Prompt:
Dick Grayson has to juggle being in the spotlight again as Brucie Wayne’s son with his nightly vigilante activities. Easier said than done, when most days he has to struggle keeping his eyes open during the day.
But now? After Brucie’s most recent investing campaign that’s pissing a lot of people off? Yeah, Dick Grayson is once more in the top ten of most wanted on the both kidnappers’ and killers’ lists.
Thankfully there’s a new crime lord in town with a penchant for altruism.
And honestly, this is gonna benefit them both! Dick’s got the money to pay him and Hood’s got the manpower and brute strength to act as his bodyguard, not to mention the added benefit of helping the man turn Crime Alley into something… well, something with less crime! It’s a perfect plan!
Now Dick’s just gotta convince the Red Hood of that, too…
#Jason is torn between shooting dick and shooting himself#honestly wtF made the boy wonder think he’s interested in playing house with him?#goddammit#this is screwing up his plans already#Jason was scheduled for titans tower two hours ago#now he’s babysitting a tired vigilante#who still thinks hood is just an up and coming crime lord he can still turn to the good side or some shit#and now Jason also has to pretend like he’s got no idea that dick grayson is Nightwing#wait why is he doing this again???#bodyguard au#dick grayson#jason todd#batfamily#bruce wayne#batfam#robin#red hood#Nightwing#prompts#Dick Grayson and Jason Todd

Calling It: Good Intentions: Chapter 7: It’s a Terrible Plan
Sorry for the late update! Work got crazy and then I went through a bout of writer's block (so much fun >.<).
But, hopefully, that’s all done now! And as an apology for the longer than expected wait, I made the chapter longer than originally planned.
And now I will be on more a regular writing schedule.
Hopefully.
Anyways, Enjoy!
* * *
With the help of the Titans, Tim spent the week constructing a list of excuses for the Bats.
Tim’s favorites (at Con suggestion) is, “Why, no, Dick, Tim isn’t around ‘cause Ra’s is trying to sell him a timeshare at Nanda Parbat. I think he might take it; it’s a pretty good deal.”
Tim laughed so hard he knock over the stack of shipment logs he’d been going through. Tim didn’t want all of the Bats in a hundred-mile radius to come raining down on him (or to know how close to true that is) it had gone in the funny but no pile.
Drumming his thumbs on his desk, Tim watches BB through his monitor getting ready to call Dick to tell him the good news. With most of the Titans gathered around him, Tim had hacked into the main feed so that they could see the conversation between Gar and Dick unfold.
Picking up a sock, Bart crinkles his nose. “Dude, do you ever do your laundry?”
Tim arches an eyebrow at him. “You were there for my last annual pilgrimage to the laundromat.”
“That’s a horrifying sentence; from start to finish.”
Before Tim could respond, Gar’s voice crackles from the speakers. “Ready?”
Tim presses the intercom button. “Ready as we’ll ever be.”
“You sure you want to do this, Tim?” BB eyes sparkle through the computer.
Tim ignores the question.
They’d talked about this.
And Tim’s fine with it.
“Remember, we’ll be watching.”
Gar laughs. “Shyeah, ‘cause that won’t be creepy.”
Tim nods because, point, before pressing the intercom off.
Two rings later, Tim could hear Dick’s voice.
“Gar, how’s it hanging, bro?”
Tim pays no attention to the stab of jealousy threatening to overtake him at Dick’s friendly greeting.
Moving forward, remember?
Instead, he focused on what Dick was doing. It looked like Dick had been in the middle of looking through old case files.
Gar leans back in his chair. “Not bad, man. How are you doing?”
“Fine.” Dick shuffles some papers off the desk and into a folder with a vague smile.
Tim sucks on his teeth.
Tim knows that move.
Tim taught Dick that move.
What doesn’t Dick want BB to see?
“We’ve been working our way through some of Tim’s old files.”
Well, shit.
That could be anything.
Out of the corner of his eye, Tim sees Conner shooting him a concerned look.
Tim puts on his best Wayne Enterprises CEO blank face.
Conner rolls his eyes in an I know what shit you’re trying to pull. Knock it off asshole kinda way.
Tim grimaces.
Dick, however, keeps talking.
“But it’s hard. Most of the files on the Batcomputer are months old at this point. So, most of the info in it is outdated.” Dick sighs, ruffling his hair. It’s something Tim recognizes from his days of being Robin.
Something Dick only does when he’s frustrated with a case.
“Bab’s has been trying to trace his com unit, but she can’t find any. I don’t have to tell you how pissed off that makes her.”
Tilting his head, Tim squints at the screen.
There’s almost a look of…pride? on Dick’s face while Dick was saying that?
That couldn’t be right.
Babs couldn’t find the GPS on the com because Tim disconnected it over a year ago.
Why would Dick be proud of something Barbara’s failing at?
“But you don’t need to hear about that shit; why’d you call?”
“Well, funny story, it’s actually about Tim.” Dick’s body snaps to attention. Dick moves his chair so close to the computer’s camera, Tim couldn’t see the room anymore.
“Is he okay?” The urgency in Dick’s voice makes Tim’s stomach drop.
Okay, what the fuck is Dick doing? Outside of tech support, I hadn’t been important to the Bats for fucking years . What the actual fuck?
Tim feels a warm hand squeeze his shoulder. Glancing up, Tim sees Conner giving him the: we can call this off if you want look. Half smiling, Tim shakes his head.
“Tim’s fine,” BB assures Dick, eyes darting up towards Tim’s room. “At least, he was the last time I saw him. No, I’m calling because the team and I had a vote.”
Dick stares at Gar blankly before comprehension dawns across his face.
“Oh.”
“Yeah.”
“How’d that go?” Dick winces just like he always does right before he doesn’t dodge and gets hit in the face.
“Well, it was close but we did agree to give you occasional updates on Tim. On a trial basis, of course.”
Dick’s face looks like it was about to split into two from his smile.
Tim’s eyebrows narrow.
Okay, not the reaction Tim was expecting. Sure, he wasn’t sure what kind of reaction he was expecting (disgust, disappointment) but…not that.
“You can call and somebody will give you an update but,” Gar hesitates.
Shit. What went wrong?
Gar had said what the team had agreed to tell Dick.
Was he getting cold feet?
Shit.
It's a big ask, to fuck with friends like this.
Gar had agreed to do this though (even telling Tim in private he supported this plan one hundred percent).
Still though…
“But, Dick, it was a close vote. Not all of the Team is very happy about this…arrangement, man. Not all of them agree that this is the right thing to do. So, if someone doesn’t want to tell you anything, I wouldn’t push.”
Dick stares for a long moment, calculating, before nodding.
“Okay. I’ll try not to step on any toes.” Dick slowly nodding before smiling. “So, how’s Tim?”
Tim feels his brow furrow. The way Dick asked that question…what the fuck? It’s like Dick had been waiting years to ask it but had been too afraid.
Tim shakes his head.
Why would Dick care how he was doing?
Gar shrugs. “He’s fine. He and Bart went to get some comics. We didn’t want him to walk in while we were having this conversation.”
Dick looks like there were another hundred question he wanted to ask.
“So, is there anything new in his life I should know about?”
Gar takes a moment before answering. “Well,” he starts slowly, “we were attacked by H.I.V.E. the other week. Red Robin was capturing for a few hours before we got him back.”
“What?” Dick jumps up like he’s about to hop a plane to San Francisco. “Why didn’t you tell me?”
Gar raises an eyebrow. “Because it was before you called.” Dick flinches. “And besides, man, Red was fine. I haven’t heard him screaming ‘cause of the nightmares in a few days now.”
If Dick looked ready to hop a plane a minute ago, it was nothing compared to now. “He’s having nightmares? I’m on my way right now to—”
“To do what? Cuddle? Dude, he’s not going to let you into the Tower, let alone his room to cuddle. Don’t you know how to play it cool? That’s how I got Rae, man.”
Tim glances over to Raven whose lips had become a fine line.
Dick rolls his eyes. “Dude, you followed her around like a lost puppy for months before she gave you the time of day.”
“Not cool, man. You’re supposed to agree with me.”
“Even if you’re telling an out and out lie?”
“Especially then.” Both Dick and Gar laugh. Gar sobered up first. “Besides, I think he’s supposed to be back in Gotham at the end of the week. Tam’s pissed at him for skipping out on some of his meeting from his last visit. She made him promise that he’d be back sooner rather than later.”
Shit, Tim’s not comfortable with the way Dick’s eye’s lit up at the mention of Tam. It’s the same way they’d light up for Tim when Tim gave Dick an idea for pranking Bruce.
BB, however, doesn’t seem to notice. Instead, he keeps barreling on. “So, if you play your cards right, you should be able to see him in just a few days. Okay, dude?”
“Gotcha.” Dick’s eyes are still dancing.
There’s a delightful new gnawing sensation in Tim’s gut.
Fantastic.
* * *
“I have an idea,” Dick announces as he enters the Batcave. Bruce doesn’t look up from the project he’s working on at his workbench. Jason doesn’t stop his before patrol warm-ups.
Jason calls over to Bruce. “Ya better call the papers, B. Dick had an idea. Ya know how rare they are.”
Dick rolls his eyes. Brothers. “Yes, yes, your hilarious, Jason. No, I had an idea about getting Tim back.”
Bruce put down the piece of something he’s trying to resemble and stares at Dick.
Bruce’s stare isn’t anything compared to Batman’s stare but it’s still nothing to sneeze at. Dick knows that something had been bothering Bruce since he had talked to Selina. The Bruce’s Brood (patent pending) is stronger than normal.
Dick eyes Bruce for a second before continuing on. “I called Gar last week to ask him for a favor. Asked him if he could give me any info on Tim.”
Jason stops mid pushup to stare at Dick. “Bet he fuckin’ loved that.”
“No, he was partially happy with that idea,” No, Dick, we aren’t going to spy on our teammate for you flashes in Dick’s mind before he shoves it aside. “But he did say he’d take it to the rest of the team for a vote. That was about a week ago. Well, I just got a call from Gar. The Titans are on board.”
Jason’s jaw drops before he hops up and grabs a water bottle. Leaning against Bruce’s workbench, he says, “ya honestly think they’re gonna fuckin’ tell you what’s goin’ on?”
“Gar said they would,” Dick insists. “And it’s a place to start. But, we’re getting off track. No, Gar said that Tim was going to be back in Gotham at the end of the week for WE stuff. So I was thinking, we need a way to get Tim to believe us when we say that we want him back, right? Well, he’s got to be here in order for us to do anything so—”
“What? Ya wanna ambush ‘em at WE? That’s a fuckin’ terrible idea. Remember what happened the last time ya did that?”
I’m not your Brother Dick.
Dick flinches at the memory before pushing it aside. They were going to have plenty of time to…correct Tim’s thoughts of whether or not he is or is not Dick’s family.
“No, that’s not what I’m thinking. If Tim Drake is at WE that means that Red Robin will be patrolling. If we can have his back when he’s patrolling, he might start to trust us again. And isn’t that the goal?”
Jason rolls his eyes. “Ya think that if we hang out with ‘em for a couple of nights that he’ll want to kiss n’ make up? You're dreaming.”
Dick counts to ten before exhale. “It’s a place to start.”
“Agreed.” Bruce’s voice finally cuts in. Both Jason and Dick whip around to stare at him. “Tim…Tim needs proof before he’ll believe. Believe in us again.” Bruce pauses before shaking his head. “The only way to get him to come back into the family is if he believes in us again but if we put too much pressure on him, he’ll run.”
“Like he did ta ya last week?” Dick elbows Jason who doesn’t notice.
Bruce grimaces. “Yes, well, Batman may have come on a little strong last week.”
“Little?” Jason smirks.
“Enough Todd.” Damian emerges from the shower toweling off his hair. “Father, Grayson, if you really want Drake back in line, which I’m still unclear as to why—”
“He’s family,” Dick’s exasperated at this point. Sometimes his family was clueless. “He’s fucking family and we fucking let him fall. We failed him.” Dick glares at Bruce. “Did you know that Tim was on life support?”
Bruce’s stony face is answer enough. Damian’s smirk falters while Jason clenches his fists.
“Yeah, didn’t think so. Gar and Rave apparently called me and I missed the fucking call.” Dick runs his fingers through his hair. “We need to get him back. Tim isn’t going to come back to town for us,” Dick ignores the way his stomach clenches when he says this, “but he will come back for work. Let’s use that. Right now, he’s only in town a few days a month. At most.”
“Yes. I would say work would be the only thing that Drake would come back for.”
Damian’s sneer was firmly back in place. Dick didn’t miss that Damian’s hands were slightly shaking. Maybe he cares a bit more then he’s been letting on.
“So we’ll use that. And when he’s here, we’ll try and get him to, I don’t know, catch a movie with us, go on patrol, get him to have a goddamn conversation with us, something. Then, we’ll try and ease him back into the family.”
“Tt. That’s a dreadful plan, Grayson.”
“Do you have a better one?” Dick snaps. None of the other Bats move. “Great. Then this is the plan we’re going with.”
* * *
“I’ve said it before and I’ll say it again, Tim.” Cassie flips through her magazine. “Trying to trick Batman is a terrible idea.”
Tim’s due to back in Gotham later this afternoon. He had been having this argument for the last half an hour. “I know, Cass, you’ve made it clear that you don’t like what I’m doing. You don’t have to help if you don’t want to.” Tim straightens his tie. “Besides, Tam will kill me if I don’t go to Gotham today. Seriously,” he answers Cassie’s skeptical look, “I don’t think that Con could stop her.”
“Oh, I’m not crossing Tam, even for you, man,” Con claps Tim on the shoulder. “She scares the crap out of me. And, she doesn’t even need Kryptonite to do it.”
Cass waves her magazine at Tim. “You know Vicki Vale says your having a secret affair with Tam again, right?”
Conner snorts, “are they engaged again?”
“Not yet,” Cass skims the article, “apparently Bruce doesn’t approve.”
Tim sighs as he swings his duffle bag onto his shoulders. “Can’t wait to field those questions. Time to go.”
Giving Tim a critical look, Cassie finally put down her magazine. “You sound like your going to your death.”
Tim grimaces, “worse. I’m going to a city full of Bats who know I’m coming.”
“Don’t worry, man. It’ll be fun,” Tim gives Conner a look who just shrugs. “Or it’ll be terrible, in which case, you call me and I’ll get you out of there. Win, win.”
Open mouthed, Tim stares at Con while Cassie shakes her head. “We need to work on your pep talks, Sweetie.”
A few hours later (thank you, repurposed Batplane), Tim’s punching his code to his apartment.
After Batman visit, Tim took all the bugs that Batman had planted and sent them back with a note saying better luck next time.
There hadn’t been a response.
Admittedly, the fruit basket mighta been too much.
Of course, that didn’t mean while Tim was at the Tower that Batman, Nightwing, Red Hood or even Robin (though, probably not Robin because all of his belonging were still intact) coulda come through again and planted more.
Even though Tim’s confident his security system would have alerted him to an intruder, he still put on a little show because, well, Bats.
Sighing, Tim enters his apartment, dumping his briefcase and duffle onto the couch while scanning the room.
Nothing yet.
Turning towards the hallway, Tim traces the wall with the tips of his figures, scanning all the while. There wasn’t anything in the bathroom (and thank Gods, that’s one conversation he was glad not to have), his bedroom, living room, guest room, kitchen, or really, any room he searched.
Shanking his head, Tim opens the fridge. Fuck, sometimes, I’m just as fucking paranoid as Bruce.
From the table, Tim hears the sound of his phone vibrating. Closing the fridge, Tim sees Babs’ smiling face flashing from the screen.
Fuck.
Leave it to Oracle to know when I’m back in Gotham.
Before he could lose his nerve, Tim presses the speakerphone button.
“Hey, Babs, what can I do for you?”
“Well,” her tone is light, teasing, “you could give me half the Drake fortune and become my personal Tech guru.”
Tim rolls his eyes. “Is that all?”
Barbara laughs. “It is. But more realistically, you could have dinner with me tonight.”
Tim stops mid-search. “I don’t know, Babs.”
“How much food do you have in your fridge right now? And remember, I know when you’re lying to me.”
Sure. Tim gives the offending fridge a dark look.
“I have this new magical thing. It’s called a credit card. And I can buy things with it. Like food.”
“Great,” Babs matches Tim’s sarcastic tone. “You can use this new mystical item to get me dinner too. And I’m craving a sub from that deli down the street from you.”
Tim resists the urge to slam his head against a wall. “They deliver.”
Babs clicks her tongue. “It’s not the same, Tim.”
Tim sinks down into a chair next to the table. “Babs, I just got to Gotham. I haven't even unpacked yet. Rain check?”
“Tim, we both know you’re not going to unpack. Come on, just an hour. If I hear Jason tell me you ‘hit it with a hammer and light it on fire’ one more time, I’m going to do that to him.”
Tim pinches the bridge of his nose. All he wanted to do tonight was veg out.
Especially since tomorrow is (probably) going to be shit.
However, he knew losing battle when he saw one.
“Fine, give me an hour. I’ll bring food over to the Clocktower.”
“You’re the best, Tim!” With that, Barbara hung up.
Tim gets up to take a shower before going over to the Clocktower (ignoring the growing gnawing feeling in his gut).
It’s been there since BB called Dick, it’s not going to magically go away just because you want it to. Suck it up, Drake.
Tim shakes his head, changing into Tim Drake clothes. He pulls on blue jeans, one of his favorite shirts with an empty coffee cup equals dead battery on it, a pair of converse that were practically falling apart, and an oversized hoodie which he pulls over his head.
All and all, he felt more like himself then he had in a very long time.
Tim shoved the gnawing feeling in his gut out of his head again. All he was going to do was go, have dinner with Barbara, go on patrol then bed. A few hellish days at WE and he could escape back to the Tower.
Smiling, Tim goes down to his garage that housed everything from Tim Drake’s skateboard to Tim Wayne’s shiny new Jag to Red Robin’s newest (to Gotham) bike. Tim grabs the keys to one of his daytime civilian cars.
Unlocked the Jetta, Tim slides inside. The outside might look shit but the inside was still in good shape. The car had been one of the first things that Tim had bought when he had first moved out of the Manner. At the time, Tim had wanted a car to get from point A to point B without hassle.
And here's the winner, all these years later, still chugging along, much to Tim’s surprise.
Jiggling the key in the ignition, Tim manages to get the car to whine to life. Grinning, Tim pulls out of his garage and into traffic.

Moving On (fic)
When Dick moves back to Gotham after the Teen Titans disband, he has difficulty adjusting to working under Batman’s direction. Luckily he has friends who are willing to listen and help him figure out a solution (at least temporarily).
(I imagined this happening in a timeline where Dick has become Nightwing (since the New Teen Titans have disbanded) but before Jason Todd has become the new Robin.)
Written for Writer’s Month 2019 Day 4: Road Trip.
Note: I do not own these characters.
Read it on Ao3.
“It’s just so frustrating!” Dick ranted, stomping across the roof of the Gotham City Concert Hall. “I think I had more freedom as an unstable twelve-year-old than I do now. It’s like he needs to keep an eye on me 24/7. It’s stifling!”
“Maybe he’s just trying to keep you safe,” Donna suggested, sticking a couple of fries in her mouth and pretending her friend’s crisis wasn’t her evening’s entertainment.
“But I don’t need a babysitter anymore. I’m not a kid! And I might not have as much experience at this night job, but I’m pretty sure my track record as Robin and with the Titans deserves a higher vote of confidence.”
“I’m sure he knows this.”
“Then why isn’t he letting me work independently anymore?”
“SorryI’mlate!” A red and yellow blur materialized into Wally West. He pulled off the mask portion of his suit and took a seat next to Donna. “I got distracted by a car chase in Detroit. What am I missing?”
“Batman’s smothering Dick and he’s not happy,” Donna explained, passing him his own extra large order of fries.
“Ah, a classic case of clingy parenting. Have you told him you need space?”
“I shouldn’t need to tell him,” Dick grumbled. “I thought all those years working with you guys in the Teen Titans was me telling him I needed space.”
“Maybe, but you moved back home now, which implies you’re going to live on his terms,” Donna mused. “I mean, Gotham is his territory. You know how much of a control freak he is. Of course he’s going to want to tell you exactly what to do.”
“And,” Wally added around a mouthful of fries, “he hasn’t necessarily seen how much you’ve grown and matured while you were away. Parents have this strange tendency to believe their kids are younger and feebler than they actually are. He probably still thinks you’re the wild adolescent he took in a few years ago.”
“But I’m not!”
“Well duh.” Wally rolled his eyes.
“So what am I supposed to do?” Dick growled frustratedly. He kicked at one of the scraps of trash that seemed obligated to be on every Gotham rooftop.
“Move,” Donna said pointedly. “Get out of Gotham. You’ll never get the independence you want here.”
“But this is my home too! I shouldn’t have to leave just because he’s been here longer. Gotham’s a big enough city to host several heroes.”
Wally and Donna exchanged skeptical looks.
“Dude, you haven’t been in Gotham more than three weeks straight for the past four years. Why are you so afraid of moving?”
“I’m not. I just don’t know that it’s the right time. I mean, at the very least this clinginginess has shown me how much Batman still needs a sidekick.”
“He’s hopeless,” Wally muttered, crushing his empty fries carton.
“For Zeus’s sake, Dick! Pick a side,” Donna growled. “Do you want to be the mature adult ready to strike out on his own or the self-sacrificing son sticking around to encourage his father’s dependency issues?”
“I just- I haven’t figured it out yet, okay? You guys might be used to doing things solo, but I prefer being around people who have my back.”
“Is that what this is about?” Donna asked incredulously. “You think we’ve abandoned you because our team disbanded?”
“That’s cold, dude. I mean, what do you call this then? Just a regular old courtesy chat on a dirty rooftop at an unholy hour of the night?”
“No,” Dick sighed. “That’s not what I meant. I’m sorry.”
“We know, dude. Relax. We’re just giving you a hard time.” Wally smiled sympathetically.
“Honestly, there are days when I miss the team or our sidekick eras,” Donna admitted, “but just like our civilian lives, there comes a point where we have to make our own decisions as heroes. We don’t get to stay kids forever.”
Dick turned his back to his friends and gazed out across the Gotham cityscape, a frown on his face. This place was always so dramatic. The shadows were darker than they were in other cities, and lights were either a dim and useless yellow or bright enough to blind. It made him miss the sun and clean air. He’d liked being at Titans Tower. There’d been a lot less lurking, and they’d made most of their plans and decisions together as a team. Could he find that respect and joy in Gotham?
“You know what?” Wally asked suddenly, breaking into his musings. (Dick refused to believe he’d inherited Bruce’s brooding tendency.) “Let’s go on a road trip!”
“And how is that supposed to help me sort things out?”
Wally shrugged.
“Maybe it will, maybe it won’t. But it’ll give you some temporary space from the Bat, and you’ll get to hang out with us for a few weeks.”
“A few weeks?” Donna looked concerned.
“”It’s a road trip. Those things aren’t fast,” he chuckled.
“I have a job, though.”
“As a freelance photographer. Your schedule’s flexible, right? Plus you can take you camera along and get some cool location shots to fill out your portfolio.”
“And what locations do you have in mind?”
“Anywhere!” He spread his arms wide. “The Grand Canyon, the St. Louis Arch, Broadway, whatever! This might be our last big hurrah together before adulthood and jobs and things. So? What do you say?”
The other two exchanged looks. Dick shrugged. It wasn’t like he had anything better to do.
“Alright,” Donna agreed, “on a few conditions.”
“Let’s hear them.”
“No night job stuff. That means no costumes, no cases, and keeping the powers to a minimum. If we’re going to make this an escape from the crazy, we minimize the crazy we bring with us.”
“Fine by me,” Wally agreed.
“My other condition is Roy comes too. It wouldn’t feel right to go without him.”
“Cool. Is that it? I’ll go ask him right now.”
Before either could stop him, Wally zoomed off the roof heading towards Star City.
“How long do you think it’ll take him to convince Roy?” Dick asked. His friend shrugged, gathering up their discarded food wrappers and crushing them into a paper bag.
“Not long. He’s been talking about taking a break for a while. Assuming he thinks he can survive being stuck with us in a car for a few weeks, he’ll be on board.”
They waited in silence for a while, the sounds of sirens and street traffic the backdrop for their thoughts. It had been a while since Dick hadn’t been surrounded by noise. Getting away from it might be nice, or it might be unsettling. He supposed he’d find out.
Wally returned, skidding to a halt and scattering bits of trash around him. He had a big grin on his face and was holding another bag of take-out.
“Roy said yes,” he announced. “Now who wants more fries?”
-----
When Roy opened his front door five days later, he was met with the flash of a camera.
“Donna come on,” he groaned, but there was amusement in his eyes.
“I have a fondness for candids,” she grinned, snapping another for good measure.
“Between your camera and Wally’s choice of music, I might be driven to murder by the end of this.” He threw a large duffle bag into the back of his truck where several other bags full of camping equipment and luggage were piling up.
“What do you have against Shakira?” Wally demanded, adding a tarp to the pile.
“Nothing, unless she’s on repeat for two and a half hours.”
“But you told me I needed to joke less and be more honest. Hips don’t lie, Roy. You can’t get more honest than that.”
Roy just rolled his eyes and turned to Donna.
“Is Dick back yet?”
“Nope, but we did give him a big shopping list. I’m not sure how he’s going to fit everything on his motorcycle.”
“Want me to run and check on him?” Wally offered.
“No need,” Donna announced, spotting their friend turning onto Roy’s street. She could see shopping bags filling his limited storage and balanced carefully on his bike. Glancing at the already full truck, she wondered where they were going to fit it all, though Wally would probably eat half of it before they pulled out of the driveway.
“They didn’t have any good trail mix,” Dick announced, slipping off his helmet, “but there will be plenty of truck stops and Trader Joe’s along the way so I can pick some up later.”
“Thanks man.” Wally grabbed a few of the bags, but instead of strategically packing them in the truck, he began rifling through them on the hunt for something to eat.
“No cheese puffs,” Roy warned. “I don’t want orange fingerprints all over my interior.”
“Bugles it is, then.”
An hour later, the truck was packed, Dick’s motorcycle was tucked safely into the garage, and they’d managed to claim their seats with minimal arguing.
“Who’s ready for some music?” Dick asked while Roy eased out onto the road. Having won the passengers seat, he was responsible for navigational support and road tunes. Hitting play on his phone, the bright horn intro for “Hips Don’t Lie” filtered through the speakers. Wally bit back a giggle. Roy just sighed resignedly.
“If the next song is another Shakira, I am pulling over and kicking both of you out.”
“Oh baby when you talk like that, you make a woman go mad,” Dick sang at him in falsetto. By the end of the song, even Roy was singing along.

Age Matters (1)
Damian Wayne x Reader
Damian falls in love with an older woman.
Warning: Talks about age when it comes to relationships. Not at all inappropriate.
[ Master List ]
For years you have been Damian’s crime-fighting partner. The two of you started off a couple of strong-headed kids as Batgirl and Robin. There was plenty of arguing and fighting because of the age difference. You were a few years older than Damian meaning you were put in charge most of the time and he couldn’t stand taking orders from you. He had actually told himself he hated you but the reality was far from it.
+++
Damian looked up from the sketchbook in his hands at the sound of a soft knock on the door. “What is it Grayson-” He immediately closed the sketchbook he had been intensely focused on when he looked up to see Dick wasn’t the one who had entered his room. His startled expression changed slightly when he took in the sight you in the Batwoman suit. It was more than his teenage lovesick heart could handle. “What are you doing here?”
A smile graced your lips reaching your eyes. “Looking for you of course.” Without hesitation you walked in, closing the door behind you. “Sorry I hope I didn’t interrupt you.” He looked startled by your presence which was totally understandable considering you technically had no business being at the tower anymore.
Damian shook his head, on the contrary, he was glad to see you. “It was just some recreational reading.” As he grew older Damian thought about you a lot more than he cared to admit.
Your brow arched taking a second look at the book he had just closed. “You read from your sketchbook?” His eyes narrowed in response making you retract with a soft giggle. “Sorry, none of my business, I know.” Damian valued his privacy which you respected for the most part. Sometimes you just couldn’t help snooping into his life. The boy was a mystery waiting to be solved. You missed him so much that you didn’t care if you got yelled at.
Damian stumbled back when you crashed into him. He had grown over the years but you were still taller than him making his head rest on your chest when you wrapped your arms tightly around his neck. The warmth that radiated off of you was intoxicating.
“I missed my crime-fighting partner. Do you know how peaceful my patrols have been lately?” You began rambling on and on about all the thoughts you have been keeping to yourself. These were things you would usually talk about with him when you were out on patrol. “I have no one to argue with. They changed the formula for my favorite mascara... I fed Bat-cow the other day... Bruce yelled at me for getting hurt... I was so excited when Bruce said you were going to be taking over as Batman on your twentieth birthday... We can be partners again!”
When you turned twenty you graduated from Batgirl to Batwoman leaving the Titans behind. It was a huge change for both of you. Before you were always together, you were always there by his side, you were his first crush. He started to miss you now that you were off on your own as Batwoman while he stayed with the Titans. Damian refused the very idea that he could ever fall in love yet he did nothing to stop the physical contact you had initiated.
The last time you hugged him like this was years ago. At that time he threatened to kill you if you ever dared to do so again.
His silence worried you. Was he so mad that he had gone completely silent? Was this the calm before the storm? You apologized as you backed off, “Sorry, I just really missed you.”
“Tt,” Damian turned his back to you. He spent seven years fighting, pushing you away pretending to be annoyed by your presence alone. Now he had no idea how to respond to the ache in his chest, the fluttering in his stomach, the restlessness. “I missed you too.”
His words came out as a whisper, nonetheless, you heard it loud and clear. “What? Did you just say you missed me?” Your cheeks were hurting from how big your smile had grown.
When he thought about it he realized his mother was right. Emotions really made people weak. He was no longer able to put up a fight against you. He had fallen in love with someone who only saw him as a little brother.
Just then Dick entered the room, the sight was strange, to say the least. You were smiling from ear to ear while Damian scowled. “The emotional range in this room is alarming.”
+++
“Damian you have to calm down.” Jon followed Damian to Gotham where they headed straight for Wayne Manor.
For months you had been fighting off Owlman who wanted you as his new partner. When you refused he tried various methods to force you. When none of them worked he decided the next best thing was to get rid of you. He was almost successful.
“Why did no one tell me!”
Damian’s entrance immediately got the attention of the two people in the cave.
Jon quickly apologized for the intrusion before trying to hold back Damian. It was all very useless because when it came to you he knew there was nothing he could do. Jon was probably the only person who knew Damian had feelings for you. He had seen it in his friend’s actions even before Damian realized it himself. When you were a Titan he noticed the way Damian’s heart skipped a beat at your appearance.
“The court of owls was never targeting the general population or the Titans,” Bruce stated in a very matter of fact way. It was just another way of saying, this was none of his business.
Of course, it only added the fire that was Damian Wayne. “Owlman was trying to get Y/N to join him, she’s MY partner!” He hated to be left out of everything just because his father thought it didn’t concern him. “If anyone should have helped her it’s me.”
It was starting to look like a fight would breakout making Jon put his hand on Damian’s shoulder.
“Relax Damian,” Dick got between father and son trying to de-escalate the situation. “It wasn’t Bruce who decided to keep you in the dark....it was Y/N.”
His expression softened, you had asked to keep him out of it. You were in trouble and didn’t reach out to him for help. Instead, you went to his father, or maybe Dick.
Jon didn’t know what to do, he preferred angry Damian over this one. “Where is she?” he asked thinking this was probably a good time for his friend to see you.
Dick took them up to the room where you were resting. Coincidentally it happens to be Jason’s room vexing him further. You were laying in bed, peacefully, hooked to an IV drip. “Is she unconscious?”
“No, she’s just resting after Jason insisted Bruce put her through like a hundred tests to check for a concussion and internal bleeding. Even before that she was awake for thirty-nine hours.”
Jon had heard all about the Batfamily sleep schedules but that was just insane. It did explain why you had gotten hurt, no way you were in top condition when you fought of Owlman.
Damian pushed past Dick to get a closer look at you. His chest tightened at the sight of a purplish-blue bruise that poked out of the bandages wrapped around your head. His eyes moved towards your arm that rested in a cast. Your hands a testament to how hard you fought back.
He couldn’t help himself, he reached out to hold your hand effectively alerting Dick. He didn’t want to hurt you so he opted to just brush his fingers against yours. “Why did she not want me to be informed?”
Watching his younger brother’s movements he concluded, “Damian are you two...?” He couldn’t bring himself to say it. There had been some suspicion. Damian had made a clear effort to seek you out even after you had gone solo. On off days he would hear about you two going to museums, he knew you both liked history and thought it was a shared interest that brought you closer together as a team but perhaps it was more.
Annoyed, Damian sighed. “No...” the two of you were nothing but friends if even that. You had distanced yourself ever since that day. “I was rejected.” After gathering the courage to profess his feelings to you Damian was ultimately dismissed.
“What-” you let go of Damian’s hands that you had previously been holding onto. It was all sweet and innocent affection until now. Hearing his confession made you painfully aware that you two were alone in his room. For the first time ever you felt like it was wrong to be there. Not only that but you were sitting on his bed.
“I’ll say it again if you don’t believe me.”
“No, don’t!” You stopped him, it wasn’t that you didn’t believe him. The problem was that you did believe him. Damian was honestly confessing his feelings to you but all you could think about was the age difference. Sure if he were thirty and you thirty-three it didn’t sound so bad but he was seventeen and you were twenty. “Dami, you’re just a teenager-”
“As were you only eight months ago.”
Silence overcame you not knowing what to respond. It was funny how something like age never seemed to matter once both parties were adults but in the transition between teen and adult, it was a complex situation. “Sorry, Dami... maybe if you were older but not as we are...” Suddenly you found yourself really looking at Damian.
He wasn’t the little boy you once knew, he was shaping up to be a great man. His morals were becoming clearer every day, his resolve to help others was stronger, and despite what others thought he wasn’t emotionally stunted. Being around him for so long made it easy for you to see how kind, thoughtful, and generous he really was. He still hated recognizing that he had emotions and couldn’t take a compliment either.
You shook your head knowing very well that you didn’t even have to ask yourself if you loved Damian. As a person, he was great despite his flaws but he was your partner, he was a kid you grew up with, and a great friend.
Damian was crushed but hopeful. Not once did you ever say you didn’t love him. If age was all that mattered to you then he would wait. “If I were Grayson or Todd’s age...” he paused before mentioning Tim even though he was the closest in age to you he didn’t want to compare himself to Drake. “Would you consider my feelings genuine?”
You nodded.
Dick gasped loudly, his little brother was growing up and he didn’t even see it coming. “I thought you were emotionally stunted by your mother and let’s face it Bruce isn’t any better in the feelings department. This is so unexpected!”
Jon and Damian both shushed him reminding him of your fatigued state. “Maybe we should go outside,” Jon suggested pulling Dick out of the room. He wanted to give his friend a moment alone to give that lump in his throat a chance to come out.
As soon as the door closed Damian sighed. Letting his guard down allowed him to focus on you. His eyes caught sight of the small lines that went across your bottom lip. It looked like a dotted line in a contrasting red color from that of your lips, they were the marks of your teeth. You always had a habit of biting your lower lip, no matter the pain, to keep others from knowing how much you hurt. This time you managed to permanently cast your teeth in the plush of your lips.
How he wished to be older, to be able to show you how much he loved you... With no one around he said it once more. “I love you,” and leaned down bringing his lips to yours in a chaste kiss.

Killer - Part 3
This is just really quick and really short. Don’t worry it’s not the end! I have no idea when I will be able to post next. Hope you like it! Let me know what you think should happen next!
Killer - Part 2
The boys come back from the zoo several hours later. Conner had decided to go back to the Titans so he could watch over the younger heroes in Tim’s absence.
“Kon says that he loves you and that he’ll support you. He’s sorry that he couldn’t tell you himself, but …” Tim shrugs.
“Thanks, Timmy. I’ll have to make a trip to the Tower soon. I’m sure the kids could use a homecooked meal”
Tim’s whole face brightens, “You should come live at the Tower! Damian is supposed to join the Titans soon, Dick’s always there to visit Kori, and I’m there too!”
“Yes, your presence would greatly improve my stay there, Ummi. It might make the presence of the others tolerable”
Jason’s been surprisingly quiet through Tim’s suggestion, “Jay, what do you think?”
“I’m not allowed at the Tower, Mom. Was dubbed a bad influence to the younger generation”
“That was years ago, Littlewing!” Dick slings an arm around Jason’s shoulders, “You don’t kill anymore, and it’ll be good for the kids to have a marksman to help teach them”
“Alfred can come too!”
Said man chuckles, “I believe that it would be good for me to spend weekends away from the Manor. I cannot completely abandon Master Bruce, so weekends will be the only times I am available”
“I’m sure the kids would take any time you could give them, Alfie. However,” You glance over at your two oldest sons, “I can’t have you just abandoning your father. Tim and Damian are scheduled to stay full time with the Titans, but I need you two to still keep an eye on Gotham and Bludhaven.”
Jason rolls his eyes, and gets a smack on the back of the head for it, “We’re not gonna just leave Gotham, mom. B will still have backup if he needs us for a big case. Steph and Cass are planning to come back to Gotham anyway, they’ll be able to help B. And with his track record, he’ll just find another kid to take up the Robin mantle”
“Yeah, I sure in hell hope not. Your father has never been the best at actually raising you kids. He’s damn good at training you to fight and do detective work, but he’s a little … emotionally stunted”
That sends Dick, Tim, and Jason into a fit of laughter and manages to make Damian crack a smile. “You can say that again!”
“Now that we’ve all had a good laugh, how about we order some pizzas, watch a few movies, and then head to bed?”
“Sounds like a plan” Dick grabs a pen, “What does everyone want?”
Amidst the shouting of pizza orders, you quietly pull Alfred aside, “I’ve made my decision, I can’t do it. I hope you aren’t mad at me, but this just isn’t something I can do”
Alfred smiles, “I understand, you know that I will support you”
“When the boys fall asleep I’ll head to the Manor, if they wake up will you -”
“I’ll tell them that you went out for a walk”
“Thanks. Now come on, if we don’t get out there Dick will forget to get you extra cheesy bread”
--
Getting into the Manor undetected is easy without a hypervigilant butler to stop you. Bruce is already in the cave, probably out on Patrol still, so you know you won’t be interrupted.
Titus and Alfred the cat follow you as you make your way around the Manor, picking up a few of Jason’s books, Damian’s swords, Tim’s laptop, and Dick’s cereal. Steeling yourself you make your way up to the master bedroom, “He hasn’t even been in here, has he?” Titus just huffs.
Everything is exactly as you left it, the bed sheets still rumpled, a pair of sweat pants tossed on the floor, even your phone is untouched. Making a quick loop around the room, you stuff everything you’ll need into a duffle bag. With trembling hands, you write out a quick note and lay it on Bruce’s pillow, right on top of a neat stack of papers that were signed and notified earlier that day.
--
Bruce hasn’t left the Cave in almost a week. He’s barely slept, only managing to grab a few hours here and there on a cot that’s in the Cave. He doesn’t have Alfred or Y/N to drag him upstairs into an actual bed to rest, or to eat.
When he finally does manage to make it upstairs, the Manor is ominously quiet. Like the Manor itself knows that something has changed with its inhabitants.
Bruce makes his way upstairs, and to his bedroom. He takes a quick shower, and flops down on the bed. His head lands directly on top of a stack of papers, and a note that’s written in undeniably familiar handwriting.
Bruce,
I’m sorry. I’m so sorry that things have turned out this way, but I can’t do this anymore. I can’t forgive you for throwing me in jail like that, for being more Batman than my husband. I married you because I loved you, and I still love you. You made a choice that night, you chose to be Batman instead of Bruce.
I signed for the divorce, Alfred said that you’ve had the papers written up for years. I already gave it to my lawyer and he had it notarized. You had already signed the papers so there wasn’t any need for you to be there. Alfred is staying with me for a little while, just until I leave Gotham. The boys are also staying with me.
I wanted to forgive you, Bruce. I know that I broke a promise to you, and I’m sorry for that, but you wouldn’t listen. You wouldn’t listen and you threw me in jail like I was just another piece of Gotham trash. Don’t take your anger out on Alfred or the kids. Take care of yourself, B.
I’ll always love you,
Y/N
Bruce reads the note again and again, trying to make his tired mind comprehend what he was reading. Of all the outcomes he had thought of, he’d never thought that Y/N would sign for a divorce, maybe a separation, but not a divorce.
He glances down as the papers, papers that he had written up as a contingency plan. Papers that Y/N had gotten ahold of and had signed. Life as he knew it, forever changed with her neat signature on the line beneath his own.
And for the first time in a long time, Bruce Wayne cried.

Nine years ago, Pierce was a hero of a different sort. Gifted with the superhuman power to harness and control electricity, he used those powers to keep his hometown streets safe as the masked vigilante Black Lightning. However, after too many nights with his life on the line, and seeing the effects of the damage and loss that his alter ego was inflicting on his family, he left his Super Hero days behind and settled into being a principal and a dad. Choosing to help his city without using his superpowers, he watched his daughters Anissa (Nafessa Williams) and Jennifer (China Anne McClain) grow into strong young women, even though his marriage to their mother, Lynn (Christine Adams), suffered. Almost a decade later, Pierce’s crime-fighting days are long behind him…or so he thought. But with crime and corruption spreading like wildfire, and those he cares about in the crosshairs of the menacing local gang The One Hundred, Black Lightning returns — to save not only his family, but also the soul of his community. 3:30–4:10 p.m. Supergirl Special Video Presentation and Q&A — Ridding National City of Queen Rhea and her Daxamite army was a major win for Supergirl, but one that came at a significant cost, as Kara was forced to sacrifice her budding relationship with Mon-El. When season three returns with all-new supercharged adventures this fall on The CW, Kara and team will come up against a new threat in the form of DC Worldkiller, Reign. Want to know more about Reign and what she has in store for the Girl of Steel? Join the series’ cast and creative team for a special video presentation, followed by a Q&A where they’ll discuss this hot topic and more! (Ballroom 20)
4:10–4:50 p.m. DC’s Legends of Tomorrow Special Video Presentation and Q&A — After crash landing the Waverider in a version of 2017 Los Angeles where dinosaurs roam the streets and the skyline is adorned with London’s iconic Big Ben clock tower, the Legends were quick to realize that “we broke time.” Last year, the loveable band of misfit heroes traveled throughout the timeline fixing a series of Aberrations. This year, they’ll be turning the crazy up to 11, as a wave of Anachronisms turns History on its head, leaving the Legends responsible for piecing it back together. What is an Anachronism you ask? For the answer to that, and many other questions, join cast members Victor Garber, Brandon Routh, Dominic Purcell, Caity Lotz, Franz Drameh, Nick Zano, Maisie Richardson-Sellers and producers at their annual Comic-Con panel. (Ballroom 20)
4:15–5:15 p.m. Westworld Panel and Q&A — HBO’s Westworld concluded its critically acclaimed first season in December and is currently saddling up for season two. The series — created, executive produced and written by Jonathan Nolan and Lisa Joy — is a dark odyssey about the dawn of artificial consciousness and the evolution of sin. Cast panelists include (in alphabetical order) Ben Barnes as Logan, Ingrid Bolsø Berdal as Armistice, Ed Harris as the Man in Black, Luke Hemsworth as Stubbs, James Marsden as Teddy, Thandie Newton as Maeve, Simon Quarterman as Lee Sizemore, Rodrigo Santoro as Hector, Angela Sarafyan as Clementine, Jimmi Simpson as William, Tessa Thompson as Charlotte Hale, Evan Rachel Wood as Dolores, Shannon Woodward as Elsie and Jeffrey Wright as Bernard/Arnold. The panel will be moderated by internationally renowned vocal artist/beatboxer/musician and comedian Reggie Watts. (Hall H)
4:50–5:10 p.m. Black Lightning Special Video Presentation and Q&A — Black Lightning makes its Comic-Con debut! Jefferson Pierce (Cress Williams) is a man wrestling with a secret. As the father of two daughters and principal of a charter high school that also serves as a safe haven for young people in a neighborhood overrun by gang violence, he is a hero to his community. Join series stars Cress Williams, Nafessa Williams, China Anne McClain and Christine Adams, along with executive producers Salim Akil & Mara Brock Akil for an exclusive sneak peek at the upcoming series along with an electrifying Q&A session. (Ballroom 20)
5:10–5:50 p.m. The Flash Special Video Presentation and Q&A — Running up against an evil time remnant version of yourself is something no one should ever have to do, but that’s exactly what faced Barry Allen (aka The Flash) as he fought to save the life of fiancée Iris West from the God of Speed known as Savitar. Barry’s victory was short-lived, however, as an unbalanced Speed Force began to wreak havoc on Central City, forcing Barry to sacrifice himself for the greater good. With The Fastest Man Alive now trapped inside an extra-dimensional energy, and unknown dangers lurking in the shadows, it will be up to Team Flash to free Barry from his own personal Hell. Join cast members Grant Gustin, Jesse L. Martin, Tom Cavanagh, Candice Patton, Danielle Panabaker, Carlos Valdes, Keiynan Lonsdale and producers of The CW’s highest-rated series at their annual Comic-Con panel, and be among the first to find out where things will pick up when season four returns this fall. (Ballroom 20)
5:50–6:30 p.m. Arrow Special Video Presentation and Q&A — With the future of the team left hanging in the balance, Arrow gave new definition to the phrase “blowing up the show.” The emotional showdown between Oliver Queen and Adrian Chase was the perfect conclusion to a stellar fifth season of The CW’s gritty DC Super Hero series. Now, the focus shifts to uncovering the fate of each and every member of Team Arrow. Could anyone have possibly survived an island-wide explosion, or has the book closed on them, as it has on Oliver’s five-year flashback story? Returning to San Diego Comic-Con for a sixth consecutive year, cast members Stephen Amell, David Ramsey, Willa Holland, Emily Bett Rickards, Paul Blackthorne, Katie Cassidy, Echo Kellum, Juliana Harkavy, Rick Gonzalez and producers will be on-hand for an eye-opening conversation about the upcoming season.
Now Dick’s just gotta convince the Red Hood of that, too…
#Jason is torn between shooting dick and shooting himself#honestly wtF made the boy wonder think he’s interested in playing house with him?#goddammit#this is screwing up his plans already#Jason was scheduled for titans tower two hours ago#now he’s babysitting a tired vigilante#who still thinks hood is just an up and coming crime lord he can still turn to the good side or some shit#and now Jason also has to pretend like he’s got no idea that dick grayson is Nightwing#wait why is he doing this again???#bruce wayne
