housefull the infamous bollywood franchise has sexism themes and offensive jokes on lgbtqia and disabled people
i think you have your answer, then! whether or not these jokes were written in bad faith—and whether or not the comedy of these movies holds up enough to have a positive legacy despite these flaws—is up to your own judgement. and i think a lot of that can be nostalgia as well; i really doubt some of these entries would hold up if they were released today. it's not like bollywood doesn't have other comedy movies that translate just as well (if not better).
#my dad showed me jaane bhi do yaaro as a child so let's just say my view on whether housefull is a good comedy is veryyy biased#and i'm not talking about the jokes being problematic but like. as a comedy and film itself—is it really better than other hindi comedies?#✉️
