What’s this thiam hannibal au I hear about? I’d love to see any snippets <3
🎣 - thiam Hannibal!AU
“You should've seen him with the crime scene photos,” Scott says with slight repulsion. “He was foaming at the mouth.”
“If you’re trying to convince me he’s fit for fieldwork, you’re not doing a good job.” Corey snorts.
“I’m not trying to convince you, I’m trying to recruit you.”
Corey halts for a moment, looking at the agent with both eyebrows raised high. “No.”
“C’mon, I-”
“No,” Corey repeats, continuing on his way to his next class. “I know Liam, it would be a breach of-”
“Exactly, you know him. You know he’s going to need someone to… to ground him. To keep him from…”
“Going crazy?” Corey finishes for him. “Again?”
“I don’t think it’s the clinical term for it.”
Corey sighs in exasperation at Scott giving him a Psych 101 class. He’s his criminology expert whenever the Behavioral Unit needs someone to testify in court. Corey knows that “crazy” isn’t a diagnosis but… Liam is a special case. There’s no right label for what he is.
“Listen, I have a… tentative friendship with Liam. I’m not going to blow that because you think you’re going to break him. You want my help? Here’s my advice: don’t put him out there.”
“Does he even see Mason anymore?”
Corey’s hand tightens around his suitcase and he bites his tongue before he answers.
“Mason wasn't Liam's fault.”
“Is that what Mason told you to say? Or is it what you really think?” The question ticks off Corey the wrong way despite the softness of Scott’s words, the genuine curiosity.
It doesn’t matter, it still feels like a bitch slap.
“I'll give you the number of a colleague who’ll be able to handle Liam. He's well-regarded. You'll like him. Liam… not so much,” Corey says before quickly walking away from Scott and the pesky conversation.

OKAY, after rewatching Teen Wolf after like 10 years, and being as obsessed as I am with Transformers Prime, it's come to my attention just how wildly similar these four characters' relationships and situations are,,, and I LOVE it
This has to be one of my fav parent/child dynamics, next to "man worn down by the world accidently adopts a girl and becomes their dad" trope- aka Joel/Ellie - aka Lee/Clementine. Bonus points if the dad dies horribly.
But onto the point-
We have Melissa McCall- a divorced single mom, raising a teenage son in high-school, who is a hardworking, overworked nurse struggling to make ends meet at home.
And we have June Darby- a divorced single mom, raising a teenage son in high-school, who is a hardworking, overworked nurse struggling to make ends meet at home.
Both remain in the dark about what their sons are truly involved in, and worry about their recent behavior.
NOW, the sons.
Scott McCall- an awkward teenage boy with an average life who works a part-time job to help cover the bills at home.
Jack Darby- an awkward teenage boy with an average life who works a part-time job to help cover the bills at home.
(They also both have crushes on a girl at school that they want to impress- but unlike Sierra, Allison is actually a part of the main cast and plotline)
Both of their lives are overturned when accidentally encountering something extraordinary, and it changes them forever.
For Scott, it was being turned into a werewolf, becoming part of this secret world, and finding out who he is and rising to something he never thought possible. He becomes a leader and a True Alpha.
For Jack it was discovering an alien race marooned on Earth fighting an age-old war, becoming part of this secret world and finding out who he is and rising to something he never thought possible.
He becomes a protector and an Honorary Prime.
Both Melissa and June are introduced to the main events of the show by being put in danger and being saved by their sons. Of course they don't react to everything well at first, scared and afraid for their kids' safety, but eventually coming to terms with the importance of the roles their sons now play, supporting them and becoming healers for the teams.
The relationships between the moms and sons only grow stronger, and the love they have for each-other is always present on screen, even in times when they are at odds with each-other in difficult situations.
I just think this is so sweet. I feel like typically with shows about teenagers and crazy drama, they're fighting with their parents and don't get along at all. But Melissa and June are such great mom characters, and Scott and Jack have close bonds with them.
When Team Prime was in hiding, Jack breaks down and calls his mom, despite knowing how dangerous it would be to open that line of communication cus of the Cons hunting them. Miko and Raf didn't even consider calling their families during that time to let them know they were alive after disappearing.
Obviously, Teen Wolf had way more seasons and time to flesh out their relationships, while TFP didn't, which is a big shame. There was still so much untapped potential for TFP- especially for the humans, before it was canned.
Scott got to reunite with his estranged father (who is funnily named Rafael), and there was a lot of strife there, but eventually the trust was rebuilt between them.
I would've loved a family arc with the Darbys! The only time Jack's father is mentioned is in that one ep with June and Fowler dealing with Knock Out- and BOY I would've liked to see more of that explored upon.
Also another funny comparison I'm just now realizing...
Melissa was friends with a law enforcement character- Sheriff Stilinski, who both got involved with the supernatural elements of the show. And June became friends with a law enforcement character- William Fowler, after being exposed to the Cybertronian War. Both of these guys are awesome and loveable too. Fowler is rough around the edges, but he's easily one of the best human ally characters ever in TF.
Idk,,, i just think this comparison is neat and I had to talk about it. Jack is my favorite of the Trio kids, and anytime I can yap about him in any interesting way, I gotta!

I apologize in advance, but I completely disagree with this whole consensus of there being rewrites and the amount of vitriol and unrealistic criticism that has been thrown at the writers, in my opinion. I feel, we are humans and tend to be creatures of habit, so I am already hesitant and a bit eye-rolling at the absolute conviction that these "rewrites" are as severe as is portrayed. I can go back to some old, saved GH threads in the last year, few years, decades; where people claim dissatisfaction with the current regime and promote the fact that these new head writers are going to change GH for the better, fitting the storylines closer to the "mold" of what fans expect GH to be. And then, inevitably; once the new writers are in place, suddenly everything is a rewrite and characters aren't themselves, so now we want the old writers back because at least they knew our characters. Now think about how many cycles since General Hospital has aired where we have gone through this routine. And I am including myself in that 'we'.
My buffer was really just to say that everyone has characters they are preferential to and not preferential to. And so, because of that, we follow their stories more closely than others; which is why I feel I can still have a decent debate on opinions on a character I don't like and still enjoy the chaos of General Hospital, 'the show'. So even though some of these character choices don't makes sense to some, it might make sense to other since they prefer that character. For example, so far, I have been enjoying the Jason returns storyline and even though some things have irked my nerve, everything has pretty much made sense, so far. Yes, it is very very annoying when characters like Sam, Sonny (not surprising), and Liz turn against Jason. Especially if you were previously fans of those couples and somehow think Jason is still owed their loyalty. In my opinion, I feel it's an interesting contradiction and hypocritical perspective that I, as a fan, am trying to be more self-aware of.
So, in that regard, I definitely interpreted the Josslyn scene way differently than the consensus. In my opinion, Josslyn wasn't saying she didn't know Jason, Dex, or Sonny killed. I felt she was saying she didn't know how far or willing Jason or Dex would go to kill someone specifically based on Sonny's personal vendetta. Like a mob soldier. And she realized that seeing that part of Dex was not appealing to her and apparently turned her off enough to want to break up with him. And she accepts and loves Jason still, because he's family. And loving each other, right or wrong, is their family motto. Now, for Sonny and Sam, I will hold off because I feel like that part of the storyline, and others, are going to be more nuance than some think, and this is kind of the first wave. But if it lasts month of them hating Jason, then I'll be ranting. I'll see how it plays out.

John Hawkes and Timothy Olyphant in Deadwood (2004) The Trial of Jack McCall
S1E5
Swearengen transforms the Gem into a courtroom as Deadwood is forced to make its own laws to try a cowardly murderer. With Calamity Jane off on a bender, Trixie is enlisted by Swearengen to help Alma with the orphaned child and to keep her pliable to his purposes. Fearing Andy's illness might threaten his business, Cy banishes him to the woods, where he is discovered by Jane.
*While working on this episode, Timothy Olyphant (Seth Bullock) told writer/creator David Milch stories of his own childhood and getting in fights at school, and that even if he were winning, he would have tears streaming down his face. The next day, Milch wrote the scene of Seth in tears while accosting Jack McCall, who asks him why he's crying.
