Jane doesn’t get out much, what with the fact that she’s spent nearly every waking moment since she was eighteen working to become a successful – and more importantly, financially independent – barrister specializing in human rights and international justice. School and training and exams and papers have left little time nor energy to be spent on the more frivolous habits of some of her peers, such as drinking heavily and stumbling about connected by the mouth to some stranger while “Mr. Brightside” inevitably plays in the background. So on the rare moment when Jane does decide to indulge, it’s usually for some nagging reason that needs immediate forgetting.

Reason number one: that forty-page paper she poured countless hours into, read through dozens of time for errors today alone, and uploaded five minutes before the submission deadline, to feel something like relief mixed with anxious nausea hit the second she hit send.

Reason number two: her mother’s inability to see her as someone who can take care of herself, who is the whip-smart and capable and self-reliant young woman that Frances intentionally raised her to be, who needs a husband about as much as she needs a kick in the head.

Reason number three: some motherfucker named Guildford Dudley.

Six ships and their biggest simps in the relationship.

I’m so making a head canon post or series about this because there is so much to say, but I will do a short version for now and expand on this later cause I love this so effen much!

Btw, I think they are all simps, but I’ll say who is more of a simp in the relationship for these x

Aramour

Aramour is a relationship of two secret simps, they simp for each other behind the scenes and everybody knows it and finds it adorable. The bigger simp would probably be Aragon as Jane is a bit more reserved about her love life (due to some serious trauma and confusion thanks to Henry). Whenever they find out the other is struggling, they do everything they can to make it more comfortable for the other. Aragon is over stressed from work? Jane will text everybody to keep it down so that she can set up a relaxing afternoon for Aragon. Jane is having an anxiety attack? Aragon will take her to a private location to help talk her down, give her some kisses, maybe even a back masage if she is really anxious. Aragon has spent up to 5 hours once calming Jane down in a broom closet. She didn’t even care to think to text the others, she was so focused on helping Jane. She also didn’t care when Anne was teasing her about “probably hooking up with Jane in a closet” at that time. Any sort of embarrassment to her was trivial if it meant helping Jane to her.

Parrlyn

Parrlyn is a relationship of chaotic simps. Like, Anne had a nightmare? Okay, Cathy will let her sleep in her room with her, she hasn’t slept in 3 days anyways so some cuddling would be beneficial for both of them. Some guy hurt Cathy? Well Aragon, Anna, and Jane are now holding Anne back while she curses the guy out, screaming threats in French about how she’ll skin him alive for hurting her future wife. Anne is upset? Time for Cathy to set off some soda and mentos explosions all around the house and then run away when Aragon and Jane chase her. It took Cathy 2 hours to clean the house. Brightside, Anne was laughing her ass off that day and gave Cathy a bunch of kisses afterwards. Anne absolutely adores Cathy, so much so that sometimes she’ll just randomly pick Cathy up out of the blue (either bridal style or slung over her shoulder) and then run around the house screaming about how she has the best Wifey ever. She is just so happy to be with Cathy, and although Cathy is always shocked, she doesn’t mind Anne’s antics. She actually finds them secretly adorable, but Aragon told her she shouldn’t encourage this behavior so Cathy waits until they are alone to thank Anne and give her a million kisses.

Katanna

Katanna is just two dorky soft simps. Kat hates it, but she has to admit Anna is the bigger simp. They both do a bunch for each other, but Anna does twice as much because she is constantly protecting Kat and making sure everything is okay, and it’s the littler things that warms Kat’s heart. Like lending her a hoodie, getting her chocolate when Anna knows she is cranky, making a little signal/code so that whenever Anna hugs Kat from behind her, Kat knows it is Anna and no longer has to feel anxious. Anna would go back and fourth for Kat on any day, and Kat appreciated it so much. While Kat is more of an artsy and goofy simp who creates a bunch of crafts of Anna, or randomly doodles Anna, or writes a song to Anna to woo her later with. Kat also calls Anna Wifey, something she picked up from Anne. They are both just super wholesome and soft and would do anything for each other. Anna and Kat are probably the biggest simp x simp relationship ever, but Anna goes above and beyond and Kat both loves and hates her for it, and she will marry Anna if it is the last thing she ever does.

Most Anticipated May Releases

May is a crazy month. There are so many insane book releases that I’m dying for! So, naturally, I want to talk about them all. Since there are so many, I won’t talk about them too much, but I will include links to their Goodreads pages if you want to learn more!

So here are 16 highly anticipated YA releases of May 2018!

May 1st

A Court of Frost and Starlight by Sarah J. Maas This is probably my most anticipated book of the year (well, this and Throne of Glass 7). If for some reason you haven’t heard of this book, it is a companion novella to the A Court of Thorns and Roses series, which is one of my absolute favorite YA fantasy series that I think everyone should read.

Allied by Amy Tintera The final book in the Ruined series! It’s here and I can’t wait to dive in. This series is full of magic, romance, and action. I absolutely love all of the characters and the world Amy Tintera built, and I’m absolutely terrified to see how this will end (also excited)(but mostly terrified).

The Burning Maze by Rick Riordan This is book 3 in Rick Riordan’s Trials of Apollo series, and I have been purposely putting off reading the first two until this one comes out. Why? Because I don’t trust Rick after The Mark of Athena and I never want another cliffhanger like that again. Although, I guess then I would have to wait until all five are out. But I’m too impatient for that.

Royals by Rachel Hawkins Royals follows Daisy Winters, whose sister is practically engaged to the Crown Prince of Scotland. Unfortunately, due to all the media attention her family is getting, she needs to be taught how to be regal. And naturally, she will be taught by the “dashing” younger Prince. This book seems so fluffy and cute, and I loved Rachel Hawkins’ Rebel Belle series, so I imagine this will be a fun read. 

Brightly Burning by Alexa Donne This is an epic sci-fi that I’ve had described to me as Jane Eyre in space, which seems pretty awesome. While I haven’t read Jane Eyre yet, I’ve really been wanting to. Maybe this release will inspire me to delve into the classic it’s based on.

9 Days and 9 Nights by Katie Cotugno This is the direct sequel to 99 Days by Katie Cotugno. I haven’t read that one yet, so if you’re like me, it may be the perfect time to jump in! However, I do know that Katie writes great contemporary novels, and I personally prefer to jump in knowing nothing. 

Ship It by Britta Lundin Ship It is a novel all about fandom and geek culture, following a 16-year-old fangirl who ends up joining the tour of her favorite tv show. This book also deals with sexuality, so I can’t wait to see some LGBT rep!

Bookish Boyfriends by Tiffany Schmidt This is a lighthearted YA romance about a booknerd, and seems to be the perfect summer read. It also has allusions to Pride and Prejudice, so I’m looking forward to learning more about it.

Puddin’ by Julie Murphy Puddin’ is a companion novel to Julie Murphy’s Dumplin’, following the supporting characters in the months after the first book.

May 15th

War Storm by Victoria Aveyard The day has come! The last book in the Red Queen series is finally here! Red Queen is fairly popular, so I don’t think it’s necessary to write a description of it, or even mention how much I’ve been dying for this book. You know. 

My So-Called Bollywood Life by Nisha Sharma Winnie’s relationship seemed written in the stars... until it falls apart. Now she needs to reclaim control of her story. 

May 22nd

From Twinkle, With Love by Sandha Menon From the author of When Dimple met Rishi, From Twinkle, With Love is a cute contemporary romance about aspiring filmmaker, Twinkle, that I can’t wait to start!

The Brightsiders by Jen Wilde Queens of Geek took me by surprise last year, so of course I have to talk about Jen Wilde’s next novel, The Brightsiders. This book follows the drummer of a hit rock band as she’s labeled the next celebrity trainwreck. And to make it even more interesting, the main character is bi, and there’s a gender-fluid character as well as a nonbinary character! So much LGBT rep!

May 29th

LIKEL1K3 by Jay Kristoff Jay Kristoff has written a sci-fi book that’s been described as Romeo and Juliet meets X-Men meets Mad Max: Fury Road. After reading (and loving) The Illuminae Files, I’m not sure he’s entirely human. He may be part robot. So naturally I have to see what he does next.

Listen To Your Heart by Kasie West Kasie West is the queen of adorable lighthearted contemporary romances. This book follows Katie, an introverted girl who ends up chosen to host her school’s podcast and answer questions and give advice on the air. Knowing Kasie West, this will be an adorable summer read.

Legendary by Stephanie Garber Legendary is the sequel to Caraval, and while I haven’t read Caraval yet, I am so excited to see this book released!

Enseguida, Theo se acomodó a la par de su pelirroja y no dudo en abrazarla por la cintura, ansiando poder tenerla cerca. A Jane le agradó, sobre todo cuando el hombre se inclinó y dejo un corto beso en los labios.

Le gustaba creer que en noches así, el universo y él hacían las paces, todo mientras contemplaban las maravillas que el firmamento les ofrecía. Si bien decían que el universo se encargaba de acomodar las estrellas, pero a Theo le gustaba creer que estás se movían a voluntad propia.

Justo como las estrellas, él y Jane podían forjar su destino como desearan, pues estaban compuestos de la misma materia. Al menos hacía lo veía Theodore y algo le decía que podía confiar en la pelirroja, convirtiéndola en la primera y única persona en acompañarlo al desierto.
