Remembered this "Yotsuba&!" edit I made years ago with lyrics from The World/Inferno Friendship Society's "Let's Steal Everything," hoped there'd be an Infernite or two on Tumblr that might enjoy it.

Album of the Day - Valhalla, Definitely by The World/Inferno Friendship Society
I was not expecting this at all since Jack Terricloth died back in 2021. This album is a collection of tracks he and his crew were working on up to that point, some of which are unfinished or posthumously completed recordings. It all sounds amazing though. Please check it out and hit up their back catalogue as well

more time to write
a new tattoo
15. 3 quotes that have a special place in your life
I would rather be ashes than dust! I would rather that my spark should burn out in a brilliant blaze than it should be stifled by dry-rot. I would rather be a superb meteor, every atom of me in magnificent glow, than a sleepy and permanent planet. The function of man is to live, not to exist. I shall not waste my days in trying to prolong them. I shall use my time. —Jack London
&
I don’t want to give up. I promise I shall never give up, and that I’ll die yelling and laughing. And until then I’ll rush around this world I insist is holy and pull at everyone’s lapel and make them confess to me and to all. —Jack Kerouac
&
The future is unwritten and good, the kids are alright, adventure is proven to release anti-oxidants into your blood which halts aging and promotes clear skin, there are friends of yours thinking about you in far away places, love is real and never forget the struggle, never forget the streets. —Jack Terricloth

the world inferno friendship society
three years ago, I was bored! I wanted to play a new game. I wanted to play a game that:
had good reviews
had anthropomorphic animals
i had never seen game play of before (blind)
That is how I found out about Night in the Woods.
Night in the Woods was a 2d-platformer story game released in 2017 that-at the time-I had HEARD of but never got around to actually seeing anything about it.
So I played Night in the Woods, and it was
WONDERFUL
I can not stress how much that game impacted me. It instantly became one of-if not-my favorite story game of all time.
I started doodling NITW-style drawings in school. I dug into the history and learned about Scott Benson. I scoured through all of his art that I could find and saw some amazing stuff.
However one day, I found this comic Scott Benson had made and posted to itch.io. It was called the Bridgewater Astral League and apparently it was
"A short comic adaptation of an album by the World/Inferno Friendship Society."
What lured me in however were the preview images, which looked like this:
There was a link above but I will post the link here in all of its glory:
I read the comic, and I had no idea what was going on.
I felt confused? Confuzzled? but the art was pretty! But me being me, I wanted to know MORE.
So I looked them up, and then
began my three year long hyper-fixation of the coolest punk band in Brooklyn, New York.
The World Inferno/Friendship Society.
Now I will attempt to give factual information which I may very well get wrong because I am going off the top of my head. Whoops.
The WIFS was started by a man named Peter Ventantonio who would go on to have the stage name Jack Terricloth.
In 1987, before making the WIFS, he formed a punk rock band in New Jersey named Sticks and Stones.
In 1995 he adopted the stage name Jack Terricloth and started to make the songs that would become part of the WIFS. I heard in an interview that one of the Band's most recognizable songs Tattoos Fade (some would call it their "call to arms") was actually made while Jack was in Sticks and Stones but the song was rejected by the other members. I don't know how true this is, this isn't an essay, please take it with a grain of salt. IF however you want to learn more (maybe) accurate information, you can read their wikipedia article: https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/The_World/Inferno_Friendship_Society Anywho, yeah. It was a band for sure. Their style was unlike anything I had heard at the time, and it was a PUNK band! I think one person put it best when, in a review of one of their charity albums released this year, he said how Jack wanted to
"Write songs that made you cry like your heart was broken, but dance like you'd been brought back to life at the same time."
(SOURCE)
I will have to continue this later, i don't know if I will. I have final projects to tend to!!! also, I neglected to put this so I am editing it in. Peter (Jack Terricloth) passed away in May of 2021 at the age of 50. R.I.P Jack Terricloth

What music do you like?
Kind of a mix of stuff, I like genre mixes so it's hard to pin down exactly. I like stuff with added classical instruments or real synthesizer in it.
The most consistent group I've listened to since I was a teenager is world/inferno friendship society which can KINDA be defined as dark cabaret, but it's more of a loosely defined anarchist music collective. (Though they're probably done after Jack Terricloth passed away in 2021)
Otherwise there's some Ska (Aquabats and Reel Big Fish mostly) some Electronic music (fartbarf, look mum no computer) a little bit of rap in there (godforbid) and a lot of stuff that's harder to define (ludo, bear ghost, golgol bordello, Amanda palmer, mad caddies, electric six, Voltaire)
I kinda go for beat and vibes rather than genre. My two main playlists are kind of a train wreck genre-wise.
#real synthesizer verses like#computer generated if that makes sense#press buttons turn dials to make sound rather than clicking a mouse

So I actually decorated this a few years ago but this is one of my favorite ukuleles, nicknamed "Molly Tov," which was a gift from my wife. This is the uke I started writing songs on, and almost all of my upcoming concept album ("All Along The Milky Way") was written on it.
It's decorated with decals (designed by Rosie Woodruff, cut from black vinyl by my wife) quoting a lyric from "Zen and the Art of Breaking Everything in This Room" by The World/Inferno Friendship Society. I hand-cut and added the bottle decal by the flame-shaped sound hole myself.
The main decal design was given away by its designer (a World/Inferno fan) following the death of the band's lead singer, Jack Terricloth, in 2021.

7, 15, 20, 28 for the music asks!
Thank you for the ask bi friend : ) Seven. A Song to Drive to hmm, "Saving Grace" by Tom Petty, fitting as its the first track on an album called Highway Companion
Fifteen. A Song that is a Cover from Another Artist, Lets see... AJJ's cover of the Silver Jews' "Candy Jail" Its not super different then the original, but just different enough to be its own thing, and I like both it and the original
Twenty. A Song That Has Many Meanings to You Jason Molina (as Songs: Ohia)'s "Farewell Transmission", which for my money is the best lyrically written song to exist. I am answering this too tired to actually go into the meanings it has for me, but please listen and find your own!
Twenty Eight. A Song From an Artist Whose Voice You Love, "Cats Are Not Lucky Creatures" by The World/Inferno Friendship Society. Jack Terricloth had his own unique voice and no one else was doing what he was doing.

one of my favorite bands is The World/Inferno Friendship Society and i only learned a couple months back that the lead singer Jack Terricloth passed away last year, and it bummed me out and since then ive been having a lot of thoughts abt legacy??
i have a lot i mean a LOT of world/inferno songs in my spotify liked songs and ill shuffle every now and then and catch like, Heart Attack ‘64 or Only Anarchists are Pretty or even Let’s Steal Everything (the first song i heard by them and changed my life tbh) and hearing him sing is like, surreal, as i’m sure it is with any song sung by someone who’s not here anymore. like when he starts up i have that moment of ‘oh man i love this one’ and then ‘he’s gone’ and then ‘we probably won’t get any new music from them anymore’
but then i think. well he’s not completely gone, cuz i can hear him coming through my car speakers. im glad he left his voice behind for us to enjoy, and im glad i found them when i did. and then i just think, i hope i can leave behind something like this when i inevitably die too. even if its just a story
#txt#death tw#normal thoughts to have on a friday night#putting it under a readmore just to be safe idk tumblr etiquette anymore#this and the recent defuntland video got me thinking a lot

Concept albums are the closest thing we as a society have to epic poetry in the modern day. Jack Terricloth mythologizing Peter Lorre is 2007's Homer
