Long time no art! apologies for posting so infrequently, besides being very busy with work and mentally being a bit eh I've been spending the majority of my freetime these pasts month diving into cosplay crafting, so sadly not much time spent on digital art-ing Somehow though I still had time to make something for the @d20zinejam. My piece is specifically part of the "Mirror Image: A Dimension 20 Exhibition" zine which was a zine inspired by classical art, so I did a Leyendecker study which I thouroughly enjoyed. considering doing more art studies in the future tbh

Continuing from the previous cartoon, St. Joan of Arc plans to out her rival as a fraud... by having a SLEEPOVER?! (Yes, this actually happened in real life.)

JOKE-OGRAPHY: 1. The Source: This cartoon is based off of characters and events mentioned in St. Joan of Arc's trial. Here are the relevant passages (translated by W. S. Scott): "Asked what [Catherine] said to her, [Jeanne] answered that this Catherine said [...] that a woman appeared [to her], a white lady, dressed in cloth of gold [...]. [Jeanne] asked Catherine if this Lady appeared every night; and if so, she would sleep with her. And she did so..." 2. Explanation: When asked about Catherine de La Rochelle during her trial, Joan is very curt. When her assessors press for details, Joan eventually shares more. Catherine apparently claimed that an apparition came to her each night -- the White Lady -- and gave her counsel like Joan's Voices. Joan was ironically skeptical, and asked Catherine if the White Lady appeared every night. When Catherine said yes, Joan asked to sleep over to see the Lady for herself. Strangely, Catherine obliged.3. Pierronne the Breton: Besides Joan and Catherine, Brother Richard's club of mystics also included two Breton women -- one named Pierronne, and another who remains unnamed (to my knowledge). Even after all my studying of Joan's life story, I still only just learned about these Breton mystics a couple weeks ago, and I'm already scheming toward including their harrowing fate in a future May of the Maid / June of Arc. 4. Historical / Fiction: The story of Joan sleeping over at Catherine's is historical fact, based on Joan's own words, which I find absolutely hilarious in and of itself. Exactly what led up to this sleepover, however, is only communicated in minimal detail, so I'm filling in some details before getting into the sleepover itself in the next cartoons. I may even redo this story arc someday and tell it in a totally different way, while still being just as historically accurate. In this cartoon, I had Pierronne suggest the sleepover initially, so that I could use another historical character to offset the tension between Joan and Catherine. We'll see how that plays out as the sleepover commences in the next comic!

WE’RE GETTING IN IT NOW!

Not only did [Mysterious Lava Lamp Parents] pay the price of the closeness with their own children, they also paid the price of not being able to touch each other. 

THEY WENT INTO THIS JAM JAR ON PURPOSE.

IT WAS A PRICE THEY PAID WILLINGLY TO TURN BACK TIME. 

AND THEN WE SEE THE HANDS FROM PAGE ONE.

WE SEE THE BEGINNING OF THE MANGA. 

Which, it turns out, was chronologically in order! It wasn’t a vision of anything to come after it, it was a glimpse of [Mysteriously Unidentified Lava Lamp Parents] in their Jam Jar, where they went in order to turn back time, before the rest of the series happened. 

I’m guessing that means this is also how they knew to give Lava Lamp his instructions on going to the Clow Kingdom? Because something Else happened the first time around and they Turned Back Time to make sure Lava Lamp went there and caused Tsubasa Reservoir Chronicle to happen instead? Which is wild to think about. And yet I'm not entirely sure if that checks out, since Evil Wolverine seems to be slightly outside of time. I suppose I could be wrong about that.

And yet I can’t see any other reason why they would have had to turn back time unless-

OH. WAIT.

… unless they were from the future? 

If they were future characters who went back to the right point in time to set the correct points in motion? 

I shouldn’t theorise about this too much, this is getting very farfetched and I’m absolutely running full speed ahead with very few facts but imagine. 

Imagine what that would mean, when added to the fact that they won’t show us their faces. 

There are only so many characters we would recognise.

MORE SPECIFICALLY, THEY WON’T SHOW US THEIR ORIGINAL FACES

AT THE TOP RIGHT CORNER, THEIR APPEARANCES CHANGE WHEN THEY GO INTO THE JAM JAR

THEIR “OLDER” FACES ARE STILL UNSEEABLE, BUT THEY “TURN INTO” THE VERSION OF THEMSELVES WE ARE EXPECTING TO SEE FROM CHAPTER ONE. 

WE STILL DON’T KNOW WHAT THEY LOOKED LIKE AS FULL ADULTS. 

There is potentially the most unhinged possible answer about who Lava Lamp’s parents are based on what Clamp will and won’t show us. The main option that isn't Cardcaptor Sakura genuinely doesn’t make any sense.

BUT ALSO, LOGIC IS DEAD IN THIS UNIVERSE. THEY HAVE SET THAT UP. 

DID THEY SET THAT UP SPECIFICALLY SO THAT THE MOST RIDICULOUS ANSWER FOR LAVA LAMP'S PARENTS COULD BE CORRECT?

"Jelly Jelly" (Monika Shin x F! Reader)

"You ready?" Monika's voice beamed all over the room as she called for you. She smiled when she heard your hurried steps. You gave her a smile when she took your bag to carry it for you, "are you sure about this?" You carefully asked, worried about going together to the studio because of the fear of the fans seeing as both of you wanted to keep your relationship private.

"Yes honey, let's go." She squeezed your hands, leading you to her car. The car was filled with calm atmosphere as you both jammed to the music. Both having a good time dancing and singing the words to the song while on the road.

"I'll text Yuri and let the crew know we're here." You informed her when the car stopped in front of the studio. Monika just rubbed your thighs as she watched you click on your phone.

After a few minutes, you both heard laughters and voices of your girls. That's the signal that you both waited. "Good luck darling." She whispered lovingly, caressing your face as you rubbed her hand that is on your thigh. You lean in for a soft and passionate good luck kiss before stepping out the car.

"Unnies!" Their enthusiasm was welcomed by both of you. You gave the four of them a hug, and Monika doing the same as they all became close with her through you. The crew had a few small talk with Monika before she parted ways.

VivaDiva has been going strong eversince you created this crew. With your charismatic dance moves and versatility, you manage to captivate your audience. On top of that, your stage presence left the audience in awe. Your popularity was undeniable.

And there was also no denying at the fact that you are very attractive. And you attract people easily. Your qualities can be also seen in your crew. Lily, Yuri, Nari, and Minji. These girls also made their name in the dancing community. There was so denying that your crew was one for the look out.

With you being their leader, you always help them and offer the support that they need. You would cater to their needs like a mother. And your crew does the same for you. They would always support you and that's one of the reasons why this crew is strong.

As you and your crew descended to the stairs, the tension arises. Your presence is certainly felt, like it was always the first time.

The crews were preparing and finalizing for the Battle. Watching other crews rehearse and checks, but during those times. Monika can't help but noticed how almost everyone tried to get even bits of your attention. She would always notice how the other crews' members tried to talk to you or have you notice them.

It doesn't help that when they are dancing or performing to their assigned task, they would find a way to make eye contact with you or wink at you. But like always, you would give them a polite smile. Knowing that your blush was only for your girlfriend.

But one of the more determined one is Funky Y, knowing who she is, you also happen to recognize her because of her talent and she was someone you could talk to about being a leader. But Monika notices her hidden motives as it is not that hard to distinguish and she knows how attractive and talented her girl is.

But she still can't help but feel jealous. She hated feeling like this. But she chose not to make a scene about it because of her role in this competition. She just observe silently, but she doesn't realize how her jealousy is building up.

After the rehearsal, it was time for the battle. And the crews were given the chance to choose who to battle. And when it's Funky Y's turn.

"Who would you choose to battle with?" The MC, Daniel asked the blonde. She look around the studio until her eyes stopped at you. You did not falter and held eye contact with her. Your crew exclaim happily when you're chosen. They wanna see you battle.

As the song started playing. The moves were thrown out in a rhythmic battle between two known names. You two were different and the audience are going nuts because of how insane your body moves to the rhythm. It was mesmerizing and addictive.

During a tense dance battle between the you and Funky Y, Monika's impartiality wavered. She couldn't help but feel a twinge of jealousy as she watched you both battle, the other judges nod in approval of the your performance. And it was all decided when the three judges raised your card. All of them taking turns to explain why they the winner. When it was Monika's turn to critique, Monika's words were unusually harsh towards Funky Y.

"You may have the looks and the moves, but dance is more than just that," Monika critiqued, her tone laced with resentment. "You need to dig deeper, show more variety, and remember that dance is an art, not just a show."

The audience fell silent, all of them taking Monika's words in. And you couldn't help but look at her in question. Funky Y also did great.

When Monika realizes her words, she ended it in a good note. Sighing as she watch you take your seat with your crew. Once the shoot ended, you find her.

"Monika, we need to talk," you said, your voice

soft yet determined. You took Monika's hands. Your other hand caressing her as you completely noticed how she's been acting. And her snapping at Funky Y was the confirmation.

"I know you're feeling jealous, but you're the one I love, the one I want. No amount of attention from others can change that. I'll prove it to you through my dance, and I promise, our love will remain stronger than any competition."Monika's heart melted as she looked into your eyes.

She had let her jealousy get the best of her, but your unwavering love and reassurance were all she needed.

You shared a tender moment before you return to your home.

After what happened, you both carefully let everyone know about your relationship. Yours and Monika's professionalism showed. And you dance not only for the competition but to show her your and commitment to Monika.

As the competition continued, the your performances became a beautiful declaration of love, and Monika, sitting among the judges, couldn't be prouder of her girlfriend's talent and devotion.

Your love story became an integral part of Street Woman Fighter Season 2, reminding everyone that love could withstand the fiercest of battles.
