Shabbat is my favorite part of the week. 🥰 It's my "quiet place" We all disconnect from our devices and spend the day enjoying each other as a family while learning Judaism.

Since January of this year, I’ve been developing and letting my repressed self finally come back alive. I have no longer conformed to make people happy, like me, or love me. I’ve grown so much and have felt better being me and that keeps slowly coming out as I let it. When you’ve repressed yourself for yours to make others happy and feel comfortable with you, it’s an endless cycle of not feeling right everyday and a unique sadness. I remember being a child and not being afraid of who I am regardless of how I was treated. A lot of repressed stuff has come up since the beginning of the year too. Please no one ask me about it. This is hard enough opening up this much in this blog. I do often worry how my friends, and relationships of all kinds will be affected, but I just remind myself, don’t let that be another reason to be who you have been since childhood. I allowed myself to be kept under wraps and it’s honestly made me feel pretty angry. I don’t feel slowed down through. I see everything as a new road to who I am. . . . . #domesticviolenceawareness #mentalhealthawareness #nonbinarysupport #nonbinaryproblems #nonbinary #singleparent #queerparent #nonbinaryfemme #nonbinaryyouth #enby #nonbinarykids #transmasculine #heteronormative #transmasc #genderqueer #thirdgender #thirdgendercommunity #paganparent #jewishmom #gay #boi #selflove #happiness #ilovemypartner (at Santa Clara, California) https://www.instagram.com/p/CDWTKD6AHTx/?igshid=1pz08eey6gubo

You all know how much I love sharing holidays, particularly the lesser known ones, and this Friday night we in the Jewish community will celebrate a particularly special one. Shavuot, which literally translates as "weeks", is one of the Three Pilgrimage Festivals mentioned in the Torah, along with Pesach (Passover) and Sukkot, which celebrate both agricultural and historical events. In the case of Shavuot, this event is deeply meaningful: the Jewish people receiving the Torah, the very foundation of our belief system, on Mount Sinai. For learning about the Jewish holidays, I love Allison Ofanansky's non-fiction picture books, with photos by Eliyahu Alpern. In this case, "Cheesecake For Shavuot" (2013) follows a class of Israeli children as they work in their school garden and kitchen to prepare for the holiday, including making some traditional dairy treats! A great intro to the holiday for any kid! Note: special thanks to the amazing @ashspeedteaches for the pictures! Check out her page for more information on the holiday. ♥️ 🥛 🥛 🥛 #NoodlenutsKidsBooks #CheesecakeForShavuot #AllisonOfanansky #EliyahuAlpern #MillbrookPress #PJLibrary #Shavuot #Shavuos #CountingTheOmer #JewishKids #JewishFamily #JewishMom #JewishBooks #JewishNoodlenuts #JewishHoliday #Blintzes #cheeseblintzes #HolidayBooks #LearningEveryDay #MulticulturalLearning #multicultural (at Mt Sinai) https://www.instagram.com/p/CAqgoxjHw_j/?igshid=154fuwmknulnd

Flashback to those first days of parenthood, the ones that challenged us with a critically ill child. I remember the NICU at Columbia Presbyterian Hospital, I don't want to go back. Must keep my CHD child safe from CoVid-19. My Mother's Day, Jewish style. Celebrating Motherhood Proud Jewish Style. With Mother's Day approaching very soon, let's take a moment to celebrate mothers. Some years my mother let me know few weeks before Mother's Day not to get her anything. She is saying, "Mother's Day is not a Jewish holiday, right? Don't bother over it or me." And of course, what do I do? Ignore her comments :). Even that, she may have a point because, according to Tora, every day is supposed to be Mother's Day and to honor and revere our mothers at all times. So I'm approaching Mother's Day with the same approach as a Jewish holiday. I Show her my utmost appreciation and love, buying the most amazing card and flowers, take her out for a fun day or dinner because in every Jewish holiday we eat :). but I always make sure my mother continuously experience such feelings throughout the year, and it's not just a once-a-year occasion. This is Mother's Day, Jewish style . . . . . . . #jewish #israel #judaism #kosher #jewishlife #jew #jerusalem #shabbat #jews #torah #superjew #mothersdaygift #jewishmother #jewishfood #judaica #hebrew #israeli #love #shalom #jewishholidays #kosherfood #jewishmom #jewishcommunity #jewishculture #jewishwomen #jewishgirl #jewishart #jewishstyle (at Texas) https://www.instagram.com/p/COqam3mNovI/?igshid=i7k81frqkvpy

“Because you are free with your heart to love all around you, even to strangers in the subway, you make my heart grow every day. Happy Mother's Day”
Sweet, huh? That’s our LL!
Meanwhile, when MY mother saw this, she said, “What is she doing riding the subway? Isn’t that dangerous for her? Doesn’t she have a car service? Or at least a bodyguard?”

Today in Khamishi (Thursday) class we are going to use the new Hebrew notebook to write the word Bowling in Hebrew.
The word Bowling was on this week's 2 in 1 Shlishi (Tuesday) as a word pronounced almost identical in English and in Hebrew.
Today you can learn how to say it perfectly in Hebrew, and how to write it in both Print and Cursive Script in Hebrew.
The Hebrew notebook is available worldwide with local shipping to 9 countries and regions. Click the link in the bio to order yours locally.
Let's start writing! ❤

Looking for that one perfect Chanukah picture book that will cover all your holiday bases? Look no further than Jacqueline Jules's "Light the Menorah!: A Hanukkah Handbook" (2018). Illustrated by Kristina Swarner with artwork that is both gorgeous and inclusive (I was thrilled to see a family member using a wheelchair in one spread), this incredibly comprehensive Chanukah book covers everything from the story of the Maccabees to lovely suggestions of themes to reflect upon and discuss each night as the candles are lit. From Chanukah songs to food traditions, you can find it all here. Appealing to young kids but also, as noted in the Jewish Book Council review, "A wonderful resource for families to use together." ⚫ ⚫ ⚫ #noodlenutskidsbooks #jewishnoodlenuts #noodlenutschanukah #lightthemenorah #lightthemenorah🕎 #jacquelinejules #kristinaswarner #menorah #hanukkiah #lighttheworld #lightthecandles #holidaysforkids #holiday #holidaytraditions #teachersofinstagram #chanukkah #chanuka #jewishmom #jewishfamilies #jewishkidsbooks #jewishbooks #jewish #homeschool https://www.instagram.com/p/B6OMlg4nmN_/?igshid=15w8ov3bbkjai
