I sort of used to think that the reason there’s no redemption for Smerdyakov’s character is, in part, due to the structural narrative of the novel and the setting— but that doesn’t entirely track on its own, given the themes presented in Crime and Punishment, considering Rodya’s crime is much worse and C&P is ALL about his redemption.

I think the real reason Smerdyakov gets no redemption is the Zhutchka thing.

It is passionately argued and established that Fyodor was no father, and so to murder him was no murder. If that applies to Mitya, then that applies to Smerdyakov even moreso, as Fyodor was, in the most literal sense, never a father to him, and failed him worse than he failed any of his children.

So that cannot be the thing that makes Smerdyakov irredeemable, or the reason he has to die.

We know about the cats, obviously. But that was only ever mentioned in passing, as something he did in childhood. I think that the fact that he has carried that pathology on into adult life is supposed to be received as a significant revelation, and it should be really shocking. It is really shocking. It’s just really fucking horrible to imagine. That whole encounter is shrouded in mystery, and we don’t really get any answers about it, like how these two met or why, or any context other than the fact that Ilusha is, now on his deathbed, completely fucking devastated.

It just sort of implies again that we’re only getting the tip of the iceberg in terms of Smerdyakov’s fucked up pathology. He has an even darker personality than we’ve previously been led to believe.

Y’all KNOW how much I love him, but I agree that if he does anything irredeemable it is that. And I agree that that is irredeemable. His childhood was not his fault, it fucked him up permanently and left him with absolutely no recourse as an adult. I still love him and I don’t even necessarily judge him, even for this, because… how can you?

It may be easy to pass judgment but the reality is that we’re talking about someone so abjectly abused and exploited that that’s not really relevant or appropriate, in my opinion.

Smerdyakov stood absolutely no chance at growing up into a normal, appropriately adjusted adult. The ONE most important thing that might help someone who comes from that kind of background break that cycle of abuse in adulthood is to be met with kindness and compassion. Smerdyakov’s childhood abuse made him weird and disgusting, and now he is shunned for being weird and disgusting.

It’s significant, that Smerdyakov’s one irredeemable act is what he does to Ilusha.

I think it’s also significant that Mitya shares this culpability in Ilusha’s suffering, (the “wisp of tow” incident), the same way he shares culpability with Smerdyakov in Fyodor’s murder, when he is tried and convicted despite his innocence.

Alyosha interferes in Ilusha’s violent outbursts while he is still a child, and meets him with love and compassion, and therefore Ilusha is saved. Not from death, but his soul is saved, in the most Christian, Dostoevskian sense.

Remember, Alyosha, disciple of Zossima, who preached about praying for the suicides, “being the servant of my servant”, and spoke of Joseph being sold into slavery by his own brothers on his deathbed.

Smerdyakov never received that kind of intervention from anyone, not in childhood, and now that he’s an adult, whatever compassion anyone might have once had for him is well past. And so it’s too late for him. But it’s not too late for Ilusha.

This is the great blind spot in Ivan’s ideology, is that he fails to see that these abused children grow up into adults, and frequently grow up into adults who often perpetuate the cycle of abuse.

The Brothers Karamazov is, fundamentally, a novel about children.

I’m reminded of Matthew 18:6: “If anyone causes one of these little ones—those who believe in me—to stumble, it would be better for them to have a large millstone hung around their neck and to be drowned in the depths of the sea.”

And, well, we all know how Smerdyakov died.

What’s scary is based on some of the stuff Maya said, I wonder if this is only the tip of the iceberg with Liam. He’s probably done so much shit we don’t even know about. Maybe even the other boys???

I know I’m ranting and no one probably cares but some of the tweets I saw defending Liam were so triggering and upsetting. Trending hashtags like #FreeLiam and #WeLoveYouLiam when a woman CONFIRMED that he abused her is just so sickening. This is why women don’t come forward. This is especially why victims of celebrities and people in power don’t come forward. Because this is how they’re treated. Maya literally even confirmed that Liam and his team have tried to silence her and didn’t want the book to come out. I just… there are no more words.

This whole situation is so triggering… I’m so angry and upset.

"Girl who was that?" Rae asks, when she walks over to my side of the bar after Jungkook left. 

"His name is Jungkook and honestly I don't really know much about him. He caught me off guard and was asking me a bunch of questions that I didn't really think to ask him any" I say, brushing a strand of hair behind my ear.

"You think he's cute don't you?" she asks taking note of my shyer demeanor while thinking about him. 

"He is attractive and dreamy but I'm married" I say flashing the ring at her in a similar fashion as I had done with Jungkook. "Dreamy? Really?" she teases, snorting at my description.

"I'm sorry okay he's the first nice guy I've actually talked to in a while since my husband and I got married" I say, resting my elbows on the bar and throwing my face in my hands. 

"From what I heard, it doesn't really sound like he's all that good of a husband" she says, not bothering to spare my feelings. "He's not that bad" I mumble, scarcely believing my words with every effort I put in to defend him.

"If you've gotta say it like that after only two people have said otherwise I don't really think you've got much going for you" she says setting a glass of water in front of me, already seeing signs of a need to stop drinking for the night.

"I mean, he's all I've ever known. He was my first serious boyfriend, my first everything if I'm being honest. We met in college and really hit it off and everything just felt right. After we graduated he asked me to marry him and it felt like a fairy tale ending you know?" I say, swirling around the ice in my cup in an effort to avoid her gaze.

"Sounds like it didn't turn out the way you thought it was going to though" she says, clearly feeling sorry for me. 

"Things between us are fine" I say sitting back up and clearing my throat before taking a drink of water to hopefully help me swallow down this lump in my throat.

Getting a reality check from two perfect strangers with them only knowing the tip of the iceberg of my marriage has been hard to accept to say the least. 

"What's his name anyways? I might've seen him before if he likes to go out sometimes" she asks, coming back over with a pitcher to fill up my water, encouraging me to drink more. 

"Taehyung, well Tae for short" I say, hoping and praying that the name won't ring a bell. "Got a picture of him?" she asks, leaning in closer when I pull out my phone.

"Shit" she says under her breath as soon as she sees him. 

"What?" I ask pulling it back as though her words had stung me.

"He's come here a few times with some friends of his. They're one of the rowdier groups that comes by so we've had to kick them out on quite a few occasions" she says clearing her throat at the end, almost as if she's trying to hold something back. 

"If you know anything else about him please tell me" I implore, refusing to be in the dark about this if she knows.

"He's gone 'home' with a few girls here" she says putting home in quotes since he's obviously never brought them back to our place.

"Do you know how many?" I ask, knowing that I really don't want to know the answer. 

"I've lost track..." she answers, hating that she had to be the one to reveal this to me. "Did you know?" she asks with her brows pinched together.

"That he's been sleeping around? Yeah, I know" I say taking a big gulp of my water as if it were the solution to this fucked up life I'm living. 

"Why haven't you left?" she asks, genuinely concerned.

"He's my husband" I say with glossy eyes but then clear my throat again to hopefully curb these emotions. "And? He's a dick" she says, continuing with her efforts to never pull punches.

"You don't know him like I do" I say, standing up and grabbing my purse to go. 

"Just, be careful okay?" she implores, placing her hand on top of mine before I get too far.

"I will" I say and give her a sad smile before walking out and waiting for the cab I called a few moments ago.

Walking into the house I'm relieved to see that Taehyung is no where to be found, the lights still having been turned off from when I had locked up. 

Taking off my shoes, I quickly put them in the closet in an effort to cover my tracks and I run into the bedroom soon after that. I take off my clothes and throw them into the washer to again avoid any suspicions because I don't want him even remotely knowing that I managed to leave the house on my own again.

Walking into the bathroom to take a shower as well I see that somehow some of the makeup I had applied rubbed off and I was unknowingly sporting one of the hickeys Taehyung had left. I look at it in the mirror a bit closer, starting to wonder how long it's been showing. 'Did Jungkook see it?' I question,  really hoping the answer is no. Wven though he knows I'm married, it's not something I want to show off.

It could've been worse though, he could've seen the other bruises I have that clearly show evidence of much more than just rough sex.

'How would he have reacted? Would he have said something?' I continue, asking myself question after question, soon starting to regret my decisions of going out tonight. 

Did I have a good time? Sure. But it doesn't make up for the amount of fear and guilt I'm going to feel if Taehyung finds out.

Will he do something? Will he get angry? Will he leave? Knowing him he would accuse me of cheating on him even though I'm the one who confirmed my suspicions. 

He, like Rae is someone that doesn't pull punches literally and figuratively. It's something that I've learned to live with, but that doesn't make it hurt any less.

"Hey" I hear him say softly while opening the bathroom door, scaring me and not even realizing how lost in thought I had been. To the point of not even realizing that he had gotten home. 

"Hi" I say timidly, not knowing what his next move might be. 

"Aren't you going to invite me in?" he questions in a mischievous tone, already taking his shirt off. I open the glass door as a way to invite him in and I hold out my hand waiting for him, knowing I really have no choice in the matter. 

"Hi beautiful" he says after getting in, placing his hands on my hips and leaning down to kiss me softly on the lips. I sigh into the kiss, thankful he's back home again and showing his softer side to me, clearly trying to make up for how we had left things the last time we saw each other. 

"I missed you" he says in a husky voice leaning down further to place a few open mouthed kisses on my neck marking me again, no doubt to make up for the ones that had started to fade.

"Missed you" I say through a breathy tone then my breath hitches moments later when he bites down on my shoulder.

"You smell so sweet baby" he says running his nose along the length of my neck before making his way back up to kissing me. "It's my new body wash" I say, trying my best to answer but he purposefully works against me by kissing me between each word, loving the struggle I put up.

"I like it. Buy it again for me when you run out okay? I want my pretty wife smelling like this all the time" he says before flipping me around and pressing my chest agains the wall.

"You gonna be good and let me take you in here?" he asks grinding his dick against my ass making my breath pick up, not expecting this drastic change in behavior.

I nod my head with my cheek against the tiles. He presses his chest flush up against my back, pushing me up against the wall even harder, making my chest feel sore as my nipples rub up against the cool surface, making me whine from the sensation.

i gotta say something that has been said many times but not enough to be taken into account by the people it is being catered to, apparently

romanticising abuse and making it into a kink is disgusting 🎀

being into resi and scrolling thru all of the posts is like trying to find a tasty strawberry in a basket of rotting fruit. tedious, and your belly will twist either way because of what you've seen, and it's not even the only community where this is so common. you'll see shit like rape, stalking, domestic abuse, sexism, pedophilia, sex trafficking, incest, and other heinous things being depicted as something hot just because the character that does them is hot. not even gonna delve into how shallow that is to reduce a character to their looks, but y'know. it's just the tip of the iceberg.

and don't get me wrong: smut is alright, attraction is normal. these aren't actual real people and 'meatriding' them is... uhh better than writing such things about real human beings. like, it's fine. smut is actually fun to read sometimes, not even for the freaky aspect. but some boundaries gotta be set, because THIS is crazy. this might be a hot take but i don't think such vile things should be excluded from literature, absolutely not - we wouldn't have some important works of art without implementing evil in fiction. what i DO think should be frowned upon and ostracised is painting these things as something good. because it's not. you people need help, uniting in having these urges is just making the problem worse. even if that makes you happy, you're hurting someone else. even if you aren't 'pro contact' or whatever the fuck else you come up with to justify yourself, you're reinforcing these things. you're giving people ideas. writing about your favourite character raping someone violently isn't just 'dark romance', it's a horrible fucking joke and spitting in the face of people that suffered. and if you suffered something like that and do this to cope, please seek help. you're hurting others for the sake of getting 'better', and you don't have the right to do that. no one does. this isn't just a "don't like, don't watch" kind of thing, you're harming people in order to feel better and get better. this isn't getting better but rather jumping headfirst into a pool of sewage and dragging others along to marinate there but i digress

there should be a thick line drawn between wants and needs. needs are something that has to be met. a fantasy about abusing or getting abused is not a need, it's a wicked craving and something you gotta speak to a therapist about. if you don't want it, fine. therapy doesn't work if the patient doesn't want it. just don't splash this shit onto other people. i might sound cruel or rude, but i don't really care if this is your way of coping - you're genuinely hurting other people with that. this is not the same as making jokes about your trauma or anything else to alleviate pain in a lighthearted manner, YOU'RE GIVING IDEAS TO PEOPLE. IF YOU DON'T EXECUTE IT, SOMEONE ELSE WILL.

Apparently at some point MCU fans collectively agreed that the Blip takes place on October 17th, 2023. Which is today. So I figured I'd take the time to detail the four biggest reasons why the time jump in Endgame was a universe-shatteringly horrible idea that should never have seen the light of day

the absolute biggest problem, of which there are many, is the fact that countless people died as collateral damage in the initial Snap. Hell, we are shown it in the Infinity War post-credit scene with those multiple car accidents and that helicopter slamming into a building. And that was just the tip of the iceberg; imagine how many planes crashed because the pilots were dusted, or how many babies starved because both their parents were dusted, or people who may have died on the operating table because a surgeon got dusted. All of these people are totally ignored. It's never so much as mentioned when talking about bringing everyone back, and Tony insisting that the last five years remain unchanged is implicitly saying all of those people remained dead when the dusted returned.

the second big problem with this plot point is that it's used as an excuse for every character except Nat to be totally unrecognizable. Bruce becomes Professor Hulk, Thor gets fat, Tony has a family (and I fucking love how the movie inadvertently says he just let the world rot for five years instead of using his billions of help. That is 100% in character for him), Clint went on a mass killing spree, and Steve... I actually have no idea what made him change so radically. None of this is shown to us at all, it's just told to us.

this is less a problem with Endgame and more a problem with Phases 4 and 5, but the other worse thing about this development is that absolutely nothing has been done with it. Far From Home played the time-jump for comedy, WandaVision had that one great scene in the hospital and then did nothing else, Shang-Chi had a singular throwaway line about the Blip, Hawkeye had that one neat visual of getting Snapped from Yelena's POV and then nothing else, Multiverse of Madness had a single conversation where Strange wonders if letting Tony have his way was the only way to save the universe, Quantumania had a single scene addressing the homelessness issue and then nothing else, and I think Secret Invasion tried to do a bit of a look at how Talos reacted to the Blip, but that show was so awful that I'd rather not think about it. The only projects to do anything at all with the Blip as a major plot point are Falcon and the Winter Soldier and Eternals.

the fourth and final massive problem with the Blip is pretty simple yet complicated; it ignores the absolutely insurmountable societal implications both the Snap and the Blip would have. Think about it; half the fucking universe disintegrates into ash. There are SO many things that would do to just human society alone. But even more importantly, five years after all those people were declared dead (meaning wills are executed, spouses remarried, jobs and homes redistributed, etc) those people suddenly reappear, and from their POV it's only been a second. Just to put it in perspective, the Snap happened on April 29th, 2018. Doesn't that feel like forever ago? If the Snap were real, all those people would have been gone until today. That is such a huge mindfuck that I'm shocked no one went insane. And even looking aside from the psychological impact, all those people are pretty fucking screwed. Far From Home had a single scene addressing this, then promptly forgot about it.

My final point is less of a problem and more of an amusing byproduct; since Tony directly forbids Bruce from undoing the last five years, that means the events of WandaVision, Falcon and the Winter Soldier, Hawkeye, No Way Home, Multiverse of Madness, and Secret Invasion are on some level his fault. That’s fucking hysterical.

I suppose I'll be absolutely fair and say that rewinding time isn't a morally perfect solution either, as you would be erasing any maturity the survivors gained during those five years, as well as anyone born in that time. But that's just all the more reason to NOT HAVE A FUCKING TIME-SKIP!!! I still think the only reason it was done was for cheap shock value.

All in all, the five-year time jump is the single worst major plot point in the MCU. Fight me.

Hey, I'm the anon who made that massive rant that you 'vehemently agreed' with why Fates's dissonance is entirely intentional while 3H was entirely intentional. I apparently got a bit of weird eyes for my 'Dimitri is closer to Ashnard than your typical lord' and 'Claude is a neoliberal' so I should perhaps explain what I mean so it's not taken out of context.

For one thing, the comparison with Dimitri to Ashnard was largely superficial; they're both Caligulas in the making and both mentally should be in an asylum than ruling the country, but their contexts are very, very different. Ashnard honestly has more in common with Edelgard in terms of their goals of "obliterating the current world order to institute a new one in their image", but also how they came to power is largely different. Dimitri was traumatized by the Tragedy of Duscur after killing basically all of his friends and family at the time and getting severe PTSD from it, and effectively only unmasking that tightly-guarded trauma upon seeing the person he thinks was responsible for it (Edelgard; the truth is a lot more complicated). From there on, combined with his time isolated away from civilization in some of the routes, his traits as a bloodthirsty, murdering brute driven by revenge come to the surface. How it goes varies in each route (he comes close to the brink but comes back in AM, is mostly fine in CF), but in VW and SS he basically goes off the deep end and, if he actually took power, would've probably been in line with Caligula more than the saintly "good, noble lord" comparison. Hence, why I made that logical throughline comparing him to Ashnard; the comparison was 100% superficial and obvious they are completely different (Dimitri is just traumatized; Ashnard is just pure evil), but it's hard to think of another person in the series who commands the resources of an entire nation yet is so insane than Dimitri is (I'd disagree with Gangrel; Joker-like persona aside, he was a slum thief who clawed his way to power from literally nothing, he's got a conscience and is capable of forming guilt). Dimitri's unquestionably one of the better lords of a very horrible cast of protagonists, but I still think he needs to go to a mental hospital than go anywhere near a throne. If you think I'm exaggerating, look at the many times somebody in history had too much power and psychosis. Caligula is just the tip of the iceberg. He's still the best character in 3H writing-wise by far, but yeah.

Claude, meanwhile, I called him basically a neoliberal centrist due to how much of an opportunist he is who pretty regularly 'both sides'ed the issue between the Church and the people who opposed it; it makes sense, his upbringing taught him he needed to take whatever chance he had to live another day, and it's because of him clearly having standards and limits to his behavior that makes him the least horrible of the four lords by a pretty comfortable amount... but his reaction to the Church is an extremely centrist playbook of lamenting on the cost of war while not actually doing anything to assuage the problem inherent to said broken system. He sides with the Church in VW, and only turns against it in GW because of a series of events that made it extremely worthwhile to side with; he's even got the most faction members who can side with basically any of the other faction routes, depending on if you parley with Claude or not. He's defined by a lack of principles so much as "not doing what the other guy does," and while he's well-intended, I can't help but think of the moralist routes in Disco Elysium and how the story actually had the guts to mock you for your sentiment at best, or outright have you locked in a fascist route at worst.

Don't get me wrong, I love Claude, he's my pick of the lord I'd choose in the absence of going full-on "screw 'em all". But I made the comparison for a reason; he's an opportunist who sides with whatever side benefits with him the most. A neutral wild card. While this makes for an interesting aspect how he sides with either side regardless, it does not make for a character that has principles of his own, and that can and does make him destructive given VW has the status quo more or less proceed the same as in SS, and GW is obviously inconclusive.

Ah, that makes more sense. It wasn't so much the belief system of Dimitri that you found similar to Ashnard, as it was the attitude and access to power.

I'll still push back a little, because Dimitri at his worst doesn't actually command nearly as much resources or military might as Ashnard does in any of the routes (and as you say, is pretty alright in CF), so the influence is stymied. That said, yes, were he to get worse while attaining the power of a king again, he'd make a lot of bad choices, evidenced by him getting killed in Snow and Wind. In concept, while I would agree that it's not great for Dimitri's wellbeing to be on the throne, that's operating under a framework outside of what we're given by 3H.

He obviously needs help, but that goes beyond what the game is willing to actually engage with in terms of discussion of mental disability and capability, and given that whenever the game tries, it actually gets pretty ableist, I'm gonna put a pin in this specific topic and just say: the game gave us the answer that what he needs is a support group to begin recovery, and that he's capable of ruling a kingdom so long as he has that support the whole way.

As for Claude, it again just comes back to one of my big gripes with 3H, because none of Claude's flaws can really be discussed within a context of the game that reads as acknowledgement and improvement, because the game was written around Byleth being this improbable shining positive influence that helps people grow out of their bad tendencies (or in Edelgard's case, learn to "reach out her haaaaand" for her crush on Byleth, that's everyone's favorite character development for women after all /s). This was said pretty much directly by those who wrote 3 Hopes, hence why none of the lords fix their issues there, and sometimes get worse. The A to B to C path of character progression in Houses is evident in retrospect, but not in the moment where it matters most. So Claude's fickleness and tendency to relieve himself of responsibility isn't as prominently displayed because... well why would it? *You're* with him after all, and *you* are awesome and guide everyone to the right path.

Humans are terrifying

Recently (like today, a couple hours ago) I came across this whole "humans are weird" and "humans are space orcs" trend and I have been furiously reading every post I come across. The subject, besides enormously entertaining, feels like a collective sociology debate or something where we describe, using aliens as some sort of audience, the most diverse aspects of human nature. Like some metaphor we're using just to enjoy what we like about ourselves as species.

And, honestly, most of these post are wholesome, cute or even funny but for some reason I feel drown towards the ones that explore the darkest and more gruesome aspects of human, as species. Now bear with me because English isn't my first language but hear me out:

Humans as apex predators. Aggressive humans. The liars, the vicious, the wreckless... It probably goes on and on, since I know for sure I have only touched the tip of the iceberg in my reading.

So, what I'm trying to say it's that sure, it's cute to get along with other species and ride their ships and impress them with our special talents and "properties". But what if we didn't?

What if aliens were afraid of us? What if protocols aren't such a thing after some centuries and there were all kinds of roge, pirate-like, human vessels and colonies around? What if we murder, hunted, ate, assaulted and cheated?

Imagine the horror in the souls of the soft, pacific aliens who are accustomed to their ancient ways of sharing, caring, and respecting, when they suddenly find themselves dealing with a new species that is as unpredictable as it is dangerous. Picture humans hunting a specific kind of alien because their meat is said to taste like some sort of addictive delicacy or because they have horns or nails made out of certain material that sells extremely well in the black market? Imagine humans flirting their way into power only to betray those who entrusted them with everything. I'm pretty sure apex predators can do that and more. The actors. The ones who can laugh at a Roomba with a knife taped to it as if it isn't something a little disturbing to begin with.

They can do horrors. They live in horror.

And aliens pray every day to not find those humans.

Because they all look alike. When and alien meets them they all smile and pat each other. They all ask questions out of juvenile curiosity and offer what they have, no matter how little. But they all can also have scars and sinful grins. They all can stab you in the back. And if you happen to meet the ones who will, you know is gonna be hard to scape. Because humans are some sort of fucking Land Rover-like beasts, specially on their adrenaline fueled moments. How can you avoid becoming the next barbeque? I don't know.

What about serial killers? Sociopaths? Psychopaths? There are a whole lot of new species to mess with. Imagine a narcissist gaslighting the hell out of some naive alien who wouldn’t understand why and how they are being mistreated, yet remains infatuated nonetheless. Dead bodies appearing on the ship in gruesome ways, as if someone were playing with their anatomy, portraying the dead aliens as some sort of spectacle, as if they were trying to say: "Look at what I did, this horrible, horrible thing". Aliens wouldn't understand, nor would they be ready to deal with the absolute disdain humans can sometimes have for life itself.

Even suicide...

I don't know why I find it interesting to think about these kinds of aspects. I'm not precisely enjoying it, but I just find it interesting. It's just some sci-fi headcanon, but still... Humans have so many shades, so much dark in their light. I don't feel the fantasy is complete if I don't consider that as well.

As much as I enjoy it, Hush is definitely to blame for this as it is held as THE end-all-be-all of all BatFam stories yet Cass (who an acclaimed ongoing series as Batgirl around the same time) was suspiciously missing from it along with Steph. Yet we only ever get flashbacks to Bab's time as Batgirl so that storyline also ended up cementing Bab's legacy as "the one and only Batgirl". Methinks a certain editor in charge at the time mandated for Cass and Steph to not appear in Hush because they-according to him-"were way too toxic" for said storyline. Because you see, as soon as he became a leading editor, his number one priority was getting rid of Steph and stripping Cass of her Batgirl role.

And so the age of darkness began...

First, there was War Games that solely existed to torture Steph in the most vile, most voyeuristic ways before killing her off. Then there was Robin: One Year Later, one of the worst, horrific character-assassination storylines since Spider-Man's One More Day, where Cass was suddenly turned into an over-the-top Saturday Morning cartoon villain obsessed with killing everyone, giving long-winded "together we can rule the world" speeches and being able to speak and write in fluent Navajo. ONE OF THE MOST DIFFICULT LANGUAGES IN THE WORLD. Then there was Redemption Road which, despite its good moments and happy ending, did even more damage to Cass's character. And finally, we have Battle For The Cowl which ended up pushing Cass and Steph so far into the background, they were basically erased from the BatFamily altogether.

Yet despite Steph's well-received run as Batgirl, DC's poor marketing and the lead up to the New 52 prevented the series from becoming a proper bestseller and it was cancelled without any fanfare whatsoever. Still, all those horrible decisions and storylines (like War Games and Robin: One Year Later) did such massive, long term damage to the characters that, even despite all the small good things (Steph's Batgirl series to the excellent Gates Of Gotham mini-series starring Cass), they were buried from public consciousness. As for Duke (another character, I'm a fan of), I think its just a case of him being a very recent character, a lack of marketing and higher-ups not knowing what to do with him.

As for the asshole editor who everything to burry the Batgirls, he was eventually fired for creating an "unsafe working environment". And yes, his name rhymes with "Ban Video".

As for the people who keep erasing Cass, Steph and Duke from fan works, I know it sounds depressing but hear me out: Fandom, be it comics, video games, films, cartoons, TV shows, ect, has an unconscious bias of white male favouritism. (Yes, I know Dick is Romani, Damien half-Arabic/Asian yet they're still quite white-passing)

It is so sad and frustrating that these bias persist even in communities that are meant to be about joy and love; but of course the Batfam fandom has issues with sexism and racism when the canon also has for so long. I'm sure most fans don't try to be prejudiced, but male and white-passing characters are so much more popular than others. The unfair treatment of Steph as Robin and both her and Barbara in making Babs Batgirl again for no reason is one of the things I wrote Robins: The Musical to vent about, and that's only the tip of the iceberg.

I dont talk much about minecraft youtuber drama here but god quackity is pissing me off with his shenanigans.

In case you missed it admins for quackitys minecraft server (specifically an admin named lea) came forth claiming that the admins were underpaid if paid, were working horrible hours, and generally treated like shit. This is of course paraphrasing but this is worker exploitation and disgusting.

Quackity then did a little stream saying he was “unaware” of anything wrong happening behind the scenes. Which is interesting considering this is his “passion project” and the studio is under his name and hes the one who hired everyone.

Then recently Lea (i apologize if im spelling her name wrong she is french if i recall) did an interview saying that quackity was basically lying, the ndas he had the admins signed were fake, and reiterated the horrible working conditions and the fact he knew everything.

Then today he streamed again saying he was stepping back because of the hate and threats we was receiving which of course is never okay but this is the first time he’s ever spoken on that subject (which is interesting as his twt fandom is known for being incredibly hateful and threatening people) and he was stepping back from the server. Again this is a simplified version, just hitting the major points of everything.

this is not accountability, this is him making someone else fix what hes done. He wont even openly admit to everything but his silence shows everything. What he has done to his workers is horrible and incredibly wrong but the majority of his fans dont care and are upset at dream stans of all people for “making him step back” (dream stans havent even been the main group doing this shit btw. they are just the group pointing out the hypocrisy the most as dream fans have received copious amounts of hate from qsmpers for the fact they like dream. Let it be clear that the allegations against dream have been proven false and as of me writing this post he has not done anything genuinely bad. like exploiting his workers)

Regardless of who you stan or hate, you have to realize that what quackity has done with his server and the admins is wrong and he should take accountability and discuss what hes done wrong. hes was/is a law student for heavens sake. This is only the tip of the iceberg of questionable things quackity has done (for example his merch company is extremely shady. there is very little information available about it online, people have trouble with shipping and receiving their orders, merch quality, and much more) and it saddens me that while the mcyt community preaches accountability and recognizing when a cc has done wrong, they fail to do it 99% of the time. I dont hate quackity, and i dont want him to get doxxed and receive death threats, but i need him to be transparent. To admit to his mistakes and be honest and actually change shit. Because right now him stepping back isnt fixing anything, its not helping the people who have been hurt by his actions. Im also really sad that the qsmp has been riddled with these mistakes as theres so much potential with it. It was the first bilingual minecraft server then multilingual. it united so many different parts of the minecraft community but it is not stable, its not going to last at this rate and thats so sad. Qsmp seems to just be a money maker for its creators, every part of it meticulous planned to see what will bring in the most views (as well as its the first server i have personally seen have a merch store? i wonder if the admins that play the characters are getting any of that money…)

I am sick and tired of all the constant lies. The Biden Administration blames Trump for its $1.8 trillion deficit. The interest expenditures will be about $1 trillion alone. Now, if you just accept that at face value, you are part of the problem when the United States will crash and burn. This makes it sound like tax revenues have declined. In 2020, the last year of Trump’s presidency, the total tax revenues collected were $3.42 trillion. In 2023, the revenues taken in from taxes was $4.4 trillion. And the U.S. government now estimates its total revenue will be $5.49 trillion for fiscal year 2025.

According to Forbes, if we confiscated 100% of the top 10 wealthiest people, we would get $1.5 trillion, but that still will not eliminate the deficit. It would destroy all of those companies, create huge unemployment, and wipe out our countless pension funds. But hey, they are the problem. It is never the politicians who are off to rob others and hand it to you to buy your vote. It’s be honest. Socialism is corruption because the politicians have to promise you something to buy your vote. They no longer know how to run for office without promises to steal from one class TO HAND TO ANOTHER. There is no such thing as efficient and proper management because government is the answer to everything, even climate change. According to their top experts, the climate would never have changed if we had paid more taxes.

Since the war with Russia began in February 2022 during Biden’s Administration, he has pushed for a total of $175 billion to create more billionaires in Ukraine than in America. Interestingly, $106 billion directly aids the government of Ukraine, while the balance funds “various” U.S. activities associated with the war in Ukraine, namely overthrowing the Russian government and surrounding countries and ensuring the future of our politician’s investments will be profitable. This is never documented or fully explained.  Thus, Ukraine accounts for about 10% of Biden’s deficit. But that, too, is Trump’s fault.

Come on! It’s all Trump’s fault for not raising taxes back to 94% as they were for World War II, 91% for the Korean War, and 70% for the Vietnam War. If we look at the accumulative interest expenditures and war, about 80% of the national debt has been for playing policeman of the world. This has NEVER benefited the people. If you refuse to pay the taxes they impose WITHOUT representation, as it was in 1776 since they, too, represent only their own self-interest, you go to prison. This is freedom?

They always say to tax the rich. As I said, if you take ALL the assets of the top 10 billionaires, you would NOT eliminate this $1.8 trillion deficit. But that is just the tip of the iceberg. They changed the definition of who the rich are. Before World War II, the definition of the rich was $5 million, while a Cadillac was $600.  They began to raise it to $250,000 a year, but then it was clarified as “household” income.

So, if you and your wife combined were at $250,000, you were that horrible, evil, greedy rich person they need to shake upside down to get every penny in your pocket. Don’t worry. It’s for God and Country and the lifestyle of members of Congress who work so hard to figure out if there is something else they can tax.

Once upon a time, it was theorized that if the government borrowed, it would be less inflationary than printing. But those days are gone. That is when it was illegal to borrow against government debt. Today, debt is just money that pays interest the same as it was during the American Civil War.

If we add each year the total interest expenditures, you will see that generally, about 70% of the national debt is based on just interest, as we will reach $1 trillion this year. Guess what? China holds about 10% of the US national debt, so interest is going to China, but it does not stimulate the US domestic economy. We should stop borrowing, for it would be cheaper and less inflationary if we just printed to cover the deficit rather than borrow. Then, capital will lend to the private sector, and we will see a huge economic boom. Things have changed in economics – it is about time we recognize Keynesian Economics has failed.

Canadian Politics

I’m so tired of the people getting mad about our Prime Minister, over matters that they obviously don’t fully understand. Causing me to not know if he’s actually doing his job or if he’s terrible.

All Politicians have agendas. This is the one of the few things I can agree with.

Taxes. There are taxes that people don’t understand. The thing about these taxes that people can understand is this. The poor aren’t being taxed. The ones getting taxed are those with money. So those who own 2 or more homes, cottages, mansions, or farms. That money from that tax goes towards paying off our debt. The other tax is the Carbon Tax, and that is only for companies like grocery store products (Ketchup, Milk or Coffee beans). The poor little farmer that sells at a tiny stand or… farmers market. Aren’t being taxed. That tax is then being used to give to those who are on… ODSP (Ontario Disability Support), the elderly (the retired) and welfare.

Gun Safety Laws. Guys… we live in CANADA. Most of our country is wilderness. Gun Safety doesn’t mean NO guns. It means there’s laws on owning and using guns. It’s just most of our gun owners AREN’T the crazy nut jobs in the States. There calm HUNTERS who deal with Wild Animals like GRIZZLY BEARS.

The Military. Yes our Military is sexist. The problem? ALL Militaries across the WORLD are SEXIST. The only difference between us and them is that we’re actually doing something about it. They are just talking about it because they don’t want you asking questions about your own military.

Our Prime Minister takes Luxury Trips? No. Our Prime Minister is the PRIME MINISTER of CANADA! Which means… he has SECURITY. So when he goes on a trip to take a break from us and his 💩 Job (Let’s be honest here. Being the Leader of a Country is a 💩 Job) he needs to take a Security Detail with him, because again… He’s the PRIME MINISTER of CANADA.

I know exactly what’s going to happen when the Conservatives take the Prime Minister seat because my Provincial Leader is a CONSERVATIVE. He’s absolutely horrible as you know by my recent comment about the Science Centre. Which is just the very tip of the very huge iceberg. That is his stunts over the years. hi! if you’ll see my posts i’ve never once discredited spain for their win. have i complimented them? no. but i have not in a single post said they don’t deserve it. i’ve seen all the games spain has played, they played well, wonderfully really.

what irks me as a viewer of the game is not technically the players themselves that bother me (even if it was, i’m within my own right to not like a player). my main issue with the cause at hand is not being true to your word and sticking up for what you believe in. it’s disappointed me greatly to see players who i looked up to take a stance, especially one as deep as this situation is, only to go back on their word. i value morals, values, and ethics. that's how i work. a handful of these players have gone back on what they believed in...and sure they may be right in their own sense but it doesn't mean i have to support it. for me, whether it be a player or a friend of mine who's done this, i would be stepping back from them either way. im choosing here to respect myself and what i believe in and support those that i feel best match who i am as a person.

and could i see where they’re coming from in terms of playing at the wc? yes. do i respect their decision to come back under a coach they’ve all claimed is toxic? when more than half the team has written down that they would like to have him removed as a coach? MORE THAN HALF? and yet, when it came time to double down, to really show how much of a poor impact he had on the team, only a handful did so.

the implications of the players that rejoined under the coach and those that were willing to is huge. it washes away everything they’ve fought for up to till this point. the hard work and sacrifices of not only themselves but also other players.

as for the only barca players being attacked…mate i’m genuinely not a liga f watcher, much less a real madrid watcher. i personally have been floating in and out of the woso space for years, focussing a lot more on the north american and then somewhat british side due to the north american players playing there. i've just recently got into the wsl and have watched maybe 5 games of barca bc a) i grew up in the messi era and have supported him, and b) all the hype surrounding alexia putellas.

i can't speak for other people, but that's my reasoning. im only mainly familiar with ona, aitana, and alexia, and they're the players that matter to me, that i once looked up to. the others, i mean this in the nicest way possible, i am indifferent to. its just the way it is. you can't care for everyone, and i am choosing not to.

at the end of the day, it comes down to the all of this combined. and so no, i won't be happy with the fact that spain won. not one bit. im not even going to apologize for that. for me the true winners were teams that fought together and stood up together (looking at usa in the past years, england, nigeria, canada, jamaica, etc.).

spain's team has showed me they don't respect their values, morals, and ethics, and that is not something i can stand behind.

I was raised in a cult.

I was raised to believe some pretty fucked up things that said cult believed in.

I used to believe some very racist things because of this horrible religious cult. Like, the Native Americans were originally from “the holy land” of Jerusalem and Israel and they only have darker skin than the other Jews because they are cursed for rejecting the word of god; because of this curse, we aren’t allowed into heaven. I used to believe that all black peoples were descendants of Cain, thus carried his curse (the dark skin is the curse, if you haven’t caught on) and are all going to hell because of that. And, I used to believe that whites were superior, because that’s what the cult taught me from a very young age, making me denounce my native side.

I also believed some really sexist shit the cult preached too. I used to believe that women were useless, shouldn’t hold any power, and only served the purpose of creating more children. I also believed that men were inherently superior and served a holier, higher purpose than women.

And I also believed some pretty funny shit too. Like, if I fully submerged in water after my baptism Satan would gain control of me, Bigfoot was secretly an immortal and very hairy black man set to wander the earth forever (Cain), when you die that you would have domain over your very own planet, and if adults didn’t wear magic underwear Satan would control their bodies and make them walk the path of darkness.

You had to have engaged with the story enough to come to that conclusion but you used absolutely zero brain cells in that thought processing. No critical thinking skills. You saw some pretty people on a screen and shipped them without listening to anything they were saying. (TL;DR One of Sol's defining characteristics throughout the entire series is that he wants to kill Asuka and not in a "hot rivalry way" but in a "you deeply and unforgivably betrayed my trust and bodily autonomy and that's not even the tip of the iceberg" kind of way.)

Am I making him too solemn? Like yeah, his combat is silly but otherwise he's very straightforward when he speaks." and then I look at his story dialogue and think to myself "No. It's the fanon's perception of him that is wrong." ALSO. Anyone saying that his characterization in Strive is "him returning to being a serial killer" will die by my hand.
