THIS IS THE FIRST PART.

idk why but i wanna show tumblr my aranara quests themed custom tarot deck lmao. i finished it in february but since i created this acc just recently, i gotta put it here now. im just really proud of this project and the fact that i actually finished it.

unfortunately tumblr will only allow me to add 10 pics per post, while there are 23 cards, so that kinda sucks. will have to separate em it seems. i'll also explain a little about my choices on these. so here we go, first ten.

0 the fool - "where the journey begins". i think its already a tradition to put some main figure on the fool card and so did i. glad i used his correct design for the card-

basically theres nothing to explain except for the monarch butterfly symbolism, which usually is a sign of a chosen. not like Arama is any "chosen" in a common sense, but i felt like adding this anyway. 6/10 nice Arama card.

I the magican - creation and manipulation. Aranimba got here for his exclusive sense of beauty and the will to create the beauty. he is an artist after all.

the story of the bg is kinda wonky. it was at release of 3.4 and due to my disappointment i made a pic where Aranimba points at that shiny cave northwest the mt. damavand with excitement. well, now its a boss enterance, but back then i had no clue, i made it literally at the release day lol. but it worked well on the bg of this card. i think you wouldnt guess it was that cave if i didnt tell, and that was done on purpose as well. 8/10 for backstory, and im proud of this card overall.

II the high priestess - waiting for the impulse from outside, confidence. first of all, the high priestess to me was always associated with some whimsy loud woman, and if you ask me, this is where Arapacati fits. however here she is depressively hugging a viparyas cuz she kicked her brothers a decade ago and now shes sad. what did i tell u about whimsy woman? 6/10, solid.

III the empress - the mother, fertility, the birth of a new. THIS IS WHERE WE STARTED, THE MAMA. no need to explain why i put Rukkhadevata here? 6/10, i struggled with this card cuz i hate drawing people, but it came out solid imo.

IV the emperor - the father, discipline, responsibility. to remind you, Araja is basically the one who runs the Vanarana dream realm, the tree of dreams. he is also here for a very simple reason because of being a big boss here, and looking like one as well. 7/10, nice mustache.

V the hierophant - attention to visible and invisible, search of the essence. if you ask me why i put Arapandu here, theres my answer - because he was the only major character who didnt have a card in the process of planning. i have some really vague explaination why exactly on hierophant, its mostly because of Varunastra actually, not Arapandu. i honestly dont have any emotional connection to Arapandu, he's kinda boring. 4/10.

VI the lovers - chosen by heart, determination and aspiration. ONLY BECAUSE OF SUCH INTERPRETATION. im against shipping aranara x anyone.

i think i wouldnt even make any better choice for this card whatsoever. they are here because they share dreams and aspirations and i really love their duet. 9/10 i teared.

VII the chariot - knowledge of the world, searching for the new. these goofy guys are here mostly because of "searching for the new", even though their methods were unsafe and archon knows what would happen to these dummies without any sense of self-preservation if we werent around. fact: they've been wondering for at least 4 years, but i love to say a decade. nay, theyre just very lucky. 5/10.

VIII justice - "play nice, and others will play nice with you". this is a card for Nara Varuna specifically and i decided to make both Lumine and Aether so that everyone will be satisfied. since Nara Varuna did nice in the past, all the aranara praise their name in the present.

the bg is again kinda symbolic. these are runes on Varuna contraption: "the water", when the rain pours, for Lumine, and "the sky", when its sunny, for Aether. i only hate how i made them so vague that theyre barely recognizable eh. but overall good cards, 6/10.

Umm, I dont really talk about myself (so it is hard for me), but if you wanna know me a tiny bit more, then its under the cut.

I have 4 cats and I absolutely love them. One family (and hunting) dog. And some chikens with one goose. I love all of them very much!

I am terrible with plants, really. I destroy them with my kindness.

I rarely draw but I'm trying, I really am. I'm just really afraid of being judged. So if I get even just a like I get so so so happy!

I love to chat, talk, text anything! But I am bad in starting a conversation. I like better when the people are taking the first step to reach out for me (I think everyone is like with this). Because if I do I'm afraid that I only disturb them.. and I think I just realized that I might have problems with rejection. Oh wow

I feel like I don't know myself. Everywhere I read and hear these things that "no one is know you better than yourself" and I'm standing there like "wow, you are not helping at all".

I play games, mostly on pc. Resently I try to find some time to play Batman Arkham City (I have the others too, and I already finished Batman Arkham Asylum story mode and I like to go in order). I'm waiting for Hollow Knight Silksong to come out, yes I played Hollow Knight and its a beautiful game and I just coudnt finish the whole game because I stopped playing (maybe because of school) and its really hard to get in back. I also play Dead Cells and I am really excited for the series!! (I could rant about games for so long so I might just stop here.................. Don't Starve, Stardew Valley, Aragami, Dark Souls, Undertale and Delatarune, Terraria!!!)

I love books! Will I read them? Yes; when I won't find any more fanfics to read. Oh gosh I love reading so much!

I love music as well, I cannot really say a specific genre but my favorite musician right now is TheFatRat (and favorite music from him is Close to the Sun).

I usually leave projects. I don't always finish what I start. This can be a book, drawing, series or a movie.

8. What do you like most about your own work?

...I feel like the thing I get complimented on most is the colors, but tbh? i like how ..flexible? I am sometimes. like I feel pretty good saying I can switch up my style pretty drastically when I feel like it, which is a nice thing to be able to do. (I owe it to yrs of trying to imitate very specific anime styles LMAO)

...this is gonna sound SO conceited but I had a hard time picking bc I liked a lot of drawings from last year (which is funny considering I dont think I did that many compared to other years...)

i kind of want to say one from my ekleipsis illustration series just bc they are SO different from my regular cutesty style, it was FUN doing smth so out of my comfort zone!

like, whos style is this? certainly not my Usual, does not feel like a ME drawing but thats kinda why I liked it a lot...felt like I was proving a point to myself 😭 all of them in that series are kinda like this bc the story had borderline horror fantasy elements lol

24. How do you deal with artblock?

it Depends. the thing abt art block is that it happens for different reasons (at least in my case) and its easier to fix when i know WHY its happening. dont feel like working on a comm? thats a self-discipline issue, gotta prioritize it, its a job I am being paid for, so Gotta do those. (even if usually fun, art block has been known to happen w them before lol) not liking a drawing and getting frustrated so I dont wanna keep working on it? skill issue or lacking technical knowledge probably, time to dig for refs or do studies. bored of looking at the current drawing? well now the issue is I Need to figure out how to make it more interesting, or go work on smth else for a while. and honestly a lot of the time it personally helps me a lot to just...step away from art for a bit. maybe a few weeks or even months before...during that time I focus on other art forms (like, I'll not draw but write or craft or smth) OR just try to find new artists, and sit and analyze THEIR work. what do I like abt their styles? what makes it work? i find it helps me appreciate my own art more when I love other ppls, esp when I see speedpaints or smth and can appreciate their processes too ^_^ and having fresh eyes after a while of not drawing is...nice? refreshing...weirdly enough lol.

Yo Hajime talk abt ur kin mems

since there were no specifications on which ones i am going to start from the beginning and go where my brain takes me from there. they're all gonna be for hajime bc i physically cannot think about my other memories anymore jsyk

also! this ended up being so long i had to put a cut. i will not be apologizing because i feel no remorse.

so first the basic stuff, i remember having a med skin tone and a FUCK ton of freckles like those motherfuckers were everywhere i had skin. also i was 5'7 i think?? or 5'6. i still can't remember exactly but it's something like that. i was also alloaro, some form of mlm, unfortunately cis, and autistic and probably had some other stuff like adhd or depression or whatever but i forgot. also i was kinda muscle-y but also chubby at the same time. and i had light green eyes. basically i was fanon hajime JSJSKDJDKS

and i was going over the wiki recently and my personality was EXACTLY how they described it like i'm genuinely surprised they got it so accurate

i don't remember much pre-game and post game, most of my memories are in game but i do remember pre game chiaki really well, honestly i rly miss her :( she would always reassure me that i didn't need a talent and i never even cared when she beat me in games cus just simply playing them with her was so fun .,.,,;:,,...,,!:&:&:jsjdjskskck</3

anyways. in game. ok. i'm gonna skip over memories where i just know feelings and not specific things like strong feelings or ppl saying stuff or else this would be so long. also obvious sdr2 spoilers

so i remember the party & blackout in the beginning of the game pretty clearly. i was mostly just standing alone in the corner and watching everyone have fun, but it was really freeing to see the others able to enjoy themselves in such pressing circumstances. then the blackout-- it was kinda like all that happiness going away and the dread and denial immediately setting in .

anyways i remember like panicking and wanting to cry when i lifted the table cloth cus i really liked twogami. i'm p sure i did end up crying cus i really liked them for their realism and leadership skills, and the realization that one of us killed them and that the killing game was actually real etc etc

anyway i don't remember much from the investigation or trial besides being really freaked out when nagito basically admitted to being the killer n stuff, and pretty much all the body discoveries after that (besides ch 5) we're just like "ah shit here we go again" but i do remember mikans trial really freaking me out when she just straight up shifted completely, and i also remember being really proud of fuyuhiko for putting his walls down a bit and deciding to help everyone out while the despair disease was going around

anyway enough of the boring stuff, i spent basically all my free time with komaeda, chiaki and mikan (in order of frequency) and with mikan i mostly listened to her talk about medical stuff and i comforted her when she needed to vent, but i didn't hang out with her much because the constant apologizing n stuff started to bother me since i really liked seeing her happy. chiaki i would mostly play games with and we wouldn't talk much, but she gave me a really strong sense of familiarity like when we played games together it gave me a shit ton of deja vu

AND i've already talked a lot about komaeda but idc i'm doing it again. so we started talking cus of him waking me up on the beach obvs and i was pretty attached right off the bat, but i stopped talking to him for awhile because the way he acted in the first trial REALLY scared me so i just got a pit in my stomach even being around him

but he was the one who started approaching me first, i'm guessing since he couldn't rly sense anything was wrong he just kinda picked things up where they left off and started talking w me at breakfast n stuff and it was pretty weird at first, but i wanted to give him a chance and didn't wanna be rude so i accepted offers to hang out in his cottage n stuff

i remember he has surgery scars tho and i'm rly mad ppl don't draw him with any!! i think he had about 5 and i don't remember all of them but i know one was a skin graft on his leg and the one on his side/stomach that i touched wassssss for appendix removal maybe???? mmmm i'm not too sure about that one tho

also !!!! his death. hoooooly shit. ok so yunno the despair that junko always talks about ?????? yeah <3!! i remember like once i saw his body and took the reality in i just. straight up could NOT stand i like fell to my knees and jsut . cried. like i had no thoughts my head was so full that it was empty i just kinda sat there and silent cried while chiaki stood next to me it was so awful dude

later while investigating n stuff i felt really bad ab how i treated him and thought about him, and i thought a lot about our last interaction. it was the first time i had ever approached him myself cus usually he'd come to me. i was gonna hang out with chiaki but i wanted to check up on him first, so i did and he told me to go hang out with the others and i just. knew something terrible was about to happen.

For this gif tutorial I’m going to try to keep it as basic as possible, I may add a few tips for coloring at the end, but for the most part this is going to be how I make my basic gif. Also I’m not going to use my vapoursynth to process the video beforehand, just because I know not everyone uses it and it’s harder to learn. This is going to be just a downloaded mp4 video through the gif process. Don’t let the idea that this is a BASIC TUTORIAL fool you, I’m going to try to teach you a lot of things. It’s gonna get wordy, but i will try my hardest to keep the process easy. I’m just going to explain what things do instead of having you just copy + paste my method and not know what it means. okay? okay.

Before we start though, if you plan of giffing live stages you either need to accept the they will not be super crisp and clear OR learn how to use avisynth/vapoursynth to resize the videos without quality loss.

If you just want to gif music videos or variety shows then this should still give you HQ gifs.

Other notes:

try to ONLY use 1080p and up video if possible, maybe 720p if you’re really desperate, but anything under that... it’s not going to look good at all, so try to avoid using them.

The Photoshop I am using is PS 2020, so all my screenshots will be from that version and with my weird set up. But I’ve been using pretty much the same method since cc 2015 so other than the fact that some placements and names are tweaked, it’s the same. (If you can’t find something on your version shoot me an ask and I’ll try to help! And asks I get on this tutorial I’ll link HERE for future reference) 

CUTTING VIDEO

To cut videos I’ll just use my quicktime player.

I use edit > trim to select the portion of the video I plan to gif and save that as it’s own new mov file.

which pops up this tab 

that you just slide until the part you want to gif is selected

then just save it as a new video and your done with part 1

ENTER PHOTOSHOP

Now what we’ll do is open our photoshop and import that clip into layers

FILE > IMPORT > VIDEO FRAMES TO LAYERS and select your video.

A small pop up will appear to show the clip you’re opening, you can trim it further here or just keep going by clicking okay

my setup is weird for drawing BUT you should have it looking remotely like this: 

The things you will DEFINITELY need to see are TIMELINE, LAYERS, ADJUSTMENTS. If you don’t have these sections you can add them to your screen by clicking on the WINDOW tab at the very top menu bar and clicking on them

LAYERS - this is pretty self explanatory but each row is a layer in the gif. the more layers the bigger the gif will end up, the longer it plays. So bigger clips will have more layers and end up as larger gifs in the end.

TIMELINE - This is where you can edit the gifs timing (make it faster or slower) 

We’ll be doing a bit of work with it so it’s important to know it well

ADJUSTMENTS - Best friend and worst nightmare. this is where ALL the tedious recoloring is done. VERY rarely would you not use these. 99.9% of kpop things are filmed through a green or blue lense so you’ll want to fix that to not have ghost idols

So, Let’s make a gif

Step 1 - In the top right corner of your timeline is a set of lines, click there and then click SELECT ALL FRAMES

under each frame is a time stamp (this video’s is 0.04) this decides how fast each clip goes by, or how quickly the gif moves. Personally I prefer slower gifs, but I say anywhere between 0.04-0.06 is a decent speed.

Step 2 - with all the frames selected, click on the small down arrow next to any of the frames and change the speed to your liking. (I’m going to use .06)

Step 3 - in that same tab of lines we’ll now click CONVERT TO VIDEO TIMELINE, which will change our Timeline to look like this:

Step 4 - Back in our very TOP menu we’ll click SELECT > ALL LAYERS, then on the TOP menu click FILTER > CONVERT FOR SMART FILTERS (this might take your computer a minute since our File is still pretty large.) Now our Time line will look like this: 

Step 5 - Sharpening

This one is VERY MUCH something you’re going to have to play with to get your settings to be how you like them. It’s also where I’d use topaz adjustments, BUT since I said we’re doing basic PS gif we’re just going to be using smart sharpening. SO: 

 in the TOP munu again, click FILTER > SHARPEN > SMART SHARPEN

A pop up window will appear and you can edit the settings to your liking. Mine:

Step 6 - Resize your gif or crop it to tumblrs standards:  big singal gifs have a 540px width ||  Two gifs use 268px || and three gifs use 177/178px

To do this we’ll use the crop tool and type in our dimensions in the menu bar:

and then crop to your liking. (this doesnt resize the gif it just crops to the correct ratio so we still have to shrink the gif) 

Next, we’ll resize the gif to that size in the TOP menu click IMAGE > IMAGE SIZE a pop up menu will appear and you’ll type in your resize ratio and click enter.

Now technically thats a gif. it’s TECHNICALLY done. but mine is white washed and there are words on it that I dont want so onto the coloring and blurring. 

First I’m going to show you how I blur text on gifs. because text is EVERYWHERE in kpop content and it’s hideous and I hate it. so lets kill it.

BLURRING LETTERING

First we’re going to add a new blank layer to our LAYER TAB by clicking the little box with the + inside at the bottom

Sometimes doing this can mess up the timeline’s selection but its SUPER easy to fix so lets do that. 

So in our timeline we have these two bars on each side that select what part of the gif will play. this is also where you can readjust your gif if it has extra frames at the end, or it ends up being too large and you have to make the gif smaller to save it. Just click and drag the bars back to where our gif actually ends, and all is fixed!

Now on our new layer we’re gonna take a paint brush (one of the ones with a lot of fade NOT the solid circle ) and paint over where the words are like so:

MAKE SURE ITS ON OUR BLANK LAYER AND NOT THE GIF LAYER!!

I know it looks stupid but trust me okay. 

Now in your LAYER tab we’re going to duplicate our gif layer by right clicking on it and selecting duplicate. 

Then we’re going to drag the new gif layer so that it’s above the paint layer in our LAYER tab :

Now, right click on the top gif layer and select CREATE CLIPPING MASK. it should put a little down arrow to the left of the picture, toward the paint layer. This means the gif is ONLY visible where that paint is now.

So we’re going to click on FILTER in the TOP menu again (while we still have that top gif selected!) and Go to BLUR > GAUSSIAN BLUR. a pop up menu will appear and you can just drag the radius until the text is as blurry as you want it to be. (also IF you missed part of the text, you can just go add more paint to your paint layer and it will blur wherever you paint!) 

so now my gif is like so:

So now we’ll color him, because he’s pretty washed out.

ADJUSTMENTS

This is where I’m going to be the least specific about what I do and more about what tools do, so that you can learn how to color things the way you like them!

The Adjustment tab on Photoshop has 16 options but I’m really only going to talk about 6 of them. We’ll do it in order though. All the actual adjustment tools will open in the PROPERTIES tab

Brightness / Contrast  - Pretty self explanatory, but definitely should be toward the end of your coloring, as if can effect the quality a lot. Small adjustments do A LOT so don’t go crazy, 

Levels - Levels is all about the balance of how dar or light your gifs will be if you adjust in the RGB layer it will adjust for the entire image, but if you change the selection to RED/GREEN/BLUE it will adjust just those colors hues. Also there are three small droppers to the left of the graph. using those you can select which part of the gif you want the image to recognize as the lightest/darkest part of the gif, and the tool will adjust the gifs coloring to that point. ( play with those droppers! magic happens i swear!) 

Curves - Kind of like levels but instead of how light or dark the entire image is it works more on contrast. REALLY play with the curves options, i’m sure most things you can do with other tools can also just be done in curves if you’re patient enough to learn

Vibrance / Saturation -  Vibrance will make duller parts of an image higher contract and brighter and saturation will make everything a more neon shade. or in reverse lowering vibrance will dull out the things that were already neutral and saturation will dull out the more vibrant parts of the image (usually reds)

Color Balance - Good for fixing tones. so if a live stage is SUPER BLUE!!!!! you can readjust and calm down the blues to dull them out or get rid of them completely. Again play with this its insane what it can do 

Selective Color - adjusts the different colors in your image without touching the other colors. if you wanna touch the reds, make them pinker but not change the blues and greens, you do it here

If you want MORE drawn out explanations of what each of the 16 adjustment layers do here and here are actual articles you can look at.  But it’s all about practice. playing with all the adjustments alone and together. Finding out what you like to do!

Now when you gif is ALLLLL colored and you’re ready to save it we do FILE > EXPORT > SAVE FOR THE WEB and a whole new window of options pops up. I’ll give you two examples of how to play with those options and then we’re done! 

keep in MIND tumblr’s gif limit is 10MB which is pretty huge now, but still watch your gif size!!!!

AND SAVE your done!

Oh FUCK dude i did not see this i’m so fucking sorry this is so late 😭 damn you, tumblr, for not fucking notifying me!! Anyway buckle up this is gonna be much longer than you asked for <3

Honestly ive kinda been drawing all my life! I hope that doesnt sound dumb cuz obviously almost everyone drew pictures when they were kids, but i know that it’s been a consistent hobby for me since i was little. By the time i was in 3rd grade I was hoarding notebooks to draw in. Cuz that’s something fun about me: i had a real huge habit of drawing in things that werent sketchbooks. Through middle school and beyond I did buy/receive sketchbooks, but I started out with various kinds of notebooks. One I had from like 2nd grade was like a hardcover, stationary-type notebook that I drew cats in lol, and I have 2 velvet lisa frank notebooks from 3rd grade. In high school and college I had a really bad habit of drawing in the margins on my notes and on handouts the teacher/professor would give. Those classes where the prof just prints out all the notes beforehand and gives them to you to follow along? Oh man, I spent so many classes barely listening while I drew on them! I also used to draw on my physics homework and tests and sometimes I even got extra credit for them (thank you jeff :D). I actually have a folder of various drawings I’ve kept from that 8yr time period and a lot of them are on classwork 😂

Obviously, I’ve been doing a lot of digital art lately, which I’m sure is what u were more curious about rather than the shit about drawing on my homework. I got a surface pro as a graduation gift in 2016 bc prior to that i had a wacom tablet and a janky ass laptop, so the gift was kinda a 2-in-1: i can do schoolwork AND art easily! i like digital art a lot and honestly im still learning new things abt it every time i draw. I use Leonardo currently (i’ll skip that story) but I started out doing digital art on sketchfu WITHOUT the wacom tablet in maaaaybe 2012??? 2011??? does anyone on this site remember sketchfu? Honestly couldnt even tell u how i found that site hahah the internet was just full of wonders back in the day. RIP sketchfu. Once i got the tablet tho some time later i used sketchfu still (i think) but also gimp and krita i believe.

Oh i suppose I should mention that i took art all four years of highschool and also minored in it in college! So it’s something i did academically as well as for fun. I keep thinking about going to art school for realsies but idk. I’m already $$$ in debt from my first degree i dont feel like adding to that 😅😓

Ok now for the second part of your question: I’ve also pretty much always done fan art! Ive never really been one for OC’s, EXCEPT for the self-insert superhero double life “comics” i wrote about a poodle named Sassy when i was in third grade. And then the knock off “comics” i wrote at a later time which honestly it was weird that i did a knock off of my own thing rather than just adding them to the original or making it a spin off with at least one of the og characters. Cuz it wasnt a spin off!! But anyway there wasnt really much to any of these characters; i just needed vessels to get my weird ideas out.

So anyway yeah most of what ive ever drawn has been fan art or self portraits, because its just easier for me to take characters that already exist and bend them to my will (artistically). Well excluding art assignments in school i guess because i would usually have to draw something specific and therefore not something self indulgent. But yeah ive drawn for lots of fandoms like the earliest i remember is warrior cats. Then theres things like pokemon and warriors and random other books i read thru middle school (i used to read a LOT but now im practically illiterate); spn, sherlock, and marvel through high school; and then marvel and bttf thru the end of hs and beyond. Idk i also have always loved looking at other peoples fan art and so im like “shit i wanna do that too!”. Tho i will say marvel was my biggest fandom and the one i had the longest interest in, so that was probably where the passion REALLY came from cuz I was drawing marvel stuff for such a long time (tho not posting shdjsk u have to trust me), but ive been doing fan art forever :)

(Of course, a lot of the fan art i was making prior to recently was drawn in lined notebooks or on homework sheets or what have you, and I wasn’t posting really any of it, but i was still making it and a good chunk of it still exists. Oh i should also mention most of it was with pencils or ballpoint pens like i wasnt doing anything too fancy. There was some digital art in the highschool-college time frame but it also really wasnt…much. Honestly i barely posted any of it here but I know some of it’s on deviantart)

I cant pinpoint the exact time I started getting more “serious” about my art in general, but i know the first pandemic lockdown gave me more free time and i was less stressed about schoolwork so i just kinda had a good outlet. (Tho i will say that prior, I had been in a life drawing club for a short while, and i had also been working on a personal sketchbook project that had me pretty ~inspired~ to do art. Also i watched twin peaks around this time and it inspired a lot of Feelings and i was making funky collages and other art pieced that were sometimes related to that. Some of those are on deviantart)

Honestly I think the Big thing with my digital art was coincidentally getting back into BTTF the summer of the 35th anniversary bc the fandom here was THRIVING and i was like “oh shit wait i want to contribute!” But as i kept drawing i kept wanting to improve and that leads us to right now where im constantly trying new things (whether subtle or obvious) and challenging myself to do full body drawings with different poses, and doing screencap redraws and what have you for various reasons (backgrounds, proportions, pose, etc)

So yeah :) Basically I’ve been doing fan art forever (I didnt even get into all the mediums ive tried but that’s another conversation bc this is already so long and convoluted) and it’s kinda coincidental that ive suddenly really gotten back into it and have improved dramatically in such a short time. thanks for this nice ask! i use paint tool sai, specifically the anglicized version that you can find online.

lets draw bernie fire emblem and go through my process.

first off, my brushes.

this is the brush i use for sketching, coloring, and cleaning. sometimes for highlights in the eyes or the rough first patch of shading, i also use ink pen, just the default settings.

this is my blending brush. if you give it a texture, blending stuff wont look as boring as it otherwise might. 

now, let’s draw bernadetta.

(1) first of all, the rough sketch. i start out with just shapes and then just keep going, all on one layer.

(2) then, i clean that sketch up a little - not too much, you dont need it to look perfect. i dont like drawing lineart at all, so this is what i work with - the sketch, a bit cleaned up, put on multiply. i change the color of the sketch according to what im drawing. for example, if i draw a character like inigo, whos got brown skin and hair, ill end up with yellow, orange or red lineart. if i draw a character during the night, ill use blue lineart. if its dusk, maybe a strong purple. you can change this later, as well.

next, below, i fill in the colors, usually about a layer for each color i use. i usually start out with the hair and end with skin, but it doesnt really matter. try to use colors that vary in saturation and brightness - if everything is very saturated, things end up looking blinding, but if everything is desaturated, it might be boring to look at. this isnt a hard rule, of course, but for this kind of normal illustration with neutral lighting conditions, its good to keep in mind.

now, onto shading. here i used the ink pen for a moment. take your base color, in this case bernies purple hair. the highlight is less saturated, and moves up the color wheel, more toward a reddish tone. the shadow is more saturated, and moves down, toward a blue-ish purple. you can also make the highlight more saturated than the base and the shadow less saturated than the base, but i think its best to decide on one or the other. moving along the color wheel rather than just decreasing or increasing brightness will also help making the picture more vivid.

for hair and gauntlets, i just put on the shadow and highlight and blend it out with the blend tool. for skin and fabric, i use a different method.

first, add blush. blush should be far more saturated than the skin color. i added a touch of deep red in the middle as well for depth. this should be blended.

the shadows on the skin, however, i fill in with ink pen. some parts of this need hard lines, like the outside of the ear shadow, the lower side of the nose shadow, etc. you dont just want an airbrushed look, but a defined line. for this, i use a shade that is slightly more saturated than the base color, but not as saturated as the blush.

then, i add a lowlight color to make the shadow feel more dynamic and interesting. you can go many ways with this - if you check the coat in the next few images, youll see that i used a less saturated color to counteract the very orange shadow. in the case of her skin, i used a more saturated color that is very pink to mimic her hair. i cant really explain this step well, because most of the time, i get to that shade through experimenting.

blend some of the lowlight, but make sure not to ruin the harder lines of the shadow. i did it on the same layer as the base color because im lazy, but you could easily make a clipped layer, add the shadow, and then preserve opacity to make sure everything stays clean. for my purpes it doesnt really matter though since ill be going over the whole thing during cleaning again.

in the circled areas, i took the blush color and gently airbrushed some on for depth and warmth.

heres the rest of the shading. as i said, i used a less saturated reddish tone for the lowlight in the cape. for the bow and cape, i opted out of highlight, because i imagine them as made out of a sort of thick, unreflective fabric. 

now, all thats left to do is clean! i make a new layer atop everything, zoom in a bit, and go over it all with my brush and the eyedrop tool. a lot of my WIPs look like this, with a part of it very crisp and clean and most of it still sketchy and vague lol. colordrop from everywhere, and create something nice!

in the end, this is the finished picture! i turn the blend on my brush up and down depending on what im doing and what i need. the cleaning process takes the longest by far.

Arthur // wc: 499.

There’s a seventeen year difference between the two of you and there’s a four inch difference in height between the two of you so to say that Arthur was protective of you was… an understatement. Arthur would be fascinated by the way that you dress. People in Gotham are usually quite repressed and they don’t take kindly to any type of individuality, so your confidence in being self-expressive would really be something which Arthur greatly admires and he’d absolutely compliment you every time he sees you; your hair, your clothing, everything. He would want to believe that spending large quantities of time with you would also make some of your confidence rub off on him, and years later would he think himself to be right. Arthur has his own share of childhood trauma so he would understanding the struggle and though he wouldn’t ever pry, he would make it known that he’s always there for you if you want to vent or talk about it; he wouldn’t coddle. Not only because he’s emotionally intelligent enough to know that you don’t appreciate it even without his having to ask you, but also because he knows that that approach can sometimes do more harm than good, and he would want you to know that he’s proud of you every single day, that he loves you, and that he’s there for you no matter what. He’d definitely overall be very protective of you, all things listed here considered. 

Arthur adores watching you get lost in your element while you draw or write. He never pries or intrudes and during late evenings does he like to sit with you while he writes in his joke book and you in your diary. You always look so cosy, curled up with your cat and your craft, and when you get lost in a daydream, Arthur would smile softly to himself and hope that, at least a little was he featured within somehow. Your interests in psychology and philosophy are intense and though Arthur wouldn’t understand much of the material which you study, he would want to; and he’d often ask you questions, especially about those topics which specifically hold your interest. He admires your intellect and loves to relax to the sound of your voice as you tell him about the latest subject.

You both tend to obsess over people and things; Arthur, because it’s a defence mechanism borne of a life of daily abuse and you for your own reasons. You’re selective over the people with whom you choose to befriend and that never ceases to make Arthur blush and stammer; you chose him, of all people?! He feels unworthy of your attention but he dares not question it, for fear of you finally realising that you deserve so much better than him. Nothing scares Arthur quite like the thought of you leaving him and so, though he doesn’t understand it, he keeps quiet. He loves you just as fiercely and deeply, after all.

If you thought that Arthur was protective of you before, then you’re in for a bit of a shock!! He’s even more protective now and he’s definitely less inclined to hide his almost overbearing manner of looking after you. He doesn’t coddle you, but after all this time is he excellent at figuring out your body language, your physical tells… He knows when you’re okay and when you’re not and he’d often check in on you, making sure that you’re okay. Joker doesn’t appreciate or tolerate insincerity, even from you, so be sure to answer him honestly. He’d coo sympathetically when you don’t feel so good and he’d sit down beside you and take both of your hands in his larger ones, his green eyes keeping you pinned in place as he listens to everything which is bothering you, and then he’d quietly but firmly voice his solutions and any advice which he thought may be of use to you. He’s so tender, and so intelligent, and in these moments does he really show you just how much he loves you. When you do feel good and you tell him so, he nods, satisfied, and tugs on his blazer as he looks around the room for something to do. He doesn’t coddle you, but he also doesn’t hide his innate level of care and protectiveness over you. 

By this point in your relationship is it well known to the both of you your nightly routine; Joker gets in from whatever he did during the day while you’re curled up with your cat and drawing or writing. He won’t disturb you, but he might dare to rest a hand on your shoulder for a moment as he walks past you, letting you know silently that he’s there for you and that he loves you. When you’re done drawing or writing, Joker waits for you to get settled before he puts his head in your lap, green oceans looking up at you expectantly. “So what is it today, Y/N? What are you gonna’ tell me?” and he gets comfortable, his eyes drifting shut as your fingers find his hair and you weave him a tale of the latest psychological journal released in the papers, or of a new philosophical school of thoughts which interests you. Joker is your biggest supporter and really, nothing has changed in your relationship. It’s only deepened and become something more than it was before. 

Both of you still obsess over people and things and now more than ever is Joker blown away daily by the fact that of all people, you chose him as Arthur and you stayed through his mental break until, “It’s Joker now, darling!” and you’re still here now. It baffles him but still does he not dare to question it, question you. He just accepts it as he is in much the same way as he accepted you for all that you are, all that you have been and all that you ever will be. Joker takes a massive interest in your interests because it’s just another way for him to support you, get to know you a little more and the like. The first time that you said you wanted to “werewolf and go wild with you, please?”, he blinked prettily a few times, his cheeks caressed by his long lashes as he did so, and then a slow, sure real devilish smirk took over his face, aided only by the macabre crimson red painted grin. “Sure you can, doll.” and with a few happy skips over to you did he take your hand in yours, his fingers sliding between the gaps in your own, and the two of you terrorised Gotham. You didn’t always go with him, for sometimes did Joker just need his alone time, and you needed yours, too, but when you did, it was a night no one in the entire city would forget for a while, so wide spread were your joint destructive, morally grey tendencies. J doesn’t really care that you’re roughly a decade younger than he is. You’re a fully informed, consenting adult who knows your own mind, so where’s the problem? He’s got bigger plans to consider, if nothing else. Your general aesthetic is something which J quite enjoys; it looks just dark enough to fit in with his own sense of organised chaos and he’d definitely steal tailor made outfits for you, leaving them in your apartment with nothing but a joker card resting atop the bag it came in. He would expect you to wear them, and when next he sees you in them does he smirk, his intense chocolate eyes looking you up and down, a slow smirk spreading across his face. “Looks good on ya’, doll”; somehow does J know your exact measurements. If you ask him how, he would only shrug; but really, he just has a very exacting eye so one look at you from head to toe was he able to accurately guess your size. You’re both dealing with untold traumas; and J is far less likely to ever open up about them than you are. He remains something of a mystery, even to you, and there’s not even a little risk of being coddled by J. The mere thought makes his nose wrinkle in disgust, “Not gonna’ coddle ya’, Y/N. But if you, ah - if you want some help, I can - listen.” and he would definitely do what he could. You would lay side by side on the bed, an arm carelessly slung around your waist. J listens carefully, silently, and then he’d grunt and say something strangely profound which comforts you, even though what he said isn’t, really, all that comforting. He knows and he understands the pain of trauma, having had more than his fair share of it, so he knows well how to deal with it. 

You’re artistic but you’re also eloquent with words, so used are you to writing in a diary. J wouldn’t be all that bothered by your maladaptive daydreaming (unless you are, in which case he would do what he could to help you with it in his rough but caring manner) and he’d shrug and largely leave you to it when you get caught up in it; at least you’re occupied and he doesn’t have to worry about your safety while he’s off blowing up factories and tormenting Batman for the sake of it. You’re into the inner workings of the mind and truthfully so is J; though he’s “ahead of the curve” and knows exactly what goes on in people’s minds without even having to study it; so intelligent and wise is he. When J’s off during the day while you’re attending to your daily responsibilities, his goons keep an eye on you; he receives an hourly update on what you’re doing, where you are and the like; so protective of what’s his is he, but to put you on equal footing does at least one of his goons give you an hourly update; this small piece of trust which J puts in you means more to you than anything else he could have done to show you such a thing.

You both obsess over people; you, over those whom you choose to allow into your life, and J with Batman and getting the man to betray his tight moral compass. You come together in this fascination of each other and though you sometimes wonder what it is about you that keeps J coming back to you, truthfully does he wonder what you keep coming back for, though of course as quickly as the thoughts come does he brush them off. His thoughts can easily take a downward turn if he doesn’t control them, so he prefers to not entertain them. You’re quite adept at reading J’s body language, his physical tells, and you can predict his mood and motives nine times out of ten; this means that you are the perfect person to accompany him on whatever it is that he likes to do. You only ever go with him when he’s sure that you’re not going to be put in any kind of danger. As I said, J protects what’s his and you’re no exception to this. “You and I are partners in life and in crime, aren’t we?” He’d giggle and then offer you a tryout; you pass, of course, and so it comes to pass that J and Y/N are two names which are spoken as one; for where one goes is the other sure to follow.

Going with your mundane life of caring for the dozen of guys hurting themselves in the soccer game takes a turn when one of the guys catches your eyes. It’s not his breathtakingly good looks or his muscular athletic body usually seducing girls at the campus that catches your eyes. But the action plan in your kit, indicating he is diagnosed with Asthma is what draws your eyes time and time again to the Golden Boy of Hanguk University.

Pulling the zipper of your jacket, you place the box of first aid kits on one of the empty seats while occupying the one beside it. Your eyes glance over at the grass field, having a quick headcount over the team.

Working as the Hanguk University’s sport's trainer part-time, while studying rehabilitation and physiotherapy at the same time is the most exciting your life can get.

You still dont even know how you ended up in this job, instead of something more conventional like a cafe or restaurant part-timer or an admin assistant in one of the clinics near the school.

Stumbling upon an ad in your freshman year, you applied for the position and before you knew you were on the side of the grass field with a first aid kit , ready to take care of 22 men running around for a single ball.

The game stops with the whistle comes from across the field and you quickly stand up, rushing to the mini icebox to grab some cold water for the guys.

On the days they are calm and dont try to kill each other off in the field, the hardest thing you do is handing the bottles of water to the guys who are about to drown the field in their sweats.

"Thanks!" Hoseok mouths, gasping for air as he grabs a bottle from you and gulps half of its content in one go.

You flash a quick smile before bending down for a couple more. Hoseok is the captain of Hanguk University's soccer team, and perhaps the most civil these guys can probably get. 

"Hey Sugar," you hear the familiar deep voice, feeling a sticky hand touching the palm of your hand while taking the bottle of water off you.

You quickly retract, sighing in frustration as you come up to face the owner of the voice.

"No, you're alright, Sugar," Taehyung smirks, "I liked the sight of you better down there."

"Too bad, The show is over Tae." you roll your eyes, hugging the masses of bottles against your chest while handing it to the rushes of guys who look at you like fishes deprived of water.

"You dont have to play hard to get, Sugar!" he coos gulping a sip of his water, "Its been about 2 years you get a good sight of me every week, shouldnt you pay back somehow?"

"Mhmm Sure," you nod as you bend down to grab a couple more to quickly leave the guy on his own and possibly hand some water to the others "But I'd like compensation for my poor eyes first." you spit back nonchalantly walking pass him

You hear a couple of guys laughing at your remark, while you walk through the masses of them, handing out a couple of bottles to those who haven't had the privilege to receive one from you yet.

Your footsteps stop at the sight of the guy, who's bending over and coughing tightly while gasping for air, his eyebrows furrowed close together in something you'd recognize as pain.

"You alright?" you ask, stepping closer to him

"Y-Yeah, " the guy with his wide doe eyes replies, looking up at you "for me?"

You nod, examining his face as you hand him the bottle of water. Jeon Jungkook, Hanguk Soccer Team's Golden Boy. After recieving gold medals for being the under 15 and under 18 top soccer players, he was offered a full scholarship from the university into the team. He basically is the star of the show whenever there is a game going. 

You, however, know him through some other unfortunate situations. More specifically the asthma action plan, with his full name and ID along with his MDI inhaler in your toolbox.

"Thanks!" he mouths, barely audible before indulging himself on the cold fluid

"Are you sure you're alright-"

"I'm fine," he spits, looking back at you with an angry expression which has you retracting immediately "Didnt you hear?"

"Fine!" You reply, slightly caught off guard by his small tantrum "You know the deal, go see Dr Kim if anything-"

"Hyung," he shouts over your voice, interrupting you for the second time "Nice dribbles just now, mind showing me the tricks?"

"No problem Jeon." Hoseok chirps in his usual cheerful tone

You puff the air in your lungs out in frustration, walking past him towards the end of the field to see the coach sitting there on his own. The old man smiles upon seeing you, quickly motioning the seat beside himself for you to sit in.

You continue watching the rest of the game along with the coach who keeps screaming instructions for the boys at the top of his lungs. Your eyes, though are fixed on one player, even if you hate him to guts by his earlier behaviour with you.

"Coach, can I ask a question?" you glance over at the guy who smiles amidst his fiery shouts 

"Sure!" he nods enthusiastically

"How's Jeon doing recently?" you ask, carefully examining him

"Jeon?" he raises an eyebrow looking over at you before bringing his focused gaze on the field "YUGYEOM, WHAT ARE YOU WAITING FOR? BLOCK HIS WAY!"

Your ears literally ring at the shout that echoes in your eardrum, but you're too keen to leave the passionate man's side before you get your answer.

"He's been alright, just a bit tired," he explains as he tracks the mentioned boy on the field "They all are, it hasn't been long since the pre-selections and they already are getting ready for finals. Why?"

"Nothing really," you quickly shrug it off, dipping your hand in your sweater before jumping onto your two feet "I'll get in the shower room before they end the game. I might have to do a couple of strappings."

"Thank you, Darl! They boys will apperciate it." The man says, watching you walk away for a brief second before bringing his attention back to the

The door of the shower room snaps open with a loud thud and you flinch like every other day. You continue setting the tapes on the table along with a scissor and a bottle of warming gel.

"Anyone who wants a strap come over here!" you shout, hoping your usually quiet voice is enough to reach the other side of the wall where the guys are all stripping off their clothes and talking about the upcoming game

"I'm coming for you, Sugar!" Taehyung responds with a chuckle, accompanied by the others laughing with him

"All straps are provided to those who are fully clothed," you shout back amongst the chaos of their joy "And yes I'm talking to you Kim Taehyung, towels are not acceptable as full clothing."

"Alright sugar, you can strip me off yourself," he snorts back "if you insist!"

You sigh, plopping down on the seat against the organized table of rigid and kinesiology tapes that smell like plastic and mint as you accept your defeat. You can never win over Taehyung indeed.

It doesn't take long for the guy to show up at your spot, walking in with his towel hanging loosely off his lower body. You give him a glance and reach for the kinesiology tape.

"I think we could do with your shorts and shirt on Tae," you explain, your patience loosely hanging off a thread "Except if you wanna tape your dick!" you snort pointing at his lower body

"I mean if that gets you to touch my dick," he shrugs off, dropping on the chair against you lazily "I'd have no objections."

"Unfortunately I'm not trained for that specific area," you flash him a fake smile, "But I'm sure you'll find the right professional in the parties you attend over the weekend."

"Ooh," he coos, watching you bring another chair closer to his leg "Stalker much?"

"It doesn't take that much effort to know where Hanguk University's most famous fuckboy spends his weekend!" you roll your eyes as you tap the chair "Knees?"

"I should just fucking wife you up," he exhales dropping his right knee on the chair "You know where exactly I need some attention!"

You glance at the towel that curls away from his private part and gulps before quickly grabbing a towel and draping his lap with it.

"I've been taping your kneecap for the past two years," you cut the corners of the tape carefully as you measure it against the side of his swollen knees  "I'd be fired if I dont know this much."

"Well, this girl has been giving me a blowjob for two years and still doesn't know I hate her tea bagging my balls!" he sighs 

You're about to press the tape against his exposed knee, when the disturbing image makes its way to your cranium and you have to shut your eyes, gasping for air to suppress it.

"Its a lot to take in," you hear him whisper to you as he leans closer against your ear, "literally!"

"Tae," you hiss bringing you parted eyes to him "Shut your mouth or I swear I use this tape on your mouth."

He chuckles nodding his head as he rests his back on the chair "Alright Sugar, chill! I was just trying to ease the mood."

"Do us both a favour and just stay still," you say as you carefully stretch the kinesiology tape around the contour of his quads along the margin of his knee cap down to the front of the bump of his knee.

"Mhmm," he moans, throwing his head back in the air "That feels good."

You just shake your head and pat the area of tape quite harsher than usual to warm it up.

"Okay maybe wait till you get to the shower first." you roll your eyes in annoyance

"Oh I already had my shower," he brings his naughty eyes to you "I might need another one after this though," he smirks as he lowers his leg off the chair "You almost made me cum by just that tape, Sugar!"

"That was one word of appreciation I always loved to tick off my bucket list Tae," you nod mockingly "Now get your ass out of here, there are at least 3 more of you I have to tape."

"Did I tell you?" he asks in a stern tone before bursting into a smile "That I dont share-"

"GET OUT!" you scream at him and push against his body to facilitate his move out of the chair

"Alright Alright easy, Sugar!" he laughs while blowing you a kiss with his hand "Remember you can always come join me in the shower across this wall, I'll return the favour!"

"I swear to God," you stand up and he quickly runs away "DO NOT COME BACK KIM TAEHYUNG!"

You fall back on the chair and start to dry off the marks of his sweaty knee off it , while cursing him under your breath when you feel someone sitting on the chair against you.

Upon looking up, you see Jungkook's unimpressed eyes fixed on his phone while he pushes both his feet on the chair.

"Ankle?" You ask, slightly annoyed by the fact that he doesn't even bother to greet you.

No wonder there are rumours about this jerk, you wonder as you try to choose between the tapes and he nods in silence.

"do you want rigid or kine, Jeon?" you ask softly as you squirt some gel on his left ankle

"Kine, I need to keep it on for a while I think," he replies, eyes still fixed on the phone screen "Its been quite achy recently."

You softly press the area of swelling on his ankle with the gel, while preparing your tape with the other hand.

Jungkook is one of the favorite talks around the campus. He is known to be from a wealthy family and there are rumours his dad bought him a personal practice soccer field when he got into university with full scholarship. Not only that but he has his own villa right beside the campus where he holds his house parties over the weekend, accompanied by his million dollars sportscar that screams "I'm rich" when he drives it to Uni.

But his wealthy and well off family is not the only thing he's famous for. He, along with Taehyung and a couple of younger ones in Hanguk's soccer team are the most well-known manwhores of the university.

While Taehyung loves to shove his dick and his good looks in everyone's face, getting laid with almost all the girls in the campus, Jungkook prefers to choose his girls from sports and exercise science faculty which he also studies in, exclusively. The girls who are also known as Goddesses, for their looks and their sculpted, toned bodies. Other than that he seems to be uninterested in anyone else he wouldnt be able to stick his dick in. 

So it doesn't really affect you when you see him almost every week, sitting across you on the chair and ignore your whole existence while you strap his ankle. Frankly, you're grateful for the moment of peace you have with him when comparing to Taehyung.

But something else is irking your brain and you can't help but look at his upper chest after your earlier observation of him. You monitor his pattern of breathing, finding nothing abnormal in the way he breathes when compared to the sight of him gasping for air earlier  during the practice.

"Your Ventolin is expiring in a week," you finally break the silence as you press the tape on his foot on one side and tap it lightly on the swollen area "Did you wanna get one yourself or should I order through the admin?"

"I'll pay at the admin when I'm leaving, order one through there!" he replies uninterested, eyes still fixed on his phone screen

"How are you going with your other meds?" you ask, trying to sound as unintrusive as possibile

You take a few seconds, waiting for his response but when you dont hear anything, you look up. Tongue darting out to wet your lips, you nervously examine his expression.

"Did you get a rise in your pay recently?" He asks mockingly, eyes boring into yours intimidatingly 

"What? No!" you scoff, shaking your head "I wish-"

"Then why the fuck you act like you get paid enough to stuck your nose in my shoes?" His voice rises slightly, catching you off guard

You give him a couple of seconds of staring before quickly looking down and sticking the tape on the other side of his ankle as you try to form your thoughts.

"Easy, It's just a part of the procedures," you lie,  there are no procedures telling you to give a fuck if this spoiled brat takes his meds "Its a yes or no question." your roll your eyes.

"Well I have an alternative answer," he stands up, ignoring your hand still tapping lightly to make sure the tape is sticking right on his ankle "Its none of your damn business! do what you're paid to do!" he hisses kicking the chair to the side with his leg as he leaves the treatment room.

You sigh watching the corner of the tape sticking out and not properly adhering to his ankle, your OCD messing with your brain as you cuss under your breath for caring about this jerk in the first place.

👶- advice for new writers =

yall this is hella fucking generic but PRACTISE. theres a reason almost literally every writer on tumblr gives the advise of “practise practise practise” and that reason is it works. practise doesnt mean ‘oh just write bc youll automatically get better over time’ it means ‘write bc if you dont, you wont figure out what you need to improve.’ did yall know that i literally had no sentence variation in the past? i started every sentence with [character name] or [character pronoun] and i didnt realise until i was 15/16 and i only realised bc i started writing a lot.

i think there’s a fear of failure with new writers. there’s this lingering doubt of  “what if its not good?” and boy howdy i will answer that question right fucking now. it wont be good. when i compare my current work to my earlier work, my earlier work sucked fucking shit. i spelled soldier with a fucking ‘j’ and i had no idea what the hell a point of view was. and thats okay. whoever tells you that youre going to perfect writing is a fucking liar. there is no perfecting writing. 20 years from now, imma look at the writing from today and im gonna think it sucks shit. writing is a process. its a craft. you get better and better over time and the way you get better is by experimenting w different styles, different genres, different ways of writing.

and the only way you can experiment and improve is through practise. in video games, especially rpgs (which are my favourite kind of video games), you struggle in the early game. youre at a low level, you dont have good equipment, you have a hard time moving to the next area. but the only way you progress is by grinding, gaining levels, and getting stronger. same w writing. if youre a level 1 writer, just starting out, no idea what to do, just experiment. fuck around a bit. write crackships, write rarepairs, write niche self-indulgent reader/character fics. at the end of the day, you should write for yourself. its good and cool if other people like your stuff and validate all your hard work, but at the end of the day, the one who should enjoy your writing the most is yourself.

you WILL mess up and you WILL struggle, but thats the only way you can improve. i struggle with pacing the most. still do. but others might have pacing down pat and struggle instead with word choice or pov or something else. cant figure out where you need to improve if you dont write, so just practise and worry about all the fine print later

⭐️- how do you get your inspiration? =

this is definitely not universal, but i just sit on my bed, close my eyes, and meditate. cycle through all my emotions and thoughts and filter them out. then i just toss everything out the damn window. like. id just meditate for a while, focus on breathing, on experiencing the present, picture a field and a tree and myself and breathe. thoughts fly by and i let them happen but dont focus on it.

meditating gives me some semblance of emotional control bc i normally have none, and it gives me kind of this space. this safe space that only exists for me and me alone. so i use that space to let the world drift away. just me and my thoughts and sometimes, those thoughts end up being good writing ideas. but i usually meditate for a set amount of time. like 15 minutes or 30 minutes so i dont write until i finish meditating.

then when i get out of my headspace, i open up my laptop and see what i remember. thinking too hard about something causes it to muddy up. same with art. in digital art, artists flip the canvas to refresh their eyes, see if there’s anything weird or wonky about the illustration that they normally dont see bc theyve gotten used to it. flipping the canvas is like giving our eyes a jumpstart and lets us see what we could do better. in traditional art, its turning the canvas this way and that or repositioning yourself. meditating is like that. a break. a cleanse. a kind of pause where you dont think about anything and just try to process what you already have. you relax and kind of let yourself float down a river of thoughts and sometimes, a fish would jump out of that river and youd go “hey, thats a good idea. i should try that” so when you get out of the river, youre refreshed and ready to go.

same principle with showers. more ideas come to you in the shower when you dont have anything to write with bc youre not thinking about it. youre not focusing on finding inspiration or motivation so ideas naturally flow through you. you know that feeling when you want to do x then someone comes along and says “hey you should do x” and suddenly all motivation to do x leaves? same w your brain. focus too much on “i should be writing” or “i want inspiration” and its never gonna come. just let things happen. at least, thats how i do it. some people might get inspiration by reading or watching tv. everyones different so if thats not what works out for you, dont feel pressured to try my method

💘- what’s your favorite AU? Least favorite? =

magic au. specifically fantasy au set in like a pre-modern era. shows like avatar where theres all this magic and fantastical beasts and so on and so forth. semi-modern like six of crows and nevernight are great too. i want that magic to be woven into people’s lives. harry potter is okay but there’s like this separation between magic and muggle. there’s this feeling of “magic” but like as a tool. like a spoon or a gun or a shovel. i want magic au’s that are INTEGRATED with the world its set in.

like in atla, earth kingdom people have trains they move with bending while fire nation people have machines powered by heat and steam. both correspond to their bending and makes sense for the world they live in. but if your plot is like harry potter and its less worldbuilding and more action, then there’s this book series called seasons rising (read it. so good) where there’s a bunch of spells but the spells have character. the people using the spells GIVE it character and it feels much more intimate. pokemon does the whole fantasy mixed w reality better. give two trainers the exact same pokemon and by the time that pokemon reaches lvl 50, its gonna have a different moveset, different fight style, etc bc it was shaped by the world and people around it. i like harry potter but tbh it could have been so much better

for the least favourite au, it’s A/B/O i dont like the whole “omegas are only good for breeding hurr durr” and “alphas are violent and aggressive and cant control themselves around omegas” thing and it squicks me out. major squick. i read the original harry potter squick (THAT one. yeah. you know the one) and i still hate a/b/o more. i get why people like it, and there are one or two fics set in a/b/o au that i enjoy reading, but as a whole, i severely dislike a/b/o fics.

the themes are squick, the character dynamics get so messed up, and shipping dynamics (bc a/b/o fics usually have shipping) just get so blown out of proportion. there are so many a/b/o fics that turn ooc or the character interpretations radically change or something else. no hate against a/b/o fans bc yall are amazing for writing/drawing yalls au. there are things that you can only do in this setting and exploring those things can be incredibly fun for people, but for me personally, its not an au i like to visit.

(BNHA) Viper. its my first serious attempt at fanfic in YEARS and its my baby. currently has 7 chapters, i havent updated it in a while bc im hyperfocused on ts rn, but i love it to bits. its just all of my fav bnha fics crammed into one fic. quirkless kind of villain izuku with stain as a mentor as they work together to bring light to the injustices of hero society and where bakugos bullying has visible and long-lasting repercussions? sign me the fuck up. you can read it on ao3 HERE bc its not on tumblr. kind of fast-paced, has a lot more action scenes than anything else ive written. heavy plot-wise but has a lot of humour and comedy to break things up

(Kimetsu no Yaiba) I Pray To God He Hears You. not related to my other kny fic oleander which is a multichap retelling au. iptghhy is a standalone one-shot and kind of a character study on one giyuu tomioka. i love him so much. giyuu is my baby and i adore him. so of course i wrote a sad fic focusing on him. well technically, the fic focuses on giyuu AND his relationships.  SPOILERS for chapters 130 and 131 of the manga. focuses mostly on giyuu and sabito, but there’s a fair bit of giyuu and tanjiro and urokodaki.  you can read it HERE bc this is also not on tumblr. also deals with heavy things but more emotion-wise since it doesnt have that much of a plot. loss. grief. moving on. survivors guilt. that kind of stuff.  very sad. hurt but with comfort, especially at the end.

Things I Know About Airplanes Part 1:

First things first !

There are just some things you cannot control. So let go of that perfect travel itinerary. Air travel is made possible by so many factors its impossible that on everyday in every way everything goes perfect !

Is air travel safe ? Absolutely. Is airtravel convenient? HELL YAH. Is airtravel fun, cheap or relaxing? Go fish . So remember unless you want to swim , walk , or drive to your destination This airplane business is overall pretty cool.

I would have titled this post “ tips to make you a better traveler” , but that would mean that I deem myself queen supreme of all sky travel ever.

( and there is nothing that grinds my gears like a couple people calling themselves world travelers after their cruise to Cabo on spring break ). So this is just based on what I know as a flight attendant .

Why can’t the plane wait for you?

The world doesn’t revolve around you. How many more delays would you have caused if every time you were late for a connection or a flight , if it waited only for you. Just you. Did you ever think about the other 200 people trying to get to their connections. & maybe you haven’t thought of anyone else. BUT TODAY IS THE DAY YOU START. If you really wanna brain storm you can also think about the flight that needs your aircraft after you THOSE PEOPLE TOO . So just think about others. Bad weather ? Can’t go . Broken airplane ? Good thing we have awesome pilots and mechanics that can detect such dangers. No airplane ? Come on! you’re smarter than this. Stop being upset about it. Nothing you can do. Rebook your flight. Sleep in the airport if you have too or buy a hotel if you REALLY have to. Swallow your pride. You can travel across the country in less than 5 hours in a supersonic tin that sometimes has WiFi and movies ( more about that later ). Life is good.

Tip from a flight attendant, my personal fav , I swear by it:

Book the earliest flight you can. Like 5 am early!!!!! You are less likely to be delayed in the morning. There is less air traffic and the airplanes come from the hangers after being serviced overnight. If anything goes wrong you have time for a back up plan. Not being a “morning person “ is a lame excuse for an adult human these days . ok .

I’m honestly not sure if I’m giving airplane advice or just life advice at this point tbh. Moving on !!!!

2. Headphones and other things you forgot to pack.

Ok so. I’m for sure not about to tell you how to pack the perfect carry on because there is no such thing ( don’t let any YouTuber tell you so ) But I can tell you about the common items that people forget to bring with them on airplanes

( based on multiple true stories )

- headphoneS / MULTIPLE PAIRS / meaning the ones for your phone ( Bluetooth or lighting port AND the old regular ones ) if the airplane gods smile upon you the day of your flight , you might have inflight entertainment WOW free movies in your seat back! that’s insane right . ( especially since you’re paying for transportation and not to be entertained ) but if you forget the regular headphones, you can’t watch them ! I always also download other movies to my phone or tablet as well just Incase.

- A blanket or jacket. It’s true ! Breaking news ! not all airplanes supply blankets. Flight attendants get asked all day long multiple times if we have “ any extra blankets , it’s so cold in here “ so. Wear a jacket & closed toed shoes ?. Flight attendants have minimal control over the temperatures. Why did you wear shorts and sandals? YOU KNOW AIRPLANES GET COLD. Just like movie theaters are cold. You never ask someone at the concession stand to warm up your theater. This isn’t a house it’s an airplane. My airplane outfit is always nice jeans, plain tee, socks , vans and a jacket. Always. I will swear by it, I’m always the right temperature.

- Portable charger bank. This ones lame and I hate it. Not all airplanes have charging outlets. And it sucks I know. I work there. Can you imagine walking into work and there being no outlets. Well I feel your pain on this one. All of the airplanes are random. Some airbus models have screens and WiFi and chargers. And some have none. Luck of the draw. If you cannot find the charger in your immediate area. A flight attendant cannot make one for you. Be smart ! bring a portable charger bank. If the airplane is and old Boeing 767 ( super random plane we use for some Europe routes and select domestic ) it has cigarette lighter chargers ( like in old cars ) in some rows **** . Just bring a portable charger and avoid landing in a foreign country without access to information. Save yourself.

- SNACKS why do so many people overlook the importance of the airplane snack. Unless your flight is over 3 hours food will not even be available for purchase. And over 3 hours the food is expensive and mediocre. Complimentary meals are only served on long haul international or routes Jfk - SFO JFK - LAx and JFK - San ( direct ) . So airplane snacks are important. I usually get 2 choices . Something to munch on while watching my movie and one snack that actually is a meal. For example : I bring sunflower seeds and a Pb and j. Or if I’m feeling extra !!! : a quick bacon egg and cheese from the airport Starbucks, large venti ice coffee and Chex mix. You get the idea. It’s an airplane not a kitchen. It’s like a sky bodega. Don’t be unhappy. bring your own stuff. Especially if you’re vegan, or allergic to everything. PLEASE I BEG YOU! DONT BE THE FITNESS GURU WHO NEEDS MORE GRASS FED PROTEIN AT 38000 FEET. ( actually happened to me ) oh also people say that airplane coffee isn’t safe? Because of the water tanks. The Jury is still out on that: I will be your personal lab rat , I drink multiple cups of airplane coffee in one sitting. Make your assumptions and opinions. I will stay warm and caffeinated.

3. Hacks and tricks . Ok so we’re getting to the good stuff. I’m about to tell you the easiest way to be offered a free drink , snack , or in general special treatment on the airplane. Are you ready !? BE SUPER NICE AND PERSONABLE. Ok not exactly rocket science but seriously the SECOND you mumble under your breath, say something rude, get an attitude, look unsettled, or be annoying in the galley. You might as well kiss your chances of getting any special treatment goodbye. ( one person does something , the entire crew knows about it. rude passengers will not be rewarded . Being rude to airline staff never works . I’ve never seen it work) airline staff will most of the time reward good behavior. Wow are we back in pre-k? Or what. Ok now something more tangible . -BRING THE FLIGHT STAFF SMALL GIFTS. Most airplanes have 4 flight attendants on board. International has 12. If you walk on board and say “ hi I’m ______ seated in 23a ( whatever your seat may be ) I brought these for the flight attendants” almost 10/10 times we love it and tell the whole crew to take care of that person specifically. This is important : *You will probably have a flight attendant ask you “ thank you for the gift. do you need anything ? “* and that is your go to time !!!! That’s your time to shine !!!!!! If you want a free drink or snack !!!! Ask now!!!!!!!!!!! This is a real thing and it really works. Small gifts include : individually rapped candies, hand sanitizer, a pack of pens, any kind of snacks at all , a 4 pack of Red Bull/espresso 4 little bags of mnms,donuts or munchkins from Dunkin’ Donuts. Honestly it doesn’t have to be big or expensive! If you show up to your flight on time AND you’re nice to the flight attendants. Just wow . Doing better than 99% of anyone else on airplanes. Go you . If you are a high maintenance flyer this is your go to move to get on the good side of everyone on the crew. Or buy a first class seat ok ? A smile and some donuts go a long way. DO YOU WANT FREE WIFI ? Me too but unfortunately most of the time the WiFi is expensive and not at all free . BUT after take off if you connect to WiFi and the WiFi connection is sourced by the company “gogoinflight” ( you’ll know cause that’s what it’s called in your settings when you connect to WiFi ) I do have a trick. Gogoinflight is a company that sources WiFi for major airlines, if you have T-Mobile ( or if you know someone with a T-Mobile phone number *****) you can enter your phone number and boom free WiFi for an hour. FREE BEER AND WINE - actually free - on international routes ( not Caribbean) don’t be a jerk ! It’s an airplane not a bar. You’re an adult you know you can’t act drunk on airplanes. It’s actually VERY frowned upon and personal CAN call security on you. If you can’t drink 2 glasses of wine on the ground without dancing on the table , you can’t on the airplane. Oh and TRUST me I’ve seen the light while yaking in the airplane bathroom and THAT MY FRIEND!!!! will not be my final destination!!!

hmmm… well to usually set the mood would depend on the type of story I’m writing, if its horror/really angsty shit then I’m definitely going for dark themed music, if its something fluffy n cute- then im gonna go for some really happy upbeat music, so to set the mood- it’d usually depend on the genre

I don’t think I’ve even came CLOSE to an entire novel but, I do a lot of short-stories and ESPECIALLY one-shots, im not very good at chapter based stories or anything

Ooooh fuck this is a tough one, Im too lazy to link it but- in my Yan!Henrik story there were some parts I ABSOLUTELY loved and felt were p damn good and in the werewolf story I wrote as well, some good parts in there too, but I definitely feel more fond over some of the scenes in the Yan!Hen story than any other one

Honestly, I’m pretty open to genres, like- fantasy, science-fiction, etc- the whole shabang- im not too picky bout any of them-

hmmm I guess like- wouldnt it technically be in third person with the way I write, for the reader its always You and or they, I always keep a story gender-neutral so that way all readers can be who they want to be in the stories, it can give them a better chance to imagine themselves in said position, now if i got a specific thing to do, male, female, non-binary, etc- then yeah I’d do that

backstory: how did you come to love writing?

That’s a- actually kinda simple tbh- its not an interesting story- At first I was actually unsure about it, but then- the more I wrote, the more I got super into it-  It was just… super fun to me after I did it for awhile

It’s a hobby for now, but I do wish I could open commissions- but hmm its been like, maybe 5-6 years by now, maybe even a bit longer

You should know this for sure haha, my favorite characters to write with tho- I’ll just say who they are, all the septic egos p much except… im still not too confident with writing Angus yet, some of the Iplier egos, like the Jims, Harold, and Eric, and I’m trying to branch out to other fandoms, I like writing with David n Daniel, from the cc fandom, and I’m trying to work on Dream Daddy characters too, Joseph, Robert, Mary, etc- and then my own characters too- I dont write wiht them often but I try

There’s a lotta things I think I could improve on, honestly… I think, its not a matter of insecurity really, more so like- no matter who you are, there’s always room for improvements, I think we all improve on things every day, writing, drawing, roleplaying, even simple things- after all, there’s nowhere to really go except forward in life, so I just tend to go with my own flow, and if I improve than I’m happy with that, if I dont? …I wrote one, its a really old one and im not too proud of it, but, people like it apparently so I keep it up since it seems to make em happy and thats what matters in that regard, but nah im not BIG on writing things based off songs

Hmmm not yet, I don’t think I’m ready to physically publish my stories or anything, although my dad does encourage it, he tells me I should find a publisher or whatever and publish some stories (it wouldnt be ones with like- characters from things like camp camp, dream daddy, etc of course- it’d be ones with my own characters)

…honestly? The one pet peeve I, myself, have with writing is the I/Me POV- now of course its fine if others use it, it could be easier to them, or they simply like it a lot, but I myself, just- cant fucking s t a n d that type of pov

Okay- I need to be honest here, bc I get a lot of them, when I constantly state that I only do one shots and not chapter stories but the whole “pls continue” “another part to this please” “Do more of this” that doesnt really make me wanna do more, it makes me wanna move on actually from any of that, like im not about that plz continue, do more!!! type of comments

Oh god I’ve received TONS of good advice from people, especially when it comes to some of the German I use for Henrik, I will admit… I’ve been severely slacking with learning my German, and I…. I deeply regret it tbh, but- I never mind and am actually grateful when someone corrects me when using a word incorrectly in a sentence or whatever
