"Look At The Irony": Prashant Kishor Party's Fact-Check As BJP Rumours Swirl
Social media is abuzz with a screenshot claiming that Bharatiya Janata Party (BJP) has appointed poll strategist and politician Prashant Kishor as their national spokesperson. Prashant Kishor's party, Jan Suraaj, has issued a statement saying that the so-called BJP letter is fake.
Prashant Kishor's party also hit out at the Congress, accusing its leader Jairam Ramesh of sharing the fake image. On its official X handle, Jan Suraaj shared a screenshot that they claimed proved that the document was shared by the senior Congress leader on WhatsApp.
"Look at the irony! Congress, Rahul Gandhi You all talk about fake news and claim to be the victims. Now see yourself how the head of Communications of Congress Party, Jairam Ramesh, apparently a senior leader, is personally circulating a fake document," the party said in the post.
The image shows a BJP letterhead claiming that party president JP Nadda has appointed Prashant Kishor as the party's national spokesperson. It was shared by several users on X and Facebook.
The image went viral after Mr Kishor predicted a victory for Prime Minister Narendra Modi and the BJP in an exclusive interview with NDTV on Tuesday.
Mr Kishor, who had worked with PM Modi and the BJP during the 2014 polls, said that the BJP's tally in this election may hover around its 2019 score of 303 or better than it. He also credited the ruling party with shifting the election discourse from merely crossing the half-way mark to winning 370 seats in the Lok Sabha.
"In the last three-four months, the discussion has centred around '370' and '400 paar'. Consider it a BJP strategy or Opposition's weakness, but the BJP has entirely shifted the goalpost from 272 to 370. This has benefitted the BJP. Now, no one is saying Modi ji will lose, they are saying they may not get 370 seats," said the poll strategist.

If nothing to hide, why is govt running away from JPC probe into Adani issue: Jairam Ramesh
Reacting to Shah's reported remarks, Ramesh said, "If they do not have anything to hide, why are they running away from a Joint Parliamentary Committee (probe)."
NEW DELHI: The Congress on Tuesday alleged that the Centre was "running away" from a JPC probe into the Adani-Hindenburg issue and said such an investigation be allowed if the government has nothing to hide in the matter.
The Congress' attack on the government came after Union Home Minister Amit Shah's reported remarks that there is nothing for the Bharatiya Janata Party (BJP) to hide or be afraid of in the matter.
Addressing a press conference at the AICC headquarters here, Congress general secretary Jairam Ramesh said he has written to RBI Governor Shaktikanta Das and SEBI chief Madhabi Puri Buch for an impartial probe into the Adani issue.
Reacting to Shah's reported remarks, Ramesh said, "If they do not have anything to hide, why are they running away from a Joint Parliamentary Committee (probe)."
"They do not even allow us to raise the demand of the JPC in Parliament. When our leaders, including party president Mallikarjun Kharge ji, raised the demand for JPC, their remarks were expunged," Ramesh said.
If there is nothing to hide, the government should allow a JPC, he stressed.
His remarks came a day after the Centre agreed to the Supreme Court's proposal to set up a panel of experts to look into strengthening the regulatory mechanisms for the stock market in the wake of the recent Adani group shares crash triggered by Hindenburg Research's fraud allegations.
Saying it has no objection to constituting the panel, the Centre, at the same time, stressed that market regulator Securities and Exchange Board of India (SEBI) and other statutory bodies are "fully equipped", not only regime wise, but otherwise also to deal with the situation.
Ramesh said it is important to look at the petition that had been filed in the court which he claimed was basically against Hindenburg research. Investigation should be against Adani and its ties with the government, Ramesh said.
Ramesh said he would, however, also make it clear that the Congress is in favour of private investments and they need to be encouraged.
"We have always said we are in favour of entrepreneurship and that is the way forward for economic development. We are against blind privatisation and selling of PSUs," he said.
The Congress is in favour of liberalisation, but this should be on the basis of rules and institutions which should function independently so that the rules can be applied in an impartial and transparent manner.
Our fight is against crony capitalism, he asserted.
"We will not be cowed down, we will keep raising our voice," he said. He also claimed that all Opposition parties are on the same page in demanding a JPC probe into the Adani issue.

BRS leader Kavitha calls Congress arrogant, Jairam Ramesh asks her to worry about ED instead
The Congress shot back with its general secretary Jairam Ramesh advising her to instead worry about the Enforcement Directorate and jail.
NEW DELHI: The rift in the Opposition was out in the open on Thursday after Bharat Rashtra Samithi (BRS) leader K Kavitha slammed the Congress saying it had been reduced to a big regional party, adding it should shed arrogance and face reality.
The Congress shot back with its general secretary Jairam Ramesh advising her to instead worry about the Enforcement Directorate and jail. “Kavitha should worry about ED and jail,” Ramesh told The New Indian Express, alluding to her consent to appear before the federal probe agency on Saturday for questioning in connection with the Delhi liquor policy scam.
Kavitha, daughter of Telangana Chief Minister K Chandrashekar Rao, however, urged Congress president Mallikarjun Kharge and AICC general secretary K C Venugopal to send party representatives to the protest she is scheduled to hold on Friday at Delhi’s Jantar Mantar demanding the introduction of the Women’s Reservation Bill in the upcoming session of Parliament. While over 6,000 people are expected to participate, 18 political parties will join Friday’s protest.
Kavitha said the Congress should ‘understand the ground reality’ and join hands with strong regional parties to defeat the BJP in the 2024 Lok Sabha elections. “Congress is no longer a national party but just a big regional party. It should shed its arrogance,” she said. She, however, hailed former Congress president Sonia Gandhi for supporting the Women’s Reservation Bill in Parliament in 2010. “Though it was a coalition government, Soniaji got the bill to the Rajya Sabha,” said Kavitha.

[ad_1] Paromita Das GG News Bureau New Delhi, 17th October. Bharat and Canada, two nations with historically strong ties, now find themselves at a significant low point in their diplomatic relationship. The strain stems from accusations by the Canadian government that Bharatiya diplomats were involved in the assassination of Hardeep Singh Nijjar, a Canadian citizen and known Khalistani separatist. Despite Prime Minister Justin Trudeau’s claims that Bharat played a role in the killing, no substantial evidence has been provided to support these serious allegations. This dispute has led to a series of escalating actions, including the mutual expulsion of Bharatiya diplomats, raising concerns about the future of Bharat-Canada relations. The Domestic Political Dimension: Opposition Reactions in Bharat and Canada As the Bharat-Canada diplomatic crisis intensifies, it has become a focal point of political debate in both nations. In Canada, the Conservative Party, led by Pierre Poilievre, has voiced concerns over Trudeau’s handling of the situation, particularly regarding the international implications of the allegations. While Poilievre condemned any foreign interference, he also criticized the Prime Minister for failing to be more transparent about the evidence behind these claims. In Bharat, the situation has prompted a range of responses from political parties. Congress General Secretary Jairam Ramesh took to social media to express concern over the situation, calling on Prime Minister Narendra Modi’s government to consult with opposition parties. However, Ramesh’s statement notably lacked any show of solidarity with the government during this critical moment, which some observers have interpreted as an attempt to gain political leverage rather than to support national interests. The Indian National Congress certainly hopes and expects that Prime Minister @narendramodi will take the Leader of Opposition in both Houses of Parliament, and the leaders of other political parties into confidence immediately on the extremely sensitive and delicate issue of… — Jairam Ramesh (@Jairam_Ramesh) October 14, 2024 In contrast, the Communist Party of India (Marxist) (CPI(M)) took a more balanced stance. While it, too, called for the government to involve opposition parties in discussions, the CPI(M) emphasized the need to address the threat posed by Khalistani elements operating in Canada. The CPI(M) also raised concerns over allegations connecting Bharatiya diplomats to Lawrence Bishnoi, a notorious gangster, signaling that opposition parties are wary of Canada’s efforts to implicate Bharat through questionable associations. CPI(M) Polit Bureau on India-Canada relations pic.twitter.com/yXqJZN94Ht — CPI (M) (@cpimspeak) October 15, 2024 Diplomatic Fallout: Expulsions and Tensions In the aftermath of Trudeau’s claims, both nations took the unusual and serious step of expelling each other’s diplomats. The situation escalated further when Canada declared the Indian High Commissioner to Canada a “person of interest” in the investigation, intensifying the diplomatic row. Bharat responded by dismissing these accusations as politically motivated and took similar steps by expelling a senior Canadian diplomat. The expulsion of diplomats marks a significant downturn in relations between the two countries. Historically, Bharat and Canada have shared a relatively cordial relationship, with both countries benefiting from mutual trade, education, and people-to-people ties. However, the current standoff threatens to disrupt these areas of cooperation, particularly in trade and diplomacy. Canada’s Allegations: A Case Without Evidence? One of the key aspects that has led to the deterioration of Bharat-Canada relations is the lack of factual evidence provided by Canada to back its claims. Prime Minister Trudeau initially suggested that his government had “credible evidence” pointing to Bharatiya involvement in Nijjar’s killing. However, as time passed, Trudeau’s
statements became more ambiguous, shifting from “credible evidence” to “credible allegations” and later even to the possibility of Bharat’s involvement. Bharat has consistently called on Canada to present any concrete evidence to substantiate its claims, but the Trudeau administration has yet to produce anything substantial. The allegations, therefore, seem to be rooted more in political posturing than in solid intelligence. This uncertainty has only added to the skepticism surrounding Canada’s accusations, and it has eroded international support for Trudeau’s stance. Canada’s Khalistan Issue: An Underlying Problem The backdrop to this diplomatic dispute is Canada’s longstanding struggle to manage Khalistani activism within its borders. For years, Bharatiya governments have expressed concerns about Canada’s leniency toward pro-Khalistan groups, which advocate for the creation of a separate Sikh state. These groups have often been at odds with Bharat’s territorial integrity, and New Delhi views their activities as a direct threat to its national security. In this context, Trudeau’s willingness to entertain allegations against Bharat is seen by many as an attempt to appease Canada’s influential Sikh diaspora, which includes a significant pro-Khalistan faction. This group holds considerable sway in Canadian politics, particularly in key electoral districts, and it has been suggested that Trudeau’s government is playing a delicate balancing act to retain its support. International Ramifications and the Violation of Diplomatic Immunity The core of this diplomatic crisis lies in Canada’s decision to name the Indian High Commissioner as a “person of interest” in the investigation into Nijjar’s killing. This move is highly contentious, as it likely violates the principles of diplomatic immunity outlined in the Vienna Convention. Diplomatic immunity is a cornerstone of international relations, protecting diplomats from legal action in the host country. By implicating the Indian High Commissioner without presenting evidence, Canada risks damaging not only its relations with Bharat but also its standing in the international diplomatic community. Moreover, the broader international community has remained largely neutral in this dispute, with no significant global powers openly supporting Canada’s allegations. Bharat, as a rising global power, holds key strategic partnerships with nations like the United States, Japan, and Australia, all of which have refrained from taking sides in this issue. Conclusion: The Path Forward for Bharat and Canada The diplomatic crisis between Bharat and Canada over the killing of Hardeep Singh Nijjar represents a critical juncture in their relationship. With both countries expelling diplomats and issuing stern public statements, the situation has deteriorated rapidly. The lack of evidence to substantiate Canada’s claims has only added to the strain, leaving the two countries at odds over an issue that could have been handled more diplomatically. From Bharat’s perspective, the allegations seem politically motivated, tied to Trudeau’s need to maintain support from Canada’s Khalistani elements. However, Canada’s actions, particularly regarding its treatment of Bharatiya diplomats, raise serious concerns about its respect for international law and the norms governing diplomatic relations. Both Bharat and Canada need to approach this situation with caution and a renewed focus on diplomacy. While Canada’s allegations have strained relations, the two countries have much to gain from cooperation, not confrontation. Bharat, a global economic powerhouse, and Canada, with its diverse and prosperous society, should work together to resolve their differences and maintain their long-standing ties. For Bharat, the Khalistan issue remains a sensitive topic, and the presence of Khalistani activists in Canada is a legitimate concern. However, a diplomatic solution that addresses these concerns while maintaining respect for international law is crucial.
On the other hand, Canada must provide evidence if it wishes to pursue its claims, as unsupported allegations will only harm its credibility on the global stage. Ultimately, diplomacy should prevail over political maneuvering, and both countries must find a way to restore trust and move forward in a constructive manner. Only through open dialogue and mutual respect can Bharat and Canada hope to rebuild their fractured relationship. It told the Supreme Court’s Expert Committee on 25 August 2023 that it was investigating 13 suspicious transactions. Yet the investigations never bore fruit,” the Congress leader added. He stated that Hindenburg Research’s revelations on Saturday indicate that Buch and her husband invested in the same offshore funds based in Bermuda and Mauritius, where “Vinod Adani and his close associates, Chang Chung-Ling and Nasser Ali Shahban Ahli, had also invested money obtained from the over-invoicing of power equipment.”“The government must act immediately to eliminate all conflicts of interest in the SEBI investigation of Adani. The fact is that the seeming complicity of the highest officials of the land can only be resolved by setting up a JPC (joint parliamentary committee) to investigate the full scope of the Adani mega scam,” he said.Similarly, Trinamool Congress leader Mahua Moitra also said, “crony capitalism is at its finest”. In a post on X (formerly Twitter), Moitra wrote, “In true Adani style – even SEBI Chairman is investor in his group.”“Crony Capitalism at its finest. @CBiHeadquarters&@Dir_ED – will you be filing POCA and PMLA cases or not?” she asked.Google News What does Hindenburg’s new report say?Hindenburg Research has released an exclusive new report implicating SEBI chairperson Madhabi Puri Buch in the ‘Adani money siphoning scandal.’ This report follows more than a year after Hindenburg first accused the Adani Group of insider trading and other stock market violations—allegations consistently denied by the conglomerate led by Gautam Adani. The latest report highlights an offshore Mauritius fund called IPE Plus Fund, reportedly established by Vinod Adani through India Infoline. It also references the Bermuda-based Global Dynamic Opportunities Fund, which invested in IPE Plus Fund 1. Vinod Adani, a Dubai-based businessman and the elder brother of Gautam Adani, is still connected to the Adani Group.“We had previously noted Adani’s total confidence in continuing to operate without the risk of serious regulatory intervention, suggesting that this may be explained through his relationship with the SEBI Chairperson. What we hadn’t realized: the current SEBI Chairperson and her husband, Dhaval Buch, had hidden stakes in the exact same obscure offshore Bermuda and Mauritius funds, found in the same complex nested structure, used by Vinod Adani,” the report said.Google News What did Hindenburg’s previous report say?Last January, Hindenburg Research, known for shorting companies like electric truck maker Nikola Corp and Twitter (now X), accused the Adani Group of orchestrating “the largest con in corporate history.” The report claimed that the conglomerate used a complex network of offshore companies in tax havens to inflate revenues and manipulate stock prices while accumulating significant debt.Despite the Adani Group’s strong denial of these accusations, the report caused a sharp decline in the group’s stock prices, erasing over USD 150 billion in market value across its 10 listed companies at their lowest point.
However, most of these companies have since recovered their losses.Following the Hindenburg report, the Supreme Court of India directed the market regulator SEBI to investigate and formed an expert panel to examine potential regulatory lapses. The panel did not issue any negative findings against Adani, and the Supreme Court concluded that no additional investigations were necessary beyond SEBI’s ongoing inquiry.SEBI informed the Supreme Court-appointed panel that it was investigating 13 opaque offshore entities holding between 14% and 20% in five publicly traded stocks of the conglomerate.
