I am still reading the jjk manga (i am like around chapter 160), but I wanted to ask you who your fav character and what your favorite ability is :]

The way I saw this man and said "oh, problematic yet sympathetic person with serious trauma and mental issues? lemme make him my blorbo" is unreal

(Tied for second tho is Geto [i can't keep gojo from his bf even in my list of favourites], Yuuta, and Megumi, possibly also Shoko, Nanami, and Maki)

Favourite ability tho? God, idk, they're all really cool. I think Hakari's is by far the funniest and Gojo's is the coolest (I love the mixing of physics and magic systems). Honourable mentions go to Megumi for being able to basically have a pet dog whenever he wants, Todo for how surprisingly broken something called 'Boogie Woogie' is, and Yuji for 'haha get punched twice bitch'

I myself am on chapter 198, but I've had the entire thing spoiled for me (willingly, I need spoilers to get myself invested in something)(and leaks are tonight! I gotta fucking speed through the rest of this cause I want to at least read the last chapter when it officially releases on the site I read on, so I have only a couple weeks left)

Antonio probably feels excessively endeared to his tío Bruno, because when the rats “told him everything,” they probably gave him what is likely the greatest, glowing, 5-star review possible in a squeaky speedrun of joyful infodumping about their favorite human. They probably spent the whole time just gushing over how great he is and how well he takes care of them, and I think this is why Antonio wears that shy, but knowing smile on his face when he looks at Bruno from then on out. Because how can he NOT smile and feel close to him after hearing from so many animals about how much they love him??? I cry

Just finished Chapter 198 and had to have someone else's opinion about Maki for the sake my sanity.

(Vague Spoilers)

Maki and Mai's resolution in chapter 149 and the immediate aftermath were MENTAL and after 198 really solidified Maki as my favourite character (rather passively I might add). Her development as a character and her twinship with Mai is really interesting to me because it reminds me of an inverse of the Red Oni, Blue Oni twinship of Dante & Vergil from Devil May Cry.

In Devil May Cry, Dante, our hero, is presented as the red oni, and Vergil our blue.

In JJK, Maki our hero, is the blue Oni (self motivated, cold/reserved, calculated), while Mai is the red (Driven by others, hot-headed). You can even swap out Mai for Toji and the dynamic still fits (even if Maki and Tojo never formally met).

I love simple foils like this because they have the potential for such layered characters and relationships. The pay off in 198 really snuck up on me, especially with how Maki carries Mai and Toji with her (metaphorically speaking) and so seeing someone else see stuff like that is always awesome. Thanks @linkspooky, just what I needed after reading 198.

Zenin Maki: Family or Strength

Zenin Maki is one of the most complex characters in the story of Jujutsu Kaisen, she’s also one whose motivations we know a great deal about already due to her being featured in the prequel, and her continued development in the main series. In her character she represents one of the main themes of the series, the conflict between defining yourself individually (by who you are and what standards you set) or by defining yourself by the people around you (conforming or going with the expectations of other people). Maki’s struggles to be an indivudual in a world that has already written her off as a failure is pretty central to the themes of the story. MORE UNDER THE CUT.
