Cowrie or cowry is the common name for a group of small to large sea snails, marine gastropod mollusks in the family Cypraeidae, the cowries.

The term porcelain derives from the old Italian term for the cowrie shell (porcellana) due to their similar appearance.

Cowrie shells have held cultural, economic, and ornamental significance in various cultures. The cowrie was the shell most widely used worldwide as shell money. It is most abundant in the Indian Ocean, and was collected in the Maldive Islands, in Sri Lanka, along the Indian Malabar coast, in Borneo and on other East Indian islands, in Maluku in the Pacific, and in various parts of the African coast from Ras Hafun to Mozambique. Cowrie shell money was important in the trade networks of Africa, South Asia, and East Asia.

In the United States and Mexico, cowrie species inhabit the waters off Central California to Baja California (the chestnut cowrie is the only cowrie species native to the eastern Pacific Ocean off the coast of the United States; further south, off the coast of Mexico, Central America and Peru, Little Deer Cowrie habitat can be found; and further into the Pacific from Central America, the Pacific habitat range of Money Cowrie can be reached) as well as the waters south of the Southeastern United States.

Some species in the family Ovulidae are also often referred to as cowries. In the British Isles the local Trivia species (family Triviidae, species Trivia monacha and Trivia arctica) are sometimes called cowries. The Ovulidae and the Triviidae are other families within Cypraeoidea, the superfamily of cowries and their close relatives.

The shells of cowries are usually smooth and shiny and more or less egg-shaped. The round side of the shell is called the Dorsal Face, whereas the flat under side is called the Ventral Face, which shows a long, narrow, slit-like opening (aperture), which is often toothed at the edges. The narrower end of the egg-shaped cowrie shell is the anterior end, and the broader end of the shell is called the posterior. The spire of the shell is not visible in the adult shell of most species, but is visible in juveniles, which have a different shape from the adults.

Nearly all cowries have a porcelain-like shine, with some exceptions such as Hawaii's granulated cowrie, Nucleolaria granulata. Many have colorful patterns. Lengths range from 5 mm (0.2 in) for some species up to 19 cm (7.5 in) for the Atlantic deer cowrie, Macrocypraea cervus.

Always a Good Time with Garibaldi

Named after the famous Italian revolutionary, the garibaldi (Hypsypops rubicundus), also known as the marine goldfish or the catalina goldfish, is a species of damselfish found throughout the northeastern Pacific Ocean, particularly in kelp forests and rocky reefs along the North American coasts from central California in the US to Baja, Mexico.

H. rubicundus can grow to be over 38 cm (15 in) in length, making them the largest member of the damselfish family. Juveniles are red with blue spots, while adults are a vivid, solid orange. This color is what gives the garibaldi fish its name; the Italian Giuseppe Garibaldi and his followers were known for their red or orange shirts. Because they’re so brightly colored, marine goldfish might seem like easy targets for potential predators. However, garibaldi males are actually highly aggressive and will attack anything that enters their territory. The juvenile markings are similarly bright to advertise that they’re not there to pick a fight with older males.

Though males guard their territory year-round, mating only occurs from March to July. Males construct nests about 30 cm (12 in) across, removing all vegetation except for red algae. They then swim around their nest, displaying their fins and making loud clucking and grinding vocalizations. If a female is impressed, she deposits up to eggs 15,000 eggs in the nest, and the male fertilizes them. He then guards the eggs from almost-- including the mother, who may try to eat them. However, he does make exceptions for other females, especially as they are more likely to chose nests which already contain eggs. About three weeks after being laid, the eggs hatch and the young disperse. It takes them about five or six years to reach maturity, and individuals can live between 10 to 12 years.

The marine goldfish’s size and aggression wards off most predators, but larger animals like sharks, seals, and sea lions will hunt them on occasion. Younger individuals are also often targeted by sea birds like pelicans. Garibaldis themselves consume invertebrates, particularly sponges tubeworms, and nudibranchs, as well as algae. Despite their territoriality, H. rubicundus has also been known to gather in groups higher up in the water column; this may be a time for males to familiarize and for females to scout out potential mates.

Além disso a série recebeu inúmeras críticas pelos gráficos que seguiam uma estética mais cartunesca, tendo sido inicialmente projetada para ser uma animação 2D e mantendo expressões exageradas e referências de anime na versão 3D o que fez as críticas negativas explodirem. E ainda tinham as constantes comparações com Winx, série dos mesmos criadores, e Ever after high, série da qual foi considerada cópia sendo que o desenho já estava em fase de planejamento antes disso com o conceito de humor negro em Twisted fairy tales, e posteriormente a série cômica Royal academy que se tornou o que conhecemos agora.

Apesar de todas as críticas Regal Academy era uma série divertida e fez parte da nossa infância, por isso está guardada com carinho em nossa memória, mas não podíamos negar que algumas coisas poderiam ter sido melhores, então decidimos não só reescrever como ilustrar e continuar toda a série e por isso esperamos que pelo menos um pouco do fandom resurja aqui.

Regal Academy is an Italian series from the same creators as Winx that was canceled in its second season due to low ratings.

Furthermore, the series received a lot of criticism for the graphics that followed a more cartoonish aesthetic, having been initially designed to be a 2D animation and keeping the exaggerated expressions and anime references in the 3D version which made the negative reviews explode. In addition to constant comparisons with Winx, a series by the same creators, and Ever after high, a series of which was considered a copy, and the design was already in the planning phase before that with the concept of dark humor in Twisted fairy tales, and later the humor series Royal academy that became what we know now.

Despite all the criticism, Regal Academy was a fun series and was part of our childhood, so it is kept fondly in our memory, but we couldn't deny that some things could have been better, so we decided not only to rewrite but also to illustrate and continue the entire series and so we hope that at least some of the fandom will resurface here.

We would like to thank everyone who wants to follow our project even if they have not known or been a big fan of the series.

También tenían las constantes comparaciones con Winx, serie de los mismos creadores, y Ever after high, serie de la cual se consideró una copia a pesar de que la caricatura ya estaba en fase de planificación antes de que esta saliera, con el concepto de humor negro en Twisted fairy tales, y más tarde como la serie de comedia Royal Academy.

A pesar de todas las críticas, Regal Academy era divertido y fue parte de nuestra infancia, por eso la tenemos con cariño en nuestras memorias, pero no podemos negar que algunas cosas podrían haber sido mejores, así que decidimos no sólo reescribir sino ilustrar y continuar toda la historia, por eso esperamos que al menos parte del fandom resurja.

“I know this family consorts with criminals but letting their most prized possession marry one is too much.” Antonia Medina used to be Eva’s best friend until something happened between them.

Luca can safely assume it has to do with Mrs. Riley’s forked tongue.

“Well, their most prized possession has free will and she can do as she pleases.” Eva gave her a tight smile. Luca knows his woman will be baring her teeth before the third course.

“It’s been so long since we saw each other, I almost didn’t recognize you, Evita.” Antonia said in the most condescending voice he’s heard in his life. It wasn’t purposely condescending, that was what struck him as odd.

What also had his attention is that Antonia Riley could pass for his sister and yet she is resolved to hate him.

“Maybe if you had invited me to your wedding four months ago you wouldn’t find me so unrecognizable, Toña.” Eva threw back and revealed the issue between them.

What sort of friend wouldn’t invite her supposed best friend to her own fucking wedding?

“You were under house arrest, querida, even if I had invited you to our private wedding in Acapulco you wouldn’t have gone anyways.” The former friend justified herself.

She would be a problem, had Antonia not been Riley’s daughter-in-law he would have offered his Maga the woman’s head on a silver platter and be done with it.

“Eva likes to hold onto grudges, you should ask her about President Carranza, her mortal enemy.” Francisco, or Franco as he preferred, dismissed the woman’s verbal confrontation. “But we are sorry about not sending you an invitation, Evita, had we known about that mishap we would’ve corrected it.”

“I know, Franco, that’s what I am angry at her not you, but enough about the past. Franco, Antonia, this is my fiancé, Luca Changretta. Luca this is my cousin, Franco, and his wife.” Eva introduces them as if nothing happened.

And yet, their arrival is what is causing her hands to shake as she held onto his arm.

“Good to see you again, Luca, welcome to the family.” Franco doesn’t correct his cousin’s mistake and tries to avoid any issues that will arise between his cousin and his wife.

Dinner is stressing, Eva can feel her nerves hurting and it’s only been the first course.

The grenade has been tossed and all they can do is wait for it to explode.

“If you are good, Evuccia, I’ll take the morning off tomorrow and reward you.” Luca whispers as he rubs circled on the back of her hand.

Eva doesn’t even know if she will be conscious by the time the second course is served.

“Won’t your boss be suspicious?” she says hating how shaky her voice sounds.

“How’d you get this recipe, Antonia?” Patricio asked his daughter-in-law who’d discovered a man named Caesar from Baja California who had made this delicious salad she can hardly stomach.

“We poached one of the chef’s, an Italian named Caesar Cardini.” She answered and Eva bit her tongue. “Caesar’s hotel is to die for, best part is that it’s in Tijuana where we are free to drink as we please.”

“A shame you can’t go, Evita.” Antonia added snidely.

What was wrong with her? Why couldn’t Antonia be happy for her? She’d forgiven Antonia for marrying Francisco, Eva had gotten over that, it was the lying and cutting all the threads as she left that Eva couldn’t forgive.

“Not all of us are free to visit home, Antonia. Some of us made greater contributions to the war effort and were rewarded with an exile.” Patricio scowled. He, like Eva, was under the penalty of death.

You couldn’t have the man who used to control the merchant navy come back with a new fleet to destroy you just like you can’t have the witch who knows when you will die live to set up for fall from Grace.

“Besides, Eva has her pick of the best Italian chefs here.” Luca speaks in the only language the Rileys understand. “Even Cardini can’t compare himself to the Chef at Delmonico’s.”

No, he could not, not yet anyways. Caesar Cardini will be immortalized with his Caesar Salad, but until he does, he is still an Italian Chef in Tijuana, Mexico.

By the time dinner ends, Eva is a little drunk.

“Sorry, just no longer used to drinking,” she mumbles and switched to water with a sheepish look. “Should be careful, I heard how people in Texas have been lynched for speaking Spanish. Couldn’t speak my damn mind in Mexico now I can’t speak my damn language.”

She gets talkative, forgets to speak English and for an entire dessert course has spoken to him in rather flawless Italian. She may have a Romanesque accent, but Luca is relieved that he won’t have to explain everything to her.

Just like she won’t have to translate everything being said here either.

Luca only has a few things he is thankful to Audrey for, making him learn Spanish and French was one of those things.

“I think my Spanish good enough to understand you, and if anyone tries anything they’ll be pushing up daisies.” He thinks his woman would already get it in her head that no one would even think about harming her now that she’ll be his wife.

That was the deal: marry the princess, slay the dragons and get the kingdom.

“I’m not a princess, I’m a witch.” She corrects as she closed the library door behind them.

She is not drunk enough to forget, just inhibited enough to drop her guard around him.

Eva was taught restraint, but she hates having to hold back to please society, or so she has said in these ten minutes they are allowed without a chaperone.

“You didn’t tell me you could read minds, amore.” He pushed her against one of the thick double doors they came in through and she wrapped her arms around his neck. Had she not been wearing a floor length dress perhaps he’d have an easier time lifting her so she could wrap her long legs around his waist.

“Only sometimes, like right now. Might be the proximity, might be the wine or it might be you.” Her voice drops to a whisper, as if that last part was a secret.

“Lucky me.” He says and she giggles when he bends his head to close the gap between them.

Luca could almost taste the wine and the red lipstick she was wearing when someone pushed open the door just inches away from them.

“Ah, so this is why.” Antonia kills the moment as she gestures to them as she waltzed into the library.

“You don’t get to judge me, Antonia.” His witch said still slightly out of breath.

“Not judging you, querida, just drawing conclusions. You did always have a type.” The woman scoffed.

“What do you want, Toña?” Eva asked when her former friend did not leave.

“Patricio wants us to clear the air between us and would like to speak to Luca in his home office. I suppose he wants no unnecessary drama nor you looking fat at your wedding.” She answered as she opened the decanter and helped herself to Irish whiskey given to them as a gift from the Irish Republican Army.

“There was a nicer way to say that, Antonia, and you know it.” Eva chides her, but he takes his leave either way.

“I’ve never been one to sugar coat, Evita, why would I start now.” Antonia takes a sip of her glass with a knowing smirk.

Caesar Cardini is the Italian Chef who invented the Caesar Salad in Mexico in 1924, Delmonico's is the first fine dining restaurant in the US and opened in 1831.

I was suprised to find out he is actually of Polish-Jewish, Hungarian and Czech-Jewish descent and not Italian lol. so really in those scenes with Alfie we have British actor of Irish descent playing a Jewish man and an ethnically Jewish man playing an antisemitic Italian.

ENG: Another girl from the regency period. His father is General Jean Lannes; Napoleonic general. She has an arranged marriage with Cesare Lombardi; an italian. Interesting facts: Louise is a military nurse.

SPA: Aquí tenemos otro personaje ambientado en la regencia. Su padre es el general francés, Jean Lannes ( en mi canon, este hombre estaba liado con Napoleón y nadie me baja de este burro). Louise es una pieza política en la guerra entre Francia e Italia y organizan un matrimonio por compromiso con Cesare Lombardi. Obviamente es un enemies to lovers.

Datos de interés sobre Louise: se podría decir que es lo que hoy en día se conoce como enfermera militar.

                   PHOTOSHOOT: LOVE + FEAR ALBUM

Marina teamed up with world-renowned photographer Zoey Grossman for the visuals of her fourth studio album titled "Love + Fear" back in October 2018. Serving a clean aesthetic, this album is all about Marina's mentality and feelings. The good and the bad sides. The light and the dark. And this shoot represents it well.

Styling by Mercedes Natalia. Hair by Marissa Marino, glam by Katelin Gan.

For her hauntingly beautiful album cover, Marina wears nothing but a pair of the  statement-making Gemma crystal cascade earrings by accessoriy designer Rebecca Minkoff.

For the second look of the photoshoot's black & white section, Marina sported the Amelie polka-dot ruffle trim bardot top by California-based swimwear label Vitamin A! She wore it with a pair of skinny jeans with raw hem by Levi’s.

Many of these photos made it into various magazines. This one made it into Vogue Greece! She’s looking fine in a Ganni ivory knitted sweater featuring 3/4 sleeves and a ribbed mock neck. Her Dusk belted bikini bottoms are by Australian label Peony, which you’ll see more of later.

She decorated her sweater with a Chanel pearl-embellished double C logo brooch!

In this shot Marina is serving us face while wearing yet another piece from Peony. This is their frill-trimmed crop top made from recycled and sustainable Italian fabric. It features thick shoulder straps and a shirred back.

Her “You Are Beautiful” pink felt beret is fruit of the collaboration between UK designer Mary Benson and television and radio presenter Gemma Cairney.

The amount of swimwear we’ll see in this shoot is amazing. For these visuals, which were used for the “Superstar” single cover, M sits in the pool rocking a black swimsuit with asymmetrically draped shoulder from “loose luxury” label Baja East’s Spring/Summer 2017 collection.

We’re getting into some color now. Here, the Welsh beauty poses in a white cropped tie-waist shirt which she wore on top of a Solid & Striped neon-green one-piece swimsuit with open back.

My favorite look from the entire shoot has to be this one! The lavender ribbed one-piece scoop neck swimsuit, our girl looks so good in, is by Topshop! But it’s the accessories that made it for me.

Firstly, Marina rocked a DiorClub1 visor from Dior’s Spring/Summer 2018 collection. The white & black structure is embellished by the "J'Adior" signature, while the transparent yellow visor recalls the colorful universe of the collection. The "Christian Dior" woven elastic is adjustable to offer maximum comfort.

Her shoulder-gracing teardrop earrings in gold & silver are by emerging jewelry brand TUZA.

The last accessory is this vintage Celine gold chain-link belt with Triomphe logo charm.

In this close-up shot, M wears a pair of vintage-inspired twisted gold hoops from Free People.

For the penultimate look (an outtake, actually!) Marina can be seen repping this Tory Burch Gemini black one-piece swimsuit with gold link shoulder detail.
