascian Paragon Emet-Selch. She felt quite conflicted between her mistrust towards his Ascian nature and the respect for the founding father of her country, but both feelings eventually became genuine curiosity as Emet-Selch told them the story of the Ancients and a star yet unsundered. Even when he turned against them upon the Warrior of Light’s failure to contain the Lightwardens’ Light, Joana had nothing but respect and admiration for the Paragon’s dedication to his people, and decided to approach the coming showdown as a chance to show the First Emperor that there was still hope, and that his work had not been in vain. At Emet-Selch’s final request, Joana bas Strome, proud citizen of Garlemald, swore to uphold his memory, his legacy: strive for mankind and civilization to achieve what he dreamed of, and tear down the barriers that tore people apart to bring them together in cooperation.

Selection: “I’m hella ready!”
Job: Monk.
Weapons: Knuckles.
AI Behavior: The most aggressive of all DPS, Joana will not forsake a second of dealing damage if possible. This leaves her vulnerable to AoE’s if she is in the middle of a DPS burst since she will not bother avoiding it, and she more often than not will plunge herself into the pulls before the tank. However, her damage output and skill speed compensates for these quirks. She will also use Riddle of Earth if her health drops too much, and help healers via Mantra in case of need. She is also the fastest character to use Limit Break, the very second the meter fills.
Battle Lines:
“Let me at ‘em!” —Starting Attack Line
“I’m gonna wreck the hell out of you!” —Using Specialty Skills, Variation 1 (Six-sided Star)
“I’m in the mood for pummeling!” —Using Specialty Skills, Variation 2 (Tornado Kick)
“Time for a thorough team thrashing!” —Assisting an ally, Variation 1 (Brotherhood)
Limit Break:
• “See ya!” —Using Limit Break I (Braver)
• “Now I’m hella mad!”—Using Limit Break II (Bladedance)
• “Oh, you’re already dead!” —Using Limit Break III (Final Heaven)
KO’d:
• “… Dammit!” —Variation 1
• “I didn’t… see this coming…” —Variation 2
Revived:
• “I’m back, and hella out for revenge!” —Variation 1
• “Hah! Too strong to stay down!” —Variation 2

The Guardians of Light, Darkness and the Order of Wayward Echoes’ Ancient Biographies
Nike Lotice (X’wyhn Lehn)
A young woman born in the small seaside town of Solens in the southern continent of the unsundered star. She got a reccommendation writ to course her studies in Akadaemia Anyder, in the great capital of Amaurot. The day the application period opened at the Bureau of the Secretariat, she chanced upon the same bench as two other young students: introvert Hades and cheerful Hythlodaeus. Despite their many differences, they soon became inseparable. Nike specialized in healing and strategy, and she graduated as the best of her promotion. From the very start, she liked to travel the star to learn of other places and life styles, which she would share with her friends upon her return, and this eventually granted her the seat of Azem the Wanderer in the Convocation of Fourteen of Amaurot.
Calypso Myrine (Lyanne Blanchateau)
A polyfacetic student who entered Akadaemia Anyder because of her brilliant grades in many disciplines, in particular magic-related ones. She was one of Nike, Hades and Hythlodaeus’ classmates, and after their graduation she began working in the Bureau of the Architect as creative director and personal assistant to Hythlodaeus when he was promoted to Chief of the institution.
Zetha Nissa (Yansa Ru’shi)
A young, shy student of Akadaemia Anyder who was admitted after her essays on teleportation magicks. She was one of Nike, Hades and Hythlodaeus’ classmates, and when she graduated, Zetha entered the order of Amaurot’s Wardens as creative engineer and researcher. She is believed to be the pioneer in the creation of aetherytes as a means of quick travel for the Wardens to faraway places.
Damaris Theisiphyle (Wyznloef “Leona” Alyrsthalwyn)
This young student of Akadaemia Anyder was mostly known for her promiscuous nature, but her talent for lyrical art and rhetoric allowed her to be admitted, and she was one of Nike, Hades and Hythlodaeus’ classmates. After her graduation, Damaris began her career as independent poet, and she was a renowned orator who never left anyone indifferent when she took part in the Hall of Rhetoric’s debates.
Hesperos Thalestrys (Mikhel Shir’valah)
Hesperos was a precocious student who earned his place at Akadaemia Anyder two years before the usual age, and he was admitted alongside his elder sister Deyanira. They were both Nike, Hades and Hythlodaeus’ classmates, and Hesperos soon showed great talent in aetherology and phantomology. After his graduation, he entered the research team in Akadaemia Anyder, and due to his excellent record he was destined to concept research at Anamnesis Anyder.
Deyanira Thalestrys (Samra Shir’valah)
Young Deyanira entered Akadaemia Anyder alongside her younger brother Hesperos because of her essays about justice and personal defense, and she was one of Nike, Hades and Hythlodaeus’ classmates. Once she graduated, she joined Amaurot’s Wardens, and years later she was transferred to Anamnesis Anyder’s security corps as chief of emergency operations.
Alexios Nycanor (Ryuzan Kyouko)
This young man, despite his clumsiness, earned his place at Akadaemia Anyder for his essays on protection and healing applied to items and conflictive locations, and he was one of Nike, Hades and Hythlodaeus’ classmates. After he graduated, which he did with no small amount of effort, he joined Amaurot’s Wardens as Akadaemia Anyder’s experimental teams’ security chief.
Praxedes Bryseis (Joana bas Strome)
A young student whose thesis in which she elaborated on the people’s dependance on creation magicks forgetting their own bodies’ potential as aetherial amplifiers earned her a place in Akadaemia Anyder, and she was one of Nike, Hades and Hythlodaeus’ classmates. Once she graduated, Praxedes spent her time between serving in Amaurot’s Wardens and defending her rather revolutionary ideas in the Hall of Rhetoric.
Myrias Anaxyleia (Nagi Uranai)
Born with the gift of prophecy, Myrias was initially admitted in Akadaemia Anyder to study said ability and she was one of Nike, Hades and Hythlodaeus’ classmates. She turned out to be a brilliant student whose specialty was astroaetherology, and after her graduation she was offered a position in Anamnesis Anyder since her visions might give the researchers completely new concepts to study. It is believed she made a whole file of prophecies about the Final Days, the last excerpt being the most known after the cataclysm.
Eirene Laodoce (Enia Eylt)
An exchange student from overseas who was reccommended to enter Akadaemia Anyder for her work on magiteknology and aetherochemistry, disciplines still to be explored back in the day because they were not completely magic in nature, but magic applied. She was part of Nike, Hades and Hythlodaeus’ class, and when she graduated, Eirene began working in the Bureau of the Architect as creator and safety supervisor.
Dimas Antenor (Victoriel Matiere)
A young man whose intrinsic talent, nothing to write home about, would have not gave him the place in Akadaemia Anyder if not because his determination and effort to overcome his shortcomings earned him the reccommendation, and he was one of Nike, Hades and Hythlodaeus’ classmates. He greatly struggled to graduate, but once he did, he entered Akadaemia Anyder’s phytobiology research team under Paragon Halmarut of the Convocation of Fourteen’s direction.
Thalassa Aoida (Dhemswys Swarnahctwyn)
This young woman earned her place in Akadaemia Anyder for her theory on using a tide-controlling wind-aspected matrix for safe sailing at high seas, and she studied in the same class as Nike, Hades and Hythlodaeus. After her graduation she was offered to work at Akadaemia Anyder under Paragon Mitron of the Convocation of Fourteen’s direction in the department of ichtiology.
Danae Aryon (L’nhei Mhaat)
A young woman who entered Akadaemia Anyder alongside her twin brother Anakletos, though their studies were quite different, for Danae researched the intrinsical aether of every individual as source of strength, both physical and mental. She was one of Nike, Hades and Hythlodaeus’ classmates, and after her graduation she entered Amaurot’s Wardens as sentinel and advisor of the rest of her unit, assigned to Anamnesis Anyder’s protection.
Anakletos Aryon (L’zhai Tia)
This young man entered Akadaemia Anyder alongside his twin sister Danae; however, Anakletos was fascinated by phantomology. He studied in the same class as Nike, Hades and Hythlodaeus, and when he graduated, his essays on phantomology earned him a place as researcher in Akadaemia Anyder under Paragon Lahabrea of the Convocation of Fourteen’s direction, though years later he was transferred to Anamnesis Anyder to research and create pure concepts.
Xenia Diotyma (Aina Roig i Valls)
An overseas student who came to study at Akadaemia Anyder because of a reccommendation, Xenia focused her essays on emotion and their impact on the aetherial flow of individuals and if trauma affected temporally or permantently the results of creation magicks. She was part of Nike, Hades and Hythlodaeus’ class, and after her graduation she turned down positions of greater renown to research the relationship between aetherology and psychology, and she was usually invited to debates at the Hall of Rhetoric. Her studies on aetheropsychology were of great relevance after the first signs of the Sound’s effects.
Hypate Augea (Yrere Yre)
A brilliant student who earned her place at Akadaemia Anyder for her essays on phantomology applied to healing and magicked wards through the creation of familiars meant to amplify aetherial flow. She was one of Nike, Hades and Hythlodaeus’ classmates, she graduated as one of the best of the promotion and she was granted a place in Anamnesis Anyder as researcher and cataloger of concepts.
Eunice Astheria (Rena Zjene)
A rather rebellious student who entered Akadaemia Anyder mainly because of her unorthodox point of view, written down in many essays, about the society of their time, and she was part of Nike, Hades and Hythlodaeus’ class. Her arguments, always well elaborated but extraordinarily passionate, turned her into a great leader and orator. After she graduated, and despite many who opposed her ideas, Eunice always had quite the audience whenever she took part on a debate in the Hall of Rhetoric to discuss the issues to be addressed of the Ancients’ society.
Leandros Hyeron (Sohru Arshraf)
A young man with unorthodox artistic aspirations, for he believed in individual expression and creative inspiration through dance and music. His essays about these topics earned him a place at Akadaemia Anyder and he studied in the same class as Nike, Hades and Hythlodaeus. He was admitted to Anamnesis Anyder after he graduated to research abstract concepts like music and emotional expression, though that did not prevent him from becoming a performer of great renown in Amaurot’s theaters.
Aethra Alitheia (Aelun Arulaq / Melinoe of Dalvalan)
Daughter of he who at the time held the seat of Emet-Selch in the Convocation of Fourteen and a young woman with great creative abilities, she had no issues being granted a place to study at Akadaemia Anyder. She was one of Nike, Hades and Hythlodaeus’ classmates and focused on sorcery and phantomology, and after she graduated it was not long before she entered the most specialized research team in Anamnesis Anyder. Apparently Aethra might have been romantically involved with her former classmate Hythlodaeus, and it is believed her phantomology research include drafts for the requirements of Zodiark’s great summoning during the Final Days.
Messene Elakhate (Kinnara Rhoda)
A young woman from overseas who came to Amaurot to study at Akadaemia Anyder for her essays on ethics and sense of duty to those in need. She was one of Nike, Hades and Hythlodaeus’ classmates, and though many thought she would focus on the rhetorical arts at her graduation, Messene chose to join Amaurot’s Wardens, and for her strong principles and loyalty she was promoted to bodyguard of the Convocation of Fourteen.
Euryleia Persys (Imi Lyehga Rhusdoya)
Scion of a prestigious family in her city of birth, this young woman traveled to Amaurot to study phantomology at Akadaemia Anyder since she was greatly gifted in that discipline. She was one of Nike, Hades and Hythlodaeus’ classmates, and after she graduated, Euryleia entered one of the phantomology research teams in Akadaemia Anyder under Paragon Lahabrea of the Convocation of Fourteen’s direction. Many theories about the creation of no few Guardian Forces are atributed to her.
Iphis Eneos (Maral Qestir / Maral Adewale Nbumko)
A young man who traveled to Amaurot from the southern continent. He obtained his place at Akadaemia Anyder for his essays about combining opposite aspects in magicks, back in the day a theory that was developed in overseas lyceums. He was part of Nike, Hades and Hythlodaeus’ class, and after his graduation Iphis moved between Akadaemia Anyder and the Bureau of the Architect as he polished the art of spellweaving. In time he became an advisor for the Convocation of Fourteen in elemental issues.
Leokhares Agenor (Ivanov Maevsch)
This young man was said to be able to speak with the star itself because of his ability to interpret the aetherial flow of the land, and he came to Amaurot from the east to study at Akadaemia Anyder. He was in the same class as Nike, Hades and Hythlodaeus, and he stood out particularly in astroaetherology. After his graduation, Leokhares became part of Anamnesis Anyder’s research team, and during the time period that preceded the Final Days, his aportations to the reports warning of the possible adverse effects that might entail summoning a Guardian Force as powerful as Zodiark are worth mentioning. Apparently, these reports were part of the arguments wielded by Venat and her followers as justification to sunder Zodiark through Hydaelyn, though it is unknown if they used Leokhares’ research with his consentment.
Amphion Ireyas (Hector Blake)
A young prodigy from northern lands who obtained a reccommendation of his city’s lyceum to study at Akadaemia Anyder, and because of this he traveled to Amaurot. He was one of Nike, Hades and Hythlodaeus’ classmates, and he specialized in magicking wards and aetherial barriers and catalyzing pure aether into vessels. After his graduation, Amphion continued his study of aetherial catalysts in the Words of Lahabrea at Akadaemia Anyder as part of the research team. His essays are believed to be the foundation for imbuing memory in organic crystal vessels that much later, in the sundered world, would play a fundamental role in the Allagan royal technology to clone their scions with the memories of their originals implanted and intact through magicked blood.

The Guardians of Light is how are collectively known the Warrior of Light and her seven companions. The Warrior of Light originally worked alone or with the Scions of the Seventh Dawn, but this would change with the war efforts for Ala Mhigo and Doma’s liberation.
The Scions of the Seventh Dawn, aware of the lacking resources against the might of the Garlean army, spread the word that they were looking for adventurers gifted with the Echo to form a special unit commanded by the Warrior of Light herself. The call was successful, and the comrades-to-be met in Rhalgr’s Reach. At first it was merely a military unit, but it turned out that each one of them had an elemental Crystal of Light, and combined with the six in possession of the Warrior of Light, their strength was astounding. And so they started to be known as the Guardians of Light, steadfast battle companions and stewards of the Warrior of Light. Though they do not necessarily travel together all times, they invariably band to face the greatest challenges, splitting in fewer numbers for exploring and covering more ground than as a sole unit.
Eight are the Guardians of Light, and these are their members:
X’wyhn Lehn, the Dragonsong. Seeker of the Sun Miqo’te and Warrior of Light. (WHM)
Lyanne Blanchateau, the Fatewalker. Duskwight Elezen and Guardian of the Light Crystal of Earth. (RDM)
Yansa Ru’shi, the Shadow. Xaela Au Ra and Guardian of the Light Crystal of Wind. (NIN)

Samra Shir’valah, the Adversary. Keeper of the Moon Miqo’te and Guardian of the Ocean Half of the Light Crystal of Water, shared with her brother. (SAM)
Ryuzan Kyouko, the Oathkeeper. Raen Au Ra and Guardian of the Light Crystal of Ice. (PLD)

【basics】
Name: Wyznloef “Leona” Alyrsthalwyn, best known as Leona Wyznloef. Epithet: The Skysinger. Age: 27 Race: Hellsguard Roegadyn. Gender: Female. Sexuality: (Extremely active) bisexual. Nameday: the 14th Sun of the 3rd Umbral Moon. Guardian Deity: Rhalgr the Destroyer, god of destruction and breaker of worlds. Elemental Crystal: Fire. Marital Status: Single. Voice: Laura Bailey.
【appearance】
Hair: Leona’s hair is blond with reddish highlights and she keeps it short so it does not get in the way when shooting arrows. Eyes: As it is said to happen to children born with an exceptional strong Echo, she has odd eyes: her left eye is amberine, while her right eye is a striking white. Height & Build: Leona, standing at 2′22m, is tall even for her race. She has a nicely toned body that does not diminish her explosive femininity, and she loves making a show of it. She is especially proud of her legs. Distinguishing Marks: She sports a tattoo in the left side of her face. The leonine nose that all Hellsguard Roegadyn have is particularly notable in her, which earned her her many aliases involving lions. Common Accessories: While not much of a jewelry fan —she firmly believes they are just trinkets that disguise a woman’s natural beauty— she usually wears a necklace with a red gem and a ring. She is also quite fond of her Thavnairian turban, since it reminds her of her homeland.
【personal】
Profession: Scion of the Seventh Dawn, formerly Guardian of Light and currently Guardian of Darkness. She is an exceptional bard that has been training her archery and performance skills since she was still a teenager. Hobbies: Aside from the performing arts, Leona is mostly known for her bed prowess, and she considers a night ill-spent if she does not take anyone with her. Languages: Common [fluent], modern Thavnairian [fluent]. Birthplace: Radz-at-Han, the capital city of the Near Eastern nation of Thavnair. Current Residence: She has no residence, as she prefers to wander and not feel attached to anything or anyone. Religious Beliefs: Though Leona does not deny the existence of the divine, she holds no reverence for it. She considers gods care not for mortals, and henceforth mortals should not care for gods either. Fears: While not exactly a fear, she feels uncomfortable with the notion of emotional attachment.
【relationship】
Spouse: N/A Children: N/A Parents: Alyrsthal Sunnkoelsyn, father, deceased. Lihtkoena Sylbtyrwyn, mother, deceased. Both were former fighters in the Hannish bloodsands that fell in love. Shortly after Leona was born, they went to defend Thavnair’s borders against the Garlean Empire’s skrimishes, and died during one of these. Siblings: N/A Other Relatives: None that she knows. Pets: Jokingly, Leona calls her favored way of traveling, a Far Eastern relic known as the Nezha Chariot, her “pet”.

【biography】
Orphaned Lioness: Hailing from the Near Eastern capital city of Thavnair, Radz-at-Han, she was the only daughter of the renowned gladiator Alyrsthal Sunnkoelsyn, who had won a lot of tournaments in the bloodsands. One of these duels he lost was against a pugilist named Lihtkoena Sylbtyrnwyn, and despite the spectacular defeat, Alyrsthal felt quite the attraction towards his rival. Soon after, he and Lihtkoena formed a battle duo, and this in turn made a romance bloom. They married a year after their first duel, and few months later Lihtkoena got pregnant. Unfortunately, these events happened during an escalation of tensions in the borders of Thavnair with the Garlean Empire, and several skrimishes broke out. After their daughter, whom they named Wyznloef, was born, Alyrsthal and Lihtkoena joined the Hannish forces as mercenaries to make some money to sustain their family, and so they left little Wyznloef in a wet nurse’s care.
The conflict favored the Hannish side, but in one of the skrimishes in which Alyrsthal and Lihtkoena took part, the imperials deployed magitek weaponry, and both died along the rest of their unit. So their daughter Wyznloef was left an orphan and was raised by her wet nurse, who was barely able to feed both of them. When Wyznloef was only ten summers old, her guardian died from an illness, and she found herself truly alone and forced to survive in the streets and slums of Radz-at-Han.
Life in Radz-at-Han: It was a hard life, but young Wyznloef learned to survive in the underworld of the city. She stole and did some dirty work, and because of this she earned some reputation around the slums not only of Radz-at-Han, but of close towns. She was a very tall, imposing young woman, and because of this when she was fourteen she began offering her services as a mercenary; however, Wyznloef chose a very different weapon than her parents, and began honing her skills as an archer.
It was not the only way Wyznloef made some money, though. She was a very sexually active individual, and so began offering her services as a prostitute in the taverns of the slums of Radz-at-Han. And she was good at this, because she had some natural attractive for both men and women, and her bed prowess soon became very well known. All of this combined, being a skilled mercenary and a very professional prostitute, made her earn many names, the most popular being Wyznloef the Lioness, and comparisons to lions ended up with her picking up the nickname “Leona”.
As years went on, Leona’s name as a mercenary was well known enough that she no longer needed prostitution to earn money, but she kept doing it the same way but for free, choosing whom she would take to bed. It was not a bad way of life, yet Radz-at-Han was turning too small for someone like her. She wanted to travel the world and become a renowned archer and adventurers, inspired by the bards who came to the taverns.
At twenty-four summers old, Leona had saved enough money to travel to Eorzea, where she knew of the Archers’ Guild of the Gods’ Quiver of the city-state of Gridania. She wanted to train further in her chosen weapon and receive proper instruction, and so achieve fortune and glory as an adventurer. And so she boarded a ship bound to Eorzea and traveled by carriage to the Twelveswood.
Way of the Bard: Though an inusual discipline amongst Hellsguard Roegadyn, Leona would soon shine amongst the recruits of the Archers’ Guild. In a society like Gridania’s, she had to keep her habits in check, much to her chagrin. But it proved worthy when she was chosen to ask the legendary Jehantel the Godsbow, a master of archery turned bard. Leona had always had her own sensitivity for music, and this caught Jehantel’s attention and accepted to teach her in the ways of the bard and high archery.
While learning from Jehantel, Leona also left the Archers’ Guilds and became a full-fledged adventurer. She would soon become known wherever she went, for both reasons that made her famous in her homeland.
She spent the three following years after coming to Eorzea traveling, honing her skills and bedding people, as was her wont. Leona was beholden to none, but in the wake of the Eorzean Alliance’s offensive to retake Ala Mhigo from the Garlean Empire she heard that the Scions of the Seventh Dawn were recruiting adventurers gifted with the Echo for the campaign. As she was not prone to refuse a good fight and adventure, Leona answered the call and journeyed to Gyr Abania to join her new comrades in the unit formed under the command of the Warrior of Light. The night of her arrival to Rhalgr’s Reach, Leona slept with another adventurer, a Highlander woman by the name of Joana Strome, unaware that she was also one of the chosen for the unit. When they found out the next day, Leona considered it a fun incident, though she resolved it would never happen again, as she believes those kind of relationships only sour teamwork, and that is why she never tried to seduce any of her other comrades. Despite the “incident” as she called it, she stroke a close friendship with Joana, and together with her companions they journeyed with the Warrior of Light to liberate Doma and Ala Mhigo, and stood with her during the following crisis, including the Battle of the Ghimlyt Dark.
A Song of Light and Dark: After the Call to the First in order to restore Darkness in the shard, Leona became one of the Guardians of Darkness. She would follow X’wyhn Lehn, now the Warrior of Darkness, in their new purpose. The prospect of traveling to a whole new world thrills her, and she is eager to learn about the First and all the promises and experiences that await her there.

Wyznloef “Leona” Alyrsthalwyn, the Skysinger (BRD)
“I welcome everyone life makes cross my path. Either as lover, as target practice or both. I reap benefits nonetheless from the experience.”
The Mistress of Lions, the Roaring Arrow, Wyznloef the Lioness— epithets like these earned Wyznloef Alyrsthalwyn the alias of Leona, by which everyone in the adventuring sphere knows her. She was the only daughter of a couple of pit fighters in Radz-at-Han, the capital city of Thavnair. However, she was just a newborn when both her parents enlisted as mercenaries to defend Thavnair’s borders against the Garlean Empire, and Wyznloef was left in care of a wet nurse. Tragedy befell the family, for even though Thavnair remained independent, Wyznloef’s parents died during a skrimish in which they were surprised by magitek armament. Wyznloef’s elderly wet nurse had to raise her, and through great difficulty, but when the child was merely ten years old, her caretaker died, and she was left to fend for herself in the streets.
Young Wyznloef had to resort to whatever means necessary to survive in those harsh years. It helped that despite her youth, she was a tall, strong Roegadyn female and her temper when angered was nothing to scoff at. She began to be known as “the Lioness of the Alleys”, and she started her career as a mercenary at fourteen, when she first picked up a bow. In the following years, throughout her many difficult times to earn money, she came not only to resort to selling her bow but her body as well; however, alongside the starshower she witnessed in a dream and awoke the Echo when she was a child came the ability to charm whoever she set her eyes in, and being an early bloomer and extremely active bisexual, Wyznloef had little-to-none troubles earning money every night. Because of her skills, her imposing presence and renowned bed prowess, people referred to her as Wyznloef the Lioness or, simply, “Leona” Wyznloef. She rather liked her alias, so she kept it.
It came the day she no longer needed to sell her body to earn money, skilled as she was as a mercenary, but Leona never dropped the habit of entering taverns at dusk and have her choice of lover, or lovers, for the night. She enjoyed the tales of heroism and adventuring the bards sang as people drank, and she dreamed to become more than just a mercenary. And so, when she was twenty-four, once she had saved enough money to travel to foreign lands, Leona boarded a ship to lands of Eorzea: her aim was to get to the city-state of Gridania and join the Archers’ Guild to properly train in her self-taught weapon of choice. She quickly rose through their ranks and earned quite the popularity in town, but what truly set her path was meeting the old archer and bard Jehantel, who was searching for an apprentice to whom he would teach the arts of the song. Leona always had a soft spot for those ballads and epics, and Jehantel took her under his wing. Thus she learned the discipline of bards, mixing inspiring songs with peerless bow skills, and a year later she was recognized by her mentor as a full-fledged bard. That was the beginning of Leona’s travels throughout the land as an adventurer, leaving quite the impression wherever she went.
When the Scions of the Seventh Dawn aimed to form a special unit to assist the Warrior of Light in the liberation of Ala Mhigo, Leona, gifted with the Echo and bearer of a Light Crystal of Fire she had found as she journeyed, answered the call. When she arrived to Rhalgr’s Reach, where she would meet her new comrades the following day, she —as it had always been her wont— spent the night with a Highlander Hyuran woman she had met at the tavern. It turned out she was one of her new companions, Joana Strome, and while Leona, who never took any lovers seriously, did not give it a second thought, she insisted that she would never do it again, for too much intimacy with coworkers always ends messing things up, as she says. In any case, Leona became one of the Guardians of Light, and stood by the Warrior of Light from that moment forth.
The Call to the First brought to the Source the Order of Wayward Echoes and made the Guardians of Light, the Guardians of Darkness —come from an averted terrible future after Ala Mhigo’s liberation— and the Order join forces to save the First reflection from the Light. Since the Warrior of Light was the only one properly summoned, Leona and the others had to travel to the shard aboard the Order’s interdimensional ship, The Ouroboros. Their journey throughout Norvrandt was of great interest to Leona, who wanted to know everything she could about the people and their history, but all of it paled in comparison with what the Ascian Paragon, Emet-Selch, had to share. Leona felt great curiosity towards him —and not only because he proved immune to her charming gift, but because of the incredible tales he told about the world of eld. When the situation took the worst of turns and they had no choice but to confront Emet-Selch, as they all learned the truth of Amaurot and the Ancients, of Hydaelyn and Zodiark, and heard Emet-Selch’s final request, Leona swore to spread the word of the Ancients’ deeds and stories through songs she herself would write, for bards and minstrels to tell the people of the glory of a star unsundered wherever they went.
