What's something you always wanted to write into your Eleutherophobia fic that you just never had a spot for?
David. Love him as a character, even if I hate him as a person. But if I were to put him in the series, then:
This'd presumably have to involve him making some kind of deal with Crayak. And I don't want Crayak or the Ellimist in my fic.
The consequences for everyone's reputation would be massive and catastrophic. At minimum Rachel would get canceled by the internet. At maximum, the idea of charging all six kids with war crimes would suddenly be back on the table.
I have no idea what I'd do with him after the first scene or two of him interacting with the Berensons. Killing him would be inexcusable. But if he lives, he's going to do everything from rob banks to stalk Rachel to charge Jake with attempted murder.
Either he's no threat at all (because he's still stuck as a rat) or he's a life-ruining level of threat (because he's not stuck as a rat) to Jake. There is no in-between.
That said, I'd dearly love for him to interact with Tom at some point. Just long enough for them to get into a snake-measuring contest. And then for them both to discover that king cobras aren't cobras; king cobras are called that because they eat cobras.

Hi, I was thinking Jacob Black x Reader. Where Jacob was waiting for Reader to come out of school till he heard commotion in front of the school and saw Reader fighting a bully who is a guy. She has a bruised lip and bleeding nose. Jacob hurriedly pick up Reader and take her to Emily’s so she can chill out and so Emily can patch her up. The pack saw her and they started asking questions till Emily started lecturing her.
Jealousy and Pack Scolding's
Tumblr media
Pairing: Jacob Black x Uley!reader
Characters: Jacob Black, Uley!reader, Paul Lahote, Jared Cameron, Embry Call, Leah Clearwater, Seth Clearwater, Quil Ateara V, Brady Fuller, Collin Littlesea
Warnings: Angst, fluff, Paul being an idiot, Sam not liking the imprinting, this was actually kind of cute, I think I made Jake a likable character (for me), Emily is an angel, Sam and Emily are my fav, reader has avoided making eye contact with Jake bc she has a crush, Sam knows whats up, Embry just wants his imprint, Paul is such a big brother here, love writing for the wolfpack, it's so much fun, reader knows about imprints
Word Count: 2,431
A/N: Ask and you shall receive... this was fun and totally not inspired by Jake fics where he's a little jealous shit
I've aged probably everyone sooo, Sam is 26, Emily is 25. Leah is 23. Jared and Paul are 19 (in a nearby community college) and just one semester from graduating. Jake, Reader and Embry are 18. Quil, Seth, Brody are 17. Cam and Seth are 16
------------------------------------------------------------------------------
He kicks his bike stand up, so it stays upright while he waits for you to exit the school. He crosses his arms, not wanting anyone to talk to him, hoping he looks “menacing” enough for his classmates to get the hint and steer clear of him.
He knows Quil and Embry made their way back to Emily's since Sam wants them to do their patrol shift as soon as they can once they finished with their last class.
He couldn't complain much considering he was able to go home and change before heading back to pick you up so he could successfully switch shifts with Embry, which annoys him since Sam basically ordered him to pick you up.
He’d be more okay with it if you two were friends- or even talking; he doesn’t know why he was put to the job since you two aren’t close- or at least, compared to Jared and Paul.
Jake did recently find out (after complaining to the guys when their alpha wasn’t around) you’re Sam's niece and Emily has taken a light to you, thinking of you as her own daughter.
And the only reason he thinks that is because of how she treats you; it always reminds him of the way his mom took care of him and his sisters when they were younger.
Don't get him wrong, he has no problem with that or the way she treats you, he's more curious than anything since you haven't been talking to him.
It kind of bugs him that you talk to Paul and Jared more than him and isn't sure why. He gets the two shifted before everyone, but you've started talking to Embry and Quil so why not him too? Hell, you’ve even started making small talk with the newest shifters Brady and Collin.
He thinks this is why Sam sent him here, so he'll stop moping around about you and not just because the pack is tired of hearing how sad he is with you not talking to him.
The chanting, "fight, fight, fight," overtakes his sense in waiting for you and he steps closer.
He stops behind the wall of people, checking on who's fighting, curious as to who's stupid enough to fight on school property.
The fist flies to your face and he starts fighting his way to get past the people blocking him from getting to you.
You spit, not wanting the copper taste to remain in your mouth. You turn your head back to David, not wanting to give him the satisfaction of feeling like he won.
You kick his upper thigh, right above his knee and knock him down before pulling your arm back and drive your fist as hard as you can into his cheek.
He falls and cups his cheek, whining about the pain and the fact that he's bleeding.
"Talk about my family again and you'll be bleeding more."
Jacob finally breaks through the crowd and pushes David's friend away before the guy could grab you. "Back off," he growls.
The friend raises his hands in defense and backs away, noticing how buff he'd gotten and knows better to not fight Jacob.
He turns to you, smelling blood on you and cups your face, searching to find the damage, ignoring your eyes as the blood from your lip drips further down your chin. "Come on."
He puts you on the back of his bike and starts it before kicking the kickstand.
-
You unwrap your arms and get off the bike, trying to put distance between you, Jacob, and your home.
He grabs your wrist, "where do you think you're going?"
"Away."
"Just because you want to hide your face from Emily and Sam, doesn't mean you can run away."
"I can still try." You tug on his arm. "Let me go."
"No, you need to go in there and face them."
You stop fighting and he lets go of you, trusting that you won't leave. "I don't want Sam to be disappointed."
"Did you pick a fight with David on purpose?"
You shake your head, "of course not."
"Then he won't be disappointed... as long as you talk to him."
"Says the guy who fights him every chance he gets."
That earns a chuckle from Jake. "Says the mousy niece."
You scoff, shoving his arm. "Hey, I'm not mousy."
"This is the longest conversation we've ever had."
"That's your fault, you're always mopey."
"I am not."
"Are so."
"Am-"
-
You walk through the door.
Emily's voice interrupts yours and everyone else's conversations. "I'm happy to see the two of you are talking." She smiles with a twinkle shining in her eye that quickly dies as soon as she catches sight of your face.
"Oh my- what the hell happened to you?" She grabs your chin, tilting so she can look at your face. "Who did this?"
Paul tenses, Jared tries to see over her shoulder.
Embry and Quil walk through the back door and glance at one another with concern evident on their faces once they realize what’s happened.
"Don't tell, Sam," you reply, staring into her eyes, practically begging her not to tell him.
"Don't tell me what?"
You grimace and then wince because your adrenaline has worn off and the pain has surfaced. "How much I love you?" You say without turning.
"I don't buy it." He wraps an arm around Emily, pecking her cheek. "Did you cut your finger again?" He asks with the scent of blood wafting through the room.
"Uh-" She catches your eye as she glances down at her hands. "Maybe, I don't know."
You attempt to sneak away while he's distracted and fail.
"Turn around."
You pout, keeping your head low as you turn.
"Lift your head."
"I like staring at my shoes while they're clean."
He grumbles your name under his breath.
You lift your head and sigh. "I may have gotten into an altercation at school."
"What the hell happened?"
"That's what I was asking before you got here?" Emily chimes in.
"And I was avoiding it then."
"What did you do?"
You scoff, "I didn't do anything, you dick."
"That is no way to talk to your uncle," she tells you.
You stare at her, "I'm going to give him the same respect he gives me," and turn to him. "Which is none."
You exit the room when you realize none of you are going to be able to have a proper conversation and make your way to your room, slamming the door behind you.
-
"What happened while you were waiting for her?" Sam towers over Jacob, attempting to search through his mind to figure out what could have happened.
"I don't- I don't know. I was waiting and then I heard the other kids chanting, fight and then I saw her get hit and then take down David-"
"Wait- she was fighting David?" Jared chimes in with a smile.
"He deserves it," Paul adds.
"Guys a grade A asshole," Embry says before snacking on a muffin.
"So, this fight was valid?" Sam asks, wanting to understand everything he's learned within the last five minutes.
"No, it wasn't valid because fighting isn't the solution, is it boys?" Emily turns to the boys at the table.
"No," everyone answers.
"Good," she smiles.
"But this hasn't happened before? What's happened? This David- or whoever clearly said something for her to act out."
"He was talking about my family," you tell them, leaning against the wall with your arms crossed.
"That doesn't give you enough reason to fight," she tells you.
"It does when they start making fun of your dead parents and uncle who's running a cult."
They purse their lips.
"How do you feel?"
You shrug, "my fist and face are aching, so I'd say I did something right."
She sighs. "Fighting isn't the answer."
"I know that!"
"Then why did you do it?"
Your emotions cause you to snap. "I was tired of him thinking he could still bully me!"
She takes a few steps closer to you. "This has been going on for a while now. Why didn't you tell us?"
"I didn't want either of you to walk into the principal's office thinking you could stop it when it'd only make things worse," you grumble.
"We could have found another way to stop him from making comments."
"I took care of it the only way I could."
"There's always more than one way-"
"I know," you run your fingers through your hair in a frustrated manner. "I wasn't thinking but he wouldn't shut up. He waited a few months, giving me a grievance period but then he started talking shit again and today he wouldn't leave me alone."
"Why didn't you tell us?" Jared asks.
"Yeah," you scoff, "because I wanted you guys to help when the hothead is one fight away from being expelled. Everyone still thinks those two," you point to Embry and Quil. "Are weird because they suddenly got buff and had a haircut. Don't even mention the fact that Jake along with Brady and Collin are the new talk of the pack."
Sam sighs, rubbing a hand over his face. "Just, go clean the blood off as best you can, and Emily will wrap your wounds."
"I already did."
"Then go get the first aid kit and bring it in here."
You walk back into the bathroom throwing everything you’d laid out on the counter back into the bag and aim for the kitchen. "Heal me with your magical powers, Em."
She smiles and wraps an arm around your shoulders as she guides you to the island so she can use the natural light to check over you. "Does this hurt?"
"Not yet."
"Okay, let me know when it-"
You suck in a deep breath through your teeth.
"Hurts. You okay?"
"Peachy, Em."
"I know you had to defend yourself today, but fighting isn't always the answer."
"Yeah, I know," you reply with an attitude.
"I'm just reminding you, so you don't continue hurting yourself. You're not like the others, and I don't like seeing you get hurt."
"Thanks, Emily," you wrap your arms around her and pull her in for a long hug.
She smiles, returning the hug. "Don't go getting into fights again or else I'm going to bubble wrap you."
You chuckle. "As long as you save me from a Sam lecture."
"Deal." She slides the plate with muffins, closer to you. "Eat something first."
The guys shake their heads at your behavior.
"Does this mean I can hang out with you guys?"
"You hang out with us already," Jacob points out.
"Cliff diving." You unwrap your muffin.
"Absolutely not," your uncle tells you.
"Come on."
"No,” Sam shakes his head.
"Guys," you beg, turning around to look at the others.
"We're not getting involved in that," Paul raises his hands, heading towards the couch.
- Extra -
"Wha-"
"I'm with Paul," Embry tells you, pulling Quil with him as they sit beside Jared.
You turn to face your knight in shining armor. “Jake-”
He turns away from the others and glances back at you, the humor falling from his face.
“Oh, shit,” Jared mutters.
“Are you serious?” Embry whines.
You owlishly blink trying to figure out what’s happened when he falls to his knees. You set your muffin down and push yourself off the stool to stand in front of him. You poke his shoulder. “Are you okay?”
“It’s you,” he mutters.
You raise your head and face the others with a scared and confused expression. “Guys, what the hell just happened?”
Paul smirks and looks away.
Jared buries his face with a muffin.
Embry and Quil face the tv, not wanting to see how things plays out.
Brady and Collin walk through the door.
“Holy shit,” the former says.
“Congrats, Jake. You finally got your imprint,” the latter adds.
“What?” You spin around to face Emily. “Imprint? That’s what just happened?”
Sam rubs a hand over his face. This was the last thing they needed.
“Did we- did you not know?” Brady asks you.
“Does this look like the face of someone who’s in the know? Does it. Brady?”
Collin pulls his buddy away before you can rip their heads off.
“I think we need to talk,” Sam says, pulling Jacob off the ground. “Outside.”
You three stand on the porch, trying to wrap your heads around the whole situation.
-
“I don’t know what this means,” you tell them.
“This means, no being alone in your room. No sneaking out after curfew. No-”
“Sam, we’re not dating. This doesn’t apply to us.”
“It could,” he says, finally snapping out of his mind.
“What?”
“It- the imprint bond doesn’t happen by accident, it’s the joining of when two soulmates find each other.”
“So, we’re soulmates?”
He nods.
“I thought you were in love with Bella?”
“I was.”
“And now you’re not? You couldn’t have moved on that fast just because of this bond.”
He sighs, “I know this is going to be a lot of work, but I want to get to know you whether we go out or not… even though dating you-”
The clearing of someone’s throat cuts him off.
He sheepishly smiles, rubbing the back of his head. “We’ll talk more later.”
You can’t help but giggle and wince soon after.
He’s kneeling in front of you in seconds, searching for any sign of pain. “Are you okay?”
“I’m fine. My lip is going to be the kill joy of my existence for a few days but I’m fine.” You place a hand on his shoulder, “thanks for pulling me out of there when you did.”
He shakes his head, “it was nothing.”
“It was more than you know, and I know you were only there because Uncle Sam made you, but I still wanted to thank you.”
He can’t help the wide smile that stretches across his lips. “I’ll always be there for you.”
-
Sam throws you over his shoulder. “Babe, where’s the extra wood I keep for the winter?”
“Back room, why?” She asks, watching as you beat on his back.
“I’m locking some doors.”
“Sam, no!” You screech. “Boys, help me.”
“He’s the alpha, what he says go,” Paul tells you.
“You suck, Lahote.”
“You’re gonna be swallowing, princess.”
Paul has never shifted and ran out of his alpha’s place as quickly as he did today.
The others lose their minds as he runs all around, nearly bumping into the clearwater siblings as they head towards the place.

Come Kiss Me and Bite Me
Jake Sim x Male Reader
Tumblr media Tumblr media Tumblr media
cw: top jake, body worshiping, marking, semi-public sex, sweaty sex, in the gym, cum swallowing, protected sex, musk kink, blowjob, fingering, mutual masturbation.
“okay, two more squats and we're done” jake, yn's personal trainer, try to encourage him to finish his set of exercises. today he was exercising his legs so jake took the opportunity to stare and secretly touch his ass with the excuse of “”correcting his posture””.
as jake trained yn his curiosity increased, especially when he saw that juicy ass. the trainer fantasized about fucking him in the gym showers or having wet dreams with him.
“thanks for today jake” yn said wiping the sweat with a towel, “it was very though” he snickered. “it’s okay yn, you did well today” he pauses to drink water “see you tomorrow then”. “yeah, i can wait to start looking like you, with those defined muscles and abs” yn commented, seeing that tight black tank top on him that is showing his erect nipples. “hmmm? do you like my body that much boy?” an idea appearing on jake’s mind, “you can touch them if you want” a cocky smirk plastered on his handsome face.
yn did as he was told, his hands tracing every defined muscle on jake’s body, his arms, his chest, his abs, hell even his legs. when he was checking the latter something caught his eyes, “oh shit you almost poke my eye with that” yn jokes signaling at his trainer’s bulge. both laughed but from jake’s perspective it looked like his dick was on top of yn’s face, something that made him hornier and his bulge bigger. yn kept praising jake, his finger tracing every defined muscle leaving a burning trail sensation on him. “you're touch is so…” jake spoke the thoughts clouding his mind making him incapable of finishing his line. “so what?” yn looked at him with hooded eyes, the pre-cum smell that was leaking from hake's tip hitting him. and as if he was a cat yn caressed the other's bulge with his face, taking in deep breaths of that musky masculine scent.
yn pulled down jake's shorts and underwear, the latter sat on one of the benches spreading his legs so yn can have more space to do wonders with his tongue.
yn attacked jake's shaft roughly, he was hungry for that dick, he didn't wait a second to put it all inside his throat, deepthroating it and spitting the tick saliva on top of it emitting some squelching sounds. while the shaft was inside his mouth, his tongue rubbing the underside of it. “you really know how to work that damn tongue” jake heaved, the pleasure causing him to roll his eyes, whimpers, grunts and swear words coming out of his pretty mouth.
jake grabbed the edges of the bench so hard that his knuckles turned white, he was trying so hard to hold back his load, wanting to give it to yn later but failed at the attempt. his seed went down yn's throat who swallowed it happily, “so sweet” he blurted out.
yn sat on top of jake who puts his dick in between yn's ass cheeks, then with his two hands grabbed each one to squeeze them tight and rubbed his dick in between them, “oh yn, i'm loving this” he murmurs, beads of sweat building on his forehead causing his hair to stick on it making him look hotter. “put it in already jake~” yn loved the feeling of that warm meat on his body leaving his sticky pre-cum mixed with lube and sweat smeared on his ass but he wanted more, he wanted to feel it inside, opening his walls, drilling his way up as deep as it can, filling him up with his manly sperm. “please~” he slurred. he was needy. “mmm are you that desperate for me?” jake jokingly asked. “yeah, please please give it to me” yn begged.
the top put a condom on his shaft and slap it on the bottom's hole. wanting to rile him more, jake put his tip on the hole, slowly introducing it until it was all inside. yn clenched on it as a way to say that he wanted more than the tip. jake pulled it out and did the same again, just the tip inside. yn's eyes were watery, tears threatening to fall down. his pleas were not heared. jake just did as he pleased, continuing to fuck him just with his tip.
yn became a mess, moaning, sweating, body completely flushed and trembling legs. he rested his face on the bench but managed to keep his ass up. jake leaned on top of him and whispered on his ear “look at you, all fucked up and just with my tip. i can't imagine how it would be with all of it inside you” as he finished the phrase he impaled all his meat on yn. he let out a guttural moan, tears rolled down his reddish cheeks, “what the fuck” he cried. jake's thick shaft reaches deep inside, opening him up. “you're gonna rip me apart” yn heaved, trying to get accustomed to the feeling. “that's the idea”.
something about jake was so sensual, his toned body, his lip bites, his facial expressions. man knew how to use his sexyness in his favor.
the top keep drilling yn’s ass, who was with his face still pressed against the bench, mouth open and a pool of drool forming there. “jake h-harder” he murmured. the skin slapping sounds became louder and louder every second. jake not having mercy with the poor man’s ass. once in a while jake pulls out to watch yn’s hole clenching on nothing and then spitting on it to see how it goes down his insides. his eyes filled with lust and a fucking low kinda quite laugh that would melt everyone who heard it.
in a missionary position now yn could appreciate jake’s body more, how his abs contract and relax with each thrust. his body glistening due to the sweat. yn punched jake’s chest with his fists seeing how hard and firm they were, “fuck! i can finally die in peace after seeing you like this” yn said, already cockdrunked. “don't die. i want to keep using you” jake whispered while hugging yn and speeding up his pace.
yn scratched jake’s thrust, the red marks on his back burning thanks to the sweat but jake liked the sensation. “my turn now” jake said and attacked yn's neck, that was like a canvas for him to decorate it with bite marks and hickeys “you look prettier like this”. the sex was so wild and primal that the bench started moving as if it was going to break. they gave in to their carnal desires not caring about anything else. they just wanted to feel each other. “fuck i'm gonna cum” jake said pulling out and discarding the latex. he grabbed both his dick and yn's to jerk off “let's cum together” he purred. they came, both dick spurting cum that landed on yn's chest and torso. some of it even reaching his chin and lips that he obviously licked and hummed, pointing out how delicious it was…
the days continued as if nothing happened between them, everyone who saw them would think it's just a normal relationship between a trainer and trainee, little did they know that jake's training included more than yn’s arms, torso or legs. every night after the gym closes jake trains yn's hole so he can learn how to take dick in all the ways possible.

american boys hate to lose.
Tumblr media
jake seresin x reader (wc: 6.2k)
summary: you finally get a taste of Jake Seresin, but you may have bit off more than you can chew
warnings: 18+ smut, heavy sexual themes, lack of use of condoms
author’s note: part 2 of ‘don’t write check you can’t cash’ is here! i would highly recommend reading that before this but do with that what you will. dare i say there will be a part 3?
(you can read part 1 here!)
————————————————————————
You can feel his eyes on you, burning into the back of your head, daring you to turn around and meet his gaze. You haven't so much as looked back in his direction since the training meeting started but you know he's there and you know that he's looking at you.
If you were more reasonable, you'd write it off as the residual heat of the evening seeping in through the window of the ready room being cast upon the back of your neck, warming your skin with it's golden orange hue. Such a feeling would render you lazy and cat-like, content enough to slouch in your chair and soak up the rays until only the ending of the meeting would force you to move from your state of tranquility.
Instead you sit up right in your chair, rigid and uncomfortable as your skin buzzes feverishly.
It's the same scrutinizing feeling that you felt that day out on the tarmac and the same one that you felt as he stood back and watch you play pool at the Hard Deck.
It's ridiculous it what it really is, the fact that you're not grown up enough to just turn around and ask him what the fuck his problem is. He's the one who very clearly laid down the law. He has no right to test your strength to adhere to it.
And tested you he has.
Jake's been at your throat all week. It was almost as though he had decided that he couldn't have you and therefore he would hate you enough to make up for it.
"Had enough, Lieutenant?"
From your limited line of sight—face down in the position of a push-up—all you can see are the scuffed toes of his tan combat boots. He's crouched down on the pavement, balanced on the balls of his feet, leaning down beside you so that he's inches from your ear.
Not yet ready to answer him, all you can do is huff under the strain of your screaming muscles, which are about fifty push-ups past fatigued. You can hear the uncomfortable murmurs of the rest of the Dagger squad watching yours and Jake's show down from a distance.
He'd been a bitch all day. Nagging, nitpicking, critiquing every little thing you did both in and out of the air. Finally, you had had enough.
"I said, have you had enough, Lieutenant!?"
His voice was so familiar and yet utterly foreign in the moment. It caused that twisting feeling in the pit of your stomach to return, the one that you didn't know what to make of. As if you couldn't decided whether you were pleased at his attention or fed up with his attitude.
Gasping, you swallow a glob of spit in your throat, trying to pull yourself together. You're not sure how much longer you can hold this position before you physically collapse. A groan escapes you unwillingly.
"As soon as you say you've had enough, you can get up. Until then, I've got all day."
You could feel the tension in the air between the two of you. It had been building steadily for the entirety of the day and this altercation had appeared to be its breaking point.
You stare at the ground, hoping he will take your silence as an answer.
A part of you was glad that you couldn't see his face and he could't see yours. It's hard to look him in the eyes sometimes.
Bradley must notice your agitation because he cocks you a questioning a brow when you finally catch his eye, having been viciously chewing on your pen into order satiate your frustration whilst listening to Maverick give his brief. You wave off his concern with a dismissive flick of your hand, as if to indicate that it's nothing for him to worry about.
You doubt he's convinced but he doesn't push you any further. If he thought Jake was bothering you, he'd be out of his chair and across the room in a matter of seconds. You don't know how you would explain to him that you haven't been able to forget the press of Jake's body against yours at the pool table or the way his voice dripped down and seeped into your spine even as he yelled at you.
The sound of papers flipping and notebooks closing draw you back to the present.
"You're dismissed. Your report time is at o'six hundred tomorrow," Maverick states, bringing the meeting to a close.
Your eyes dart to the clock mounted on the wall, unaware that the time had eluded you so quickly. You're evidently so distracted that Rooster's already gone by the time you gather up your things. Something about a hot date, he'd said.
Glad to finally escape the tension that is this room, you can already feel the ease flooding back into your body, that prickling feeling of dread and restlessness finally leaving your skin as you reach for the door. Instantly the world feels a little brighter, like maybe you'll even brave the evening traffic just to take the scenic route home, roll your windows down so that you can hear the waves breaking on the beach and smell the salt air.
A voice jerks you from your day dream, and immediately you're reminded of just the reason for your foul mood.
"You know, you're a bigger thorn in my side than I thought you were going to be."
You stop just outside the doorframe and the door swings shut. There's no one but the two of you left in the room.
"Is that your way of saying that you're not used to people not letting you push them around?
"I'm saying most people don't enjoy being yelled at."
His green eyes twinkle and his mouth pulls into a smirk that dares you to challenge his statement.
You swallow the spit in your throat, biting your tongue because you know that your argument won't come out convincing enough.
"You were being a bitch," you say instead.
"You wanted me to be."
"That's all I can seem to get from you."
Rather than the snarky reply that you've already braced yourself for, Jake takes two steps towards you and immediately you shuffle backwards, meeting the wall in the process. With nowhere to go, you have no choice but to remain trapped between him and the wall of the room.
Now cornered, he is dangerously close.
A sharp but smokey musk stings your sinuses— one that will become synonymous to you with his presence. The stench of jet fuel makes you lightheaded for just a moment before you snap back to the present.
His sharp green eyes narrow down at you. Your face feels hot under his gaze. Eye contact is becoming a common theme for the two of you. You can't look away.
He is close. Very close. In retrospect, he has never had any concept of personal space. Since the day you met Jake, you have always been somewhat off-put if not startled by his forwardness. The way he had reached out to correct your posture at the pool table without prior warning nor consent had nearly killed you.
He was going to kill you.
Hardly breathing, you take him in with a certain clarity. You haven't been able to put your finger on it, but his face has a certain rawness to it — a natural ruddiness that you can't explain. The waterlines of his green eyes are invariably tinged a pale pink, likely permanently wind burnt, and his nose is always a touch red. Early traces of crows feet pull at the corners of his usually hooded green eyes. Speaking of, now you realize they're not even all that green. The soft golden tint becomes apparent looking into his eyes. If it weren't for their undeniable vibrance, maybe you would be able to breathe right now.
Your attention falls down to his plump pink lips. And maybe those. They shine with a particular wetness, and your cheeks burn with the thought.
His hand lifts from his side and immediately your eyes fly back up to meet his gaze, praying he hasn't caught you staring. Instead he curls his fingers into the side of your jaw and stares at you with that infuriatingly unreadable expression on his face. You wish that for just once in his life he'd express some sort of overt emotion. He doesn't speak, and all you can do is swallow against the press of his thumb.
Your mouth parts slightly, attempting to speak, to say something —anything to alleviate the silence— but nothing escapes besides a noiseless breath of air.
Jake dips his head down timidly, as though he's testing the waters.
Unable to comprehend what he's doing, your first reflex is to replenish the distance between you, and your head jerks backwards. However, it is forced to come to a stop when it hits the wall a millisecond later.
Jake pauses, mouth inches from yours.
Despite the panic that is threatening to take control of you, telling you to push him away, to tell him to stop because this is entirely wrong, you do nothing but stand frozen. Your heart is in your throat, pounding hard enough to stall your breath.
I want this if you want this, but not if you don't, you want to tell him. I will find a way to go on if you don't.
The muscles in his jaw clench, like he's trying hard to make up his mind.
And then without warning, his mouth captures your lips in a hard kiss, driving them open with the force of it. Gone is his previous hesitation. He is voracious; all tongue and teeth. You swear you feel the wall rattle against your back as he pushes you against it.
The thought that anyone could walk in at any moment hardly even flashes through your mind. All there is is the bruising force of his mouth on yours, pulling you further and further into the inescapable depths of desire.
Your hand finds the short crop of his blonde hair and fists into it, tugging roughly on the golden strands. It makes him grunt, the noise muffled by the press of his lips against yours. Jake's hands find your hips, his fingers tearing at the fabric of your flight suit to bring you closer to his body.
When your lips part to breathe, he licks into your mouth, tongue dragging along the slick of your teeth just so that he can taste you. Like he's been just as desperate to taste you as you've been. One of his hands finds the length of your throat and wraps around it, using his thumb to tip your jaw back up so that he can capture your lips in another bruising kiss.
Your need for air forces you to place a hand on his chest, pushing him away hard enough that he gets the hint. It takes more force than it should, and Jake pulls away, breathing hard.
As your senses come back to you, so does your common sense, and all you can think is: there's no way that just happened.
The sight of his flushed cheeks, blown pupils, and swollen, spit slick lips is what kicks you into gear. Anyone could walk in here at any moment. You can't even begin to explain how bad of a situation that could be.
"We should go," you breathe, heart still pounding in your chest.
Rather than pulling away, Jake lingers, hovering over you. "Go where?" he hums. "I've got you right where I want you." His mouth dips down to the barely exposed part of your collar. You swallow thickly as his mouth moves up to your neck, lip pressing to your exposed throat.
"Really," you stress, a bit desperately, your eyes darting to the closed door as he kisses up your neck. "We can't stay here."
To your immense relief, Jake finally pulls away.
"Okay," he agrees, a bit too easily. "I'll bring you home."
——
The car ride is strange but not uncomfortable. Strange because you keep looking over to your left and Jake is sitting there, one hand on the wheel, aviators perched on his nose as he watches the road. Strange because he doesn't ask you for directions, just drives in comfortable silence, the radio turned low enough that you can still hear the gulls squawking as you drive by the beach.
You turn to look at him as he pulls the truck to a stop and reaches for the keys to turn off the ignition. He's smiling and doing a poor job of concealing it.
"I didn't invite you in," you inform him, although your voice doesn't sound too firm in the statement. You'd been so sure that you wanted this back when he was kissing you, but now that the aftermath of your decision is playing out, you're nervous you're making a mistake.
You'd known that anything involving Jake was a risky game from day one. Between his looks and the all-American southern boy charm, it was a dangerous combination. There's a difference between wanting the idea of something and actually having it.
Jake just huffs, his smile still nonchalant as he looks over at you. "I can't walk you to the door?"
You can feel your stomach twisting again. "I suppose."
Your fingers feel numb and tingly as you push the key into the lock on the door and twist, your heart a bit in your throat because you're all to aware of Jake standing less than a foot behind you. It takes you a few shaky tries but the door finally cracks open.
Realizing that you can't avoid the inevitable any longer, you turn back around to face Jake. He's leant against the side of the doorframe, arms crossed in front of his chest and looking not at all like he isn't supposed to be here.
You stare and him and he stares back at you.
Without a word, he steps forward, into your space, and leans down with the intention to kiss you. Your stomach twists tighter than it was before. You turn your head before he can kiss you, and you feel his lips brush your cheek.
"You can come inside. I- I just need a moment," you confess. "Maybe a glass of wine or two."
Jake chuckles as he draws away, giving you the space that you silently asked for, and for that you're grateful.
"Okay," he concedes. "Lead the way, then."Once inside, you set your things down and escape for the moment of space that you need to clear your head under the pretense of needing a shower. It's not totally untrue. The day had been busy, more so than usual, and you were still sticky with sweat. You leave Jake in the kitchen to find the wine on his own.
While the tub fills, you're finally able to rid yourself of the clothes that you have been donning since the day began at roughly 6 am. Though you're usually a shower person, you've learned a bath is the most effective way get rid of the stress of the day.
The scalding water welcomes you and a sigh escapes your mouth when you sink down to your shoulders. The basin is deep enough that it could fit two people comfortably. You unpleasantly note that that's a thought you've never had until now.
The steam releases the tension from your shoulders and eases your persistent headache. Although you are well aware that Jake is just a few rooms away in the kitchen, the urge to close your eyes and sink in is too much to resist.
He had leaned in first. Backed you against the wall of the ready room and hovered inches from your face. There had been an out. It was brief, but it had been there. And you just stood there, barely breathing, watching him. You had seen the gun in his hands and willed him to use it.
His mouth was just as hot and demanding as you had come to know him. You remember breathing in and all you could smell was him, feel his hand on your jaw, his fingers digging into your skin. He had been the one to pull away, although just barely, and hovered inches from your face once again.
Being so close to him, it was the first time you had noticed the gold in his jade green eyes. From a distance, they were a stark green, but your new found proximity told a different story. You have not been able to see them as anything other than that obscure green ever since.
You break the water's surface and draw in a deep breath, smoothing your wet hair away from your face.
"I was beginning to think you weren't going to come back up." Jake is leaning against the open door frame, his arms crossed in front of his chest.
You hum, blinking the dripping water away. "Sorry," you murmur, although you don't know what you're apologizing for. He could do that, draw apologies from your mouth even when you had done nothing worthy of forgiveness.
He sighs and moves across the bathroom with languid familiarity, and you have to remind yourself that this is real. It is a strange concept to grasp, seeing him here, in your house. It's surreal to you, the thought that he exists beyond the base and is so domestic.
"Wasn't looking for an apology, kid. Just came to bring you some wine." He produces a glass that you failed to notice originally and sets it on the ground next to him, crouching down beside the tub. One of his hands dips in to swirl the water with the tip of his finger.
Though he doesn't stare, you are keenly aware that he can surely see more than just your naked shoulders through the clear bath water. Strangely, you don't flush at the thought.
His chin comes to rest on the edge of the tub, and his green eyes watch you with a curious guile. It is a look that you have come to enjoy for its fleeting but ensuring familiarity.
You sink back into the tub, feeling the tickle of the water as it laps at the nape of your neck. "You just wanted an excuse to look."
The corner of his mouth quirks faintly upwards. "I'll take what I can get."
As you watch each other, you come to the realization that you could want this. This moment. This life. Him.
For a glimmer of a second, you see yourself making dinner, a green eyed toddler balanced on your hip. The dog he didn't want barks at the front door as his truck pulls into the driveway. He finally walks into the kitchen after a long day in the air and wraps himself around you from behind—
Jake wiggles his fingers in the water, disrupting the calm surface of it.
"Get in," you invite him. It's a well intended, genuine proposition, and one you see no problem with. After your breach of professionalism in the hangar, sharing a bath seemed to rank decently low on the scale of scandal.
"No," he huffs, dismissing the idea, but his eyes twinkle, at least humoring you in his refusal.
Not allowing yourself the be disappointed with his answer, you let your cheek rest against the rim of the tub with a wistful smile. "Should I get out then?"
His fingers brush the inside of your knee and ghost down your calf. "No," he says again. "I like you like this."
Naked. Exposed. Relenting.
You smile at each other with your lips pressed together to convey what the two of you won't say out loud. Something inside you knows he won't be this way tomorrow. He won't share this same look with you, won't be this gentle or tangible again.
His hand curls around your ankle, his thumb working into a particularly tender spot. You wince, a hiss escaping through your teeth as you refrain from jerking your foot away from his digging fingers. It hurts at first, the rough massaging of his fingers into the muscle, but the discomfort dissipates when he draws your foot up and places a delicate kiss to the arch. You feel your cheeks warm. His green eyes linger on you.
"We should talk," you murmur softly.
"About?" he hums coyly, pressing another tender kiss to your ankle. The hot trail of his lips lingers on your skin.
Getting him to talk has been like pulling teeth, and it's obvious that's not about to change now.
As much as you want to remain here with his lips pressed to your skin for forever, you sit up in the water to face him, and he pliantly releases your ankle back into the bath. Without saying anything, you lean forward and search his eyes for any sort of sign of what all this is about, wondering if it's some sort of sick joke and he's just fucking around with you.
His green eyes do nothing but watch you keenly, his eyebrow quirking as he stares back at you. What exactly you're looking for, you don't know. You want to ask him what the hell you're doing here, sitting in your bathroom, too close to be considered professional, but all you can do is stare and listen to the sound of his breathing.
Your bodies have drifted closer to each other during the process, only separated by the rim of the bathtub. Your faces mere inches from each other, he tips his chin up and your noses brush. You can feel the hovering warmth of his lips over your own. The exhale that escapes you is shaky and surely he hears it. Jake's gaze dips to your parted lips and then flickers back up. With more care than you would have imagined him capable of, he presses his mouth to yours.
This kiss is more hesitant than the first, softer and more timid than anything. His lips are pillowy, and you have to shove down the urge to take the plump pout of his bottom lip between your teeth. A wanting ache pools into your stomach. It is the second time that you've known the hot pulse of his mouth and basked in the taste of him.
All too soon, he pulls away, but nevertheless, you're breathless, still trying to comprehend it all. There are a lot of conflicting emotions racing through you, and you're not sure of which ones to trust. A part of you knows this isn't right. He's both a coworker and a friend — not to mention nearly ten years your senior.
But he's smiling at you with those beguiling green eyes, and you're learning that very little matters when he looks at you like that.
The towel you wrap around yourself serves little purpose because as soon as you step out of the tub, Jake is crowding you out of the bathroom and into the bedroom.
He pays little heed to your insistence that he'll slip on the wet floor in his socks, instead choosing to kiss along your bare shoulder, mindless to where you're going. The two of you hit the wall before you make it anywhere else so he traps your body with his and connects your lips again.
He licks into your mouth, tasting you with an assured vigor. Using the leverage of your position against the wall, the next kiss is harder, trapping you between his body and the plaster. You have to remind yourself to keep hold of the towel around you. You free hand curls around his head to grasp onto what is left of his cropped hair. It is soft and downy between your fingers.
His teeth catch hold of your bottom lip, and he sucks on it gently, causing you to exhale shakily, dizzy with his taste. When he releases it, there is hardly enough time for you to breathe before his mouth captures yours again.
The lack of space between you creates an air that is suffocatingly hot and needy. Your lips feel swollen and slick with spit. He nips at the tender skin, and this time you whimper.
Jake pulls away when you lean forward to chase his lips again. His hands go to his shirt, pulling it over his head with one forceful tug. The flesh of his torso slides over muscle with the effort. His pants go next.
It is the first time that you see him naked. The first time you see him in anything other than a clean cut, military issued uniform, an image so conventionalized in your mind that it had become impossible to imagine him any other way. It is a type of unearthing for you, because you realize he's not unlike what you expected him to be.
Like his cheeks, his broad shoulders are tan and golden, even darker in comparison to his sun brazen complexion. The handles of his hips fade into large quads, tense with muscle. He's full, as one would think a man should be, his muscles swollen to the point that it looks skin splitting. It is foreign to you, his sturdiness, barren of boyhood.
Your towel goes next, and it falls to the ground at your feet, abandoned on the bedroom floor. Then he's kissing you again, your mouths raw and wet from tasting each other. The only breath you can suck in is his own.
As if he can sense your building headiness, Jake eases up a bit, connecting a few relatively tame pecks to your lips. Doing so, he grins against your mouth. Your eyes are closed but you can imagine the confident, all too relaxed look on his face as he says it.
"Just let go."
You have never been good at opening up, something past boyfriends have begged you — tears dripping down faces in college dorms — to do. You grew up alone, in a normal sized house with regular parents who fought enough to talk about divorce but never enough to do it. And so when you get scared, the nervous tendencies and self preservation that you learned as a child take over. Like a dog who learned not to trust a man's raised hand. Always ready to bite. Always on guard with your chest heaving wide and teeth bared.
He hovers, as if knowing not to push you. You are the same in that way, in your astuteness for each other. It was as if you knew each other without trying. His fingers smooth along the ridges of your spine. Pressed against his body, you linger indulgently at the hollow of his throat. His skin smells salty and raw, unsullied by the usual cleanly redolence of woody soap and washing detergent.
The thought occurs your to again.
I could want this.
It feels good if nothing else.
You unclench your jaw and become nothing beneath him.
Jake pushes you back until you're laying flat against the bed, and you have almost completely reversed positions. He follows, taunt muscles moving fluidly under bronze skin as he crawls over you. Wanting him closer, your legs hook around his waist, pressing his hips into your own. You can feel him harden at the contact.
There's no teasing, no rough foreplay, no biting remarks. He explores your body at his own pace, his large calloused hands pawing at the swell of your breasts before sliding down to squeeze firmly at the muscle of your ass.
The drag of his thigh against your clit is enough to draw a gasp from you, and he grins against your skin. Jake kisses along your chest, tongue teasing up the valley of your breasts while you grind your hips up into him.
A desperate whine slips out of your throat when he lifts his head. He moves up on the bed and plants a chaste kiss to your lips to quiet you. Then he pulls away again, face hovering over yours. His green eyes are bright, returning a sort of youthful gleam to his face.
"What?" he inquires, asking in the manner of someone who already knew the answer before they spoke.
"Want to feel you."
He hums, hand slipping under your hips to press them up into his own. The hard—hot—outline of his cock twitches against your bare skin. "You can feel me plenty."
He waits for the answer that he wants.
"Want to feel you inside me."
Grinning, he mocks an 'ahh' of understanding before leaning back to dig in his dresser, supposedly for a condom. For a glimmer of a moment, you lay back and marvel at the sheer size of him—the thick build of his shoulders, the hulking mass of his thighs, the size of his hard cock.
Catching onto your staring, Jake pulls a smirk that says he's pleased with having caught you doing so. Humility has never been a characteristic that you would have attached to Jake, and perhaps it was his resulting confidence that made his lack of the virtue so forgivable.
You wave him off when he comes up from the dresser empty handed. You'd take a plan B in the morning if you had too. He raises a brow, mouth quirking at your disregard but doesn't comment on it.
Jake crawls back over you and teases the tip of his flushed cock at your entrance just to hear you whine before sliding in. His size is by no means deceiving. The stretch of him stings. Jake quiets your grunt of discomfort by pressing his mouth to yours, tongue entangling with your own.
Your fingers dig into the hard muscle of his back, nails leaving half moons in his skin. His breath fans over your face, nose brushing yours as he hovers, waiting.
"Relax," he murmurs, one of his large palms rubbing up the tense muscle of your side. He can feel the tension beneath your skin, quivering with anticipation.
"Move, Jake," you pant from between your clenched teeth.
"Relax," he repeats, sterner. The tone of his voice tells you that he's not going to move until you do.
Huffing, you will your spine to loosen, try to let go of the tension in your hips. It's hard to concentrate when all you can feel is the splitting stretch of his pulsing cock inside of you, but you manage to relax enough that the clench of your knees isn't so tight around his hips.
"Atta girl."
Gently, as not to move too suddenly, Jake rocks his body into yours, hips rolling against your own. You close your eyes and breathe him in. Like a match being struck, the movement ignites a spark in your abdomen. The tone of your whines change from discomfort to pleasure as he continues to rock his hips.
"Fuck," he groans. "You're tight. But takin' me so well."
Face tucked into his neck, mouth pressed to his ear, all that comes out is a moan in response.
Jake's hand glides down your side, blunt fingers bumping over the ridges of your ribs and across your hip. His palm smooths over the curve of your ass, hand cupping the underside of your thigh and hiking it up without warning. The change in angle allows him to sink deeper into your, hitting a spongey spot that has you mewling.
Your fingers dig into the flesh of his shoulder, nails digging crescents that are sure to draw blood. The breath that escaped him is sharp. He grits his teeth, mouth pressed to your throat as he sponges kisses to your skin.
Something tells you he likes it, the pain. Not necessarily in a masochistic way, his psych exams would never let him get away with that. But you suspect it's more of a reminder that he's human. You know for you it is.
You know that your time is not unlimited and despite that fact that you're good at what you do, your role as a fighter pilot has an expiration date. The average time spent in the field is ten years, and even then most didn't stay in that long. These days, every mission you come back from is a miracle. Eventually you run out of those.
Jake's palm that isn't supporting your thigh slides back up your ribs until his fingers find yours link them, and bring them above your head. The position stretches the expanse of your body out across the bed, exposing you entirely to him. Jake abandons the crease of your neck to suck a bruise to the underside of your breast, a spot he knows will be hidden by your bra should anyone care to look. The laving of his tongue along your nipple sends a shiver down your spine.
Between the rocking of his cock inside you and the attention he's paying to your breasts, you reach your breaking point. You squirm beneath him, walls clenching around his cock as you come. The orgasm travels all the way down to your toes and has you curling them into the mattress.
Jake isn't far behind you. He comes without warning, without asking in or out. You feel it when he releases inside of you, hot and overwhelming. You close your eyes, your head falling back against the mattress as he pulls out. Your used cunt clenches around nothing, already missing his absence. With your heart beating fast inside of your chest, you're grateful that the fan had already been turned on in your bedroom. It helps to cool your flushed cheeks.
Somewhere to your side, you feel the mattress dip and Jake rolls off to lay beside you. He says something but the words are nothing but noise in the back of your fuzzy head. You know you need to clean yourself up, get up and brush your teeth, but you're suddenly more tired than you've ever been in your entire life. Five minutes just to close your eyes won't hurt.
——
You wake up with a start hours later. At first you're confused. The bedroom is oddly bright and your alarm hasn't yet gone off. The sight of Jake tangled in your sheets, snoring occasionally beside you brings it all back.
The soft glow of the lamp on the bedside table swallows his body in a golden brown hue. He's faced towards you on his side, one arm tucked under his head, the other cupping the underside of your thigh, which is slung over his hip. Wide awake beside him, you use the opportunity to observe his face freely.
A faint smattering of freckles that look more like sun damage than anything hide behind his tanned complexion. They creep down the bridge of his nose and across his strong cheekbones, hardly noticeable unless you were to really look.
His fair hair and blonde lashes make you think that he was probably even blonder in his younger years. His lips match the flush of his cheeks, a dusty rose color with a plumpness that most girls usually spend good money trying to achieve.
But as the glorious post-sex haze fades away, so does your blissful negligence. You have a training meeting in an hour, and yet here you are, sleeping in the bed with a man that you barely even know.
You should go, get up before he does so that you're not leaving for the meeting at the same time.
Shifting across the mattress proves to be a relatively easy task. Jake barley moves an inch as you slip from his grasp, the mattress creaking just slightly beneath you. It's when your feet hit the cold floor that the latest problem presents itself.
Lukewarm liquid escapes down your thighs, creating a trail of creamy liquid down your bare legs. A recap of the night's events plays through your head. You didn't use a condom.
"Fuck me," you curse quietly, rushing toward the bathroom as best you can with semen dripping down you legs. You awkwardly step into the shower and rise yourself off, already making plans to buy a Plan B as soon as you can. Nothing will be open this early so you'll have to go after the meeting.
You creep back into the bedroom in search of your uniform. To your dismay, Jake turns over as you tiptoe across the room. After a moment, he sits up slightly, watching as you yank on your clothes from last night. They're rumpled from spending the night on the floor, but you've shown up for work in much worse condition. Jake hasn't said a word.
When you reach for the door, he's still watching you. For a second you panic, wondering if you're supposed to kiss him goodbye or at least say something as you leave.
If he's expecting you to and you don't, you set a clear boundary to whatever is going on between you. If he's not and you do, it could be the last time you see him inside your bedroom.
Before you can think twice, you mutter a goodbye and dart out the door.

THE WAY YOU SAY GOODBYE
a/n: i have been watching way too much hart of dixie lately and well wade is basically just hangman in a different font. don't try to argue cause you know i'm absolutely right. so i spawned this drabble out of my head as if i were summoning a demon. enjoy my hangman girlies.
summary: if there's a way to say goodbye that has been noted in the history books, hangman will find a way to master it.
word count: 1k+
pairing: jake 'hangman' seresin x f!reader
warnings: semi-explicit, kissing that borders on tongue fucking, he's nasty with it, cocky hangman, spit, again i say he's nasty with it.
Tumblr media
Looking up the definition of the word goodbye would come with an endless amount of definitions and explanations. All in varying languages, with meanings so deep they grew like the roots of a tree. Embedding themselves in the earth with life of its own.
The way Hangman said goodbye wasn’t one of those.
He was assured, cocky, and genuinely believed he was God’s gift to this earth. You could see it with how he leaned against the pool table, his legs spread, lips pulled into a you know you want to fuck me smile. And the thing was…you couldn’t deny it. You did in fact want that. You had that. Four hours ago at the crack of dawn when he found his way back into your bed after a run and a shower.
Of course the others around would voice their displeasure and intense disgust if either of you brought it up. So you stayed silent. Sipping a coffee as he argued with Rooster over who had the bigger dick. Or something of that manner. You weren’t entirely focused on the conversation, your eyes fixated on the way his uniform pulled taut across his shoulders.
You were pretty sure that if you peeled the layers of fabric away, you’d find the imprint of your teeth in the muscle of his right shoulder.
Part of you was tempted to search for it. The other part had yet to notice he had stopped talking altogether, his attention on the only thing that mattered. You and your dreamy haze of love.
If he had the time he’d drag you to the bathroom, but everyone was already starting to pack it in for the morning. It would be a long day of training, of listening to the same orders over and over, of picking fights with one another until their patience ran thin. And all he wanted was to say goodbye to you properly. In a way that he’d feel each time you crossed his mind.
“You want a ride?” Fanboy asked, digging his keys out of his pocket.
He nodded. “Yeah thanks.”
“Let’s head out boys.” Phoenix shoved her arms into the leather jacket she’d brought even though the weather outside was warm enough to sunbathe.
He found his mind wandering to the image of you doing just that.
“Alright,” he sighed, standing tall as he reached for the jacket on the back of his chair.
You smiled as he sauntered over to you, his hand gripping your waist as he tugged you to stand up. “You’re going?”
He sighed as if you’d asked him the hardest question to exist. “Yeah. I’ve gotta go baby.”
“I’ll see you tonight.”
The soft smile that crossed his lips was enough to have your heart racing. “I’ve got a new bottle of wine, some new desserts to try out.”
He smiled, his hand sliding lower as you listed out a few other things. Some which you had to say softly, lest you bring the wrath of the others. You’d been in that predicament before; you didn’t necessarily want to go back. At least not for a few months. Getting caught at the rocks by the beach was bad enough. Getting caught by Rooster, Phoenix, and Coyote was worse.
Although they couldn’t deny it, they were much happier seeing Hangman in a relationship than out of one.
“We got to go man,” Fanboy said, nudging Payback to get up from where he sat. “I don’t want to get stuck doing extra push ups when your asses make me late.”
Jake chuckled, his eyes dropping to the way your tongue slid along your bottom lip. The idea of dropping in when he got lunch was appealing enough to hold him over for a few hours. At least then he could show you what he’d been craving to eat since this morning.
“Gentlemen. Phoenix. You might want to avert your eyes. I’m about to kiss my woman goodbye.” The groan from behind was enough to set you off in a fit of giggles, your hand sliding into the base of his hair. “C’mere sugar,” he mumbled, grasping the nape of your neck.
To say Jake Seresin invented the art of saying goodbye was an understatement. He made bidding farewell dirty, debauched, and so filthy so as to solidify that moment in your mind for the rest of the day. His tongue slid into your mouth, a soft moan at the taste of your coffee being pressed into the searing kiss, as he tugged you even closer. The breath was knocked from your lungs with each lick into you and you began to wonder if maybe he was thinking of something else entirely.
That only made you grip onto his hair tighter, pulling him close enough to feel the way his hips shifted forward. Not enough to draw attention from the others. Yet you felt as if he was grinding into you without a single item of clothing on.
“That’s disgusting!” Rooster shouted from across the bar.
Yet you couldn’t find it in yourself to pull away. Spit spread slightly down your chin, his teeth digging into the plush skin of your bottom lip, and you felt your knees begin to buckle. Even as he gripped your ass tight enough to leave a phantom touch behind.
He made sure you’d feel him all fucking day.
“Mm,” he hummed, his grip growing tighter. “Your coffee tastes delicious baby.”
You laughed. “You want some?”
“I gotta go,” he mumbled, kissing you again as he licked even deeper into your mouth. His sharp inhale the cause of your heart stuttering.
“So go,” you breathed. “I’m not stopping you.”
He smiled. “Liar.”
“Don’t be rude.”
“Or what?”
Twisting his hair between your fingers, you tugged his head back slightly. Earning you a soft grunt you felt in the base of your stomach.
“Or I find something else to occupy my night.”
“Noted Mrs. Seresin.” He snuck your mug out from behind you, stealing a sip as you hung on him—addicted to his mere presence.
You smiled, biting into your bottom lip as he cleaned you up with his thumb. “I’ll see you later Mr. Seresin.”
“Oh yes you will,” he murmured, stealing a chaste kiss as he swung his jacket over his shoulder. “You can count on it sugar!”

AN: twenty five parts have been receiving sm love and support 🥲 hugs and kisses to you all ! you guys are amazing 💜
<<prev >>next
Paul’s father eventually had to go to work, making him have to leave. He didn’t want to. A visitor leaving brought a visitor to enter.
Bella was so pissed at you when she came to the hospital. So pissed, it wasn’t even funny. She didn’t even look at you.
She stared at the baby in Jacob’s arms.
“Can I hold them?” she asked plainly but softly with her fists clenched.
“Of course.” you say quietly.
She washed her hands quickly and she held them. She stared at them. She gently rocked them as she whispered, “They’re so beautiful.”
“Thanks.” you and Paul say.
She goes and sits down as she continues to hold them. She stared at them as she shook her head slowly.
You see Paul jerk his head at Jacob near the door. It now was just you, Bella, and the secret.
The room was silent before she finally spoke.
“Why did you do this? I thought I meant more to you than this.”
She gave you the heated stare. She was gentle with her hands, gentle with the newborn, but her eyes weren’t.
“You do-“ you start.
“I clearly don’t.” she snapped quietly, she was hurt.
“I wasn’t ready to acknowledge it to myself, let alone to other people.” you say honestly.
“And you know what? You still could’ve said something to us. If not to Jake, what about me, at least?” she demanded shaking her head.
“I know sorry won’t cut it, but you’re more than happy to be around.”
“Yeah. After the fact.” she muttered with a snort, “Who all knows? You, Paul and the universe?”
“No…His father as well.”
She doesn’t say anything. Her face made up for her words. You held your breath because you thought she was going to cry.
After some time, she left with Jacob. She didn’t say goodbye. She wasn’t over it. Jacob wasn’t over it as well but, he told you he would see you later.
The small infant was finally introduced to their home. To their room.
Your favorite part was the smell. The baby smelled so good. It’s what you and Paul gushed over whenever you both took turns holding them.
“It’s like baby powder.” you say as you sniff them.
“But…like better.” Paul says as he sniffs them.
Small eyes were closed and fast asleep while you had taken full advantage.
Even though yourself were tired and your brain begged you to sleep as well, you still worked on your art.
Paul came home after patrol, you both ate dinner as you held the child with pumped breast milk in the bottle.
“You can’t hide out, Y/N.”
“I just don’t want to see anyone right now.” you say quietly.
He sighed. Not an annoyed sigh, but he didn’t want you to think that way. He had to constantly hear people asking him to bring you around, only for you to refuse. They knew for a fact that you were out of the hospital.
“You’re going to have to see them eventually.”
“When the time comes, I will.” you whisper.
“Take it from someone who pisses people off on the daily. Just talk to them. Isn’t no use in being scared.” he says with a shrug.
You think as you burp your infant.
“Nope..No thinking. Just talk to them.” he says.
He goes to take them.
You snort before laughing and he rolled his eyes at your laughter but he couldn’t help but smile.
You get up and grab something and help him wipe off the spit up that was gifted to his bare chest.
With closed eyes, you whispered his name as he kissed you farewell. He had to leave for patrol in the morning. You finally had gotten the baby to sleep after staying up with them through the night.
Finishing changing their pamper you open the door after hearing a loud knock and widened your eyes at the figure.
“Hey.” you say slowly. Your heart pounded out of your chest.
Sam doesn’t say anything. He comes in without being invited in and uncrossed his arms.
“What the hell, Y/N?”
You look down.
“You know that when Emily delivered her baby, she kept asking for you. Only for you to pull this.”
You look back up at him.
“Sam. Behind the scenes, it wasn’t easy for me to just be happy automatically-“
“You think Emily was jumping up for joy instead of being petrified that Leah would find out? She eventually didn’t hide it anymore. She couldn’t hide it. You however, had nothing to even worry about and you didn’t even tell us that you were expecting or that a child even entered this world.”
You look down again.
“Why would you do that?” he demanded.
“I don’t know I….It was a really hard time for me..Bringing other people in would’ve made me feel worse” you stammer.
He shakes his head with such ridicule, “It would’ve made you feel better. I had an idea when I caught a whiff of you. You’re not marked by Paul and you smelled so strongly of him….Is that why you didn’t come around after that day?”
You nod.
“Unbelievable, Y/N…You pissed everyone off. We all wanted to be there. We wanted to be there for you.”
“Do…Do you want to see them?” you whisper.
That’s when his face softened. He nodded. After he washed his hands, he stared down in the crib at the squirming infant in awe.
“Do you think…They will phase?” you ask as you watch him sit in the rocking chair with the baby.
“It’s hard to say now. Only time will tell.”
You nod.
“Emily didn’t finish wedding planning. Take a guess why.”
“She shouldn’t have done that for me.”
“But, why would you not think she would do that in the first place? As close as you are with everyone, it’s like you didn’t care about hiding things.”
You look down as you concentrated on the creaking of the rocking chair.
“I really came over, because Old Quil wants to see you.”
Your jaw dropped as you stared at him.
“I will watch the child.”
“You mother-….Fine.” you mutter. You leave out as Sam displayed an amused smile.
Sitting on Old Quil’s couch, he tapped his finger on the arm of the chair.
The eyes weren’t friendly but you took it because you felt that you deserved it.
“I could understand the wedding part….The baby part…That’s where you lost me.”
His eyes narrowed and his lips were in a thin line.
“I’m sorry, Old Quil…”
“It felt like a big fuck you to everyone.”
You dropped your jaw as you never heard him drop the f-bomb but you shut it as you then explain, scooting up on the couch as you say, “It wasn’t like that….I freaked out when I found out I was pregnant.”
“I’m not taking that as an excuse. You stopped seeing everyone, stopped talking to everyone. You completely shut us out. We’ve never did anything like that to you. We accepted you with open arms. That hurt.”
“I’ll bring them around…” you say in acceptance. You had to face what you did.
“Don’t pacify me. You didn’t even come witness Emily giving birth. She didn’t ask for anyone else other than you. She hasn’t seen her own mother in god knows how long but your name kept falling from her lips.”
You wring your hands as you swallowed.
“I can’t even fault Paul. It was your idea to hide it in the first place.”
“It was.” you admit.
“If people don’t forgive you, you can’t be upset with them or blame them.”
You nod in understanding.
“Are you ashamed of Paul?”
Your heart stopped.
“Old Quil.” you warn with a glare. He only blinked.
You scoff as you sat back in his couch, “No. I’m not ashamed of him. That’s not why I hid it from everyone.”
“I knew. The entire time. I was waiting on you to tell me. Months went by. Nothing. Not a word.”
“How? How did you know?”
“I know everything that goes in my tribe. I’m not a shaman for nothing.”
“I’ll bring them over. They need to get to know you. I did a horrible job showing it, but you mean a lot to me.” you say quietly.
“Do better, Y/N.”
You would give him that. It’s the least you can do.
You stop in your tracks when you came out of Old Quil’s home.
The short haired girl looked like she saw you rise from the dead. She stalked towards you. Angry.
Leah shoved you. Hard.
“Leah?” Seth asks in panic.
You continue to walk towards her, despite Seth trying to take your arm to hold you back.
“Leah, I’m sorry.”
She shoved you again. Seth made sure you didn’t fall.
“Do I have a sign on my head to remind everyone to fuck me over? Do I?” she demanded.
“No…You don’t. I was afraid to tell anyone.” you whisper.
“You just thought about your fucking self.” she roared with a finger thrusting in your face.
You look down.
“Is that how you think of us? That you have to do everything in secrecy?”
You shake your head, “No.”
“Come on, Lee. Let’s just walk while we talk.” Seth pleaded to his sister.
You all three walk, you in the middle.
“I’m not mad at my mother. She can’t run her mouth about her patients but come on, Y/N.”
The soft wind blew as you nod.
“I’m sorry…I was…Thinking about getting rid of it.” you whisper. You then shrug, “I was scared. I know next to nothing about raising children.”
“Maybe you would have an idea if you said something…” Seth adds in quietly. The kid was hurt. It made you feel horrible.
“I would’ve much rather been around for your birth instead of Emily’s. It’s just been an uncomfortable experience these past months.”
“Shit….I can’t say how sorry I am. I was so selfish.” you whisper.
“Yeah.” both Leah and Seth say.
“So, where are they? When can we see them?” Seth asks excitedly.
“At home. Sam’s watching them. I can kick him out really quick.” you say as you look at Leah.
“No…I want to see them.” Leah says and she’s already walking in the direction of your home.
Sam and Leah didn’t speak to each other as he left out. It would’ve been awkward had the child had not been in Seth’s arms. That’s what Leah paid attention to instead of the man that was currently leaving your home.
“They’re so cute.” Seth gushed.
“And so little.” Leah cooed.
“I’m definitely going to be the favorite uncle. I’m going to teach you so much!” Seth breathlessly say.
After they left, you invited Bella over.
Bella gave you the silent treatment as she cooed at your child.
After making lunch, you both ate as she finally speaks.
“I wonder what else you hid from me.”
You lean back in your chair.
“We got married.”
“When?”
“Back when I first found out.” you admit quietly.
“Wow…” she says quietly with a shake of her head as you saw her becoming angry all over again.
Nothing was said. You were looking at the small and sleeping figure before she spoke again. The tension settled in the room.
“What’s the point in being your friend if you’re just going to hide your entire life from me?” she choked up. You look up. Tears started to spill.
She moved to put them down in the bassinet.
You hug her but she doesn’t hug you back. You didn’t care. You felt horrible for what you did.
“It was just an elopement. I still planned and still is planning for a public wedding. I swear.”
“That’s not the point! I would have never done anything like that to you and you know it.” she says as she holds both of your arms.
“I know..I’m sorry. You don’t have to forgive me. What I did was messed up.”
“So messed up! I would’ve loved to experience that with you. I wanted to be a witness to that. I would’ve love to be included…How you went about this entire situation was just plain wrong.” she says in frustration.
“I wish I could take it back…I would take it back in a drop of a dime.”
“You’re my best friend Y/N.” she says sadly.
Your heart lurched with happiness to hear her say that. But, you felt bad because you did what you did.
“You’re my best friend too. I was just scared. I didn’t even know if I wanted to keep it. Next thing I know….I’m pushing out a human being.” you say as you sat down.
“If you were scared, you could’ve came to me…If you didn’t want me to say anything, I would’ve done that….You didn’t even give me a chance.”
“I didn’t…..Each day….I’ll do what I can to make it right.”
She turns and continued to look down at the small child.
They next day, you sat on the edge of the bed fully dressed as you kept turning on and off your phone.
“What are you doing?” Paul chuckled.
“I was going to call Emily….Im too chicken.” you say as you put your phone to the side.
“Just go over there.”
“I can’t…” you whisper.
“You can…And you will.” he replied.
“Just talk to her, Y/N.” he says softly. He gives you a kiss of encouragement.
You nod.
You walked instead of driving.
Emily didn’t look up when you entered her warm home.
“Hi.”
“Hi, Y/N.” she says quietly.
The silence was deafening as you move to sit at the table. She was fiddling with her ring.
“Don’t worry. I held off the wedding.”
You look down.
“I heard…Sam told me.” you whisper.
More silence transpired. You noticed that Claire wasn’t there.
“No babysitting duty?” you try to lighten up the environment.
She lay her hands flat on the table and just stared, “We would’ve been pregnant together. I would’ve loved that bond for us….It feels stolen away.”
You look down in deep disappointment.
Regret was filling every ounce of your body and it felt like an uncomfortable costume.
“I wish I could go back in time and do things differently. I would do it in a heartbeat….I was a coward.” you say.
“I just don’t get it. Before anybody, before any of the imprints, I met you. I didn’t meet Kim, or Bella, or Angela….Did any of those times mattered? We’ve been through so much but yet, we couldn’t go through something happy together?”
“I was selfish.”
The door opens and Jared freezes and Kim bumps into his back. She gives him an annoyed look before taking a peak at you.
You felt really uncomfortable. Leaning forward with your arms crossed in your chair, you clench your jaw as you focused on ignoring one person you didn’t feel like seeing.
You shift in your chair.
“So, I take running and hiding didn’t work.” Kim says bitterly but Jared overtalks her with, “You alright, Y/N?”
“Yeah.” you say quietly as you look at him and you shift to face him in your chair to show how sorry you are.
“Jared. Im so sorry that I didn’t include all of you….”
“I would be mad…But, I was thinking…Dealing with Paul, there’s more childbirths for us to catch up on.” Jared replied with a childish tone.
You get up and playfully smack him in his shoulder as he laughs.
He swings an arm around you, “Seriously, what were you thinking?”
“This is a new like….moment in my life. I have no excuse but I genuinely freaked out about taking the news when I should’ve did things differently.”
“How is parenthood? Paradise?” He asked.
You felt a slow burn of a smile stretch across your face. You shrug a little, “It’s alright”.
“Yeah. Definitely more babies.” he teased and you shove him playfully as Sam enters.
Emily greets him but her face doesn’t brighten up after his kiss.
“So, were you ashamed to have a baby by Paul? Is that why you hid everything?” Kim asks. Her arms were crossed and she sat in her chair.
“She wasn’t ashamed. She was probably scared. Right, Y/N?” Jared says. You nod at his claim as you sit back down.
“She wasn’t scared when it was time to lay down on her back.” She retorted.
You scoot your chair back and rise but Sam placed two hands on your shoulders and pushed his arms down to make you sit again.
“Kim, quit it. Things are lightening up. We don’t need you ruining it with your mouth.” Sam says.
“I just don’t get it. If I had a pregnancy with Jared, the world and planet would know. I thought you loved Paul? You only hide things when you’re ashamed. I would know that.”
“Yeah…Just like how the world and the planet know that you were blaming Jared and giving him hell for not being able to leave for college when you were the one who accepted the imprint in the first place. Learn your place Kim.”
“Oh really? Well, I can say this. At least I didn’t smoke weed with a child in my stomach. Some mother you are.”
“Kim would you just-“ Jared started but you’re too fired up to let him finish his sentence.
“I didn’t even know I was expecting when I did it. You’re such an asshole and for what?”
“You’re so careless now. You’ve never been this careless.” she fired back with.
“You’re so weird. You know that?” you grit at her.
Sam holds up a hand, “Alright, you two. That’s enough.”
Kim rolled her eyes with a huff.
You rub your forehead with a sigh. You came to make things work, not to fight with someone who wasn’t all that important.
Emily gets up from the table and gestures for you to follow her. You do so.
In the dark room, the child lies in their crib, sound asleep.
A perfect combination of Sam and Emily. So precious.
A wobbly smile graced your lips, “I’m so sorry, Emily….You needed me and I wasn’t there….I wish I could take it back. I would do it in a heartbeat.” you whisper at the sleeping figure.
You felt her hug you.
“I mean it, Y/N. No more secrets.” she stressed.
You nod enthusiastically.
“I promise.” you say to her and hug her back tightly.
Paul’s father made dinner as you burped your infant.
“You know, I’m hurt you two haven’t asked me to watch the little kiddo yet.”
“You’re more than welcome. We know how busy you are with work.” you say.
He waved that off, “I work to keep my mind occupied. Even on days I don’t have to.”
You chuckle a bit.
“Do you want to watch them?” Paul asks boldly.
You look at Paul as he was waiting for his father’s answer.
His father grinned and nods enthusiastically.
“It’s late so, you mean keep them overnight?” he asked. Paul nods with a smile.
“Wait, wait. Overnight?” you ask.
“They’ll be fine. He raised me.” Paul says as he watched you stare down at the small child.
“He knows what to do, Y/N.” he continued.
“Yeah. Didn’t change all of Paul’s stinky diapers for nothing.” his father backed up.
You were hesitant.
“Come on, babe. It’s just for one night.” Paul says.
“Um…Okay…” you say as you continued to stare at your child.
You hear Paul get up, “I’ll take the bag and put more stuff in it. I’ll be right back.”
“Okay.” you say quietly.
He left out the front door to make his way to the home you two shared.
As he was gone, his father seemed very excited.
“First night with the grandchild.”
You couldn’t help but smile.
He cooed to the child as he held them while you cleaned up since he had the duty of cooking.
Paul came back and his father was excited.
You stalled to stay in his house longer. Paul noticed.
“Come, on. We can finally get a break.” he says to you and makes his way towards the door.
“Just one last kiss.” you say and nuzzle your nose on their small cheek. Their cheek twitched. You smile.
“Thanks dad.” Paul says and his father tells him that it’s no problem.
“Free time. What to do, what to do?” you grin as you entered the home.
Paul doesn’t say anything until he has a soft but firm hold on the nape of your neck.
“We should go to bed.” he says in a deep tone.
“O-okay.” you replied as he placed a lingered kiss on your neck.
The kiss was sweet. It made you almost faint. You both took each other’s time to let your mouths to get to know each other.
His hot skin felt delicious as it was pressed against yours. His hands touched on you as if he owned you and you loved it.
His kiss was sensual as he cupped your sex before eventually dipping his finger in your warm wetness. Your breath was shaky but it felt very good as he collected the wetness to circle it around your nub.
You trembled slightly as he hovered over, placing open mouth kisses down your body until he attached his mouth to your mound.
You shook so much, you thought you would never come out of such spell.
Your legs squeezed his head as you jolted. You could remember the exact numbers of how many times you came, but it made you incoherent.
So incoherent, you barely noticed the fact that you were on your stomach as he thrusted in and out of you. He whispered how much he loved you in your ear. He gave you wet kisses in your ear that made you be on the edge once again.
His thrusts became longer and deeper. It made you lose your breath as you could hear the sound of skin connecting in the bedroom you two shared. His moans in your ear made you squeeze your eyes shut in pleasure as you grip his wrist that was clenched in the sheets, next to your face.
He sucked on your neck, you saw a gazillion stars and you were breathless. You didn’t know what was happening, it almost scared you. His thrusts were so deep that you couldn’t move.
You blink awake as you felt very warm. Very warm on the inside.
Paul’s deep breaths as he slept gave you goosebumps as he breathed out on your cheek. His heavy body was mushed against yours but it was the most comfortable that you have ever been.
You didn’t know how to explain it. Your eyes looked more alive, more vibrant. You looked content and happy as if you already wasn’t. You looked loved. The person in the mirror didn’t look so unsure.
It was red. It was huge. It stuck out like a sore thumb. But, it brought you deep excitement. You traced the mark with your finger and goosebumps followed, it was enough to make you inhale sharply due to the intense energy that followed.
When you touched it, it sent a slight buzz to your core. But you look down in the mirror. Another one. On your hip bone. You traced it and had to hold onto the sink by how breathless it made you. You rubbed the mark on your neck as you could feel Paul near.
He lured you into the shower as soon as he entered.
“You two look well rested. I’m glad I took them on.” His father says as he hands you the diaper bag. You take it.
His father gives you a warm smile as you look down shyly. He saw it.
“Yeah…We needed it.” Paul says. His voice was light. Calm.
As Paul strapped the baby in the car, his father pulled you to the side.
“Is that…A wolf thing?”
You nod.
“It doesn’t hurt.”
“That’s good…Marking…I heard about it when I heard the legends.” he says quietly. He then gives you a hug.
“Are you okay?” Paul asks as he fed the child their bottle. He sat in the rocking chair, softly rocking back and forth. The baby stared up at their father in awe as their cheeks were full of milk as they swallowed their food.
“Yeah….I feel on top of the world, Paul.” you say quietly and it was dopey grin.
“Me too. I feel complete.” he says with contentment and you nod as you could say the same.
“Did you feel it? When I did it?” Paul asks you in the rocking chair.
You shake your head.
“It just felt like……An orgasm that…Was choking me. Like it was smothering me.” you had goosebumps just by thinking about. You’ve never experienced anything like it, you were convinced it was very unique.
He nods and breathed out a sigh of relief.
“Please don’t hide this…It means a lot to me and my wolf. Own it, Y/N.” he says to you. The look in his eyes made you almost sad. His eyes lingered on the mark.
You shake your head. Your heart felt broken at the fact of hiding such thing. You wanted to broadcast it to the entire wold.
“Never. I’m honored. That your wolf picked me….I love you so much. I love our child that we brought to this Earth so much. I love your wolf very much.”
He smiled at you and it was contagious as you matched it.
You gave Bella a careful hug. She noticed.
“What’s wrong?”
“I have to tell you something.” you whisper to Bella.
“Okay.” she says cautiously. She didn’t know what to expect. She honestly thought you were pregnant again.
“Don’t freak out.” you whisper.
“I’m not.” Bella says but keeps her eyes on you.
“Bella, I’m serious.” you say.
“I won’t. Y/N, I won’t. I swear.” she says quietly.
She held her breath as you then slowly take off your hoodie. She takes in a sharp inhale as she whispered your name.
“W-when did it happen?” she stammered out.
“Last night.” you whisper.
She kept staring at it.
“Wait.” you say.
You slowly tug down the side of your sweatpants and underwear and show her the exposed skin on your hip.
“Jesus.” she whispered and leans to get a closer look, “Two?!”
“You’re the only one who knows.” you say with your eyes filled with worry as you fix your pants back.
“I’m not judging it’s just….Wow. Do you feel okay?” she blinked.
“I do. I feel more than okay. The thing is….They pulsate, especially when he’s near and it’s…” you shake your head, “It takes time to get used to.”
“Like…What do you mean?” she asks, trying to bring more clarity to the situation.
You keep your hand on the mark on your neck, “It feels great when I touch it. But when he comes around…Him touching it feels like an instant orgasm…It’s hard to explain but I feel so weak when he touches it. But a good type of weak.”
You felt shaky just thinking about it. It had such strong effect.
“But..It doesn’t hurt…Right?”
“No, not at all,” you say quietly as you look down, “I now know why Emily didn’t want me to touch hers…I don’t want anyone other than Paul to touch mine.”
“So…Is it true? As long as Paul shifts…You don’t change in age?”
“That’s what Old Quil said at the bonfire when I first heard about it…I mean, it’s definitely going to happen to you. You’re dating the soon to be Alpha.”
Her face flushed a deep red.
“Yeah but..Will it hurt when he bite me? I don’t know about having…Two.”
“You’ll barely feel it. It’s probably why it happens while we’re both climaxing.”
She continued to stare at the one on your lower neck. It was huge.
“Well…As long as you’re happy.” she says. She meant it.
You sit back down.
“I’m glad you told me.” she whispers.
“You think I should…Tell the others? You’re the only person who knows.”
She thinks for a moment.
“Yeah. Emily eventually let us see hers.”
With that, you two walked to Emily’s from the beach.
Emily loved having you in the kitchen. She sighed in contentment as you helped her and her baby blinked at the world in their eyes as Embry and Jared took turns baby talking to them.
They were occupied so that meant that you two could cook without them trying to sneak food.
“Y/N, you’re making me hot by looking at you. Take your hoodie off.” Emily chuckled.
You were hesitant but Bella gives you a silent but encouraging look.
“Okay.” you finally say. She watched you take it off. You then smile at her as you show her what was on your neck.
Emily gave you a watery smile. She hugged you tight and you shifted your body to where she couldn’t touch it.
“What’s with the hugging?”
“Oh, it’s you.” you rolled your eyes as you heard the voice.
You move back to grab your hoodie.
Kim’s eyes widened with a gasp. She pointed without shame.
“You really let him do that to you? What’s wrong with your head?”
“Kim. Leave her alone.” Bella speaks up.
“She’s grown. She doesn’t need her new bestie to speak for her.” Kim retorted.
“Oh my gosh. It’s like you’re jealous or something.” you chuckled. You then move to go outside. The house was too cramped all of a sudden.
“Jealous of what? You’re already locked down with an entire baby. By Paul. Now, you let his animal mutilate you.”
“Watch it.” you grit as you turned around to face her. You were obviously annoyed at the fact that she followed you.
“Or what? Fight me again? You get so mad when I point out the truths but say what you want. Before this life, before any of these people, I knew you longer than everyone in this room.”
“Knew. You don’t know me now. It’s quite sad. That’s the only thing you hang on to.”
“You wanna know what’s sad? You had a baby with a troubled whore who only married you to save face before you started showing. You would’ve still been engaged to a promise.”
You shove her.
“Not true.” you say.
She shoved you back.
“True. He spent the last of his chump change to get you that ring. Maybe you should ask him how he got money to get it. He has no job. He has no income. He shifts majority of the 24hour day. Was he slinging dick for coins?”
You slap her.
“You’re such a bitch!”
She holds her cheek with a point, “Keep your fucking hands to yourself. I never see any of this anger directed towards him, Y/N!”
“You say out of pocket shit and expect me to let it slide, Kim! He’s my imprint and he can’t cheat. If he tried to, I would feel and know it automatically. Why am I even explaining this to you? You literally have one.”
“I’ll say something out of pocket. You’re taking care of a grown ass man. Now, a child. Have fun stroking that paint brush for a very long time. You just set yourself up to be his paypig not his lover…”
“Stay out of my business. I don’t go rummaging through yours.”
“My business doesn’t include bestiality.” she spat.
You tackle her.
You almost tried to kill her, your fist cranked back and repeatedly cracked her face. You were zoned out. Your feelings were hurt. She insulted Paul. The father of your kid. She insulted your relationship with him. She didn’t understand you two. But, you did.
“Whoa! Y/N!”
You continue, not focusing on whose voice it was. Your fist couldn’t stop. It was as if it had a kind of their own. Each crack gave you satisfaction. You didn’t care about the blood that splattered on your fist, your shirt or the specks that flew up on your face.
“Y/N. Stop.”
It was the voice of Sam.
Your fist was in the air as you look down at Kim’s battered face. You couldn’t move.
Hands were then wrapped around your waist but you tried to fight against it. Moving forward to attack her again but you’re led away.
You couldn’t move. It was Embry that had you in such tight grip.
You were shaking. You couldn’t believe you hauled off like that. It was as if you blacked out.
“I’m okay, Embry. I’m not going to touch her.” you say to him calmly. He was hesitant but he let you go. He still made sure to keep his body in front of you. You have a seat on Emily’s porch as you watch her pick her body up from the ground.
You give a questioning look to Sam. He only stared at you with his arms crossed.
Kim tries to make her way towards you but Bella turns from your side. Bella pushed her with one powerful push off of instinct.
“Stay back.” she says sternly.
“Don’t fucking push me.” Kim yells in Bella’s direction, taking threatening steps towards her.
“Don’t touch her.” you and Bella say threatening Kim, coming to each other’s defense.
You both pause and look at each other, noticing you both said the same thing at the same time.
Jared comes and steers Kim away. He gives you an apologetic look as he heard everything that Kim had said.
Bella shifted on her feet.
“Are you alright?”
You nod.
“Come on, Y/N.” she says quietly and tugged on your arm. Your hands shook as you looked down at the bloody mess. You’ve never been that angry before. It frightened you in a way as your adrenaline was trying to simmer down.
Bella flicked on the bathroom light and shut the door. You let the water run over the knuckles that were bloody. The reddish water turned pink as it continued to be swallowed by the drain.
A hard knock was made.
“We need a minute!” Bella says through the door.
A knock was made again. Bella huffed and opened the door.
“Y/N.”
You’re already at the door.
Angela looked at you worried. You were shocked that she hugged you.
“Are you okay?”
“Yeah..But, her face….I went too far.”
Angela gives Bella a look that didn’t go unnoticed from you.
“Let’s go take a walk to the beach.” she suggested and links her arm with yours.
Sitting on the rocks, you all three watched the waves.
“l don’t know what happened…I couldn’t stop.” you whisper.
“She said some mean things. It would be hard if someone came at Embry like that too….Was it always this bad between you two?” Angela asks.
You shake your head.
“She used to be my best friend since children….Now….I barely know her anymore…It all started when I started seeing Paul. Even before he phased…”
“While you were away….She talked a lot of..”
“Shit?” you finish.
Angela sheepishly chuckled before nodding, “It was unfair. You weren’t there to defend yourself.”
“She made Paul seem like an ultimate villain…Like, he was the one keeping you away. If it wasn’t for me talking to him, who knows what I would’ve thought. He told me you were just buried with work…I didn’t like what she said about him just because you’re the breadwinner. There’s nothing wrong with what you two have got going on.” Bella says.
“In a way, I did just knock out my work. It’s just that I had an extra witness…I do feel horrible that I didn’t let you guys be apart of something so tender.” you say sincerely.
“We would appreciate it if you didn’t treat us so much like outsiders.” Bella says and Angela couldn’t help but nod in agreement.
“I promise…”
They took your word.
Angela and Bella kept you busy with conversation as you all went back to Emily’s. You were thankful that Kim was gone.
Emily let you hold her baby. It looked at up you with curiosity. You were glad they didn’t think you were a threat. You didn’t want to be violent but you were pushed to the edge.
You started to rub your neck a bit and you hear laughter. You look over to see Jacob and Paul roughhousing each other. Jacob pushed Paul before they came inside of the home.
Paul was happy to see you.
He sits down next to you and you ask where your child was.
“They’re with my dad, don’t worry.” he says quietly to you.
He kept a close he on you. He felt the anxiety, the tad bit of unsettling in your soul.
He decided to get it out of you once you two got home.
The baby was already asleep in your arms but you continued rocking in the rocking chair. You kept your nose near them. Their smell soothed you.
Paul peaked his head in the child’s bedroom.
He scooped the child out of your arms, lay his cheek on theirs and sniffing them before laying them gently in their crib.
You continued to rock and stared at a spot on the floor.
“You coming?” he whispered.
“Not now.” you whisper.
“What’s wrong?”
“Nothing. I’m trying to decompress.” you say.
“Let’s decompress together.” he says.
“….I’m in my feels right now. I just want to let it pass.” you say quietly.
“Y/N…Come out. Let’s talk about it”.
“Paul…Leave it.” you say tiredly. You don’t even look at him.
“Alright…I give you five minutes. If you’re not out of here, I’ll carry you out.”
“Deal.”
He takes his time to leave.
“So what was it?” he asked when you finally join him in the living room.
“Self doubt. Nothing new.” you say as you fiddled with your fingers as you sat on the couch, with a shrug trying not to remember what really happened. You shoved it down in your memory cabinet.
He tapped your forehead gently with his finger, “You and that head.”
“Yeah, yeah.” you say as you cracked a soft grin.
“So are you really going to tell me the truth?”
“Truth about what?”
He playfully rolled his eyes.
“Okay…You got into with Kim. That’s why you’re in your feels.”
You go quiet.
“Y/N..It’s okay. You don’t have to keep your feelings from me. You forget whatever you feel, I feel. Vice versa.”
“It’s irrelevant. She only reminded me why we’re not friends anymore. She’s a pocket watching son of a bitch.”
“Don’t waste your time on her. Don’t give her the satisfaction of seeing you upset. Just brush that shit off. Every time you react, she wins.”
You look down and nod.
He wetly kissed your cheek and you look at him with a smile.
He takes your hand and you’re caught off guard thinking he’s taking you to the bedroom, only to be led to the backyard.
He shoved his shorts down with a mischievous smile. You couldn’t help but smile and take off any clothing that you had on as well, you knew what he had in mind.
You both run and jump into the pool. You both come up with a belly laugh as you swam to each other.
Paul showed off tricks as he jumped in the pool. You both splashed at each other, making the most out of the backyard pool.
As he laughed at your failed attempt to flip into the pool like him, his face abruptly went serious.
“Shit.” he whispered and you follow him out of the pool.
“What’s wrong, Paul?”
“The baby’s crying.” he just simply says and you hurriedly pick up his shorts off of the ground as he went back in the house in a rush.
“I don’t know how you get them down so quick.” you whisper as you both watch the tiny baby slowly breathe in and out.
Paul stroked their cheek with a delicate finger, “Because I’m the best.”
“Oh, I’m in deep trouble if they inherit your cockiness.” you groan.
He gives you a brilliant smile.
Emily walked in the door with Claire.
“This is your house?” Claire asks excitedly. You nod with a smile.
“Where’s the baby?” she asks again but louder. You shush her gently.
“The baby is sleeping.” you whisper. She nods and tugs on your hand, “I want to see.” she says in a hushed voice.
You take her hand and creep into the room. The baby is on their back sleeping in their crib. You pick Claire up and let her see over the crib.
“So cute.” she squealed. You put her down after the baby starts to squirm.
“Claire. The baby is sleeping. You have to use your inside voice.” Emily whispers as she gently chastised her.
You stick the pacifier in their mouth and they rapidly suck on it before calming down their squirms.
“Come on, I want to show you something else.” you whisper to Claire. She takes your hand and you lead her to your art room.
She gasps in joy.
“All for you.” you smile.
She stared down at the picture with a big smile. Her favorite cartoon character was painted on a canvas and stared back at her.
“What do you say, Claire?” Emily says with a smile.
“Thank you.” she says shyly but she was still excited and couldn’t stop staring at it.
You stretch. Paul watched.
“You haven’t made art in a while…”
“It can wait.” you say breathlessly as you shift into another stretch. You were tired and felt like your body was cramped as you heard limbs popping from relief in your ears.
Paul comes behind you as you do a pike stretch while standing, he shifted his hips forward which makes you straighten up out of your stretch and chuckled out as you nudged him.
"I can stretch you out real good." he purred to you and clicked the TV off.
You put your hands on your hips as he comes close and pulls you to him. Your body automatically wobbled into him as he held you up. His mouth stayed on your neck as you clutch tightly to him. You sharply moan out his name as he grazed his teeth with the mark.
It made your legs wobbly, your heart beat to rise, almost making you feel faint but it was as if you finally reached heaven.
A crazy high that couldn’t be explained.
It felt like he was devouring your soul. Like, he was a monster eating your heart out. His mouth and tongue never detached from your core even when your hips lifted from the overwhelming sensation.
The mark on your hip was covered by Paul’s fingers as he gripped your hips to keep you from scooting back. It felt like you were going insane as your face was deep in the pillows beside you as you trembled like a person out in cold weather.
His lips and tongue continued to eat at you. His hands bringing you closer and closer to his face. You didn’t care if you sounded helpless as you strain his name out in a whisper.
Thankful that he wasn’t tender headed, your fingers danced and tugged at his hair. You felt like your body was about to fall apart as he moved his mouth up and open mouth kissed your mark on your hip.
You thought regular sex with Paul was amazing. You thought imprinted sex with Paul was amazing. Now this, this was amazing.
You both whispered each other’s names as he went slow. His body was glued to yours as he rolled his hips into yours. Your eyes nearly rolled back to the back of your head.
He then brings you over on top of him as you clutch his arms, you couldn’t make your body sit up, you felt too weak. He didn’t care. He moved his hips up as you wailed in pleasure for him. His hand was firmly on the lower part of your body as his other hand had a nice grip on the nape of your neck as he kept licking and kissing the mark that was on your lower neck.
It had you feel like you were in the rawness of an orgasm. Like your souls were intermixing. You whispered out and told him how much you loved him. You lost count of the shudders, but you shuddered once again, this time he shuddered out his own orgasm with you.
You cried. With actual tears. The emotions bursted out of you and he knew he did nothing wrong. You loved him that much. He felt it. Feeling your emotions in that moment and in general was something that he was grateful for. He cooed to you and held you close until your high came down.
Billy Black looked as if he was staring down at a precious gem.
“Just beautiful….Y/N, how could you ever hide something so precious?”
“Bad thinking…I promise it won’t happen again. I was acting immature.” you admit.
“Yeah. Very.” Jacob says as he comes out of his room. You roll your eyes as Billy chuckled.
Jacob was now holding them and tried to encourage them to say his name.
“That’s not how it works.” you say to Jacob.
“Afraid they’re going to say my name before their parent’s?”
“Whatever.” you say.
“Let’s take the little one on a little adventure to Bella’s. She should be home by now.”
Charlie couldn’t help but stare.
“I didn’t even know you were pregnant.” he says quietly with the beer bottle in his hand.
“Nobody did.” you say as you look down.
“They’re adorable.”
“Thank you. Want to hold them?” you ask and he immediately sets his beer bottle down and rushes to wash his hands.
“Looks just like you, kid.” Charlie says as he peered down at the child in his arms.
“Don’t tell Paul that.” you chuckle.
Charlie grinned.
The baby squirmed and blinked as Bella cooed and let them hold her finger.
Charlie left off to hang with Billy.
“Aw, Y/N he has your eyes…You would’ve never guessed a beautiful little baby could be produced with the help of Paul.”
"Jake, you're unbelievable." Bella chuckled.
“You know, I can’t wait until you have a kid. I’ll teach it how to cuss and be bad.” you say in a fake sappy voice.
“Okay, now that’s too much.” Jacob says and you chuckle at his face.
“I need my camera.” she gushed and slides off of her bed but she stopped, “Do you mind if we take pictures?”
“Bell, go ahead. These are memories.” you encouraged.
She smiles brightly and as she snapped photos the small child that was laying on their back on her bed, she shook her head with a grin, “Renee’s going to kill you, you know that right?”
You put both hands on your forehead as you hear her laugh.
“We should video call her.” Bella suggested.
“Let’s get this over with.” you whispered.
Bella set up her laptop, facing it for the camera to see everything.
Renee’s face was filled with excitement and joy as she saw you and Bella on the screen.
“Whose baby is that?” she asks as she leaned in a closer look of Jacob looked down at the small child.
“Take a guess.” Bella grinned.
“Isabella Marie Swan. That better not be your child.” she barked out.
You and Bella laugh as Bella shook her head, “No, mom. Y/N’s.”
She gasped with happiness, “Let me see! Let me see?”
She ah’ed and ooh’ed at the infant as it squirmed in Jacob’s arms.
“So beautiful.” her smile was bright until she contorted her face with disappointment.
“Y/N.” she says with hardness.
“Yes?”
“You were pregnant?!”
“Yeah.”
“Why am I the last to know?!” she asks.
“I’m sorry. I kind of…Kept it a secret from everyone..”
“And why would you do that?!”
You look down.
She gave you the third degree. Not letting up. Not letting you get a word in. It was as if she was your mother by how much she was angrily upset at you.
She let you know how much she’s upset that she was left out of a milestone.
“You’re coming down here. I need to see you and that baby. Do you hear me?”
“Yes.” you say in submission.
Before hanging up, she made you promise her pictures and that you would never do anything like that ever again. You give her your word.
“Oh, yeah. Bells is moving in with me and dad.” Jacob says as Bella is in the bathroom. He allowed the baby to be on their back on Bella’s bed. You hug him with a smile.
“Happy for you two. Now, we’re really going to be close.”
Jacob chuckled, “Yeah…Didn’t hide that one from you.”
You grab her pillow and wack him in the shoulder as he still continues to laugh.
“Too soon.” you groan.
“Never too soon with me. You know this.”
You playfully roll your eyes.
“Well, I’m happy. You guys can come over all the time now.”
The ancient voice reached your ears.
“He’s your Alpha. When Jacob rises to his position, he will be yours, leaving Sam to be the Beta.”
You stared at Old Quil in disbelief. He sat in his recliner as he held your child.
The child was asleep against his chest, mouth cracked open.
“Paul marked you. So, that’s why you stopped when Sam told you to. He’s your Alpha.”
“But, I’m not a wolf, though.”
“Still. You’re now apart of Paul. The imprint is just a watered down version compared to what a marked couple is.”
You nod.
“Wow…I genuinely couldn’t move….I messed up Kim’s face…I feel a bit bad.” you whisper.
“You only defended your mate. I would expect no less.” he says in his ancient voice.
Billy Black made his “famous” spaghetti.
At first you laughed at Jacob’s joke of his secret ingredient being Ragu sauce, but it was really good. Really good.
Jared told you that Kim decided to stay home. You apologize for hurting her but he shook his head.
“I don’t know what her problem is…Imprint or not, she was wrong. Paul’s my best friend…He’s not perfect…Far from it…At the end of the day, he’s still a human being….I’m glad he has someone like you that will be by his side forever. He needs someone that will defend him like that.”
Looking around at everyone chattering, everyone filled with smiles, you set your fork down.
Standing up and looking at everyone at the table, you sincerely apologize.
"I'm sorry to all of you. You all mean a lot to me and I am willing to earn each of your forgiveness. I was completely selfish about my actions. Nothing will be hidden in the dark from me and I have a lot of proving to do. To all of you.”
They appreciated your apology. They appreciated the fact that you owned up to your mistake of keeping such milestone a secret. Paul looked at you proudly. He held the child you two shared and gave you a subtle nod. You reward him with a warm grin.

pairing! park sunghoon x reader
genre! angst with a happy ending
synopsis! part two to return to sender. just as y/n seems to move on sunghoon manages to steal her heart…again.
wc! 2.8k
Tumblr media Tumblr media Tumblr media
the last few months of school were painfully embarrassing for you. not that anyone brought up the letters but you did share classes with a few of the boys who got one. jake, taehyun.. you never really got to properly talk about the letters with them but they understood. it was just a silly crush, nothing serious. you never met for those letters to see the light of day. the one person who’s letter actually did mean something wanted nothing to do with you. sunghoon, he ignored you at all costs even moved his seat. he truly met what he said to you.
when school finally let out for summer, you couldn’t wait to get away. away from the letters, away from sunghoon. or so you thought. that was until you got a summer job at the local ice cream shop. your first day on the job he walked in. park sunghoon walked in. his eyes landed on yours. before he could say anything to you the owner came from the back smiling widely. “oh sunghoon my dear i’m so happy to see you again.” your eyebrows furrowed in confusion.
‘’oh y/nie this is my nephew sunghoon he’s spent the last three summers here, he’ll be the one to train you!” you swear your heart dropped to your feet. he faked a smile for his aunt and as soon as she left the smile was replaced with a scowl. he quietly placed his apron on and started preparing cones. “look sunghoon i know i’m the last person you want to be working with, but i’d appreciate it if you’d try to work with me.” he let out a long sigh. his back muscles clenched. you could practically feel the tension in his shoulders.
“y/n you’re the last person i wanted to see here.” he spit. your heart ached just like the day he rejected you. “well i’m sorry to intrude on your summer job, but i need to save money for college so i’m not going anywhere.” he rolled his eyes. the two of you worked in awkward silence. this was how you spent most of your days.working together in silence.
after a few weeks you swear you felt him warming up to you. even after his rejection you still yearned to just be his friend. the shop was busy today. sunghoon and yourself was busy giving out cones and sundaes. You wasn’t aware of the ice cream on the floor until you slipped on it. a strong pair of arms grabbed your waist. your eyes met sunghoon’s and you swear your heart was beating out of your chest. you couldn’t tell if it was from his closeness or the fear of almost falling.
‘’you need to be more careful.” he said before returning to his task. you swore your heart beat never slowed down. when closing time finally rolled around you were more than ready to leave. you were putting away the washed ice cream scoopers when you felt him behind you. “here you forgot these.” he handed you two more scoopers. “oh thanks.” you mumbled. he nodded and put away the rest of the dishes.
the both of you hung up your aprons before leaving. he locked the door. “it’s late, do you need a ride home?” he asked, turning to you.smiling you nodded. “yeah that would be nice.” he nodded and you followed him to his car. you would have given him your address but he seemed to have known already. then it hit you, he remembered because of your letter. he pulled up to your house in silence and watched as you got out. “thank you.” you said.
“no problem i’ll see you tomorrow.” he said. you watched him pull away and you turned to your house. you grabbed the forgotten mail and shifted through it. bills, spam mail, but one envelope stood out to you. it was addressed to you. from your old middle school crush, jay park. he was your last crush before sunghoon. you traced the handwriting on the front. kicking off your shoes you took off to your room.
you used a paper cutter to open the letter. inside it was written on some plain notebook paper. the handwriting was sort of messy but eligible.
dearest, y/n
i have to say i was surprised to get your letter. i wanted to say of course i remember the time at the park whenever you fell off the swing and i patched up your scraped knees. you were crying and i gave you a band-aid. your smile that day was one i couldn’t forget. i remember thinking how i only ever wanted to see you smile. of course that was then. i’m glad you sent this letter out. i’m not too sure i was supposed to ever read the words you wrote, but i’m thankful.
i hope this letter finds you well. i hope that someday soon our paths will cross again, and if needed i’ll always have a band-aid in my pocket.
yours, jay
holding the letter to your chest you fell backwards onto your bed. your eyes closed the memories of that day in the park flooded your head. then your eyes snapped open. you have to write him back. but what would you say? a million different things to say raced through your mind all at once.
when your alarm for work went off you were already up piles of crumpled paper next to you. letting out a sigh you got dressed and did a light make up. when she arrived sunghoon was already inside setting up for the day. “hey y/n.” he greeted with a smile. it made your heart flutter. “hi.” you grabbed your apron and joined him behind the counter.
“so i was wondering something.” he said. his voice was distant because he was in the back room. “yeah?” you asked. he came from the back holding pints of ice cream. you grabbed one placing it on the counter. “there’s this small bonfire tonight, i was wondering if you’d want to come?” he asked. you smiled. “i’d love too!” he nodded. “yeah uh cool, i’ll pick you up later.”
the shop was having a slow day so you worked the register and sunghoon handled the ice cream. you were writing a reply to jay on a napkin from the store.
dear jay,
i was so delighted to receive your letter. i was surprised you wrote back but i’m glad you reached out. it was nice to hear from you after all this time. i also wish that our paths cross again as it would be nice to see you. i have to say i miss seeing you everyday at school but i hope life is treating you well. until i see you again.
yours, y/n
sunghoon stood behind you glaring at your words on the napkin. his chest felt tight. some other guy had the courage to say what he couldn’t and you were replying. he clenched his fist and slammed down an ice cream container, causing you to jump and turn to him. you could practically feel his anger radiating off of him. you didn’t understand because he was just fine moments ago.
“sunghoon are you okay?” you asked. his jaw was clenched. “i’m fine.” came his short reply. you didn’t push the subject but the rest of the day was full of short replies and the cold shoulder. you hoped that whatever was bothering him stopped before later or it would be one awkward night. when you got home you showered and dressed casually. you didn’t want to over dress but you also wanted to put in some effort, since he’d be there. you really felt that his feelings toward you were improving, and well you still had a small crush on the boy.
once you were dressed and ready you waited, and waited and waited. after an hour it became clear that he wasn’t coming. you sat on your porch stairs trying to keep in tears. you should have known, but with how nice he’s been you were hoping he would show up anyway. with a heavy heart you went inside and locked the door. you cried yourself to sleep that night.
the next day you made it to work before sunghoon which was rare. he must of been out late. you sighed and began the prep to open the store. sunghoon came in about twenty minutes later. he looked tired and he didn’t say anything at first.”how was the bonfire?” you asked. he was quiet. “i wouldn’t know, i didn’t go.” he said. you faced him. “you could have said something.” he rolled his eyes. “it doesn’t matter y/n. let’s just get to work.”
during your break you sealed your reply to jay and addressed the envelope. you planned to mail it after work. you left the letter in your locker and returned to your spot behind the counter, relieving sunghoon for his break. sunghoon opened your locker by mistake and noticed the envelope. a frown took over his face and he grabbed the letter. he couldn’t help himself.
he changed the address so the letter would never reach the boy. sunghoon couldn’t stand the idea of you with someone that wasn’t him. if tampering your letter meant getting another chance with you then that’s what he’d do, and he did. sunghoon placed the letter back in your locker before joining you behind the counter.
after work you dropped the letter off at the post office before heading home. you were excited for jay to receive the letter. it was nice to talk to him again.
it had been a week since you mailed the letter, you had gotten nothing back from jay. at first you were a little upset but soon you forgot about even mailing it in the first place. it was a busy day at the shop but you and sunghoon had gotten used to it. you were cleaning up the counter when the bell above the door rang. you looked up and your jaw dropped. there he stood, jay park. your old middle school crush. his eyes scanned the room before they landed on you. he smiled and made his way over to you. “y/n.” he said. you stared at him. “jay, hi.” the name caught sunghoon’s attention. he stood back watching you.
“what, what are you doing here?” you asked. he smiled. “well when you never replied to my letter i decided to come see you, i went to your house and your mom said you’d be here.” you stared at him. never replied? impossible you spent so long thinking of what to say. “i did send you a letter back.” he shrugged. “must of been the wrong address, that’s okay i’m here now.” he smiled. you smiled back.
sunghoon cleared his throat effectively catching your attention. he had an unreadable look on his face. it was a cross between anger and some other emotion you couldn’t put your finger on. “uh jay this is sunghoon, sunghoon this is jay.” you said. “Hey.” jay said. all sunghoon did was nod his head. the bell rang with more customers. “look man we are busy if you could order something that would be nice if not then leave.” sunghoon said with venom in his tone.
jay stared back before putting his hands up. “i’m good man, just wanted to see an old friend.” he backed away. “well you’ve seen them now you can leave.” you’re eyes went wide. who did he think he was? “right, anyway see you y/n.” jay waved before leaving. sunghoon ignored your stare as he tended to the customers that walked in. he proceeded to act like nothing happened for the rest of the day.
when it was finally time to close, you decided it was time to confront him. “sunghoon what the hell was that earlier?” you asked. “he was holding up the line.” he replied. you let out a bitter laugh. “no that's not what i mean and you know it.” he sighed. “he was trying to get you back, i had to do something.” he said his eyes glued to his feet. “sunghoon what the hell are you talking about, i haven’t seen him since middle school.” he scoffed. “save it i seen the letter, i mean seriously?” he was pacing now.
“so what if i was sending letters to jay, you have no right to be angry right now.” you were getting angry now. how dare he after all he’s said. “i am angry, i’m jealous.” you furrowed your eyebrows. “jealous?” you asked. he tugged at his hair. “yes! i’m jealous because he had the courage to do what i couldn’t.” he snapped. you felt the tears well in your eyes. “and what was that?” you asked with a shaky voice. “to tell you how i feel about you. god y/n i like you so much.” you swear your heart was going to beat out of your chest.
“well you sure have a funny way of showing it.” you spat. “remember you said you don’t want to date me, you never will.” you threw his words back at him. the ones that played in the back of your mind each time you looked at him and felt your heart flutter. it was a painful reminder of that day he threw your letter and heart on the ground and crushed it. “y/n.” he started but you put your hand up.
“don’t sunghoon.” you couldn’t hear anything else. you gathered your bag and walked towards the door. his hand wrapped around your wrist. “y/n please let me explain.” his voice is now shaky. you stared at where he held you. “i was scared when i read your letter, no one has ever felt that way about me before, and my friend were laughing at me. i didn’t mean to hurt you but so many emotions were happening it once, so i took the cheap way out.”
you scoffed and shook off his hold. “now that’s pathetic.” you spit his words back at him once again before leaving. sunghoon tugged at his hair. he hated watching you walk away from him again crying. he hated hurting you, but that’s all he ever seemed to do. there was only one thing he could do. he grabbed a pen and paper.
my dearest, y/n
i’ve never really done this before. i didn’t really know how else to say this. everytime i open my mouth i always seem to hurt you. so i figured i’d give this a try. y/n i like you. i like whenever our fingers brushed against each other in class passing papers. i like when you always greet me with a smile even though i’ve been shitty to you. i like that you make me smile with your cute laugh. i like the way you dress, the way you are always you.
i hate what i said to you that day. truthfully your words scared me because no one has ever cared for me that way before. i hope that i didn’t ruin everything between us, and that it’s not to late, because if you’d let me i’d really like to take you on a date, and make you mine.
always yours, sunghoon
your tears fell onto the paper, your neighbor had dropped it off after it ended up in her mail. the mailman had the wrong address.it had been a few days since you been to the ice cream shop. you slipped on your shoes and ran there. the letter still in your grasp. sunghoon was locking the door when you ran up. he turned to see you out of breath with teary eyes. his eyes drifted to the letter in your hand. he was starting to think you got it but threw it out.
“y/n..” he began but you cut him off by placing your lips on his. sunghoon’s eyes were wide before they closed and he kissed you back. his arms gripped your hips and your arms wrapped around his neck. when you pulled away he chased your lips causing you to giggle and placed your forehead against his.
“does this mean i get to take you on that date?” he whispered. you smiled and nodded. “i’d like that more than anything.” he smiled and pulled you closer by your waist. he titled your chin up and placed his lips on yours. “p.s i still like you.” he smiled. “good, it would be one awkward date if you didn’t.” you laughed and followed him to his car. you weren’t expecting your summer to go this way but one thing was for sure, you were glad to get that letter, it gave you sunghoon.

⋇⊶⊰ “WE CAN’T!” ⊱⊷⋇
Tumblr media Tumblr media Tumblr media
pairing: classmate!jake x fem!reader
genre: smut
summary: it’s graduation day, the day you’d been dreaming of for four years. and not just because it was a conclusion to your degree. you found yourself in the stationery closet of your schools’ main hall with a boy you’d been ogling over this entire time. but you had to make it quick!
warnings: unprotected sex, creampie, public sex, reader wearing dress. 800 words
“we can’t!” you hushed, your eyes darting between jake and the door.
“but i want to,” jake's hands sat firmly in his pockets while he shrugged. his lips turned into a downward pout with the slightest of smirks to it as he searched your eyes. despite your worry, you clearly wanted him. bad.
“what if someone catches us?” you looked up to the boy in front of you, who didn’t seem to care.
“who’s gonna come in here, y/n? it’s a pitch black stationery closet and they’re all out there having fun anyway,” he got closer, “besides, don’t you want to celebrate our graduation?” his question aired over your lips, tickling at them which drew you in closer. you got onto your tiptoes as jake’s lips met with yours in a flurry of passion and desire.
he took his hands from his pockets, instead hurriedly undoing his belt and unzipping his suit pants. no time for foreplay, he stretched your skin tight, but formal, dress over your thighs, up to your hips before caressing your breasts over it.
“why did you always wear baggy clothes to class?” he broke the kiss to ask, “your body,” “you’re so,” hot,” “y/n,” he said between kisses, unable to pull away from you for too long. hoping it would stop him from kissing you all night long, he ordered “turn around for me,” , his hand now holding yours above your head as you twirled under it. he looked you up and down, biting his lip. he knew later that day he’d be thinking about how lucky he was to be able to have you, but right now all he could think about was filling you up.
with your front pressed to the only bare wall in the small closet, you turned back to see jake take some spit of his own and wipe it over the head of his dick.
“we need to be quick,” you rushed, slipping a hand down to your clit at the sight.
taking your panties to the side, he reassured with his lips to the back of your neck. “don’t worry, y/n,” he lined himself up with your entrance and pushed his way in, your free hand coming to the wall for support, “fuck, you’re soaking already.”
“yeah,” you moaned slightly as he tried to let you adjust to his size. he pushed you flat against the wall, trapping your own hand which stopped you from rubbing your clit. he mouthed kisses against the back of your neck, groaning and growling between them as you felt him grow inside you.
realising you hadn’t got much time, his hands grabbed at your hips, pulling you further onto his dick. your ass slapped against his hips with each thrust, the fear of getting caught only adding to the enjoyment.
your middle finger started working on your clit again once you’d gotten used to the pace, and it wasn’t long before you were throbbing around him. his dick was almost doing the same in response, his shaft pulsating inside of you. you felt him try to pull out, knowing he didn’t want to cum so soon, but you pushed back, just in time for the sweet sound of his groan. he pulled out, a few drops of cum falling to the cold flooring, the rest inside of you. you pulled your panties over your filled pussy, adjusting them with your finger as jake rubbed your clothed clit. he gave it a few gentle slaps before putting his pants back on and buckling his belt. you turned back around to face him, he chucked before putting your dress right, then running his thumb over your stained lips.
“you look like you just got fucked in a stationery cupboard,” he commented with a laugh, taking in the view in front of him.
you pulled out a pocket mirror from your bag and, to the best of your ability in the dark, tried to fix your lipstick. “yeah, well your fly is down,” you laughed back.
he quickly fixed it before checking himself. he opened the door and let you leave first. he followed a few minutes after, spotting you in the hall talking with your family, as if nothing even happened. he gulped, hoping he could be even half as composed as you, but couldn’t help but brush past you and apologise in an overly friendly manner, knowing that you’d now have to tell your parents who he was.

As soon as Jake came home tonight from the studio, you knew something was off.
He wouldn’t meet your gaze and went straight up the stairs without saying anything to you. you decided to leave him alone, you figured he had a bad day.
Jake had the opposite, he had been painfully hard, due to the polaroid of your wide open legs in his wallet. He went to get a coffee before he came home and opened his wallet, the first thing he saw was your cunt.
Jake had been upstairs for a good half hour now and his dinner was getting cold. you made smash burgers with mac and cheese, his favorite.
You called out for him and waited for a few minutes. you heard your bedroom door open, followed by his footsteps.
Jake sat down at the kitchen table with you, “Hey baby, sorry. Needed a minute, how was your day?”
You smiled at him and told him all was well and told him about your day. “I did a few shots today, I got so sad at all the babies crying around me, but luckily they’ll be okay.” You were a pediatrician at the children’s clinic downtown. You loved your job, you got to take care of children.
You and Jake barely spoke at dinner, you knew something was still wrong. You picked up your glass and went in for a sip. Mid sip, Jake asked you, “How would you feel about starting an OnlyFans?”
You choked on your IPA, patting your chest a few times. “Are you being serious, jake?”
He nodded and continued, “We’d literally be having sex, recording it and getting money for it. Imagine how many views we’d get, babe!”
“That's not what I'm concerned about, Jake! I'm a pediatrician, not a pornstar!”
“Quit your job, we can fuck all day long and record it. Do it for me, babe.”
“I know you did not just tell me to quit my job. I love my job and I worked hard for my title and that is asking way too much. I will never quit my job because you want to parade your cock around on the internet. end of conversation, I’m done.”
You got up from the table and grabbed your plate, throwing it into the sink before walking upstairs to shower. You locked both the bedroom door and the bathroom door, not wanting to be bothered. You turned the shower on and stepped in, washing away the day.
Somehow, Jake managed to find a way into the bathroom. He snuck into the shower, trying not to soak his phone in the process. He pressed his body up against yours, startling you. He put his front camera in your face and used his other hand to grab your jaw.
“Look at my pretty sex kitten, all gorgeous for me. Who's my pretty girl?”
He cocked your head towards him and held your mouth open and let a trail of spit trickle from his mouth to yours. You swallowed it as best you could with your mouth being forcefully held open.
He moved his camera down your body, keeping his hand on your jaw. He stopped moving the camera at your breasts, he removed his hand from your jaw and moved it down to touch your nipples.
“Pretty jeweled nipples. What are those, kitten? Butterflies?”
You nodded and bit your lip while smiling. Your action made jake move the camera back up to your face. “Pretty doll face. Show em your tongue, Princess.”
You stuck your tongue out and showed the camera. “Look how pretty. Glows too, huh?” he said, more like a question.
You smiled again and he maneuvered to stand in front of you. “Get on your knees for me, sugar plum?” you instantly groveled to his feet, always ready to please him.
He grabbed your cheek while holding his camera to your face. He used his thumb to rub up and down on the side of your face. “Such a good girl. Open your mouth.”
You followed his orders and opened your mouth. He inserted his thumb into your mouth and you wrapped your lips around him. You swirled your tongue on the tip, lightly suckling.
“God, you are a wet dream, kitten. Wanna suck my cock, baby?” he asked you, slowly pulling his thumb out of your mouth, spit trailing from your lips.
You nodded and moved closer to his body, grabbing onto his thighs and kissing them, making sure to leave all your love.
Ever so gently, you left little hickies on his waist. You moved your head back to look at the art you created before he firmly grabbed the side of your neck and forced your head toward his cock.
“I've been waiting all day to come home to get my cock sucked. Stop stalling, it gets you fucking nowhere. Suck, sugar plum.”
You pressed your hands into the tile floor and gently took his pillowy soft tip into your mouth. He threw his head back in pleasure, threading his free hand through your hair.
“Fuck, you look so hot with a cock in your mouth. Show me those pretty eyes, sugar plum.”
You flashed your y/e/c eyes at him and very slowly bobbed your head up and down on him and skimmed the vein on the underside of him with your tongue. He harshly grabbed your hair and yanked your head back to look at him.
“What a slut, always ready to serve her master. Am I your master, sweetheart?”
You pulled away from him to answer, but he pushed your head all the way down until his tip touched your throat. “Stop, keep me warm.” You stopped all your movements and kept him in the back of your throat for a few seconds, slowly getting bored.
You gently tapped his ankle, silently asking if you could touch him. “Yes peach, you can touch me. I need you to touch me,” he pleaded for your touch, letting his submissive side peek out.
You put your hands on his waist and pulled away from him. “No, baby. Why’d you stop,” he whined out for you. You looked up and down at him and whispered, “Relax, I just wanna look at you.”
He gripped his hand tightly in your hair. “God, I fucking love you. You look so sexy when you suck my cock, pretty eyes looking right at me.”
You were growing impatient, you needed Jake and you needed him now. You pulled off of him and quickly rose to your feet, sitting on the small bench that accompanied the shower. Jake was quick to film you as you opened your legs, waiting for him to catch your drift.
“Need me to eat your pretty cunt, sugar? You need your master to eat your pussy so bad?”
You nodded swiftly, “Yes, I want you so bad.”
“Hold on baby, hold on. Don't you always get what you want? Remember that one hundred and twenty five thousand dollar car, the five thousand dollar purse, the Louboutin’s, the two million dollar house, don't I always give you what you want?”
“Yes baby, of course I remember. You always give me whatever I want.”
“Good, now shut up.” he said, smacking the outside of your thigh when he lowered his face to your cunt. He made eye contact with you before connecting his lips to your clit. He set the phone in your hand and turned it towards his face, making you watch him through a screen.
You laced your fingers through his wet hair, gripping his hair and pulling his mouth off of you. “What’s wrong, baby? You don't want me to eat your gorgeous pussy? You know how much I love eating this pussy? Sucking on your clit, running my tongue right down,” he said, dragging his digit through your slit, collecting your nectar. He continued before you could speak, “You taste so fucking sweet, like honey. Kitten’s got a sugar sweet pussy. Look at you baby, she's puckering, she wants a kiss. Should I give her a kiss?” You stroked his hair and nodded, biting your lip at his words. He gave a wet kiss to your pussy and inhaled deeply.
“She smells good too.” He flashed his beautiful brown orbs at you before begging to continue. “Please, kitten. I need it so bad, more than you.” You lowered his head back down before turning his phone off, cutting off the video. “No one can see you, Jakey. Only me, I'm the only one allowed to watch.”
“Mm, yeah you are kitten”
He wrapped his lips around your clit and sucked hard, making your back arch and your toes curl. He removed one of his hands from your thigh and moved it up your body towards your chest, flicking and pulling on one of the butterfly charms on your nipples on the way up. He grabbed onto your cross pendant and put it in your mouth, biting your clit to tell you what to do, putting his hand back on your thigh.
You took the gold cross between your teeth and bit, your moans pushing through your teeth. “I can feel you pulsing, sugar. Thighs warming my ears, pushing my head closer to you. I fucking love you, kitten. Getting close, my love?”
You nodded as his gaze met yours. He removed his hand from your thigh once more, coming to rub your clit as he sucked you dry. Your legs started shaking around his head, unknowingly signaling to Jake that you were close and it was coming soon. He stopped and curled his fingers deep inside you, frenetically fingering you until your ass was about to come off the bench. He quickly stopped and sat behind you on the bench, supporting you from behind before burying his fingers back inside you.
“I know, baby. I know, I know! Cum for me, my love, I know you can. You're doing so good, such a good job, love.” He said to you, guiding you through what he knows as the toughest part. He grabbed the cross from your mouth, letting you moan out. He grabbed his phone and quickly turned the camera on.
He motioned the camera towards your face, “Look at my pretty, sexy girl. Ready to cum, gonna soak my fingers, sexy baby?” He moved his phone down towards your cunt and got the perfect angle of his digits fucking you.
He pumped his fingers in and out of you repeatedly, his rhythm never faltering. You got a weird feeling in your stomach, something you never felt before. You looked up at Jake to see if he felt it too, grinning from ear to ear, as if he knew what was going to happen. He shoved the camera into your hand and used his free hand to hold you up.
“Fuck me, Jake, I’m gonna cum!”
“Let it out, my sweet baby. Don't be afraid, soak my hand. I want it so bad,” he whispered in your ear.
Your vision went white and all you heard was a loud splash and Jake, “good girl, baby. You did so fucking good, such a good girl. Did you see that?” He lifted you up slightly to get out from behind you. “Did you see that, baby?”
You shook your head and looked at him, silently telling him to tell you. “You fucking squirted, all over my hand. Fuck, I got it on video. I can watch it over and over again.” He kneeled in front of you and placed his hands on your knees, “I'm gonna be honest, baby. It's taken me a lot to not bend you over on this shower floor, cause I'm thinking about it.”
That's all the ammunition you needed “Do it Jakey, I want it right here.” You said to him through gritted teeth. He smirked and roughly grabbed you by the hair, pushing you down to the shower floor. You immediately dropped to your hands and knees and arched your back, displaying all to the camera.
“Look at that pretty ass. Pretty little hole my sweet baby has.” He declared to the camera, as if he was talking to someone other than you. He cracked his heavy hand down on your ass check before rubbing it with force, making your body slightly jolt forward. “Not to mention, that pretty pussy,” he stated all while focusing on you.
You gyrated your hips closer to his cock, about ready to push him on his back and fuck him yourself. “Patience, kitten. Only good girls who listen get fucked, got it?”
You rolled your eyes and nodded, all for Jake to grab your hair and pull you up towards him. “Was that a fucking eye roll? Did you just roll your eyes at me? Do it again and I will leave you here, all alone and wet and I’ll go fuck my hand on our bed to that pretty video I have, understood? Keep it up, see what happens.”
“Yes, sir. I won't do it again,” you said, lying right to his face. He let go of your hair and cracked down on your ass before you fell right back down to your hands and knees. He talked to himself, “talk to me like that, fuck around and find out, Princess.” You rolled your eyes yet again, hoping he didn't see. “We’re done. What did I say?” He asked you, standing up and turning you around and grabbing your chin roughly.
You sighed loudly and snarkily said, “I promise I'll never ever do it again, pinky swear.”
“Liar. Now you don't get shit, you fucked around and found out.”
“Please, Jakey! I won't do it again, I promise.” You got on your knees and begged, clasping your hands together and looked up at him through your eyelashes. “Yeah, I'm sure you won't.” He said as he begrudgingly turned the shower off. “Get on the bed, turn towards the headboard, on your knees. Keep your mouth shut. I don’t want to punish you, so do what I say.”
“Yes, sir.” you said to him, groping his crotch on the way to the bed.
“Get going, you little minx.”
You followed his simple instructions and did what he asked. He went into your closet and reached up, grabbing the old shoe box where you kept all your things. You couldn't see what he was taking, so you followed his instructions and faced forwards.
“Alright sweet girl, close your eyes for me and hold your wrists out for me,” he instructed you. You ejected your arms out towards him and he held your wrists close together and secured them tightly.
“Hold them out, towards the top of the head board,” you did exactly that, as you were sure your comforter was soaked at this point and all you wanted was his cock.
He laced the last silk tie through the gaps in the headboard and tied your wrists to it. Jake walked over to the large dresser you had and set up his phone to record.
“Look at you, my sexy girl. All tied up and useless. Good for nothing except fucking.”
You kept your mouth shut, not wanting to disobey him. “You're already doing so much better, keeping your slutty mouth shut, like a good girl.” He came up to you and leaned down to make eye contact with you. He gave you a gentle kiss and lowly said, “I'll go easy, okay? I know you're sensitive.”
You let a tear fall at his words. He quickly wiped it away and kissed your face.
He slowly got off the bed from where you were and got on the bed behind you. He lightly kneaded your ass, kneeling down and lightly pecked your asscheeks.
“God, baby, I love you so much.”
You looked back at him with pleading eyes, “You can say it, kitten.”
“I love you too, Jakey, so much.”
He smiled softly and grabbed his cock. “You ready for me, my love? Sure as hell wet enough, I'll tell you that.” You laughed lightly and turned your head back around to face the headboard, bracing yourself for what was about to come.
You nodded, “Mhm, I'm ready.” He stroked his tip through your slit, getting his cock wet with your slick.
He took his time pushing his cock into you, letting you adjust the best you could.
His thrusts started soft and full of the love and admiration he had towards you. He could call you the dirtiest, grossest names in the book but at the end of the day, he was utterly in love with you.
“Oh, fuck... you feel so good wrapped around my cock. A beautiful pussy made just for me. Fits me so well.” He was speaking through moans and grunts as he slowly picked up his pace.
Your replies were just soft and almost non-decipherable whines. His cock never failed you and you were still so shocked that you squirted all over Jake in the bathroom.
You noticed Jake's thrusts becoming more and more frequent, his cock hitting the deepest it could now go. As they became harsher, your hold on reality started to slip. In no time your mind would start to haze and become utterly useless.
Jake's hand landed on your ass as he became faster, leaving a stinging sensation on your skin which would be soothed with a soft rub.
“Oh, my poor baby. Listen to you! So fucking- ugh- needy and desperate.” It was obvious Jake was succumbing to his own pleasure. Barely being able to speak through the noises his satisfaction brought himself.
The view under him was something he was sure to be heaven on Earth. You were bound to the restraint he had put onto you and you sounded so fucking beautiful. Mixed in with the wet noises his cock was creating pushing and pulling out of you.
Your body had tensed up, preparing itself for the immense pleasure that was about to course through it.
“C’mon now, baby, I can feel it. Give it to me.” His voice was coarse and deep, enough to send you spiraling over the edge.
Your hands pulled at the ribbons tying you to the bed frame but it was no use. The pleasure was ground shattering. You felt like it was running amok in your veins, seeping into your blood stream.
Jakes hand went under you, toying at your clit and easing your through your orgasm.
His hips stopped momentarily.
“Can you give me another one, sugar plum?”
“Yes, I can, Jake…please.” You nodded your head as you ignored the aching in your shoulders. You needed another one so bad, you craved it.
Jake didn't ease into this one. His hips were plunging into you, harsh and deep. You swore you could feel it in your stomach.
“Oh god! Please Jake!! Fuck!” You were already so overstimulated, you didn't even attempt to quiet yourself and you knew Jake had no issue with it.
Jake always took pride in how well he was able to fuck you. He knew you like the back of his hand and by God it was his biggest honor.
Jake himself was so close to letting his orgasm take over.
“Jake! Please, please give it to me. I wanna fucking feel you.” You cried, you wanted nothing more than to feel him pump you full.
Jake let go, letting his load coat your insides. His fingers digging into your ass while doing so.
You were so overwhelmed with pleasure you let yourself go once more.
“Good job, baby. You did so good, so good for me,” he let out a multitude of praises, “so fucking good, such a obedient girl.” He had his hand under your stomach to support you before pulling out and laying you down on the bed.
He immediately got you a pair of panties. He put them on for you and said, “gotta keep my babies in there, wanna make you a mamma.” He grabbed his phone and stopped recording, bringing the very special tape over for the two of you to watch later.
You smiled at him and brought your hand to the side of his head and stroked his hair. “I love you, Jakey.”
“I love you most, sugar plum.” He laid down next to you in bed and rested his hand on your breast, holding it for comfort.
“You're never gonna let go of the fact that you bought me a car, are you”
“Not until the day I die, baby."

Words: 5.4k words
NOT EDITED, SO I MAY GO BACK AND EDIT LATER (teehee)
------------------------------------------------------------------------------
You hadn’t been on a date in at least a year. What do you even wear to a non-official date with your co-worker?
You were going to a fairly fancy restaurant, so casual was out of the question. It was down to two options. The red or black dress.
You had done your hair and makeup nicer than you normally do for work, it was fun getting dressed up like this after work.
Just like you had planned, Jeonghan rang your doorbell right at eight. To which you opened it to see him in a dress shirt, holding a bouquet of flowers.
“Good evening Doctor. L/N. These are for you,” he smirked, bowing and then handing the flowers to you. They were beautiful lilies with a few tulips scattered in the bouquet.
“Come in, I just need a few more things,” you said, opening the door more for him to slip himself in. He immediately darted for the couch and layed down.
“I had an awful shift today. Someone double booked me and I had to do back-to-back surgeries right at the end. Please tell me you had a better day.”
“Somewhat. No double surgeries, but I did skip out on my lunch break, so I’m starving,” you said, making sure that your earrings were on correctly and grabbed your purse. “Now, I’ve waited on you long enough.” Jeonghan smiled, and got off of the couch offering his arm.
“So tell me. Why did you ask me out?” Jeonghan asked, taking a sip of his wine. You took a minute. You didn’t want to say it was to try and “get over” his best friend, so you brought up the other truth.
“My therapist challenged me to make one new friend by our next session next month,” you admitted.
“You don’t have any friends here?” He questioned again.
“Well now I do. You, Joshua, Rose, Jake. You’ve all been very nice to me. I would consider you my friend.”
“Am I just a friend?”
The question caught you off guard, and made you choke on the wine you had just sipped. You quickly brought your napkin to your mouth to prevent spitting on him and coughed.
“I’m sorry. I wasn’t expecting that question.” Jeonghand had a smirk on his face, but was patient while you wiped your lips. “To be honest, I didn’t think this was a date until Jake told me. He was eavesdropping on our conversation and told me to “have fun on my date”.”
“It’s only a date if you want it to be.” He was smooth, putting the ball in your court.
“I think calling it a date would be fun, but I’m going to be honest. I can’t promise another date,” you warned.
“I expect nonetheless,” he chuckled, holding up his wine to cheer you with.
“Cheers?”
“Cheers. To making new friends.” You chuckled at his statement and took a sip of wine before your food came.
------------------------------------------------------------------------------
“How was the date?” Joshua asked, walking up to you at the Ped’s desk. You had just finished your rounds and was about to start prepping for your first surgery.
“Dinner was good, thank you for asking,” you said, Joshua chuckled but nodded. “Just trying to make some friends.”
“I’m your friend. Am I not?”
“This is the first time you’ve called me your friend, but I guess you are now,” you said, not looking up from your tablet which caused Joshua to dramatically exhale.
“What surgery do you have first?” He asked, trying to change the subject.
“A poor little girl who has 3rd degree burns is looking for a skin graft. Jeonghan and I are going to try and give her a skin graft and then try to get her to generate new skin.” Joshua’s face soured at the mention of his best friend.
“Good luck. That sounds like a rough case.” You nodded. When doing rounds you saw the poor girl who was in pain by just speaking due to the blistered and bleeding skin.
“I asked Jeonghan to start without me. Watching her during rounds was awful. I don’t know if I could watch her when she was being put to sleep,” you scoffed.
“Jeonghan is pretty good at cases like that. He’s good at detaching himself when he needs to,” Joshua said, ‘I gotta get going to my first surgery, but good luck with yours!”
You nodded and waved goodbye as he hustled down the hallway. What did Joshua mean when he said Jeonghan was good at detaching himself?
I guess you’d have to find out by being his friend. Or potentially more.
About an hour passed when you were paged to finally head into surgery. Jeonghan had sedated the girl and had already started the skin grafting. You were kinda just there in case anything went wrong and as an extra hand.
Plastics is way out of your knowledge.
“How’d it go?” You asked, as Lia gowned and gloved you.
“It was hard on her, but she fell asleep fast. Let’s just hope we only have to do this once for her sake,” Jeonghan noted. He hadn’t looked up from her face yet, but you could tell he was pretty focused, so you didn’t say anything else.
“Okay. I’ve got the burnt and dead skin off. Let’s get that skin graft on and can you start prepping the fluid for the regen process?” Lia nodded and started getting out syringes and brushes.
“I can help with the grafting,” you offered.
“Sure,” Jeonghan nodded. You carefully picked up the individual strips of graft and carefully put the piece on her cheek bone. Then Jeonghan quickly took a bowl or solution and a brush and brushed over the graft to ensure it would stay and in hopes that it would spark regeneration underneath. “Perfect. Just like that, good job Doctor. L/N.”
------------------------------------------------------------------------------
“He let me do a skin graft Joshua,” you exclaimed, clearly excited.
“That’s exciting,” he said, clearly not as excited as you, but trying to be nice about it.
“And he said that he could already see signs that the regeneration process will go well and that she can grow her own skin!” Joshua smiled and looked up from his tablet.
“Congratulations on the successful surgery,” he said, before moving away.
“Wait? Did I do something wrong?” You asked. Confused where his cold attitude was coming from.
“I lost my patient. She had a stroke and died on the table. So while I am happy that you did something new and saved YOUR patient, I’m trying not to be sad or angry that I lost mine,” he said, not briefly looking at you before looking to the ground and walking away.
Leaving you to feel like a jerk.
“What just happened?” Jeonghan asked, taking a seat next to you. He had seen the entire interaction take place.
“I was just telling Joshua about the skin graft, but he was going through a hard time and had to leave,” you said, not wanting to make Joshua out to be the bad guy or share your interaction entirely.
“Ahh I see. Joshua tends to bottle up his feelings and then they come crashing down all at once. Maybe he was upset because he hasn’t been in a while,” Jeonghan explained, leaning against the desk. “Are you okay?”
“Yeah, of course,” you stuttered, “Just a little shaken up.”
------------------------------------------------------------------------------
“Doctor Y/N!” Jonah exclaimed, as you rushed into your first patient's room. “He’s seizing!”
“Roll him on his side and push 10 milligrams of diazepam,” you ordered, as Jonah nodded and rolled the boy to his side. You quickly listened to his heart beat before moving to the side so that Jake could push the medication. A few moments later the boy stop seizing and stilled.
“Can you book a CT scan for him Jake?” He nodded and left the room while you looked at his chart. The CT scan you had was almost three days old. A lot can change in that time.
When the boy Michael was in the machine, Joshua popped his head into the room.
“Ah sorry, I’ll come back later.”
“No, we’re almost done. Just be a minute or two,” you tried to argue.
“No, I was just wanting to copy some scans to study and teach Carter,” he said, pointing to his intern. Kennedy Carter.
“Well why don’t you both come in and try and help me find out what’s causing the boy’s seizures?” You suggested, as Josua looked to Kennedy, who was nodding. “He’s been having seizures for the past two weeks. One more and I'm scared he won't come back.”
Kennedy looked at the scans as Joshua looked at her charts.
“Epilepsy?” Kennedy suggested, but Joshua shook his head.
“His scans eliminate that and his charts say that he’s been in a stable environment for over a week. Did you page Doctor. Xu?” Joshua asked, as you nodded your head.
“He suggests that we do a removal of the section that stimulates the seizures. That because he’s so young that his brain will adapt and make up for the missing section,” you say, “like a modern day lobotomy.”
“That sounds crazy,” Kennedy chuckled.
“It sounds like the best option, because we can’t figure out what’s causing the seizures,” you say, “we’re done now Albert. We’re going to get you back to the room.”
Albert nodded and closed his eyes as the nurses transported him to another bed and rolled him back to his room. You only stayed a few more moments to finish some charts, but moved out of the way for Joshua and Kennedy.
“I’m looking forward to the party Friday. Will you be there?” Joshua asked, interrupting your charting. You had gotten the invitation from Vernon, but hadn’t given it much thought, but it was Tuesday, you probably should let him know.
“I think so, “ you muttered, “I’ll be a little late, I don’t get off till 10.”
“I’ll save you a drink then,” Joshua grinned, as you looked up from your charting, a light blush spreading across your cheeks. You quickly glanced at Kennedy, who was smirking, but luckily, she didn’t say anything.
“Doctor. Xu, are you sure this is the only way we can prevent seizures?” Albert’s mother asked. Mingaho sighed, but nodded.
“Albert’s condition is quite rare, we can’t get to the bottom of why he’s seizing so often. So we figured that stopping them all together would be better than letting them go on while we think of what’s causing them.” You nodded.
“I agree with Doctor. Xu. The long we wait, the harder it gets on Albert. He’s lucky to remain as intact as he is,” you admit, “the sooner we act, the better.”
Alberts mother sighs and looks to her husband. Alberts Stepfather.
“Alright, just help our boy,” he says as you and Minghao both nod.
“Of course,” you smiled, “we’re going to go take him up now. If you want to say a few words, now would be the time.” Albert’s mother nodded and darted into his room while her father gathered her purse and coat before going in.
“Have you ever done this before Minghao?” You asked, watching Albert’s mother and father wrap him in a hug. Minghao looked around and grabbed your elbow before guiding you down a little further, assumingly away from the family.
“No, but this is our only option,” he whispered, “Doctor. Jeon is the only one who has done it, but only once and he refused to do it again.” You sighed and nodded. This wasn’t going to be easy or fun.
------------------------------------------------------------------------------
Scrubbing in was always the worst part of surgeries. It took, what felt like forever. All any surgeon wanted to do was dive right in and start operating, but sanitization was just as important as anything else.
So when you were scrubbing in for your surgery you looked up at the gallery to see Joshua and Kennedy.
Great. Something else to think about.
“Are you going to the party on Friday?” A voice sounded from beside you, breaking you out of your thoughts. It was Minghao.
“I am. I just told Vernon,” you answered, “what about you?”
“Yup, I wasn’t going to at first but Joshua convinced me. Told me that there was a new type of spiked tea that he was bringing,” he chuckled. That’s right, Mingaho Xu was a yoga, meditating, tea lover when he wasn’t operating on brains.
“Then I’ll see you at the tea kettle,” you joked as he chuckled and nodded at you before heading into the OR.
Maybe making friends wasn’t as hard as you thought.
Once Mingaho had opened Albert’s brain up, he took a few moments to make sure everything was in order before starting to cut a good section out of the left side of the brain.
Your job was to make sure that the brain stayed moist so you would spray it with saline and then you would start operating after the section was gone and seal up any brain bleeds.
You only looked up at Joshua once. He was watching you closely and smiled down at you pretty quickly. Before you could smile back the monitor started beeping rapidly.
“Brain bleed Doctor. L/N!” Minghao said, not looking up, but pointing to the bleed. It was a medium sized bleed and located right in the center of the cut. You were quickly handed a a suction and irrigation device and started washing away the bleed.
“Doctor L/N,” Minghao warned, you only had a few minutes before the bleeding would completely kill the brain and leave the patient brain dead.
“Almost,” you said, very concentrated. A few seconds later the bleed stopped and the machines stopped beeping as well. “All clear Doctor. Xu.”
Minghao nodded and resumed. After removing the remaining section of the brian Minghao let you close and then checked in on Albert’s vitals that were going steady.
------------------------------------------------------------------------------
“Albert’s out of surgery, he did really well,” you said, to Albert’s mother and stepfather. They both cried out in joy and hugged each other.
“Can we see him?” You nodded.
“It’ll just be a few minutes, and we need to keep him in a coma for a few days, but you can sit with him until visiting hours are over.” They nodded and smiled before sitting down and waiting for a nurse to come let them in.
This was your last scheduled surgery, so you were now just on call. You had been up for a good six hours, with a total of maybe three hours of sleep.
You needed a nap.
You had found a fairly quiet on-call room close to the Ped’s unit, and close to the food court if you wanted a snack mid nap. You had only slept there once, but now seemed like a perfect time. So quickly, but quietly made your way to the food court and ordered a sandwich and iced coffee.
Just as you got to the on-call room, you could hear someone behind the door.
Shit, someone was in there.
You knocked on the door, praying that the person was leaving. You could hear the ruffling behind the door before it opened a few seconds later to reveal Joshua, donning a gnarly bedhead.
“Hey,” he yawned.
“Oh, I’m sorry. I didn’t mean to wake you up,” you apologize as he shakes his head and raises his hands.
“No, I was getting ready to leave,” he reassured, “were you wanting to sleep here?” You nodded and raised your lunch.
“I like to eat here then take a power nap. It’s the only fairly quiet place on this side of the hospital.”
“Tell me about it,” he chuckled, “well it’s all yours.” You nod and step in, watching him move around and collect his coat and throw out his can. “You did amazing in your surgery by the way. I didn’t stay for the whole thing, but I watched you fix that brain bleed.”
You smiled, “thanks. I haven’t done a lot of neuro, so I really enjoyed it.”
“I’ll keep that in mind,” he smiled, “have a good lunch Y/N.”
------------------------------------------------------------------------------
You indeed were late to the party much later than you hoped for. You got home at ten, and didn’t get back out the door until almost eleven. Luckily, you texted Jeonghan and made sure that the party was going to last longer. It was, so when you pulled up to the party it was almost midnight.
“Y/N!” Jeonghan exclaimed, opening his door to see you with a bottle of wine. “You made it.”
“I’m so sorry I’m late. I didn’t get out of work until ten,” you sighed, handing him the wine. He smiled and led you to the living room where everyone was.
“I’ll get you a glass, just wait a minute,” he smiled. You nodded and took a stand by the fire place.
“Y/N!” Joshua said, from across the room. You smiled and waved at him as he approached you. “You look great! I don’t often see you out of scrubs.”
“Hey, we got drinks together twice,” you joked. Joshua chuckled and raised his hands.
“Sorry. Haven’t seen you out of scrubs in a while,” he corrected as you chuckled but rolled your eyes.
“You look good too, and I’m sorry I haven’t asked you out after work in a while,” you started but was interrupted by Jeonghan.
“This is really good wine!” He said, handing you a glass and taking a sip of his. “Oh, hey Shua. Did you want a glass?”
“No no, I have a glass of whiskey somewhere here,” he answered, “I just promised Y/N that I’d save her a drink and was going to offer her one. But it looks like you beat me to it.”
Jeonghan smirked, “not my fault you didn’t open the door.” Joshua just smiled and then sent a little glare his way. You could feel the tense atmosphere and looked between the two men glaring at each other before Chan interrupted.
“Joshua, is this your whiskey? Can I have it?” He said lifting the glass and pointing to it.
“No Chan..” he sighed, “I’ll be right back,” he smiled at you and sent another little glare at Jeonghan before rushing to save his drink.
“What was that about?” You asked Jeonghan, who just shrugged.
“Me and Shua have always gravitated toward similar people. Both friendship wise and romantically, it’s caused a few arguments in the past, but we’ve always come out okay on the other side.”
“You’re interested in me?” You exclaimed. Jeonghan chuckled and nodded his head.
“Was that not obvious? I mean I did ask if our last date was a date. I mean I can’t speak for Shua, but I can tell he definitely doesn’t just like you as a friend.”
Hearing the blatant confession made you blush on both cheeks and caused you to look away, not being able to look Jeonghan in the eyes. Two very attractive, hard working, kind men. Interested in you? This doesn’t sound real.
“Sorry, I managed to get my drink back,” Joshua chuckled before playfully glaring at Chan. “What did I miss?” Jeonghan just smirked and took a sip of his wine before making his way to the patio where Seokmin and Wonwoo were.
Joshua stayed practically glued to your side the entire night. You would wander to each of the rooms talking with almost every person, but Joshua would wander with you, fetching you new drinks, food, and contributing to conversations. The moment he went to the bathroom Mingyu chuckled.
“He’s pretty keen on you,” he smiled.
“So I’ve been told,” you blush, “I don’t mind.”
“I mean, he’s practically waiting on you hand and foot.”
Right before you could say anything else, Joshua returned from the bathroom looking down at his phone.
“I just ordered an uber, do you want to ride with me?” He asked, as you looked at the time. It was just hitting three.
“I better, thanks,” you smiled, as Joshua looked up from his phone and smiled. Everyone was slowly starting to leave, Seungkwan, Chan, Mingyu, and Jun were the only ones left and they were all in the living room watching a rerun of a football game.  You both made your way and took a seat on the couch together before the uber pulled up. It was quite a tight fit for the both of you, your knees were touching and because of the amount of drinks you had, you started leaning your head on his shoulder.
“Y/N, the uber’s here,” Joshua said, nudging your shoulder and helping you stand up. “Thanks for the party Jeonghan, I had fun.”
Jeonghan smiled, and gave him a hug, before giving you a hug as well.
“Let me know when you both get home,” he smiled. You nodded and waved to everyone while Joshua was waiting for you at the door.
“Thank you for the uber I had a good time tonight,” you blushed, at Joshua. He had insisted on walking you to the door.
“I had fun as well. Let’s do it again sometime,” he smirked, as you playfully rolled your eyes. You were quite close, you leaning against the door and him standing almost a step away.
He smelled like vanilla and you could hear his steady breathing. You could still feel a light buzz due to the few drinks you had, but he was getting closer.
“Joshua,” you looked up at him to see his face awfully close to yours.
“Tell me to stop,” he whispered, leaning in closer.
“That’s the thing. I don’t want you to stop,” you whispered back, wrapping your arms around his neck and pressing your lips together. He reached up and cupped your cheek with his right hand. “Joshua,” you moaned as you both moved further into your home and he pressed you against the door. “What about the uber?”
“Should I tell him to go on?” He panted, out of breath from all the kissing. You nodded and Joshua smiled, before kissing you again. “I’ll go tell him that I’ll be staying.” You nodded and watched him quickly run out to the uber.
You smiled, and fixed your hair in the mirror before Joshua knocked on the door again. You opened it to see no uber and a handsome doctor waiting for you. You wrapped your arms around his neck again and practically pulled him inside.
“Did. I. Tell you. How. Gorgeous. You look. Tonight?” Joshua confessed in between kisses.
You giggled, but didn’t stop kissing him, running your fingers through his hair and pulled him towards your couch. The back of his knees hit it and he fell backwards onto it. This was it, you hadn’t slept with anyone in well over a year, let alone kissed anyone. You were extremely nervous, and Joshua could tell by the look of your face.
“It’s okay, we can go slow if you’d like,” he smiled, pushing his hair out of his face and starting to undo the buttons on his dress shirt prompting you to start undoing your shirt as well.
You hadn’t worn anything fancy, but luckily it was all matching. When your shirt had hit the ground Joshua was looking up at you, smirking again. You leaned down and connected your lips again sitting on his lap. Joshua’s hand went up to cup your cheek again while the other ran down your side and squeezed your hip, before dipping it into your skirt. He slipped a finger under your panites and snapped the fabric against your hip before moving lower towards your core.
Before he could go any further, you moved to take your skirt off and throw it right by your shirt. Joshua’s shirt hadn’t been completely discarded, but simply unbuttoned, you quickly pushed it off his shoulders as he slid both his hands to his pants and also discarded them.
You went back to kissing for a few moments before one of your bra straps started falling off your shoulders. Joshua chuckled and pushed them both off before undoing the clasp in the back and letting it fall off, leaving you almost completely bare. You shuttered as Joshua started pressing kisses down your neck. While he was kissing down your neck to your collarbones and then chest you slid your hands that were in his hair and around his neck to run up and down his chest. He wasn’t ripped to shreds, but he was definitely toned. You ran your hands across his abs before he started kissing your chest more passionately this time. You moaned and pulled his hair a little harder than before, letting Joshua laugh.
“God, you’re so hot,” he moaned again before he started kissing farther down towards your stomach. Sooner or later he was right in between your thighs.
“Joshua,” you moaned as he kissed along your legs.
“It’s okay babe, just relax and have fun,” he smirked, sliding your panties down your legs and throwing them by the t.v. “Do you have work tomorrow?” He asked, as you shook your head no. “Good,” he said before diving in and attaching his lips to your core. His tongue went straight to licking your clint, causing you to throw your head back and arch your chest.
Joshua continued to lick and suck at your core while one of his hands went up to massage your breast and the other to hold your hips down.
“Stop moving so much babe,” he muttered. You whined and pushed his head down. He continued to lick and suck on your clit as you moaned more and started moving your hips into his face more, getting closer to finishing. “Stop moving!”
“Then make me cum,” you moan, looking down at Joshua. He was smirking.
“I’m trying, but I can’t if you keep moving,” he said using both his hands to hold you down and went right back between your thighs, this time using his nose to rub your clit while his tongue licks around your hole. “Tongue or fingers babe?”
“God, your tongue. It was doing so well,” you sighed, taking one of his hands and pressing a kiss to his knuckles. He nodded and started licking and sucking on your clit again, this time faster making you come in a matter of minutes. Just as you finished your climax, Joshua slid two fingers into your hole and started moving as well. “What are you doing?” You cried, still sensitive and watched him slide up and kiss you.
“You don’t have work tomorrow, we’re gonna go all night baby,” he flirted, still fingering you.
“It’s already nearly five in the morning,” you whined as Joshua added a third finger.
“I’ve never had morning sex before,” he grinned, “and to think, we’re not even in bed.”
“Morning couch sex. Who woulda thought?” You joked before moaning at a particular spot that Joshua hit with his fingers.
“I’m not opposed,” he said as you came again. This time Joshua gave you some time to breathe. “That was quite lovely,” he said, sitting up and throwing your legs over his lap.
“Do you want to keep going?” You asked, as he started massaging your ankles.
“Again, I’m not opposed to doing more,” he said.
“Do you want to go to my bedroom?” You asked, as he stopped massaging your ankles and nodded. You smiled and held out your hands and stood up, he took them and you practically pulled him straight off the couch.
“Your place is really nice for only being here for a month,” he complimented.
“Thanks, I had to buy new furniture and decorations for a place that I really only sleep in,” you joked, “I guess I’m doing more than sleeping now.” Joshua smirked but didn’t say anything as you opened your bedroom door and flicked on the lightswitch which controlled the bedside lamp.
Joshua held your hand and guided you to the bed and gently laid you down before laying beside you. He was still holding your hand and started playing with your fingers.
“Do you have any condoms?” He asked, you shook your head.
“No, but I’m on birth control and I’m clean. I haven’t been with anyone in a long time,” you say as he stops playing with your fingers to look up at you.
“I’m clean as well, but it seems like Joe already told you,” he joked, referring to your first day after work, when Joe admitted that Joshua hadn’t been on a date in the six years he had lived in Seattle. “Are you sure you don’t want a condom?”
You nodded and wrapped your arms around his neck and pulled him on top of you. “I’m sure. I just wanna feel you.”
Joshua smiled and grabbed his cock, before lining it up with your entrance.
“You’re so wet,” he moaned.
“You did make me cum twice before this,” you joke.
“Har har,” Joshua jokes back, “works out in our favor though,” he says before pushing himself into you. He didn’t push himself fast, but it was enough to catch you off guard. His one hand reached out and grabbed yours, pinning it above your head, while the other cupped your cheek more and started kissing you to swallow your moans.
“Oh,” you moaned.
“That it baby,” Joshua sighed into your mouth as he pressed himself all the way into you.  When he got all the way in, he stopped to let you adjust to him, he could feel you clenching around him and it drove him crazy. About 20 seconds later you finally felt good enough for him to start, so you squeezed his hand for him to start.
Joshua smiled and started thrusting into you at a steady pace. Everytime he would slam his cock back into you it sent you seeing stars.
“Josh, it feels so good,” you moaned, arching your back, letting your chest and perked nipples brush against his. Joshua smiled and moved his other hand that was holding your leg around his waist to squeeze your nipple. You moaned again, clenching around him harder this time feeling a building pressure in your stomach. “Don’t stop.”
“I won’t,” he moaned, pressing more kisses against your neck and face before thrusting into you a few more times and then cumming. He let out a groan, but continued to keep thrusting into you, bringing the hand that was holding your hand to rub circles on your clit until you started to feel the pressure in your stomach burst.
You came hard.
Joshua smiled and brushed some sweaty hair away from your face as you caught your breath and started kissing you again. You could feel the cum dripping down your thighs, you needed a break.
“I can’t go again. I need a few minutes,” you whispered, pulling away from the kiss to try and catch your breath again. Joshua nodded and pressed one last kiss to your lips before slowly pulling out of you and reaching over to the bedside table for tissues.
He carefully opened your legs and started cleaning you up while you took a sip of water. You winced when the cloth hit your core, but Joshua didn’t really flinch and continued to wipe around your legs.
When Joshua was done, he got off the bed and picked you up, carrying you to the bathroom. Damn, he was good at sex and made sure to provide aftercare, you really know how to pick’em.
After you peed Joshua carried you back to bed. You lifted the covers and slipped under as Joshua went back to the living room to get some clothes. He came back in his boxers and your underwear.
“Can you go to my closet and get a sleep shirt? You can grab a shirt too if one looks like it fits,” you asked. Joshua nodded and walked into your closet. A few minutes later he came out in your old oversized band shirt and a new pair of panties and oversized shirt, for you.
He handed them to you and crawled into bed next to you.
“I can stay right?” He asked, as you nodded.
“We’re still drunk. So yeah, you can stay,” you said, snuggling up next to him and nuzzling your face into his shoulder. You both laid there in silence for a while before Joshua looked down to see you fast asleep on his chest.

A/N: Omg this is my first ever smut. I looked over it a few time to make sure it all made sense and was fluid, but if there are any weird things about it lmk. Anyways! So happy and excited that they did have sex because it opens up boyfriend Joshua core and I'm excited to dive into that. Don't worry, we're still going to get some love triangle with Jeonghan, but this defiantly adds something to the mix.
Anyways! I hope you enjoyed! And feel free to talk to me in the comments <3

How would the gang react if you reveal ur a time traveler
Okily dokily!!!!
HOW EACH RDR2 GNG MEMBER WOULD REACT TO YOU BEING A TIME-TRAVELER (MY OPINION)
This is VERY vague. So I'm going to imagine this scenario you're from 1920 USA with lots of inside info on the vld gang cuz theres more I can do w that lol, and a person similar to John in terms of age/likeness/physicality. Imagine this is aprx chap 2.
Arthur - probably not have many questions really, just ask you why you'd come to this time of all times (he thinks you're stupid)
Hosea - only asks if John finally left with his family, and if everything actually does fall to bits. Doesn't really care for asking how he dies himself - In fact he doesn't want you to tell him
Dutch - Immediately asks if he dies for an ideal, or if he becomes someone of great reverence post mortem. When he doesn't like the answer he says he can't be kept by the lines society has decided for him so will disobey and flee "like Cain was once he was shun"
Reverend - says you're either deep in substances or have demons in you. Insists you must be a satanic lunatic and leaves with his head up. Later drunk he reveals he worries you're real and asks if God ever gives him a chance
Pearson - "heh...lemme guess...I'm in the books..ain't I?" "Ok you're lying though"
Sadie - asks when she will die and see Jake, and (if before this) asks if she gets to avenge his death
Charles - questions only on the land, and if the colonists finally destroy all of it by then, and on behalf of the natives. Otherwise tells you he's not interested in what will be otherwise
Micah - knows he's in the history books, so just walks off trying to be nonchalant. "Then I guess you know who I am.." (hes really close and breathing quite loudly)
Abigail - forgets herself to bombard you with questions about Jack and John, if they ever move away, if Jack grows up proper and they live till old. She starts sobbing after
Jack (1907) - wants to know if he becomes a writer, then whilst embarrassed quietly asks if his Father stays for real this time. Later tells you about a book he read with a similar premise. Your answer makes him quiet and hee doesnt speak for a while
John - Can't even think of what to ask, so just says like "ok- do-" then says he'll get back to you when he has something good to ask. Later: "wait-wait I got a good one... (some stupid question about future inventions)"
Trelawny - "I am a magician, too! I suppose we are both similar as such.." however he gets too freaked out and goes back to his family for a while
Javier - IMMEDIATELY only wants to know about the Mexican Revolution; was it successful? Did his family live? Does he return to Mexico? He refuses to believe your answer about him in Mexico in 1911 working for the government, insisting he would never pick that over his own life. Refuses to believe John would be the one to kill him, too. Angrily storms off after threatening you if you spit lies like that again (even if you proved to him ur fr)
Bill - gets scared of you thinking you have some other powers too, but then tries to toughen up and look unafraid. Demands, asks to know if becomes respected and feared in the future. Air punches when he hears he runs his own gang, then just looks straight up HURT hearing John kills him (trying to mask it) "But why wouldn't we be friends?"
Uncle - "you should be well aware then...of when the Lumbago gets to me.. where in the history books is that?"
Molly - quietly asks if everyone grows to like her (very embarrassed). She gets silent after your answer and goes to sit far away in camp for a while. Dutch later says to you that "you better not have put her in some mood"
Karen - says shes too sober for this, promptly grabs a drink and tells you she doesn't have anything to ask, but wishes she did. Avoids you afterwards fearing she was too open with you then.
Tilly - asks if she has a run-in with the foreman boys again. Otherwise then that she asks what cool things have been invented since
Mary-Beth - fascinated by future books, and asks if you have a novel from the future you could show her. She doesn't believe she could ever be a writer so doesn't ask.
Grimshaw - thinks you're a freak for coming here, saying "we are doing just fine! She does inquire about her girls though, if they all do well. She grows very strict with Karen there on, but also nicer
Sean - "do I become the big dog of the camp? Replace ol' king Arthur? Hahaha" a string of random questions , giving you no time to answer each one. He actually walks off before you can answer them thinking of more questions
Lenny - starts thinking if its okay to know about the future before responding, if theres no consequences, or if we as people should be able to. Decides he's better safe then sorry, and asks camp to be responsible. Dutch and him debate this
Kieran - asks if they finally accept him, and if the O'Driscolls come back. Grows very anxious at your response and spends the day cleaning the horses whilst trying to gather his thoughts to act upon.

“A Bullseye to the Heart” Ch. 8
Jake “Hangman” Seresin X Latina Reader
Summary: Flashbacks creep into your dreams, causing you to wake up in a panic…it’s a good thing Jake is there to calm you. Jake finds out what happened to you, what happened with your ex, and why you’ve been getting paid off.
Tumblr media
Content: Flashbacks(kinda gory), torture, anxiety attack, talks of suicide, some swearing, DV, will end on a happy note.
Word count: 4,019
A/N: While I think you can assume this is a middle eastern place that she was taken/sent to, I didn’t label the people for obvious reasons. Please be mindful of this and really put yourself in her shoes. Next chapter will be a lot less traumatic. I promise 💗 (Please do go back and read the other chapters, this won’t make a lot of sense if you don’t. All linked in my Masterlist!)
Chapter 8
“What were you sent here to do?” The man asks. His dark hair and even darker eyes bare into yours, daring you to speak. He’s wearing jeans and a black shirt, his mouth and nose covered in a mask.
You’d figured out that he was the leader of the terrorist organization whose weapons you were supposed to bomb. You’d been in their custody for a few days, tied to a pole on the ceiling like a slab of meat in a butcher shop.
They did this to weaken you for torture, you knew that. You’d been trained for this.
“Answer me!” The man yells. When you don’t say anything but stare at him, he nods to a man on your left.
This one compared to the leader, was huge—broad shouldered and muscular even under the loose shirt he wore.
The other man smiles, a whip coming into your view. Before you had time to brace yourself, the whip cracks and slams into your skin.
You seethe in pain, not wanting to give them the satisfaction of screaming in pain.
Except, when the whip is pulled away from your back, a chunk of flesh follows. You let out a blood curdling scream at that.
“All you have to do is tell us who you were working for,” the Leader tells you. “Your Admiral must’ve told you something.”
“I don’t know anything,” you gritted.
He sighs. “Fine.”
And again, you’re whipped.
Over and over again.
So much so, you could feel the blood trail down your spine and legs.
You knew you’d bleed out before they could get anything out of you. You almost begged for it to happen.
After a week of being whipped and beaten by a wooden so badly it broke, you knew you weren’t making it out alive.
Day after day, the same questions.
“Who do you work for?”
“Why are you here?”
“Where’s your back up?”
And each time, you’d give them nothing. An occasional spit in the Leader’s face but that would result in him slapping you, followed by the larger man’s fists.
By the end of that week, they’d send you to a medic who would treat you, let you heal for a week, and then it would start again.
Two months into it, you began losing hope that you’d ever be found.
Two months in, you were still being tied up to the bar in the ceiling. Occasionally you’d be sat down, given food, only for them to turn you upside down and dunked in water. They’d ripped out your nails, cut your skin, burned your healing back.
And still, nothing from you except for an occasional “fuck you”.
By the end of the third month, you’d come to expect the lashings. You’d come to expect the beatings.
But that last day, you were taken to a clean room. A surgical room. Fear riddled your body, beginning to expect the worst. When a doctor walked in with the Leader and his torturer, you were tied to the bed, your pants pulled down your legs.
“You are leaving,” the Leader tells you. “But not before we leave you with a parting gift.”
His eyes crinkle in what you assumed was him smiling. Behind him, the doctor walks up to you and marks your hip with a blue marker.
“Here is safe,” he tells the torturer.
You hear a machine whir behind him and when he moves, you see the torturer holding a hot stamp. A skull and bones symbol red as a chili pepper is being heated by some sort of portable hot stove.
“No,” you say, quietly at first but louder the closer they get to you. “NO!”
They only laugh. The torturer comes close, before whispering, “This will hurt. Do not move.”
You feel the doctor and the Leader hold your legs in place as the hot stamp finally makes contact with your skin.
You scream, blood curdling and raw. You scream until you can no longer breathe, the scent of burning flesh fills the small room. You feel yourself falling in and out of consciousness, but the doctor wakes you up completely with some smelling salts.
They pull your pants back up before untying you and dragging you out of the room and into a garage before putting a hood on your head. They throw you into the back of a truck before laughing and driving you somewhere.
“You’re lucky we didn’t do more than that with your pants down, girl.” The Leader tells you. “Thank your God we didn’t.”
You only sob. You were sure they were going to kill you. But when they stop and pull you out of the truck, you have to blink when they pull the hood off.
You were in an open field. The sun gloriously kissing your skin and grass whistling in the soft breeze.
They push you to your knees before you hear the cocking of a gun.
“Thank your Admiral for us,” is the last thing they say before shooting up in the air.
It was flare. They shot…a flare.
Instantly, you hear the whirring of a helicopter coming from behind a mountain in front of you. Behind you, the truck doors slam before the two men leave you on your knees, bloodied all over your body, and tears running down your face.
You were going to be okay. You were going to be saved.
So then why did the man’s words echo in your mind?
* * *
“Thank your Admiral for us.”
You woke up with a jolt, someone’s hand was holding yours and you had to fight to free yourself from their grip.
You were sweating, panting for fresh air.
It was just a dream. You’re home, safe.
You tried reasoning with yourself but it was no use. You were panicking, and hard.
Beside you on the floor, Jake sits up, rubbing his eyes before turning to you.
“Hey, did you sleep–”
Jake stops talking when he sees the way you hold your chest, face frozen in panic and breathing rapidly. “What happened?”
“They’re here,” you breathe, staring off into space. “They want me back. They’re gonna kill me this time.”
“Hey, hey,” Jake soothes, squatting beside you. “Breathe.”
“I. Can’t. Breathe.” you sputter. “It’s–oh my god–Jake I can’t–”
“You can,” he tells you. “C’mon, Sweetheart. You’ve got this, just like me.”
He brings one of your hands to his chest, the warm surface clothed in cotton, heart beating under your fingertips. “Feel my heart?”
He grabs your other hand and brings it to your chest, your heart pounding against your hand. “Match my heartbeat, Y/N. You can do it.”
You feel yourself slow down, the world around slowing. Jake’s green eye is the only thing you’re focusing on.
“Count with me,” he goes on. “One.”
“O-one.”
“Two.”
“T-two.”
“Three.”
“Three.”
“Four,” Jake smiles.
“Four,” you smile back.
“Do you feel better?” he asks.
You nod. “Yes, thank you.”
“Did you have another nightmare?” he asks, rubbing the hand on his chest with his thumb.
“Yes,” you tell him, feeling yourself fully relaxed. “It was like a movie.”
“How so?”
“I saw what they did to me in a compilation,” you shudder. “I saw every lashing, every cut, everything.”
“Tell me about it.” Jake’s eyes are soft on you, encouraging you to go on.
“I saw them beat me that first week,” you tell him after a few deep breaths. “They had whipped me and beat me with a wooden bat.”
Jake’s eyes flashed with anger before he nodded for you to go on.
“They-they did that for a month. The next month was the same but this time they let me sit instead of being chained to a bar on the ceiling.” You drop the hand on your chest in your lap, squeezing Jake’s hand in yours.
“They pulled my nails out next and cut my back wounds open again,” you went on. Tears form in your eyes again before you tell him, “The last day of the third month, they branded me. Called it a ‘parting gift’.”
He remembered. The skull and crossbones on your hip.
“They told me to be glad I didn’t get…you know, while my pants were down. That I should thank my God.” You were fully sobbing now. You couldn’t stop the tears from falling.
“They told me to thank my Admiral,” you cried.
Jake let go of your hand before wiping the tears that fell with his thumb. “I’m so sorry, Y/N.”
“That was the only thing I could focus on when the Navy saved me,” you tell him, tears drying. “‘Why would he say that?’, I asked myself. And then it hit me.”
You look up at Jake again before saying, “I think Simpson knew I was going down. Even after I radioed in that I was.”
Jake’s blood runs cold, he wanted to tell you what he knew but wanted you to tell him what you knew first.
“I think that’s why they paid me off,” you continue, tears long gone now. “They must think I know something.”
“Well do you?” he asks, not able to contain the curiosity anymore.
You nod. “I think the weapons they wanted me to bomb were U.S. made and that’s why they sent me to bomb them.”
“Why do it themselves when they can send one pilot to bomb them?” he adds.
“Exactly,” you agree. “That’s why they wouldn’t let Rooster or Phoenix and Bob come with me. They knew I was going down or dying trying to fight my way out.”
“But why keep you for three months?” he asks.
“Who knows why the Navy does what they do,” you sigh. Changing the subject you tell him, “When I got back, I was so broken–physically and emotionally. Maybe that’s what made me an even bigger target to Nick.”
Jake’s spine straightens at his name. “Why’s that?”
“I was a walking target, I had the look of someone who had been through something horrible.” You shake your head and chuckle. “I was so open to wanting someone to show me love and affection, I fell right into his trap.”
You look at him, watching as Jake’s eyes harden before he asks, “What did he do?”
“He was nice,” you start. “At first he was. Asking if I wanted to talk about what happened, then asking if I needed company. He moved in not even two months into knowing him.”
You scoff, remembering how naive you were.
“Rooster hated him the moment I introduced him to him and Nat,” you continued. “He was a lot like you actually.”
“How so?” Jake asks.
“Nice, a ladies man, handsome…” You look away at that last word.
“That’s why you didn’t trust me at first,” he fills in the blanks.
“Yeah.”
“Do you trust me now?” he asks.
You turn to him, a small glimmer of hope in your eyes.
“Yeah, I really do.”
“Why?” Jake asks. “If I’m the same as him, why do you trust me?”
“You never made a move to kiss me the first few times you were with me,” you whisper.
* * *
Jake only stared.
That motherfucker tried to kiss you the first few times he saw you? He was ready to pummel that fucker into the ground if it meant you would never see him again.
You must’ve seen the anger in his eyes because he shakes it away and swallows it down. “I’m you trust me.”
“I am too,” you tell him. “I’ve never told anyone that, about what I suspected with the Navy and with Nick.”
“I’m glad you finally got it out,” he tells you. “I really am. It’s good that you talk about what happened to you.”
“What about you?” You ask. “Has something like that happened to you?”
Jake shakes his head, remembering his old weapon system officer. “Not me, but my old back seater.”
“What happened?”
He’d told this story twice in his life. Once at court after everything happened and the second time to Lt. Addams’ parents.
“We were sent to bomb some important buildings in Afghanistan,” he starts. “They held all sorts of jets and weapons that could’ve comprised the U.S. military that were stationed there. So they sent Lieutenant Addams and I—that was my partner’s name.”
He smiles to himself.
“He was my best friend,” he continues. “I grew up with him and we joined the Navy together and then eventually flight school and so on.”
He looks up at you, watching as you listen so intently, you’re practically holding your breath.
“Well, we got into a disagreement,” Jake tells you. “He wanted to take things slow and I wanted to speed up, elimisome time from our arrival time.”
He takes a deep but shaky breath before looking away, down at the hands he held in your lap. He takes his time, caressing each of your knuckles, examining the small scars on your right hand. He flips your hands over to see your smooth palms, coated in light sweat.
“I went faster and didn’t anticipate the upcoming turn,” he goes on. “It was too late. I was too late. I should’ve died but I yelled for him to eject and I thought he was coming with me. But he—”
Jake’s breath hitched in his throat as an angry sob trickled up instead. He blows out a few breaths before looking up at you with tearful eyes.
“He didn’t eject in time.”
“Oh Jake,” you start.
“I should’ve listened to him,” he tells you. Then quietly he adds, “It should’ve been me.”
“Jake,” you start.
He feels your hands let go of his and move to his cheeks, you tilt his head up to face you before saying, “You are exactly where you need to be. If you weren’t here, I’d probably still be dealing with Nick. Or worse.”
Jake’s eyes glisten with tears, hearing you say that means so much to him. Being able to definitely say that he was a hero for you, meant that his mistake with Addams was paid back in full.
Because it may not have been Addams, but it was someone else who needed his help the most.
“You’re exactly the person I needed when I least expected,” you go on. “I know it hasn’t been long but I do think of you as a good friend. Thank you, for everything.”
He smiles up at you. This beautiful woman before him was a fighter, and he damn well deserved to be here—even just for her.
A knock on the door startles you both out of the mini staring contest you were in, making Jake turn in the direction of the front door.
He checks his watch which reads 2:45 AM.
“Who could be here so early in the morning?” He asks.
Before you even get to answer, you both hear pounding on the door. Jake feels you freeze, terror paralyzing you into speechlessness.
“Y/N!” He hears Nick yell. “Get your sorry ass out here! We’re going home.”
“How did he find my house?” Jake asks himself.
“He must’ve followed us home after we left Hard Deck.” You answer.
Jake looks at you, taking your hands in his again. “Go into my room, there’s a box under my bed. The code is 07-12-89. There’s a gun in there, just in case you need to use it.”
“What about you?”
Jake looks at you like it’s the last time he’ll see you. He tries to memorize your eyes, the way your lips pull back when you smile. He brushes a strand of your hair back before smiling at you.
“I’ll be okay, Sweetheart.”
When Nick pounds on the door again, Jake points for you to be quiet and go to his room. You obey, running as quietly and quickly as you can.
Once Jake is sure you’re safe, he calmly walks to the front door, opening it just as Nick was about to pound on it again.
“Can I help you?” Jake asks.
“Yeah,” Nick says, the smell of alcohol on his breath. “I’m looking for my girlfriend. She’s in there.”
“Girlfriend?” Jake pretends to think. “Wait, I thought you were single.”
Nick angrily grunts before adding, “No, she’s confused. She’s sick in the head.”
“Well if that’s the case, she’s definitely not here,” Jake smiles. “I only allow sane people in my house.”
“Then let me in to look for her,” Nick drawls.
“No can do, buddy,” Jake says, blocking Nick when he makes a move to enter the house. “See, I don’t know you and you w already tried to kick my ass earlier today—well, yesterday. So that’s a hard no from me.”
Nick frowns in anger, face contorting into something ungodly. “Let me in. I saw her go into the house.”
Jake’s heart was pounding.
Not because he was scared, but because he was furious. Why can’t this guy just get the hint?
“Dude, even if she was here,” Jake starts. “She doesn’t wanna see you. So, take the hint.”
“Who the hell even are you?” Nick asks, pushing Jake back a bit.
“I’m just a guy who doesn’t like the way you’ve been treating Y/N,” Jake states. “And quite frankly, I don’t want you in my property so get the fuck off my porch and go home.”
“I don’t think so,” Nick seethes. “I want her and only her. So get her out here or I’m burning your house to the ground.”
“Those are some strong words for someone who’s worked really hard to become a pilot,” Jake smiles. “Do you really wanna throw that all away for some girl?”
Nick seems to ponder his words, brows furrowing in thought.
“Because that’s what? Two years of your life down the drain? And for what? A girl who doesn’t even want you?” Jake continues. “Is she really worth it all?”
Nick’s eyes focus on something behind him and Jake doesn’t even need to turn around to know who he’s looking at.
“Y/N,” Nick says. “Let’s go.”
Jake turns around to see you standing there, head held high, body squared, and feet planted. You look like the woman you once were, the one he’d seen pictures of in the Top Gun classroom and halls.
Strong and bold. Confidence radiating from your glossy bronzed skin.
You weren’t scared, and you made sure Jake and Nick knew it.
“I’m not leaving with you,” you say firmly.
“What the fuck do you mean, ‘No’?” Nick bellows. “You’re coming home with me and we’re gonna talk about…us.”
“No,” you say, pushing past Jake and squaring up to Nick. “You’re going home and I’m staying here. You’re not good for me.”
“What? And he is?”
“Yes,” you say simply, catching Nick off guard. “He’s good for me. He and my friends, the ones you tried to keep me away from.”
Nick scoffs at that, rolling his eyes.
“What do you want? My apartment? You can have it,” you say, tossing your keys at him. “But what you can’t have is me. I’m done, I’ve been done for a long time, Nick. From the first time you put hands on me, to the last time you did. You will not hurt me again. So get off his porch and go home.”
Nick stares at you incredulously—Jake does too. He knew you’d finally had a breakthrough and was prepared to do anything to get Nick out of your life. Even if that meant standing up for yourself and doing the scariest thing you could ever do.
Confront him.
With a swipe at his face, Nick shakes his head before slapping you across the face. Your head turns but your body doesn’t move.
“You made a mistake,” Nick says darkly.
“No,” you say. “You made a mistake.”
You point behind Nick, where two officers, Bradley, and Natasha stand.
“Goodbye, Nick.”
* * *
2 months later
It’s been a fairly good two months. You’d been living with Jake since that night. You couldn’t bring yourself to go back to your lonely apartment. And besides, you liked living with Jake.
Every morning since that night, Jake has made a point to leave you notes on the fridge, telling you when to expect him home. Granted, you’d be at work. But it’s the thought that counts.
Nick was kicked out of the Navy and served a few months in jail for the assaults he committed in the week before his arrest. You were also granted a permanent protection order against him.
Life was starting to look up.
You’d been hearing nicely, emotionally at least. You even told your therapist everything you told Jake.
The only thing you worried about now was whether or not Jake was going out on a date on weekends.
You hated to admit it, but I fell for him. And hard.
You didn’t want to, but the way he treated you was so different to what you’d ever experienced, you couldn’t help yourself.
But it seemed like Jake went back to his man-whore ways. You’d be at work and glance over to where he and the rest of the group were to see him all over a new girl each week.
You tried not to let it get to you, but it still did.
You figured you’d use this time to heal yourself—better yourself. You’d get to be as great as you could be so that when—and if—Jake wanted you, you’d be ready.
So now, you’d focus on you. Until the time was right.
Because even though it wasn’t meant to be right now, you knew it was meant to be. Otherwise, why would he leave you flowers and notes everyday? No man who wasn’t fawning over a woman would ever do that.
And yeah, there was a little voice in the back of your head that says maybe he’s just trying to be nice…but why do all that?
Either way, you were doing what was best for you. Because you owed it to yourself to do it.
No matter the outcome.
For now, you would go to work, go to your weekly therapy sessions, and smile at the life you get to live.
But that’s exactly what you get to do.
Live.
* * *
Jake’s date for the week smiled up at him as she attempted to seem hotter than she was. He’d brought her to Hard Deck to meet the group but now, he kinda didn’t want her around.
She smelled too sweet, she laughed a little too loud, and she just felt…wrong.
She wasn’t his Bullseye.
Not his. But his.
You’d just brought over a round of beers and were talking to Natasha when your date tapped on your shoulder.
“Yeah, I don’t drink beer. Can I have a white wine?” She says, rudely snapping at you to hurry. “Chop chop.”
Bradley’s eyes widen and he takes a long swig of his wet before looking at Jake with a wild expression.
“Sure,” you say. Jake watches as you take the beer, glancing his way with a dissatisfied expression.
She’s gonna rip me a new one later.
“Why don’t I get it for you?” Jake suggests. “Just in case.”
“Oh, Jakey,” his date says. “That'd be great. But honestly, we can just leave. This place is dingy and old.”
Behind her, Natasha and Bob’s mouths fall open, Coyote and Payback following suit. Bradley only cackles, making his date turn around in annoyance and Bradley turn around to avoid her gaze.
“So Jakey,” Bradley starts. “Are you leaving or are you staying?”
Jake looks at Bradley, then his date, and lastly you at the bar. You were serving Maverick a beer and smiling at something he said.
You were beautiful tonight. Your hair was curled and half tied up in a white bow, a white linen shirt and jeans your uniform for the night.
As if feeling his eyes on you, your turn just in time to catch him smiling at you before he turns to his date.
“You know what,” he starts. “I think I’m gonna stay.”
Bradley smiles. “Good choice.”
Next part
A/N: Thank you for being patient with me. I had a hard time with this chapter mainly because I wanted it to be sensitive but also raw. So thank you for reading it if you read it. And remember that there’s always someone out there that loves you 💗

Tracing poetry with your lips - 11/14 - Hangster
One juvenile kissing game and two juvenile idiots both convinced they can win the game. (Explicit). Idea from @iprefervillains
ONE TWO THREE FOUR FIVE SIX SEVEN EIGHT NINE TEN
PART ELEVEN
“Don’t take this the wrong way, I don’t want to have to chase after you…”
Jake huffs, but he can’t even argue the point. Still feels like an idiot, an exposed vulnerable idiot who is failing at keeping his cards close to his chest. But if Bradley is going to start the ball rolling he’ll take the out.
                “Spit it out…”
Bradley shifts, slides closer in the water, like he’s legitimately worried about Jake getting out of the hot tub and making a run for it, despite the fact that he’s naked and he has no transport.
“Where did you go? I mean, what made you think… you just… fuck. I can’t…” Bradley mutters, clearly can’t find the words to say whatever it is he’s trying to say. He has moved into Jake’s lap though, a direct copy of their position from earlier but this is all about just being close and he kisses Bradley again, can taste the salt of his sweat from where it’s gathered in his moustache and he takes a deep breath in, lets it out slowly.
“Good things don’t…” he sniffs and shrugs, licks his lips and rolls his shoulders, a sense of discomfit washing over him, not used to talking about it, even if Javy’s mom has dragged it out of him on more than one occasion, usually over several glasses of wine. “Good things don’t often happen to me.”
                “Am I a good thing?”
Jake bites back the immediate snarky reply, swallows against the churning in his gut.
“You… you might be the best thing…”
                “Jesus Jake…”
“I… I didn’t think you’d say yes,” Jake admits quietly, because admitting that feels… weak. He doesn’t usually let people know he feels self-doubt. Bradley gives a sharp huff of what he assumes is amusement and he can’t help but be annoyed be it. By him. “What?” he snaps, letting his annoyance bleed through.
“You’re your own worst enemy…” Jake makes a half-hearted effort to shove Bradley off his lap, but he’s holding fast, fingers curled tight around the edge of the hot tub, eyes watching Jake intently. “I mean it Jake. You have to at least try to not assume the worst. And… I know I said I didn’t want to. But I still would.”
                “What?”
“Just… if you run I am going to chase you. Know that.” Bradley is staring at him intently, clearly trying to drive his point home and Jake nods, accepts his statement as fact, whispers okay under his breath and lets Bradley brush a soft kiss on his forehead. “I mean, I’d put money on me saying something stupid but maybe just… please try not to assume the worst?”
                “Just assume you’re stupid?”
                “Yeah. Safer bet.”
He huffs. “Okay. I’ll try.” Seems like the least he can do.
“But also, why didn’t you think I’d say yes? We’ve been…”
“Fucking. Yeah. But that’s… Didn’t think you’d want…” he waves a hand the small space between them and Bradley raises an eyebrow.
“Well. How does it feel to be wrong once in your life?” Bradley asks, and again he stops the immediate sharp reply and considers his lapful of Bradley Bradshaw, looking down at him with his fingers gripping the hot tub sides so he’s effectively caged Jake in. He’s trapped, but there’s also nowhere else he’d rather be.
“Honestly? Pretty damn good right now…”
“Good. Like throwing the game. I’m… I’m with you. Only you.”
“So. Dating,” Jake supplies. He’s dated before. He can do that.
“Exclusively. Want to call you mine.”
“You weren’t joking about being possessive huh?”
“Nope,” Bradley replies, and Jake realizes he’s dead serious.
                “Okay. Okay.”

reason. — johnnie guilbert.
Tumblr media Tumblr media Tumblr media
summary: completely unable to show your own feelings to the world after growing up being mocked by your sensitiveness and tears, you face the coldness of your best friend’s roommate (johnnie) without letting it get to you, until one day watching a movie with both, he smiled at you for the first time.
warnings: mention of anxiety, depression, past traumas, psychal abuse, daddy issues, emotional blockage, angst, comedy, strong female lead, a bit of fluffly? we’ll see. (jake as your best friend.)
author's note: i got this idea last night while listening to ''nervous'' by the neighbourhood, strongly recommend you to vibe with it when reading. don't know if it will become a series, though. i'm just testing waters for now.
it was a saturday night, you and your best friend jake were hanging out all day together but he wasn’t feeling like saying goodbye yet. so to change things up a little, he invites you to watch a movie at his house.
“before you say no…” he immediately knew why you rolled your eyes and made his best puppy face. “i got your favorite chocolate at home, a whole box. you can even pick your weird thriller movies, plus it’s way cooler to watch it using our movie room. not tryna brag though.” he laughs and purse his lips. “pretty please…?”
you sigh, giving in. jake was the only person who you would do anything for. he’s been with you through tough times just as much as you’ve been with him and that created a bond between you two that no one could break.
as you both get in the car, you start driving and a few things go through your head while jake was picking a song.
the reason why you didn’t like to hangout at his house was his roommate, johnnie. you both never got along, everything began since the first day you’ve met. you couldn’t help but notice how caring, happy, sweet and all smiles he was around everyone, but you. there’s no explanation, the moment he laid eyes on you, he did nothing but be mean and cold.
but you weren’t some sensitive girl who cries when a boy says mean things, you grew up with that your whole life. no father to rely on, mean brothers and a non confrontational mother. people used to call you ''crybaby'' and that infuriated you, they spitted mean words at your face, saying you were weak and too soft, even using psychal abuse to make you cry on purpose, so much so that you’ve just hardened with time.
you made a promise to yourself, to be a mirror. to give people what they give you and nothing else.
and that’s exactly what you did with him as well, it seemed to be working, so you didn't really care.
johnnie was in the kitchen next to the living room, grabbing a soda when you and jake arrived. he looks over at the door as you come in, rolling his eyes at the sight of you.
“so fucking nice to see you too.” you give him the same eye roll and proceeded to enter the house, throwing yourself on the couch and letting a sigh out.
johnnie scoffs as you sit down. “how long are you staying for?” he asks, sitting on the couch in front of you and grabbing his phone.
“want me to leave soon?” you ask him, sarcastically smiling.
“i do want you to leave soon.” he finally looks up from his phone, giving you an annoyed look and you shrug.
“then i’m staying for a looooong time.”
johnnie just ignores your teasing tone and sips his doctor pepper.  “what exactly are you doing here, anyway?”
you didn’t feel like engaging his little back and forth thing so you just ignored his question and then turned to jake that was just laughing, used to the bickering. he didn’t mind it. it was actually entertaining to him, although he was pretty sure you both would ended up fucking at some point.
“if you sleep while we’re watching the movie i’ll draw a penis on your face.” you threatened jake with your best scary face.
he laughs even harder when you threaten him and johnnie suddenly lets out a snort, but quickly composes himself when you notice.
that surprised you, he never really was a part of conversations when you were around, only to make sarcastic comments or be mean, but this was different, however you brushed it off, it’s not like you care anyways.
“you wouldn’t dare.” jake says, raising an eyebrow at you, a smug smile still on his face.
“watch me.” you whisper to him with squinty eyes, an evil smile creeping on your lips, he just sticks his tongue out at you, jokingly rolling his eyes.
“fine, i won’t sleep. happy?”
“we shall see, my friend.” you get up and walk towards jake grabbing his hand, the perks of having a rich best friend is that he has an entire movie room in his own house, and of course a whole box of your favorite chocolates.
as you two start heading to the room, you can’t help but turn your head back a little, looking at johnnie.
“you coming?”
johnnie looks up from his phone, watching you walk off with jake, and is surprised when you turn to ask him if he’s coming. he stands up and puts his phone in his pocket.
“i guess so.” he mumbles, walking behind you both. he doesn’t say anything else as you three head to the movie room.
you were the first one to enter the room, immediately sitting at the huge comfortable couch, jake was right behind you picking snacks and a soda. he throws the box of chocolates in your lap, giving you a wink and sitting next to you with a diet coke and chips in hands while johnnie got himself comfortable next to jake. you grab your phone connecting to the projector and picking the movie. it was a psychological thriller mixed with comedy, very weird and gory to say at least.
johnnie rolls his eyes as you pick the movie. “course you would pick something like that.” he mutters under his breath. jake laughs and playfully shoves him.
“c’mon, johnnie! give it a chance. thriller movies are fun.”
“you can just leave, though.” you finally reply to johnnie still eyeing the projector screen reflecting on the wall. he roll his eyes and just stays quiet while jake is still laughing. “i’ve heard there’s gross scenes, i’m so excited!” you shake jake’s arm while the movie starts, laying your head on his shoulder and eating a piece of the chocolate bar.
johnnie groans quietly, watching the screen while trying not to look the proximity between you and his roommate. he didn’t even know why it bothered him so much.
20 minutes of movie has passed and things already gotten weird and gross, you stared at the screen mesmerised while jake frowned with a disgusted face.
“how can you even enjoy this?” johnnie asks quietly to you, watching as a character behaves weirdly in the scene.
“aw, is that too much for you?” you stare at johnnie, doing the voice adults usually use to talk to children. “do you want me to switch to a cartoon?”
johnnie’s face turns red from embarrassment, but he hides it by rolling his eyes and leaning back into the couch, looking back at the movie.
“i can handle it just fine. i’m just saying i don’t understand how you like that crap.” he mutters, a hint of a blush still on his cheeks.
“since you wanna know so bad…” you start sipping jake’s diet coke, he gives you a dirty stare and you just laugh, proceeding to talk. “it’s not about the gore stuff, it’s about the deep meaning of it, why is the character doing that? i love to contemplate and understand their reasoning, it makes me feel connected to my human side. that’s all.”
johnnie is a bit taken back by your explanation, he honestly expected some stupid answer, not a thoughtful one. he stays quiet for a moment, thinking about what you just said.
“so…  you like these kinds of movies for philosophical reasons?” he says, trying to understand.
“precisely.” you murmur, looking at the screen again.
“reasons...” he whispers to himself lost in thoughts but the scene unfolding in front of you three made his eyes pop, the character insists to engage an “action” with a girl who’s on her period.
“aaaand that's bad timing for all the things i just said, there’s no explanation for that.” you point at the screen, laughing. “this one is just a weirdo, i guess.”
“agreed.” johnnie lets out a quiet laugh.
johnnie’s laughter was something you’ve never heard before, and that made you smile a little but as soon as you realized it, you turn to jake biting your smile away, he looked utterly disgusted and was dramatically holding back a gag as the scene continues.
“ew, that’s disgusting.” he says, looking a little sick.
“didn’t you accidentally drink your own pee before?” you ask jake, laughing out loud.
“hey!!” jake shoves you lightly, a look of embarrassment on his face. “we promised not to talk about that again.”
johnnie lets out another low laugh, enjoying the interaction between you and his roommate.
“my bad, man.” you say acting like you regretted it. “still a sensitive topic, huh?”
“you’re an ass.” the red head boy rolls his eyes but he’s still laughing as johnnie is watching the two of you, his eyes going back and forth between you and jake, his lips curved in a small smile and you noticed right away, it wasn’t a mean one like always, it was genuine.
“hey…” you smile at him, not resisting his sudden cuteness. “for someone mean as hell you kind of know how to smile nicely.”
he looks a bit startled, not expecting you to notice his smile and actually say something about it. johnnie can feel his face heat up a bit.
“i’m not always mean, you know.” he tries to defend himself, his voice lacking the usual coldness.
this time, both of you and jake stare at him with a “really?” face.
“not always around other people, maybe…” you say, shrugging. “to me, yes.”
johnnie’s face turns from a light shade of pink to completely red. he stutters, trying to think of a good comeback but fails, just sitting in an embarrassed silence.
the room turns quiet, just the voices of characters in the background. no one dares to speak. probably because johnnie never smiled around you before, or because you complimented him for the first time, or… because you almost told him how you feel. usually jake is the one who has to listen to you vent, not that johnnie’s behaviour actually wounded you, but because you just didn’t understand his reasons, so you finally ask him.
“why do you hate me so much?” your eyes are glued to his, not giving a fuck about the movie you were so excited to watch for ages.
johnnie suddenly feels the weight of your question hit him. he fidgets a little, feeling a mix of guilt and defensiveness rising within him. he glances at jake, hoping for him to get him out of the situation somehow, but jake just shrugs and motions for him to answer.
he takes a deep breath, his eyes locked with yours. “i… don’t really hate you.” he mutters, barely above a whisper.
you frowned confused. “then why do you act like you do?” this question wasn’t planned though, your heart spoke for you.
he looks away from you, avoiding eye contact, struggling to find the right words and feeling vulnerable under your gaze.
“i… i don’t know. it’s just... easier, i guess. i don’t know how else to act around you.” he finally manages to get out, his voice shaking a bit.
“maybe start by not being a dick.” your tone is sarcastic but you had a smile on your lips, hoping both jake and johnnie couldn’t tell you were trying to light up the mood with your usual ironic humour to not make them uncomfortable.
jake lets out a laugh, feeling a bit more at ease with the sarcasm. johnnie, however, looks visibly frustrated. he clenches his fists, struggling to keep his cool.
“easier said than done.” he mutters under his breath, his tone cold again.
the smile on your face dropped, something inside you wanted to know his reasons badly, to dig more and more until the truth finally would show itself.
“what’s that supposed to mean?”
johnnie notices the smile dropping from your face and feels a pang of guilt. he runs a hand through his hair nervously, avoiding eye contact with you again.
“you wouldn’t get it. it’s just… it’s easier for me to be mean to you than anything else, okay? i don’t know why, but it is.” he says in a low, frustrated voice. “does that satisfy your curiosity?”
“sure.” you whisper, giving up on understanding his heart. maybe that’s why you were so obsessed with trying to figure out misunderstood movie characters, they reminded you of people in real life. they reminded you of… johnnie. you wanted to be able to find out why he’s like that with you, but he built walls around him when it comes to your presence. no matter how hard you try, he never will let you in.
you sigh, letting your head fall on jake’s shoulder again and paying attention to the movie in silence, he watches you put your head on jake’s shoulder, feeling a mix of disappointment and frustration. he wanted to say more, to explain himself further, but he couldn't find the words.
jake wraps an arm around you, sensing the tension in the room, and squeezes your shoulders gently. he glances at johnnie, trying to give him a subtle ‘fix-this’ look, but johnnie just looks away.
the rest of the movie continues in tense silence. johnnie remains quiet, lost in his own thoughts, while jake tries to lighten the mood with occasional jokes or comments about the movie.
you, on the other hand, was fighting a war inside your head. it’s either caring about the conversation that just happened or move on completely, you were divided between those two things, but then the past rushes through your head, when you used to care and show everyone how much you were hurt. in order to change, a lot of tears were shred.
and that’s why you are the way you are now, if people don’t wanna talk, you do not force them to, why tell them how you feel if they don't care and probably will use it against you at some point? plus it’s not like you had hoped things would change between you two.
the credits start to roll, signalling the end of the movie. jake looks between you and johnnie, noticing the lingering tension in the room.
“well, that was definitely something.” he says, trying to lighten the mood again and johnnie just nods silently, his gaze fixed on the now-empty screen.
“he killed everyone in order to get the life he wanted.” you start talking. “he also drank his friend’s bath water and went down on his sister while she was on her period.” you bite your lip and smile at jake. “i’ll be thinking about that for a while…”
jake burst into laughter, remembering the scenes you mentioned. “yeah, that was pretty messed up. but the whole drinking the dirty bath water scene made me lose my shit!” he laughs again, wiping a tear from his eye.
johnnie tries to not show a reaction, but he visibly cringes and lets out a soft “ugh” at the memory.
“bro, the slurping sounds got to me.” your laugh was so loud and genuine that jake couldn’t help but laugh with you as he nods, clutching his stomach from laughing.
“dude inhaled it like a chocolate milkshake."
johnnie can't help but crack a small smile, enjoying the friendly banter between you and jake, but he still keeps his comments to himself.
suddenly the room is quiet again and before things possibly get uncomfortable, you get up.
“alright, that’s my queue.” you give jake a small hug and take the box of chocolate in hands. “i’m taking these with me thank you very much.” jake hugs you back, still chuckling at your laughs. johnnie watches silently as you get up and head for the hall, a mix of disappointment and relief showing on his face.
“leaving already? you can crash here, you know.” jake says, sensing your intention to leave.
“nah, i’m good.” usually you’d actually do that, but sleeping in the same house as johnnie wasn’t the best move right now. “text me later, yeah?” you smile at jake and leaves without looking at johnnie.
he stayed silent as you left, watching you go without another word. he felt a mix of emotions, frustration, guilt, and a hint of sadness that he couldn't quite explain. jake glanced at him, sensing his inner conflict.
as you drive home, a million thoughts go through your head. mostly about him. and the worst part is that you didn’t even know why, but that was sort of okay, no one was there to watch you being vulnerable, so the questions naturally got to you.
why do you care so much about it?
why does your heart kind of sink everytime he doesn’t just tell you how he feels?
you don’t care about people who don’t care about you, why is that different when it comes to johnnie?
when finally home, you find yourself rewatching the memories from earlier, the way his voice softened, or the brief smile he let you see. it’s as if you caught a glimpse of the real him, and you can't stop wondering what lies beneath the icy exterior.
just when you think things would finally settle down in your head, your phone lights up, jake was calling.
“are you home yet?”
“yeah, what’s up?” you pick up right away, trying to hide your anxiety, but jake could sense something off just by the way you spoke.
“everything okay? you sound a bit off."
“i’m okay.” you fake a laugh, jake was your best friend after all, he knows exactly everything about you, including when you try to hide your pain and feelings. in fact, he was the first person to notice them and not judge you for that. “don’t worry about it.”
jake is still not convinced by your fake laugh.
“bullshit. i know something’s wrong. don’t try to hide it from me."
“it’s just…” you sigh, what’s the point of hiding it, anyways? you don’t need to be strong in front of him, jake would never hurt you like everyone else did in the past. “i care more than i’d like to…” you finally confess, hoping he would get what you mean without making you explain any further.
jake is quiet for a moment, understanding what you’re talking about instantly. he’s not surprised, jake could feel the tension between you and his roommate today. and how you seemed affected by it.
“it’s about johnnie, isn’t it?” he lets out a soft sigh on the other end of the phone.
“don’t say his name…” you tell him in a whisper, cringing with the possibility of johnnie finding out you’ve been talking about him. “i feel like there’s something underneath it.” you explain, laying on your bed and staring at the ceiling. “you know i don’t care about people being mean to me, got over it a long time ago. i just give it right back, not giving a shit. and i tried that to him for years, but the way he looks at me…” you close your eyes, taking a deep breath. “i can’t figure that look on his face, jake. and it’s driving me insane.”
“yeah, i get it, but here's the thing… i know for a fact that he doesn't hate you." jake pauses for a moment, trying to figure out the best words to say. "he’s just… confused when it comes to his own emotions, you know? he’s got this whole mean act going on because he doesn’t know how to deal with feelings.”
“i would get it…” you begin to say, collecting your thoughts not to show the quavering voice . “if he acted like that with everyone, sure, that’s understanble, but it’s only with me. what the fuck did i do to him?” you almost yell the last part in frustration.
jake listens to your words, feeling your frustration through the phone. "i don't know, man. he’s never really explained his reasons to me either.” he ponders for a moment, wondering if he should tell you. “hey, can i ask you something?"
you got confused for a second, thinking he was about to make a joke or change subjects.
“sure.”
"have you ever considered that maybe... just maybe... johnnie is a dick to you because he likes you?" jake waits for your reaction with a small grin on his face, knowing your tendency to never consider the obvious.
and react you did, frowning and squinting your eyes so hard that for a second your head started to hurt.
“what kind of nonsense are you onto about, dude?” you blurt it out, finally laughing. jake laughs at your reaction, finding your disbelief amusing.
"i mean, think about it for a second. it fits all your theories, doesn’t it? why else would he be so mean only to you? maybe he’s trying to hide his feelings by being cold."
“too much weed inside your rotten brain, jake. that’s what it is.”  you said still laughing and continued to tease him a little “i’m gonna put you in rehab or something.”
jake chuckles, still enjoying your denial.
"hey, you’re the one who can’t stop talking about how johnnie looks at you. i’m just planting the seed of thought, man. you never know." he pauses for a moment before continuing. “and just for the record, i’m not smoking anything at the moment. thanks for the concern, though."
“well, your seeds are just rocks and they’ll never grow anything but disappointment.” you tell him catching your breath from laughing so much. “but i do feel better now.” jake probably could tell you were smiling because he went quiet for a second, and that made you smile even more. “thanks for being my best friend, yeah? you’re my anchor.”
jake grins, happy that he was able to make you feel better.
"that's what best friends are for and just so you know, you’re my anchor and my sister." he chuckles before continuing. “but i won't stop planting those 'rock seeds' of mine. maybe one day they'll turn into an exotic flower or something."
“yeah, a toxic one.” you hear his laugh and roll your eyes. “i’ll go to bed now, talk to you later, okay?”
"sure, get some rest. and think about what i said." jake teases you before continuing. “sleep tight, darling."
you roll your eyes after hearing the ridiculous pet name, remembering when it started. one time you told him he gives father vibes to you, so he just calls you that because in his words “messing with your daddy issues is fun”.
after you hang up the phone, the room falls silent once more, and your mind begins to wander to the conversation you just had with jake.
now the stupid rock seed of thought he planted in your mind refused to disappear. the sentence  “maybe he’s trying to hide his feelings by being cold” playing in an infinite loop inside your head.
as much as you tried, the thoughts kept nagging at you, refusing to be ignored. you sigh, realizing that sleep would elude you until you figured this out.
an hour ticked by and you tossed and turned in your bed, no matter how hard you tried, you couldn't stop thinking about johnnie's behaviour and the possibility of him somehow “liking” you.
memories of the way he looked at you, the way he softened, only to revert back to his aloof self seconds later, it was so confusing.
eventually, the morning sun began to peek through your window, signalling the start of a new day. you felt exhausted and frustrated, with no answers and no sleep.
as you drag yourself out of bed, you feel the exhaustion weighing down on you. the lack of sleep and the endless loop of thoughts about johnnie had left you feeling drained.
you head to the bathroom and splash your face with cold water, trying to jolt yourself awake. but even as you look at your reflection in the mirror, the thought of johnnie's hidden feelings still lurks in the back of your mind.
“well, now i’m fucked.”
you whisper to yourself, feeling defeated.

Y/n stood by an apartment door that was blocked off by police tape, scrolling through her pictures. She and Jason had officially been dating for three weeks, and in her opinion, it was going great. Two nights ago they had another date which consisted of going to the State Fair. Y/n had insisted that they get the famous cookies (“They’re a staple of the fair, Jaybird! It wouldn’t be the State Fair without diabetes!”), ride the giant slide (“Darling, I’m an adult male with a full-time job. As much as I wanna make you happy, I’m not riding- oh my god, oh my god … Okay, can we go again?”), and go on the skyride. The day had ended with a camera roll full of Jason and Y/n pictures, Y/n’s favourite being Jason going through the children’s faux farm where kids had to collect small packages and do chores akin to farming. They followed a dirt path and collected plastic apples, packets of corn, and swaths of real sheep wool. At the end, they cashed it all in for an ice cream sandwich. Luckily, Y/n had been able to snag a picture of Jason in a tiny apron and holding a wicker basket. His mouth was downturned, but he waited patiently in line for his promised ice cream sandwich.
“Hey. Sorry I'm late,” Cass said and Y/n looked up. “The coffee guy was…”
Y/n choked on her spit. “Assaulting your head?  What is going on up there?” She referenced Cass’ hairstyle. Instead of her loose pixie-cut, Cass’ hair was ironed straight in a tight bob.
“Is it bad?” Cass grimaced.
“Before I answer that question,” Y/n said, “do you currently have a knife on you?”
“Yes, several.”
“Then I love it.” Y/n gave her a thumbs up. “It really... I mean, it’s hair. You look like Edna from The Incredibles. I'm sorry, don't stab me.” She shielded her face with her arms.
“My girlfriend, Harper, is going through beauty school. This week they’re doing hairstyles,” Cass explained. “She’s practising on me.”
“You’re still with Harper?!” Y/n giggled. “Geez, I love her! Uh, don’t take this the wrong way, but… is she passing?”
“Honestly, I don't know.”
“Well, let's get into this murder.” Y/n rubbed her hands together gleefully. “I'm hoping it's a dope one.” She flung open the door and ducked under the police tape. When she saw the apartment, she froze and her eyes widened in appreciation. “Mamma Mia. That's a bloody pizza pie.” She was referring to the scene before her, the floor smeared with blood in long lines, evidence markers covering every other metre, and the photographer was just finishing up.
“Detectives,” a detective named Al Kelly greeted them. “The Roomba was running when we got here. It smeared blood across the entire apartment.”
Cass smirked and turned to Y/n. “Is this dope enough for you?”
“It's a bloody robot, Cain.” Y/n grinned. “It's clearly a good start, but it's gonna take more than that to be certified as totally dope. Who's the victim?”
“Name is Steven Carlyle,” Kelly said.
Y/n hummed and shook her head. “Kind of a boring name. Not super dope.”
“He was a psychologist,” Kelly continued.
“Okay, a sharp turn away from dopeness, but who found the body?”
“His boss called the cops when he didn't show up to work, so he was found by Officer Fields.”
“Officer Fields?” Y/n whined. “You are seriously undoping this. Do you have anything else for me? Al?”
“The apartment was locked from the inside?” Kelly offered, wondering what Y/n wanted to hear.
“Mysterious. Dope,” Y/n nodded along.
“The alarm system was still armed.”
“Dope, dope, dope, dope. So hard to solve.” Y/n’s mouth dropped open appreciatively.
Cass asked, “any surveillance cameras?”
“Oh, yeah. Tons of them, but we checked them. No one was seen going in or out. Whoever did this was a ghost.” Al handed Cass a case file and she started flitting through it.
“Yes!” Y/n exclaimed. “A ghost! I officially declare this case ‘dope!’” She turned towards the apartment. “I love the first walkthrough of a crime scene. It's kind of like arriving at summer camp, except the lake is full of blood and your bunk mate is dead.” She paused before ambling through the room. “I think I may be bad at metaphors.”
Cass held up an interview transcript. “So after Carlyle comes home from work, the only person who even approaches his doorway is a delivery guy?”
“Yeah, but he never enters the apartment.”
Y/n gasped and pointed to an evidence marker. “Hey, Cass. Check it out. Triple digies!” The evidence marker displayed one-hundred and eighteen. “There's so much evidence, we hit triple digies!”
“Cool,” Cass commented.
“Very cool indeed,” Y/n agreed. “But you know what's not cool? Carlyle ordered his dinner from House of Lettuce. There's no way this guy knew he was gonna die! No one would want lettuce as their last meal. For example, my last meal... is gonna be any candy I get my hands on,” she shoved her hands in her pockets and extracted a pack of M&Ms.
“You just keep those in your pocket?” Cass pushed back a smile.
“We face death every day,” Y/n pointed out. “I gotta be prepared to go out on my own terms.”
“I can't even think about eating,” Cass gagged. “It smells like Tim’s armpits after he’s refused to go home for four days and is running on coffee.”
“When have you smelled Tim’s armpits…” Y/n trailed off.
A heavy set man with a thick moustache saddled up to them and said, “that's the heat wave. It speeds up the body decomp. I guess you could say this mystery is straight outta decomp......ton.”
“No.” Y/n rejected the attempted pun. “Who are you?”
“Angel Rojas. I'm running CSI and forensics.” The man took a sip of his coffee.
“If the heat is causing the smell, why don't we just turn on the air conditioning?” Y/n asked.
Rojas shook his head immediately. “That kind of air flow is gonna kick up all kinds of dust particles. That AC stays off, which means the odour in here? Only gonna get worse.” He dug a small clip out of his pocket and shoved it on his nose. “Pro tip: plug your noses. Had this bad boy custom-made to fit these sweet nosters.”
“Are you trying to abbreviate ‘nostrils’?” Y/n stared at Rojas, completely bamboozled.
“In CSI, we don't try. We do, son.”
“Son? I mean, transgender people are great, but that’s not how I identify, thank you very much.” She shot Rojas a pair of finger guns before saying, “well, it's been sort of okay meeting you. We're gonna turn our backs and ignore you now.” She and Cass loyally turned their backs.
“Hey, Y/n/n,” Cass smirked. “You know what it's time for?”
“I sure do! Y/n and Cass’ first impressions!”
Cass pointed to blood patterns on the wall. “Cast-off pattern on the far wall suggests upward knife slices. Y/n?”
Y/n knelt down next to Carlyle’s body. “Wounds on the vic's back means he didn't see the killer coming. Oof. Cass, my dearest?”
Cass shook her head and continued, “laptop, wallet, keys all in plain sight. No sign of forced entry. Doesn't connote a robbery. L/n?”
“But it does connote that our killer was waiting for Carlyle in the apartment.” She hesitated and asked, “did I just use the word ‘connote’ correctly?”
“You did.”
Y/n grinned. “Great. I’m just super smart. Please text Tim and tell him to suck it and that I am amazing and he should love me. Also, tell Jason that I’m the smarter one in the relationship and that even though he reads all the time, I am superior.”
“I’m not doing that.”
A voice frantically cried from the hallway, “I'm his mother! Let me in!”
Y/n grimaced and her jaw tensed. “Rock-paper-scissors for who has to talk to the vic's mom.”
“Deal.” The pair slammed their fists into their open palms and Y/n glared at Cass as the former held up paper and Cass showed two fingers to indicate scissors.
“It's a game of chance. How the hell do you always win?” Y/n groaned loudly.
“You always pick paper,” Cass said.
“That is not true,” Y/n scoffed. “Here, go again.” Y/n flattened her palm as paper and Cass held up scissors. “One more time. Alright, one more time. One more time. One more time. One more time.” Y/n kept holding up paper and Cass easily beat her every time with scissors. “Alright, one more time. One more time. God, this reverse psychology is a bust!” Y/n sighed and stepped outside to the hallway. “Ma'am?” she found Carlyle’s mother and smiled softly. “I'm Detective L/n. This is Detective Cain. I'm so sorry for your loss.”
“Please tell me whatever you can. Nobody will tell me anything,” Carlyle’s mother, Amy, begged.
“I really wish that I could, but we're just starting our investigation,” Y/n explained. “Now, is there anyone you can think of that would want to hurt your son?”
“No! Everybody loved Stevie. I don't know why this happened! Please, you have to find who did this.”
“We're doing everything we can,” Y/n reassured her.
“Promise me,” Amy pleaded slowly, staring helplessly at Y/n, “you'll find who did this.”
Cass stepped in and frowned, “ma'am, we can't promise-”
“Promise me!” Amy placed a hand on Y/n’s forearm and tears started forming in her eyes. “Stevie was my whole world. I'm a single mom… or, was a single mom.” She sniffed and wiped at her eyes.
Y/n took a breath and nodded. “I promise you.”
Cass falsely grinned at Amy, who was thanking Y/n profusely, and shoved Y/n back into the rotting apartment. “You really are an idiot, aren’t you?”
“Um, exsqueeze me?” Y/n crossed her arms, offended.
“Did you really just full-on promise a victim's family member we would solve a crime? You broke the number one rule of dealing with a victim's family member. What were you thinking?”
Y/n shrugged and muttered, “I don't know. She reminded me of my mom, okay? A single mother crying in the hallway? Those are some of my frequent childhood memories.”
Cass sighed and rubbed her temples, speaking more softly, “dude, you never make a promise, because if we don't solve this, you've given her false hope, and that is way worse.”
“Normally, I would totally agree with you, but we're going to solve this case. We have so much evidence. We hit triple digies! We'll interview his friends, neighbours, and coworkers. Come on. We got this!”
“Alright, fine. But you have to deal with her if we can’t solve it.”
“Okay.”
Tumblr media
“My goodness.” Y/n placed a hand over her heart and raised her brows in Cass’ direction. “Did Mother Gothel finally let you out of the tower?”
Cass’s hair had been lengthened significantly by hair extensions that fell down to her waist. “What?” Cass squinted at her.
“It was a Tangled burn,” Y/n explained. “Jason and I had a Disney marathon last weekend.”
“Cool, but no. Harper’s learning how to weave in hair extensions. Anyway, I talked to the neighbours. Our vic had a party three nights before the murder. I talked to everyone on the guest list. They all have alibis, so I got nothing. How did your interviews go?”
Y/n sucked in a harsh breath. “Not great. I talked to his coworkers, friends, and family. No one had a motive. Everyone loved him. The dumb jerk. RIP,” she added quickly, waving a hand around in a bad rendition of crossing herself.
“Did you promise any of them that you'd find the killer?” Cass asked, glaring at Y/n.
Y/n stared at Cass for a tense moment before admitting, “yes, his aunt. She also reminded me of my mom. Her name was Y/m/n!”
“Y/n!” Cass reprimanded.
“Look, it's gonna be fine. This apartment is full of forensic evidence! There is no way that CSI hasn't found something. I have never been more confident in my entire-” she threw open the door and groaned as the smell immediately blasted her. “I can taste the smell. Ugh. You shouldn't be able to taste smells.”
“That's the heat cookin' the blood rot right out of the floorboards.” Rojas sauntered up to them. “Set scent to simmer. Serve over rice.”
Cass gazed uncomfortably at him before saying, “just so you know, Rojas, we're not responding positively to you as a person. Maybe just give us an update on the labs.”
“Copy that. The victim was stabbed 30 times. Coroner puts the time of death between six p.m. and seven-thirty p.m. Sunday night.”
“Okay, and how many DNA matches did you find?” Y/n asked.
“None.”
“What about hair?”
“None.”
“Fingerprints?”
“None,” Rojas repeated. “I have no matches of anything on any criminal databases whatsoever.”
Cass turned to Y/n. “Still feeling good about your promise, L/n?”
“Still feeling good about that haircut, Cousin It? I’m sorry, I’m a little frustrated right now but I shouldn’t have taken it out on you. I love you, Cass.” Y/n took a breath after her quick speech and said, “Rojas, how did you guys not find anything? You had fifteen people in here.”
“First of all, you sound so ignorant right now. I had fourteen guys here.” He scoffed. ”Like I'd ever get approval for fifteen guys. That's insane. Second of all, don't worry, we found something good. We tested the blood. This blood splatter belongs to the victim, this to a second individual, and that to a third.”
“Oh, hells, yes. We might have some perp blood in here. This is huge! Cass, we’re gonna solve this case!” She high-fived Cass and a couple mornings later, she stood outside the apartment, and greeted her friend, “ah, good morning, Prince Harry.” Cass’ hair was a brilliant, stark red.
“You seem particularly chipper this morning,” Cass remarked.
”Indeed I am,” Y/n agreed. “Because I finally tracked down the guy who delivered our vic his final meal and, in so doing, maybe saw the other two guys who bled all over this apartment.”
“We don't know there were three people in the apartment,” Cass reminded her friend.
“Delivery guy,” a cop introduced Y/n and Cass to a young, thin man dressed in a work uniform.
“Hello, sir,” Y/n smiled kindly and shook the delivery boy’s hand. ”We'd like to ask you a couple of questions.”
The delivery boy, who must’ve been no older than twenty-five, looked around at all the uniforms and equipment there. He nervously admitted, “okay, look, I ate a couple fries out of the bag, but everybody does that.”
Y/n shook her head, fingers tucked in belt loops. “That's not why you're here.”
“Oh, shit,” Max, the delivery boy, looked petrified. “Is this about weed?” he asked quietly, like it was a secret.
Y/n’s brows shot up and asked, “should it be?”
“No?”
“You delivered food to the guy in this apartment at six-forty p.m. on Sunday,” Cass cut in. “And within the hour, he was murdered.”
“What? How? That's horrible!” Max cried.
“Did you see anything suspicious?”
“No,” Max said. “But I didn't go inside. The guy came to the door. I just gave him the food.”
“And did you see or hear anyone else in the apartment?” Y/n crossed her arms.
“No, just that one guy. He ordered, uh, three beetroot zucchini wraps,” Max stuttered.
Y/n grimaced dramatically. “Three disgusting wraps. Three disgusting bloodstains. I knew it. There were three people in there.”
Cass stepped forward. “Would you be willing to go inside and let us know if anything looks different to you?”
“Yeah. Sure, that's fine. I don't care,” Max agreed as Y/n began to open the apartment door. Max stepped in and took one look around before screaming out, “why would you show this to me? Oh, I'm too high to see this.” He gagged and his eyes fell on the fishbowl which had bloodstains on the glass. “There's blood on the fish! On the fish!”
Y/n turned to Cass and said quietly, “I always forget how weirdly numb to horrific things we are. Do you think it affects the relationships we build with others?”
“Oh, for sure,” Cass agreed, nodding stoically as Max continued wailing.
“Oh.”
Cass placed a hand on Max’s back, who was currently bent over, retching up air. “You must have seen something. You delivered the food at six-forty, and sometime before seven-thirty, Carlyle was stabbed to death.”
“Stop saying ‘stabbed!’” Max pleaded. “What I saw here forever changed me. My heart is still pounding!”
“Wait. Carlyle was wearing a smartwatch, right?” Y/n asked, whirling around to the evidence marker that stood by Carlyle’s phone. “Those things track your heart rate. If we look at his phone, we can see the exact moment his heart stopped beating. Here we go.” She opened the phone. “Activities app. And... boom! His heart rate dropped to zero at exactly six-oh-three.”
Cass’ brows furrowed and she muttered, “the food wasn't even ordered until six-sixteen, which means…”
Both detectives exclaimed, “the killer ordered the food!”
Max, who was sitting in fetal position, yelled out, “oh, god. Did I talk to a murderer?!”
“Y/n,” Cass ignored Max. “This guy saw the perp. We have to get him in front of a sketch artist.”
“Oh, yeah. I'm feeling it now, Cass.” She bounced up on the balls of her feet. “At this time tomorrow, we're gonna know exactly what our killer looks like!”
Tumblr media
“We have no idea what our killer looks like,” Cass said the following day, bags under eyes.
“Well, that's not totally true.” Y/n shuffled through sketch renderings. “We now know that the killer might look like Sebastian Stan, Winona Ryder, or Bilbo Baggins.”
“The delivery guy kept starting over. Apparently, he's always high.” She shook her head. “I'm sorry, man. Our big break turned into nothing.”
A voice sounded from the end of the hallway. “Detectives,” Captain Wayne strode up to them, cap under his arm.
“Ah! Captain,” Y/n plastered a grin on her face. “Did you come down here to take a look at the two best detectives you've ever worked with in action?”
“The two best detectives I've ever worked with are Prince and Pennyworth,” Wayne said immediately.
“Oh.” Y/n nodded once and stared at Wayne. “You never mentioned them before.”
“They were excellent,” Wayne replied. “I'm here because Major Crimes wants the case. I was hoping to tell them you have some leads. I overheard you mention a Bill Bo-Baggins. Should we bring him in?”
Y/n stifled a chuckle. “Well, as much as I would love to meet him, he is not a suspect.”
“Okay, so who is?”
Y/n swallowed and said, “at this time? No one. But... we are currently investigating no leads.” She drew her lips in and waited for the disappointment.
“So you have nothing,” Wayne restated.
Cass glared at Y/n. “Not nothing. L/n made a new best friend. The vic's mom. She promised her she'd solve the case.”
Wayne pursed his lips. “That's a rookie mistake.”
Y/n held up her hands defensively. “Okay. Fine. Maybe I'm not Pierce and Pennyweather.”
“Prince and Pennyworth,” Wayne corrected. “And they would've remembered your name after one mention.”
“Because we're memorable, and they're not.” Y/n held up a hand to Cass for a high-five. “Turned it around.” Cass shook her head and Y/n dropped her hand, continuing, “alright, look, Captain. Cain and I are gonna solve this case. The answer is in this room.” She gestured around to the bloody apartment. “We just have to focus and let the room speak to us.” She shouted out to the open house, “isn't that right, room?”
“When you talk to the room,” Wayne deadpanned, “I lose even more confidence in you.”
“Why?” Y/n shrugged then turned to beg her Capitan, “can you please just buy us some more time? Sir, I feel like we've earned this.”
Wayne sighed heavily and conceded, “work fast.”
Y/n shot him a thumbs up and beamed. “Got it.” She turned back to the apartment and rubbed her hands together. She said to Cass, “okay. Let's look at the scene like we're seeing it for the first time with fresh eyes.” She jumped to the floor, next to where Carlyle’s body used to lay. “Vic was face down.”
Cass stood in the kitchen, analysing the blood on the wall. “Cast-off splatter suggests upward knife slices.”
“No signs of forced entry. Laptop, wallet, keys were all there,” Y/n said, staring at the desk where all the items lay.
“Doesn't connote a robbery,” Cass finished.
“Wait a minute. Have we said this already?” Y/n looked around. “Are we having the exact same conversation?”
“Yep.”
“Cool.” Y/n’s jaw twitched. “Moving on. Windows and doors locked from the inside. Nobody in or out.” She pressed her fingertips to her temples. “Think, think, think... oh!” She snapped her fingers and her head whipped upward to focus on the ceiling. “The upstairs neighbour and his best friend drilled through the ceiling, murdered Carlyle, bled all over the apartment, then climbed back up and sealed the hole behind them!”
Rojas spoke up from behind them. “Negative, we would have found construction debris and microscopic paint fibres. The only thing that needs patching... is that theory.”
Y/n waved him away. “Okay. New idea. We're gonna get inside the mind of the killer. We eat the veggie wraps!” She opened the days old food container and unwrapped the veggie wraps. A shiver ran up her spine as she took in the disgusting looking food. “Here we go,” she hesitantly took a bite of the wrap and immediately gagged. “Oh, this sick bastard,” she groaned. “Oh, man. This is one twisted motherfucker. Oh, the beets are raw. This guy is demented, Cass!” She harshly swallowed down the food before throwing away the rest of the veggie wrap, glaring at it. “How can someone stomach that…?”
Tumblr media
A week later, Y/n stood in the middle of the room and held her arms out wide.“Okay. All we have to do is figure out what kind of person can walk by cameras without being seen. Someone camouflaged as a wall.” She glanced around, squinting at the walls, as if she could find the person.
“Unlikely,” Cass said.
“Harry Potter and his invisibility cloak,” Y/n said proudly.
Cass pointed out, “Not a real person.”
“Well, uh, how do you know, Cain? Have you searched all of Britain for a magical castle? I didn’t think so.”
Tumblr media
A couple days later, Y/n sat on the kitchen counter, legs crossed and wearing a tank top and pyjama shorts. She suddenly gasped loudly and waved her hands around. “My god, Cain, come here. Look at the blood spatter. Do you see what I see?”
Cass walked over from the bedroom and wondered, “Uh, blood?”
“I think I just made a connection,” Y/n said. “The number three is everywhere. Three people. Three types of blood. And guess what the tax was on the veggie wraps? Three dollars and nineteen cents, but if you ignore the nineteen, then it's three!” she cried out.
Cass shook her head. “Okay. You've officially lost your mind.”
Y/n jumped off the counter and hissed, “what? Who told you that? Was it room?”
“No. It's the fact that you think the room has a voice and also you're working in your PJs!”
“To beat the heat, Cass!” Y/n shouted. “To beat the heat! If we can't turn on the AC, this isn’t crazy, it's just smart.”
Cass took a deep breath and said quietly, “Y/n, I gave the case to Major Crimes.”
“What?” Y/n’s lips parted in disbelief. “Cass, y-you can't do that. I promised Amy.”
“Yeah, and now you can't let it go,” Cass argued. She opened the apartment door and a group of men in uniforms and windbreakers entered. “The scene's yours, guys. I'm sorry, Y/n/n,” she said softly. “It's over.”
Y/n scoffed and marched out. “Okay, fine! I'll leave. Come on, room!” she called out to the apartment.
“You left your pants,” Cass said loudly.
“I don't care!” Y/n shouted back.
Tumblr media
Cass slid into the briefing room, noticing Y/n who was crouched on the floor. “Hey, Y/n?”
Y/n popped up and gasped. “Ah! Hello, Cassandra, my coworker and dearest friend.”
Cass shoved her hands into her pockets. “Look, I know you're mad at me, but I only gave away that case to help you. You were acting like a lunatic.”
Y/n placed a bottle of ketchup on one of the tables. “Don't even worry about it. You were totally right. I was in too deep, and honestly, I feel so free not having to work that case anymore, so thank you.” She didn’t know what to do, so she gave Cass an awkward little bow.
Cass smiled, relieved. “Cool, you're welcome. Uh, what's up with all the ketchup?”
“It's, um… for my hot dog.” Y/n nodded slowly. She began to push Cass out of the room. “Anyways, this has been a great chat, but I better get back to my hot dog.”
Cass frowned and pushed past her and froze at the sight of Stephanie who was laying on the floor, covered in ketchup. “Oh, wow.” Cass said slowly, eyes wide.
“There's nothing crazy about this, sister,” Y/n said. “It's the crime scene!” She pointed to the differently arranged tables in the briefing room. “There’s the stove, the kitchen island, blood,” she splattered some more ketchup on a table. “And of course, the body,” she flourished towards Steph.
“Hi, Cass!” Steph waved at her friend. “I'm the body.”
“You gave away my case, but guess what?” She let out a ‘boo-yah’ and held up two fingers. “I spent two months in that apartment. I can recreate it in my sleep.”
“Have you slept?” Cass crossed her arms.
“No,” Y/n said.
Dick walked into the room and looked around, shocked at the mess. “What the hell is going on here?!”
“Y/n’s gone insane because she promised the victim's mom she'd solve her son's murder,” Cass explained.
Dick placed his hands on his hips, disappointed. “Seriously? You never promise a victim's relative anything.” He took a breath and commanded, “clean it up and get out. You've lost your mind,” he decided.
“That's not true!” Y/n retorted. “I'm solving this.”
Tumblr media
“Hey, sweetheart?” Jason placed a comforting hand on Y/n’s back. He had gotten a concerning text from Cass that had persuaded Jason to stop by Y/n’s apartment during his lunch break. He had originally knocked on the door, but when she didn’t answer, he had used the key she gave him for emergencies.
Y/n jumped at the contact and whirled around, eyes bloodshot and the bags under her eyes were darker than ever. “Jason? When did you get here?” Before her sat the blueprints of Carlyle’s apartment.
Jason’s eyes widened at her appearance before his expression softened sadly. “Oh, darling, how much sleep have you gotten?”
“Uh… when was Monday?”
“Four days ago,” Jason answered gently. “Come on,” he gently helped her out of her chair and led her to the bedroom. “Can we get some rest?” Y/n nodded reluctantly and allowed him to tuck her into bed. “I’m just gonna stay here to make sure you get sleep well,” Jason whispered.
“Okay…” Y/n soon fell asleep, a small smile tugging on Jason’s lips. He returned to Y/n’s living room and sat down on the couch, turning the TV on, making sure the volume was low so as to not disturb her.
However, an hour or so later, Jason heard some rustling from Y/n’s room. Worried, he crept to Y/n’s room and peered in. When he saw what his girlfriend was doing, he sighed heavily. “Y/n, my darling, please go to sleep.”
Y/n was using the blueprints as a blanket, reading over them intently, eyes blurry and exhausted. “Never,” she muttered. Jason took the blueprints away from her before typing a text message on his phone.
That afternoon, Cass stopped by Y/n’s apartment. She was greeted by Jason who led her inside and motioned to the bathroom. Y/n was sitting in the tub, cuddled in a blanket, and muttering to herself. Cass sighed and knelt down next to the bathtub. “L/n,” she said. “So, I can see how much this case means to you. I was thinking that maybe I could help you solve it.”
Y/n glanced up and the blanket fell off her shoulders. Jason came up behind her and rewrapped the blanket around her. “Really?” she asked. “But I thought Major Crimes just labelled it a cold case.”
“They did,” Cass confirmed. “But clearly, you’re not gonna let it go. And hey, if they’re out of the way, then we can take all the credit ourselves.” She smirked loosely and Y/n beamed.
The detective leapt out of the bath and wrapped her arms around her friend. “Thank you, Cass!”
Tumblr media
The following afternoon, Y/n and Cass arrived at Carlyle’s apartment. “That's weird,” Cass hummed. “The police tape's already gone.”
“Oh, yeah, Major Crimes released the scene yesterday.” The pair walked into the apartment as Y/n said, “but I'm sure they haven't had time to clean up the evidence…” she trailed off, looking at the perfectly spotless rooms.
“Oh, shit, they emptied the place out.” Cass said. “Nothing left in here. I can't believe this is how it ends.”
“Yeah. Is it weird that I miss the smell?” Y/n’s lips turned up in a reminiscing smile. “Wait a minute, do you hear that?” Her head tilted to the side as she tried to figure out if the soft humming noise was coming from the apartment, or if she really was crazy and it was all in her head. “I've spent six hundred hours in this room, and I have never heard that sound.”
“It's because the air conditioning's never been turned on. It's coming from that vent,” Cass pointed to a large vent in the wall.
Y/n immediately took out a swiss army knife and unscrewed the bolts. She faithfully got down on her hands and knees and crawled into the huge vent. “I don't see anything,” she called back to Cass. “Wait, there's a bend. Oh, my god.” She came across a pack of plastic water bottles and some empty chip bags. “There's food and water in here!”
Half an hour later, Cass and Y/n stood in the precinct, Cass’ laptop propped open in front of them. Cass said, “we never saw the killer leave this apartment because he never left. But he couldn't have survived in there for months. That's insane.”
“He wasn't back there for months,” Y/n explained. “He just waited for the body to be discovered and then snuck out sometime after that.”
“But this place was crawling with cops.”
“Which is exactly what he wanted,” Y/n scratched at her nose. “He snuck out dressed like a cop.”
“Even if he had a uniform, somebody would've recognized him,” Cass said, thinking logically. In order for them to figure this case out, there couldn’t be any holes in the story.
“Not if his face was covered.”
“By a Hazmat suit!” Cass’ mouth fell open. “The CSI guys! Rojas said he had fourteen techs, but didn't you count fifteen?”
“I did count fifteen!” Y/n exclaimed loudly. “My maths was right! Suck it, Mrs. Wilson! She was my Algebra two teacher. She was actually very sweet. She believed in me.” Cass shot her a look and Y/n remembered, “oh. Yeah. Here's the security footage. Play the tape.” Cass pressed play and Y/n narrated along to the video, “okay, so there's us arriving. Alright…. Wait. Go back.” She pointed to the one guy on the screen. “Look at this guy. All the other techs are wearing their little booties, but he's not. Follow that guy.”
“Where's the footage from the grocery across the street?” Cass muttered to herself, pulling up the camera logs.
“We have that?” Y/n asked, astonished. “That is so crazy. We’re under surveillance at all times. I'm sure it's fine and it won't backfire and ruin society.” She shook her head, ridding herself of the thoughts. “Zoom in on his face. Hm… that man isn’t CSI. But he is about to say… CS-bye.” She grinned at her pun and announced, “okay, Cass. You know what it's time for!”
The friends high-fived each other and said, “Cass and Y/n’s final impressions!”
“The dude’s a hit man. He snuck into the apartment during the party several nights earlier, hid in the vent for three days, then emerged and murdered Carlyle. Y/n?”
Y/n took over and added, “he then spilled bags of blood that he stole from a blood bank all over the floor and turned on the victim's Roomba to make the crime scene as messy as possible. Cass?”
“The messy scene meant there'd be extra crime techs, allowing the perp to sneak out in a Hazmat suit, which records show he bought online. Two weeks before the crime was committed. My only question, who was behind all this?”
Two days later, a man by the name of Warren Lawford (“Really? That’s the most ironic name ever!”) sat in the interrogation room and said, “I was hired by a depressed grocer.”
“Wow.” Y/n muttered. “Dopeness taking a late hit here, but we still got you! See you at the sentencing, peace, and we're out!” She held up a peace sign before she and Cass swept out of the room, looking smug.
Amy waited for them outside, face contorting into relief when Cass explained that Lawford was pleading guilty. “Oh, thank god. But why did he kill Stevie? Was he doing something bad?”
“Not at all,” Y/n reassured her. “Steve dropped one of his clients that was too emotionally attached to him and the client went kinda crazy and issued a hit on him.”
“Well, is anybody going after him?”
“If they're not, then I will. I promise you,” Y/n said softly.
Amy’s eyes filled with tears and she spread her arms open. “Come here,” she sniffed, wrapping Y/n in a big hug, electing a squeak from the detective.
“Why are you promising her?” Cass mouthed to Y/n from out of Amy’s line of sight.
“I can't help myself!” Y/n whispered harshly.
“Goodbye, detectives,” Amy grinned before exiting the precinct.
“Take care,” Y/n called after the woman.
“I gotta say,” Cass huffed a chuckle. “We would not have solved that case if you hadn't gotten involved emotionally.”
“Think we'd be better cops if we did that all the time?” Y/n asked.
“Absolutely not, never again.”
“Yeah, it was a total nightmare.”
