Jason Peter Todd is not a romantic man.

Flowers die too quickly for his liking; most chocolates are far too sweet for his jaded taste buds; he doesn’t see anything significant in anniversaries or birthdays because time doesn’t change the fact that everything eventually comes to an end; declarations of love and devotion don’t mean much to him because he knows how hollow most people’s words are; physical affection, more often than not, makes him feel trapped and restricted.

But he does buy you your favorite snacks when he notices you’re running low. He fixes your car when he hears that funny knocking noise you’ve been turning up your music to drown out. He places his head in your lap and asks you to read to him, interjecting his own commentary until sleep wraps around him and it’s too laborious to keep his eyes open. He allows you to bandage him when he comes home a bloody mess from his latest stunt. He listens to your late night rambles about conspiracy theories and even offers his own in return. He knows how you prefer your coffee in the morning and makes sure you wake up to a pot full of it no matter how late he climbs through your window.

Jason Peter Todd loves in the opposite way he lives—quietly, subtly, gently, soft around the edges and intense at the core, and, most importantly, consistently.

Reposting a comment I made on a post and adding to it

x Reader fics need to handle writing “reader” better sometimes

As a 6ft afab person who’s built like a man and has never been super feminine and has a more unique haircut that’s shorter I hate to read about “readers” petite, small, pale body and her “long flowy straight hair”, etc.

Reader is meant to be ambiguous!! And if it’s important to the plot please mention it at the beginning!!! If it’s not important to the plot why is it being included???

Some people who are reading may be tall, fat, skinny, short, or even somewhere in between. The readers could have a hijab, 4c hair, locks, braids, long hair, short hair, wavy, no hair and even more.

Stop making all readers so sweet and innocent, I want a reader who’s petty and sassy sometimes. I’ve noticed also that so many readers are either too baby to do anything or over powered.

Personally I also hate reading about obviously toxic men and relationships that the reader goes back to because they are “so in love”, like no please let me deck that sucker and leave them in the dust and be happier.

Also, if you label your post with the tag “___ x reader” or titled with “___ x reader” and then make descriptions and then ADD A NAME!!! It’s not an x reader fic and I heavily want to block you.

Jason Todd likes to eat.

He can definitely go without food for prolonged periods, but he really loves food. Not to mention, with how big and strong he is, maintaining that physique takes a lot of calories. JT will prioritize quantity above just about anything though. If it’s cold that’s not preferable but he won’t complain. If it’s not the best quality he’d shrug it off. But not having enough to eat.. now he’s feeling downright miserable.

It brings him back to crime alley, back to after he rose from the dead with no one to turn to, back to a terribly depressed mental state. On rare occasions it’s even enough to make him cry in frustration.

Making time for himself seems like an insurmountable task more often than J would care to admit.

But since moving in, he hasn’t been hungry in a long time. Even on Jason’s busiest nights, there’s always food! You cook quite often and it takes a huge load off his shoulders. JT gets especially excited about new dishes since you typically rotate a couple of simple but hardy meals. Like super excited, lol. Upon arrival he can sniff out and pretty accurately guess what he’s eating that day. Sometimes you can’t be bothered and order take-out, after eating your fill, you stick it in the microwave for Jason to handle the rest. He’s happy either way.

Absolutely nothing tops snuggling into your chest after a good meal though. Not a damn thing. A full belly, kind lover, and warm bed is more than he could ever dream for.
