Mentioned I was working on something, this isn't that. But here are some fun facts I found while digging through the WNBA website and doing far too much math!

Years of experience DO count years where a player played on hardship contracts, but NOT a year where a player played no minutes in the W.

The Wings have the most rookies of any current team with 5 (Jaelyn Brown, Lou Lopez Senechal, Jacy Sheldon, Stephanie Soares, and Sevgi Uzun)

Series summary: Jaelyn is sent back in time to the year 1920 by a devious acquaintance, Max. He sees her as more than a friend or acquaintance, and his goal in sending her back is to convince her that he’s good for her.

I wander into the staff dining room, surprised to see only Rosalie seated there.

“Where are Bucky and Steve?” I inquire as I take a seat.

She looks over at me, her attention was on her lap and a cup of tea in her hand. “Bucky is in the kitchen. I haven’t seen Steve for a while.” She looks back down towards her lap.

“What’re you doing?”

“Just reading.”

I nod, and my gaze wanders. After a few more moments, I get up and wander into the kitchen, but I stay lingering in the doorway.

“What’s on the menu this morning, Bucky?” I ask, my voice relatively quiet.

He turns from the stove with a grin. “Nice to see you this morning, Jaelyn. I’ve cooked up some biscuits and sausage gravy.”

“Sounds delicious. Could I have a plate?”

He turns and grabs a plate and puts some food on it. He hands it to me, still grinning. “Anything to drink? We’ve got the usuals.”

“Some tea, please.”

“You go sit, and I’ll bring you silverware and your tea.”

I turn and go back to my seat in the staff dining room. After setting my plate in front of me on the table, I put my hands in my lap, my gaze wandering the room again.

“Here you go, doll,” Bucky states, setting silverware and a cup of tea down on the table in front of me.

“Thank you,” I reply.

He smiles at me before returning to the kitchen, a towel over his shoulder.

My attention is drawn away when I hear heavy footsteps approaching where Rosalie and I are seated. I look at her, seeing her watching the door with her brows furrowed, then the doorway to the hallway. A moment later, Steve steps inside. In his arms, he holds a package wrapped in plain brown paper. He looks between me and Rosalie for a couple seconds before approaching me.

He moves to set the package in front of me but stops when he sees my plate, his cheeks heating with a blush. “I’m sorry to interrupt your breakfast.”

“I haven’t started yet, so you’re not interrupting,” I assure him.

“I’ll go get started on my tasks for today, so you two have some more room,” Rosalie states as she rises to her feet. She has her cup and her book in hand, and she smiles at me before she heads toward the kitchen. 

“She didn’t have to leave,” I mumble, a little disappointed.

“She means well,” Steve replies, pulling a chair closer to me so he’s facing me. Once he takes a seat, he sets the package on the table next to him. “She wouldn’t have left if she didn’t want to.”

“I should’ve woken up earlier to eat with her.”

He shakes his head, resting a hand over mine. “After what’s happened over the past couple days, you need rest.”

I stare at our hands for a second before looking at him again. “What is this?” I motion to the package.

“Well,” he smiles, “I wanted to get you something that you could use since winter is coming quickly. Didn’t want you to feel cooped up inside without the proper footwear.” He pauses briefly. “Do you want to open it now?”

“If that’s okay…”

He nods and slides the box closer to me. “Of course, doll.” 

I look him in the eyes for a couple seconds before reaching over and beginning to tear the paper.

“Here,” Steve interrupts, causing me to stop. He reaches over my arms and moves my breakfast out of the way. “Go ahead, Jae.”

I pull the box a little closer and tear the paper more but struggle with the string holding it in place. Steve reaches into his pocket and pulls out a pocket knife. He places his hand on top of the box then cuts the string, pulling it off the top of the box for me.

“Thank you,” I timidly say.

He smiles at me, watching for me to continue opening the package. 

I take a deep breath then continue tearing the paper, quickly revealing a box. I look up at him for a second before lifting the lid. Inside is a pair of brown boots that lace up. 

“Try them on,” Steve encourages. “See how they fit.”

“What if they’re the wrong size?” I ask.

“Then I’ll take you with me to get you the right size.”

I bend over and pull my shoes off. I grab one of the boots and pull it on, struggling to pull it on all the way.

“Is it too tight?”

I shake my head. “Just tough.” I slide my foot all the way to the bottom and fit it into the insole. I roll my ankle a few times, testing the fit. “Doesn’t feel like it’s too small or too big.”

“I’m glad,” Steve replies. “Let me help you with those laces.”

I sit back and watch him with a blush heating my cheeks. He tightens the laces as his hands move up the boot. He lifts my skirt slightly so he can reach the top and tie it off. I watch as he ties a bow then look up at him when he sits back.

“How does it feel now?” he inquires.

“Fine,” I answer.

“Just fine? Did I tie it too tightly?”

I shake my head. “It doesn’t feel like it’s gonna fall off.”

“Stand up and see how it feels when you walk around.”

Steve extends his hand to me, and I take it as I rise to my feet. I take a couple steps away from the table.

“Do you like them?” he asks.

I nod quickly. “Thank you so much.”

He grins. “You’re very welcome, doll.”

We both look over when we hear footsteps, and Bucky appears in the doorway to the kitchen.

“How’s your breakfast, Jae?” he asks, a wide grin on his face.

I blush and look away. “I haven’t started eating yet…”

Bucky chuckles. “Nice going, Steve.”

“He’s sweet on you,” Rosalie claims.

“Who?” I scoff.

“Steve.”

I shake my head, focusing back in on dusting around the dining room. “No, he isn’t.”

“Why else would he have given you a pair of boots?”

“Because I’ll need them?”

“Jaelyn, he hovers around you as much as he can.”

I stop and look at her, thinking back to what happened when Max came here to try to find me. How protective he became. How worried he was about me.

“And you’re sweet on him,” Rosalie adds.

“Maybe…” I reply.

“Come on, Jaelyn. You’re constantly blushing when he’s around you, and you can barely take your eyes off him except when he looks at you.” She pauses for a couple seconds, I guess gauging my reaction. “There’s nothing wrong with having feelings for him. You’re new to town and spend most of your time here. It makes sense you’d be falling for one of the two owners.”

I look away from her, unable to stop the steaming hot blush that fills my cheeks. I had hoped my interest in Steve wouldn’t have been so obvious.

“What’s wrong, Jae?”

“I’ll have to go home eventually…”

“Says who? If you want to spend your life with him, you should stay here and build a life with him.”

“I guess I’m just homesick…”

Starting: WASH: Atkins, Dolson, Hines-Allen, Samuelson, Vanloo (Austin hip recovery, Sykes foot injury, Edwards back injury) DAL: Howard, McCowan, Ogunbowale, Sheldon, Uzun (Sabally, Jaelyn Brown, Siegrist out)

1st Quarter We're back for part 2 vs the Wings after a demolishment Saturday. Howard starts the game with back-to-back 3s. Myisha is left alone and gets her reply. Great D by Stef against a taller McCowan. Sheldon and JVL get in on the 3s. "I wish it was raining this much outside, cuz it's about 2000 degrees" comments The Coach Christy Winters-Scott. Someone on tech is dropping the ball on the on-screen display. I dunno what time it is or what the score is. In what is called a jump ball in every other game I've seen, Stef picks up a foul. 12-18 with 5 left in the quarter. Another tough whistle, we've got to be careful. Stef, Engstler, and Karlie pick up successive 3s to get us within 1. We foul too much and the lead stretches back for Dallas. Fortunately, we manage to regain some poise with a great passing sequence off an inbound play. Arike interrupts the joy with a 3, however. The quarter ends in absolute chaos. 25-32.

2nd Quarter Well, the second quarter starts right where the first ended, in chaos. Things are physical. Dallas has stretched the lead to 10 off better defense and some beneficial no calls. Dolson 3 will hopefully snap us back into it. Yes! Karlie follows suit and the Wings call timeout. Howard already has 18. There have been two successful challenges in the first half here. We manage to get it back within 1 after an 11-2 run ending in an Engstler 3. She has 3 fouls. JVL uses her handles to find a lane. Arike is playing much better tonight. JVL does it again. 46-51.

3rd Quarter Hines-Allen getting inside for 4 quick ones to open the quarter. A truly head-scratching foul call on JVL. Stef 3—she's 3 of 4 from there. Earl gets a quick steal and block. Things stay messy for both teams. Earl dribbles it off her shoe, backtracks to recover it, sees 4 on the shot clock and drills the deeeep three. We have the lead. Engstler adds a trey, she's 3 of 3. McWin won a Capital Emmy! What have I been saying. Where are you at Sports Emmys? Excellent defensive play continues this quarter for DC. And we get 4 minutes in the bonus now. Shatori checks in and gets a tuffff basket. Lead is 6, but we give it away. Signature Melbourne drive. Engstler has some words for the officials, wisely directed to her own feet only, after a foul called on her clean-looking strip. Shatori 3 makes it 70-61. Yish piles on with a 3. Energy in the building is HIGH! We are 57% from range so far today. 75-65.

4th Quarter Energy remains to start the 4th. DiDi nails a last second shot. Sheldon hits a nice 3. STEF DITTO. Our D forces the shot clock violation. Let's close this out! 82-69, then Arike hits from three. Earl goes and gets a huge chase down block. We're not done with the fouls tonight with 4 minutes to go. JVL pops Mo Billings in the neck, but it's ruled a basketball play and therefore just a common foul I guess… Lou Lopez Sénéchal goes for 3. Earl strips McCowan. Sheldon is good from 3 and Eric says timeout. 2 minutes left. Dime from Stef to Karlie inside. On the defensive end, Karlie gets her injured finger smashed again and leaves the game. Fans are up and hollering as a 10-pt lead extends to the final minute of play. Arike is not ready to quit—she hits a 3. 92-84 final.

Back in April the NFL Draft was held over three days.

2023 is the Titans first draft of the Ran Carthon era.

Below is the 2023 Draft class written by Ronan Briscoe....

Peter Skoronski first round pick, a tackle/guard out of Northwestern, arrives in Nashville from Park Ridge, Illinois. He's the grandson of Bob Skoronski, a tackle on Vince Lombardi's Packers teams that won five NFL championships and each of the first two Super Bowls. He started every game of his college career, and was a First-Team All-American in 2022. He was widely viewed as one of the top two tackles in the class, though he may wind up finding a career as a guard.

Will Levis second round pick, QB out of Madison, Connecticut (as well as Newton, Massachusetts and Middletown, Connecticut) who finished his career at Kentucky after appearing in 14 games across two seasons for Penn State. He totaled 5,232 passing yards, 43 touchdowns and 23 interceptions during his time in Lexington. During this time, he helped spark a nice period for Kentucky football and head coach Mark Stoops.

Tyjae Spears third round pick, a running back out of Tulane by way of Ponchatoula, Louisiana, was one of the most dangerous players in the entire country with a football in his hands last season. In four years with Tulane, Spears totaled 2,940 rushing yards and 31 touchdowns. 1,581 of those yards and 19 of those touchdowns came in 2022. He won the American Athletic Conference Offensive Player of the Year award as well. He arrives in the NFL with some well-documented potential issues with his knee, but don't worry too much about him.

Josh Whyle was the Titans' pick in the fifth round. He's a native of Cincinnati who stayed home for college and helped guide the Bearcats to the College Football Playoff in 2021. He's the kind of tight end who uses his size in blocking while also being dangerous as a pass catcher. Whyle totaled 88 catches for 1,062 yards and 15 touchdowns during his four seasons at Cincinnati.

Jaelyn Duncan sixth round pick an offensive tackle from Maryland. The New Carrollton, Maryland native spent five years as a Terrapin, and the only one of those he wasn't the starting left tackle was his redshirt year. He's a big, and very athletic tackle who should fit right into the roster Ran Carthon wants to build.

Colton Dowell seventh round pick wide receiver at Tennessee-Martin. Dowell didn't just have an incredibly successful career, picking up four consecutive All-OVC honors. He didn't just rack up 177 catches for 2,796 yards and 19 touchdowns in 47 college games. He left the Skyhawks as their all time statistical leader in receiving yards.

Brown (6-4, 299) played in 13 games as key backup on Troy's top-rated defense in 2022 … Started five games in his career … Recorded 32 tackles, six tackles for loss and four sacks.

WR Jacob Copeland (Maryland)

Copeland (6-0, 202) appeared in 12 games in 2022 … Led the team by averaging 14.5 yards per reception ... Caught 26 passes for 376 yards, and hauled in a pair of touchdowns.

WR Tre'Shaun Harrison (Oregon State)

Harrison (6-1, 191) led Oregon State with 52 receptions for 604 yards … Scored four touchdowns … Ended his OSU career with 90 catches for 1,147 yards and eight touchdowns.

S Matt Jackson (Eastern Kentucky)
