The North American proanthocyanidins market is projected to account for the largest share by 2025. The region has traditionally been a major consumer of proanthocyanidins. The rise in the aging population, increased consumption of healthy food, and growing demand for pharmaceuticals are the major factors driving the market in North America. Functional foods, which provide health benefits beyond basic nutrition, have gained higher importance in the last decade. Typically, food marketed as functional food contains ingredients (such as Proanthocyanidins) with specific health benefits. Consumers are seeking added health benefits from the food consumed, and increasing awareness among them is driving the growth of the functional food & beverage segment in the proanthocyanidins market.

Orthopedic medical imaging has proved to be an informational tool that has helped physicians to diagnose the disease and response of the treatment. Orthopedic medical imaging deliver safe, effective, and high quality imaging, which is a vital parameter for doctors for medical decision-making, which can eventually minimize the need for surgical interventions.

Market Dynamics
Rise in orthopedic disorders and increasing geriatric population that are highly susceptible to develop osteoarthritis is expected to propel the market growth. According to the World Health Organization (WHO), 2013, around 28.2% of the global population aged 60 years and above suffer from osteoarthritis, with an estimated 80% to have mobility handicaps. WHO also states osteoarthritis is expected to be the fourth most common cause of disability by 2020. According to the International Osteoporosis Foundation, 2017, osteoporosis causes over 8.9 million fractures annually, resulting in an osteoporotic fracture every three seconds. One in three women over the age 50 is expected to experience osteoporotic fractures, as will one in five men aged 50 years and above.
Increasing cases of bone fracture trauma due to fall, motor vehicle accident or sports, requires efficient medical intervention, which is provided by orthopedic medical imaging systems, thus, augmenting the market growth. According to the National Trauma Institute, in 2014, traumatic injury is a major cause of death globally, with the major share of road injury (29.1%) and falls (11.6%). According to the National Institute of Health, 2012, knee is the most commonly injured joint by adolescent athletes with an estimated 2.5 million sports-related injuries presenting to emergency departments, annually. This number is expected to increase in the near future.
Moreover, technological advancements in imaging technology, along with specialized training have provided efficient diagnosis for fast intervention. For instance, in February 2018, Siemens Healthineers received the FDA clearance from the U.S. Food and Drug Administration (FDA) for GOKnee3D, a magnetic resonance imaging (MRI) application that reduces the time required to perform knee diagnostics. Also, in February 2018, Qioptiq—an Excelitas Technologies Company—launched SlimLine for X-ray diagnostics featuring spine mode, which enables optimization of overexposed images for maximum contrast and spine visibility. Also, the latest MRI technology -3T MRI uses a magnetic field stronger than any other MRI technology, producing high details that allows scanning of orthopedic disorders and conditions, including bone bruises and spinal conditions.
Regional Dynamics
Regional segmentation of the global orthopedic medical imaging market by Coherent Market Insights comprises North America, Latin America, Europe, Asia Pacific, Middle East, and Africa. North America is expected to hold a dominant position in the global orthopedic medical imaging market over the forecast period. Growth in the regional market is attributed to adoption of innovative systems in the medical settings. In January 2018, the Robotics Outpatient Center, Los Angeles was the only outpatient surgery center in the U.S. to adopt Globus ExcelsiusGPS system. The system has integrated spinal navigation, which allows real-time imaging of patient’s anatomy whereas, robotics allows surgeries to be performed with higher accuracy thus, assuring enhanced safety to the patients.
The orthopedic medical imaging market in Europe is expected to witness high growth rate over the forecast period, owing increasing adoption of novel imaging systems and rising awareness to improve imaging, diagnosis, and patient care. For instance, in February 2018, the European Congress of Radiology introduced two products, VolarView handheld ultrasound devices and GOPView XR2 Plus Orthopedic Package to provide higher quality orthopedic images. Moreover, in 2015, Easote launched Evolution 15 at the European Congress of Radiology. The MRI system provides enhanced image quality for better diagnostic accuracy. Also, increasing incidence of bone injuries caused due to trauma and sports are major factors to accelerate growth of the orthopedic medical imaging market in the region. According to the survey by Imaging Technology News, February 2018, about 11,000 athletes participated in the Rio de Janeiro Summer Olympics, accounting to 1,101 injuries, where the imaging systems such as X-ray, Ultrasound, and MRI were frequently used to determine the therapeutic approach of the athletes.
Competitive Analysis
New product launches of novel medical imaging systems by key players for diagnosis and treatment are expected to aid in fuelling demand for these systems. For instance, Carestream received FDA clearance for OnSight 3D Extremity System that produces high quality diagnostic images, which enables orthopedic specialists to provide diagnostic information that is not available from conventional CT systems.
Key players operating in the global orthopedic medical imaging market include GE Healthcare, Philips Healthcare, Siemens Healthineers, Toshiba Medical Systems Corporation, Hitachi Corporation, EOS Imaging, Planmed OY, Esaote SpA, Carestream Health, and Fujifilm Holdings Corporation.

Marriott Signs Six Hotels in India
Marriott has signed agreements with the Prestige Group to open six new hotels across India. The W Bengaluru, Tribute Portfolio Resort Bengaluru, Tribute Portfolio Hotel Kochi Maradu, JW Marriott Bengaluru Prestige Golfshire Resort & Spa, Moxy Chennai and Moxy Bengaluru, are expected to open between 2021 and 2025. “This agreement marks a new chapter in our plan to expand in India, a critical growth market for Marriott International where we currently have 120 hotels across 16 brands. We are especially thrilled to have signed two Moxy locations – which will introduce our 17th brand in South Asia,” said Rajeev Menon, President, Asia Pacific (excluding Greater China), Marriott International. “By working with experienced hotel developer Prestige Group, we are confident that together we’re poised to change the hospitality landscape in India.”
Set to debut in India, the 125-room Moxy Chennai and 200-room Moxy Bengaluru are both slated to open in 2024. With 185 rooms, the W Bengaluru is expected to open in 2025. The opening is likely to be India’s third W-branded property after W Goa and the anticipated opening of W Mumbai in 2022. The JW Marriott Bengaluru Prestige Golfshire Resort & Spa, a 299-room resort, situated a 20-25-minute drive from the Kempegowda International Airport Bengaluru, is expected to open in 2022. The 102-room Tribute Portfolio Resort Bengaluru is slated to open in 2021, while the 32-room Tribute Portfolio Hotel Kochi Maradu is scheduled to open in 2022. “There are not many industries in the world that have the resilience and optimism of the hospitality sector in India,” said Irfan Razack, Chairman & Managing Director, Prestige Group. “The hotel industry has been one of the primary businesses driving the economic growth of the country. Projected to be worth INR 1,210.87 billion by 2023, the Indian hospitality sector today is witnessing an upward trend across mid-scale, upscale and luxury segments. Renewed interest in the sector from leading global investors and steady infrastructure development in metros as well as top cities are driving the demand. The future holds immense promise.” Together with the Prestige Group, Marriott International launched its 100th hotel in India in 2018 with the opening of the Sheraton Grand Bengaluru Whitefield Hotel & Convention Center. Prestige Group also owns the Aloft Bengaluru Cessna Business Park. See latest Travel News, Interviews, Podcasts and other news regarding: Marriott, India. MHG Signs Two Hotels in Doha, Qatar
Thailand’s Minor Hotels Group has signed a management agreement with a private developer for two new properties in Doha, Qatar. Currently in the pre-opening phase, The Vyra Suites NH Collection Doha is a 228-key serviced apartment property located in West Bay, Doha’s prominent business district hosting much of the city’s most modern infrastructure. Situated amongst a plethora of commercial skyscrapers, large scale mixed-use developments and government entities, the new-build 44-storey property is comprised of 72 one bedroom, 144 two-bedroom, and 12 three-bedroom apartments, as well as a restaurant, coffee shop, gym, indoor swimming pool, kids’ club, teens room, and a number of meeting rooms.
This will be the first NH Collection to launch in the Middle East and the first outside of the brand’s traditional areas of operation in Europe and South America. Additionally, The Plaza Doha Anantara Hotel & Suites (pictured) is under development in the Um Ghuwelina area of the city, approximately 15 minutes’ drive from Hamad International Airport. The 292-key property will feature 118 guest rooms and 174 apartment suites, a large F&B offering which includes multiple dining options and a fully air conditioned courtyard atrium which will be the centrepiece of the property. Other facilities will include a spa and wellness area, a roof top infinity swimming pool and an indoor pool, a kids’ club, gym and an 1,200 square metre ballroom along with six meeting rooms. “We are very excited to announce these two upcoming hotels and to grow and launch our brands in Doha,” said Dillip Rajakarier, CEO Minor Hotels. “The combination of both Anantara and NH Collection, combined with our existing portfolio, will attract a diverse range of travellers and meet the market’s increasing demand for short and long term accommodation.” MHG currently operates 17 properties in the Middle East, including Banana Island Resort Doha by Anantara, three Tivoli properties and one Oaks in Qatar. Globally, the company has a portfolio of 536 hotels and resorts in 55 countries. See latest Travel News, Interviews, Podcasts and other news regarding: MHG, Minor, Doha, Qatar, Anantara, NH.
