Vol.2 of mashing all my bbgs into one post

After a “long” while of my last post I decided to finally get around to putting peoples requests and recommendations of their fav priests into the format. Keep in mind I don’t know who most of these characters are and I mainly put them in here because they were requested and matched up to the descriptions. Id be lying if I said it wasn’t impossible to squeeze them all into one thing. Thank you all for showing off your deranged priest bbgs!

Does Jacob Seed believe in God?

It’s a popular theory that, even though the oldest Seed brother is part of the Project at Eden’s Gate, he only has faith in his own ideology and doesn’t necessarily believe in God or the Voice. So is Jacob one of Joseph’s Heralds simply because he wants to support his brother and use his influence to his advantage, or does he actually believe in a higher power and in the Father’s message?

The first time we come (very) close to Jacob, during the mission “The World is Weak”, he explains why he thinks humanity has “forgotten what it is to be strong”. He says that “our heroes used to be gods” but that they are now, among other flaws, “godless”. If Jacob associates godlessness, so the lack of faith in God, with weakness, one of the things he criticizes the most, it implies to me that he thinks believing in God is a quality, so he most likely does too.

The next time the Deputy is captured by Jacob’s soldiers, he stays in the background to let Joseph talk to them and explain how he lost his wife and daughter. The Father tells this story in the Whitetail Mountains for a reason: it’s about pain, sacrifice, being tested, and doing whatever we’re asked to prove our devotion. Although Jacob doesn’t say anything to the Junior Deputy in that scene, the pained expression on his face proves that Joseph’s speech affects and resonates with him, and we only fully understand why the next time we meet him.

The third time the Deputy gets captured and ends up in one of Jacob’s cages, he too has a story to tell. While he casually shows how submissive and “well-trained” Pratt has now become, he talks about his experience in the military and more specifically during the First Gulf War. He explains how he and another soldier, Miller, got separated from their unit without food, water, or radio, and had to survive in the desert. When he realized, after eight days, that they were most likely going to die, he accepted his fate. “And in that acceptance came clarity”, he explains, and before he says the last two words, Jacob pauses and looks at the sky. In my opinion, this may indicate he believes this epiphany was of a divine nature.

When he continues his story, he says sacrificing Miller so he could survive “wasn’t something [he] wanted” but “something that [he] had to do” before concluding that it was “[his] test” and looking at the sky once more. Again, to me, this suggests he believes that this “test”, this sacrifice he didn’t want to make but thought had to happen, was a divine trial, a “test of faith”, exactly like Joseph killing his own daughter. And in order to join his army, people are expected to do the same: they must sacrifice something (or someone) that’s holding them back. To Jacob, it appears a sacrifice is not just about the “weak vs. strong” ideology and culling the herd, it’s also how you prove your devotion, your commitment to the Project, to the Father and, by extension, to God.

In his final moments, Jacob says what led many people to conclude he was possibly an atheist: “My brother saw all this coming. I don’t know if he talks to God... that doesn’t matter. He was right.” I don’t think this means he doesn’t believe in a higher power, though. Many other characters in Far Cry 5, such as Jerome or Grace, clearly are religious but also think Joseph is a false prophet and that there’s no way the Voice he claims he heard is God’s. Here, Jacob doesn’t say it’s not true and that the Voice isn’t real; he simply admits that he doesn’t know if Joseph can communicate with God.

So, in my opinion, it’s very likely that Jacob believes in a higher power and that part of what he does to people has a religious significance. That said, as he takes his last breath, whether or not the Voice Joseph hears belongs to God doesn’t matter much to the Soldier anymore. What does, and what he seems to be certain of, is that he was right to believe in his brother.

Pastor Jerome Jefferies features prominently in the Holland Valley storyline. If you take too long to liberate Fall End, he actually ends up doing it. He also saves your character from capture during "The Cleansing".

Aaron "Tweak" Kirby is a drug maker/dealer and features first in the quest "fast", he improves how effective the steroid drug things you're able to take.

I’ve always seen that live action trailer clip of the girl being drowned but I never actual saw the trailer so I’ve only just now found out that was Jerome’s daughter??? It’s never mentioned in the games at all so I assume it was a cut storyline but why cut something that was in a trailer? And why does the wiki not mention it at all? Like not even in the Trivia section? They seem to like cutting dead kid plot lines since Grace had one cut too

Far Cry El Industrial’s Reign AU Post #7

The Tumultites actually get along with Jerome and don’t mind him talking about his faith and God. This is very unlike how uncomfortable they are whenever Eden’s Gate preaches about Joseph, their faith, the Collapse and the Voice.

This is because the Tumultites don't consider Jerome and Eden's Gate' God to be the same God.

Jerome's God is forgiving, patient, benevolent and merciful. Which is unlike the God Father Adam Omar preached about. The God Adam Omar preached on and on about was a cruel, spiteful and willing to let them all suffer and burn in "the end" (which almost happened during the Tumultite massacre/genocide), and had been used as justification to put many, many of their people to death. Which is why the Tumultites are very much against Eden's Gate' God, or "the Voice".

Surface-level, the Project at Eden's Gate promotes community and purity of body and soul, but behind the scenes, their actions are off-putting to the Movement, considering the Peggies act aggressively and are likely to cause fights than the locals are. Even over something as little as a bad word or even a doubt or criticism about Joseph is more than enough to set them off. There was also the fact that beforehand, the Eden's Gate members weren't allowed to be angry, but the Seeds were (Isiah and Alexander managed to talk to Tracey about her time spent with the cult, and Gemini and Schrödinger witnessed it themselves during their espionages in Eden's Gate when the cult stopped gifting baskets of fruit one day and chose violence the next), which alarmed the likes of Silva who didn't expect the change (she thought they were harmless right until her people were getting threatened and bribery of money in exchange for their properties was attempted on them many times), causing her to make some counter-measurements just in case Eden's Gate decided to enact war. It brings reminders of Omar's Guard, which is not a comparison anyone wants to be compared to.

Jerome and his congregation (or what's left of it) however promote good faith in others, trust and respect. Even Silva attended his sermons, and while she doesn't believe that God truly exists (and will never truly form any kinship with the religion due to Omar's Guard' BS), she is respectful towards Jerome's faith in his God, and even comforted by the possibility that, if they were to exist, this God looks out for others and inspires a goodness, which is such a breath of fresh air for her, considering how Eden's Gate and Omar's Guard display their gods. Silva and Jerome may not be close and do have different believes, but there is a friendliness built on trust and respect there.

A lot of the Tumultites even attend Jerome's sermons, and if it's not because they believe in his god, it's definitely to show their interest and support in Jerome and his faith. (P.S There are some Tumultites who are just there to hear Jerome's voice lol).

Azriel doesn't attend any sermons and doesn't really interact with Jerome, nor does she really want to (she's not very popular amongst Fall's End, and by that I mean she's not really liked there).

Selling fundraiser candy bars in Hope County:

Joseph: Buys a box of his siblings favorites for each of them, gives the kid a pamphlet about church services to give to their parents

John: Seems disinterested at first, buys a few bars of dark chocolate with almonds and shuts the door without saying goodbye

Faith: gushes over how adorable the kid is, buys a box for her priestesses and a box for herself (bliss munchies)

Jacob: buys the whole stock, adds them to long-term storage for post collapse morale boosters/trade material

Sharky and Hurk: combine what money they haven't spent on booze and fireworks, buy a few bars, make s'mores immediately, fight over who gets the last one

Jess: buys a bar and in the time it took to do that, the kids learned about 40 new cuss words

Grace: tries to make a little joke, but she's bad at that so now the kids crying and she pity buys a whole box

Adelaide: hits on the kids dad, doesn't buy anything, Xander will ask about the ingredients, GMOs, organic whatever, and also not buy anything

Hurk Sr: yells at the kid about trespassing

Pastor Jerome: buys a box to distribute when someone comes to him with some sort of traumatic shock or injury, uses them as a morale booster/glucose booster

Mary May: buys a candy she likes, offers the kid to set up a booth at the Testy Festy to sell more

could you do the hope county folks (whoever you want!) with a gn reader (friends/acquaintances to lovers) who’s really affectionate caring and protective with them but cold distant and indifferent to other people?

This sat in the drafts for a while, I could only manage four before it felt repetitive, but I hope you like them nonetheless!

Sharky is over the moon the first time he notices it, he's never really been super special to anyone before so seeing the distinct way you treat him compared to others makes him all giddy.

At first he's bragging about being your best bud, saying he gets best bud privileges like all your smiles, hugs and fussing over his well being.

He feels like he's won the lottery and he's gonna rub it in everyone's faces for as long as possible.

He may do stupider stunts in front of you because he enjoys it when you dote on him.

He never finds it off-putting when you're being sweet to him one second and cold to others in the next, he thinks of it like a cool superpower.

Over time he starts getting really comfortable with you, he loves spending time with you and joking around with you and all the affection you direct at him always leaves him with a goofy smile.

He figures out he might have more than friends feelings for you after some point.

Of course he doesn't know how to tell you and he figures he can get away with just being your best bud forever, you already treated him special as it was.

But then he starts to notice other people trying to get your attention and he starts wondering about what would happen if he wasn't your sole best bud who you treated so nicely.

And it scared him enough to confess—in his Sharky Boshaw certified way. aka half of a field ended up on fire with your name scorched into the ground and Sharky looking at you with the biggest puppy dog eyes ever.

Of course you didn't leave him hanging and Sharky ends up with double bragging rights of being your boyfriend.

Mary May is flattered by it, confused but flattered.

She figured it was because the company at the bar wasn't your cup of tea but after spending time with you outside of the bar she catches on to it being something a bit more.

She doesn't question it, since she doesn't really know how.

It doesn't really bother her, after a while she barely notices your cold attitude towards others since she's just happy to see you.

If anyone asks she just laughs and says she's just the best company around and you liked her best.

She teases you about it a few times but ultimately doesn't make a huge deal about it.

She enjoys spending time with you and having someone be so caring and protective of her for the first time in a while means a lot to her.

She slowly starts giving back the same amount of care and protectiveness, to the point where if people call you cold she'll go to bat for you about it.

She knows how warm and caring you are and she's not listening to any disrespect.

This leads her down a rabbit hole of slowly falling for you, all your alone time and special attention slowly bubbles into something she can't ignore.

So she sets up a cute little date for the both of you and asks you out, ready to accept either answer but being over the moon when you say yes.

After that people know not to whine about your indifference to them in front of her, because she will ban them from the bar and tell them they just need to work on their personalities.

Jerome is a people person, a proud man of community, so admittedly he is utterly bafflee by how little you care for everyone other than seemingly himself.

At first he's perhaps even put off by it, caught in the considerations of what it could mean without taking it at face value.

He's a grown man so he asks you about it eventually and after your simple and casual explanation he comes to accept it.

He's not one to tell others how to feel after all and despite your coldness to others it wasn't as if you were cruel to them, you weren't hurting anyone and he enjoyed your company.

And if he was honest after the beating the years had done to his pride, being so important to someone was almost needed.

Having your sole attention in a crowd of others was nothing like he'd experienced, even during his sermons, and he began to seek it out.

He enjoyed spending time with you alone, talking for hours about your interests and slipping into some debates here and there.

He felt challenged, appreciated and engaged whenever he was with you and it didn't take long to figure out he had feelings for you.

Figuring out how to go forward was a struggle for him, he hadn't considered being in a relationship for a long time but you sparked the want in him again.

After months of dancing around his feelings and trying to search for answers in prayers he invites you over for dinner to gauge your own feelings.

When it's out in the open you both feel the same the only thing left to do is accept it; so he laughs at how stupid he was being and asks you if he can take you on a proper dinner date.

He never truly understands your cold attitude towards people but he easily balances it out with his warmth and other people soon see you as a pair that cannot and should not be separated.

Faith seeing you be cold and indifferent to others the first time was like a dopamine hit, the cogs in her brain turned as a delighted smile spread across her face.

Realising all your affection, sweet smiles and joking words were solely reserved for her, made something in her do backflips.

She was hooked.

In a way she was somewhat similar, her sweetness to others was part of her darling act after all.

And perhaps it was an act towards you at first as well, but after seeing you go from apathetic to beaming upon seeing her she quickly changed her tune.

She reserved the genuine side of her just for you, the good and the bad.

She confided in you, trusted you like no one else and in turn you did the same.

She felt seen again, you made her feel real and like someone worth admiring.

Of course, as all addictions go she became antsy when she couldn't be with you, couldn't have your warmth showering over her.

She realised over the course of your friendship that she couldn't stand the thought of that warmth being directed at someone else.

Of losing you and having your smiles and secret whispers lost to someone who didn't deserve you.

So she confessed her feelings, promised to make every day more blissful then the next if only you stayed with her.

And you never had any intentions of leaving so of course you say yes.

And thus the project members hail you as their angel's brooding lover and protector, someone to be respected and equally admired despite your indifference to them.
