Been re-reading these books and so here is a little book-canon (well, mostly) fancast for the SWORD OF TRUTH.

Legend of The Seeker: Bloodline  [S01E16]

Om det var någon som undrade så får vi veta i det här avsnittet vad Denna pysslat med sedan E08. Och som det visar sig har Darken Rahl personligen haft haft om hennes omträning. Och det är en av de sakerna som jag gillar med Darken Rahl i den här serien: han är inte rädd för att få skit under naglarna. Och Craig Parker gör en väldigt bra roll med en Darken Rahl som utåt sett inte visar på någon extas över blod som rinner.

Under tiden i Lag Sökaren briserar Zedds stora hemlighet: han är pappa åt Richards mamma, och inte nog med det -- Kahlan visste om det. Kahlan har suttit i en jäkla sits i det här fallet, trots det så tycker jag att hon gjort rätt. Som bekännare omges hon ju av ett vist behov av sekretess. Även om det här gick stick i stäv kanske mot hennes lojalitet för Richard.

Jag vill dock minnas att det som överraskade mig var att Richard faktiskt satte ihop boxarna och kallade fram krafter som kanske aldrig avsetts för att hanteras av en vanlig dödlig. Craig Horner gör faktiskt ett bra jobb med att låta Richard gå från entusiastisk pojkaktig charm till en dödligt kall tyrann. (Även om givetvis en stor del i intrigen består i Richards fortsatta förmågan att ta svåra beslut och alltid skall hitta en mellanväg).

Jennsen är väl en trevlig karaktär, men det märks att det inte är en karaktär avsedd för stordåd. Jag är säker på att Brooke Williams gör sitt bästa -- men karaktären blir helt enkelt inte särskilt intressant. (Dock skall det sägas att jag blev lurad av henne när Denna försöker manipulera Jennsen att vända sig mot sin mor).

Det är lite synd egentligen att vi aldrig fick lära känna Taralynn bättre, jag har alltid (och kommer nog alltid) ha en viss aversion mot att karaktärer introduceras med buller och bång bara för att lämna oss i förtid. (På samma sätt hur döda karaktärer skrivs tillbaka in i storyn bara för att sedan lika snabbt försvinna igen).

Ett helt okej avsnitt vars viktigaste beståndsdel kanske var att visa hur kraftfulla ordensboxarna är och hur farligt fort dess makt korrumperar.

Marvel Verse: Into every generation, a pristinely ungifted child was born. However, from early on magic wielders - both light and dark - and eventually mutants saw them as weapons that could be used against them, and they never survived past childhood. Which was why Jennsen’s mother, Tarralyn - having realized what she was early on - kept her ability or lack thereof a secret. Even from her. And so she grew up in a small cottage on a farm, being schooled at home, and spending more time in the company of animals than people.

She always attributed the fact that her mother was so overprotective to the fact that her brother died as a baby three years prior to her own birth. But one day, on a rare occasion when she went into town, she got caught up in the middle of a battle of mutants and magic and it was as if every spell and every ability bounced off of her. She returned home only to find out the truth: that she was pristinely ungifted.

She and her mother fled, but the latter was struck down in an attempt to get to Jennsen. Now she’s on her own, in a world she knows very little about navigating, unsure of where to go or who to trust - who wants to kill her, or use her, or would be willing to protect her. So her focus is on survival and survival alone as she tries to learn more about what it truly means to be pristinely ungifted.

Note: Unless otherwise plotted, she believes Richard is dead, she has no knowledge of Darken or Zedd, and there are no prophecies about either brother.
