the rest is giving me the Julien Baker content I needed.

Julien Baker is so collaborative, which I love and hugely admire, but only 2 of the songs on the record had lyrics primarily written by her (Satanist & Anti-Curse). I wanted more of Julien’s voice (and more 3-part harmonies) on the album. Julien is legitimately my favorite musician, and her solo work is still so underrated. She has 632K monthly Spotify listeners— less than half as many as Lucy does. Some of my favorite JB songs (Distant Solar Systems, Tokyo, Mental Math, etc) aren’t even on her regular albums, and I want people to know about them, too!

A Lucy Dacus song started the record, and a Phoebe Bridgers song ended it. It makes me so happy to hear Julien’s voice at the beginning and end of the rest.

(Also, I fucking love how much space and physics shit she put in those songs. absolutely LEGENDARY.)

Day 6: Sunday January 5th, 2025 [Tokyo]

Breakfast: Iced coffee with a ham & cheese sandwich

Lunch: Cup noodles in our hotel room

Dinner: wagyu burger with egg, rice & curry sauce

We were up early this morning to visit the digital art museum ‘TeamLabs: Borderless’. I was very excited to visit after seeing lots of videos advertising it online. The venue was only a 20 minute walk from our house so we rugged up and strolled down just in time for our 10am time slot.

The museum was excellent. There’s a poor-man’s version of it in Melbourne called MetArtWorld, which we had also been to, but this was 100x better. The installations moved between rooms and there were secret rooms with incredible light displays that photographed beautifully. There was an interactive room where the projections convened if we stood still and a room full of giant marbles on ramps. There was a room of hanging lights that looked like stalactites and they could be controlled by the app on our phones - we could choose the colour or light pattern. This was Morgan’s favourite room. My favourite room was full of hanging orbs that had fairy lights inside them. We spent two hours exploring the museum before hunger hit and we left to find some food. The museum was in the basement of a fancy food complex where individual meals were ¥30000-¥40000 so we struggled to find somewhere that suited us until we found a coffee and sandwich shop. We ordered there and had a chat about our visit to Disneyland and what we were going to do with our luggage.

After lunch we headed back to our apartment. We needed to do laundry and we were both feeling a bit tired. Morgan played Pokemon on his phone and I read my book. It was nice to have some downtime while our washing as in the machine and we had some cup noodles while watching Squid Game Season 2. Morgan put all of his stuff in the dryer but I was worried about things shrinking, so decorated our room with my clothes by hanging them in the shower, on the coat rack and chairs so they could air dry under the heater.

The dryer took longer than we expected so we didn’t end up leaving the house again until after 5pm. We got the train into Shinjuku again and found a restaurant that we’d seen on TikTok called “Niku to Tamago Shinjuku” that did one dish, three ways. We both ordered a beer and a wagyu beef patty with egg and rice. Mine came with curry sauce and Morgan’s the ‘beef sauce’. It was delicious! They had little pots of coleslaw on the table that was a very welcome vegetable. I think I’m going to try and make this dish at home.

After dinner we started walking towards Golden Gai - the tiny street-bar district that we’d checked out the day before. We stopped in at the Disney store to have a look at merch, pre-Disneyland and also stopped at a JB HI-FI type store to get an adapter. I’d purchased one in Perth but it was only for 2-pronged devices and we had a few 3-prong. Oh, the inconvenience!

Once we got to Golden Gai we did a few laps of the streets but there were SO many bars and they were all so tiny! We didn’t know which one to choose. I’d messaged my friend Olivia, from Keysborough, who was also in Tokyo, and she said she also had plans to be there with her partner! We bumped into them on our second lap and they had been there the week prior so were more confident in choosing bars than we were. Our first bar was ‘Albatross’ - this one had multiple floors (all cramped) and we had two drinks there. We were on the same floor as the toilet and a man in his 50’s used it while we were there but was too big to fit inside with the door closed (it was tiny) so he just left the door open and had his pants down past his butt. We had a full moon for 2 -minutes until he was finished and when he turned around he faked surprise that we were there. We were in stitches!

Bar 2 was an 8-seater jazz bar run by an elderly Japanese man. I had an average Sochu, Morgan and Tim had a whisky and Olivia had a cocktail. It was very cramped and lots of people were popping their head in to see if a seat was free so we left after one drink.

Our third bar was called ‘Golden Bar’ and everything had been spray painted gold. So classy! This one seated 12 people and had tourists from Canada, Romania, America & Sydney. There was also a lone-Japanese man there who was quite surly and disrespectful towards the bar tender who was there by herself. He dominated the space but we were still able to chat to the other visitors around him as none of us spoke ample Japanese. They had a ‘snake sake’ that had a real, mummified snake in it and we weren’t game enough to try it. We stayed for one drink and with it hitting 10pm and Japanese dude being loud, we decided to call it a night. We said bye to Tim & Liv before getting the train home. A lovely day - the perfect blend of down-time and touristy stuff :)

Okay, hear me out on this one, David Walk, his soft but also deep voice for Reiji Sakamaki from Diabolik Lovers, Adam from Sk8 the infinity and Asuma Mutsumi from Kiss Him, Not Me could work, not only is his voice very cold at times but he also shows with Mutsumi’s voice that he can show a softer side

I’ll be honest, I was kind of stumped on this one, but then I was tossing up between Greg Ayres or Todd Haberkorn (cause it had to be one of the Ouran twins VA’s) I genuinely don’t know why I think this, honestly either of the two I named would be great depending on which side of Shiloh you want to exaggerate on more, but I feel like Todd would be a great balance of both sides of Shiloh, VA of Razor from Genshin Impact, Haru’s Nanase from Free! and Aru Akise from The Future Diary, idk how to even explain this one

Everett Gray

My instant thought is Micah Solusod, the voice for Yuu Hyakuya from Seraph of the end, Mizuki from Kasisama Kiss, Shun Kaidou from Saiki K, Izuru Kamakura from Danganronpa 2 and legit so many more characters I love (literally I could name off like five more characters off the top of my head) but he shows that he can give off the “I’m too cool for this and too cool for you” vibe while also being able to have an extremely funny side

First off, damn, I had too think long and hard again about this one, and I may be wrong here but I feel like Jerry Jewell could do a good job, VA for Kyo Sohma from Fruits Basket, Moblit Berner from AOT and Yuma Isogai from Assassination Classroom, again that cool guy vibes but with a touch of anger at times too

Another hear me out moment, Bryce Papenbrook, and I’m not talking his regular voice like for Adrian Agreste from Miraculous Ladybug and Makoto Naegi from Danganronpa, but more his voice for Staz Charlie Blood, the deep depressive voice, idk, it was hard to find someone for him, mainly because I love his original VA so much (not that I don’t love the rest) but Calvin has such a unique and amazing voice

I struggled to pick for this one because most of my favourite female VA’s voice more higher toned characters and for JB I knew I needed someone with a bit more sass to her voice, I ended up deciding on Elizabeth Maxwell, also the VA for Ymir Fritz from AOT, Midnight from BNHA and Arisa Uotani from Fruits basket

i'm literally so glad i found your blog among all the delulus in the jkk tag!

i used to be a jkkr, and honestly there still are some moments of them, particularly up until 2019-2020 that are undeniable questionable... to say the least, but i feel things changed a lot since then, and if jkk were something indeed, i believe they aren't anymore.

jk always done the bare minimum for jimin and was praised and put on a pedestal, when the most relevant and ""boyfriend-y"" gesture he's ever made was gcf tokyo, but man ain't winning boyfriend of the year never. aside from gcft and maybe gcf saipan, i can't think of another single big gesture he's ever made towards jimin, and here we're talking about the man who flied from paris to seoul just to spend a few hours of jk's bday with him.

also jk's personality and behavior since this solo era started (and honestly, before ch. 2 too) are just so cringe wth. jokers spend so much time to deny that he's a fuckboy/jb wannabe just for him to go and prove them wrong. those papparazzi pics were the last straw for me. dude literally just sang a song about fucking, which, believe me, for the us public is just another tuesday, and already thinks he is the next justin bieber or something.

but anyway, i digress... the point is i'm so tired of how jokers became the new taekookers overanalyzing everything. i really hate this one theory that apparently is very popular among jkk spaces that jimin didn't do a live with jk because he "can't control himself" around him like what is that supposed to meannnn. i really hate it here and i'm so glad that jimin is keeping it to himself and letting jk and his crazy fans lead themselves to a massive fall very soon.

For the last part. What jokers refuse to see or acknowledge is the fact that jimin removed himself from jk. You can clearly see he's set some boundaries, him not wanting to do a live with jk it is because he knows it'll be awkward they'll have nothing to talk about, jimin would have to be the one initiating everything whilst his "boyfriend" acts like he was forced to be there.

And they have this whole theory or thing of jk building a mansion for him and jimin and the reason why there isn't alot of stuff in jimin's house it's because he's moving to the mansion with jk soon. LMAO

昨日の暴飲暴食でしっかり1kg体重増えた…。

10:30服薬。

今日は高田馬場のときわ座でまゆたん、というかTOKYOかけひき倶楽部のイベント。3日間4ステージの最終日。

開場時間ちょっと前に着いたのだけど、人ならんでない。雨だから？とか思いつつ扉の向こうで行われている寸劇のリハーサルを聞いているうちに、開場時間を1時間間違えたことに気づく。おやまあ！ということで近くのドトールで時間つぶし。

歌あり寸劇あり司会ありで手作りな催しが進んでいく。昔七ツ寺共同スタジオで見た「春のぼんぼり」のような。

ごーきゅんこと郷拓郎さん、よかった。

我らがザ・ツリーポットもばっちり。自分が愛おしく感じてきた世界がちゃんとまたこういった形で存在していることがやっぱり愛おしくて泣きそうになってしまう。

寸劇に連れられて2階に上がる趣向のおかげで、お客さんみんなで2階に上がれた。まもなくクローズされるらしいこの会場、2階も見せてあげよう！という主催の粋なはからい。

宴は続く。

山田参助さんも。会場には他に山下メロさんやいろいろな方々。さゆさんともご挨拶。あとることはっつんも来てた。

大団円。楽しい2時間半でした。折りたたみ椅子を持っていった自分、正解！

夜は赤羽駅構内にオープンしたJB's TOKYOっていうハンバーガー屋へ。今どきのこういう店、バーガーだけで1,000円超えるけど、ここはそれより��ょっと安い。牛乳シェイク、美味。

で、食べたあと普通に歩いてたら、え？ あれ？とみるみるぎっくり腰。えー！？ぎっくり腰って何かの拍子に「ぎくっ！」となるもんじゃないの？ こんな普通に歩いてる最中にじんわりなるなんて。痛ててて…と、ほうほうのていで帰宅。

すっごい有名ですっごい人気だというので買ってきた清水屋のクリームパン。そんな別にあんまり。
