watching lewis itv is wild bc in a reversal of the stereotypical sherlock/watson dynamic, the main detective is a normie with good social skills and regular hobbies and it’s the sidekick who is an insane autistic bisexual failed catholic priest with childhood trauma.

DS Hathaway: “Struggle with depression” would seem to imply that I am bad at being depressed when I am, in fact, very proficient at being depressed.

So I'm re-watching the Morseverse. 

And I know we always like to ponder on how  the two intellectual outsiders, Morse and Hathaway could have bonded if given the chance.

But.. And it's only ever implied with Hathaway… But it struck me today how much Peter Jakes and James Hathaway might share. Their respective upbringings at Crevecoeur Hall and Blenheim Vale and how it shaped their characters as adults.  In Jakes, Hathaway could have found empathy and guidance. It's such a shame the two generations never got to meet. 

(On a lighter note, you just know Peter would have loved Robbie.)
