It does definitely shows! Like even without any indication of him being the HoF, the aesthetic couldn't match the other Dragon Age games. I love these broody colors too, that a great description of them lol! What Vallaslin is he wearing btw? Is it Falon'Din's?

That makes a lot of sense, especially for Mahariel wardens who wouldn't have left the clan if it wasn't for the Taint! And tbh I think the Six of Swords energy is the perfect choice from what you're describing!

Death is a Major Arcana, so a life altering event, so I can see how it relates to Jeci's life-changing journey and needs to adapt and shed skin, especially moving on from what happened with Tamlen, but there is something more accurate about the crossroad he's at with the Six of Swords. It's like a refugee energy, leaving a place not out of choice but because you can't remain here for your own safety, and the pain and mental toll it takes to leave everything behind (it can be leaving an abusive relationship, a job that gave you financial stability, your toxic family...etc). Even in most versions of the RWS deck, this Arcana is designed in such way that you see a figure rowing a boat and two others, presumably a mother and child snuggling under a blanket. Duncan would definitely be the rowing guy driving Mahariel to safer waters. The Suite of Swords is harsh in that it is very straightforward, and forces to see through illusions and wishful thinking (like staying with the clan or finding Tamlen or being able to choose whether or not to become a Grey Warden). It doesn't leave room to choice or feelings, it litterally stabs your reality and shatters it and forces you to change your mindset/communication. In this case I'd even say to adapt ro a new communication/culture. I think that's a card that could've poped into a tarot reading offered to Mahariel haha (likely with the Tower, among others). Good intuition right there!

Thinking of all that, I appreciate this piece even more. Like there's blood on the skull, it might be a purely Aesthetic ™ choice (I'd be curious to hear the official explanation as to why you chose this detail if you don't mind sharing 👀)...I'd imagine his still "bleeding inside" emotionally as well, isn't he? That's still fresh. And I like how the arrow look lively and thrzatening but aren't actually planted in his skin. With that and his gaze he really looks like a badass who will do what's necessary but won't take shit from anyone lol He looks like he has a lot of inner strength!

(also I just noticed the scales on the armor and the padding part on the arms.....jfnfnfnt the level of details you put in... that's a lot of patience 😳)
