Hello Mr Atoms, I've finally built up enough confidence to ask you a question, my anxiety gets the best of me most days. I've been a fan of the grim adventures of Billy and Mandy since it first aired. My favorite character is Jack O'Lantern, and so my question for you is where did the inspiration for Jack come from? I know he's loosely based on the old Irish tale : Stingy Jack, but where did the silly , hilarious, personally come from? Because I've been curious about it for almost 20 years, lol. I have quite a few questions about the character, but I will save them for another day.
No worries! These are anxious times.
The special was written by myself and storyboarded/written by Paul McEvoy (It's a Paul day) and Brett Varon, with Paul taking the first half and Brett taking the second. They cross-pollinated jokes and shots, and I think most of Jack's personality came from Paul's love of spooky old European folk tales and Brett's love of dumb jokes.
The final ingredient is Wayne Knight. I was really worried because he was a last minute replacement for Gary Oldman (he was going to do it before being called in to play Sirius Black) and I wasn't sure what I was getting into. Thankfully, Wayne's wheezy laugh pulled it off and we ended up with a fun character.

Reason #1,291
“‘the single bullet theory’...with the love of your life. Everybody’s got one person out there. One bullet. And if you’re lucky in life, you get to meet that person. And once you do, once you’re shot through the heart, then there’s nobody else. No matter what happens—death, divorce, infidelity, whatever—nobody else can ever come close.”

What does this mean for us?
Whenever you read something, you learn something. It doesn’t matter if it’s a text message, the subtitles on your TV screen, or the ingredients on the milk carton. You gain new knowledge no matter how big or small it may be. When I first learned to read, I read simple children’s books. They ranged from The Berenstein Bears to Fancy Nancy and of course Dr. Suess. I read these books only caring about the pictures and the silly characters not knowing that I was being taught something. In every book there is a hidden lesson, and it may be obvious most of the time but also most of the time it may not be. Graduating to chapter books I started to understand the lessons I was being taught. Going back to the Magic Tree House books, Jack and Annie faced many challenges in every book but by working together they were able to overcome those challenges. These challenges were disguised as fun adventures in different time periods from the dinosaurs to early European times. In The Hunger Games, Suzanne Collins uses her world building and unique set of characters to deliver a new kind of challenge, the challenge of an oppressive government. “Collins, does in fact, exhibit the determination, offering her readers a variety of models and many degrees of struggle and understanding in achieving wakefulness about her fictional world, and the real world from which it grew,” (Vezzali et al. 2020). Reading these kinds of books that illustrate a dystopian society can increase curiosity for anyone that reads them. “The series can be used to spark empathetic exploration of a range of global human rights and humanitarian issues,” (Mcevoy-Levy, 2017).  It can help introduce more heavy topics for younger readers through the scope of a fictional story.

Advertencia razonable
Tumblr media
Read the full article

Books - Review of Fair Warning by Michael Connelly - Powerful Reading - 2020
Books – Review of Fair Warning by Michael Connelly – Powerful Reading – 2020
Fair Warning – Book Cover Book Review – Fair Warning by Michael Connelly  My Rating – 4 out of 5   Plot Summary – Fair Warning Michael Connelly, to my delight, is a breath of fresh air in the world of crime thriller writers, only because his background as a crime journalist, working the police beat, puts him bang in the middle of procedural investigations. It does not read like a research…
