Because how did we miss the sheer comedic potential of Jack Fenton deciding that Bruce Wayne is his new BFF? Forget bad parents Fentons. They did an one-eighty once they found out Danny was Phantom. Decided to be super supportive instead - and when Phantom befriends other heroes this suddenly is everyone's problem.

They're especially enthusiastic about the bats (maybe Danny or Jazz is dating one of them?) and Jack glomps on to Bruce.

Like Jack is enthusiastic, and he can't take hints. He is in Bruce's personal space. He slaps him on the back. This totaly-not-a-meta picks him up and hugs him. The grumpy goth in Bruce doesn't know how to handle this! He is having a crisis!

Jack knows about Batman, and still does it to Bruce (B finally managed to enforce some boundaries while he is in costume, but it was fraught). How did this happen??

I know Jack and Maddie's relationship in canon is probably MEANT to be seen--depending on the episode--as a pretty bog-standard, 2000s-era "idiot big dad and exasperated, smart wife who puts up with him" trope.

BUT

my personal favorite interpretation is that BOTH are equally genius engineers who are also equally on the autistic spectrum, with a specific hyperfixation on ghosts and mad science.

The main difference is that Maddie has siblings and female social expectations, so she had to learn how to mask in ways that are seen as sociable and polite and attractive and "smart." When she does bumble major social cues (such as not recognizing Vlad's flirting until Danny points it out decades later, or humiliating her kids by showing up in a hazmat suit at school), it feels more "socially acceptable" from her.

She genuinely loves Jack because he could not care less about her being Feminine or Socially Acceptable. He just wants to shout with her about ghosts! So the nanosecond she's around him she can yank the mask off and go chasing spirits with a toaster turned into a machine gun.

I know I'm crazy and need to stop thinking about the Supernatural finale but I can’t because I was so focused on how shitty the finale was to Dean that I hadn’t truly gotten mad about how it treated Sam until now and I hate myself for that because SAM!!! Sam, who had been through almost nonstop trauma since he was born, who started the show losing the woman he was in love with, who had his bodily autonomy violated over and over again, who spent at least 180 years being tortured by Lucifer, who died and lost and grieved and bled for the entire show, was supposed to just lose Dean, his brother, the one constant in his life, after losing Cas, who he considered family, and Jack, his child, and be able to move on and live a happy life? Sam deserved so much better. He deserved to grow old with his brother and Cas, marry Eileen, and raise their kids with Jack as their older brother. The ending they gave Sam is what Season 1 Sam would have wanted, not Season 15 Sam. They ignored everything he had been through, everything he had endured, everyone he had met, and all his growth, so he could satisfy his 22-year-old dreams. There is no universe in which this was a happy ending for Sam and I’m so heartbroken about it.

"Stillborn? No, still born" Danyal au -- VLAD MASTERS THE BITCH HIMSELF

*Points at Vlad* THIS MFER GOT SOME TEEFS TO HIM. !! Okay okay, Vlad Masters in the stillborn au is different compared to most of my other aus in the fact that I am far more heavily leaning into his original ambitions of wanting a family and being desperately lonely. Because you know what wanting a family implies? Wanting to be a parent.

Fucked up father figure that could've been Vlad. Complicated love-hate relationship between the only two halfas in existence.

Danny hates Vlad, but he hates even more that he's genuinely considered his offers of mentorship. Vlad is the only halfa around, and they both have fire cores. Danny has these powers he doesn't understand, can barely comprehend some days, and can't control. But Vlad does. Vlad can. And Vlad wants to help him. He's the only other person who can get close whenever Danny runs too hot. Whenever his igneous hair cracks, splits, and spits back out into magma and his friends can't get close, Vlad can.

His hair is made of magma, which runs so hot that people need specialized suits in order to get near it. He physically cannot get close to the living as a ghost unless he's calm enough for his hair to cool into igneous rock. Which isn't as often as he would like. And sometimes he's too hot for other ghosts to get near unless they have fire cores -- which Vlad has.

There have been many times when Danny's having a meltdown (literally) and gone somewhere to be alone, to let his anger and hurt and loneliness overflow and spill out, that when he's come back to, Vlad's right there with him as an anchor. It's desperately frustrating, it's the only time they can get along. They don't say anything, Danny just turns and clings onto the only person he can touch as a ghost.

Its not fair. Vlad wants to kill his foster dad, and Danny can't let him do that. But he wants to be trained by the man, he wants his help and wants what he can offer. But Vlad can't step away from his revenge long enough to let him. It's just not fair. He thinks for a moment that maybe it could work, and then Vlad does something to remind him that no, it can't.

Vlad Masters sees too much of himself in Daniel Brown -- from the way he holds himself, to the defenses he puts up, his quiet anger that builds and builds and builds until it explodes. That simmers beneath his skin. All the way down to the fact that they have matching cores. This boy is cut from the same cloth as him, and by god does he want to help him. He's always wanted to be a father, and Daniel Brown is too much like him for him to ignore. He genuinely, truly cares about Danny and his wellbeing.

He wants to help him, child just let him help you. Let him kill your foster dad so he can adopt you himself and help with these powers that terrify and intrigue you -- he knows what that's like to have something that you can't control, to have a heat that you can't cool down from. "We're in the same boat you and I, let him help you please."

But his methods are all wrong, and Danny is too much like him -- stubbornness and all -- for him to agree when they oppose each other so greatly. But again, Danny is much like him -- which means that Vlad is equally stubborn, and in every single one of their fights he's parental. He's annoyingly parental. He drops his interest in Maddie to focus his efforts in trying to coax Danny onto his side. It's like trying to get a traumatized cat to trust you, and on some levels it works. It's like he makes some progress, and then moves too quickly and the cat immediately runs off and you have to start back from square one.

TL:DR; Vlad and Danny both want to find family in each other but they're too different to get along and ultimately they are doomed by the narrative to be at constant odds with one another unless one of them is changes, and it doesn't matter who.

Another thing I am loving about this series is how they are using games as metaphor. I already talked some about the monopoly game, and here we got another one. I was so sure that the video game was rigged too, and it was, only not in the way we expected.

You get a moment where you think you're going to finally get a little catharsis by Lompran losing, but of course it's not really a loss, because once again the rich guy has stacked the deck in his own favor, with the poor as his literal game pieces.

On top of all that, Lompran dressing as a caricature of a poor person, a costume where he dirties his face in parody of real people's pain, in yet another "game" that he forces his staff to play. Which, I should point out, was clearly targeted to his female staff.

It's such a fascinating contrast to Rose and Jack, because she sees her time with him as romantic, yet with their power differential, the truth is that she is just another rich person getting someone else to dress up and play with them for their own satisfaction. This isn't hate for her, she's not doing it with malice, but it's a symptom of the system she is still not capable of questioning.

And it wasn't an accident that while Jack and Lompran were playing their game, Rose's surface-level "let's lift people out of poverty" game show was going on. Where Tattoo, Arun, and Hoy performed for the privilege of a prize.

Yet of course this is not the kind of game where anyone will truly win, the panel gets to sit there and judge, and make the contestants dance, but no one is truly being saved here.

They had an opportunity to look at Tattoo and see talent and creativity worthy of investing in, but they didn't see his idea as marketable, so they didn't care anymore. Because they only care about the prizes, the tangibles, not the essence of the people they are rejecting.

Just layers upon layers here. It's so well done!
