Plan India Sambhav
Jharkhand, home to 0.73 crore of India’s 24 crore adolescents aged between 10 and 19, has the third highest rate of child marriages in the country. 38% girls get married before the legal age of 18 years. In 2015, Plan India started ‘Sambhav’, an adolescent empowerment programme with support from UNICEF for reduction in child marriage and teenage pregnancy and increase in secondary education in six blocks of East Singhbhum district by 2019. With equal participation of adolescent girls and boys as their allies in 942 villages, the scale and the gender-transformative impact of Sambhav is unprecedented. Sambhav worked with 47,000 adolescents between 14–18 years by establishing a girls’ and boys’ adolescent group in each village. A youth who showed keen interest and leadership skills in each group was then groomed as a peer educator (PE) and trained in 10 life-skills modules such as decision making, problem solving, financial literacy and child rights. The PEs cascaded these trainings down to their youth groups. Sambhav also worked to fill gaps in forming and strengthening Child Protection Committees (CPCs). Vibrant village and block level CPCs worked in tandem to identify and address child protection issues in their regular meetings. Parents were oriented and mobilised on child rights issues. Intergenerational dialogues were established to spark conversations at panchayat and block-level meetings that were pivotal in giving children the opportunity and support needed to voice their concerns. Anganwadi Workers (AWWs) and Sahiyas were trained on CPC as well as other issues faced by adolescents. Their routine meetings were attended by Sambhav team members to drive AWWs to take on the health and nutritional issues of the adolescents. Sambhav and its youth champions prevented 40 child marriages in 6 months. Coming together of stakeholders has led to self-sustained youth empowerment supported by the larger community. Sambhav is now being merged with Tejaswini, a programme run by the Government of Jharkhand and the World Bank for socioeconomic empowerment of adolescent girls and young women. Tejaswini will be based on Sambhav’s learnings and will provide sustainability and continuity for the young community leaders shaped by Sambhav.
Highlights
22,643 adolescents (14,420 girls) reached through 1,614 adolescent groups and 1,878 peer educators trained
942 village-level CPCs with 8,241 members, 6 block-level CPCs and 42 parents’ groups established
3,562 FLWs, teachers and village-level CPC members trained to support vulnerable children and adolescents

Understanding Maintenance Law for Women
Facing matrimonial disputes and maintenance law can be a daunting task. For many women, understanding their rights and the legal processes is crucial to securing their rights. This is where the expertise of a maintenance lawyer for women becomes invaluable, especially in diverse legal landscapes like India.
The Essence of Maintenance Law in Matrimonial Disputes
At its core, the concept of maintenance in matrimonial disputes aims to restore the wife to the same level of comfort and lifestyle she enjoyed during her marriage. In India, the amount of maintenance, whether monthly or lump sum, is determined by the family court based on various factors, including the financial status of both parties.
Key Provisions Under Hindu Law
Section 24 of the Hindu Marriage Act, 1955: This section addresses maintenance pending litigation, ensuring neither party suffers due to poverty during legal proceedings. It's a crucial provision, especially in cases like Sandeep Kumar v. State of Jharkhand, where the court upheld the right to maintenance regardless of the nature of the main petition.
Section 25 of the Hindu Marriage Act, 1955: This section deals with permanent alimony and maintenance, considering changes in circumstances and the income or property of the non-applicant. Noteworthy cases like S.S. Bindra v. Tarvinder Kaur highlights the court's approach to changing financial situations in determining maintenance.
The Right to Maintenance: A Human Rights Perspective
The Supreme Court's stance, as seen in cases like Kusum Sharma vs. Mahinder Kumar Sharma, underscores that maintenance is more than a legal obligation; it's a facet of human rights. Delay in adjudicating maintenance cases is viewed as a violation of human dignity.
Supreme Court Guidelines on Maintenance
The landmark case of Rajnesh v. Neha set forth comprehensive guidelines on wife maintenance, addressing issues like overlapping jurisdiction, interim maintenance, and parameters for evaluating the maintenance quantum. These guidelines aim to bring uniformity and fairness to maintenance rulings.
The Role of a Family Lawyer in Gurgaon
In a city like Gurgaon, where the legal landscape is as dynamic as its socio-economic fabric, the role of a specialized family lawyer becomes crucial. They not only navigate the legal intricacies but also ensure that their clients' rights are upheld in the complex matrix of family law.
Empowerment Through Legal Assistance
Understanding maintenance law for women is key to empowerment and securing a stable future post-divorce or separation. For women in Gurgaon and beyond, consulting a family lawyer specializing in maintenance law can be a critical step in this journey. If you're facing such challenges, reaching out to Family Kanoon for expert guidance and representation could be your first step towards ensuring your rights and well-being.
Remember, having a deep understanding of the legal framework is beneficial to every woman. Although, expert legal assistance is valuable, so always look for the past experience and expertise on the subject matter of the lawyer. This will make the whole legal battle seamless.

Jharkhand Wipes Out Registration Charges On Property In Woman’s Name
A remarkable step has been taken by the Jharkhand state government supporting the women empowerment move. On Wednesday the government decided to forgo registration fee on properties registered on the names of any women.
In a press release government officials said that no registration and stamp fee would be charged for any immovable property purchased in the name of any female member of any family. Only Re. 1 token stamp money will be collected. This decision was made public in a review meeting of Land and Revenue Department review in Ranchi. Jharkhand CM Raghubar Das was the honorable president of the meeting, who also put lights on complete digitization on the entire area map of the state. In this meeting The Land and Revenue Department updated that at present online registry system is fully accessible across the state. To bring in women investors in the realty sector leading banks have already reduced housing interest rates across the country. In many states of the country women pay lower stamp duty. In Delhi and Haryana stamp duty charge is 2 per cent less. Thus, it’s advantageous for a couple to buy any immovable property in name of the woman. Women are also eligible of a tax benefit of Rs 2 lac on the EMI paid on home-loans. Coming to the affordable housing sector, PM has already announced that women should own an affordable housing asset as a co-owner or solo property owner. Under poverty alleviation scheme in west Bengal, women’s names are included in land titles of the government allocated plots to the economically weaker section of the state.
It’s expected that India is going in the right way to allure investors from the both domestic and international sides. After the complete implementation of the Real Estate (Regulation and Development) Act, 2016 (RERA) buyers will get legal protection for intellectual property rights. Praising the move, West Bengal RERA expert Mr. Mahesh Somani said, “More people will be coming forward with realty investment soon after complete RERA implementation. As real estate sale holds a prime contribution in Indian GDP, the country is offering maximum benefits to the investors. RERA will be supporting homebuyers with a strong and transparent legal system.”

Benefits of Buying Property in Woman’s Name
Women empowerment is underway. Bridging the gender income gap, gender equality is a full-force movement. In recent times, buying property in a woman’s name is undoubtedly an act of empowerment. To establish their rights as equals in society, the government of India, a few states, and some banks have joined hands in this endeavor. Though benefits vary from state to state or bank to bank, buying property in a woman’s name has become quite advantageous. Women enjoy additional stamp duty discounts or home loan benefits from banks or tax benefits in some states.
In India, many of us are still unaware of property rights for women. Personal laws mainly control property rights for women. According to the Hindu Succession Act of 1956, women’s property rights in all four faiths, including Hindus, Sikhs, Buddhists, and Jains, are fragmented. Later, the Supreme Court amended the Hindu Succession Act of 1956 to provide equal rights to daughters. Amended law treats all children equally.
Let’s look at the benefits:
Home loan benefits If you are planning to buy a property and want to get a home loan, then seek a home loan in the name of your wife. For women borrowers, banks provide a lesser rate of interest. Rates of interest vary from bank to bank, but discounts are around 1 % additionally for a woman owner. If the wife is working, interest on a home loan can be approximately 8.55, whereas, for her male counterpart, it is 8.60%. For those wishing to apply for a home loan, register the property in their wife’s name. If the wife is co-applicant, one can redeem the benefit of lesser interest rates on home loans.
Tax benefit on a home loan One can enjoy tax benefits if the property is in a woman’s name. If the property is self-occupied, then an additional deduction of interest summing up to an amount of 1.5 lakh every year will be offered. If the property is jointly owned, then-husband and wife both can claim tax deductions separately.
Stamp Duty benefits In many states, lower stamp duty has been set for women property owners. However, the exact percentage may vary from state to state. For instance, in Delhi, 7 % stamp duty is imposed for men property owners, whereas 5 % is for women property owners. In Jharkhand, for men, it is set at 7% whereas for women only Re1. In Punjab, it is 6 % for men, and for women, it is 4%.
Few more nuances to keep in mind If the woman of the house has no fixed income, she may not get a home loan. If both husband and wife combine their income to buy the property, then the rental income earned on the property will be taxed separately. If a dispute arises in the future, the husband is equally accountable even if the property is named under his wife.
Last words
If you are looking to invest in residential property in Ravet, then register the property in the name of a woman to get the tax benefits, home loan, and stamp duty reduction. Whether she is married or single, ownership in her name creates plenty of financial benefits. If she is earning, she can claim the benefits; if not, she can also claim the benefits at the time of purchase.

MAIN MAHARANI HU: our medicos at work
“Real heroes do not wear capes. They wear scrubs and stethoscopes, work in hospitals and are called doctors and nurses.”
The pandemic has stressed everyone’s life since the time it has hit the world. It has brought about a plethora of changes from the way how people lead their lives. Apart from bringing about changes in terms of social distancing and societal norms, the heroic role played by the women health workers proved to be a polestar during times of pandemic. When the entire world was asked to shut themselves behind closed doors, these health workers risked their lives by stepping out of their comfort and safety zone to save the world. They challenged the deadly virus every single day by playing the role of guardian angels.
Being a female medico was even more challenging as they had double responsibilities to fulfill. With double responsibilities came double the workload. They slogged themselves overtime in the hospitals and came back home to household chores. The major issues which the female doctors and nurses faced were long working hours and they showed immense sense of duty by making inexplicable contribution for the medical assistance of patients. Their days started early and went on until late in the evening.
Apart from taking care of patients as part of their duty, the female health workers also went beyond their responsibilities and took care of new born babies whose mothers were Covid-19 infected. They also faced clinical casteism in some of the neighborhoods. This affected their social relations to a great extent. Their self-esteem was hard hit as well yet they did not shy away from their call of duty. All they demanded was some dignity and acceptance as they felt it was hampered and that too while keeping their lives at stake with little protection and no acknowledgement whatsoever of their heroic role as warriors.
The medicos were in constant fear of endangering the lives of their loved ones by spreading the disease to them. They were the benevolent lot who cared for their patients’ lives more than their own. It is high time that the importance of women empowerment be glorified and the contribution of these Maharanis needs to be valorized and acknowledged. Female medicos have emerged as leaders during this Covid-19 pandemic which has brought forth a new meaning to the concept of gender equality.
In this auspicious month of Durga Puja, when the Goddesses is worshipped and her strength, vigor and courage celebrated; we at Maharani Chai pay tribute to all the female health workers for their unputdownable efforts towards their patients and their immense contribution to the medical field as frontline workers. We believe in making them believe that all these females are Maharanis in their own way.

Skylane Aviation Academy wishes all the lovely women a very happy women's day. This international women’s day, let's take a pledge to empower women in a more meaningful way. Our little acts of empowerment would go a long in creating an equitable society. Skylane, led by a woman, feels proud to train young girls to become air-hostesses in leading airlines across the globe. We would continue to train more and more girls so that they can become independent and lead the life they always wanted to. #womensday #women #woman #womensday2019 #flight #airhostess #flightsteward #cabincrewlife #cabincrew #cabinattendant #crewlove #cabincrewgirls #cathaypacific #airindia #vistara #jetairways #indigo6e (at Ranchi, Jharkhand) https://www.instagram.com/p/BuvNLCWHopD/?utm_source=ig_tumblr_share&igshid=efoqki1h0pzp
