Wang Yibo Bazaar January Issue feature article
What do you hope to see from him when you pay attention to him?
Faced with a public figure does not speak, should we choose to remain silent and just observe and speculate, or should we continue to build a bridge of dialogue at eye level and continue to ask questions?
This is a question Wang Yibo asked us.
We are happy to receive and answer - to come calmly without presuppositions, to follow only the intuitive guidance of the moment, to eliminate biased thoughts, and to see him as a "person" first.
This is not an article written just to fill the page. Perhaps what I can tell you truthfully is that every word in it was written at the filming site of this work, and was typed word by word at a distance of less than 20 meters away from the person I was working on - Wang Yibo. It seems that this is necessary to ensure the immediacy and time-limited nature of this creation.
It is full of questions that may not be asked even if they sit down and face to face. Perhaps it is precisely because there is no need for conclusive or chaotic answers that these questions become more reckless, direct and useless.
In the end, not only did the answer no longer matter, but it became increasingly unclear who the question was addressed to.
Wang Yibo: What you see is what you get
Written by: Lu Yanni
In a huge room surrounded by cement, there are two small temporary spaces surrounded by black cloth: the larger one is a shooting room, and the other smaller one is a space where people can watch movies and rest at any time. There were some white folding chairs inside, which were only occasionally empty throughout the cover shoot.
For more than four hours, the only thing that never stopped here was the music - some of which were from the editor's private playlist, and some of which were specially requested by Wang Yibo. They may be psychedelic, light, noisy, or strange, difficult to classify and describe, but no matter what the style and rhythm of the music are, they are all consistent and uninterrupted.
Wang Yibo just kept his head down and said nothing, even sternly smiling, and immersed himself in doing what everyone who came to him wanted him to do. Are all similar jobs the same? Does every day of his life look exactly like the same day?
The music was so loud that people could jump inside. He remained silent, without saying a word. There was nothing but silence.
He squatted down, covering his face with his hands, and then his head. His hands messed up his hair.
He half-knelt until he gradually fell to the ground. He curled up into a ball. He looked up. He bent over and simply lay flat on the ground, one leg bent, the other leg also bent, and his hands spread out and stretched forward. He fell directly to the ground. He closed his eyes and rubbed his hands on the white floor paper.
He said nothing, nothing but silence. Where is he lying?
I suddenly thought of his name being screamed out by the crowd in that small southern town more than a thousand miles away half a month ago, and the moment of silence when the lights went out in theaters one after another in contrast to the noise. , he sat down in the seat that belonged to him for a short period of time, and could occasionally get a moment of calm and peaceful listening time in the dark.
What shape and color is the peace he needs? Does he need peace?
The stylist used a tool to curl the bangs on the wig to make them fly a little more, then sprayed them with moisture, pulled them up, and sprayed them with hairspray to make them look messy and branched. He closed his eyes and let it all happen. That's not his hair. What does that lock of hair have to do with him?
A group of people squatted there, surrounding him in the center. The umbrella-shaped light illuminated him, and all he could hear was the snapping of the shutter and the blinking of the flash at the same frequency. It was as if a group of people had discovered some rare plants in the mountains and were sampling them very quietly and carefully. He sat there, occupying only the size of a corner.
Is this a rare moment of relaxation for him? "Relaxation" - it's just our guess. How can one person experience what he is feeling moment by moment for another person? Whether it is one-way or two-way, how easy is it to "understand" between people?
He stood up again, covering his head with his hands, as if he had just hit something, or as if the fight had just ended.
He tilted his head back slightly and took a deep breath. Was it exhaustion? Or some other feeling?
The staff passed by and sighed softly: "The shooting was too intense!"
Looking back, Wang Yibo was curled up in a ball and lying on the ground again. The photographer asked his assistant for a tissue, and he caught himself sweating profusely.
Wang Yibo was still lying on the ground, his body stretched further.
Reputation, what is it?
Is there anything else that can rival the vanity that comes with being in the spotlight?
If he were willing to give one thing in exchange for everything he has now, what would his answer be? What would your answer be?
Will prosperity last forever?
"I know why you wanna hate me! (I know why you wanna hate me!)" "
I know why you wanna hate me!"
The music has changed. Clothes changed. His body also seemed to be suddenly injected with a strength that would not be easily suppressed. Wearing a white vest, jeans, and chewing gum, Wang Yibo smiled, danced involuntarily to the music, and sang along, his voice getting louder and louder. The chorus was repeated once, twice, three times, four times...
"I know why you wanna hate me!"
"I know why you wanna hate me!"
He jumped up. His long arms and legs were swinging in the air.
What kind of opportunities and luck are needed to eliminate other people’s prejudices against you or your own prejudices against others? Is this something that can be controlled by just relying on the rise and fall of one's own ideas?
The next picture is the cover picture. Everyone is working hard to get as high a score as possible. His silence then became deeper.
Someone was saying, "Let's not act like a cover photo shoot... just be normal." So everyone laughed together, trying to relieve some of the pressure and tension, but he remained silent.
What are we creating?
He was leaning on the sofa, looking lazily at the camera, suddenly closing his eyes and leaning on the back of the sofa. How can we know what he is thinking at this time? Does he really enjoy this? A question that doesn't expect an answer at all. Who am I talking to? Who am I asking? A tree, a piece of cream cake, a chair, a bolt of lightning?
On this blank screen, a new face and a new piece of clothing appear every month. What does he, who occupies the center of the screen, think about such rapid changes? Is there any panic? If not, then where is his panic? Does he think his panic has merit? Why do so many things have to be assigned so-called "value"? Who stipulates that people must prepare for a rainy day? Can't we make a decision after it rains? So what if it rains and it’s too late to make a decision? It's nothing more than getting soaked all over. It will be fine if the sun comes out the next day to dry it off.
Things seem to be getting a little more difficult.
"We have to get this cover picture out..."
"How about everyone disperse and stop crowding around him."
It's so hot in the room.
What else could he do? He couldn't go anywhere but stay where he was. Doesn't he want so many people surrounding him? Is he afraid of crowds? Didn't he live for the crowds and the attention of everyone? What does he want to live for? What do you hope to see from him when you pay attention to him?
If a little bit of the world is enough for him, how big is that "little bit"? What are the essentials?
There was a burst of cheers and applause, and everyone was very excited. He suddenly raised his arms in the slightly depressed atmosphere, and wow, the photo was finally "available".
“Well done!”
#wang yibo#this article made me feel some kind of way and it’s so beautiful cause the writer is just observing yibo#it must be so intimidating to work with him 😅😅😅

assignment 4, concept art - light and shadow
. Blog post 02
The following image illustrates the Basic black and white and grey relationships with front to back hierarchy and depth of field.
Changing the way of lighting also changes the black and white composition of the original illustration, because the original black and white composition of the picture design is broken by the light source and forms a new compositional relationship.
The overcast levels are most similar to the black and white and grey levels of the original image; I've added more fog to give the distant view.
The direction of the light source changes at night, with moonlight, lights and lighthouse light becoming the main source of light, partially illuminating part of the picture.
Sunny day: increased saturation in the bright parts of almost all colours, with the darker parts taking on the blue tones of the sky.
I really enjoyed the creative process~ This creation has given me a deeper understanding of the effects of light and shadow on the viewer's emotions, which will help me in my future creations.

GHOSTFORCE OPINION AND RECOMMENDATION (series necessary to watch to better understand MLB)
Given that there will clearly be a crossover with Ghostforce, I was forced to watch it, in 3 days I did a marathon and binge-watched everything about the series hahahahaha
what is it about? : there are 3 boys who must capture ghosts in capsules using superpowers, ghosts that appear out of nowhere and cause chaos, they have the help of miss jones, a half-human, half-ghost scientist who studies ghosts and a robot called glowboo, with the power to illuminate.
There are 2 seasons: the 1st season has 52 episodes and the 2nd also has 52, but the latter is still broadcast, each episode lasts approximately 12 minutes, as for movies, there are none so far, but there are 2 specials, one for Halloween and one for Christmas, both lasting approximately 21 minutes.
how is it? My criticism and opinion: The truth is that it is a very good series, I really like the idea of fighting ghosts in the Ghostbuster style, and I also think that the concept of light and dark is very good, the characters are good, and well, One thing that I do like is how they leave the villain in the veil of mystery (something that MLB does not do) and also how the relationship between man and woman is carried out in the dynamics of battles, you know we are in the era where the woman has to being perfect and the trash man, but here this is well balanced and everyone contributes something important, which is appreciated, what I do think can play in a negative way is that they are very long seasons and even though the episodes are short, sometimes It is hard to see, because sometimes the dynamics are similar, (a bit like what happened in MLB) but of course, it is necessary to see because they are presentations of characters.
For me, the best have been the specials, especially the Halloween one, which undoubtedly best captures the essence of this series, and what its concept is, these are my favorites.
As for the animation and soundtrack, the truth is that it is also very good, it is average, a bit childish but not unpleasant to see, where it can best be appreciated is in the spaces, where the conditions are met, the music too It's fine but it often has Miraculous vibes, in fact, there is some recycling, and it will seem like you are watching this series hahaha.
Should we see it? :Yes, but come on, go see it right now!!! not because of how good she is but because of her connection with miraculous LADYBUG.
miraculous and ghostforce occur in the same universe and are connected, but on some amazing levels, there are references everywhere,
so it is logical that there is going to be a crossover, but, as I tell you, as I have watched the series this goes further, I mean the LONDON thing IS JUST THE BEGINNING OF WHAT YOU HAVE PLANNED GUYS!!!! , there are a lot of clues, so to speak, that the series itself leaves to imply how ALL THIS WILL COME TOGETHER more than once, it will be like MARVEL AND DC, so if you are a fan of miraculous ladybug, yes or yes You are going to have to watch this series because in the future everything is going to be connected to each other and you are going to get lost, (TO GIVE YOU AN IDEA, THIS IS GOING TO BE LIKE AVENGERS ENGAME, CLEARLY IF YOU DON'T SEEN CAPTAIN AMERICA, OR IRON MAN OR AVENGERS, YOU ARE NOT GOING TO UNDERSTAND ANYTHING AT ALL) and let's not talk about Zak Storm, this series has a subtle hint of that series, so imagine!!!!! And, this series is long so I recommend that you hurry up, another thing is that as you already know I have said that Miraculous LADYBUG is a puzzle and gives clues to what is going to happen next, right? Well, GHOSTFORCE is also part of that and has helped me better understand MLB, so if you have those types of problems, this series will also help you.
MIRACULER YEARS AGO :"HEY!" YOU HAVE TO WATCH THE PREVIOUS CHAPTER OF MLB, BECAUSE IF NOT YOU WILL NOT UNDERSTAND WHY HE DOES THIS OR THAT." MIRACULER TODAY "YOU HAVE TO WATCH ALL THE SERIES in the ZAG universe BECAUSE IF NOT, YOU WILL NOT UNDERSTAND WHY THIS CHARACTER IS IN THE OTHER HERO'S COUNTRY AND THEY WORK TOGETHER ETC…"
CONCLUSION: YOU HAVE TO CATCH UP WITH ALL THIS, GO SEE IT, YOU WILL ENJOY IT AND YOU WILL BE MORE UP TO DATE WITH THIS WORLD OF HEROES THAT JEREMY IS SETTING UP, I FOR ONE, WHEN I FINISH MY ZAG POSTS, I WILL START MAKING THEORIES OF THE LONDON SPECIAL AND GHOSTFORCE WITH MLB BECAUSE SERIOUSLY I HAVE DISCOVERED MANY THINGS!!!!!
thanks for all the reblogs and likes, we really love it.
Like, reblog and follow me if you liked the content and to see more of them.
See you in future posts

MAGICAL DESTROYERS: LOVE, MAD, DESTROY!
In case we really don't get a second season or movie to finish (whatever the Japanese industry decides and/or Jun Inagawa and his staff feel like doing), I pondered a possible final that could be made either of these two ways.
Starting from the end of season 1, with the supposed death of Otaku Hero and the new Revolutionary Army rising, and after battling the Magical Destroyers, Otaku Hero Second take the microphone and blurt out "LOVE, MAD, DESTROY! OTAKU HERO LIVES!" before disappearing with the resistance.
Shobon, humiliated, vents to Origin about the situation and she nonchalantly ignores him, telling him simply that "the game isn't over", and this "new player" could be an interesting addition, since things were getting mundane and boring; they'll need to improvise a new script.
Meanwhile, Anarchy still ponders over the faint memory of Otaku Hero, and how that fight with the resistance was fun despite the Magical Destroyers not winning. She also can't seem to forget the LOVE, MAD, DESTROY words for some reason, and this glitches something in her mind, causing a similar pain to when she fought Slayer.
Late at night, when Otaku Hero Second visits the place where the first Otaku Hero was buried, Anarchy meets him, and as they battle, her pain increases, and more glimpses of Otaku Hero's past appear in her mind, until she stops herself from killing Otaku Hero Second just as the other Revolutionary Army members arrive. He notices the tears in her eyes, but she shouts and opens the buried grave of Otaku Hero... only to find it open. No body, just the items left by the rebellion.
As the resistance take a "glitched" (eyes glitching) Anarchy to their base, Otaku Hero Second comments their memories and love for Otaku Hero could never be truly erased, and the empty coffin proves that somewhere in the SSC, Otaku Hero is being kept prisoner for the past two years; him and many other otaku that supposedly died are being used to keep this game going. He recalls the day of Otaku Hero's "demise", and how thanks to the Magical Destroyers being controlled by the SSC, he was given the chance to escape and inform the Army survivors of all he learned while working there, including the failsafe Origin hid inside the game world's codes for some reason, LOVE, MAD, DESTROY.
When Anarchy wakes up, she laughs and cries at the same time, her memories still vague but returning, her uniform losing the dark pieces; as she asks Otaku Hero Second about Otaku Hero, he invites her to return to the Revolutionary Army and end that sick game. Meanwhile, Blue and Pink find strange how Anarchy disappeared "again", this being a recurrent thing during the two years they worked for the SSC. Shobon then gives them two separate missions to locate and destroy the resistance, and enters a secret room full of coffins like the ones Otaku Hero was in, only these having various plugs and wires attached to it, and there are also three incubation chambers illuminating a wall.
In both spots, the resistance alongside Anarchy manage to trap Blue and Pink, and make them confront their previous interests and things they liked and wanted, like surströmming and drugs, as well as spreading the LOVE, MAD, DESTROY failsafe message; their memories return in small glimpses just as happened with Anarchy. Despite the success of having the Magical Destroyers back in the resistance, Otaku Hero Second is sure that "this whole thing going so well might be a bad signal".
And true to that, Shobon has a new army, so powerful it annihilates an entire army of SSC members. He wonders if these will be enough to truly get things back on track... but Origin just tell him to get the new level tested by tomorrow.
Anarchy is talking to Otaku Hero Second, commenting on her memories coming back completely and how much regret she felt for everything she did while in the SSC, and sure she could never have her dream realized with all she knew now. However, he encourages her, reminding her of Otaku Hero's determination and trust on her, and sure he'd forgive her and the others, because that's the sort of person he is; Anarchy then wonders where he could be if he's indeed still alive after everything.
Their conversation is interrupted as thousands of blasts come from far away; the new army of Shobon is revealed: Magical Destroyers clones, all wearing different sets of clothes, and yet looking like their corrupted versions. The Destroyers hesitate, remembering how fighting with counterparts caused their turn to SSC in the first place, but Otaku Hero Second has a plan to uncover all the hidden truths Shobon's sick game have, and that this time, no more lives would be lost or corrupted.
The Destroyers lead three separate armies to battle the clones, and soon realize that despite their amazing strength and magical ability akin to theirs, they don't last very long after using all their magic, and end up melting or falling apart. With the memories of their battles beside Otaku Hero and their own promise between each other to take that world back, they push forward, and pray that Otaku Hero Second and his team achieve their goal.
Using their subterranean knowledge and improved stealth, Otaku Hero Second infiltrate the SSC building, and find the many higher-up supporters hiding in fear, begging for mercy and to stop "those abominations", pointing how they annihilated the original army and that Shobon threatened them as their next target if they stopped financing; Otaku Hero Second then force one of them to lead him to Origin, but they have no idea who that is.
A red light then lures him to the secret room, where he finally finds the body of Otaku Hero and the other otakus inside the coffins; despite his theory indeed being confirmed, as he looks up to the incubation chambers, he's shocked to see Anarchy, Blue and Pink. Otaku Hero then awakens from the coffin Second opened, and after getting quickly summarized on the situation, aims to "free the original Destroyers", the girls Shobon took to be their "main characters", creating the magical girls he met; however, they cannot just break their chambers, for there is still one obstacle to their freedom: Origin.
As the Destroyers make their way among the melting clones, Shobon threatens them, once again recalling how he made that perfect world and they were doing their job well, but they reaffirm their beliefs and wishes, not even caring when he threatens to reveal the "truth", Anarchy being somewhat aware of it thanks to Otaku Hero Second, and that their "real selves" deserve to live their reality and dreams as well. Fed up, Shobon calls once more their counterparts, born from the melted bodies of the armies they fought, and grown into a gigantic form. However, this time, the magical girls don't fight them, but hold them back.
Both Otaku Heroes them march again towards Shobon's room, and meet a bathing Origin; she nonchalantly as always claim how this world can be remodeled and recreated on her will, and comments on the behavior of the magical girls towards her; Otaku Hero and Second then point it wasn't unfounded, since some part of their real selves remained on the clones Shobon made. She then chuckles at how he's also replaceable on her view, but she keeps him around for being entertaining and knowing how to plan stories, showing a storyboard book to them. As Otaku Hero catches it, he fears for what the next pages might bring, but then... see they're all white. Otaku Hero Second then questions Origin on why never doing anything against the remains of the Revolutionary Army, and allow them to keep existing and spread rumors about Otaku Hero, and she admits not wanting the fun to end; despite her being immortal, she has seen too many worlds created and destroyed for her, only for her to end up lonely and bored again; this world and the real-life game she convinced Saito/Shobon to make has been the most fun she's witnessed so far. Otaku Hero is livid at her indifference with the lives she dragged into this real-life game she made, and all that didn't survived or sacrificed themselves for each side, but Otaku Hero Second asks about the white pages, and she admits Shobon has no talent for improvisation and kind of stopped after their encounter with her was put in the pages.

Some belated thoughts on the Mario movie because I ended watching it far more late than I wanted. As usual, some spoilers after the cut.
In terms of animation, art and visual design it’s just a treat to the eyes. Indeed, I would argue it’s Illumination prettiest movie to day.
That being said, it doesn’t surprise me that professional movie critics were so harsh with it. The overall storyline and plot are just extremely basic, bordering on shallow, so I’m not surprised critics weren’t impressed, especially considering other recent animated movies have been far better in that respect.
That being said, the story being simple is something that I was expecting from watching the trailers and it ultimately doesn’t bother me. Indeed, I would say a simple story it’s actually fitting for a Super Mario Bros. movie that’s also intended as an origin story of sorts for the characters, given that the mainline Mario games don’t have particularly complex or deep storytelling either.
Nevertheless, I definitely noticed some scripting problems that don’t have to do with the lack of complexity in the plot. Things like, for example, how Bowser just conveniently learns that Peach is traveling with Mario and that they are planning to take a short-cut with the Kong army for no real reason. It was hand-waved by having his lackeys reporting to him “intelligence inform us…” but that came off as lazy writing more than anything else.
Also, a couple of scenes that were intended as emotional moments felt a tad rushed, which diminished their impact. That probably could have been solved if the movie had gotten some additional minutes of run time.
All things considered, I’m again not surprised the critics weren’t impressed, but I wouldn’t say the movie is bad. On the contrary, it’s actually quite good. Not great mind you, even at its best Illumination is still not at the same level as the best of Pixar, Disney or DreamWorks. Even then, it’s still really enjoyable and fun: The characters are extremely charming, the action set-pieces are great and the humor and jokes are on point. I wouldn’t say it’s the best videogame movie adaptation ever, but it’s definitely among the best ones that have been made.
It also has a cavalcade of references to effectively the entire Mario franchise, as well as some other Nintendo properties. If you are videogame nerd, it’s definitely fun to be on the lookout for all the references, especially as they are actually integrated quite naturally in the movie without feeling forced.
I definitely liked that Peach didn’t become a distressed damsel in the end, as I feared. Her personality in the movie is certainly more assertive than how she is usually depicted in the mainline Mario games, but you still see her compassionate and sweet nature at points (at least, whenever she is not battling Bowser). The changes to her backstory are also actually interesting, makes me wonder if they are going to connect her to Rosalina’s origins in an eventual sequel.
By contrast, I was actually surprised that Luigi spent most of the movie as the “distressed dude”. While I was a bit disappointed that he didn’t appear more often, I welcomed how he joined the final battle. The scenes of fraternal love between him and Mario were also quite touching.
Donkey Kong and the Kong clan in general were just delightful. Definitely enjoyed the small arc between DK and Mario going from rivals to fire-forged friends of sorts. There were some rumors that Illumination was also developing a Donkey Kong spin-off and I certainly hope that’s the case.
With so much revenue from the box office, a sequel is inevitable as well as more films based on Nintendo’s games. I’m very skeptical they will pursue a “Nintendo Cinematic Universe” as some people have claimed, but I will definitely welcome more movies based on their IP, provided they have a similar level of quality to this one.
Given I watched the movie in Latin American Spanish, I actually don’t know how the whole voice acting saga that encompassed so much of the discourse pre-release actually ended, although my understanding is that the voice actors apparently did a better job than was expected. The Latin American actors were great in any case, and it was nice to see them featured in the credits.

The Super Mario Bros. Movie: A Rollercoaster Ride of Thrills (spoilers inbound)
So, last Sunday I finally got around to watching The Super Mario Bros. movie in theaters. I feel like I should preface my thoughts by giving a summary of my history with Mario as a series. When I was a kid, my family got a Wii around 2007, and I played a bunch of Mario Strikers and the Galaxy duology with my sibling. I got a DSi sometime afterwards and played a bunch of the first New Super Mario Bros., SM64DS, and Mario Party DS. From there, I eventually went on to play...pretty much every platformer this dude has starred in, alongside the mountain of spin-offs. Needless to say, I feel qualified to talk about how much I fucking loved this movie on nearly every front as a representation of the series.
Do I think it was great as a film? Ehhhh, not necessarily, the pacing was a little fast due to how Illumination writes their films and I think a longer runtime might've helped them flesh out certain interactions more. But I only really noticed these flaws when reflecting on what I saw at home. In the moment, I was overcome by a feeling of childlike joy and wonder at almost every scene, seeing every element I love about Mario on the big screen. The colorful world and art design, the beautiful and upbeat music, the kinetic and fluid platforming action...all of it. Pretty comparable to how I felt when I watched Sonic 2 in theaters, funny enough.
That said, I'm not really interested in comparing the two films against each other to see which is better. I got a similar level of enjoyment from both and can accept they're going for different approaches, while also wishing they would've made some improvements. This is solely about the Mario movie on its own, which I feel already gives me plenty to talk about. So, I wanna start with my negatives first so I can get to everything I loved in an uninterrupted burst.
As I alluded to before, my main issue was the pacing. Particularly, I think the speed at which scenes moved caused some character arcs to feel a little undercooked, like with Donkey Kong. The movie wanted a moment where Mario and DK realize they're not too different in chasing after approval from their fathers, but this exchange gets like, 30 seconds dedicated to it before they're back into action. I understand that as a kid's movie, it's probably preferred by the staff to have a high volume of fun stuff on screen to keep the kids entertained, but I always feel like Illumination struggles with a good balance.
While this is a much smaller issue in comparison, I also wish the soundtrack had remained entirely original without the licensed songs. Mario has a very particular kind of sound that these song choices didn't quite fit with, plus it meant that they took the place of original tracks written for the movie. There was also the case of songs lifted directly from the games, like the DK Rap and Fury Bowser's theme, where the original composers weren't credited for their work. Proper credit is generally a big issue with productions like these, so I wouldn't say it was surprising to see, I was just a little disappointed.
That's about my main issues out of the way, now for the fun part.
Most immediately striking, this is a gorgeous-looking movie, but that's something I had no doubts about going in. If nothing else, Illumination has proven to me they know how to make visually appealing films. However, I need to give special credit to the artists and animators for capturing the look and feel of Mario's world so perfectly in every detail. The blocks, the hills, the girders, the karts, everything is colorful and exactly how I wanted it to be. Plus, the scenes of action have great kinetic energy that matches the platforming you'd do in Mario games, they were all fun to watch.
The music is also a particular highlight for me. I feel like a lot of video game movie adaptations don't properly pay tribute to the soundtracks of what they're adapting, so hearing all these iconic Mario tracks seamlessly fitting into scenes is a treat. And of course, Bowser's piano ballad about Peach, absolute classic already. I would've been very upset if they didn't use the casting of Jack Black as Bowser for a musical number.
Since I mentioned casting, I'll also address the voice cast for the main characters. While I'm still not totally on-board with the practice of celebrities taking voice acting roles, they did pretty well! My personal highlights were Charlie Day as Luigi and Jack Black as Bowser, they really fit those roles. And yes, I did actually warm up to Chris Pratt as Mario. Honestly, the commercials must've had something out for him, the takes they selected didn't give a proper impression of his voice throughout the movie (and some weren't actually used, like the "Mushroom Kingdom, here we come" line).
In general, I would say the Mario movie was a great experience as a first watch! I compared it to a rollercoaster ride in the title for a reason: it was exciting and fun in the moment, but there's also not a lot to analyze in terms of story or anything like that. The mixed reception from critics does make sense to me after seeing it, since if you don't have the prior attachment to the Mario franchise, would probably feel like a lot of spectacle with little substance.

The Next Animated Blockbuster Heavies
In my 6-part series - of sorts - on animated movie blockbusters and how the Top 10 highest-earning animated movies of all-time changed rapidly over the course of 25+ years... I asked... What's next, then?
What cracks the Top 10 again?
Last year's MINIONS: THE RISE OF GRU came close with over $930m, which was down from what the first MINIONS spin-off of the DESPICABLE ME movies made in 2015, in a pre-COVID world. Families have certainly become choosier with these movies, as not all of them can - nor should - be box office smashes. I'm glad that movies like THE BAD GUYS can make about $250m worldwide and be considered a success, not something to throw away.
In fact, we're seeing similar movement on the live-action front of things now that the Marvel Cinematic Universe behemoths are starting to dry up (note the abysmal legs on films like DOCTOR STRANGE AND THE MULTIVERSE OF MADNESS, and ANT-MAN AND THE WASP: QUANTUMANIA), and there's value seen in small endeavors - many of which in the horror genre - such as BARBARIAN, SMILE, TICKET TO PARADISE, THE MENU, VIOLENT NIGHT, M3GAN, and COCAINE BEAR. Smaller series, like the CREED films, keep that train chugging. It's like we're in the '90s and early '00s again, seeing these little bread-n-butter movies being the real success stories.
Animated movies, depending on the budget, are in a similar frame. Universal has been smart with budgets: DreamWorks no longer spends more than $90m on what they make, Illumination has always kept costs below $100m, and yet their movies still look pretty darn cinematic-level. Sony Animation has done the same, along with Warner Animation Group and now Paramount. Most of the films coming out are doing fun things without a Disney or Pixar-sized budget, and it's no surprise that a lot of the profitable films are the likes of THE BAD GUYS and DC LEAGUE OF SUPER-PETS. All sub-$300m grossing movies that are still fine because they didn't cost so goddamn much...
Disney Animation and Pixar, in addition to misjudged release strategies under the stewardship of former CEO Bob Chapek, have yet to see a genuine animated success I feel. SOUL, LUCA, and TURNING RED all went straight to Disney+. SOUL made sense because no vaccine was out in late 2020, and even LUCA made sense because mid-2021 was before the Delta and Omicron variants, and many kids still weren't vaccinated. TURNING RED... Even then... TURNING RED I still feel would've made BAD GUYS numbers at best. $250m worldwide against the typical Pixar $150m+ budget would've been a massive bomb. Again, that family hesitancy and peoples' money being very tight. Ditto the Disney Animation movies. RAYA AND THE LAST DRAGON did the day-and-date thing; theaters for those who were willing to go, Disney+ $30 digital file (until it was free **three** months later). A company spat with Cinemark kept the film from playing everywhere across the country, so RAYA didn't do adequately as a theatrical title. I mean, it did fine for a film playing amidst an ongoing pandemic and the vaccines not being entirely out yet, but it was still a financial loss. ENCANTO made little more than $250m worldwide, not at all great against the budget. Huge hit on Disney+, though. Then they treated STRANGE WORLD, a movie that tested poorly (for whatever reason, be it the sci-fi story being too out of reach or the gay son) well before release, like an unwanted stepchild. Huge flop, but it managed to do okay enough on Disney+ from what I've seen.
It's telling that Chapek was booted right after that film came out, and soon thereafter, the returning Bob Iger drastically restructured the movie release strategy. The heavy pivot to streaming was viewed as a mistake. Many observers feel that future Disney animated releases, both from Pixar and WDAS, are cursed now. Disney+ is one of the most subscribed-to streaming services, movie trips cost a fortune for families and many others, and the release strategies for the last six or so animated movies conditioned families to just wait for a hassle-free movie night in the living room...
Maybe?
Universal is the opposite. They didn't pivot as heavily to streaming as Disney did, and it also helps that Peacock doesn't have as many subscribers. How many average Americans even know that there *is* Peacock? Disney and Disney+, far more recognizable as a brand I'd argue... Universal delayed movies, and sacrificed a few to streaming, but also experimented. TROLLS WORLD TOUR went straight to PVOD, but THE CROODS: A NEW AGE was given a theatrical-only rollout with a PVOD release down the line, and it paid off nicely. It also helped that the movie cost $65m to make! Delaying MINIONS Deux twice, SING 2 opened amidst Omicron and became the first pandemic-era animated movie to pass $100m at the domestic box office, beating RAYA, CROODS Two, ADDAMS FAMILY 2, ENCANTO, and hybrid TOM & JERRY. MINIONS Deux finally came out and made nearly a billion, despite the previous film being 7 years old at that point. Maybe the first DESPICABLE ME being a 12-year-old movie helped? Nostalgia, maybe? The suit memes? Whatever happened, something *worked*. Then there's PUSS IN BOOTS: THE LAST WISH, which has almost relied entirely on its ludicrously strong word-of-mouth and record-breaking multiplier...
So that leads me to ask...
What are the next titan-sized animated movie blockbusters?
Currently, the top 10 looks like this.
1) THE LION KING (2019) - $1,657m
2) FROZEN II - $1,450m
3) FROZEN - $1,280m
4) INCREDIBLES 2 - $1,243m
5) MINIONS - $1,159m
6) TOY STORY 4 - $1,073m
7) TOY STORY 3 - $1,067m
8) DESPICABLE ME 3 - $1,034m
9) FINDING DORY - $1,028m
10) ZOOTOPIA - $1,023m
It's no surprise that... A LION KING prequel, FROZEN III, DESPICABLE ME 4, TOY STORY 5, and ZOOTOPIA 2 are on the horizon. Money talks, ya know. You'll likely see a third INCREDIBLES at some point, too, and a third FINDING Somebody movie as well. As such, I think all of those are definitely contenders for the Top 10.
So far... We have quite a few animated movies on the horizon... Here are the ones that I think have a shot...
THE SUPER MARIO BROS. MOVIE (Universal - 4/5/2023) - It seems obvious at this point. Mario is *the* video game, one of the most iconic, the video game industry is largely where it is today because of his success, cross-generational appeal going all the way back to people who first played DONKEY KONG in arcades in 1981... If SONIC THE HEDGEHOG 2 could take in $405m worldwide, this all-animated picture should easily make double that. Domestic projections alone are through the roof, the marketing has been great, the hype is all over... I think it could challenge the billion and maybe even make it into the Top 10. (6/11/2023 NOTE: Grossed $1.3b... Put up a good fight!)
SPIDER-MAN: ACROSS THE SPIDER-VERSE (Sony - 6/2/2023) - The first film, SPIDER-MAN: INTO THE SPIDER-VERSE, opened in December of 2018 with an okay $35m... And then it had fantastic legs, climbed like a webhead to a stellar $190m domestic gross and very solid $384m worldwide take. Nowhere near the takes of the live-action Spideys, but the animated Spider-Man movie won hearts over and lasts beyond its theatrical release. The hype for this sequel is totally there, and it promises to be huge in scope. More universes, several Spiders, higher stakes... I see this performing similarly to... TERMINATOR 2, AUSTIN POWERS IN "THE SPY WHO SHAGGED ME", SHREK 2, DESPICABLE ME 2, and INCREDIBLES 2. Films whose predecessors were either sleeper hits or quite successful films, but built massive followings after their release, whom all turned out in droves to their sequels. I think ACROSS THE SPIDER-VERSE is going to be just that. As for the billion, that may seem steep for an animated Marvel movie and one that isn't in an established cinematic universe (the three MCU Spider-Man movies are the only movies featuring Spider-Man to ever crack $1b), but maybe INTO THE SPIDER-VERSE's staying power could make this one a surprise. (11/20/2023 NOTE: Grossed $690 million...)
WISH (Disney - 11/22/2023) - A real wild card, given that it's a Disney release, but both this and the summer Pixar flick ELEMENTAL are going to indicate going forward how Disney will market and release their animated movies post-Chapek. I'd imagine WISH, being the centennial celebration feature for the company, and an old-fashioned princess musical picture that's all about wishing stars (of course, the very PINOCCHIO song that became Disney's whole damn anthem) presented in a hand-drawn-esque look. This could all work in its favor, and it could perform similarly to FROZEN (helps that its director Chris Buck is back at the helm for this film), maybe not but still have those usual Disney Thanksgiving legs. Again, the whole "audiences now wait for Disney+" thing is an uphill battle, and it all depends on how Disney releases and markets the thing... But if they play their cards right, it could potentially be very, very big. A 100th anniversary picture doing okay-ish would look kinda embarrassing.
KUNG FU PANDA 4 (Universal - 3/8/2024) - The biggest KUNG FU PANDA movie was the second one, making a little bit more than what the first one pulled in... Without the aid of 3D and higher ticket prices. Both grossed in the $630-670m range, so in sense, KUNG FU PANDA 2 stayed flat and didn't increase, SHREK 2-style. KUNG FU PANDA 3 was the lowest-grossing of the three... Maybe an eight-year wait will make this one significantly bigger? Maybe if it's a reinvention of the franchise like PUSS IN BOOTS: THE LAST WISH to the SHREK series, it could surprise? One of the least likely to me, but I included it anyways, because anything's possible.
SPIDER-MAN: BEYOND THE SPIDER-VERSE (Sony - 3/29/2024) - This one's performance hinges entirely on how ACROSS THE SPIDER-VERSE does, and what kind of a cliffhanger that one ends on. Keep in mind, this was original supposed to be a two-part film with "Part One" being in the ACROSS title for a while. Even appears that on the film's first trailer and on some merchandise. (11/20/2023 NOTE: Delayed indefinitely, but still...)
INSIDE OUT 2 (Disney - 6/14/2024) - The original made $850m+ worldwide, astounding for an original feature not based on any pre-existing IP. Usually Pixar sequels make more than their predecessors, or match the attendance of the original, making for a higher gross (such as FINDING DORY, or TOY STORY 4's gross in comparison to TOY STORY 3's)... Either way, a billion is very much in sight for this one.
DESPICABLE ME 4 (Universal - 7/3/2024) - The second MINIONS movie came close to a billion, DESPICABLE ME 3 crossed the big billion, the only DESPICABLE ME movie to miss $900m worldwide was the first one. I think the momentum is still there for this franchise, even if this one is Gru and the girls, and not those yellow tictacs.
MUFASA: THE LION KING (Disney - 7/5/2024) - This one is probably the least likely, but I included it anyways since the film this is a prequel to is the highest-grossing animated film of all time... However, this one's tricky because... THE LION KING was a remake of a beloved film that was also a record-breaking smash, and 2019 LION KING only did as well as it did because of the 1994 classically animated original directed by Roger Allers and Rob Minkoff. If this movie was made in a universe where that LION KING did not exist? Oh, Jon Favreau's film wouldn't have been anywhere near as big... Anyways, THE LION KING got a direct-to-video sequel in 1998 made by other animation divisions of the company, *not* Walt Disney Feature Animation. SIMBA'S PRIDE is not being remade, so there's no gauge there. Even if it was, it still wouldn't have the same drawing power. This is a prequel story, technically it's all-new here... And honestly? I see this one playing out similarly to ALICE THROUGH THE LOOKING GLASS and MALEFICENT: MISTRESS OF EVIL. Their predecessors did well, off of the iconic originals and familiarity... but the sequels did not command the same attention. ALICE 2 outright flopped, MISTRESS OF EVIL managed to eke out an okay gross... I suspect this will be the same for MUFASA: THE LION KING. Outside of some very curious people and those who happened to like the 2019 movie, who really gives a dang? I expect great foreign numbers for this all-CG animal picture, but domestic I feel is where it sinks. (11/20/2023 NOTE: Delayed to December 20, 2024.)
SHREK 5 (Universal - 2025/26?) - Back in 2004, SHREK 2 made $919m at the worldwide box office... Without the aid of 3D, IMAX, the high ticket prices of today (and in the past decade for that matter), and a much larger international market... That's where the franchise peaked, because the domestic grosses slipped... While the foreign grosses gradually rose. SHREK FOREVER AFTER took in the biggest overseas total for the franchise back in 2010, and PUSS IN BOOTS did excellently in non-North American territories a year later... 11 years went by, PUSS IN BOOTS: THE LAST WISH legged it up something fierce here, and is doing great worldwide... SHREK also became a meme fountain this past decade, and that post-quadrilogy love remains a thing. There will definitely be a nostalgia rush for this one from people my age who saw the first SHREK in theaters, and several who grew up on the SHREK movies on home video. This will be massive, especially after the wildly cool reinvention of the franchise that we saw in THE LAST WISH... DreamWorks' first billion dollar movie, comin' up.
ZOOTOPIA 2 (Disney - 202?) - First one made a billion. Much like how INSIDE OUT made $850m+ worldwide, that's fantastic for an animated movie not based on any pre-existing IP.
TOY STORY 5 (Disney - 202?) - Given that the last two films grossed a billion, and despite the pleas of internet weirdos who insist that Pixar need not make this film (or have made TOY STORY 4 for that matter), your average joe is there for another round of the talking playthings. It only didn't work out for LIGHTYEAR, because Buzz wasn't a toy in that and that was a different iteration of the character. TOY STORY 5 is mainline, that's enough to get people coming. That is, if Woody and Buzz are back, or at least one of them.
FROZEN III (Disney - 202?) - FROZEN made a billion, FROZEN II made a billion, I think it's locked to do it. No matter how long the wait.
... and who knows, maybe a surprise or two along the way...

more hq dumpster battle and general hq thoughts and general adaptation thoughts
i'm reading some of the reception on reddit and it's interesting! i feel like... my expectations were not that high and maybe that helped?
i haven't even finished the hq anime, my hq love is really the manga (i think due entirely to me reading it first). i feel like i am simple and whatever medium i experienced something in first is what will have the most impact on me. (i mean there are exceptions like golden kamuy and tokyo ghoul, which i watched first but prefer the manga, but those anime adaptations have more obvious weak points).
like for sure hinata and bokuto's VA's unlocked new levels of love in me for the characters- but when i want to re-experience hq, i'll reread the manga. (or read good fic.)
this is also why i'm so reticent to watch the dungeon meshi adaptation... the manga to me is just perfect. i know it's not an uncommon opinion to prefer manga versions of these works, it's just that anime is so much more Popular and people are so much more willing to consume something in anime form while i really think the manga is exemplary and wanted people to like that? i dunno! i can't easily think of other adaptations... maybe tricornered window but that animation wasn't as strong so i just didn't watch much so don't really have an opinion on it. i've heard this opinion elsewhere but i'm not like, hoping every manga i like gets animated. i do like to see them animated! i love getting to hear who they've decided to put as voice actors! but i guess i have baggage over what else comes with it. it's not something i feel like i /need/.
is there anything i was really excited for an adaptation for??? i can't think of one??
(i mean the aa movie is amazing but it's like. supplementary material.)
oh i think i felt similarly about skip to loafer as dungeon meshi. it was nice and pleasant and had no obvious shortcomings it just Wasn't The Manga. i didn't watch much of it. i think i would enjoy it if i was in a mood for a slower paced show. maybe that's just an excuse, like i've been watching the she likes to cook and she likes to eat live action and that's similarly cozy. idk! brain weird and it wants what it wants.
there's also definitely a vein of hipsterism, like oh i READ it and you people just watched it laTER. which i don't think is fair but it's how i feel.
okay the only one i can REALLY think of enjoying both as separate experiences is fma brotherhood. i think the manga is amazing and i think the anime is amazing. so what does that say...
fma was already so popular at my time of my reading & watching that i had no room to feel hipster about it? lol?
i have lost the thread... where was i even going with this...
anyway i did enjoy the movie and i think part of it was i was not expecting to get the same kind of emotional fulfillment that i get from the manga with its more intricate details.
actually this brings me to more novel vs. tv which is interesting. like for tgcf watching the donghua first was SO FUCKING CONFUSING and reading the novels is so fucking illuminating as to what is going on and what people are thinking. i was watching she likes to cook and she likes to eat and aaauh something else... and it's just so visual and more third person to see a donghua or live action where you usually really don't know the interior of a character's brain which is so different from the novels, usually. i guess live action is even more removed if you don't see their internal monologue. that's why... hm i feel like reading a novel vs. adaptation is often rewarding bc the story itself is told in a different way? vs manga to anime where the storytelling manner often stays pretty similar. it's much more faithful usually. there's not as much to adapt as much as just turn into an animation.
like for hq movie i got the joy from the animation itself, the voice actors, charming character interactions, seeing these panels adapted to the big screen. but the version of that kenma hinata moment that is seared into my brain eternally is the manga one.

Within the pantheon of good sci-fi franchises, the Alien team is obviously probably the most important. The team revolutionized the sci-fi style and has now created a few of the biggest science-fiction spectacles seen in the giant screen. But’s in addition created its reasonable share of extreme misses. Ridley Scott’s 1979 work of art Alien set the building blocks for just what the team is, producing an immediate classic that's the best sci-fi films available. Subsequently, seven even more Alien films have actually used, including two prequel films as well as 2 spinoffs. The team is iconic and another of the very most familiar brands in Hollywood’s record. From bursting chests to acidic bloodstream, the team features created numerous extremely unforgettable moments and pictures. The team has additionally included work from a few of the biggest administrators in Hollywood, from Scott to Avatar: the way in which of Water‘s James Cameron to David Fincher. Its not all Alien film is similar. Most are action-packed war films outfitted with laser weapons and room mercenaries, while many of these tend to be philosophical meditations on creation. From jaw-dropping spectacles to careless snooze fests, each Alien film differs in effectiveness. listed here are all films when you look at the Alien team, rated from worst to most readily useful. 8. Aliens vs. Predator: Requiem (2007) 20th Century Studios The 2nd installment when you look at the Alien vs. Predatorspinoff show is a complete tragedy. While neither AvP movie is great, Aliens vs. Predator: Requiem takes the dessert given that worst Alien film when you look at the team. Introduced in 2007, Requiem takes whatever made the prior Alien and Predator films great and tosses it when you look at the garbage. Exactly what benefits is an appartment, meaningless, and completely forgettable film. Aliens vs. Predator: Requiem is defined just after the occasions associated with the earlier AvPmovie. The movie mostly has to do with the look between a Predator and an Alien-Predator hybrid referred to as Predalien. Following the Predalien escapes and results in destruction in a nearby small-town, an experienced veteran Predator is sent to eliminate the Predalien. The film demonstrably would like to only show two badass extraterrestrial animals battling one another in a gory R-rated getaway, however it mostly doesn't fulfill that itch. As an alternative, Requiem is hindered by its level figures and useless assault. There are many gory fatalities and enjoyable activity for followers of bloody beast murders, nevertheless film’s overly dim illumination helps it be such that it’s extremely difficult to see any such thing. 7. Alien vs. Predator (2004) 20th Century Studios The very first AvP film, Alien vs. Predator, is not since horrific as Requiem, however it pretty sure is not great, often. Just like Requiem, the 2004 spinoff is an appartment 110 moments that's seriously restricted to its PG-13 score. Followers associated with the show had been looking to see a Xenomorph square off against a Predator from the time an Easter egg in Predator 2 teased the truth that those two types take the exact same world. Sadly, Alien vs. Predator is a letdown. The film is targeted on its peoples figures way too much for a film entitled Alien vs. Predator, with two-dimensional folks offering just as goals for frightening eliminates. Alien vs. Predator follows several archaeologists because they investigate a pyramid discovered hidden beneath the Antarctic ice. Unbeknownst towards group, is the fact that they’ve only discovered a war between two alien events. While Alien vs. Predator gets some things for the enjoyable mythologizing associated with the two iconic film beasts, the film is way too muted and risk-averse becoming recalled. Its scares and gore tend to be seriously hindered by its score, and people are continuously remaining restlessly waiting around for next epic Xenomorph-Yautja showdown. Whenever those showdowns do come, however, this film discovers its feet.
6. Alien: Resurrection (1997) 20th Century Studios Alien: Resurrection is a film that hardly ever really must be made, however it is mostly organized by Sigourney Weaver’s last overall performance as Ripley. Really, kind of. Weaver in fact plays Ripley 8, a clone of Ellen Ripley that armed forces boffins made out of DNA from bloodstream examples taken before Ripley’s demise in Alien 3. However, Alien: Resurrection had been significantly condemned right away; it is well-noted that studio mostly had no clue locations to use the team following the lackluster box-office overall performance of Alien 3. Consequently, Resurrection is a disjointed film that simply does not work. Set 200 many years following the occasions of Alien 3, Resurrection continues and concludes the first Alien tale. The armed forces resurrects Ripley being draw out the alien from within the lady, unwittingly fusing Ripley 8’s DNA with the DNA associated with the Xenomorph queen. Whenever an enormous amount of bred Xenomorphs escape containment and start to ruin the armed forces ship, Ripley must determine in which the woman allegiance lies. Alien Resurrection is quirky and unusual, with quippy discussion and strange land machinations prevalent throughout Joss Whedon’s script. But’s mostly an inoffensive sci-fi knowledge that has a fantastic cast including Winona Ryder, Brad Dourif, and Ron Perlman. 5. Alien 3 (1992) 20th Century Fox Alien 3 the most maligned sequels ever, however it’s not since awful as some claim it becoming. The film, the very first function movie directed by David Fincher, considerably diverts the tone and future associated with the team. Alien 3 had a great deal to meet, seeing that its two predecessors tend to be masterpieces, therefore it is practical why it absolutely wasn’t obtained warmly. Itsn’t since great as Alien or Aliens, naturally but inaddition it is not a steaming stack of garbage like a few of the various other films when you look at the team (I’m viewing you, Alien vs. Predator: Requiem). The film is a wild spin in the team which could never be performed perfectly, however it’s nonetheless interesting to see these types of a big move on some blockbuster internet protocol address. After the occasions of Aliens, Ripley could be the only survivor following the ship holding the lady, Newt, and Hicks crash-lands on Fiorina 161, a desolate wasteland populated by previous inmates associated with the planet’s maximum-security jail. Today needing to protect against the grimy guys, including the woman extraterrestrial enemies, Ripley is required into the woman many intense tale however. The film is a startling vary from the prior films, showing followers within extremely outset that any feeling of crowd-pleasing fanfare will be dumped the screen. Alien 3 is interesting for the faults; Fincher himself notoriously disowned the film as a result of the stressful behind-the-scenes imaginative merry-go-round that put this movie down in the incorrect track through the get-go. 4. Alien: Covenant (2017) 20th Century Studios / twentieth Century Studios The 2nd prequel when you look at the Alien team does not do just about anything brand new using internet protocol address, but that is alright. Alien: Covenant presents followers with a far more grounded film following the huge aspirations of Prometheus, concentrating straight back in the absolute scary to be hunted by a terrifying alien animal. It’s the scariest the team has-been because the initial Alien, plus it appears since great given that vast expanses in Prometheus. Alien: Covenant uses the people in a colony ship bound for a remote world in the far region of the galaxy. They find out what is apparently an uncharted utopia and meet David (Michael Fassbender), the artificial survivor associated with the condemned Prometheus journey. All appears ideal for this band of partners, but things just take a deadly change the even worse if they very first encounter aggressive aliens. Fassbender’s
overall performance given that android David could be the franchise’s well acting getaway since Sigourney Weaver, plus it’s among shows associated with the prequel show. David’s mental flatness produces the absolute most terrifying non-Xenomorph personality when you look at the whole team. Covenant is held back once again, however, by its torn nature. It seems just as if manager Ridley Scott would like to explore the philosophical ramifications setup in Prometheus, additionally would like to provide in a far more classic scary film means. However, Alien: Covenant is a grand callback as to the made initial films so unique. 3. Prometheus (2012) 20th Century Fox Prometheus kicks from the prequel installments towards Alien team is an efficient means. It provides in reliving the thrilling fear associated with the initial films, yet in addition expands the world in a huge means. With manager Ridley Scott straight back within helm, the movie’s biggest power is simply exactly how great it seems. Scott catches an astounding beauty when you look at the alien globe, washing the viewers with an even of scale which haven’t already been seen before when you look at the show. But Prometheus can also be most likely the absolute most divisive film when you look at the whole team. An exceedingly complicated land and huge thematic objectives can alienate some followers through the style enjoyable that made initial two films so efficient. Prometheus is certainlyn’t everyone’s cup beverage, however if you are able to belly the galaxy-brained land and motifs, it is a great experience. Prometheus uses a group of explorers and boffins towards darkest elements of the world once they discover an idea to mankind’s beginnings. Leading the journey tend to be Shaw (Noomi Rapace) and Holloway (Logan Marshall-Green), two brilliant individuals who hold excessively various thinking toward the spiritual body weight of the trip. If the team gets to the remote moon, they discover responses they look for. Sadly, in addition they discover unimaginable scary. While Prometheus is wanting to-do lots using its thematic resonance, the film is without question efficient in producing a beautifully terrifying environment. It might take advantage of a lighter dosage of mythology, but Prometheus is a good hunting sci-fi scary movie which makes excellent using its twists and horror. 2. Aliens (1986) 20th Century Studios / twentieth Century Studios James Cameron does not have actually an enormous filmography, nevertheless guy yes does not miss. He’s many revered for films like Titanic and their two Avatar installments, but Aliens is without question one of his true most readily useful. One of the biggest sequels available, Aliens takes the team in a unique path in a highly skilled manner. Whereas the first Alien is much more of a claustrophobic scary film in room, Aliens is an all-out science-fiction war film. Cameron’s path causes a tense, action-packed excitement trip of a film, and Weaver’s overall performance as Ripley reasons the movie in an individual realism that offers a difficult body weight towards movie’s happenings. Released seven many years following the initial film, Aliens follows a deeply distraught Ripley as she comes back towards moon in which the lady team discovered the alien ship to start with. Ripley, who was simply drifting in room for 57 many years in cryo-sleep, is informed that moon has already been colonized by people for terraforming functions. Whenever communications tend to be lost using colony, Ripley agrees to come back towards web site with a unit of Colonial Marines to research. Whatever they encounter is a complete hive of a huge selection of Xenomorphs. Today, the group must capture and destroy their particular way-off associated with the infested moon. Aliens is teeming with design and surface; it is an ass-kicking activity film that never ever stops to within the ante from scene to scene. 1. Alien (1979) 20th Century Studios / twentieth Century Studios
exactly what else could top this record aside from the first Alien, among best classic sci-fi movies ever made. Ridley Scott’s 1979 masterpiece is a stunning, intense piece of science fiction horror. Featuring outstanding performances and personable characters, Alien turns a sci-fi odyssey into the nether regions of space into a horrifying, claustrophobic nightmare. Whereas the rest of the Alien movies aren’t afraid to create intense action set pieces and vast mythologies, Alien finds beauty with its general ease of use. The film uses the deep-space team associated with the commercial starship Nostromo. If the ship obtains a distress sign from an alien vessel, the team is awakened from their particular cryo-sleep capsules to research the beacon. Onboard the alien ship, they encounter a nightmare. An organism from inside an egg connects it self to 1 associated with the team and unwittingly herbs an alien embryo within themselves. If the alien comes into the world aboard, the team is obligated to endure from this as yet not known and extremely dangerous menace. Alien is masterfully crafted in most means; Scott skillfully transforms the Nostromo into a coffin of horrors. No Alien film is ever going to match the original’s absolute horror and standard of social value. it is terrifying, it is gory, it is intense, plus it’s wonderful. Alien isn't just the very best of the team, it is one of the better blockbusters available. Editors' tips #Alien #movies #ranked #Digital #styles

Unveiling the Depths of God's Love: A Journey Through The Chronicles of Narnia
In a world often filled with chaos and uncertainty, there is a profound need for love, compassion, and hope and in my search for my passion, I have been continuously led back to the word LOVE. I feel his hand guiding me toward being a vessel of His love, reaching out to uplift, encourage, and bring healing to the lives of others. Guided by this timeless biblical verse, I am compelled to share the transformative power of God's love with the world. "A new command I give you: Love one another. As I have loved you, so you must love one another." - John 13:34 (NIV). As a person who loves writing and feels a connection to fictional worlds and characters, I am often led to make comparisons of my faith to those fictional worlds and characters. This has been a skill I’ve really developed and used when working with kids because they often view the world through a comparison.
In the realm of literature, there are few narratives that I believe capture the essence of divine love as powerfully as C.S. Lewis' renowned series, The Chronicles of Narnia. Growing up, these books were my bedtime stories and birthday party themes. I distinctly remember going to see the third movie in theaters and how excited I was that the mall had made their greeting Santa area Narnia themed.
C.S. Lewis is widely regarded as one of the most influential Christian writers of the 20th century. His journey with Christianity is a captivating narrative of intellectual exploration, deep introspection, and profound spiritual transformation. From his initial skepticism to his eventual conversion, Lewis's path to embracing Christianity illuminates the power of reason, imagination, and the pursuit of truth. While I could write a full breakdown of his journey to finding God, that’s not the goal of today’s blog entry.
Drawing inspiration from the Christian faith, Lewis weaves together a tapestry of fantastical adventures, moral dilemmas, and the undeniable presence of a divine being. As we delve into the enchanting world of Narnia, we discover echoes of God's boundless love for humanity, leading us to ponder the profound question: What can we learn about God's love through The Chronicles of Narnia?
The Chronicles of Narnia, with its vivid imagery and allegorical nature, reveals the multifaceted aspects of God's love, reminding us of the sacrificial nature of divine affection. Just as Aslan, the majestic lion and central character in the series, willingly lays down his life to save others, God's love is exemplified through the ultimate sacrifice of Jesus Christ. The parallel is undeniable, and it invites us to reflect on the depth of love that God has for humanity.
Throughout the series, we witness instances where characters in Narnia make mistakes, betray one another, or fall into despair. However, Aslan's unwavering love persists, offering redemption and the opportunity for transformation. In a similar way, God's love surpasses our shortcomings, our failures, and our sins. No matter how far we may have strayed, His love reaches out to embrace us, offering forgiveness, healing, and restoration.
The Chronicles of Narnia resonates with readers on a personal level, allowing us to perceive God's love in a tangible and relatable manner. As we immerse ourselves in the enchanting tale, we may uncover valuable lessons and applications for our own lives.
One significant personal application that I have drawn from this exploration is the call to extend God's love to others. Aslan's love for the characters in Narnia transcends boundaries and differences, emphasizing the importance of loving one another unconditionally. Similarly, we are called to mirror this divine love in our relationships, reaching out to those who are hurting, marginalized, or in need of compassion. The Chronicles of Narnia serves as a poignant reminder that through acts of kindness, empathy, and forgiveness, we can manifest God's love and transform lives.
The Chronicles of Narnia acts as a captivating portal through which we can glimpse the profound depths of God's love. C.S. Lewis masterfully intertwines elements of fantasy and spirituality, inviting readers to embark on a journey that reveals divine truths. From the sacrificial love demonstrated by Aslan to the transformative power of forgiveness, this literary masterpiece presents a vivid tapestry of God's love in action.
As we close the book on our journey through Narnia, many people have resonated with the relatable characteristics of the characters brought to life by Lewis. Whether you feel seen by the writings of Peter’s pride, Susan’s unwavering need for things to be logical, Edmund’s jealousy of his siblings' seemingly unwavering faith, or Lucy’s feelings of being unseen or unheard, we can carry the lessons we learn from these characters and embrace God's unwavering love in our own lives. Just as the characters in The Chronicles of Narnia are forever changed by encountering Aslan's love, may we also be transformed by the overwhelming, boundless love of God.

Week 3
INTRODUCTION TO CAMERA HANDLING:
This week, we were introduced to the Camera and the difference parts of it.
What is Camera? - A camera is an optical instrument that can record images directly that can be easily stored directly and transmitted to another location or both. The images may be still photographs for moving images such as videos or movies.
The term 'camera' comes from the word 'Camera Obscura' meaning dark chamber in Latin. The modern camera evolved from the camera Obscura & the functioning of the camera is quite similar to the functioning of the human eye.
Parts of camera
Viewfinder - One of a camera's most crucial components is the viewfinder. You can see and frame your subject with this rectangular component on the back of your camera. Some viewfinders are entirely digital, displaying information before to the shot, such as the shutter speed, aperture, and ISO.
Pentaprism - A mirror positioned at a 45-degree angle behind the camera lens is called a pentaprism. The viewfinder receives the light that was recorded by the lens thanks to the mirror. Prior to pentaprisms, capturing pictures required the photographer to always gaze downward. This would only let you shoot pictures at hip level, which is not optimal for some topics. Single-lens reflex or SLR cameras are now defined by pentaprisms, which eliminated this issue.
Internal Flash - The area of the camera's anatomy that, when activated, emits a burst of light (i.e., a flash of light) is known as the built-in flash. To be able to illuminate the subject, it is fixed in place on the front or top of the camera. Only when a photo is taken by the camera does the built-in flash activate.
Bright Button - On cameras with an integrated pop-up flash, the flash button is present. Its primary purpose is to make the flash open before being activated. On some cameras, if you push and hold the flash button at the same time, you can change the flash's intensity by adjusting the flash exposure compensation.
Camera Mount - The mechanical component that enables the lens to attach to the camera is known as a lens mount. Only lenses that are compatible with your camera's lens mounting system may be used. To guarantee customers will use their lenses, certain camera manufacturers use exclusive lens mounting methods.
Dial Mode - One of the camera's most often utilised components is the mode dial. The camera's little cogwheel at the top right of the device changes the camera's modes (i.e., ways of operating). A camera may also operate in a variety of modes, such as scene-based, scene-based automated, and semiautomatic settings.
Shutter - The amount of light that reaches the camera sensor is managed by the shutter, a piece of opaque metal or plastic. Also, how your exposure looks depends depend on how long your shutter is left open. This can be started by pressing the shutter release button, and the shutter speed setting on your camera can be used to alter it as necessary.
Aperture - One of the three pillars that determine how your photos are exposed is their aperture. The aperture is also the hole in your lens through which light enters. Depending on how much light you want in your exposure, these tiny, thin blades on this portion can contract or extend. It also influences your camera's depth of field, which is important for deciding how much background blur you want.

Nothing as in depth as my last post about Mike manipulating time but…
I feel like they’ve been trying to tell us about Mike and time manipulation and Byler. Like I said, I’m pretty sure Mike froze the upside down when he found out Will was missing.
But on a metaphorical level, they’ve been hinting about Mike’s connection to time. Look at S3: Mike is getting on well with El. The first shot we see is of them in each other’s arms. Afterwards, Mike goes to the movies with Will. But then, he ditches Will on the hill to go be with El. Mike and El break up. Byler fights and we get that “What did you think, we were just gonna play DnD and Nintendo for the rest of our lives in my basement?” line. Will feels like Mike is pushing him away for El. Later Mike says he loves El, but she doesn’t say it back initially. Then Will is leaving Hawkins for California, but him and Mike appear to leave things on a good note. El tells Mike she loves him finally and they kiss.
Then we get a lot of shots of Mike over Hopper’s monologue, especially about the wanting to turn back the clock part. And he appears to relive all these moments where he lost Will—the heroes song playing, him hugging his mom like the he did the day they found Will’s body.
So what happens in S4? We open on another letter, this time from El about how time can slow down or speed up depending on our emotions, because we’re all time travelers. Mike and Will, despite what we last saw, are not talking. Mike is leaving Hawkins for California. Him and El kiss. Will, Mike, and El all go to the roller rink. Mike and Will fight. Then El and Mike fight. El has said she loves Mike. This time he’s the one not saying it. Mike and Will make up. El leaves. Will says the line about playing DnD and Nintendo for the rest of their lives, but instead of fighting, this scene brings them closer. Eventually everyone’s reunited and Mike says he loves El, but he doesn’t look happy about it. Will is now the one pushing him towards El. Later, in Hawkins, we even get similar shots at the end of S4 to S3. The same light is coming through the ceiling in the cabin, but it’s illuminating Will from Mike’s POV. El and Mike are still not talking. Then we get back to that hill that Mike abandoned Will on last time. What we see proves that Mike’s story is about turning back the clock and making different choices. His S4 arc is undoing S3.
“If I only could, I’d make a deal with God, And I’d get him to swap our places, Be runnin’ up that road,
Be runnin’ up that hill…”

Disaster twins strike again! This show has fucking fantastic disability/nuerodivergency/queer representation and I adore it!
So, my headcanons after the movie:
Leo:
Suffers from chronic pain and fatigue; has weaker lungs and immune system; and has to use a cane to keep himself steady in case he has a dizzy spell. Uses a c-pap to make sure he breathes when he sleeps; and he has some emergency oxygen tubing that he puts on if he’s really having a hard time breathing.
Has nightmares, ptsd, and frequent panic attacks; all involving weightlessness, falling, or just the feeling of Krang beating the shit outta him.
Often uses compression clothes to help with sensory issues. The whole gang tend to wander around the lair in comfy clothes nowadays. Everyone needs the extra comfort.
Has a real nasty case of tinnitus and wears hearing aides to help with that. I just realize the don’t really have ears, just ear slits. So instead, he wears noise canceling headphones (him and Donnie have a habit of kidnapping each other’s headphones) that donnie has modified to act as hearing aids, filtering in the outside sound
Leo’s Gay as Fuck (I mean Da Vinci is so proud of this boy), and he’s a demi boy. He definitely has adhd and quite the handful of nuerodivergency disorders. Like he has some nasty dyslexia and tonal issues. AMAB pronouns: he/they
Donnie:
Makes a softer battle shell for around the house, but refuses to take it off unless they’re bathing, or slapping some ointment on it. It definitely bubbled and blistered after being attached to the Krang’s nuerotech (he was very proud of coming up with that name); his arms also had a similar nasty rash, but it was no where near as bad.
His eyes glow in the dark, eerie and blank, but quite powerful, they illuminate a good distance around him, but he himself can only see shadows.
His nerves are incredibly rebellious after being merged like that. Sometimes he can’t feel shit, others it’s a weird electrical tingle that passes through, and most often it’s his nerves all feeling like they’re catching on fire. He was used to sensory issues from his nuerodivergency, but this was a fucking whole other level.
He does a lot of data collection and processing over all the shit that they have left over from the Krang attack. It helps him process all the fucking horrors they went through.
Pronouns: He/They. Gender: agender. He’s an aromantic bisexual (or at least bi and somewhere on the aroace spectrum) AFAB
General:
ASL comes back in full force. When Donnie was little there were times he’d go nonverbal (hell, Raph still does go nonverbal when he gets to anxious (Savage Raph)), but he slowly grew outta it. Now, they all have nonverbal days and ASL has become a major part of their speaking. Most of them will sign while speaking outta habit, and not even realize it.
Turtle cuddle piles become the norm; they’ve turned the common area into a huge cushiony pillow fort of sorts. All the good blankets, textures, all of it, they pile in there. There’s also a closet that they transformed into a hideaway cove of sorts for anyone needing to be alone, so then they won’t be too far.
They take a pretty long break from any kind of hero work, at least 6 months. But after that, everyone was on a break. Hell, hypno and warren had brunch with the turtles once a month. They’ve reached a nice frenemy status, and honestly, the couple feels fucking horrible for what went down with the Krang.
Everyone goes to therapy!!! Especially CJ, Draxum, and Splinter; while everyone goes for help processing the attack, these three have trauma that haunts them from long before.
CJ has survivor’s guilt, c-ptsd, and a shitty relationship with food since it wasn’t always available, and the youngest and the fighters always had eating priority. He also fucking hates Draxum, cuz in his timeline Draxum gains a god/savior-complex; he decides that it would be better for the hidden city to be destroyed than for the Krang to have it. Donnie and Raph (while on CJ babysitting) found out, and went to stop him. But he beheaded donnie, in front of 4 year old CJ, then murder-suicided the entire city. Raph managed to get themselves out.
After hearing the devastating news that au him beheaded his own son and destroyed the very thing he swore to protect… and he wasn’t surprised… Draxum realized he wants to make his kids proud (especially Mikey, who poured so much love into him, even when he didn’t want it) So, he agrees to therapy. With a licensed therapist who wasn’t his child.
There he realizes he was raised in an insane bloodthirsty cult, and he was literally raised to be a child soldier. He spends a long time unlearning the cult mentality he grew up with. (And yes I am very much projecting my own feelings of learning that your parents religious ideology functioned more like a cult than a religion)
Splinter has to deal with his fucking trauma from Big Mama. Like, she abused the fuck outta him and he *still*, to this day, believes she can be fixed/redeemed. He has to unlearn a lot of shit, and his relationship with Draxum (the glorious nebulous divorcée vibes) is far healthier and it helps him better understand the way relationships are supposed to work. Oh, and he learns how to properly process grief and depression.
Anyway, I have lots of post movie feels, and quite a few 2012 crossover notes that I may or may not do something with (don’t worry, no 2012 hate; them characters just need therapy and a huge group huge/cuddle pile)
