Horrors AU - Briar Profile
Name: Briar Gillespie
Alias: Briar the Batter
Faction: Wild Horrors/Jeff's pack
Age: 25(ish)
Height: 5'2
Physical Description: A fair-skinned young woman with black hair and gray eyes. Her hair is long, well past her shoulders, and normally in a high ponytail. Her face and body are covered in freckles. She carries many scars from her youth, nicks and cuts from falls and scrapes, and some from handling animals as an adult. From the neck down she is hairless.
Personality: Compassionate but pragmatic - takes no pleasure from violence but is ruthless when on the hunt or angered - keeps secrets, and not just her own - her will to survive overpowers almost all other desires and she will do anything to stay alive - deceptive and easily fools both humans and Horrors into thinking she's a mere human. She is not.
Backstory: At five years old, her country fell into anarchy and bloodshed as the First Wave hit. For the next fifteen years, life was a story of survival, from being seperated from her family and taken to a brutal Horror hunter training Camp, being abandoned and having to journey through the wastelands with a stranger to find civilization, reuniting with her family only to be emotionally neglected by them, and eventually leaving everything behind to become a veterinarian technician in another settlement. At 25, life seemed settled and comfortable. Then she encountered the Horror Jeff the Killer, and everything spiraled down. Briar was born as a Horror, the first in years, and Jeff took her as his apprentice.
Skills: basic apocalypse survival skills (first aid, wilderness and urban foraging, close combat, maneuvering, etc); home farming and gardening; veterinary technician occupational skills, including animal grooming and handling, horse riding, and similar; domestic skills including hand sewing, clothes making, some weaving, and more; home repair and maintenance; emotional and psychological disguise and manipulation
Weapons: her trademark and namesake is the metal baseball bat that got her through her youth, but she knows how to use bladed weapons thanks to Jeff, and has some old experience with guns through her Camp training
Other Traits: Unlucky - anything that can go wrong, will
Motifs: roses, cats, rabbits, the colors purple and yellow
Allies: Jeff Woods, Eyeless Jack, Laughing Jack, BEN, Fury the Wolfcat
Enemies: all proxies, all government agents, she has no particular rival as of writing
Theme Songs: Lightning Field by Sneaker Pimps - Where the Watermelons Rot by Madelynne Whitt - Catch the Midnight Girl by Stendeck

Choose Your Three Free Comics!
At long, long last...Free Comic Book Day is here! Unlike the usual “first Saturday in May” celebration that has defined the even in normal years, due to issues with the ongoing pandemic the folks in charge have decided to move this year’s celebration back to August 14th. Want a sneak-peak at the books...?
The following titles will be available at Comix Connection on Aug 14th (while supplies last!). Everybody gets to pick three! Unlike previous years, we will NOT be accepting FOOD DONATIONS in exchange for additional comics. Instead we will be collecting monetary donations to give to the Central Pennsylvania Food Bank. For every DOLLAR donates, you may select an additional free comic book!
We know the line for the FCBD comics can get long (if you want to come in and shop first, you can skip the line and head straight inside!) so in an effort to both entertain you while you’re in that long line and to help it go a little faster by giving you a preview of the various titles so you can decide ahead of time what looks good, the Comix Connection Counter Monkeys have read and reviewed all of the available FCBD books! Take a peek!
CHOOSE YOUR FREE COMICS:

[All Ages]

Plus, an adventure of Amethyst, princess of the mystical realm of Gemworld by bestselling authors Shannon Hale and Dean Hale! [All Ages]

News Roundup
As the News & Observer and the Charlotte Observer report, dozens of people across North Carolina have been arrested this week by federal Immigrations and Customs Enforcement officers. In Sanford, 27 people were arrested in a raid of Bear Creek Arsenal, a firearms manufacturer. Lee County Sheriff Tracy Carter said that the investigation at Bear Creek was focused on identity theft and fraud. A few hours after the Sanford raid, undercover ICE agents arrested several people in a series of traffic stops in Charlotte. ICE spokespersons said that the incidents were not part of a coordinated effort. At the end of last year, ICE said that it planned to increase its presence in the Raleigh area in response to Wake Sheriff Gerald Baker’s decision to end the county’s cooperation with ICE detainer requests.
Warren Resigns. Judge Marrion R. Warren announced this week that he will resign as director of the N.C. Administrative Office of the Courts after serving in the North Carolina Judicial Branch for 26 years. Warren will become senior associate dean of Regent University School of Law, joining Chief Justice Mark Martin at the school. Martin appointed McKinley Wooten to serve as interim director of the AOC effective February 28.
Forsyth to End ICE Contract. The Winston-Salem Journal reports that Forsyth County Sheriff Bobby Kimbrough Jr. announced on Tuesday that his office will end a contract with ICE that permits the federal agency to detain suspected undocumented immigrants in the county jail. The contract is set to expire on April 30, at which point the jail will no longer accept people detained by ICE for civil violations of federal immigration law.
Cold Case Break. The News & Observer reports that an Orange County cold case has been solved after 20 years thanks to DNA evidence. In September of 1998, a boy’s remains were discovered near a billboard on Interstate 40 in Hillsborough. The boy’s identity was unknown until DNA evidence allowed Orange County Sheriff’s Office Investigator Tim Horne, with the help of others, to determine that he was Robert “Bobby” Adam Whitt. Last week, Whitt’s father, who is serving a federal sentence or armed robbery, confessed to the killing.
Fentanyl Bust. Late last month U.S. Customs and Border Protection officials announced the agency’s biggest fentanyl seizure in history, finding 254 pounds of the drug in a secret compartment in a load of produce carried in a tractor-trailer bound for Arizona. The previous largest fentanyl seizure was in August of 2017 when 154 pounds were found in a New York city apartment linked to a Mexican drug cartel.
Buncombe Receives Settlement Payments. WLOS reports that Buncombe County has received nearly $1 million from Wanda Greene and Jon Creighton, payments that are part of a civil settlement arising from the former county officials’ corrupt actions while in office. Greene paid the county $750,000 and Creighton paid $189,000. The county still is pursuing a civil suit against former county manager Mandy Stone and former county contractor Joseph Wiseman.
Actor Targeted in Hate Attack. The Associated Press reports that Jussie Smollett, an actor in the television show “Empire,” was the target of an apparent hate crime last week when he was attacked in downtown Chicago by two masked men who punched him while shouting racial and homophobic insults. The attackers also threw an unknown liquid onto Smollett and put a rope around his neck. No suspects had been apprehended at the time of writing. Smollett has been helping raise funds for Bennett College in Greensboro, one of only two all-women HBCUs in the country, as the school tries to maintain its accreditation in the face of financial difficulties.
Murderer Turned Attorney. The New York Times has an interesting story this week of a man who pleaded guilty to murder, spent two decades in prison, and earned a law degree from Tulane after being paroled. Though he has not passed the bar because it is unlikely that he could pass the character and fitness portion of the process, Bruce Reilly now works as the deputy director of a New Orleans organization that advocates for formerly incarcerated individuals.
Jeff Talks About the Blog. Earlier this week Jeff was interviewed on a WCHL 97.9 radio segment entitled “Focus Carolina,” a program that explores the work of UNC faculty members. Jeff talks about the early days of this blog – back when reaching 50 readers a day was a milestone. He also discusses the development of the North Carolina Prosecutors’ Resource Online (NC PRO), which you really should check out if you haven’t already. In the interview Jeff says that, contrary to his expectations, the transition from private attorney to university professor hasn’t involved him wearing tweed jackets. We’ve got a team fact checking that claim.

CRAWFORD | Five thoughts on the firing of Bobby Petrino
Five thoughts on the firing of University of Louisville football coach Bobby Petrino:
1). THERE'S A NEW GODFATHER IN LOUISVILLE. Consider Vince Tyra’s Sunday. He woke up, put on a “Louisville football” hooded sweatshirt and a pair of sweatpants. He met with Petrino after the coach taped his weekly TV coaches’ show, and fired him and his son and two sons-in-law, plus his executive assistant.
He then met with U of L’s football players and the remaining coaches. He named Lorenzo Ward as the interim coach. He then watched Louisville win the ACC soccer championship on television. From there, a few minutes late, he rolled into to the Yum! Center basketball practice facility (not, as you might think, in a Brinks truck) and held his news conference.
Later in the afternoon, he was scheduled to have dinner with the team.
Hat tip to Yahoo! Sports' Pat Forde, who noted a quote from Don Corleone that came to his mind: “Today, I settled all family business.”
Any questions?
2). THE MONEY? DON'T WORRY ABOUT THE MONEY. Tyra says he expects U of L to pay Petrino the full amount of his buyout, or approximately $14 million. How in the world will Louisville afford this?
Tyra noted several resources. He said he set aside contingency funds for a rainy day in the current athletic budget. He didn’t expect that it would be spent on Petrino’s buyout, but said it would account for about $2 million of the approximately $4.66 annual total in the first year.
Beyond that, Tyra said Louisville would further draw down some reserve funds, the largest fund being the Hickman-Camp Fund, which now stands at around $8 million after a $4.5 million withdrawal to pay the Xavier buyout for Chris Mack and $4 million to settle with former athletic director Tom Jurich already this year.
Tyra also alluded to other sources of revenue that could come online in the future. One of those is a naming rights deal for Cardinal Stadium, whenever it happens. One source many people don’t mention when talking about U of L’s liabilities is increased revenue from the ACC Network, to go online next season in a partnership with ESPN. While estimates of revenue haven’t been released for ACC schools, an increase of $6-8 million per year per school wouldn’t be outlandish.
Moreover, a new adidas deal (negotiated by former athletic director Tom Jurich) worth $130 million over 10 years is kicking in with a $5 million payment early in 2019.
Regardless, Tyra said it was less about the money than making the right call.
“I know that you’re going to quickly jump to the financials,” Tyra said. “But in my life, there’s been plenty of financial decisions that I’ve made, but you’ve got to make the right decision. And I think that today we’ve made the right decision on behalf of the program. . . . Dollar signs or not, it was time to make a decision.”
3). TYRA HOPES TO SEE IMMEDIATE CHANGE IN THE TEAM. In his meeting with the players, Tyra said that he hoped that they would take advantage of this dramatic change to re-write the ending of their season.
“I met with the players, we met in the auditorium,” he said. “I was clear about the decisions that were made, why they were made, and my expectations of coaches, what Louisville football means to the community, my expectations of them as players, and my concerns … around effort, cohesiveness, communication, etc.”
Tyra said he thought the meeting went well, that players greeted him, some with hugs, and that he planned to have dinner with the team on Sunday night to talk to players further. He also said that he met with the remaining coaches.
“My expectations (are) on a turnaround immediately with this team, with this talented team,” Tyra said. “They need to get focused immediately on North Carolina State this week. We’ve provided the pathway for the student athletes to have a great week, work their butt off but have a great time. There’s two weeks to do that to really make a name for themselves. It doesn’t have to end on a bad note. We’re 2-8. We don’t have to be 2-10. It doesn’t have to end that way. Even though people are writing that script for us, they can change that story.”
4). WHO IS THE INTERIM COACH? Lorenzo “Whammy” Ward is a veteran defensive coach. He played defensive back at Alabama. He was defensive coordinator at Fresno State in 2016 and was at South Carolina before that. He also worked under Frank Beamer as secondary coach for seven seasons at Virginia Tech.
“I chose him because he has great respect from the players, of all positions,” Tyra said. “I felt like he was the one at this point who could step in and take over the administrative role as well as the leadership role.”
Tyra said he’s not sure why the effort from the football team has been lacking, but didn’t mince words in saying that it has.
“When you have 10 penalties and 4 turnovers in the first half, against a (Syracuse) team that we’ve handled pretty well . . . I don’t think our talent has slipped that far and theirs has slipped up that much," he said. “If you want to say culture equals effort, then something screwy was going on. Because the effort wasn’t what it has been historically. . . . The players can’t hide from that. It shows up on film."
5). THE JOB GOES THROUGH JEFF BROHM. Before anyone asks, I don’t know if the Purdue coach and former Louisville quarterback is coming. I hate that he has to go through the next two weeks with this hanging over his season at Purdue. But that’s what college football has become.
Should he be offered the job? Yes. In my opinion, which is what you get here, he’s as important a hire as Howard Schnellenberger was. Failing to land him would be like Schnellenberger’s alma mater, the University of Kentucky, being unable to land him. It could have decades of repercussions.
It was a remarkable moment when Tyra actually mentioned Brohm by name, because why beat around the bush about it? (Another extraordinary fact about Tyra’s news conference Sunday.)
When WAVE TV’s Kent Taylor asked Tyra if he’d be open to the new coach hiring members of his family here (knowing that Jeff’s brother Greg is director of football operations at Purdue and his brother Brian is a quarterbacks coach), Tyra responded, “Nice bait, Kent.”
Later, Tyra took the speculation head on.
“I know all the tie-ins that Jeff has with Louisville,” Tyra said. “I know all the tie-ins that he and I have with Trinity. I’ve heard it all. But still, that doesn’t mean he wants to be here. I just don’t think it’s worth speculating, until we get to the season and see who wants to be here. I have a great opportunity to sell a great program. But I want to be clear, this is not a hire out of convenience. This is one we need to have that really wants to be here and is going to win here.”
There are other candidates. Dino Babers at Syracuse. Joe Whitt Jr., currently the defensive passing game coordinator for the Green Bay Packers and a former Louisville assistant, has interest. University of Cincinnati coach Luke Fickell and Ryan Day, the offensive coordinator and quarterbacks coach at Ohio State, are among the early names receiving serious consideration.
But Brohm likely is the starting point. And if he has interest and Louisville can afford him, he might be where the discussion ends.

I swear, these people don’t make sense. Does anyone else notice it’s like they’re deathly afraid for me to be around children? If you are unable to make out the signatures at the bottom, I’ll gladly share the ones I know. Mike Whitt, Bill Rutherford, and Jeff Hood. The fourth name is unknown and certainly someone I’ve never met. Definitely not anyone with any right to be part of this pow-wow trying to dictate my life. How ridiculous is this? It’s basically “Cease, desist, and repent” They can claim they want to help all they want. All they’ve done is push me away. This is not how a church treats valued members when they’re worried about your well being. This is how the horsemen of hate go about rooting out “problems” People who question them and are a threat to their control. Their wording in one particular part forbids me from going to things like Sunrise services for Easter and Trunk R Treat for Halloween (my favorite holiday) I don’t know what they think I’m gonna do to those kids. Corrupt them? Molest them? I love those kids. I wouldn’t do anything to hurt them. They’re too young to need to know about bullshit in the church. It’s not like I’m going to push my religious beliefs on them. Not to mention the teachers (I wasn’t in the class. I helped teach it. The teachers are lovely people who don’t buy into this attack on my personal beliefs one bit) would do anything to protect those kids and would quickly shut me up if I contradict what they’re trying to teach. My very presence in a room is not even remotely a threat to those kids. This is what churches do when you don’t conform. These churches will claim that all are welcome, but that is a lie. You’re only welcome if you A. Believe what they believe to a tee or B. Sit down, keep your mouth shut, and never voice your beliefs I refuse to accommodate these bigot “Christians” I will not conform. I will not be quiet. There isn’t anything they can do about it. (Also, I just love how they’re telling me what I can and can’t post on social media, as if they have any right)

Joey Logano wins at yet another wreck-filled Talladega
Drivers race past Talladega fans during a NASCAR Talladega auto race at Talladega Superspeedway, Sunday, April 29, 2018, in Talladega, Ala. (AP Photo/Brynn Anderson)
TALLADEGA, Ala. — “We wrecked. What are you going to do? Typical Talladega.”
Outside the Talladega infield care center, Clint Bowyer was seething, and he wisely — for the sake of his wallet — opted for snippets and sound bites rather than angry monologues. Bowyer’s 14 had just been swept up in a wreck that also collected the first two stage winners, Brad Keselowski and Paul Menard with only a couple dozen laps remaining, and nobody who wrecked out was in a particularly good mood.
Back out on the track, Joey Logano snapped a year-long victory drought, holding off a furious charge by Kurt Busch, Kevin Harvick, and Ricky Stenhouse Jr. Logano led 70 laps, and looked in control throughout as he notched his 19th career victory with his third win at Talladega.
With a restrictor-plate beast like Keselowski — his five wins lead all drivers and rank third all-time at Talladega — out of the picture, that left the door open for Keselowski’s Penske teammate to roar through. Logano started stacking laps early on, and by the end of the race, he and spotter T.J. Majors were crafting a masterpiece.
The final laps of the race demonstrated that when Logano’s on, there’s nobody better in the sport. He held off a charging Harvick low, and then flat-out outran Kurt Busch to the finish. Busch couldn’t quite sync up with Stenhouse to make a run at Logano, and Chase Elliott slipped into third position as the checkered flag waved for yet another top finish without a victory.
As always, the secondary story at Talladega was the wreckage that thinned out the field. Midway through the second stage, Erik Jones set off a wreck that collected reigning champion Martin Truex Jr., Kyle Larson, and others:
(via Fox Sports)
In the race’s closing laps, Jimmie Johnson got loose and set off a wreck that took out Keselowski, Bowyer, Menard, William Byron, Austin Dillon, AJ Allmendinger and Michael McDowell:
(via Fox)
For a moment early in the Geico 500 at Talladega on Sunday, the 88 of Dale Earnhardt Jr. led the race, followed by the 24 of Jeff Gordon, the 43 of Richard Petty, and the 9 of Bill Elliott.
Only it wasn’t Earnhardt or Gordon or Petty in those cars, and the Elliott in the 9 wasn’t Bill. Alex Bowman, William Byron, Bubba Wallace and Chase Elliott are the names manning those iconic numbers now, and this year’s Talladega race — the first since Earnhardt retired — showcased the new-look NASCAR on its largest stage. But the youth movement couldn’t quite hold up to the veteran edge of Logano — himself a onetime youthful phenom — and for now, at least, the future remained in the future.
Full results, Geico 500 at Talladega:
1. Joey Logano 2. Kurt Busch 3. Chase Elliott 4. Kevin Harvick 5. Ricky Stenhouse Jr. 6. David Ragan 7. Aric Almirola 8. Alex Bowman 9. Ryan Newman 10. Daniel Suarez 11. Chris Buescher 12. Jimmie Johnson 13. Kyle Busch 14. Denny Hamlin 15. Ty Dillon 16. Darrell Wallace Jr. 17. Kasey Kahne 18. Ryan Blaney 19. Matt DiBenedetto 20. DJ Kennington 21. Cole Whitt 22. Brendan Gaughan 23. Timothy Peters 24. Gray Gaulding 25. Ross Chastain 26. Martin Truex Jr. 27. Joey Gase 28. Jamie McMurray 29. William Byron 30. Paul Menard 31. Clint Bowyer 32. Michael McDowell 33. Brad Keselowski 34. AJ Allmendinger 35. Austin Dillon 36. Timmy Hill 37. Reed Sorenson 38. Trevor Bayne 39. Erik Jones 40. Kyle Larson

Kenosha’s Finest AMCs Congregate in Detroit During 2017 Woodward Dream Cruise
Because of its Nash roots and assembly plant there, AMC will forever be associated with Kenosha, Wisconsin. But the company—formed in 1954 when Nash-Kelvinator merged with Hudson—was headquartered in Detroit.
AMC pride borders on the religious to some, and it’s Detroit where the faithful congregate every August, as the annual Woodward Dream Cruise is the mecca that draws the pilgrims. The American Motors Owners Association (AMO) leverages the cruise weekend to host a well-attended car show, while a more informal group dubbed Nashnutz crowds the suburb of Birmingham during the cruise.
Rich Corsello founded the Nashnutz club as a way to draw fellow AMC owners (as well as owners of Nash, Hudson, Jeep, and related brands) and enthusiasts together during the Dream Cruise. They have been getting together there for 13 years. Many members also belong to AMO, and between the two organizations there are more SC/Ramblers, AMXs, and Javelins in the Motor City than you can shake a stick at. (That’s sort of a pun because a javelin is a long spear, a stick, right?)
AMC owners live in the shadows of Hemis, Stage Is, Bosses, and big-blocks, a status that strengthens their infectious camaraderie, even if their ranks don’t quite match all of the Corvettes, Mustangs, and other mainstream muscle cars cruising Woodward. Simply put, these owners are about as down-to-earth as they come.
Yes, the Kenosha plant is long gone and the old AMC headquarters building in Detroit is literally a stripped-out, gutted shell awaiting the wrecking ball. But AMO and the Nashnutz keep alive the legacy of the Motor City’s underdog muscle car manufacturer.
This 1973 Javelin has a unique history. It carries serial number 0011 and was used by AMC’s marketing department to show off the new Maxi Blue exterior color in print ads and brochures. A year later it was resprayed Mellow Yellow to show off the 1974 color palette. It was returned to its original blue hue in 2006.
Bruce Hofsess’ red-on-red 1970 AMX features a 325hp 390 and a four-speed trans. The engine pumped out 10 hp more than the 390 in the 1968 and 1969 models. It was a swansong for the specialty two-seater AMX, however, which became a trim level in the Javelin line in 1971.
Ken Martin is the original owner of this rare, one-of-784 1971 SC-360. The 66,000-mile Hornet-based muscle car is motivated by a 285hp 360 engine, which is backed by an automatic transmission.
AMC built only 825 401-powered Javelin AMXs in 1972. Although the high-compression days were over, the engine cranked out a respectable 345 lb-ft of torque. This one is a factory A/C car owned by Brad Mathis.
Michael Levi has owned this 1970 Rebel Machine for 40 years. The 390/four-speed car wears the red, white, and blue paint scheme, identifying it as one of the first few hundred built. Levi’s was built in December 1969.
Jeff Bristow built this 1968 Javelin race car replica as a tribute to AMC’s inaugural year in the Trans-Am series and the team run by Ron Kaplan.
Another original-owner AMC at the AMO show was Lee Griffin’s 1969 Hurst SC/Rambler. It wears all of its original equipment, including the 315hp 390 engine and Borg-Warner T-10 close-ratio four-speed transmission.
The Matador replaced the Rebel in AMC’s lineup in 1971, and still offered customers respectable V-8 performance in an intermediate-size package. Al Hodgson’s restored example has a 210hp 304 under the hood.
We didn’t get Mitch’s last name, but his two-owner 1971 Javelin SST was memorable. It was the first production year with the blistered fenders, and the SST package offered the twin body-side stripes. This one has a 360 engine.
Only 2,320 of the 1974 Javelin AMXs were built with the 360 engine. This example is mildly warmed over with a Holley carb and headers. The 1974 model year was the final year for the Javelin, as new bumper regulations would have required extensive and expensive revisions.
The 1973 Hornet hatchback was a deceptive performer. With a shipping weight of only 3,031 pounds and the optional 360 V-8, it packed a surprising punch. Al Nemzek is the original owner of this unrestored example, which looks great with the period Appliance wheels.
For anyone harboring Adam 12 AMC replica fantasies, this 1973 Matador sedan fits the bill. It even has a TorqueFlite-backed 401 under the hood.
Jack Hillie dragged this A-paint-scheme SC/Rambler out of barn in 2013, where it had hibernated for 25 years. We even did a write-up on the Rare Find in our Dec. 2013 issue. The car was originally purchased by Jack Whitt, who drag-raced it at Lapeer Dragway, Detroit Dragway, and Tri-City Dragway, in Michigan. It went as quick as 13.20.
Bill and Janet Brodnicki’s gorgeous Golden Lime 1970 AMX has it all: 390 engine, T-10 four-speed, 3.91-geared Sure Grip rear axle, and more. The engine was breathed on, too, with a hotter cam and an Offenhauser intake.
Ronald Goodnaugh’s 1970 AMX wears an SCCA-inspired paint scheme, where the cars were originally classed in B/Production, along with the Shelby G.T. 350. The engine in Goodnaugh’s car is an automatic-backed 360.
Among the Nashnutz Woodward gathering, this ultrarare 1970 Trans-Am Javelin is one of 100 built. Randy Hensinger brought it to Detroit from Ohio, but it is his father’s car.
Roger Nelson’s Big Bad Blue 1970 Mark Donohue Javelin is one of the best, capturing the AMO Best in Show award five years ago.
Tom Guarr’s 1969 AMX is an authentic Hurst-prepped S/S factory drag model, one of only 52. Under the hood is a purpose-built, high-compression 390 with a pair of Holley four-barrels. It’s as rare as AMC muscle gets.
Waldo and Lisa Riesterer came, appropriately enough, from Wisconsin with their Bayshore Blue Rebel Machine.
J.C. Worley is the original owner of this black 1971 Javelin AMX, and he brought it all the way to Detroit from Texas to join the Nashnutz.
Mark Donohue was Jeff Filz’s (originally from Kenosha) hero, and owning one of his namesake Javelin models is the fulfillment of a longtime dream. The Big Bad Orange car is one of 2,501 produced.
Terry Weiner is the original owner of this Burnished Brown Metallic 1971 Javelin AMX, which he ordered in December 1970. Interestingly, the high-compression 360 two-barrel engine wears International Harvester red paint. AMC built engines for IH and apparently had a few leftovers that were put into some of its cars.
John Becker is another Nashnutz member who came up from Texas, showing his 1970 AMX with the $52 Shadow Mask option. The treatment blacked out the hood, and 982 of the 4,116 AMXs built that year featured it.
